Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Is this your diamond? We're talking diamonds.
- 0:08Speaker 2: This is a great song, by the way, from the 80s.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Herb Albert and Janet Jackson, a song called Diamonds. But
- 0:16Speaker 1: there is a couple on Long Island and they're not
- 0:19Speaker 1: being selfish. They're not going to keep something. They're trying
- 0:21Speaker 1: to find the owners.
- 0:22Speaker 3: They're so nice. I know. So this couple goes to,
- 0:25Speaker 3: they're going to a Broadway show. And then they're going
- 0:27Speaker 3: to Tony DiNapoli's for dinner before the show. And the woman, Michelle,
- 0:33Speaker 3: one of the ladies, sees something shiny in the front door,
- 0:37Speaker 3: kind of in the vestibule. And she goes to pick
- 0:39Speaker 3: it up. And then afterwards, when she had time, when
- 0:42Speaker 3: she got home and she cleaned it off, she saw
- 0:44Speaker 3: it was a diamond.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Like a really nice diamond, she said, that it had
- 0:51Speaker 3: numbers on it. It was engraved, which means it's got certification.
- 0:57Speaker 3: She believes the IGI, which is one of the world's
- 1:00Speaker 3: largest diamond grading organizations. And she said when she realized
- 1:03Speaker 3: it was engraved, then she knew like this is worth
- 1:08Speaker 3: a lot and it's worth a lot probably in a
- 1:10Speaker 3: sentimental way to someone. Like this could be somebody's grandmother's
- 1:15Speaker 3: diamond or it could be for an engagement ring that
- 1:17Speaker 3: they saved for their whole life. And she wants to
- 1:21Speaker 3: get it back to her. the person it belongs to.
- 1:24Speaker 1: When they probably could just keep it and never tell anybody. Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But they're doing the right thing.
- 1:29Speaker 3: They are doing the right thing. So these ladies, Michelle
- 1:32Speaker 3: and Jennifer DeLucia, or DeLuca, they've done something like this before.
- 1:38Speaker 3: They said there was a visitor here in town from
- 1:41Speaker 3: New Zealand, and they found their passport in Times Square,
- 1:43Speaker 3: and they made sure that that person was reunited with
- 1:46Speaker 3: their passport. They say for them, it's just really important
- 1:49Speaker 3: to always give back. Because, again, this could be incredibly
- 1:53Speaker 3: important to someone, this diamond.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So I wonder how someone's going to prove, though, yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 1: that's my diamond.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I lost it. I know you have the engravement.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And they haven't really said what's on the engraving. Well,
- 2:04Speaker 1: you could.
- 2:05Speaker 3: At least the article.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I'm seeing it doesn't say that.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:09Speaker 3: That would confirm, the engravement would confirm details about the diamond,
- 2:13Speaker 3: its cut, carat weight, color clarity, and original purchase date.
- 2:16Speaker 3: And those details. Oh. might be what will help you
- 2:20Speaker 3: verify that that's your stone.
- 2:21Speaker 1: If everything matches up.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Maybe you've got the certificate at home that goes with
- 2:26Speaker 3: the diamond.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Wow. That's very nice that they're actually really trying hard.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yeah, they're putting it out there to the media. I
- 2:33Speaker 3: know NBC News has covered it, so it's been on television.
- 2:38Speaker 3: They're trying to find the owners of this diamond.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And if this couple that's trying so hard to find
- 2:43Speaker 2: the owners of the diamond, if the owner never comes forward.
- 2:47Speaker 1: you're going to feel better about keeping it.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You're going to have a good conscience.
- 2:51Speaker 3: They don't have to feel guilty about that.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 3: They said they don't want anything for it, except they
- 2:55Speaker 3: said like to the owner, pay it forward, like just
- 2:57Speaker 3: good deeds. Like they're just trying to keep it positive.
- 3:00Speaker 3: So I, you know, um, you would probably do the
- 3:02Speaker 3: same thing when you come. Hell no.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I probably keep that, uh, coming up. We got journey tickets.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
