Transcript
- 0:17Ross: There's the opening crack.
- 0:19Ross: It's time for the opening crack, the sideshow to the D&D show we normally do, where we rank and where we taste and rank.
- 0:25Ross: It's been a while since we've done that.
- 0:26Damen: The ranking then would be
- 0:27Phil: funny to rank it first and then go back at the end and see if you were right.
- 0:30Phil: Blind rank.
- 0:32Phil: Yeah.
- 0:32Phil: Blind rank.
- 0:33Ross: Wow.
- 0:34Ross: Well, stay tuned to the next episode of the opening crack where we where we rank them.
- 0:37Ross: Yeah, blind rank it.
- 0:38Ross: Do you want to start that tonight?
- 0:42Ross: That really wasn't the plan, but we can.
- 0:43Damen: Oh no, it's too late now.
- 0:44Damen: Well, maybe it's not.
- 0:47Damen: I don't know.
- 0:49Phil: We could rate it on Clyde.
- 0:51Ross: We could.
- 0:52Ross: You want to do a blind rating?
- 0:53Ross: Next time.
- 0:54Ross: Everybody listening to the screen.
- 0:55Ross: We've already tasted it.
- 0:56Ross: Come back next time you see the.
- 0:58Ross: Everybody listening to this is so confused right now.
- 1:01Ross: I mean, like, what else is new for the opening crack?
- 1:04Damen: Uh, Phil, what are we drinking tonight?
- 1:05Phil: We are drinking Clyde's caramel cream.
- 1:08Phil: It's a caramel and vanilla ale brewed by Burr Oak Brewing Company out of Columbia, Missouri.
- 1:15Ross: Shout out to all you Mizzou fans out there.
- 1:19Ross: Crickets.
- 1:20Ross: Yeah, you can hear them.
- 1:20Ross: Crickets.
- 1:21Ross: Crickets.
- 1:21Ross: Crickets.
- 1:22Ross: Crickets.
- 1:22Ross: Okay.
- 1:23Damen: I heard them.
- 1:24Damen: The crickets?
- 1:25Damen: So we're here.
- 1:27Damen: I love, I mean, I hope they are here.
- 1:29Damen: We love cats.
- 1:31Damen: Big cats, little cats.
- 1:33Damen: You know?
- 1:34Damen: Sure.
- 1:35Phil: Cats with monocles.
- 1:36Damen: Yeah.
- 1:36Damen: I love it.
- 1:37Damen: Aren't they the tigers?
- 1:38Damen: Isn't that their deal?
- 1:39Phil: Yeah.
- 1:39Ross: They are the tigers.
- 1:40Ross: I did.
- 1:42Ross: You did, obviously, yes.
- 1:44Ross: Well, well done, Damon.
- 1:45Ross: Uh, go ahead and take a sip.
- 1:47Ross: Uh, while you're doing that, I will uh read the description for this one from Burr Oak Marine.
- 1:51Ross: Clyde's caramel cream ale is a silky cream ale.
- 1:54Ross: Clyde is named after our famous rescue cat who keeps a watchful eye on grain intruders.
- 2:00Ross: Mildly sweet with notes of caramel and vanilla, this cream ale has a luxurious mouthfeel and a smooth, creamy finish.
- 2:07Ross: What are your initial thoughts?
- 2:08Ross: Brett.
- 2:09Ross: That's too bad.
- 2:11Ross: He's like savory.
- 2:12Ross: Did you see that?
- 2:13Ross: Wait, should I come to you?
- 2:15Ross: Is this a missed opportunity?
- 2:17Damen: I was just gonna say, I don't think that that cat is as famous as they think it is.
- 2:21Brett: I think you should come back to me.
- 2:23Brett: Uh oh.
- 2:23Brett: Brett has to go.
- 2:25Damen: Okay.
- 2:26Ross: Pause.
- 2:26Ross: Before you go back.
- 2:26Ross: Yes, he does, because notoriously on this show, Brett loaves cream males.
- 2:34Ross: I don't know.
- 2:34Ross: Maybe that's too.
- 2:35Brett: I was trying to think of what Damon's saying is when we try pickle beers.
- 2:39Brett: Something like uh I appreciate its quality for the style that it is.
- 2:44Brett: Or something like that.
- 2:45Brett: Okay.
- 2:46Damen: I'm sure it's a good representation of the style.
- 2:48Brett: That's that's the line.
- 2:49Ross: Model that up.
- 2:50Ross: We'll come back to you.
- 2:51Ross: I want you to stew on that for another minute.
- 2:52Ross: Phil, go ahead.
- 2:54Damen: So actually, uh what I appreciated the most about your description of this beer was luxurious because it does feel like like as it goes across the tongue, it's a full mouthfeel.
- 3:04Damen: Like it's an experience in a delicious way.
- 3:07Damen: I don't know.
- 3:09Ross: I don't disagree.
- 3:10Damen: I really enjoyed this.
- 3:11Ross: It's uh heavy vanilla flavor.
- 3:13Ross: The nose on this feels like it's it's like cream soda.
- 3:17Ross: That vanilla coming through nice and some shit wrong.
- 3:19Ross: I I love that.
- 3:20Ross: I like cream sodas.
- 3:22Damen: I feel as though we're gonna have a 2v2 situation here.
- 3:25Damen: Uh oh.
- 3:26Damen: Because I don't really care for this beer very much.
- 3:28Damen: Oh man.
- 3:29Damen: Oh no.
- 3:30Damen: Oh no.
- 3:31Damen: I think it's uh I think that the we I think there should be another category of beers, and it should be novelty beers.
- 3:42Brett: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 3:42Brett: Are you putting pickles in this?
- 3:43Brett: Yes, yes.
- 3:45Damen: Yes, any stupid beer that somebody comes up with.
- 3:48Brett: Are they like habanero beers like that?
- 3:51Damen: Yes, those are all novelty beers.
- 3:53Brett: The super hot one.
- 3:54Brett: Like the yeah.
- 3:55Ross: So so do you feel this because like the like this is not like a traditional beer flavor, so it's like that's why it should be grouped in this?
- 4:01Ross: Or I just want a beer.
- 4:03Ross: Sure.
- 4:04Ross: Okay, fair.
- 4:05Damen: This hit this tastes like root beer.
- 4:07Ross: I do, I get I do it.
- 4:08Ross: Or a sassy out of it, yeah.
- 4:10Damen: Or something along those lines.
- 4:13Damen: Remember a few years ago when uh who was that?
- 4:15Damen: There was like hard root beer was all the phrase.
- 4:18Damen: Uh yes, I do remember what that was like a one hard ripped beer.
- 4:22Damen: Not your grandfather's or something like that.
- 4:24Ross: Yeah, that's not your grandpa's hard root beer.
- 4:26Damen: And then everybody thought, oh boy, we should make a hard ripped beer.
- 4:28Damen: Yeah.
- 4:29Damen: Like, well, no, like there's a like a reason that nobody had really been making hard root beers before.
- 4:34Damen: Fair.
- 4:35Ross: And they I mean, but they're not going for hard root beer here.
- 4:39Damen: Caramel cream.
- 4:40Damen: So I don't know if that's what they're going for or not, but that's kind of where they ended up.
- 4:49Brett: It's kind of like they put one of those masks on that had like the big glasses and the big nose.
- 4:53Brett: Like, I'm not a root beer.
- 4:55Brett: Do you try to see that?
- 4:57Brett: There's some very harsh opinions in this room right now.
- 5:00Damen: It's got a trench coat on it.
- 5:01Damen: I don't know that we've ever rated one, but I know we've had like a vanilla bean ale.
- 5:04Damen: Is it that drastically different, you think, than like a vanilla bean ale?
- 5:08Damen: I don't really care for those either.
- 5:10Damen: Okay.
- 5:10Ross: Because like that is style.
- 5:13Ross: That gave Brett pause.
- 5:15Ross: I know.
- 5:16Damen: Because it's not that dissimilar to that.
- 5:18Brett: I would agree with that.
- 5:19Brett: This has a lot more of the smoothness with the caramel in there that wasn't necessarily there with like the vanilla bean ales.
- 5:29Ross: Yeah.
- 5:30Ross: Fair.
- 5:31Ross: Sure.
- 5:32Ross: So you do you not and like comparing to other cream ales?
- 5:38Ross: Like, is it down there with them or is this one above it?
- 5:42Ross: I guess I'm not sure.
- 5:43Brett: This one is far above.
- 5:45Brett: Oh, uh, do you remember the chonk?
- 5:47Brett: The creamy chonk one.
- 5:48Ross: Oh god, those were good.
- 5:49Ross: Yes, so good.
- 5:51Damen: Uh that was the ones that are kind of like more like they're kind of more like a smoothie.
- 5:56Brett: Yeah.
- 5:56Brett: I like this more than that.
- 5:59Phil: Okay.
- 6:00Brett: Uh, because this is closer to like I put caramel macchiato syrup in my coffee.
- 6:07Brett: This is more like that.
- 6:09Damen: Okay.
- 6:10Brett: Compared to just like a scoop of ice cream.
- 6:12Brett: Sure.
- 6:14Brett: Uh give us a facts on this beer, yeah.
- 6:17Ross: Yeah, what is what are we even?
- 6:18Ross: What are the facts?
- 6:19Ross: I mean, we've been talking about what beer.
- 6:21Ross: Uh it's a 5.7 on the ABBs.
- 6:24Ross: Uh IB used for this one 15, which makes sense.
- 6:27Ross: Like, I don't I don't get any bitterness.
- 6:29Ross: Like, they they crack like they even admit that it's more of a dessert beer, which I feel like that fits really well.
- 6:34Ross: Oh, yeah.
- 6:35Ross: I almost wonder if that should be the the group that these are in.
- 6:39Ross: Because there's several other beers that could that could go in that group.
- 6:42Ross: I think the cream ale side of it lends itself really well to the dessert y part of it.
- 6:47Ross: I'm not a fan of cream ale's either, so I'm kind of in Brett's bow, but it there's something back.
- 6:54Damen: I think it's the vanilla.
- 6:55Damen: That's what?
- 6:56Damen: That m makes it feel more like a dessert.
- 6:58Damen: Because it's like ice cream.
- 7:00Damen: More like vanilla ice cream.
- 7:01Brett: Like this would go good with apple pie.
- 7:03Damen: Like like I make a cream ale that has no lactose or any cream in it at all.
- 7:08Damen: Like the style cream ale doesn't necessarily have anything to do with dairy.
- 7:14Damen: Yeah, sure.
- 7:15Damen: Like with cream.
- 7:16Damen: Um it's just a light style of beer.
- 7:22Damen: Um yeah, but I yeah, I think that that the vanilla that's in there.
- 7:27Damen: I don't I don't know if you guys taste caramel in it, really, or not.
- 7:31Ross: No, it's to me it's all vanilla.
- 7:33Damen: Yeah, I don't notice that it's caramel, I guess.
- 7:36Damen: Over the vanilla.
- 7:37Brett: Unless it's that I get the same smoothness with the caramel.
- 7:40Brett: That's what I wondered.
- 7:41Damen: If that is that just a trick.
- 7:43Damen: Is it a trick of the minds?
- 7:46Ross: I wonder if that's where we're getting like the root beer vibe from it.
- 7:49Ross: Because you get the vanilla, which is obviously a very forward part of root beer, but then that caramel adds like that brown sugary kind of toastiness, very light toastiness.
- 7:58Ross: Like next week neighbors to each other, yeah.
- 8:00Ross: Yeah, that's yeah, that's a great way.
- 8:01Ross: They're like caramel and brown sugar, like and and not like neighbors like no normal neighbors, not like a mile and a quarter away neighbor, but like the neighbor where like you live in a subdivision where they built the houses too close, like you can open a window and like shake hands with your neighbor.
- 8:14Ross: Yes.
- 8:14Ross: That that can I have a cup of sugar.
- 8:16Ross: Yes.
- 8:16Ross: Do you have any gray coupon?
- 8:18Damen: Like you can reach into their window from your window.
- 8:21Ross: Correct.
- 8:21Ross: Think like a la, you know, Denver, any big city.
- 8:25Ross: That's kind of what I'm thinking.
- 8:27Ross: Like neighbors.
- 8:27Ross: Sorry, that was a little off.
- 8:29Brett: Out of everywhere in the world that you could have picked for an example of that, you go Denver?
- 8:34Damen: Yeah, Denver, Iowa.
- 8:35Brett: But not Denver, Iowa.
- 8:36Brett: Not like probably not that's a micro.
- 8:38Damen: Anywhere on the East Coast.
- 8:39Damen: But we met Matt Dinnaman in Denver.
- 8:42Ross: I go to Denver a lot.
- 8:43Ross: So Denver pops up in my brain a lot.
- 8:44Ross: Okay.
- 8:45Ross: But like I don't I don't venture too often.
- 8:47Ross: Row house?
- 8:48Ross: I don't venture too often to Jersey.
- 8:50Ross: Yeah.
- 8:51Ross: I don't either, but to Brooklyn.
- 8:53Damen: In Baltimore, we should go to Brooklyn, Iowa.
- 8:55Damen: I don't go to Brooklyn, Iowa either.
- 8:57Damen: I could knock my neighbors into the wall in Baltimore, my row home.
- 9:01Brett: Is there a version of every town in Iowa?
- 9:04Ross: I mean that's because Iowa couldn't come up with any other better names.
- 9:07Ross: Because like all town names are named after people.
- 9:10Ross: So is there a Nebraska, Iowa?
- 9:12Brett: Probably.
- 9:13Damen: Wouldn't surprise me.
- 9:14Damen: Probably Nebraska City.
- 9:16Brett: You should.
- 9:17Brett: I wish you guys could have seen Damon's face.
- 9:19Brett: He was like going through a map of Iowa in his head.
- 9:21Ross: He's like, wait, maybe.
- 9:23Damen: I'm not aware of one, but I mean, there's an Atlanta, Nebraska.
- 9:28Damen: There is.
- 9:28Damen: That's true.
- 9:29Damen: And I think maybe also Springfield, Nebraska.
- 9:32Damen: There is a Springfield, Nebraska, yeah.
- 9:34Damen: So I mean, I'm just saying, you know.
- 9:35Brett: Oh, yeah.
- 9:36Brett: It's not a people have.
- 9:37Brett: They're basically the same state.
- 9:39Damen: True.
- 9:39Damen: It's so true.
- 9:40Ross: Yes, you're exactly right.
- 9:41Ross: Don't tell Iowa fans that.
- 9:43Ross: Sorry, Demon.
- 9:44Phil: Yeah.
- 9:45Ross: Before we get too far off the beam path here, Phil, can you describe the can for us?
- 9:49Phil: Oh, that's there's a beer.
- 9:51Ross: But I can help with this.
- 9:52Damen: It's cylindrical and metallic.
- 9:55Damen: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:56Damen: That's the word I was looking at.
- 9:57Damen: It's a label on it.
- 10:00Damen: And on the label is printed Clyde.
- 10:02Damen: In all of I'm making an assumption here, his glory, with a uh black top hat and a monocle over his right eye, as he is, what did it say?
- 10:14Damen: Keeping the critters out of the grain.
- 10:16Phil: Yes.
- 10:17Damen: Uh I actually really like this can.
- 10:18Damen: I think that it's like kind of a classy look.
- 10:20Damen: It would get me to pick the can up off the shelf.
- 10:24Ross: I agree.
- 10:24Ross: And then I would put it down when it said caramel cream ale.
- 10:27Ross: But you like it.
- 10:29Ross: I don't mind it.
- 10:30Ross: I would not buy it for myself, though.
- 10:32Ross: It's not one I would pick up, probably.
- 10:34Damen: I would.
- 10:34Damen: I can tell you it stood out amongst the sea of IPAs and double IPAs and hazy IPAs.
- 10:41Damen: All the neon colors, all the labels.
- 10:43Damen: Yeah.
- 10:43Brett: Yes.
- 10:44Brett: Like it's it's definitely a more subdued can in the world of can design these days.
- 10:49Brett: True.
- 10:50Brett: It feels like old fashioned.
- 10:52Brett: Yes.
- 10:52Brett: But like in a in a like old fashioned but in a unmodern way.
- 10:58Damen: This cat looks as though he would fit in with that um uh the Victorian era candelabra?
- 11:08Damen: The one candela.
- 11:10Phil: Oh, candelab's.
- 11:11Phil: Yes, he would fit in candelabs.
- 11:14Damen: Candelabra.
- 11:15Phil: Yeah.
- 11:16Damen: He looks like a character out of there.
- 11:20Ross: Yes, I I don't disagree with that.
- 11:22Ross: I like that.
- 11:23Ross: I think the Clydes uh font makes me think of uh um cheers.
- 11:29Damen: Oh yeah, a little bit it's a little more motorcycle than that.
- 11:33Damen: Sure.
- 11:33Damen: What do you mean by motorcycle?
- 11:35Damen: It looks like a motorcycle font.
- 11:38Damen: I don't know.
- 11:38Ross: Oh, because like slanty or what?
- 11:42Damen: Yeah, it's like it's got these weird little angly bits in the L and the Y.
- 11:47Ross: I've never heard a font described as motorcycle, but I I I'm talking about I appreciate what you're saying.
- 11:52Ross: Yeah, you're right.
- 11:53Brett: That's just that's new to me.
- 11:55Brett: Or the the angly bits.
- 11:57Brett: I love the angly bits.
- 12:00Damen: Sometimes you wanna go where needless to say, this cat does not look like the cat on the chonk cans.
- 12:06Ross: No, definitely not really.
- 12:08Ross: That's a very like donut style cat, like flat faced.
- 12:12Damen: Although this hat.
- 12:14Ross: True.
- 12:14Ross: True.
- 12:15Ross: Okay, so let's bring some D&D into this because we're gonna we could venture off on the or we could bring some candela obscura.
- 12:22Ross: Yeah, we just didn't.
- 12:23Ross: Yeah, let's say let's do it.
- 12:24Ross: Let's bring some candela obscura into this.
- 12:26Ross: Uh let's come up with a a pub name and a little story around Clyde's caramel cream ale.
- 12:33Damen: And uh shout out to Matt.
- 12:35Damen: This uh pub has to be in London.
- 12:38Ross: Lawn.
- 12:39Ross: I'm pretty sure in my notes for the next session, like the first opening sentence is now the group has left Lawn L-O-N-D-O-N.
- 12:50Damen: Yes, L-A-W-N.
- 12:52Damen: D-A-W-N.
- 12:55Ross: We're in this place called London.
- 12:58Damen: We're going to the Lawn Don Festival.
- 13:02Ross: Okay, pub name.
- 13:03Ross: What do we think here, gentlemen?
- 13:07Damen: Uh this is at um Mitsi's place.
- 13:11Damen: Mitzi's place.
- 13:12Damen: Okay.
- 13:13Damen: More importantly, there's a murder.
- 13:16Ross: There's a murder at Mitsi's place.
- 13:18Ross: Yes! Name of the pub, murder at Mitzy's.
- 13:20Damen: Oh yeah.
- 13:21Damen: And it's in it's got angly bits in the font.
- 13:24Ross: It's it's uh it's uh like one of those murder theater places.
- 13:27Ross: Ooh, but there's a real murder.
- 13:29Ross: But yeah, somebody actually got murdered, like when the dude got stabbed.
- 13:32Ross: Actually got stabbed.
- 13:34Ross: And there's an investigator.
- 13:36Brett: Name Clyde?
- 13:37Brett: But the investigator is actually a cat.
- 13:40Brett: That wears a top hat and a monocle.
- 13:47Damen: He's the theater department's cat.
- 13:51Damen: Yes, keeps the mice out of the back.
- 13:53Ross: Yes.
- 13:53Ross: Yeah.
- 13:54Damen: And he's able to he's able to use all of his senses to investigate, you know, heightened sense of smell and other, you know, things.
- 14:04Damen: It seems like cats notice things that like don't really seem to be there.
- 14:08Damen: They have like a sixth sense anyway.
- 14:09Brett: That's their bleed detector.
- 14:11Brett: Ooh.
- 14:12Brett: Yeah.
- 14:13Brett: It's their nose, like then the sniff-siff sniff.
- 14:17Brett: That's their bleed detector in candelabs.
- 14:20Ross: Or their what phenomenon.
- 14:22Ross: Never mind, I'm not gonna go there.
- 14:24Ross: That's that's for another time.
- 14:26Ross: Uh I really don't want to talk about Bat's penis.
- 14:31Ross: So you have to look at it.
- 14:34Ross: That's that's an acronym for something.
- 14:37Ross: It's fine.
- 14:38Ross: It's fine.
- 14:39Ross: Don't worry about it.
- 14:40Ross: Okay, so murder at Mysties.
- 14:43Ross: Misty the proprietor.
- 14:45Ross: Did we come up with that?
- 14:46Ross: I don't know.
- 14:47Ross: Should she be behind the bar?
- 14:48Ross: Oh yeah, she's behind the bar.
- 14:49Damen: She's gotta be the proprietor.
- 14:50Ross: She likes to wear one of those like long flowing red dresses.
- 14:53Ross: Big hat.
- 14:54Ross: Yep.
- 14:54Ross: Very flamboyant type lady.
- 14:58Damen: Out outgoing.
- 14:59Damen: Do you mean flowing or do you mean roughly?
- 15:01Ross: Definitely roughly.
- 15:02Ross: Okay, flowing.
- 15:03Ross: Flowing is B.
- 15:04Ross: Yeah, no, no, no.
- 15:06Brett: A lot of layers to that thing.
- 15:08Brett: Correct, yes.
- 15:10Brett: No, yeah.
- 15:10Brett: So she's behind the bar and there was a murder upstairs.
- 15:13Brett: I thought the murder was on the stage.
- 15:15Brett: Oh, yeah, actor's got it.
- 15:17Ross: Yes, that's right.
- 15:18Damen: It's like a reverse theater.
- 15:20Damen: The stage is up here and the crowd's all down here.
- 15:22Damen: It's really hard to see.
- 15:24Ross: That's and the cat saw the whole thing because it was up in the rafters the whole time.
- 15:28Ross: There's some guy in the back.
- 15:30Ross: Get down here, you damn cat.
- 15:33Damen: All the seats are half off because they're obscured view.
- 15:38Damen: Maybe the stage is the ceiling and they hang from like acrobats?
- 15:43Ross: Yes.
- 15:44Damen: Ooh.
- 15:44Damen: Wow.
- 15:46Damen: And the murder was that someone like cut a string.
- 15:50Damen: That's why, that's why the cat was up there to play with the string.
- 15:53Damen: Who was the cat going for?
- 15:54Damen: The investigator is the murderer.
- 15:58Brett: And when Clyde, how convenient.
- 16:01Brett: And when Clyde, the investigator, went up to the bar, Clyde asked for a beer.
- 16:06Brett: And this is what he got.
- 16:08Brett: And this is the beer that he got.
- 16:09Brett: I love it.
- 16:10Damen: And cats like cream?
- 16:12Brett: Sure.
- 16:13Damen: I love it.
- 16:13Damen: I think that fits really well.
- 16:14Damen: Wow.
- 16:15Damen: Done.
- 16:16Damen: A plus.
- 16:17Brett: You know, right out of the game.
- 16:18Damen: I don't know.
- 16:19Ross: I mean, it's kind of like C plus.
- 16:21Brett: It's kind of like a red beer or an orange beer where you had like the tomato juice or the orange juice.
- 16:26Brett: Cream ale for kits.
- 16:28Brett: Kiddies.
- 16:29Brett: Kitties for kids.
- 16:30Brett: Kitties.
- 16:31Brett: Cream ale's for kids I was like, I'm going kittens, and then I'm going kitties.
- 16:35Ross: Kits.
- 16:35Ross: Linda in the middle.
- 16:36Ross: It's the South London accent.
- 16:39Ross: Cream ale for the kids.
- 16:43Ross: Oh, God.
- 16:46Ross: Okay.
- 16:47Ross: I love it.
- 16:48Ross: I think that was a solid C Boss effort for to open the seasons.
- 16:51Ross: Great job, guys.
- 16:52Ross: Okay, let's come back to the beer.
- 16:54Ross: Uh let's there's a beer?
- 16:56Ross: Yeah, you know.
- 16:57Ross: Funny thing, isn't it?
- 16:59Ross: It's available in London.
- 17:00Ross: Let's uh let's rate this on a uh our challenge rating scale, one to 20, uh, one being cream males, domestics, and the like, whereas uh a 20 is gonna be like double, triple IPAs, uh Imperial Stouts, and things toward that end.
- 17:16Ross: Um, I really don't know where to start because I do think Damon's Riot, this is 50-50.
- 17:21Ross: Um bread.
- 17:23Damen: I think it I would just say like I think it's 50-50 in terms of whether or not we like it.
- 17:30unknown: Sure.
- 17:30Ross: Or enjoy it.
- 17:31Damen: Like that I don't think that that's necessarily the same.
- 17:33Damen: I don't think that that necessarily correlates to a challenge rating.
- 17:38Ross: Fair.
- 17:39Ross: Okay.
- 17:39Ross: Let's start with you, Damon.
- 17:42Damen: Uh I'd like a three, maybe.
- 17:43Damen: I don't Okay.
- 17:44Damen: Yeah.
- 17:45Damen: I don't think it's hard to drink.
- 17:46Damen: No.
- 17:47Damen: By really any stretch of the imagination.
- 17:50Damen: I think it's kind of weird to drink.
- 17:53Damen: Fair.
- 17:54Damen: But I don't think it's hard to drink.
- 17:57Damen: Okay, I feel like I found the acronym.
- 17:59Damen: It's the Phenomenon Emitter Notification Instrument System.
- 18:04Damen: And I would say I agree.
- 18:07Damen: I like a three.
- 18:09Brett: Yeah.
- 18:09Brett: That's the characters.
- 18:11Brett: Yes.
- 18:13Brett: For the record.
- 18:14Brett: Brad?
- 18:17Brett: I'm gonna go a one.
- 18:19Brett: Really?
- 18:20Brett: Okay.
- 18:21Brett: Uh Damon, you make a cream ale, but I think this is easier to drink than even yours.
- 18:26Brett: Yeah, probably.
- 18:27Brett: Because it's not a big beer.
- 18:30Brett: Really.
- 18:30Brett: Like, I mean, it is a beer.
- 18:32Brett: It's not you could forget it's a beer.
- 18:36Damen: Yeah, it tastes like it tastes like sassy like cream ale.
- 18:39Damen: It's a soda, yeah.
- 18:43Brett: I think this is a very easy approachable beer.
- 18:46Ross: Okay.
- 18:46Ross: Uh, I'm gonna go with a five, actually.
- 18:49Ross: What?
- 18:50Ross: Because it's not that it's hard to drink, and for me personally, this is uh less than a one, but a five because of those exact reasons that you just said.
- 19:00Ross: It's like somebody somebody who wants a beer is not gonna like this.
- 19:04Ross: No, no, no, it's hard for some people to like a beer.
- 19:07Ross: If it's not beery enough, like is that what they wanted in the first place?
- 19:14Ross: So if you like Core's lice, you're not gonna like this.
- 19:19Damen: That's actually probably true.
- 19:20Ross: And you're probably not even gonna pick it up off the shelf.
- 19:22Ross: So that ticks it up two notches in my book.
- 19:24Ross: I think the three is appropriate, but those two things alone uh kick it up a notch.
- 19:29Damen: Yeah, but I would still say that like is different than difficulty.
- 19:34Ross: Sure, but we've had the like we've had that conversation.
- 19:38Ross: We need to define this a little better.
- 19:40Damen: This is the this is this is like the uh No, this many seasons in it's too late for definition.
- 19:44Damen: We're just winging it.
- 19:46Ross: So wing and a prayer.
- 19:48Ross: This is like the Council of Nicaea in Christianity.
- 19:51Ross: You know, we have to take a moment and like reconvene Noah very, very loosely.
- 19:55Ross: And by loose, I mean like non-existent.
- 19:59Damen: This is like our library advisory board meeting earlier.
- 20:02Ross: This is like using a blowtorch to take a nut off of a bolt.
- 20:07Ross: Kind of loose.
- 20:13Brett: I was really worried where you were going.
- 20:15Brett: I don't really know where it went.
- 20:18Brett: I'm lost now.
- 20:20Brett: I don't even know what's going on.
- 20:21Brett: I believe we were discussing the difference between like and so would we would we buy this one again?
- 20:30Brett: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:31Brett: Great question.
- 20:32Brett: Yay or nay.
- 20:34Damen: Uh for the record, yay or nay is would you drink it again if it was put in front of you?
- 20:38Damen: Oh, yeah.
- 20:38Damen: We have outline.
- 20:42Ross: That one is defined.
- 20:43Ross: Uh it's a yay for me.
- 20:44Ross: Same, yes.
- 20:45Ross: What?
- 20:46Brett: He would drink it again if someone put it in front of him.
- 20:48Brett: Yeah.
- 20:48Brett: Oh, that's why he wouldn't buy it.
- 20:50Brett: We just defined it.
- 20:51Brett: I know, but earlier we were like, I wouldn't buy this again.
- 20:54Ross: No, I wouldn't buy it again, but I would drink it if somebody put it in front of me.
- 20:57Ross: And there's no other options?
- 20:59Ross: Currently.
- 21:00Damen: There's never any other option.
- 21:01Damen: Oh, okay.
- 21:01Damen: It's always like if they gave you a beer and said here, and that was like all they handed you, would you drink it or say no thank you?
- 21:08Damen: Yeah, I'd drink it.
- 21:10Damen: Begrudgingly.
- 21:12Damen: Yeah.
- 21:13Damen: Slowly.
- 21:14Damen: If I have to.
- 21:15Damen: With food.
- 21:17Damen: Give me some ice cream in if there's pie.
- 21:22Brett: If there's pie, yes.
- 21:23Brett: If not, I'm probably passing it to the left.
- 21:27Damen: That's a fun game.
- 21:29Brett: Pass to the left.
- 21:31Damen: We should we should have a green crack where we try four different beers.
- 21:35Damen: Blind.
- 21:36Damen: And we like pass it around and end up reading all four.
- 21:39Damen: Yeah.
- 21:40Ross: That's not you thought this is the end of this episode was confusing.
- 21:43Ross: Holy crap.
- 21:44Ross: Oh, buckle up.
- 21:45Ross: Buckle up.
- 21:46Ross: Absolutely.
- 21:47Ross: Okay.
- 21:47Ross: All right, let's get out of here.
- 21:49Ross: Uh, that's gonna do it for this episode.
