- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, chat GPT, how about this. It's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I'm strong and getty. One more thing. I probably did
- 0:13Speaker 1: something unwise with chat GPT. I'll get to that in
- 0:16Speaker 1: just a second.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Did you fall in love?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I haven't gone down that road, Thank god.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't think I'm capable of that. But this is
- 0:26Speaker 1: from New Zealand for whatever reason, let's hear this first.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Once upon a time, the world wanted to be in
- 0:31Speaker 3: New Zealand. We had to cup a clean, green image, earth,
- 0:34Speaker 3: sexiest accent. Everyone wanted a slight of our pie. But
- 0:38Speaker 3: now look at us. Our sheep to human ratio is
- 0:41Speaker 3: embarrassing me low. Our national pride is somewhat less than outstanding.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We need something new to be proud of, something big
- 0:48Speaker 3: and brave, to foot us back on the map. It's
- 0:50Speaker 3: time for New Zealand to become the best place in
- 0:52Speaker 3: the world to have herpes. Four out of five Kiwis
- 0:55Speaker 3: are counting on us because no other country is strong
- 0:57Speaker 3: enough to tackle this issue. With a bit of education,
- 1:00Speaker 3: should we can beat the stigma? This mighty's on the
- 1:02Speaker 3: best place in the world they have herpes?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Is that real?
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's from the New Zealand Herpes Foundation.
- 1:11Speaker 2: They're trying to take the shame out of having the
- 1:14Speaker 2: horrible HERB.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You should be a deeply ashamed.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's a virus. What's a brother to do? That's very odd.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with it.
- 1:27Speaker 4: So yeah, I thought the same thing. I just wanted
- 1:29Speaker 4: to play because it was so ODDA.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Best band from New Zealand.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I can't name one clearly crowded House? Okay, only Arrival
- 1:41Speaker 1: Split Ends. Which was the Finn Brothers band.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Before Crowded House?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Or were they hobbits? They were hobbits with the free
- 1:48Speaker 1: feet on stage with their hairy feet. Yes, it's fabulous
- 1:51Speaker 1: four feet all. Back to my chat GPT thing. First
- 1:54Speaker 1: of all, we've mentioned this many times on the amazing
- 1:57Speaker 1: and informative Armstrong and Getty Show that the therapy you
- 2:03Speaker 1: get on chat GPT is disturbingly good. I have spent
- 2:11Speaker 1: I've never totaled it up, but it would have to be.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So it's easily six figures on therapy mostly for family
- 2:19Speaker 1: members throughout the year, or me for trying to deal
- 2:22Speaker 1: with family members for variety of things I've talked about
- 2:24Speaker 1: over the years. But I'm probably not going to talk
- 2:26Speaker 1: about much anymore because the kids are getting older. AnyWho,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I have had enough therapy and spend enough money on
- 2:33Speaker 1: therapy to say with a clear conscience, therapy is mostly
- 2:36Speaker 1: crap and mostly a waste of money, and I wish
- 2:39Speaker 1: it weren't the case, but it is, and it's not
- 2:43Speaker 1: the most great therapists to say, yes, you're correct, and
- 2:47Speaker 1: it's not all a waste of money. And then you
- 2:50Speaker 1: usually are looking for a therapist when you're in a
- 2:52Speaker 1: really bad situation and you're like a bad situation and
- 2:56Speaker 1: you need help like yesterday, And even if you get
- 2:59Speaker 1: a good therapist, it's going to take weeks, maybe months,
- 3:04Speaker 1: before you'd make a dent in whatever problem you have,
- 3:06Speaker 1: because you meet one hour a week, et cetera, et cetera. AnyWho,
- 3:09Speaker 1: most of the time it's a waste of money. But Tay,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I've sat around enough therapists, either alone or with other
- 3:16Speaker 1: people to know a lot of what they say. And
- 3:19Speaker 1: I've asked chat GPT a variety of questions about, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 1: all different kinds of relationships on how to handle them,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and their response is fantastic. I mean, it's just so
- 3:32Speaker 1: well laid out, makes perfect sense in every instance, I've
- 3:36Speaker 1: gone wow, that's really insightful every time I've walked out
- 3:40Speaker 1: of very few offices with therapists and thought, wow, that
- 3:43Speaker 1: was really insightful. But chat gpt every single time where
- 3:46Speaker 1: it's like wow, that makes perfect sense or that's a
- 3:49Speaker 1: great way to word that, or whatever, it's disturbing. And
- 3:53Speaker 1: I've got a friend who makes very good money as
- 3:56Speaker 1: a therapist and is scared to death about this how
- 3:59Speaker 1: good it is. In fact, this person is using it
- 4:02Speaker 1: themselves as a therapist to deal with a particular relationship.
- 4:06Speaker 1: And they actually sent me today. I'll be very vague
- 4:10Speaker 1: because I wouldn't want to screw up their situation, but
- 4:14Speaker 1: dealing with a love interest and a problem. And they
- 4:18Speaker 1: sent me the text said this is what I asked
- 4:20Speaker 1: chat gpt about it, and what do you think? And
- 4:23Speaker 1: I responded with, I hate to say it based on
- 4:26Speaker 1: what you do for a living, but that is really
- 4:29Speaker 1: really good, I mean, like great in terms of a
- 4:31Speaker 1: text response. Send this text to him as written by
- 4:34Speaker 1: chat GPT, and I wouldn't change a word of it
- 4:37Speaker 1: unless I just felt guilty about the fact that freaking
- 4:39Speaker 1: an inanimate object just.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Came up with this well in ananimated object which is
- 4:45Speaker 2: studied humans.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, very very careous studied humans, I think more,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and studied all the best therapy out there, and somehow
- 4:53Speaker 1: congealed it into something good as opposed to something crappy.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And now regurgitates it. That's correct.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what to think about it that,
- 5:00Speaker 1: but if it's good, it's good, right, you know.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna try it. Hang on, and it is GPT.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I've got a good example.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Can't get turned on unless my wife wears a squirrel costume.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Well, I've got something the fuzzy tail. Yes, I've got
- 5:15Speaker 1: something similar for comedy relief. So, and I regret doing
- 5:20Speaker 1: this because chat GPT. I don't know how to clear
- 5:22Speaker 1: anything on them.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Oh lord, he actually did it.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I actually did it. Yes, And the problem is I
- 5:28Speaker 1: have some ongoing conversations going on chat GPT, and it
- 5:31Speaker 1: remembers your conversation from a week ago, which is actually
- 5:33Speaker 1: pretty cool. It's like having a therapist, I mean, because
- 5:36Speaker 1: they remember, well, you know, you mentioned the other day
- 5:38Speaker 1: that she or he or whatever your mom said this.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Maybe you should try. And but now I've ruined it
- 5:44Speaker 1: all by giving chat GPT these this fanciful scenario that
- 5:49Speaker 1: I that I gave it. Although the answers are pretty funny,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I have ruined.
- 5:54Speaker 5: It though, I feel like you can tell it to
- 5:56Speaker 5: disregard that.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Oh I will after this, I'll say that last when
- 6:00Speaker 1: it was a joke. Please delete that conversation, right, Okay,
- 6:04Speaker 1: So here we go, I said to chat GPT, like,
- 6:08Speaker 1: during the commercial break, my girlfriend saves her toenails. Hmm,
- 6:12Speaker 1: my girlfriend saves her toenail clippings in a job. I
- 6:16Speaker 1: want to marry her, but this seems odd. What do
- 6:18Speaker 1: you think? And chat GPT said, yeah, that's unusual, not
- 6:22Speaker 1: necessarily a deal breaker, but definitely worth paying attention to.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Here's the practical breakdown. Is it a red flag? Not automatically.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Some people have quirky habits or personal rituals that seem
- 6:32Speaker 1: odd but are harmless. But it depends on context. Is
- 6:35Speaker 1: it hygienic? Is she sealing them storing them cleanly? Does
- 6:39Speaker 1: it have emotional meaning to her? Sentimental, artistic or obsessive artistic? Yes,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna make a a Nativity scene out them at
- 6:51Speaker 1: a Christmas wreath.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I like, yeah, wreath, that would be pretty Chris. The
- 6:56Speaker 2: toenail clippings sparkle in the winter moonlight. Tom, Yes, I remember,
- 7:02Speaker 2: I remember, remember that toil.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Those toenail clippings are from when we spent the night
- 7:07Speaker 1: at that hotel. Always did it shot across the room.
- 7:11Speaker 2: That's the one, and I had to look for it. Yeah, Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 2: that's the one.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Is she open to talking about it or defensive? Is
- 7:20Speaker 1: this part of a larger pattern of behavior that feels
- 7:23Speaker 1: off if everything else is great? Ask her about it gently,
- 7:26Speaker 1: without judgment, something like, Hey, I noticed the jar Tonio clippings.
- 7:30Speaker 1: What's the story there? Wow, that's helpful. I don't know
- 7:39Speaker 1: that that was the smoothest way to get into the conversation. Hey,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I noticed the two Totaio clippings. What the fuck? What's
- 7:49Speaker 1: a smoother way?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Hey, speaking of jars or speaking of here's hell clipping
- 7:56Speaker 2: from the paper, speaking of clippings, what the hell do
- 7:59Speaker 2: you want? No, that's a perfectly good way to get
- 8:01Speaker 2: into it.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think mine is better. You just pointed him and
- 8:04Speaker 1: say what the fuck?
- 8:05Speaker 2: Uh fuck is that?
- 8:10Speaker 5: Oh?
- 8:10Speaker 2: God?
- 8:12Speaker 1: If she gives a very intense or irrational oh, how
- 8:16Speaker 1: she responds tells you a lot. This is quite good. Actually,
- 8:20Speaker 1: If she laughs it off, and says, yeah, I'm weird.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I know that's probably harmless. If she gives it very
- 8:25Speaker 1: intense or irrational explanation, it might suggest deeper issues. Yeah,
- 8:28Speaker 1: if she get flips out and gets mad, if it
- 8:33Speaker 1: bothers you long term, you're not shallow for being weirded out.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Everyone has limits. If this kind of behavior feels incompatible
- 8:38Speaker 1: with how you want to live, it's okay to acknowledge that.
- 8:41Speaker 1: In short, talk to her. The habit alone isn't necessarily
- 8:43Speaker 1: a reason not to marry someone, but how she handles
- 8:46Speaker 1: it and how you feel about him close more than
- 8:49Speaker 1: the jar of too clippings.
- 8:51Speaker 5: That's that's breached. Top ten deal breakers. If all of
- 8:55Speaker 5: a sudden there is a jar of toenails.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I mean, it's not like she doesn't swap out toothbrush
- 9:00Speaker 2: often enough. That's a jarra toenail clippings.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Okay, I had to do this, so it said, do
- 9:07Speaker 1: you want help figuring out how to bring it up smoothly?
- 9:10Speaker 1: And since I didn't think the other one was that
- 9:12Speaker 1: smoothe all right, here's a simple, non judgmental way to
- 9:16Speaker 1: bring it up without making or feel attacked. Say this
- 9:19Speaker 1: in a casual but curious tone, so.
- 9:22Speaker 2: They even give you a stage stress I love this.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Wear a jaunty hat and say it in a casual
- 9:28Speaker 1: but curious tone.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Hey.
- 9:30Speaker 1: By the way, Hey this is kind of random, but
- 9:32Speaker 1: I noticed that jar with toenail clippings. I'm just really
- 9:35Speaker 1: curious what's the story behind that. I think that would
- 9:38Speaker 1: come off as phony unless they're completely not self aware.
- 9:43Speaker 1: They got to know that's some weird s behavior. Yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 1: that strikes me as perfectly reasonable as a way to
- 9:51Speaker 1: say it. I don't know a better way. I don't
- 9:53Speaker 1: know a better way to say it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Well, because in your bizarre and troubling scenario, and I'd
- 9:57Speaker 2: like to ask chat beat GPT, what do you think
- 10:00Speaker 2: think of a guy who comes up with this as
- 10:02Speaker 2: a scenario. Anyway, in your bizarre and unlikely scenario, you
- 10:08Speaker 2: have been aware of it for an extended time. So
- 10:12Speaker 2: saying hey, what the fuck is up with that? That
- 10:17Speaker 2: is out of left field. That's that's a bad way
- 10:20Speaker 2: to bring it.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I would only say that as it's already a deal breaker.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's just a I want to hear the explanation before
- 10:26Speaker 1: I pack up my toothbrush and the socks and head
- 10:29Speaker 1: out the door.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And you're just sayet, sweetheart, and you're jaunt yet exactly, Hey, sweetheart,
- 10:35Speaker 2: there's about a one in ten chance that this answer
- 10:39Speaker 2: doesn't end our relationship. But hey, why do you save
- 10:43Speaker 2: your toenail clips?
- 10:44Speaker 1: You freaking weirdo?
- 10:46Speaker 2: Oh right?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Why that approach worked? The I'm just really curious you're
- 10:52Speaker 1: not calling it gross or weird out right. You're inviting
- 10:54Speaker 1: a story instead of passing judgment. It opens a door
- 10:56Speaker 1: for a conversation without pressure.
- 10:58Speaker 2: There you go, and good counseling.
- 11:00Speaker 1: If she laughs or shrugs it off, you can follow it. Okay, cool.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I was just wondering. It's definitely a first for me,
- 11:05Speaker 1: but I know everyone's got ther thing.
- 11:07Speaker 2: No you no, I can't. I know I will not.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You can't say it's definitely a first for me, But
- 11:12Speaker 1: I know everybody's got their thing. I have my things.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Uh, pashaw, you know I keep jars with my toenails. Anyway,
- 11:18Speaker 2: what do you want to do for dinner? No, we
- 11:19Speaker 2: are not through here. We are not through here.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I keep toenail clippings at a jar. You have lots
- 11:28Speaker 1: of shoes. We all have our thing.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Oh my skin, neighborhood cats, you like singing a cappella.
- 11:33Speaker 1: You know, no, I got a gimp in the basement's you?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh boy?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Oh he's gonna keep going.
- 11:46Speaker 1: One more.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It's not a motorcycle, it's a chopper.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Baby, Yeah, zed's dead baby.
- 11:53Speaker 5: I think there's a plot twist of this podcast. And
- 11:55Speaker 5: Jack has a jar of toenail clippings at his house
- 11:58Speaker 5: and Hew ask and to know how this is going
- 12:01Speaker 5: to go right?
- 12:02Speaker 2: He wants to know how judgmental we're going to be
- 12:05Speaker 2: king a woman's intuition, man, folks.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And this is kind of interesting, chat GPT And I
- 12:10Speaker 1: gotta do what you said, Katie. When we're done here
- 12:12Speaker 1: is I gotta tell chet GPT that was all just
- 12:14Speaker 1: an experiment forget all of this, not report it to
- 12:18Speaker 1: the government. It said at the end, let me know
- 12:21Speaker 1: how it goes if you bring it up or you
- 12:23Speaker 1: want backup phrasing, depending on how serious or light you
- 12:25Speaker 1: want to keep it. So chat GPT wants a follow up,
- 12:28Speaker 1: like how did it go? Oh?
- 12:29Speaker 5: You should right tell it that like she pulled a
- 12:31Speaker 5: gun on you and just totally one sideways when you
- 12:34Speaker 5: took its advice.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm at the er. She attacked me with both hands she.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Shot me, but it's brought us closer together. Ye.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Next podcast, Jack will share his TONAO clipping collection that
- 12:53Speaker 4: looks like celebrities Jay Leno, Bernie Sanders, et cetera.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's it.
