- 0:00Speaker 1: It's Cantus Parker. Welcome to the Trophy Room, where we
- 0:04Speaker 1: celebrate athletes and their high achievements, accolades, all of those
- 0:11Speaker 1: good things. Only one rule is that you have to
- 0:14Speaker 1: have one accolade or one trophy that's similar to mine.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So joining me on today's episode, We've got someone that
- 0:25Speaker 1: meets the criteria in more than one way. Three time
- 0:29Speaker 1: WNBA Champion, WNBA Finals MVP, six time WNBA All Star,
- 0:35Speaker 1: All WNBA First Team member, McDonald's All American, two time
- 0:40Speaker 1: Olympic gold medalists, and among many other accomplishments. Chelsea Gray,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to the Trophy Room.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Thank you, thanks.
- 0:49Speaker 1: For uh for coming on. I'm excited to sit down
- 0:52Speaker 1: and chat with you.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. I'm just really admiring your socks.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna we're gonna keep it on. We're gonna
- 0:59Speaker 1: keep it on top, I promise y'all. So I wore
- 1:03Speaker 1: the jersey number three, three time w A champ. Three
- 1:07Speaker 1: is close to my heart, played on three different teams.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I got three kids, my big three in life for food,
- 1:12Speaker 1: one in sports. So in this segment, I've got three
- 1:15Speaker 1: things that I want to ask you. Okay, okay, people
- 1:19Speaker 1: might not know that you're incredible at impersonations.
- 1:23Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:25Speaker 1: What's an impersonation that you're proud of? And can you
- 1:29Speaker 1: do it to one of these three cameras?
- 1:32Speaker 3: All right, an impersonation that I'm proud of. Let's see,
- 1:35Speaker 3: let me see which one I want to do here.
- 1:40Speaker 3: But like, hear me out, hear me out, hear me out.
- 1:45Speaker 3: If we just run horns, you just do the back
- 1:46Speaker 3: door like it'll be wide open.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yoah, I'm gonna break it.
- 1:49Speaker 2: She doing me? You know what I'm saying.
- 1:51Speaker 1: She doing me?
- 1:52Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Is that pretty good? That's
- 1:55Speaker 2: all right? Exactly?
- 1:55Speaker 1: The fingers, the finger with the horn. Yeah, I can't stay.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And I knew you were going to do that. You're
- 2:03Speaker 1: known for your no look past. Okay, what is the
- 2:08Speaker 1: most impressive thing that you can do without looking?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Most impressive thing I could do without looking? Aside from passing,
- 2:17Speaker 3: that's hard.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I could type. You can run a text message. Okay,
- 2:25Speaker 2: that's pretty good.
- 2:26Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 2:27Speaker 2: That's what I got.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Okay, I like that. Yeah, and you're really into poetry.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Could you freestyle a haiku? Can you do a little
- 2:38Speaker 1: quick haiku? It could even it could even just be
- 2:40Speaker 1: a high coup you've done in the past, right off
- 2:43Speaker 1: the top of the door. Three lines. For those of
- 2:45Speaker 1: y'all that did not go to the University of Duke
- 2:48Speaker 1: or Duke University or the University of Tennessee, I'll throw
- 2:50Speaker 1: you in there. Haikup is three lines, five syllables, seven syllables,
- 2:55Speaker 1: five syllables.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah see, I probably wouldn't follow.
- 3:00Speaker 1: That.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Can I just do my own and not do it? Okay?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Hmm in the head?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. Sitting on the couch with my homie. Can
- 3:16Speaker 3: I can do everything she can't? She can kind of
- 3:19Speaker 3: pass the ball, that's the rock. I love her on
- 3:23Speaker 3: the block?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yo? What that?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Something is wrong with time?
- 3:32Speaker 2: We don't need we need someone? What else? All right?
- 3:37Speaker 1: All we gotta do is all we gotta do is
- 3:39Speaker 1: put some forty on and she'll keep going.
- 3:42Speaker 2: We gotta do.
- 3:43Speaker 1: That's all we gotta do. All right? Uh, we need
- 3:46Speaker 1: to know one thing you can't do. Since we talked
- 3:48Speaker 1: about all the things you can do and all the
- 3:51Speaker 1: things you've accomplished, the list is long. Don't make me
- 3:55Speaker 1: read it again because it's really long. That's one thing
- 3:58Speaker 1: you can't do.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean, I just did a little free style, but
- 4:02Speaker 2: I cannot sing.
- 4:03Speaker 1: You can't sing. No.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I feel I could maybe like hold a little, but
- 4:07Speaker 3: I can't sing. And it really bothers me that I can't.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I feel like you do sing.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I sing really like just for just fun, but I can't.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I can't sing. Can you do the backup for this?
- 4:19Speaker 2: That's all I got. That's all I got, But I
- 4:21Speaker 2: wish I could sing.
- 4:23Speaker 1: All right, We're gonna switch to what got us sitting here,
- 4:26Speaker 1: which is basketball.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Look, but.
- 4:29Speaker 1: This is crazy to sit here at Unrivaled, to be
- 4:33Speaker 1: sitting here with you who was the first player that
- 4:38Speaker 1: signed with Unrivaled. Basically, you've gone overseas for years now,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you're able to play in the United States in Miami
- 4:49Speaker 1: in the winter, the best months in an inaugural league.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I mean, how does that feel to be sitting here
- 4:56Speaker 1: from where you know, where the first conversation started.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's pretty cool, right, Like there's a
- 5:04Speaker 3: few buckets that you have opportunity to hear with Unrivaled,
- 5:06Speaker 3: Like you're able to get paid, you're able to stay
- 5:09Speaker 3: home with family and able to see you play, and
- 5:11Speaker 3: you're able to get better and just hoop like going
- 5:14Speaker 3: overseas you really feel like it's a job. Like you're
- 5:17Speaker 3: going over there, you know exactly why you're going over
- 5:19Speaker 3: there to like have an experience. Yes, you get able
- 5:22Speaker 3: to travel, that all comes with it, But you're over
- 5:24Speaker 3: there for the money, right, But you're able to do
- 5:27Speaker 3: that here now, have your family there and then hoop
- 5:30Speaker 3: and get better. Like there's so much opportunity to get
- 5:33Speaker 3: better if you don't take advantage of it, So i's
- 5:36Speaker 3: wrong with you. So I think that's like where my
- 5:39Speaker 3: mindset went to be able to stay home and just
- 5:42Speaker 3: compete against the best and make money doing it.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And this is an unconventional style of basketball. It's a
- 5:51Speaker 1: smaller court and gets seventy two feet, same with it's
- 5:56Speaker 1: three on three full court. Yeah, you're playing for roseb
- 6:00Speaker 1: see this season, you have some pretty unbelievable athletes on
- 6:05Speaker 1: your team. I'll just go out and say, I don't
- 6:08Speaker 1: know what everybody's sleeping on. I think your team is
- 6:10Speaker 1: actually very unfair, especially for the rules in how you
- 6:14Speaker 1: play the game and the speed at which the game
- 6:17Speaker 1: is going to take place. You guys have everything on
- 6:20Speaker 1: your roster speed, rebounding, facilitating playmaking, shooting.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I agree, I agree.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I'm so happy like who I'm going to be playing
- 6:32Speaker 3: with the versatility to like on both ends of the floor,
- 6:36Speaker 3: like you have cough run up the floor, Sykes run
- 6:38Speaker 3: up the floor. There might be a line of where
- 6:39Speaker 3: you see just three guards just playing. And so that's
- 6:42Speaker 3: what I'm excited for. You have people that like the
- 6:47Speaker 3: some dogs that want to win, like want to compete,
- 6:50Speaker 3: and I think having competitors in this type of format
- 6:54Speaker 3: is really cool and we all kind of compliment each other,
- 6:56Speaker 3: which I think is going to go a long way.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I looked at the roster. I'll be honest, I don't
- 7:01Speaker 1: know what I love it. I don't understand how people
- 7:04Speaker 1: thought that this was equal for this came like honestly,
- 7:08Speaker 1: I don't agree with that. I know you think it's great.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I think it's unfair, but like, how are you going
- 7:14Speaker 1: to adjust to this unconventional style because the pace of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the game, it is about being in shape, but it
- 7:20Speaker 1: is going to be an adjustment and style of play
- 7:24Speaker 1: and how you attack, I mean defensively as well. I
- 7:27Speaker 1: think you all match up very well.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't, yeah, I think offensively, Like you said, being
- 7:34Speaker 3: in shape is going to be like number one. Thing two,
- 7:39Speaker 3: There's gonna be moments where like your mindset kind of
- 7:42Speaker 3: has to flip, like you score a bucket, Like you know,
- 7:44Speaker 3: somebody's going to the buckets to people just have to
- 7:46Speaker 3: get back. So like your mindset or if even if
- 7:48Speaker 3: you get blown by one time take the ball out,
- 7:51Speaker 3: you just got to go to go score a bucket
- 7:52Speaker 3: and kind of even the plan field a little bit.
- 7:54Speaker 2: So I think your mindset it's got to go a little.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Bit faster, a little faster pace, which I love to
- 8:00Speaker 3: able to adapt to it. So I'm looking forward to
- 8:02Speaker 3: that and just completing this this season and being in
- 8:07Speaker 3: really really great shape.
- 8:09Speaker 2: That's what I'm most excited about as well.
- 8:11Speaker 1: All right, let's get to it. Queen of the Court, Okay,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you entering.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I'm in between what I'm in between about it?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Wouldn't you enter?
- 8:22Speaker 2: I know she was gonna say this.
- 8:23Speaker 3: That's why you know I'm thinking about it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Five You are five ten, I'm five eleven.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I got I got measured.
- 8:34Speaker 1: How tall are you six ' four with.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Shoes, without shoes, barefoot? I don't know.
- 8:40Speaker 1: With shoes, I guess I don't know. If I'm five eleven,
- 8:42Speaker 1: you are five, ten, goodbye. Anyway, we'll settle this later.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You can guard different positions, you can score one on
- 8:51Speaker 1: one and get to your spots. I don't understand why
- 8:53Speaker 1: you wouldn't enter. What is the hesitation behind not entering.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I just I feel like, yes, I can score. My
- 9:01Speaker 3: mindset is just like point guard first and passing, so
- 9:04Speaker 3: like it's gonna I'm wrapping my head around entering a
- 9:07Speaker 3: one on one competition which I'm a team sport player
- 9:12Speaker 3: to me, and so I.
- 9:13Speaker 1: E one finals, MVP passing. That's cute. We keep a
- 9:17Speaker 1: real on this show, so all that like modesty unclad.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Understand what you're saying. You passed as the All right,
- 9:26Speaker 3: I guess I gotta enter the Queen of the Court.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And I'm saying, I'm calling listen, you can't win, so
- 9:30Speaker 1: I'll just I'll just put that out there. You can't win.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know if you should enter.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I don't know if you're psychology. I don't know if
- 9:38Speaker 1: you're able to win one on one Queen of the Court. Okay,
- 9:41Speaker 1: if you were to build a player that you would
- 9:45Speaker 1: see as someone and and they're not playing right now,
- 9:48Speaker 1: you're like literally taking different skill sets to build a
- 9:53Speaker 1: top one on one player. What would those skill sets
- 9:56Speaker 1: look like?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Length?
- 10:00Speaker 3: I probably haven't been about six to two, shooting ability, versatility,
- 10:08Speaker 3: able to play back to the basket and face.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Up, and yeah, because what are the rules? That's my question?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Is this queen of the court? Check up? Like at
- 10:16Speaker 1: the three point line? Is this at the free throw line?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Is this post?
- 10:20Speaker 2: I don't know all the rules.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I have questions.
- 10:22Speaker 3: We'll have to look it up, you know, I got questions, Yeah, exactly.
- 10:25Speaker 3: So I feel like those are like my top and hopefully,
- 10:29Speaker 3: you know, play some defense a little bit. But I
- 10:31Speaker 3: think the versatility and the height and stuff will allow
- 10:34Speaker 3: them to do that.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Forgot to ask you, who are you most excited to
- 10:37Speaker 1: play with? It's so crazy because she had the same answer.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You guys are literally like peanut butter and jelly. I'm
- 10:46Speaker 1: really excited to watch you guys play together. Nice little toes? Favorite,
- 10:52Speaker 1: do me a favorite? Nice burn toes? Not almond butter,
- 10:55Speaker 1: Like straight up peanut butter. Can you do me a favorite?
- 10:58Speaker 1: And just throw her one bad outlet lob because she's
- 11:02Speaker 1: athletic is all get out. She'll go up and get it.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Oh, perfect.
- 11:05Speaker 1: So like I think about in blowouts, sometimes I would
- 11:08Speaker 1: just throw a pass, just try it, and just try it,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and her athletic ass would go up and do something. Yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna try it, so just just for fun.
- 11:16Speaker 3: It's her fun, I can go up and get it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And what person or player are you most excited to
- 11:24Speaker 1: play against?
- 11:25Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good one. I'm probably excited to honestly,
- 11:32Speaker 3: my teammates. I want to lock up Jack a little
- 11:34Speaker 3: bit playing against Tiffany. I'm excited to play against Jule too,
- 11:39Speaker 3: like she's been a bucket for years. So it'll be
- 11:43Speaker 3: different playing against my teammates, for sure.
- 11:45Speaker 1: That's awesome. Overseas, this generation is not gonna have to
- 11:51Speaker 1: which is which is wild? I remember us talking all
- 11:57Speaker 1: the time about overseas and the grind of like ending
- 12:01Speaker 1: your season, not really healing up, having to kind of sacrifice,
- 12:06Speaker 1: maybe healing up injuries to go overseas and make a
- 12:11Speaker 1: good living. Like that's where you made your money, it
- 12:15Speaker 1: was overseas. And so what can you say about the
- 12:18Speaker 1: places that you played? You played in Israel, Spain, you
- 12:21Speaker 1: played in Turkey was your last stop. But what can
- 12:24Speaker 1: you say about one your experience because I think now
- 12:27Speaker 1: people are going to devalue it. But there is some
- 12:29Speaker 1: positive that comes from playing overseas. And two about now
- 12:33Speaker 1: this generation not having to go overseas.
- 12:35Speaker 3: One thing I was told when I first got a
- 12:37Speaker 3: league is you need to go overseas. You get the
- 12:38Speaker 3: experience of playing a different type of basketball. You're like,
- 12:42Speaker 3: I don't know, like verbatim or like for sure, but
- 12:46Speaker 3: I know it had an impact on the style of
- 12:47Speaker 3: playing the way I see the game of playing overseas
- 12:50Speaker 3: because there's not a defensive thirty second rule. Offensively, they
- 12:53Speaker 3: don't really call it the way they call the game
- 12:55Speaker 3: with trivel like just the rules of the game overseas.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think it impacted my here in the States. I
- 13:02Speaker 3: was able to travel and play with people from all
- 13:06Speaker 3: different countries, like hear different languages. That allowed me to
- 13:10Speaker 3: like expand my palate.
- 13:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Drink some drink some good wine.
- 13:16Speaker 1: This is really sad because now everybody's gonna think I'm
- 13:18Speaker 1: a lush because everybody that has been on the show
- 13:20Speaker 1: has been like wine to start. Yeah, this is the problem.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna start.
- 13:27Speaker 3: It's okay, Like you play with and against so many people,
- 13:32Speaker 3: And I've visited countries that I probably would have never
- 13:35Speaker 3: guessed to go, Like when you're growing up, nobody was like, oh.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go visit Turkey, Let's go here.
- 13:40Speaker 3: And so now I've played there, I've been around the culture,
- 13:45Speaker 3: and it's just been pretty cool to like experience that
- 13:48Speaker 3: side of it, not just basketball.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And I think you get a great perspective of like
- 13:54Speaker 1: life and how the American way is not the only way. Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: And I always say maybe not in the fashion that
- 14:02Speaker 1: we had to travel, because it was a grind at
- 14:05Speaker 1: times and it was hard on our bodies. But I
- 14:08Speaker 1: do think everybody should travel because you have a different perspective.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You see different cultures. You see people as like really
- 14:15Speaker 1: just trying to live, be happy, eat good food.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You have to adapt to like different culture, weather, like
- 14:22Speaker 2: language barrier, like you learn you're like part of your
- 14:26Speaker 2: brain is you start learning how to speak a different language,
- 14:30Speaker 2: like say something in Russian, go.
- 14:33Speaker 1: The vibe Pashali, look at you. But how come every
- 14:36Speaker 1: single time I text you something and I'm like, hey,
- 14:38Speaker 1: is it okay? If we meet? As she says it
- 14:41Speaker 1: in Turkish, she says to mom, which is basically understand
- 14:45Speaker 1: I got you, which is crazy.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good morning. Look at you. Good morning you.
- 14:54Speaker 2: For one month you.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Because of you, every single time I heard you say
- 14:57Speaker 1: goodidon when I wasn't in the spar and I'm like,
- 15:00Speaker 1: could she stop? But speaking of which, I remember years
- 15:05Speaker 1: ago you were thinking about getting a passport, which is
- 15:08Speaker 1: wild to think about your trajectory of possibly because once
- 15:14Speaker 1: you get a passport, you're not playing for Team USA. Like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: just talk about the last couple of years. I talk
- 15:21Speaker 1: about from twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen since then, because that's
- 15:27Speaker 1: not that long ago.
- 15:28Speaker 3: It's really not so obviously. I got traded way back,
- 15:31Speaker 3: back up. I got traded to the Sparks, and.
- 15:34Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about that got Oh, we're gonna talk about.
- 15:37Speaker 2: She knew who I was. I had to introduce myself.
- 15:39Speaker 1: But no, run that back. We just traded John Quel Jones.
- 15:44Speaker 1: She was in that trade.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just making sure that you remember me.
- 15:47Speaker 2: How was that Connecticut?
- 15:49Speaker 1: So we got Chelsea Gray, like this was who we wanted.
- 15:53Speaker 1: In the first day at USC at practice, I said, hello,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm Chelsea. She introduced herself like this, and.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You said, I know who you are.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I mean I was going to go play with candids,
- 16:03Speaker 3: you know anyways, So I think that really honestly, not
- 16:07Speaker 3: that that like you're talking on the show. Me coming
- 16:10Speaker 3: to the sparks and being in LA and being with
- 16:12Speaker 3: the vets like yourself, like it changed the trajectory of
- 16:15Speaker 3: my career.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And I said all the time, like.
- 16:19Speaker 3: You don't understand if you don't have good vets, Like
- 16:23Speaker 3: it takes a special person to be able to adapt,
- 16:25Speaker 3: to be able to do it on your own if
- 16:27Speaker 3: you don't have good vets. And so I had that
- 16:29Speaker 3: with you and Elena and having people there, and I
- 16:32Speaker 3: just followed you guys around to understand what it means
- 16:34Speaker 3: to be a pro. And I was thinking about the
- 16:37Speaker 3: passport because I would didn't grow up doing USA basketball.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I wasn't invited to the camps as a young kid.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I wasn't even in college. Like I got hurt a
- 16:45Speaker 3: couple of times when I could have went, but I
- 16:48Speaker 3: didn't get that letter in the mail. So I was
- 16:50Speaker 3: just like, you know, maybe they're not looking at me,
- 16:52Speaker 3: like let me go try and make some money somewhere,
- 16:54Speaker 3: And like it was me being real, like if I'm
- 16:57Speaker 3: not going to be there. Why don't we just go
- 16:59Speaker 3: get money right? And I didn't end up doing it.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I was just like this, let's give it one more chance,
- 17:07Speaker 3: one more try. And the first year I've like really
- 17:10Speaker 3: heavily involved involved with USA basketball, I made the Olympic team.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And I remember to this day, I was like at
- 17:16Speaker 3: a house, the rental house up in Las Vegas, and
- 17:21Speaker 3: Carol Callen.
- 17:21Speaker 2: At the time, she called me and I was like,
- 17:23Speaker 2: this is it.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I'm over here pacing nervous to passes in the office
- 17:27Speaker 3: and she's like, okay, well I want to congratulate you.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I just dropped to the floor. I have no idea
- 17:32Speaker 3: what the rest that she was going over logistics. I
- 17:33Speaker 3: was like, I can't talk about this right now, like
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'm part of the Olympic team. Like it's just it's
- 17:38Speaker 3: crazy how the years kind of go buy and all
- 17:41Speaker 3: the accomplishments you have because it's just focused on one
- 17:43Speaker 3: task at a time and then you look back and
- 17:46Speaker 3: seeing all that you have accomplished. And so the run
- 17:48Speaker 3: that I've had the last four years has been great,
- 17:53Speaker 3: like Olympics championships, I.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Would say eight because ever since twenty sixty, which we're
- 18:00Speaker 1: gonna rewind to Yeah.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been like this, like this, we have some
- 18:03Speaker 3: hard years.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Let me explain a couple things. There was a game
- 18:09Speaker 1: against Indiana Fever in twenty sixteen and Chelsea did not
- 18:15Speaker 1: play for the Sparks. She did not get on the floor.
- 18:21Speaker 1: And I always was able to kind of see how
- 18:28Speaker 1: you operate and how you manipulate. And I think there's
- 18:30Speaker 1: people that play the game and there's people that dictate
- 18:34Speaker 1: the game, and you've always been a player that has
- 18:37Speaker 1: dictated the game. And so I didn't have any words
- 18:41Speaker 1: because I didn't understand why you didn't play. So that
- 18:45Speaker 1: wasn't my raw ross speech or anything like that. But
- 18:48Speaker 1: I remember the next game, you got an opportunity and
- 18:51Speaker 1: you were ready for it. And I think that that's
- 18:54Speaker 1: when you kind of earn the respect of our coach
- 18:57Speaker 1: and you know, the team, just in how you respond
- 19:00Speaker 1: and did because you have gone through a lot of adversity,
- 19:04Speaker 1: injuries in college, injuries that kept you out of your
- 19:07Speaker 1: rookie season in the WNBA, challenges of maybe not playing
- 19:14Speaker 1: the way that you should in certain moments, but you've
- 19:17Speaker 1: always risen to the occasion occasion like what is that?
- 19:20Speaker 1: Where does that resolve come from how do you make
- 19:24Speaker 1: the best out of those situations?
- 19:26Speaker 3: You know, I think it's kind of changed over the years.
- 19:30Speaker 3: I think early on it was like, Okay, let me
- 19:32Speaker 3: show you because you've you've I've been overlooked, and so
- 19:37Speaker 3: it was like the mindset of like, all right, I'm
- 19:39Speaker 3: gonna just stay the grind, stay the grind. I've been overlooked.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I'm used to just like I'm gonna show you why.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna show you why. And then it's kind of shifted,
- 19:47Speaker 3: like the last four years are like wanting to be
- 19:51Speaker 3: known as one of the greatest of all time, and
- 19:54Speaker 3: there's a level that you get to in how you
- 19:56Speaker 3: affect people that you play with. Yes, the championships, Yes,
- 20:01Speaker 3: the accolades. I'm not a huge like my game and
- 20:04Speaker 3: the way I see it, I want to make other
- 20:06Speaker 3: people better, right, And so does that happen if I
- 20:10Speaker 3: wasn't on the court, right? I want people to be like,
- 20:11Speaker 3: that doesn't happen. If Chelsea doesn't play, that doesn't happen.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Like I want to be that type of player and
- 20:16Speaker 3: that type of person, And so it's kind of shifted
- 20:18Speaker 3: to be in that in the orange jacket, and like
- 20:23Speaker 3: that's where it's kind of shifted and so overlooked. Yes,
- 20:27Speaker 3: there's always gonna be a moment where I feel like, yes,
- 20:29Speaker 3: maybe I should get more of my name or something
- 20:31Speaker 3: like that, but it's shifted to like, I just want
- 20:34Speaker 3: to be the greatest and have rings for days, because
- 20:36Speaker 3: at the end of the day you can't really battle that.
- 20:39Speaker 3: There's nothing else you can kind of say, and then
- 20:41Speaker 3: you know, move over and let somebody else feel it
- 20:44Speaker 3: and let let somebody else kind of take the reins
- 20:46Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And I think it's that mindset shift that I've smiled
- 20:50Speaker 1: at because I seen, you know, as you've gone on.
- 20:55Speaker 1: The skill set, the ability, all that has always been there,
- 20:58Speaker 1: but the mindset shift where you know you belong and
- 21:01Speaker 1: where you should be. I think that first Olympic team,
- 21:06Speaker 1: I mean, yes, you got it in twenty sixteen when
- 21:10Speaker 1: you scored eleven straight points for US in Game five.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Over that that popped up the.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Other day, I mean, you know, yes, But I think
- 21:19Speaker 1: really where it's like certified was when you made the
- 21:21Speaker 1: Olympic team and you were like, Okay, it's that I
- 21:24Speaker 1: deserve to be here as opposed to I'm just happy
- 21:27Speaker 1: to be here.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with that. You know, I know I
- 21:31Speaker 3: worked my ass off to be there. It's all about
- 21:35Speaker 3: like opportunity, right, People get drafted, people get to different
- 21:38Speaker 3: places and they know they can hop they know they
- 21:40Speaker 3: have the like the skill set, but it's all about
- 21:43Speaker 3: opportunity and when you like, when things don't go well, who.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Are you then?
- 21:48Speaker 3: And so I've had a lot of adversity at the
- 21:50Speaker 3: Sparks and then changing it up. I thought I was
- 21:52Speaker 3: going to retire there like it now, moving to moving
- 21:56Speaker 3: to Vegas like it just everything kind of shifted. And
- 21:59Speaker 3: so how can you come into a place and make
- 22:03Speaker 3: it a lot better? And I've been able to do
- 22:05Speaker 3: that in Vegas and make people better. And you want,
- 22:08Speaker 3: you want to be that person that people want to
- 22:10Speaker 3: play with, and so I've been able to kind of
- 22:12Speaker 3: be that.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Injuries that's something we always talk about. Yeah, I like
- 22:19Speaker 1: to use the word despite despite, despite the injuries, despite
- 22:24Speaker 1: despite the circumstance. You had a pretty serious knee injury
- 22:31Speaker 1: at Duke that kept you out for a lot of time.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Actually then your freshman year, I mean your rookie year,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you weren't able to play, Like how do you continue
- 22:48Speaker 1: to stay mentally tough despite if that makes sense, because
- 22:54Speaker 1: and I'm gonna keep going because you know, I I
- 23:00Speaker 1: was able to have a kind of court side view
- 23:04Speaker 1: of things in Vegas when you hurt your foot. For
- 23:07Speaker 1: those that don't know, Chelsea hurt her foot in Game
- 23:09Speaker 1: three of the Finals in twenty twenty three, and you
- 23:17Speaker 1: know I was there throughout the whole process basically postkaing.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Not just there she was in my room outcried. She
- 23:24Speaker 3: stayed there longer like that, that injury was crazy.
- 23:28Speaker 1: That injury was crazy. But watching you the next day
- 23:31Speaker 1: get up and decide to go be present for your teammates,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and then again to start this season you had a
- 23:40Speaker 1: foot issue and watching you battle rehab but still pour
- 23:46Speaker 1: into your teammates, Like where does that mindset come in
- 23:50Speaker 1: when things don't work out for you but you still
- 23:52Speaker 1: want to continue to make those around you better while
- 23:55Speaker 1: still making sure that you're doing what you're supposed to
- 23:57Speaker 1: get back on the court.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I think it stands back from when I heard myself
- 24:02Speaker 3: in a duke, I'm making a decision like where I
- 24:07Speaker 3: wanted to go, where I wanted to be. I wanted
- 24:08Speaker 3: to be professional basketball player, like I wanted to do that.
- 24:12Speaker 3: I didn't know where it was exactly what was going
- 24:13Speaker 3: to take me. I just knew I wanted to play
- 24:15Speaker 3: in the NBA, and so there were steps there. There
- 24:18Speaker 3: was a process that I had to go through in
- 24:20Speaker 3: order to do that. I had to give my body right.
- 24:22Speaker 3: That was number one, Like you can be there, but
- 24:24Speaker 3: if your body like is not telling you that you
- 24:26Speaker 3: can do it, there's nothing you can do right. And
- 24:28Speaker 3: so I think it sims from that. And then in
- 24:32Speaker 3: twenty twenty three when that happened, it kind of shook
- 24:35Speaker 3: me because I was like, I did everything right, and
- 24:38Speaker 3: so I took the night, I took to day. Like,
- 24:41Speaker 3: first of all, I thought I was playing in game four.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I was like this injury not really, you know.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I thought. I was like, it's not.
- 24:46Speaker 3: That bad, Like just put a little shot in it,
- 24:50Speaker 3: you know, give me some tape.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I'd be all right.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Nah, I joke said, no, you can't even put you
- 24:54Speaker 3: broke your foot. I didn't know it was that'reod. I
- 24:58Speaker 3: was like, just give me some cushion or we got
- 25:00Speaker 3: a game. We got a championship to win. It was
- 25:02Speaker 3: a championship on the line.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I'm not a radiologist, and I saw the line all
- 25:07Speaker 1: the X ray you were.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Not despite, despite, I was gonna be despite, figure out
- 25:13Speaker 3: other ways.
- 25:14Speaker 2: And I took the night and I was crying. I
- 25:16Speaker 2: was like going through it.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I was just like it couldn't be all this couldn't
- 25:19Speaker 3: be for no reason, like come on now. And so
- 25:22Speaker 3: the next day, like Becky called me and she was like, listen, physically,
- 25:27Speaker 3: you're not able to do it, but your mind is
- 25:28Speaker 3: your best weapon. And I was like, bet all right,
- 25:31Speaker 3: let's go. This is what we have to do. What
- 25:33Speaker 3: I saw in game three, blah blah blah, this is
- 25:35Speaker 3: what we gotta don We can still win. They're gonna excel,
- 25:39Speaker 3: and as soon as they did, we were great. She
- 25:41Speaker 3: gave one of the best speeches of all time, like
- 25:44Speaker 3: everybody was looking at her like this, like locked in there.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And everybody was ready, like we're gonna win.
- 25:53Speaker 3: And I and I knew that I had ran a
- 25:55Speaker 3: lot of stuff like baseline of bounds I called sideline
- 25:57Speaker 3: of bounds.
- 25:58Speaker 2: So I was just like, I gotta.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Still be in that mindset to help them, to help
- 26:01Speaker 3: my teammates, and that kind of kept me going. I
- 26:04Speaker 3: kind of forgot about it. I threw my crutches on
- 26:05Speaker 3: the ground I lost one of them.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember. I remember in the celebration like, Chelsea,
- 26:10Speaker 1: where is your scooter?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Then I gotta have surgery. Anyways, let me just sew it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: But I think that's what's so impressive about what you
- 26:20Speaker 1: all have built with the Aces is that camaraderie. And
- 26:25Speaker 1: I do believe it does start with you. I do
- 26:28Speaker 1: believe that it also begins with Becky, her being a
- 26:34Speaker 1: coach that was able to breathe life and breathe belief
- 26:38Speaker 1: and all of that into the team. I on air,
- 26:43Speaker 1: everybody understands how much I fell in love with Golden
- 26:47Speaker 1: State just because how hard it is to be excellent
- 26:53Speaker 1: for that long. I mean, to have a dynasty like
- 26:56Speaker 1: they have. But it starts with the people. I think
- 26:58Speaker 1: there's a lot of talented in visuals out there, but
- 27:00Speaker 1: if you don't work together as people and so to
- 27:03Speaker 1: be a part of the Aces and to reunite with
- 27:07Speaker 1: you with the Aces, I think that's the one thing
- 27:10Speaker 1: I realized was so special about your group. What do
- 27:12Speaker 1: you think it is about how your relationship was Jackie
- 27:16Speaker 1: with Asia, with KP with Becky, I mean down the line.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Tiffany Hayes add that to the mix, Like, what do
- 27:23Speaker 1: you think that is about y'all's culture.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just about to say culture.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I think you're only going to going to go as
- 27:30Speaker 3: far as your culture and the people that you bring
- 27:33Speaker 3: into it. It's got to be like like minded that
- 27:35Speaker 3: the goal is the same. And I think that another
- 27:38Speaker 3: thing was was selflessness, Like I know it can be
- 27:41Speaker 3: like I want to be, you can't have selfish people,
- 27:44Speaker 3: Like there's moments where people are going to be selfish,
- 27:45Speaker 3: Like it's human nature and everybody can kind of cook
- 27:48Speaker 3: at any time.
- 27:50Speaker 2: But it's like.
- 27:52Speaker 3: There's a there's a rhythm to the way we do things,
- 27:56Speaker 3: and we know, like our bucket, we're gonna go to
- 27:58Speaker 3: our MVP. We know that this person, we're gonna put
- 28:01Speaker 3: people in spots like we're not going to ask you
- 28:03Speaker 3: to do something in a crucial time that we know
- 28:06Speaker 3: you can't do. And there's just like you create something
- 28:11Speaker 3: so beautiful when pieces formed together that you had no
- 28:14Speaker 3: idea would go together. And me and k people were like,
- 28:18Speaker 3: you're gonna be playing with KP. She likes to run
- 28:20Speaker 3: the po. I was like, it's going to go together, great,
- 28:23Speaker 3: trust me, it's going to be good. I know where
- 28:24Speaker 3: she's great at. She knows where I'm good at. But
- 28:28Speaker 3: you said it like it started with Becky like actually saying,
- 28:32Speaker 3: if one person's open, you got to give them the basketball.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Like it just her culture in her mindset. That kind
- 28:37Speaker 3: of made it flow together and everybody just embraced it
- 28:40Speaker 3: and it just kind of flowed. Honestly. She brought in
- 28:44Speaker 3: the right people. And when you bring in the right
- 28:47Speaker 3: people selfless, we have fun and you really don't understand
- 28:52Speaker 3: it until you're in it. You can see it on
- 28:54Speaker 3: social media, how goofy we are, but until you're in it, Like,
- 28:57Speaker 3: we have fun, but we also go to work in
- 29:00Speaker 3: and make everybody else better.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We stay late, we.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Get better, and you got to be healthy obviously, but
- 29:08Speaker 3: you really don't understand it until you're in it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: That I'd add communication to the way that different people communicate,
- 29:16Speaker 1: because everybody, I mean, I think that's the hardest thing
- 29:17Speaker 1: to master. Whenever you're coming into a new group or
- 29:20Speaker 1: a new situation, or you're bringing together so many different people,
- 29:23Speaker 1: it's like mastering the communication. It's delivering the same message maybe,
- 29:28Speaker 1: but delivering it so that you'll understand it, you'll hear
- 29:31Speaker 1: it you'll hear me out or you know, whatever it is.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And I think the way you all communicate is the
- 29:36Speaker 1: thing that like took me back, like in terms of
- 29:41Speaker 1: how much I respected the way you all deliberately communicate.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I mean in a film session, Becky'll call out Asia,
- 29:48Speaker 1: she'll call out Sid, she'll call you out, She'll call
- 29:52Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't matter, and I think there's that accountability,
- 29:55Speaker 1: but there's the direct communication that I was the most
- 29:57Speaker 1: impressed with.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and like you said, it's ties with but we
- 30:00Speaker 3: get on each other too. And that's actually one thing
- 30:03Speaker 3: I got from you is because you wouldn't communicate with
- 30:07Speaker 3: me the same way you would communicate with Mekka. And
- 30:10Speaker 3: I think a good leader, a great leader, is able
- 30:13Speaker 3: to communicate with everyone in a certain way, like I
- 30:17Speaker 3: might yell at you, but like you know, I'm gonna
- 30:19Speaker 3: have your back. And so now that you're saying like
- 30:23Speaker 3: communication is a huge thing, she doesn't talk to me
- 30:25Speaker 3: the same way she talks to Jackie. Is you got
- 30:28Speaker 3: to resonate with people, and so she's cultivated that kind
- 30:32Speaker 3: of feeling and it goes like down the line to
- 30:34Speaker 3: our assistance. The way they communicate, it's all like in
- 30:38Speaker 3: conjunction with one another and.
- 30:40Speaker 1: For rooting for one another. The reason why I decided
- 30:44Speaker 1: to go to Vegas. You were a huge factor in that. Obviously.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I remember the conversations of you know, at this point
- 30:51Speaker 1: in my career, this was gonna be my third team.
- 30:54Speaker 1: It's like what am I doing? But then I looked
- 30:56Speaker 1: at the landscape and Anya actually was like, we literally
- 31:02Speaker 1: can hang out with the Grace Awesome in the summer.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Laila was all on board. And once Laila was on board,
- 31:09Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, we're going to Vegas, pack our bags,
- 31:12Speaker 1: We're going to send city. But you had a lot
- 31:15Speaker 1: to do with the building of that culture and who
- 31:18Speaker 1: you are. How have you transitioned from a rookie somebody
- 31:24Speaker 1: that's quiet, that just does their job.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I was quiet.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You were really quiet. Like there would be some times
- 31:30Speaker 1: where I'd be like, Chelsea, you see that, say it
- 31:34Speaker 1: to now I'm in timeouts, Like I was in the
- 31:36Speaker 1: huddle like oh who is this?
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:39Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I got to see two
- 31:40Speaker 1: versions of you as a point guard, and I think
- 31:43Speaker 1: you always want your point guard to be your best
- 31:45Speaker 1: communicator and your leader, but you're leading in a different way.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Now it's funny I was talking to I don't forgot
- 31:52Speaker 3: who I was talking to the other day, and I
- 31:54Speaker 3: was just like I was at the Sparks in twenty sixteen.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I was like, all right, I'm gonna be here, but
- 31:57Speaker 3: you guys go get it done. I'm gonna be here.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna do my role. I got my ten points.
- 32:03Speaker 3: What you come on, go get it done. And then
- 32:06Speaker 3: like flash forward twenty twenty two, I had rookies, I
- 32:09Speaker 3: had people is like, all right, Chelse, you go get
- 32:11Speaker 3: it done. Like I was in a different seat, and
- 32:15Speaker 3: it's been like after you said around the Olympics where
- 32:17Speaker 3: it kind of turned in the communication piece.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I understand. I understand.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Like I always said, I never wanted to be the
- 32:24Speaker 3: like considered or the best player, but I wanted to
- 32:27Speaker 3: bring the best out of everybody else.
- 32:29Speaker 2: And so.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I knew I can do that with my leadership. In
- 32:34Speaker 3: my mind, I had to be I had to be
- 32:36Speaker 3: smarter up here. I had to make sure that I
- 32:39Speaker 3: was looking at film from a different perspective.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I understood people and the people I was playing.
- 32:44Speaker 3: With, like how to communicate with them, how to make
- 32:47Speaker 3: sure that the communication made sure that they know that
- 32:50Speaker 3: I see them, that they're valued and everybody can eat
- 32:54Speaker 3: and you get more when you win. It's really it's
- 32:57Speaker 3: really simple. Everybody gets more when you win. So if
- 33:00Speaker 3: I can, you can be mad at me for a quarter,
- 33:02Speaker 3: that's fine, But at the end of the day, you're
- 33:04Speaker 3: gonna end at this game with a dub and going
- 33:06Speaker 3: to All Star.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Like that's what I wanted. And so.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Coming from that mindset, like I have three rings now
- 33:15Speaker 3: because of that mindset shift, and so it's been pretty cool,
- 33:18Speaker 3: and I wanted to play with you to kind of like.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Look, we can do this again. It's just a different
- 33:23Speaker 2: like different seats, let's do it again.
- 33:25Speaker 1: It was different. There was none of this I'm gonna
- 33:28Speaker 1: twirl on the horns. Remember one time you were like,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a I'm a twirl. I was like, Candas,
- 33:34Speaker 1: can't do that. No one, Cannas is thirty five.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah we still do No, you did a twelve and
- 33:38Speaker 3: you get the lob.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And I was counting.
- 33:45Speaker 1: To turn around and do a lob. I was like,
- 33:49Speaker 1: thirty year old Candas, this is thirty.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Other greatest, one of the greatest of all the times.
- 33:55Speaker 1: But I will say that you know in Vegas right now.
- 33:59Speaker 1: You all one back to back championships. There's not very
- 34:02Speaker 1: many people that have had the opportunity to go for three.
- 34:05Speaker 1: There's a very short list, and there's even a shorter
- 34:08Speaker 1: list of people that have been able to accomplish the
- 34:10Speaker 1: three pet What was the hardest part of going into
- 34:16Speaker 1: a season in which the expectations were high still you
- 34:20Speaker 1: all still had an amazing team. Obviously there's ups and downs,
- 34:22Speaker 1: and there's setbacks and things like that. But what's the
- 34:25Speaker 1: hardest thing mentally to try to do something again and
- 34:28Speaker 1: again and again.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Let me think, you know, when you win a championship,
- 34:34Speaker 3: it's not completely reinventing the will. What got you the
- 34:39Speaker 3: last championship isn't going to get you this one. Like,
- 34:41Speaker 3: you can't do the same things. I think that sometimes
- 34:44Speaker 3: we were trying to do the same things that got
- 34:47Speaker 3: us the last championship. Yeah, we have the same people,
- 34:51Speaker 3: but teams are constructed a lot differently. I do think
- 34:56Speaker 3: it was different the way we started the season because
- 34:58Speaker 3: I was not playing. I think we have been in
- 35:00Speaker 3: a different position probably if I started off the season,
- 35:04Speaker 3: because everybody was adapting to a new environment with me
- 35:07Speaker 3: not out there, communication not like point guard everything. I
- 35:13Speaker 3: just think that we were trying to do things how
- 35:15Speaker 3: we won it before, and that's where we kind of
- 35:20Speaker 3: fell short.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And then like everybody wanted to take our heads off.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Man, Like when you're at the throne, everybody's like, Okay,
- 35:27Speaker 3: who's going to go next? And we had to play
- 35:30Speaker 3: with a chip on our shoulder, and we didn't do
- 35:32Speaker 3: that all the time, if I'm being one hundred percent honest,
- 35:34Speaker 3: And so it's.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Also hard to do that for three years straight to
- 35:38Speaker 1: play with.
- 35:39Speaker 3: It's a mindset that a collective group has to have
- 35:42Speaker 3: all the time. And it only takes like a couple
- 35:45Speaker 3: to not have one game New York.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Okay, you all have kind of flip flop championships one two,
- 35:58Speaker 1: New York just won this last one. Like obviously the
- 36:02Speaker 1: league is seeing this as the future rivalry of the
- 36:04Speaker 1: league and the current rivalry, and that you are going
- 36:07Speaker 1: to go to New York next year on their ring night.
- 36:09Speaker 2: That's crazy, that's crazy. Yeah, I can't wait for that
- 36:15Speaker 2: basketball game.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:18Speaker 3: I'm just like they, you know, people construct the schedules
- 36:25Speaker 3: all the things. I remember when we won, we went
- 36:27Speaker 3: back to I think we opened up in Seattle, that
- 36:29Speaker 3: was our semi final game. It was really really good series.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I mean, the league made the schedule. I'm excited for
- 36:38Speaker 3: It's an opportunity. You know, I love spoiling ring nights.
- 36:41Speaker 3: We did it before.
- 36:42Speaker 1: We've done it a couple of times with the game
- 36:44Speaker 1: winners Minnesota.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it was great, So I'm looking forward to it.
- 36:48Speaker 3: But it's it's it's what. It's what fans want to see.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I understand that everybody tunes in for matchups. They want
- 36:54Speaker 3: to see A and Stewie go at it. They want
- 36:56Speaker 3: to see you know, we played in the semi but
- 37:00Speaker 3: everybody knows that it's been Vegas in New York for
- 37:03Speaker 3: a while, so I understand it. It's going to bring
- 37:06Speaker 3: eyes to our game, which was just cool with me.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I'm going to rewind back to the Sparks because I'm
- 37:12Speaker 1: a little partial in terms of the rivalry. Yeah, I
- 37:16Speaker 1: understand Vegas and New York have a huge rivalry.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I said the Sparks in Minnesota, but.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I think people forget Minnesota. Yeah, and the Sparks twenty sixteen,
- 37:30Speaker 1: you were able to win in game five. Twenty seventeen,
- 37:33Speaker 1: they got us in Game five, but you hit the
- 37:35Speaker 1: game winner in Game one in twenty seventeen. I think
- 37:38Speaker 1: there was like two or three points that separated our
- 37:40Speaker 1: complete score over a three year period of time, which
- 37:43Speaker 1: is pretty unbelievable. I mean, the rivalries are really good
- 37:49Speaker 1: for the league. I was going to ask you which
- 37:51Speaker 1: one was your toughest rivalry, but you answered it with Minnesota.
- 37:55Speaker 1: What rivalries did you watch growing up that you like sports?
- 38:00Speaker 3: I watched Lakers Boston all the time. I actually, like
- 38:05Speaker 3: before like coming to the league, like Sparks and Phoenix
- 38:09Speaker 3: were playing against each other a lot before. It was
- 38:11Speaker 3: like when it was Western and Eastern Conference. So I
- 38:14Speaker 3: watched that a ton. I loved watching like when Lebron
- 38:20Speaker 3: was doing a thing and Steph was doing his thing,
- 38:21Speaker 3: Like that was great for basketball, and so I would watch.
- 38:25Speaker 2: That all the time. I'm trying to think.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I mean, I went to a school where Duke in
- 38:29Speaker 3: North Carolina was the best rivalry in the world, So
- 38:32Speaker 3: it's just like I love that type of environment. So
- 38:38Speaker 3: I guess I would start there, you you got, what's yours?
- 38:40Speaker 2: What's yours? What you got?
- 38:42Speaker 1: I would say Bulls Pistons was probably come on Chicago. Yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 1: I would say Bulls Pistons was probably was probably probably
- 38:49Speaker 1: my my rivalry to the point where, like I went
- 38:51Speaker 1: in the NBA TV studios the first time and Isaiah
- 38:55Speaker 1: Thomas sat down and I was like, mmm, he's my
- 39:00Speaker 1: favorite now, He's one of my favorite players and people ever.
- 39:03Speaker 1: But I was like, you're a bad boy, Like I can't,
- 39:05Speaker 1: I can't like you. But I say all that to
- 39:07Speaker 1: say with rivalries like you kind of solidified your name
- 39:12Speaker 1: as one of the great point guards in this game.
- 39:15Speaker 1: In that rivalry against Minnesota, playing against Lindsay Whalen, who's
- 39:19Speaker 1: going to be a Hall of Famer, is a Hall
- 39:22Speaker 1: of Famer. Shoot, Simona Augustus, you talk about Maya Moore,
- 39:26Speaker 1: I mean, you're the game winner in twenty seventeen in
- 39:31Speaker 1: Game one, I'll never forget. Brian Agler drew up a
- 39:35Speaker 1: play and I was like, no, we're gonna remember all
- 39:38Speaker 1: of Chelsea.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah, elbow jumper.
- 39:41Speaker 1: So glad that he trusted me because he was trying
- 39:43Speaker 1: to do a handoff it.
- 39:44Speaker 2: It was kind of it was kind of a complicated
- 39:46Speaker 2: what are we doing.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I was like, let's just give the ball to Chelsea
- 39:48Speaker 1: and let her get to her spot. In those moments,
- 39:51Speaker 1: because you've hit a number of game winners in your career.
- 39:54Speaker 1: In those moments, like what is your mindset? What do
- 39:56Speaker 1: you say to yourself? What are you trying to accomplish.
- 39:59Speaker 3: I want to at the best shot possible. I remember
- 40:01Speaker 3: in twenty sixteen, I passed it to Atlanta in the
- 40:03Speaker 3: corner because mine helped off from the corner. You got
- 40:06Speaker 3: to pass the basketball wide open. I want to get
- 40:08Speaker 3: the best shot possible. I always say, like, I've shot
- 40:11Speaker 3: that shot a million times. The only thing different is
- 40:14Speaker 3: this time on the clock, and so I'm like, there's
- 40:17Speaker 3: only one shot that lay up and after the spoiling
- 40:19Speaker 3: the ring now is like I don't really do that
- 40:20Speaker 3: all the time. The left hand layup, double pump in
- 40:23Speaker 3: kind of over Sylvia. I don't really do that all
- 40:25Speaker 3: the time. But everything else is just like it's the
- 40:29Speaker 3: same thing. It's like I've done a thousand reps. I
- 40:32Speaker 3: want to get the best shot possible. But I know,
- 40:34Speaker 3: like you know, I have the confidence to raise up
- 40:38Speaker 3: and do those types of things, and you live with
- 40:41Speaker 3: the consequences, honestly.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Two thousand and seventeen, I'm at your birthday party and
- 40:49Speaker 1: I wrote a message on Insta my instant story and
- 40:53Speaker 1: I wrote point God, that was crazy, and I wrote
- 40:56Speaker 1: a bunch of w's and a bunch of d's on it,
- 40:59Speaker 1: and that nickname is of stuck.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I mean, obviously I saw it from the beginning. I'll
- 41:05Speaker 1: just be honest. I'm not gonna be humbling that I
- 41:07Speaker 1: saw your greatness from the beginning. What was what is
- 41:13Speaker 1: it like to grow into that? Because I feel like
- 41:16Speaker 1: now people recognize you as as Like there was some
- 41:19Speaker 1: debate in twenty seventeen eighteen where it was like, oh
- 41:22Speaker 1: is this person? Then now the debate has just stopped,
- 41:25Speaker 1: like everybody has accepted that you're the best point guard
- 41:27Speaker 1: in the world. Yeah, but what is it? What was
- 41:30Speaker 1: that like? That process like growing into that?
- 41:32Speaker 2: A lot of people like, oh, you're not this, so
- 41:34Speaker 2: you're not that. It was crazy.
- 41:35Speaker 3: I was just like everybody in women's basketball, you like
- 41:39Speaker 3: in men's basketball, you called them there this, they're that.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I was just like, why can't I have a nickname?
- 41:44Speaker 2: First of all, like, let me just have my nickname.
- 41:47Speaker 3: But it's pretty cool that to get recognized like that
- 41:49Speaker 3: is like you've changed you helped change basketball, like not
- 41:54Speaker 3: just women's basketball, you've helped change basketball and people understand
- 41:58Speaker 3: that you have young that's doing that. It's on a shoe.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Like you growing up, you wanted your name on a shoe.
- 42:04Speaker 3: You wanted your nickname, you want to shoot like you
- 42:06Speaker 3: wanted your emblem, and so now it's on a shoe.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I'm just like, there's different steps that you would think
- 42:11Speaker 3: at as a kid, like this is my dream and
- 42:14Speaker 3: I've accomplished it, and so now it's like sitting back and.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Enjoying the process that I've kind of went through.
- 42:20Speaker 3: But shout out to Camp for putting that on Instagram
- 42:22Speaker 3: and now that's that's the name that's on the side
- 42:25Speaker 3: of the shoe and everything.
- 42:26Speaker 2: You want some royalties for that, No.
- 42:27Speaker 1: It's okay, it's okay, it's all good. I'll get a
- 42:32Speaker 1: nice bottle of wine to okay from you, speaking of
- 42:35Speaker 1: which you grew into that name. And one of the
- 42:39Speaker 1: hardest decisions for me was leaving the Sparks.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Me too, that conversation was not easy.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I was there for thirteen years. I played thirteen seasons
- 42:49Speaker 1: with the Sparks, and I remember our conversations going into
- 42:52Speaker 1: free agency where we were both kind of open but
- 42:55Speaker 1: like more leaning towards going back to the sparks, but
- 42:59Speaker 1: then we were gonna listen and we were going to
- 43:01Speaker 1: listen to, you know, other pitches and other teams and
- 43:04Speaker 1: things like that, and for us to be as close
- 43:06Speaker 1: as we were at that time, because we were pretty
- 43:08Speaker 1: close at that time in twenty nineteen twenty twenty. We
- 43:12Speaker 1: spent almost every night in the bubble, playing games, cooking,
- 43:16Speaker 1: we had spelling bees, we did everything. But then to
- 43:22Speaker 1: go from making a decision, and I think that's what
- 43:24Speaker 1: I value about our relationship is that we make decisions
- 43:29Speaker 1: with our best interests, but we know that we're always
- 43:32Speaker 1: still going to be there. I mean, we didn't know
- 43:34Speaker 1: it was going to be written that I was going
- 43:35Speaker 1: to come to Vegas or whatever. But how hard was
- 43:37Speaker 1: that for you to make the decision because that's your
- 43:39Speaker 1: first real free agency decision that you got an opportunity
- 43:42Speaker 1: to play where you wanted to.
- 43:44Speaker 3: So there were like three buckets right there was one
- 43:46Speaker 3: like I thought I was going to retire with them
- 43:49Speaker 3: like I saw it, family was able to get there,
- 43:52Speaker 3: and then three was honestly playing with you, and I
- 43:55Speaker 3: was just like, this is we didn't know about Vegas
- 43:58Speaker 3: like you said, It was like it was we didn't
- 44:00Speaker 3: know that was going to be our last time. It
- 44:01Speaker 3: didn't end on a good note, and the bubb was like,
- 44:03Speaker 3: we didn't know. And so we had gotten close, and
- 44:06Speaker 3: so that conversation I was dreading that conversation. I remember
- 44:09Speaker 3: I was to be was like, you're gonna call it now.
- 44:11Speaker 3: I was like, no, I'll do it tomorrow. I'll do tomorrow.
- 44:14Speaker 3: I'm not ready. I was emotional just because it was
- 44:16Speaker 3: an end. I felt that it was just like an
- 44:18Speaker 3: end of something that didn't have like a bow on it,
- 44:22Speaker 3: and so there was more out there, and that was
- 44:25Speaker 3: that was the hardest part for me. But I understood
- 44:29Speaker 3: that in order for me to you know, get better
- 44:31Speaker 3: into and for a franchise to see my value, I
- 44:34Speaker 3: had to leave. I had to go, and so it
- 44:37Speaker 3: was it was difficult, as heck man, But you know,
- 44:41Speaker 3: now looking back on those, one of the greatest decisions
- 44:43Speaker 3: of my life to do that, and I actually think
- 44:45Speaker 3: we got closer after that. We had to becoming intentional
- 44:50Speaker 3: of like spending time and like seeing each other. When
- 44:52Speaker 3: you're seeing each other practice every day, it's like, ah,
- 44:55Speaker 3: I'll say it tomorrow, but no, we had to be
- 44:57Speaker 3: intentional with our words, put our phones down because we
- 44:59Speaker 3: only had twelve hours, you know. So I thought at
- 45:04Speaker 3: the end of the day, like off the court, it
- 45:05Speaker 3: made us closer and our family's closer.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And I also think that the time with the Sparks,
- 45:10Speaker 1: you know, everybody kind of looks back and there was
- 45:13Speaker 1: no bow at the end of that. But I also
- 45:15Speaker 1: think I valued going through tough experiences alongside you because
- 45:20Speaker 1: I don't know if I would have gotten through the
- 45:22Speaker 1: last couple of years without you, like to be honest
- 45:25Speaker 1: with you, just in terms of mentally just draining going
- 45:30Speaker 1: through the ups and downs. We all know, you know,
- 45:32Speaker 1: I don't mess with Derek Fisher, so just the mind
- 45:36Speaker 1: games and the you know, the issues that we had
- 45:40Speaker 1: internally as a team, as an organization. So I think
- 45:44Speaker 1: there's value in finding someone that you can go through
- 45:47Speaker 1: those tough times, because when you do go through the
- 45:49Speaker 1: great times, I feel like that's that much sweeter.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:53Speaker 3: I remember we after that season. I Wassy called you.
- 45:57Speaker 3: You were just like, I just don't want to talk
- 45:59Speaker 3: right now. I was just like, dang, she left me
- 46:01Speaker 3: all red Like it was like a communicator. I think
- 46:04Speaker 3: with our friendship and like our understanding of greatness and
- 46:08Speaker 3: sports grew in that moment too, because it was like
- 46:11Speaker 3: you need space, I need space. But at the end
- 46:13Speaker 3: of the day, like there's a respect, there's a love
- 46:15Speaker 3: there that we're going to come back to.
- 46:17Speaker 2: We just need the.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Time, a lot of time, which is crazy to think about.
- 46:22Speaker 3: And then I was like, well, you're.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Still in my wedding, right, I'll stay at the wedding. Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 1: I was a bridesmaid at her wedding. Yeah, of course
- 46:34Speaker 1: I was gonna be in your wedding, Stef. You know
- 46:35Speaker 1: that it was life impersonal. I just am a person
- 46:38Speaker 1: that when something happens, I need time to process because
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't like my emotions to get away from me.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I don't want to ever say anything I don't mean.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I feel like I'm very intentional with what I say
- 46:50Speaker 1: and when I want to say it, I want to
- 46:52Speaker 1: mean it.
- 46:52Speaker 3: And so it was nothing you did, No, I think
- 46:57Speaker 3: part of it, Yes, it was something. It was a
- 46:59Speaker 3: lot of it that nothing that I did. But I
- 47:01Speaker 3: think I wasn't a person in that moment that I
- 47:05Speaker 3: am now to be able to communicate that to Derek
- 47:09Speaker 3: or to communicate that.
- 47:10Speaker 1: But there's also you there's also a youth level. Yeah,
- 47:14Speaker 1: so I think in talking to you these last two years,
- 47:19Speaker 1: you are very deliberate with your communication and directness that
- 47:22Speaker 1: I am proud of because I think as you get older,
- 47:25Speaker 1: you realize the need that like when those moments you
- 47:27Speaker 1: actually need to communicate more, you can't pull back and
- 47:31Speaker 1: not do those things. And so I don't know, I
- 47:33Speaker 1: think watching you mentor the next generation now you know
- 47:37Speaker 1: I sat with, I would say you and Kyle are like,
- 47:42Speaker 1: I mean, two of my favorite players I've ever played with, obviously,
- 47:45Speaker 1: but two of the players that I've been most proud
- 47:47Speaker 1: of watching being your vet, but then also now watching
- 47:51Speaker 1: you and the way you move and how you mentor
- 47:54Speaker 1: you're playing with an all time great in Asia Wilson now,
- 47:59Speaker 1: but watching you and the way you communicate with her
- 48:02Speaker 1: and how that evolution has happened, it makes me smile
- 48:06Speaker 1: because I see some things and I'm like, yep, like okay, yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 1: like I don't.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Know a little so like, yeah, it's been it's been cool.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Like from our first year, I knew she was gonna
- 48:20Speaker 3: be great, just like the first thing, like just being around,
- 48:24Speaker 3: like from Afari, just like she's hard to guard, don't
- 48:26Speaker 3: let her go left. It's easier said than done. But
- 48:28Speaker 3: she's really really good. And so I think the like
- 48:33Speaker 3: your point guard and your post got to be on
- 48:35Speaker 3: the same kind of line, and you can't really win
- 48:38Speaker 3: if that's that's not a line to me, Like if
- 48:41Speaker 3: you go down the line, you've had that. And so
- 48:45Speaker 3: just being a part of that, like understanding where she
- 48:47Speaker 3: likes the basketball, so she can be great, knowing plays
- 48:50Speaker 3: that she likes, like right off the top, like I
- 48:52Speaker 3: know in this moment where she would want the basketball
- 48:55Speaker 3: or if she hasn't touched it in a minute. And
- 48:58Speaker 3: I'll go down the line with like Jackie and and
- 49:01Speaker 3: KP and like just seeing all the things and so
- 49:04Speaker 3: being around and she's so good and so great, she's
- 49:07Speaker 3: a great person, and so being around that, I just
- 49:11Speaker 3: wanted to cultivate like that kind of environment and have
- 49:14Speaker 3: fun doing it. Like we're gonna have fun, We're gonna
- 49:17Speaker 3: enjoy each other, but it's gonna be a level of
- 49:20Speaker 3: trying to just go in at the end of the day.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Now whole business. Yeah, you'll be proud Jackie having tequila.
- 49:26Speaker 3: Sometimes I'll be like, Jackie, you gotta have tequila, And
- 49:29Speaker 3: that's you too, you know what I'm saying.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Now everybody is gonna think I'm even more of a
- 49:32Speaker 1: USh got to talk about I want to talk about
- 49:36Speaker 1: ginger Ale, Okay? And also, you know now I think
- 49:41Speaker 1: sitting back and bringing that proud vet and watching you
- 49:44Speaker 1: transition into media and you cover Kings, Sacramento Kings. I've
- 49:50Speaker 1: been able to catch you on a couple postgame shows,
- 49:53Speaker 1: and you know, how has media impacted the way that
- 49:57Speaker 1: you already see the game? At another level.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Is being able to communicate your point with an audience
- 50:03Speaker 3: that has no idea what you're talking about or an
- 50:05Speaker 3: opinion for TV. How to work with other people that
- 50:11Speaker 3: probably doesn't see the game the same way you do.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Are you more on time to media interviews because of it?
- 50:18Speaker 1: Because I felt I felt like when we would do
- 50:20Speaker 1: a pre production meeting my first year in media, and
- 50:24Speaker 1: you know, the player would come out like twenty five
- 50:26Speaker 1: minutes later, and you've been sitting there with your questions
- 50:29Speaker 1: for you know whatever time, So like, I make it.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I made it a point in my last few years
- 50:33Speaker 1: of to be like on time.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Stuff like that was always kind of your your kind
- 50:39Speaker 2: of on time issue.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I think, oh, you're always on time pretty much time
- 50:43Speaker 1: I was always the player that would come out like, oh,
- 50:45Speaker 1: you've been sitting here forever I made I put ice
- 50:48Speaker 1: on knees and all that stuff. Now I'm like, yeah,
- 50:50Speaker 1: in my jersey, I'll do the interview because I'm like,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't want you to have
- 50:53Speaker 1: to wait.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Oh that's really say to go to dinner. Are you
- 50:57Speaker 3: good about doing that? I'm always on time. It's twenty
- 51:00Speaker 3: twenty five. I haven't been late yet.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Let's talk about kids real quick, can't really real quick
- 51:07Speaker 1: it because I've seen you in motherhood. Son Lenox is
- 51:11Speaker 1: just your entire heart. You can tell just like how
- 51:15Speaker 1: your face lights up. What is basketball like? Now that
- 51:18Speaker 1: he's a part of this journey.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Man, he has a hoop in his little pit in
- 51:20Speaker 3: his little playpen, one side a hoop, one side socker.
- 51:25Speaker 3: I would always turn point to the basketball and say wow,
- 51:29Speaker 3: hoop in One of his first five words is wow.
- 51:33Speaker 3: So it's just it's cool. Like I walked out with
- 51:36Speaker 3: him a ring. It was pretty good. I saw you do.
- 51:40Speaker 2: That was good. I was like, that's gotta be dope.
- 51:42Speaker 3: And just like he's born and it just happened that
- 51:45Speaker 3: we won a championship. Man of course I'm walking out
- 51:48Speaker 3: with my guys. So it's cool, Like, I can't wait
- 51:51Speaker 3: for this next season that he's going to be able
- 51:53Speaker 3: to walk around and be able to enjoy it a
- 51:55Speaker 3: little bit more and be around the players, be a
- 51:56Speaker 3: little bit more self sufficient. But he was able to
- 52:00Speaker 3: go to games and I look up and I see
- 52:02Speaker 3: him in the stands, and it's it's there's no love
- 52:05Speaker 3: like you have for your kids.
- 52:06Speaker 2: It's kind of indescribable.
- 52:08Speaker 3: I would say, I want him to do whatever he once,
- 52:13Speaker 3: but of course he's he got a basketball in in
- 52:15Speaker 3: his crib and he got a basketball.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Well, when you all were over at the house the
- 52:19Speaker 1: other day, he threw the ball and looked this way. Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 1: so he's already got the no look he saw pass down.
- 52:24Speaker 2: The only TV he really watches is me play.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I'm just saying, he don't look when he passes. He's
- 52:29Speaker 1: always no look for me for every single pass that
- 52:32Speaker 1: he has. But I I just think you and Tip
- 52:35Speaker 1: are phenomenal parents, and it's been fun watching you. Thank
- 52:38Speaker 1: you along this journey, and I'm appreciative of the things
- 52:43Speaker 1: that you have done for my kids. I mean, you
- 52:46Speaker 1: pulled up to birthday parties for Laila at parks when
- 52:49Speaker 1: it was freezing cold. You pulled up to her volleyball games,
- 52:53Speaker 1: her basketball games, and so I'm looking forward to being
- 52:57Speaker 1: able to be there and be presentent show Lenox how
- 53:01Speaker 1: to look on passes.
- 53:02Speaker 3: You know, kids remember that stuff, man, like you remember
- 53:05Speaker 3: who shows up? Or like who you have to call?
- 53:07Speaker 3: Who are mommy and Mama's friends? That like if something happens,
- 53:11Speaker 3: like who do you call? That's not like family? And
- 53:14Speaker 3: so I always wanted to be that for your kids, right,
- 53:18Speaker 3: and I want Lenox to experience that with you guys.
- 53:20Speaker 3: And so I think it's important to have a village
- 53:23Speaker 3: outside of your immediate family.
- 53:24Speaker 1: One hundred percent. I could not agree more. And I
- 53:27Speaker 1: am like super appreciative of like those moments. You're not
- 53:32Speaker 1: done yet, obviously, I mean you a vet, but you're
- 53:36Speaker 1: not super vety. You got a laundry list of accomplishments
- 53:41Speaker 1: that you put together for yourself. But like, what's next
- 53:44Speaker 1: in store for Chelsea Gray? What do you want next?
- 53:48Speaker 3: H What I want next? I want to climb up
- 53:51Speaker 3: that leaderboard and mount of assists. Damn wait, hold on,
- 53:54Speaker 3: I don't know where I'm at ri else.
- 53:55Speaker 1: You are seventh and I'm eighth. You better not climb
- 53:57Speaker 1: that leaderboard. I need to hold on to my ace, girl.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I need to go up. Obviously, more championships. If I
- 54:04Speaker 3: had the opportunity to play in the Olympics in the
- 54:06Speaker 3: United States, that would be pretty cool.
- 54:08Speaker 2: And my son could really explaince that.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that is the goal right now is to be there, healthy,
- 54:16Speaker 3: be there, win championships. And like I said that orange jacket,
- 54:21Speaker 3: I want that. And so each year is about me
- 54:26Speaker 3: being great, me being better, but also making other people
- 54:29Speaker 3: great as well.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I love that. I think that is in your future.
- 54:35Speaker 1: What is something that you live by. What is a
- 54:38Speaker 1: piece of advice or quote that has been given to
- 54:40Speaker 1: you that you live by and has gotten you to
- 54:44Speaker 1: where you're at now.
- 54:45Speaker 3: If you don't see a path, create your own. And
- 54:48Speaker 3: I think I've been able to do that. Yes, I
- 54:51Speaker 3: take a little bit here from this person, a little
- 54:54Speaker 3: bit there. Some people are just like I want to
- 54:56Speaker 3: do exactly what she did, and something happens, Adversity happens, injury,
- 55:01Speaker 3: or you switch teams that you know you were going
- 55:03Speaker 3: to go to. You play in a city that's like
- 55:07Speaker 3: it was supposed to be a vacation destination. Now it's
- 55:09Speaker 3: your list of the like where you live. So I
- 55:12Speaker 3: always say, like, if you don't see a path, create
- 55:15Speaker 3: your own, like it'll be fine.
- 55:17Speaker 1: That is like you could probably ask me a million things,
- 55:20Speaker 1: and I that I've never heard you say that. That's amazing.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I mean you've done it and you represented it.
- 55:25Speaker 2: But I think that's my thing.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I never asked you that. Okay, I'm gonna have to, so, like,
- 55:30Speaker 1: what's your biggest fear?
- 55:32Speaker 2: Sharks and crocodiles.
- 55:35Speaker 1: But now we're in Miami is the.
- 55:37Speaker 3: There's both here. I will not I'll be on the
- 55:40Speaker 3: boat in the water. I would not touch the water.
- 55:43Speaker 1: No. But yeah, she's really serious, like she is so afraid,
- 55:46Speaker 1: so to the point where I like all I do
- 55:48Speaker 1: on Instagram is send her videos of crocodiles.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I know, like we'd like things like if you encounter one,
- 55:53Speaker 3: what you're supposed to do, like different things.
- 55:55Speaker 1: She's like, I'm not gonna encounter it.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Yeah, she won't even put her feet in the water
- 55:59Speaker 1: in the sitting off the pool.
- 56:00Speaker 2: I got you at the pool.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to take you snorkeling at some point,
- 56:06Speaker 1: all right, So we're gonna do this last segment before
- 56:09Speaker 1: we wrap up. Okay, okay, the segment is called who
- 56:11Speaker 1: said that? I'm going to read you a quote about yourself,
- 56:16Speaker 1: and you've got to tell me who said it.
- 56:20Speaker 2: This is I don't have to like the cheat.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I like the cheat, so I put the paper up.
- 56:25Speaker 2: I don't have it like a listen like the cheats.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I put the paper up.
- 56:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 56:30Speaker 1: She's probably the salt, something that you just need a
- 56:34Speaker 1: little kick to it to change the whole meal.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Kelsey Plum. No, oh, the salt. She said something about
- 56:45Speaker 2: salt when you bake a cake.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Asia Wilson. In September of Asia said that Asia, I'd
- 56:54Speaker 1: be upset. She didna give you credit. My bad, Chelsea.
- 57:00Speaker 1: This has been amazing. The only thing that would have
- 57:03Speaker 1: made it a little better is if we could have
- 57:05Speaker 1: had a nice little cab, a bold cab.
- 57:09Speaker 2: I'm having some bowld water.
- 57:12Speaker 1: But no, I appreciate you sitting down, getting candid with
- 57:16Speaker 1: us and sharing how your greatness has allowed you to
- 57:21Speaker 1: be sitting in a seat. I'm rooting for you this season.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Stay healthy. I still think your team is like unfair.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I don't understand.
- 57:27Speaker 2: I'm sad. I'm saying that so much.
- 57:29Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying AnyWho, but thank you for
- 57:32Speaker 1: sitting down in the trophy room, thank you for having
- 57:35Speaker 1: me looking forward to you adding more trophies to that.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Abslutely, absolutely
