  Well, I mean, Iowa State really settled in once I got the

  running game going. Played very well.

  So I I thought Carson Hansen got that going.

  I thought it was an ugly game. My editor texted me about how

  great the game was. I was like, I don't know if this

  is a great game. This is a entertaining game.

  You know, of those Week 0 games, that's the most fun one might
• 1:28
  have been Hawaiian Stanford, if that makes sense.

  You know what a finish those two had?

  That's for sure. Tremendous story, yes, the the

  young man from Japan coming over learning English and learning
• 1:41
  how to kick and and kids a game winner as we put a cap on week

  zero. Well, let's look ahead to week

  one in here on our local front, not a whole lot of intrigue, but

  on the regional front there certainly is starting to
• 1:52
  tonight, Minnesota in action. We got Nebraska in action, we
• 1:55
  got Wisconsin in action. So let's start with those Big 10
• 1:58
  teams here this evening. Just give us an overview of the
• 2:01
  Hawkeye Rivals, Gophers, Badgers, Cord, Huskers, Kanye,
• 2:04
  where you are with each of those three teams.

  Well, I mean, the Huskers will get the most attention tonight
• 2:10
  with that game being at Arrowhead and the whole Mahomes,
• 2:15
  Iowa look like each other thing. That's a little creepy, quite
• 2:20
  honestly, in some ways that we're doing this.
• 2:23
  It's strange. Wisconsin got a brutal schedule,
• 2:26
  as you know, and, you know, we'll see where it goes from.
• 2:28
  There's not too many breaks for them this year.
• 2:31
  And then Minnesota, you know, kind of chronically in that
• 2:35
  second tier. We'll see if they can make a
• 2:36
  little run this year. I mean, those three teams that
• 2:40
  you mentioned of the three probably most interested in
• 2:43
  Nebraska and where Matt Rule takes this thing because
• 2:47
  obviously, you know, third year, double digit wins, third year at
• 2:50
  Miller, But they went to the Big 12 championship game.

  So I mean, he has a track record of getting it done.

  And I think they would probably pose the greatest threat to the
• 3:00
  Hawkeyes. I could be wrong.

  Well, let's do let's do the same tomorrow night.

  Colorado. What do you expect from them?

  And then Baylor, Sorry, Robinson's a heck of a
• 3:10
  quarterback. What about those two Big 12
• 3:13
  schools and where they potentially may fit in the Big
• 3:17
  12? You know, I, I, I think

  Colorado, obviously huge game tomorrow, huge weekend for the
• 3:25
  ACC, not to change the subject, but I mean, that's the first one
• 3:28
  that Georgia Tech and they're in the prime time spot every night
• 3:32
  from Friday through Monday. And you know, Colorado is a team
• 3:36
  with Cotton Salter. I'm interested to see how the
• 3:38
  offense looks because he runs he should or didn't run like, you
• 3:43
  know, in design runs. And I think Titan Salter is
• 3:46
  going to put up some numbers there.

  Some. I'm interested to see how Dion
• 3:50
  deals with that. I mean, obviously, you know,
• 3:52
  he's had a, you know, what kind of an offseason, you know, with
• 3:57
  the health. And I'm glad he's back on the
• 3:58
  sideline. And I don't know why we wouldn't
• 4:00
  want him on the sideline. Who is the other Big 12 team?

  I'm sorry. We got.

  We got Baylor. We got.

  Baylor. Yes.

  Baylor, yeah, Baylor. Auburn's a huge game, right,

  Ken? Like when you freeze loses that

  one, the tempter is going to get really hot and Baylor closed the
• 4:17
  seat. I think you were the one that

  was on to them early, right? Did like them as a sleeper.

  I'm not going to take credit for something you were calling out
• 4:24
  way, you know, months ago with Baylor and Sawyer Robertson.

  They were tremendous at the back half of the year.
• 4:29
  They put up some yards and now Auburn thinks they got some wide
• 4:32
  receivers over there. We'll see what they can do in
• 4:35
  that one. So before we get into some of
• 4:37
  the monster matchups of the weekend, and there are plenty of
• 4:40
  those, I don't think this one fits.
• 4:42
  And if you would have told us well basically 12 months ago
• 4:45
  that this wouldn't be a very big game, you would've been called
• 4:48
  crazy. Alabama, Florida State, that 2
• 4:50
  and 10 season last year. It's one of the more confounding
• 4:53
  things, coming off an undefeated regular season, to go 2 and 10
• 4:57
  at a program like Florida State. Where are the Seminoles?
• 5:00
  And even at home? And yes, we know that Doka is
• 5:02
  going to be fired up for that one.
• 5:04
  Can they hang with Bama? Well, I mean, double digit
• 5:08
  spread, a 14 point spread for a game like that is just mind
• 5:13
  boggling for me. You know, personally, I think,
• 5:16
  you know, Tim Keenan's a big injury for Alabama, the interior
• 5:19
  defensive lineman. And to me, you know, so I took
• 5:22
  Florida State to cover and kind of my justification was what
• 5:26
  kind of fight do you have as a program?
• 5:28
  Because Trent, if we watch Alabama go down to that
• 5:32
  renovated Duke Campbell Stadium, beat them like 35, nothing.
• 5:37
  We know what we're going to talk about.
• 5:39
  Sunday, Monday, Tuesday is Mike Nordell's job.
• 5:42
  And they were desperate at ACC kickoff and use that word a lot,
• 5:45
  desperate to talk about anything but that two intense season.
• 5:50
  So it was one of the most confounding swings ever.

  Don't you think? Some of that's due to the
• 5:57
  transfer portal that can happen. Without a doubt, absolutely,

  especially the numbers. My guess, and I don't know this
• 6:03
  is you're going to be at the shoe and why wouldn't you be for

  for Ohio State and Texas Arch Manning, Julian saying Trent and
• 6:11
  I started at some point early in the program today.

  Just are we just sure about Arch Manning?

  Meaning he tore up Mississippi State, but a lot of quarterbacks
• 6:19
  did. We haven't seen him a ton.

  He's obviously athletic, he's got the right pedigree.

  He's I mean he's got his uncles had to have helped him
• 6:27
  tremendously and his dad. His dad was a hell of a player
• 6:30
  in his own right before he got injured and had to end his
• 6:32
  career. Not a quarterback, but none the
• 6:34
  less are we sure about Arch Manning in the how about the
• 6:37
  match up bill? I'm.
• 6:40
  Sure about him. Long term, I'm just going to bet
• 6:43
  off Manning long term, you know. But you know, future's bad.
• 6:47
  I'm good with it there. I think Saturday, I'm not going
• 6:50
  to bet March Manning's entire career based on Saturday because
• 6:54
  you're going to, you guys know this, you're going into Ohio
• 6:56
  Stadium with 100,000 people and four new offensive lineman.

  And you know the I was thinking this through today.
• 7:04
  You know, of all the games I've been to Ohio State, the one
• 7:06
  quarterback I watched go in there and light them up like
• 7:09
  never before, it was Baker Mayfield.
• 7:12
  And you know, Baker went on to be a number one pick and doing
• 7:16
  the things he's doing with Tampa Bay now.
• 7:18
  And if Arch hasn't like that, and I was there that night when
• 7:22
  Baker went wild, then we can start talking like that.
• 7:25
  But I think it's a tough game. And then Julian saying, I mean,
• 7:28
  I made this case today in that column I wrote that Arch's long
• 7:33
  term pressure and expectations are greater.
• 7:35
  But Julian sayings expectations in the short term are greater,
• 7:41
  right? The Ohio State's quarterback
• 7:42
  comes with a lot. It's a tough spot.
• 7:46
  And you know, we heard about kind Holtz and and him pushing.
• 7:50
  It's a long leash. What kind of leash are we
• 7:52
  talking about? What, what if it goes poorly?
• 7:54
  I mean, how quickly is Ryan Day and company willing to pull the
• 7:57
  plug and go to the backup if it if it gets to that they're down,
• 8:00
  you know, 14-3 in the middle of the third quarter.

  Could you see that happening Saturday?

  You know, I didn't compute that till somebody brought it up to
• 8:07
  me this morning that hey, you know what if he throws 4
• 8:10
  interceptions, are they going to go to Lincoln?

  I was thinking, you know, at that point they'd probably just
• 8:15
  go to TV and Saint Clair and see what they have there, you know,
• 8:19
  this talented 5 star freshman. But I get what you're saying.

  I in all fairness, yes, they would.

  I would give Lincoln a look at that point.

  And that's the other pressure point is we've known Arch was
• 8:29
  going to be the starter of the second when yours went to the
• 8:31
  NFL. We didn't know that Julian
• 8:35
  Saying was the starter till about two weeks ago.
• 8:37
  And I think that's a key distinction with these two
• 8:40
  quarterbacks. And you know, obviously Saying
• 8:43
  has some really good receivers he gets to throw to.
• 8:46
  I think Brandon Innis is going to be a breakout for the
• 8:48
  Buckeyes here in the slot. Another five star guy and I
• 8:52
  think he's going to put up big numbers.
• 8:54
  I'm looking at him now #1 Brandon Innis, that's a clip and
• 8:57
  save. Well done.

  So tomorrow night or Saturday night, rather, we'll be watching

  LSU and Clemson. Bill, I know the answer is they

  can, but can LSU really lose another week one game and

  they're up against, I mean, Clemson's good, but LSU's record

  week number one. My God, doesn't Kelly have to

  win one of these one of these years?

  Yeah, you know, and all of them have been epic in ways, you
• 9:21
  know, the two Florida State games, the they kind of gave
• 9:26
  rise to that Florida State near playoff run.

  And then, of course, last year with UFC in a game that I

  wouldn't have guessed in a million years that LSU would
• 9:34
  have lost that game last year. So it is a tough out.

  I mean, they could absolutely can lose.

  And, you know, I, I think this is going to have some weirdness
• 9:44
  to it. I just feel it because Garrett
• 9:46
  and Kate are both really good quarterbacks.

  Both teams have a lot of defensive talent.
• 9:52
  You know, the the Clemson, the pressure is the same.
• 9:54
  You know, go beat an SEC school. But I do think of all the
• 9:59
  elements in that game, you brought it up, BK is the one
• 10:02
  we're going to fixate on the most.
• 10:05
  We want to go to Sunday and before we get to the big one,
• 10:08
  there's an intriguing 1 beforehand.

  Not just seeing South Carolina and taking the momentum that
• 10:13
  they had from last season with sellers and company and take
• 10:15
  another step forward this year, but it's also Beamer taking on
• 10:19
  his dad's former team in Virginia Tech and all the
• 10:21
  obviously the connections there. Virginia Tech kind of one of
• 10:24
  those teams that hard to get a handle on what they are in the
• 10:28
  new ACC in South Carolina, one of those buzz teams of the
• 10:31
  offseason. Is this a Gamecock blowout?
• 10:35
  Think so. I kept it close and I mentioned
• 10:37
  that earlier. The ACC is in so many spotlight
• 10:40
  games this weekend and you almost lose the two Affleck
• 10:43
  Kickoff games with Syracuse playing Tennessee and Virginia
• 10:47
  Tech playing South Carolina and and obviously the Beamer
• 10:51
  connection there. What an emotional moment that's
• 10:53
  going to be. I I was told by Gary Stoke in
• 10:55
  the Peach Bowl CEO that, yeah, they're going to honor Frank
• 10:58
  Beamer at the game. So that's pretty cool that he
• 11:01
  gets to watch his son on the other sideline.
• 11:03
  But I mean, looking for Karen drones in this Virginia Tech
• 11:06
  program. You know, one that in that
• 11:08
  course, a story I wrote outstanding, by the way.

  Yeah, you know, it was fun to write.

  And I just, you know, got to talk to Frank Beamer about that
• 11:16
  and that rise. But my point is kind of they

  haven't had that, like, signature win in a while.

  It's been like 7-8 years since Virginia Tech's been on the map.

  Which game Day and Lee Corso helped put them on there?

  No doubt in that 1999 season. Notre Dame, Miami on Sunday

  night, get home from the BBQ, whatever you got going on, and

  you flip that one on the you. We'll see.

  They bring in Carson Beck, feels like he's a better fit there

  than maybe a Georgia with the glitz and glamour that he has.

  And he can have some other guys with some Lamborghinis maybe

  down there. Notre Dame with CJ Carr making

  his first career start, we get to see him physical team.

  I mean, so many storylines for this one.

  And of course, for us, guys in our 40s are a little bit older,

  like Ken, The storylines going back in the day, what this

  rivalry game was. Yeah, you know, obviously the
• 12:03
  Catholics first convict thing will be brought up.

  And no, I just know as we know that, you know, six straight
• 12:09
  trips down to Miami, Notre Dame's lost.

  You know, this, this is a streak that dates been and some
• 12:14
  humiliating losses. The one in 2017 that the one
• 12:18
  with Jerry Faust where Jimmie Johnson ran the score up and
• 12:21
  yeah, he definitely ran the score up.

  It's an interesting spot for the Irish with their new
• 12:29
  quarterback, but I think they're the better team.
• 12:32
  I just think they have enough pieces back from that run last
• 12:36
  year. Miami's, you know, got some guys
• 12:38
  in the trenches and it's a prove it year for Carson back now, a
• 12:41
  reprove it year of sorts. But I like the Irish to go down
• 12:45
  there and win and break that streak.

  And I think they take a cue. Could be very similar to that

  A&M game last year that Marcus Freeman led him to a victory in
• 12:53
  and we'll see where they go from there.

  They get a week off and then they got A&M up at Notre Dame.

  college football in my opinion, from a regional thing.

  Like I say this all the time, growing up in Ohio, like I was

  SDT or the ACC. It was your backyard only.

  And they brought it into much more living rooms.

  And I think that's one like seeing Lee just being the

  energetic kind of guy that he is.

  It is so important. It's it's funny you said that

  It is all about those folks that are out there, you know, putting
