Transcript
- 0:00Coming up... This is a horrible game. Why did
- 0:04you guys play this? And then... This is our third
- 0:07time we've ever met each other. We're not done
- 0:09yet! We're not done! Oh my god. So, not to sound
- 0:13like that guy in Saw, but... Do you want to play
- 0:17a game? Um... When you say it in that tone of
- 0:23voice... No. No thank you, I'm good. I've actually
- 0:27never seen Saw because I don't like slasher movies.
- 0:32That's not an answer to my question. Well, I'm
- 0:37going to say yes, I do want to play a game. That's
- 0:40fitting. That's exactly what I expected the outcome
- 0:42to be. Because, you guessed it, we're not talking
- 0:47about any old game today. We are talking about
- 0:51ritual games. You know. Like Bloody Mary. The
- 0:57fun party games that typically kids, you know,
- 1:01play together. The more like dares or challenges,
- 1:05you know, there's a list of steps and required
- 1:07items and you have to do these things in order,
- 1:11follow the rules, or else you'll die. They're
- 1:16harmless games, right? Maybe. Supposedly. Or
- 1:20are they something more... Dangerous. Dun dun
- 1:26dun. Dun dun dun. Ignore that. My voice cracked
- 1:35while trying to do that. I'm going to replay
- 1:39it in 3, 2, 1. Dun dun dun. Welcome to our podcast
- 1:44where we take deep dives looking at various topics
- 1:46through a paranormal lens. So this episode was
- 1:51inspired. like we said in the previous episode,
- 1:54by this amazing film we saw at the Midwest Weird
- 1:58Fest called The Midnight Driver. Go back to our
- 2:00previous episode because eventually in the episode,
- 2:03we do talk about it after 40 minutes of utter
- 2:07nonsense. So give that a listen if you want more
- 2:11about the film. But the film itself was inspired
- 2:13by the very real, allegedly, hooded man ritual.
- 2:18The ritual is called the hooded man. ritual and
- 2:22you know what i gotta do we gotta do it i gotta
- 2:26put my no i'm putting on a hood just for the
- 2:29couple people that watch on youtube they get
- 2:32a real this is this is your incentive to to watch
- 2:36this one on youtube because i have a hood oh
- 2:38my god it's the hooded man but i figured we can
- 2:45not do the ritual but we can go through what
- 2:51this ritual is and kind of use this to like talk
- 2:54about the other types of rituals that are kind
- 2:57of in this camp because i feel like this is a
- 2:59really uh good representation of these type of
- 3:02things but back to the hood and man ritual it
- 3:05says danger level is a two i don't know what
- 3:08what that scale is and and what a two danger
- 3:14means where are you getting that from the paranormal
- 3:20rituals, wiki. You can find all these online.
- 3:25What are the other ratings at? Is it a one through
- 3:29five situation? I don't know. What would Bloody
- 3:32Mary be ranked at? Just for reference. Let's
- 3:37see. Light as a feather, stiff as a board I think
- 3:41is one too. I want to do that one as well. Isn't
- 3:47there one that's like Called the Three Kings
- 3:49or something. Yep, yep. Something like that.
- 3:52Okay, so according to this site, the Bloody Mary
- 3:54ritual, danger level zero. Oh. So just for reference.
- 4:02Okay. Zero danger. So the hooded man is twice.
- 4:07No, zero times two is still zero. Still zero.
- 4:11You know what I mean. It's two levels up. It's
- 4:13two levels up. I get you. And, of course, if
- 4:18you are unaware of what Bloody Mary is, you just
- 4:21stare in a mirror. And you spin chanting Bloody
- 4:24Mary three times. Three times. And then, evidently,
- 4:28Bloody Mary should. With the lights off. Oh,
- 4:30yeah. And then she should appear in the mirror.
- 4:32Yeah, standing behind you. You say it 13 times.
- 4:3613 times? I thought it was just three. I thought
- 4:39it was three, too. According to this, it's 13.
- 4:41Yeah, well, that person's wrong. Maybe that's
- 4:42why everyone does it wrong. Maybe. But also.
- 4:46remember we were talking about um this is a tangent
- 4:49um in typical fashion we're about to talk about
- 4:53the hood of man ritual and we're talking about
- 4:55five million other things first but one of my
- 4:57favorite kind of uh revelations we had on the
- 5:00podcast was i forget what episode it even was
- 5:03we're talking about bloody mary a little bit
- 5:05when it comes to like legends and that kind of
- 5:09stuff i'm thinking about like bloody mary that
- 5:12he said in the mirror yeah the amount of times
- 5:15you know Kids say Bloody Mary. I'm sure you...
- 5:18Brianna, you didn't have a pet rock or imaginary
- 5:20friend, but did you ever do Bloody Mary in the
- 5:22mirror as a kid? No. Most other kids... Angela,
- 5:26did... I almost called you Annabelle. Angela,
- 5:28did you? No. Honestly, I was kind of too scared
- 5:32to ever do it. Yeah, same. I'm like, what happened
- 5:36if it's real? Okay, but that's my point. So,
- 5:40kids, other... You guys both knew Bloody Mary,
- 5:46even if you didn't do it. Kids either do Bloody
- 5:50Mary as a kid, or they're too scared to do Bloody
- 5:53Mary as a kid. I was too scared. Yes. Did you
- 5:58play Bloody Mary as a kid? I did once, nothing
- 6:01happened, so that's my story. Why is no one talking
- 6:07about the Bloody Mary egregore? It's going around,
- 6:12like, it's just interesting to me, this whole
- 6:16talk about, and I just thought of this now, so
- 6:19it's not a really fleshed out or full thought.
- 6:21Well, isn't the difference that people know that
- 6:24Bloody Mary is plainly just a game? They don't,
- 6:28you were too scared to do it. You thought Bloody
- 6:31Mary was real. It's so true. Yeah. Well, I'm
- 6:33just, yeah. How is, you know, is this like the
- 6:36new version of Bloody Mary? Like, when we were
- 6:39kids. and everyone knows about Bloody Mary, is
- 6:41Zozo going viral on Twitter, the new version
- 6:44of it. People either use the Ouija board to contact
- 6:47Zozo, or they're too scared to do so. And kids
- 6:51will tell all these great tales of like, you
- 6:54know, Bloody Mary came to me in the mirror, I
- 6:57saw her, and you know, just hazing type of stuff
- 7:00that kids do to each other, you know. Is this
- 7:04like the adult version of it? And is it that
- 7:07we're now adults? I don't know. It's weird. Because
- 7:13then they say, too, that, like, poltergeists,
- 7:15you know, are often created from children or
- 7:19kids, you know, teenagers, you know, specifically
- 7:21during, like, puberty and that time of their
- 7:23life. So, do you need... When you're a kid, does
- 7:31it not fully... Again, I'm not phrasing this
- 7:34good because it's just coming to my head now,
- 7:36but do you need to be a teenager to then... If
- 7:39teenagers create poltergeists, do you need to
- 7:41become a teenager or an adult to then create
- 7:43egregores? Does it not work as a kid? Good question.
- 7:48That's a good question, yeah. I bet if a bunch
- 7:52of adults got together, this might be fun. A
- 7:54bunch of adults? Oh, but imagine what havoc that
- 7:58would cause. If a bunch of adults got together
- 8:00and fully believed in Bloody Mary and did it
- 8:03and created a real Bloody Mary egregore. then
- 8:05you'd have kids legitimately experiencing it
- 8:07every time they did it yeah imagine that yeah
- 8:12but anyways i i have no update on that bloody
- 8:16mary uh you know kind of tangent but just reminded
- 8:19me of it um getting back to the hooded man ritual
- 8:22though um this one again i have no idea what
- 8:26a two really means just that it's more dangerous
- 8:29than bloody mary but um it requires one to three
- 8:33players So theoretically, we could play it right
- 8:36now. But we won't. I want to. Brianna's just
- 8:42like, no. No, thank you. And I guess this ritual,
- 8:46the player calls an entity to drive them to the
- 8:51other world. Dun, dun, dun. Dun, dun, dun. And
- 8:56all you need is a corded telephone, two black
- 9:00cords that are 50 centimeters long, a watch.
- 9:04a table, a chair. And then, something that was
- 9:07not depicted in the film, get naked. I don't
- 9:13believe that one. I'm sorry. I still don't believe
- 9:15that one. There's no need for that. But whatever.
- 9:18Okay. Well, I assume it's going to explain why.
- 9:23And if they don't... Okay, so in order to play
- 9:26this game, first you must prepare a room. You
- 9:29choose a room in your house to play the ritual.
- 9:31and you just make it as dark and silent as possible.
- 9:34These games love darkness and stillness and silence.
- 9:39Sounds like it, yeah. It is recommended you play
- 9:43at night. First, you go to the room you prepared.
- 9:47You sit down before the telephone and count to
- 9:5013. They also love 13, I guess. With a phone
- 9:54on the cradle, dial the number 20496888. Ty,
- 10:01one of the black cords to the telephone's handset.
- 10:05Handset? I almost said headset. Goes to show
- 10:08how little we know about telephones. Oh yeah,
- 10:10that's a big, okay. We're totally down with the
- 10:14old gear and technology. We know. Did you guys
- 10:18not have corded phones growing up? I did. I did
- 10:21too. I had one until I was like teenager. Yeah.
- 10:27Yeah, then your parents were just new age. New
- 10:31age? All you hippie new age parents with your
- 10:35cellular devices. Well, anyways, goes to show
- 10:39who needs to do research around here. But apparently,
- 10:43you have to dial that number. And then you tie
- 10:47one of your additional cords that you brought
- 10:50to the ritual to the handset. Okay, and then
- 10:55use your cord to lift the handset. And then dial
- 10:58the number 255 -15823. You count to 13. Put that
- 11:06handset down, but do not put it on the cradle.
- 11:11Approach your face to the handset. This is all
- 11:15phrased very weirdly. Approach your face to the
- 11:18handset. And you say, hi, I need a cab. Untie
- 11:23the first cord and replace it with the second
- 11:25one. Go outside. If you see a black cab parked
- 11:30near your house with the lights on, open the
- 11:32door and get inside the cab without verifying
- 11:35it's your driver. That sounds like a good way
- 11:39to get kidnapped. Yeah, yeah. No wonder this
- 11:42is a danger level 2. My god, you're getting in
- 11:45a random person's car. Sounds like it should
- 11:47be more of a 4 .5. Though, if I were to do this
- 11:52game and I were to go outside and see a cab,
- 11:57I would be very concerned. Oh, I'd be terrified.
- 12:00I'd be so fucking terrified. There are no cabs
- 12:03here. Yeah, talk about someone who hasn't seen
- 12:08a handset corded phone in many years. I haven't
- 12:14seen a cab, I don't think ever. I've literally
- 12:16never seen a cab. Who are we kidding? This is
- 12:20so old school. There's cabs. Not in Michigan.
- 12:24Maybe not where you are, Brianna, but, like,
- 12:26we're links, Ben. There's cabs here. I've seen
- 12:28them around. Are there? I lived in East Lansing
- 12:30for six years and I never saw a cab. No. You
- 12:35haven't? No. Oh, well, I've seen them. I'm not,
- 12:40like, a hitchhiker. I just read the next sentence
- 12:44of the ritual. It says, it says, if you see a
- 12:49black cab, park... near your house with the lights
- 12:52on, open the door and get inside. Is this when
- 12:56you get naked? No. It says, if the door is locked,
- 12:59do not get in. It is probably a regular car.
- 13:05Trying to break in to a regular car will get
- 13:08you in trouble. With the weird writing of this,
- 13:16approach your head to the headset. And all the
- 13:20weird little sentences. I'm having trouble taking
- 13:25this seriously at this point. But anyways, after
- 13:28you enter the real ghost car. The unlocked car.
- 13:33The unlocked car that definitely has a ghost
- 13:36driving it. You are supposed to lock the doors
- 13:40and make sure to be in a comfortable position.
- 13:43You will fall asleep in approximately 70 seconds.
- 13:48I don't like that. I don't like that. No thanks.
- 13:53If you check below the driver's seat, you will
- 13:55find an iron hook and a dirty spoon. After you
- 14:00wake up, if you're playing with friends, everyone
- 14:03will wake up. At the same time, I guess. Look
- 14:07at your watch. If your watch doesn't read 3 .30
- 14:10a .m., get out of the vehicle, go inside the
- 14:13room you used to call a cab, and destroy the
- 14:16two cords with fire. If your watch does read
- 14:193 .30, you will fall asleep again in 70 seconds.
- 14:22You will wake up again, but this time the car
- 14:24will be moving, and you will see a hooded man
- 14:26on the driver's seat, driving the cab in a dark
- 14:29place. If you want to go back, say to the driver,
- 14:32I have reached my destination, and he will...
- 14:34Apparently obliged. After you say that, I've
- 14:38reached my destination, you will wake up where
- 14:40you initially called the driver from, and then
- 14:43you're supposed to dial the number 200082 in
- 14:46the telephone and say thank you for the ride,
- 14:48and destroy the cord with fire. The hooded man
- 14:53is an interdimensional agent who wears black
- 14:57vests with hoods, and some people believe that
- 15:00looking at his face leads to death. But, they
- 15:05want to tell you, there's no evidence that it
- 15:08is actually caused a death. That we know of.
- 15:14Don't even know of. Anyone who's looked in his
- 15:16face has died and never was here to tell the
- 15:20story. I guess so. But that's a hooded man ritual.
- 15:26Interesting. It's actually kind of creepy. Kind
- 15:29of. It seems so complicated though. That's how
- 15:34all these are. You need to do this and dial this
- 15:37exact number and then 70 seconds later the seconds
- 15:40matter, the times matter. Each number you dial
- 15:43is different than the last one so you have to
- 15:45have it all written down. If we do this and an
- 15:50actual black car shows up we cannot get in it.
- 15:54But I'd be very scared. fascinated still terrified
- 16:00but curious we should like knock on the door
- 16:06and peer in but not get in the car no you need
- 16:09to play by the rules nothing will happen unless
- 16:12you do each step exactly how it says okay no
- 16:15i'm saying okay well what happened if the cars
- 16:18come car comes up obviously we're not going to
- 16:21get in the car so what would happen once we don't
- 16:23listen the steps from there i don't want to i
- 16:26don't want to assume that you, Angela Wingard,
- 16:30is going to say, we did 10 % of the ritual. Let's
- 16:33just stop there. Yeah, that's what we're going
- 16:37to do. Are you really going to just get in the
- 16:39car because you're afraid of not finishing a
- 16:41fucking ritual? Well, but no, my point being
- 16:44is, and also, also, all you're doing at that
- 16:50point is just summoning a cab to your house.
- 16:52And that's cool enough. You can just call a cab.
- 16:58Yeah. You can do that directly from your phone.
- 17:01You can do it from a mobile phone. Move a Java.
- 17:05You don't need cords. You don't need a handset.
- 17:08You don't need to be 1997. Do you think there's
- 17:12a modern version of this where we can just do
- 17:14it on our cell phone? It's called Uber. No, I'm
- 17:18talking... No. Okay, what would happen if we
- 17:23dialed a number that... Of the numbers they gave
- 17:25us. Probably someone's actual phone number and
- 17:30they're getting like these random phone calls
- 17:35all the time. They're like, why the hell am I
- 17:37getting these phone calls? Imagine how weird
- 17:43that would be. You just get these random phone
- 17:45calls and then you answer and be like, you just
- 17:48hear, I need a ride. And it just hangs up or
- 17:51whatever you have to say. Okay, so I'm going
- 17:53to call the number that's the one you're supposed
- 17:55to say, I need a cab. No. No, do it, actually.
- 18:00Please, actually do it. Welcome to Verizon Wireless.
- 18:05Welcome to Verizon. So it's not an actual phone
- 18:10number. That's disappointing. Is there enough
- 18:12numbers for there to be an area code? Let's see.
- 18:15That's true. Is there an area code? Ooh, they're
- 18:18one number short. That might be why. These aren't
- 18:20real numbers, you guys. Okay, that explains it.
- 18:24So this whole ritual was bullshit. But if you
- 18:30do the ritual and someone actually picks up,
- 18:32then you know it's real. It's a ghost. I'm good.
- 18:38I am Gucci. Should this whole episode just be
- 18:43us calling a number until some ghost picks up?
- 18:47Well, I'm just disappointed. I wish it was a
- 18:49real number. It can't be a phone number if it's
- 18:53one number short. You know how there's that thing
- 18:54where you're supposed to put one before your
- 18:58phone number? Oh, that's true. Then do that one.
- 19:00Do that. Put the one in front of it. No, don't
- 19:04actually, because then you're actually going
- 19:06to dial somebody, and it's going to be awkward.
- 19:10The number you have dialed is not in service.
- 19:14Please check the number and try again. 2 -0 -4.
- 19:19Well, that's a new one. That is new. That number's
- 19:22been discontinued. Disconnected. Maybe too many
- 19:26prank calls. Maybe. Honestly, you never know.
- 19:29Yeah, because, you know, there's a bunch of the
- 19:31numbers at different stages of the ritual, and
- 19:33that's that later stage number. The one where
- 19:36you're supposed to call and thank them for the
- 19:38ride? Mm -hmm. Yeah. Yeah, someone's got prank
- 19:44called too many times. That was fun. That's,
- 19:49I guess, half attempting the ritual. Now, there
- 19:52is a ritual similar to the Hooded Man ritual
- 19:56that Angela and I actually did try on our second
- 19:58date. Really? Yes. What is it called? In this
- 20:03book called Dangerous Games to Play in the Dark.
- 20:08And it's by Lucia Peters. Highly recommend this
- 20:12book for a fun read. That means I got this book
- 20:15on our second date. I mean, within the third
- 20:18date, we're doing a ritual in your bathroom.
- 20:21I highly recommend as a test of if you're compatible
- 20:25with a person to do a ritual with them where
- 20:30you drown a baby in a toilet. That's what we
- 20:32did. What? It's called Blue Baby Baby Blue. It's
- 20:37pretty fun, actually. Nothing happened, but it
- 20:39was fun. Well, let's talk about this ritual.
- 20:42Yes, please. I need to actually hear about it.
- 20:46Page 50 of Dangerous Games to Play in the Dark.
- 20:49Get this book, everyone, and read along with
- 20:53us. The objective is to summon an angry ghost
- 20:57baby. No additional warnings, but the reward,
- 21:02if you complete it, is bragging rights. And content
- 21:07for a podcast. Similar to Bloody Mary, the point
- 21:13of Blue Baby is simple. It's a challenge to prove
- 21:16your bravery. However, while Blue Baby's origins
- 21:20are a little more difficult to trace than Bloody
- 21:22Mary's, they may have come from the same fears
- 21:25that Bloody Mary taps into. In the latter, the
- 21:28ghost is sometimes a mother who has lost her
- 21:30child. I didn't know about that lore about Bloody
- 21:32Mary. While in the former, it's a child who has
- 21:37lost its mother. Oh, okay. So, how to play. First,
- 21:44you find a partner, because it's a two -person
- 21:47game. The game must be played in a bathroom that
- 21:50is equipped with both a mirror and a door that
- 21:52locks. You will not need any other supplies.
- 21:55That's it. You just need a bathroom with a mirror
- 21:58and a lock on the door. No, and a toilet. You
- 22:02have to... and a toilet. That's implied when
- 22:05it says bathroom. You never know. There could
- 22:07be, like... That's a washroom. That's a washroom.
- 22:11Okay, that's fair. Doesn't bathroom apply? Okay,
- 22:15that's fair. How do I know? All my bathrooms
- 22:18are toilets. When night has fallen, you enter
- 22:22the bathroom with your partner. Turn off the
- 22:26lights and lock the door. fog up the mirror in
- 22:30whatever way you wish breathing on it running
- 22:32the shower so it's steam coats the glass etc
- 22:34we we did the shower method because blowing on
- 22:37a mirror in the dark for an hour did not sound
- 22:41fun and then you write in the steam you know
- 22:45condensation on the mirror you write the words
- 22:48blue baby with your finger And then you were
- 22:53supposed to hold your arms as if you were cradling
- 22:55a baby, and I remember Angela had to show me
- 22:57what that was, like how to cradle a baby with
- 23:00my arms. But it says here, too, for other idiots,
- 23:06don't forget to support the baby's head. Babies'
- 23:09necks aren't strong enough to hold their heads
- 23:11up on their own. So it's giving you tips, you
- 23:13know, you're supposed to cradle this imaginary
- 23:15baby. Yeah, okay. If I didn't tell Ben how to
- 23:19hold the baby, and... I don't even hold babies
- 23:22often. It's been a hot second. Okay. Ben probably
- 23:27would just be holding it like a fucking football.
- 23:29I'm going to be honest. I'm like, no, Ben. Put
- 23:35your arms together. I still don't necessarily
- 23:37know the difference between a football and a
- 23:40baby besides one has a head. They're about the
- 23:45same size anyway. Maybe a newborn, but yeah.
- 23:49Yeah. Okay, keep going. I want to hear more.
- 23:54So, as you're cradling this imaginary football,
- 23:58I mean baby, you may begin to feel your arms
- 24:03growing heavy as if a weight has been placed
- 24:06into your care. Don't be alarmed. That's an indication
- 24:09that the game is working. Keep supporting the
- 24:12weight. The baby needs your help. And then you
- 24:16carefully pass. the weight that you begin to
- 24:19feel to your partner. Do not drop the ghost baby.
- 24:24After holding onto the weight for a brief time,
- 24:27your partner should then pass it back to you.
- 24:29So it's like hot potato with the ghost baby.
- 24:32Be careful. Be gentle. The baby is very young,
- 24:37after all. You may continue passing the weight
- 24:41back and forth for as long as you like, but again,
- 24:44you cannot, under any circumstances, drop. The
- 24:48ghost baby. With each drop, you will find yourself
- 24:53on the receiving end of a small but vicious scratch.
- 24:57Keep track of the number of times you drop it.
- 24:59You only have three chances before your luck
- 25:02runs out and you die. So if you drop the baby,
- 25:05you get scratched like a tally to three, then
- 25:07you die. I thought this was a low -risk ritual.
- 25:12I guess not! Maybe because it's not automatic
- 25:17death. You get warnings. That's true. It's not
- 25:22like an instant death. Okay. When you are ready
- 25:28to end the game, have the player holding the
- 25:31weight go to the mirror and carefully erase the
- 25:33words from the surface. Do not drop the weight
- 25:36while performing this action. If done correctly,
- 25:39you will feel the weight slowly lift from your
- 25:40arms. When it's gone, you may unlock the door
- 25:43and exit the bathroom, but if you drop the baby
- 25:45three times before completing the game, run,
- 25:48you have no chances left. The baby's mother is
- 25:51coming for you. If you're supposedly holding
- 25:54the ghost baby with both arms, how are you supposed
- 25:59to remove the words off the mirror? That must
- 26:04be the hardest part. A little baby like this?
- 26:07Yeah, yeah. You have one arm and you just go...
- 26:10I've seen people do that. Or hold the baby and
- 26:17push it to the mirror and have them wipe it off.
- 26:23Yeah. Child abuse. Okay. Because I was wondering,
- 26:29why did we flush it down the toilet? Where did
- 26:31that come from? So I'm reading on and it says,
- 26:33a one -player version of the game may also be
- 26:37played... By making the following adjustments.
- 26:39So I think it didn't work for us. So we tried
- 26:41each doing the one player version. I think so.
- 26:45That would make sense. Yeah. In addition to having
- 26:49a mirror and a lockable door. The bathroom used
- 26:51to play the one player version. Must also have
- 26:54a functional toilet. You enter the bathroom alone.
- 26:57Turn out the lights and lock the door. Instead
- 27:00of writing on a bathroom mirror, you rock your
- 27:02arms back and forth and chant the phrase, blue
- 27:05baby, baby blue, 13 times like Bloody Mary. That
- 27:08sounds more familiar with what we did. You will
- 27:11feel the weight appear after you do the Bloody
- 27:14Mary version of it. And as you feel the weight
- 27:20intensify, now you will also feel scratching
- 27:25and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Be
- 27:28careful when the scratching begins. It means
- 27:30the baby does not wish to be held any longer.
- 27:32Do not hold the baby for too long, or else you'll
- 27:36feel the wrath of its mother. When you feel the
- 27:39first scratch, quickly hold your arms over the
- 27:42toilet and release the weight they hold. Flush
- 27:45the toilet. So essentially in this version, in
- 27:51the one -player version, you just stand there
- 27:54rocking. cradling an imaginary baby until you
- 27:57feel the weight of a baby and you chant you chant
- 28:0113 times blue baby baby blue blue baby baby blue
- 28:05and then you feel the weight of a baby and you
- 28:08keep rocking it but then you feel scratching
- 28:11and as soon as you feel the first scratch you
- 28:13gotta quickly dispose of the baby by flushing
- 28:15it down the toilet otherwise the demon mother
- 28:20of the ghost baby will kill you This is a horrible
- 28:24game. Why did you guys play this? Keep in mind,
- 28:29this is our third time we've ever met each other.
- 28:31We're not done yet. We're not done. There's two
- 28:34more instructions. Oh my god. How can it get
- 28:37worse? After you flush the baby down the toilet,
- 28:41you're supposed to unlock the door and exit.
- 28:46If you're able to, because that means you've
- 28:49won. Yes. If you're unable to unlock the door
- 28:52after doing that, if the door doesn't unlock,
- 28:56that means you've lost the game. And remember,
- 29:02there's no fury like the fury of an angry parent.
- 29:07You get no prize for winning. But do not lose.
- 29:14The gift of winning is just... Bragging rights.
- 29:21No, it's just being alive. It said bragging rights.
- 29:24You get bragging rights. Who's bragging this
- 29:27to anybody? Nobody. This is not a game you should
- 29:29brag about. No, you're going to look crazy. I'm
- 29:33bragging about it right now. I wouldn't say we're
- 29:36bragging about it, but we're just talking about
- 29:38it. I mean, did you guys feel anything? Absolutely
- 29:42nothing. No, no, no, but we didn't die. We won.
- 29:47But that also means you didn't do it successfully.
- 29:51Yeah, that is true. That is true. That is true.
- 29:56I guess I'm not bragging about playing it. I'm
- 29:59bragging about incorrectly playing it. Hey, Ben.
- 30:05Okay. Can you look that one up and see what the
- 30:08danger level for that is? That's got to be on
- 30:11that website. I looked it up and you know what
- 30:14AI told me? Oh, God. It said, Baby blue, blue
- 30:17baby refers to a TikTok ghost legend where chanting
- 30:20in a dark bathroom is said to produce a ghostly
- 30:22baby. It is commonly confused with the real blue
- 30:25baby syndrome, a real medical condition caused
- 30:29by low blood oxygen. No one is mixing that up.
- 30:32Nobody's mixing that up. Now it says, for more
- 30:37information, Dr. Helen Tosig developed treatments
- 30:41for this condition in the 1940s. Please ensure
- 30:46you are distinguishing between the spooky interest
- 30:49trend and the serious medical condition. I feel
- 30:57like nobody's... Well, you know what? I was going
- 31:00to say, I feel like nobody's Googling, why is
- 31:02my baby blue? And getting those two things confused.
- 31:07But also at the same time, we do live in that
- 31:11world. I feel like someone must have, because
- 31:14where is AI getting this information that gets
- 31:18confused, you know? Yeah, exactly. Like, it must
- 31:22happen somewhere. Or someone. God, okay. It is
- 31:30not actually on the Paranormal Rituals wiki.
- 31:33Interesting. But it is on the generic wiki how.
- 31:41Sounds like you need to add to the wiki page
- 31:45a new entry. I feel like that's something you
- 31:49can do. And it has these amazing graphics, like
- 31:55it's a normal wikiHow article. Yeah, you should
- 31:58have showed Ben that wiki article when you're
- 32:02trying to explain to him how to hold a baby.
- 32:06Gosh. I'm bad. Gotta love wikiHow. I love this.
- 32:17Step forward says flush the baby down the toilet
- 32:19and leave the bathroom. Oh, this has a new twist
- 32:26to it. It says if you make it out of the bathroom
- 32:28you won. If you're too slow to leave the bathroom,
- 32:31a hideous woman will appear and yell at you to
- 32:34give back the baby. That sounds terrifying. So
- 32:39in this version, there's a speed component. You
- 32:42have to quickly unlock the door because if you're
- 32:44too slow, a hideous, ugly woman will yell at
- 32:47you through the mirror. Yeah, we definitely didn't
- 32:49experience that. We didn't experience that. Not
- 32:54at all. I love how there's different versions
- 32:56of it. Much like we were saying with Bloody Mary,
- 32:58how like chanting three times, 13 times. That's
- 33:00common with folklore. These stories take on a
- 33:03life of their own. At least with Bloody Mary.
- 33:07we proved and discussed that there is real fear
- 33:13surrounding doing that as kids. I don't know
- 33:16so much about flushing a baby down the toilet
- 33:18thing, but the Hooded Man ritual, too. There's
- 33:22a whole film created loosely based on it. Still,
- 33:25it did not talk about why you need to be naked,
- 33:27though. Did you notice that? They didn't say
- 33:29anything. I still, like we've talked about many
- 33:33times with rituals, it all has to do with intent,
- 33:37I feel like. I mean, if you take it seriously,
- 33:41it's going to be as serious as you make it. If
- 33:44you're doing it as a joke, like... That means
- 33:47when we do it, we have to take it seriously as
- 33:50if it's going to actually happen. Does the intention
- 33:53of the person that creates the ritual matter
- 33:56if you create it as a meme or as... you know,
- 34:00a joke. Does it still have effect? I mean, I
- 34:04think it's the same thing as, like, in my brain,
- 34:11I'm comparing, like, the act of doing a ritual,
- 34:16like, the intent that you put into it. is like
- 34:19what makes it real it's the same thing as like
- 34:22an egregore you could make up this random thing
- 34:24but if as many if so many people believe in it
- 34:27it becomes real like it all has to do with intent
- 34:31so it doesn't matter if it's made as a joke if
- 34:36enough people believe in it then something's
- 34:40gonna happen all right stay with me all right
- 34:43dun dun dun three I'm good. Thanks for listening
