- 0:34And welcome back. We took a week off for the
- 0:38football game last week, but we're back.
- 0:41Today, we are double digits today, episode 10, and the
- 0:47regular crew is here. Why don't you go ahead and say,
- 0:50hi, Mike. Hi Mike, R, Mike.
- 0:55Hi Mike, How was your week, Mike.
- 1:01Let's see this past week. Wasn't wasn't too bad.
- 1:09I had an off day on Thursday to go to a go to a meeting and I
- 1:15am. So I was telling you in the
- 1:17pre-show, I'm on site for the Kansas Spring booster meeting.
- 1:23So if you any of you are going to be there tomorrow, say hi to
- 1:26Mike. Josh, how was your week?
- 1:32Oh wasn't too horrible. Finally got them to start
- 1:36training. The end of run report.
- 1:39Now I just have to get them on doing the radar report right
- 1:45there with you. Bill Bill, how was it?
- 1:49How was your week? I loved it.
- 1:52It was a four-day week work week except for Monday every day
- 1:57would like we're getting minimal.
- 2:01Amazon like everybody else and you know, our management hit a
- 2:08new low for intelligence. Is that possible?
- 2:13Every time I think that they can't they prove me wrong.
- 2:18Just every time you think they've just when you think
- 2:21they've hit the bottom of the hole, they continue to dig.
- 2:24All right. I'll give you one.
- 2:25Quick example. Everyday carrier takes mail and
- 2:29Parcels to the back of the Office, which is 250 feet away
- 2:34because the prison in our in his on his route that picks up the
- 2:38mail and they have to go through it and everything.
- 2:41She told him that they're not measuring that because it's not
- 2:45that type of count. Yeah.
- 2:50No. I would have to get would
- 2:52intercede. I would have to agree with that,
- 2:55because that isn't that at least, miscellaneous time?
- 2:58Yes, it is. And I had a lot.
- 3:01I had to do it for you. I have to do a PDI on Tuesday
- 3:06with him, because he looked at her and said, are you fucking
- 3:10stupid? Oh my God.
- 3:15And the answer is, yes, she is. Yes, I guess that it's, it was
- 3:23it was a very light worker, my office, this week as well.
- 3:28Ran my Ox Route 3 days this week for a change on top of helping
- 3:33out the newbies. Yeah, that's been my week.
- 3:37I didn't have any Amazon on the 48k Iran yesterday though.
- 3:42I do know we have a contractor, delivering Amazon up in that
- 3:46area. Only because I was like oh
- 3:49there's my Amazon packages as I'm dropping off something else
- 3:51or driving past a house but yeah it was pretty late this week
- 3:57too. So I'm interesting to see what
- 3:59Tuesday is going to hold for me on that 48k.
- 4:01Don't worry, those Amazon package will be bad.
- 4:05I don't doubt it. I mean I've ran into the guy
- 4:07once I haven't had a chance to talk to him.
- 4:10He was getting back into his pickup truck.
- 4:12That just had Amazon Parcels tossed into the bed.
- 4:15Not covered at all. I do live in In Michigan.
- 4:18You know, we do get snow, we did get rain, we got seven and eight
- 4:21inches of fall on us, Thursday night, it happens, you know,
- 4:25driving down the road sideways and then I ll be yesterday.
- 4:28That's always fun because it wasn't plowed yet.
- 4:32But yeah, that was my week. So, do we think that?
- 4:39I mean, I was trying to describe this to somebody else that when
- 4:44they hear mail, count or mail survey, and people start
- 4:51thinking, oh, male count. And that the same old games,
- 4:56they used to play in preparation for the male, count are going to
- 5:00be played. IE, Parcels get diverted to
- 5:07Arkham. To our competition Flats, try up
- 5:12and DPS. Comes in light and Christine.
- 5:19You know, I hope that's what it looks like it's happening.
- 5:21I do I, you know, the parcels, is it really going to matter?
- 5:26Well, not, you know, I know. But yeah.
- 5:30The I kind of already noticed a difference in the DPS a little
- 5:35bit. The last few days Arena has been
- 5:37lighter but it has been a little bit more pristine.
- 5:41We did have a thick Tuesday, there was a mailer that went out
- 5:46from one of Local grocery stores and every single piece of that
- 5:49was upside-down and 3/4 of Rome where insufficient addresses.
- 5:56And but after that. Yeah, I think I think as we come
- 6:01into this last week before the survey starts, we're going to
- 6:05see our mail. Getting I think they're going to
- 6:07turn the speed down on those machines.
- 6:09Just a little bit and we're going to be seeing stuff come in
- 6:13looking a lot neater than it has.
- 6:15Up until I can totally see that. Although although I will say,
- 6:20all right. I will be in heaven now.
- 6:36Although I will say, I have noticed more this last week,
- 6:42I've had three or four occasions where parts of the DPS have been
- 6:50jammed in the in the Sorting machine.
- 6:52Yeah, so you get the rubber dust and the the part up looking and
- 6:59crumpled mail and the ripped open envelopes.
- 7:02And yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:06I love delivering that when they're standing at the matte
- 7:08box going, this looks a little ripped up.
- 7:10Yeah, that's how it came to me. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:13That's just how I pulled it out of that.
- 7:15DPS. Sorry.
- 7:19Yeah. It's and I think a lot of people
- 7:22I mean especially those of us that have been around for
- 7:25previous actual mail counts. Are we overthinking this?
- 7:31Oh God. Yes.
- 7:34I mean I've been through two three male counts.
- 7:37I want to say personally yeah I can see I could see where people
- 7:46are. Overthinking it, but it, yeah,
- 7:50it'll be interesting to see how this actually goes.
- 7:55And I'm curious what evaluations will end up turning out to be.
- 8:03Well, I figured this point I'm going to no harm no foul
- 8:06situation. Yeah.
- 8:09If we are the, the fear mongers are right, and everyone's
- 8:15dropping two hours, suppose me down 2046, so I'm sleep.
- 8:20Yeah, some of those routes though we don't want to see him.
- 8:23Drop down that low. I you know if it goes how I
- 8:29think it might I'm getting cut. Anyway, I'm already over 48.
- 8:36I think the ones that I can see that are actually going to lose
- 8:39the hours or those that ones that had Amazon at the last
- 8:42count, five years ago and no longer have it.
- 8:46I think those are the ones we're going to see, but I think in
- 8:48those majority of those offices that got Amazon, after the last
- 8:54male count like mine, a particular I can see probably
- 9:00breaking even maybe a little Kris just because the mail
- 9:04volumes drop so much. well, you know what l I, Agree that I
- 9:18agree with you to an extent. But it's the ones that aren't
- 9:25doing the scans except for the six mandatory.
- 9:29Yes, that that makes a difference.
- 9:32I've been trying to remember the post I do ones.
- 9:35That's my biggest one but I you know, the unscannable parcels
- 9:39and especially trips to the door.
- 9:41I am right on that trip to the door.
- 9:43One that I don't think I've ever missed one on that one.
- 9:47But yeah, I can yeah if you're not doing the extras, mostly
- 9:52mine. But I will admit sometimes a
- 9:58little forgetful and or lacks a daisy.
- 10:00Oh about some of the skin. However, like I said at this
- 10:05point, I'm not overly worried about it because what we're my
- 10:11route is right now. Yeah, I know I shouldn't be like
- 10:15that but I'm confident my routes going to going to stay about the
- 10:22same ordeal. Our has told us you know North
- 10:26Carolina just took The 4400 routes give you know give or
- 10:29take. Yeah.
- 10:32In the last key gets a scan report everyday from District.
- 10:38In the last three weeks or so. there has been no less than 1400
- 10:49routes that only had the six cans again.
- 10:54Wow, sorry, yeah. They'll be on occasion some days
- 10:59where you don't have anything extra, that's a lot.
- 11:03Usually one in the last three weeks there was one day where it
- 11:06was 2500 last more than hand that's more than 50%.
- 11:13So you say you know, In a two to three-week.
- 11:19Period. the minimum the smallest number of routes that only had
- 11:26sex was working under that's 25% on an average because you know,
- 11:36Twenty-five percent of North Carolina of the North Carolina
- 11:40District which I'm sure transcends across the country.
- 11:45You know between all the districts that are not doing
- 11:50anything but a six mandatory and in some cases there's routes
- 11:54aren't doing that. Yeah for whatever reason I think
- 12:00the best thing though is is when people you know figure figure it
- 12:04out, what they're supposed to be doing.
- 12:05Well, what they Have been doing all along that it should, you
- 12:08know, it won't take. But maybe six months to really
- 12:13build the route back up, just a little, it'll take until this
- 12:18time next year in September and October effective date.
- 12:27We'll see an increase, yeah. So they go from.
- 12:31I'm just picking numbers here. They go from 25 down to 41 now,
- 12:37In september/october, oval recoup to like a 43 and then
- 12:44next march they'll be back to that 45 if they actually start
- 12:49doing everything. They're supposed to.
- 12:51But I have polite. But, you know, I do do extra
- 12:55extra scans, you know, because I have I have certain spots that,
- 12:59you know, I just can't, I just can't.
- 13:02I just can't do like it's a cc B.
- 13:05You and I just can't seem to get it done.
- 13:07A lot of days without making at least two trips 14 Parcels one
- 13:12for mail and then I had, you know, I had the customer last
- 13:16week who got ten big boxes from Academy Sports that I had to
- 13:25take them all to the door and it took me six trips.
- 13:28Yeah. Right.
- 13:29You know and I did also and I scan them all at the door like
- 13:33you're supposed to but you know, You know, our Escape out our
- 13:38nine number of trips six. Boom, you know what was the
- 13:46other one I had recently? I guess that's it.
- 13:49And then just remembering to do unscanned, parcel.
- 13:52If you have a vacation, hold your taking out, Oh yeah, I
- 13:56remember that yesterday they had a big bundle of male going out
- 14:00and I did, I had to, I did let you know.
- 14:03The carriers are reminded them that if it's eight pieces are
- 14:06more and that hold mail going out.
- 14:07It is an unscalable partial Yep. Yes I had to I had to yesterday,
- 14:15I have to that. I bundled up for delivery
- 14:17tomorrow because people have been going on their spring
- 14:20spring break break vacations. They're coming starting to
- 14:23trickle their way back. Now here's a here's and what's
- 14:27nice if hold mail is eight pieces or more going out as an
- 14:33unscalable parsable. What about those?
- 14:36Those houses that we get that, get two to three handfuls of DPS
- 14:39or A day and they get all the flats.
- 14:44You know, they get 12 pieces 12 to 30 pieces of flats a date,
- 14:49you know, the day or I mean I I know of a couple of them on the
- 14:54outside run, man. Literally, you know, you're just
- 14:59grabbing handfuls until you stop seeing as male, you know.
- 15:02Oh yeah, I get the customers that, you know, I see there at
- 15:07the see, BU going through their mail and you just Get to the
- 15:10point. You're like effort find the last
- 15:12piece. Yes.
- 15:14And then the next and then the next day they're like, oh this
- 15:17isn't mine. It's like yeah.
- 15:18I know I got tired of going through the you know the other
- 15:20two inches of mail you my I couldn't hold it in my hands
- 15:25anymore. Right?
- 15:28So why we have weird before we went on, we were discussing the
- 15:35end of run report and like my one large company.
- 15:39That Corporation had, what was it?
- 15:42That end of one that I share with you guys?
- 15:44They had 34 hundred pieces that day.
- 15:46Yeah. Which was actually a whiter day
- 15:49for them recently. I think one day last week they
- 15:53had 11,000 and change. So, you know, but it's, you
- 16:08know, fate when you say and they have like that, the two inch to
- 16:12three inches of mail and or flats that puts, you know,
- 16:17that's a little bit of a gray area there.
- 16:23You don't, I am. Yeah.
- 16:24Because it's just That's the volume of mail that they get on
- 16:30a regular basis. It's not like they went on old
- 16:33and they came back a week later and they have 50 pieces of mail.
- 16:40Yeah, it's it's different. If it's, you know, the kind of
- 16:45people Kristen said, you know, those kind of customers where
- 16:48they get that kind of volume everyday because you're
- 16:52delivering it every day as opposed to, you know, these
- 16:54people have been out of town for ten days and they built up that
- 16:58volume of mail over 10 days ago and one of those guys and when
- 17:02one of those households goes on, hold for a week and they have
- 17:06two tubs of mail to deliver after that one week.
- 17:10Because they get that much mail every day.
- 17:13Yep. And it's all just snacking
- 17:16personally. Anyway.
- 17:39Anyway, yeah. Yeah, I'm wondering if I could
- 17:45take it to Cable, well, to cater to a two-hour hit on me.
- 17:50Takes me from a 45 2043. Ouch, And that's where my when I
- 17:56took the route over, that's what I started at, it was a 43 and
- 18:02then we lost FSS and I went up to ours. so, but I have not my
- 18:10whole route, but I have lots of parcels.
- 18:16So I don't have individuals who just seem to get lots of parcels
- 18:22every day. It's the same ones every day.
- 18:26And once it's got it's gotten to the point that I can that I
- 18:29sometimes you know, I'll see the kind of parcel it is and I bet
- 18:33oh I bet I know where this goes and oh yeah nine times I've had
- 18:37them write for this looks like it's a bundle of Love, see the
- 18:42media mail? I bet it CDs.
- 18:44Yep that goes to 144th. Court either found fourth
- 18:47quarter, one guy, had one of the routes I run that orders a vinyl
- 18:53records. So every time I'm on that route,
- 18:56And I'm like, oh, you know, I see the boxes, the vinyl records
- 18:59come in and I'm like, I know instantly that goes without even
- 19:02looking at the address, you know.
- 19:04Yeah. We've got some of those.
- 19:05I got one on my one primary who I think she personally keeps
- 19:09Macy's and business. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:15And those damn orange Teemu packages, man, I am over those.
- 19:20Oh my God. That's that's new.
- 19:22And I've got I've got, I've got a team.
- 19:26Ooh. Ooh, you got a TV Junkie I have
- 19:29at emu Chucky just like it. My old office up an Iowa.
- 19:33I used to have Zulily. I used to call them the Zulily
- 19:36ladies because oh my God, every day that I would sub on this
- 19:41route, I always had like, yeah, 10 boxes from Zulily.
- 19:46It was always the same, always the same people I Let's be
- 19:51correct here, you know. Okay.
- 19:53No, they were ladies, they were all four women.
- 19:54I'm sorry. Oh yeah.
- 19:56There are the Stitch fix ones. I get the same ones with Steak
- 19:59House do tricks. Yeah.
- 20:00Yeah. Yeah II.
- 20:04I get it. Yeah.
- 20:08We see that. Or you see that orange bag in
- 20:10there? And it's like, on one route,
- 20:12it's one of two houses because they're the ones that order it.
- 20:15And that one day, I was working my primary, and I had my phone.
- 20:20Having it hasn't clicked in on which ousted exactly it is yet.
- 20:25You know what I mean? I think I get I can identify all
- 20:29that stuff. Me mad now.
- 20:30Oh no, yeah we I know my but I have a few that I know with
- 20:38therefore during I've got a, I got a vinyl collector, I've got
- 20:44one guy who gets a lot of CDs that I don't know what he gets
- 20:49in there, buddy. Gets lots of CDs.
- 20:51Little packages of CDs. I got a couple of of Teemu
- 20:55people BarkBox. I know all my, you know BarkBox
- 21:02is like one of three or four people. yeah, but you know, but
- 21:10you know, I've been saying for the last, you know, to talk
- 21:13about Rex again, you know I've been seeing for at least the
- 21:20last month, I don't seem to have as many like highs and lows in
- 21:28my parcels. I mean, tomorrow will be an
- 21:34exception obviously, because because the holiday, but I've
- 21:39been, I've been my total parcel or my total saying how my total
- 21:44parcel, my total scans is, is seems to be met in about the,
- 21:51you know, the hundred to about 125.
- 21:55And if I look at my account paperwork for my 4241, the 4241
- 22:01from the last count on my route, it looked like it was 86.
- 22:07So that's good. A little, a little high, a
- 22:12little higher than normal, a little higher than for what I
- 22:15from what my route was counted. At Not enough to make that much
- 22:20of a difference. Well 2020 a day.
- 22:28And that's and that was, you know, but you have to remember
- 22:31the old count standard on Parcels.
- 22:33Yeah. You know, this is everything
- 22:36with well that and that everything with the barcode is a
- 22:40parcel. Now, you know, we're not arguing
- 22:43over the, you know, well, you can fit that you can fit this
- 22:47non Bottle Into the pill of the pill of the things.
- 22:50Got the pills, it in your case. So it's a flat, you know, no
- 22:53more of that crap, you know, if it's kind of damp or parcel,
- 22:57it's just depends on what You deliver it and that's the credit
- 23:00for yeah. Yeah, right.
- 23:02That's you know, the same thing, you know, b, r tubs, I don't
- 23:05know about y'all, but our tub Flats.
- 23:07That's where we get. All of our license plates are
- 23:11still come to the carbons. Well, are you coming through
- 23:15from the plant in the in the flats tubs?
- 23:17In fact we have to do clerk work because for some reason they're
- 23:23not getting the when they come in the tubs, they're not getting
- 23:26the arrival at units can so they were going straight, you know
- 23:32like from the plant and then the next Scan they would get would
- 23:35be delivery and I guess that's a dang on the post office.
- 23:39Yep that happens if I get a fire.
- 23:42If I get a fat one then. Not me well, but we've been
- 23:46ordered now that we have to take take those out and I started
- 23:49doing it, like, with the stamp orders I get.
- 23:51In my by tubs, we have to take them back to the clerks and have
- 23:55the clerk's run them under the past scanner, so they get the
- 23:58arrival at units can? Yeah.
- 24:00I like I said, I when I get a scan on a flat, I just, you
- 24:05know, whatever clerk because my office is obviously smaller than
- 24:08your guys's offices. So, I just literally turn around
- 24:12and be like, hey, our scan this real quick.
- 24:13Me and then I'll throw it up in the case.
- 24:15But yeah I mean those come in every so often I mean I have
- 24:20there's a tax preparer. I want route.
- 24:22So I've been getting a few of those that come in with the
- 24:25flats but other than that, yeah, it's Remembering the checkbooks
- 24:33and stuff that come packages that come in through the
- 24:35partials, that don't get scans and shit like that. so, back to
- 24:44these reports, if somebody hasn't seen them, we were kind
- 24:49of discussing. What little what it means I do
- 24:53on the end of run reports that you can get daily for those
- 24:58counts. There's a lot of questions I've
- 25:01seen for the multi PT which Joshua's Thomas is.
- 25:05Basically if you have anything listed on your multi PT column
- 25:12that's going to be your holdout male, whether that's a business
- 25:15closed for those. This is the door closed on
- 25:17weekends, or whatever day of the week, and you have that Mal held
- 25:20out or S 99 mail that's held out would be under the multi PT and
- 25:28then you have the 999 is, is the working now is the actual role
- 25:35now that they have to work and sort out.
- 25:40What if that, because one of our route, he's one of our routes.
- 25:46They The DS 999 actually goes right with the DPS to that
- 25:52route. It's not sorted out separately.
- 25:54It's route. Wait, you're like this so that I
- 26:00marked by one company is a large corporation on the lightest day
- 26:08this past week and a half. Since I've actually been getting
- 26:12an end of Ron 3,400 pieces was there.
- 26:16So it's set up that it's held out of my DPS.
- 26:22It is own in their own trays listed under the the Hello,
- 26:27Traders for the muku. I know the B is.
- 26:34Box mail, I guess. Um, is multi-point.
- 26:39So for my route, it has that listed there on the far end of
- 26:46that multi point. Where is it?
- 26:50Also includes Under The Taste now, column which the case?
- 26:54Now column is DPS, rejects anything, the machine kick-out,
- 27:02it's typically the courts will give you the rubber banded
- 27:06bundle of mail. Yeah, that's your route.
- 27:10That's fun day. Now, that's already bundled for
- 27:12your route. It used to be carrier routed.
- 27:14Now, with a tag, I still for your route back in the day are
- 27:19still comes with it. Our plant are our plants.
- 27:23Stop tagging them. They just put them on the tray
- 27:26and he clerk will trick the first piece and gives it to the
- 27:29correct route. But that's not going to get
- 27:35counted in the, in the South. No, because it's already.
- 27:40But I don't know animation and it's already.
- 27:42There's already a number for it. It's already been counted
- 27:45somewhere. So, all right.
- 27:48It's just it's just like when we sort out the 3M mail that they
- 27:54bring over the tray of DP o 3M mail from the from where we from
- 27:59where we place it and then when they sort through that that they
- 28:02put in a little cubbies. He's okay.
- 28:04That's the that's what's going to work, counted.
- 28:06Yeah. Anything.
- 28:07It becomes on the tag. If it says in-house or I know
- 28:12the FSS used to have the 999. Yeah.
- 28:17Tag or in-house Hair Care will say.
- 28:23We're coming now. Anything.
- 28:25That's But it's not it's not routed to any particular route,
- 28:37it's for the holes that you know, it's raw working.
- 28:40Now that the clerk actually has to sort out to the individual
- 28:45routes Isaac. That's what we're going to get
- 28:48kind of bored. I have a question answer I have
- 28:52I might have any well I haven't answered it might not be the
- 28:55right one but I have an answer. So with the three ZIP codes in
- 28:58my office The main zip code has the four routes Wednesday code
- 29:06has the ox route and the other Cairo.
- 29:09And the other one is the other zip code, is just the big 48k,
- 29:16however, the two. So, the two zip codes, not the
- 29:20main one, but the two other ones are out to lock pouches.
- 29:23Now, I understand all that when dropping it off and mapping of
- 29:26been there done that but okay, cuz I have no clue about Okay,
- 29:30walk problems. But here's the thing.
- 29:33Now the flats that come in zip code routed, carrier, you know,
- 29:41routes, you know, each route gets its tubs of flats that come
- 29:45in, you know, route, sorted raw. Now the clerk's to go through
- 29:50the one for the one ZIP code that has the two routes and the
- 29:53PO box, and then the other one, the, the wind that's just the
- 29:58one route is So a lock pouch, now that PO Box flats that it
- 30:04comes all intermixed in with that routes flaps.
- 30:10And so when we're case in that mail where, you know, we're
- 30:13tossing, the PO Box stuff in the tub that we're dropping off
- 30:16there, Why workstation? So how is that going to?
- 30:26I got something to ask during the steward.
- 30:28Zoom training tomorrow, honestly, I went yes, yep,
- 30:33definitely. I would definitely ask about
- 30:34that in depending on how its tags.
- 30:42It's tagged. That zip code for the ZIP code,
- 30:48then it should be Or you know, Imperial be sorted by the quote.
- 30:57However, since there's only one route in the zip code They're
- 31:04giving it right to that carrier. Yes.
- 31:08So I'm going to presume. They would get a piece count for
- 31:11it. If you handle it, you get credit
- 31:14for it. That's what I thought because,
- 31:18you know, being locked pouch. We put all the PO Box mail
- 31:20together and take it out. Anyways, so that's what I'm
- 31:24thinking is that with that would all the because they all would
- 31:27have come on the end of run report for that route whereas be
- 31:32with the other zip. Code, you've got two routes and
- 31:35the PO box. So those will get separated.
- 31:38And then you have the four routes in the other one.
- 31:42Yeah separated. Yeah.
- 31:46And those are those are route. Tagged.
- 31:50So that was just my thing was got to stop to at least or at
- 32:10least during the this survey is when you get the famous bundle,
- 32:15you break it open and the top pieces for you and then
- 32:19everything Elsa's 46 other towns, other people, other towns
- 32:24or carriers in other routes in your office.
- 32:27Yep, you know I've got I got carriers who will do that and
- 32:31then look up the route and then handed off to the carrier until
- 32:35don't don't, don't give that to me, go throw it over in the 3M.
- 32:39Yep. You give you back everything you
- 32:46get credit for it. I would, I would throw it in I
- 32:50would throw it in 3M. That's what I do.
- 32:52I do that anyway. But I would say, especially
- 32:54during this mail survey, you want to do that.
- 32:57Yeah. Because if it happens, you know,
- 33:00if it's my bundle now I'm going to get credit.
- 33:03I'm going to already get credit for all the for all of the flats
- 33:07in that bundle. Yeah.
- 33:09But I don't want the other carrier or carriers to lose
- 33:13credit. For the raw Flats, they're going
- 33:16to get out of it. Right?
- 33:20But all it depends if it was a 5, if it was a 5 digit.
- 33:29Which means that it's not supposed to go to any particular
- 33:34route like on the top of the label where it has the route
- 33:36number, it may just say five digit.
- 33:40Then the clerk should have destroyed.
- 33:49It just means it's But what if it's addressed?
- 33:58What? The P pieces will be addressed.
- 34:01Yeah. So why would they not get credit
- 34:04for for raw Flats these as something you would get credit
- 34:09for all plants? Okay?
- 34:11So that's one thing. If you have the, the top two
- 34:13pieces of yours in the rest of its the other, the rest of the
- 34:17routes in the office, you should be getting the to beat the
- 34:21credit for those two pieces also.
- 34:23Well, no, because it was help you.
- 34:25Get you get credit for the whole bundle.
- 34:27Yes, not if it's a five digit, if it's labeled, if it's
- 34:31labeled, if it's labeled Route, 53.
- 34:36Then I get credit for it. If it's labeled five-digit.
- 34:41Then but they don't have the ability to sort out, which is
- 34:47how many people, how many pieces you have within.
- 34:50I mean they can tell you how many pieces are in the bundle
- 34:54but they can't tell you how many pieces are yours.
- 34:58That's insane. If it's if on the way but the
- 35:01top where your route number is if it says five digit.
- 35:06Your routes not getting credit for it.
- 35:09Because it's sorted. It's for the whole zip code, not
- 35:14a particular route. See the know where I'm coming
- 35:23and I know what Mike saying because and instance yesterday I
- 35:28had the prepackaged bundle of flats, I opened it up.
- 35:32I took the top one off it was for my route and it had it
- 35:36looked just normal as anything else and you know, Route 11 up
- 35:40on the side up there where it is by the address and then their
- 35:45top one was the only one that went to me.
- 35:47Everything else went to three other tones.
- 35:51Well yeah, which is a three-digit.
- 35:55There's there it goes to. I've had whole bundles of mail
- 36:04that didn't belong to our office, but because it said,
- 36:07route for they tossed it in, or out for stuff.
- 36:10Yeah. Right, ours, do the same thing
- 36:16like yesterday I had mine but the rest of it was a different
- 36:28zip code. Not even in my building.
- 36:33So, but yeah, that was You know, I didn't I forgot to look at it
- 36:44but I'm sure which is a 5-digit. So you get like, for him for us,
- 36:50we have a three digit, which is 282.
- 36:54Which is anything that you, there's five digit, which we 282
- 36:58XX. You know, specific zip code and
- 37:02then there's carrier route it. Like I said, I could be wrong,
- 37:07but I'm I'm thinking that if it's if it's carrier routed
- 37:13obviously you're getting credit for it, but if it's a five digit
- 37:15bundle, That means it's supposed to work by the Clarks and sorted
- 37:20out, Clark stop. Which means it's not even though
- 37:23the top on them and that's when you bring it back to them and
- 37:28say not mine and mr. Counter, I needed it Well,
- 37:41hopefully they won't fight us over that, because everything
- 37:44everything I've been hearing everything.
- 37:46I've been hearing is that there. As long as you're making what I
- 37:50heard from my from our station manager is basically that if you
- 37:53have reasonable request that they, he's not going to, he's
- 37:56not going to quibble over it. Well, I can tell you our gr has
- 38:02said every training That headquarters has told that has
- 38:09put down on the pipeline to management.
- 38:13Don't argue with the carrier's, give it to them because it's
- 38:17negligible what they're going to, you know, the effect is
- 38:21negligible. Yeah.
- 38:24One piece of mail to know a couple pieces of mail, a couple
- 38:27seat. For the walk distances is not
- 38:31going to make or break a route, right?
- 38:36Because I think with the I was just talking to someone the
- 38:39other day. With the walk distance.
- 38:44You need. I think it's like 500 for 500
- 38:47feet to get a minute. Yeah, it's it's not it's not a
- 38:53huge amount. What is it?
- 38:55Like, 14 seconds of foot or something?
- 38:57It's not very much. There's no is your 0429.
- 39:03Okay. zero zero four four, two nine 14,000 Four thousandths.
- 39:19Is it a second or a minute? Right?
- 39:22For 1000 of a minute of a minute, right?
- 39:31So that's like I said, over 400 feet is 2.1, 45 minutes.
- 39:45That's over Ruth, the length of a football field.
- 39:48Yeah. Well, what's your take on how
- 39:56things are gonna go? Well, I mean, we've got what for
- 40:00working days before this thing starts.
- 40:02Yeah. Bill's been awful, quiet tonight
- 40:07is everything okay Bill well II think we're getting distracted
- 40:12on the the BS with the yes 99 and all that other stuff and
- 40:16we're not focusing on the fact that a lot of these people are
- 40:20confused by the amount of information that's being
- 40:23provided as well as misinformation on a on a
- 40:28Facebook chat today with the assert rural carrier Associates.
- 40:33Somebody asks About a partial credit.
- 40:36For, you know, you're walking distances.
- 40:39And the thing of it is, it's all or none.
- 40:42There was a young lady. I think Misty put on the, the
- 40:46page, the exact wording I put on there, the wrecks training page
- 40:51and it is, it's all or none and you can get up to five credits a
- 40:56day, you know, as far as you know, for, you know, your mail.
- 41:01So if you're gonna get a hot meal credit is B for everything
- 41:04or nothing. It's not going to be a.
- 41:07We have enough clerks today, but we don't have enough tomorrow
- 41:10and it can be voted on by the carriers in the office, white?
- 41:14Yeah. And voters office to office, but
- 41:17it's all worth noting, folks. You're either going to get it
- 41:20all the time, or you're not going to get it all the time.
- 41:22And if you're not going to get it all the time, then you will
- 41:24be putting them wait, time for them to get the clerk's over to
- 41:27you. You have, we have discrepancies
- 41:31in our office, in regards to the mid sorted.
- 41:33Laughs. Yeah, but you know Kristen said
- 41:36there was a guy 10 feet away while you can throw it to him
- 41:38you know, but that's the safety issue there.
- 41:41So what you throw it, Adam? Well, what else would you do?
- 41:45I mean, you know, if your name is Bill but you know, for us,
- 41:51you know, that they have a knocker said of her by the
- 41:53supervisors desk, which is 158 feet away from my case.
- 41:58So, okay, now we're going to set one up in our area, okay?
- 42:01We're going to get time to that. There is no more 50 foot.
- 42:04Folks. So they are we going to get time
- 42:06for this? Now, everybody currently, what
- 42:10were you guys doing with that? I would say.
- 42:13And when they measure your distance, keep in mind, it's
- 42:16from where you stand in the case in the center.
- 42:19Ah, Kate, not the leaving it, where you are, not at the end.
- 42:36It's from where you stand the case your mail, okay?
- 42:39Yep. The center of your case.
- 42:42So you know you're going to have a knocker there and then you
- 42:45know, it's funny because we have measured to the 3M case which we
- 42:51don't use anymore, but that's okay.
- 42:53You're going to give us the extra 25 feet.
- 42:55We're fine with that, okay? But the thing of it is that
- 43:00there's so much misinformation information that a lot of people
- 43:05are confused as hell. And Rex needs a w in the front
- 43:09of it because I think this is going to be a total wreck.
- 43:12I really do. I did the management has no idea
- 43:16that the supervisor in our office had to get the
- 43:18measurements done by close of business Friday.
- 43:21Well, now you have till next Friday to get it done but
- 43:24somebody in District, wanted it done by this Friday, didn't to
- 43:27make it look good. And you were screwing it up.
- 43:30Like I said she was going to give credit to a guy who walks
- 43:33mail and Parcels, you know, 500 and some feet for the prison
- 43:37every day because it's not that kind of count.
- 43:40That's right lady. It's not that kind of count,
- 43:42it's a survey and that's why we had the miscellaneous calm where
- 43:45you can put an explanation in for that carriers duties of the
- 43:48day. Yeah, that's the, you know, the
- 43:50management is so ill, prepared for this.
- 43:53It's ridiculous. The carriers, who are
- 43:56misinformed Don't know what to do.
- 43:59Don't even do. The six cans every day.
- 44:03It's going to be a clusterfuck of major proportions.
- 44:05It really is. And we've had six months, folks.
- 44:08Six months since September. When they told us, it wasn't
- 44:11going to happen in September to get this shit straight.
- 44:15And again, management. Waited to the last minute, the
- 44:17union, waited to the last minute, the information getting
- 44:21to the carrier's last minute. What they're telling you guys
- 44:25that your training sessions is different from what they're
- 44:27telling us. Us and our training sessions.
- 44:29Because if there's letter bundled lettered mail in a tub
- 44:32of flats, I want them counted as Flats, because we were told
- 44:36everything in the tub is a flat. Yep.
- 44:39Okay. Everything in the hamper is a
- 44:40parcel. I want, everything counted as a
- 44:42parcel. And if you want to dispute that
- 44:47we have our training on video and this is the problem across
- 44:54the board. We have a rule carrier
- 44:57specialist who used to be in our district, who is now based down
- 45:03in Washington. He's National now.
- 45:05Okay, and he's been traveling up and down the East Coast
- 45:08correcting, these things. This is the guys who put 48
- 45:14houses on to AK. Forty eight route, three and a
- 45:18half miles away from the end of the route.
- 45:21And then would have him have that Carrier Drive two and a
- 45:25half miles back to hit 104. Carriage House Development that
- 45:28they passed on the way out to the first house.
- 45:32These are the people were dealing with the same guy.
- 45:37The same guy has one route in our office going past the same
- 45:41mailbox three times. This is the inequity of
- 45:50intelligence that we're dealing with, because the ones who
- 45:56actually do know some stuff, think they know everything.
- 46:00The ones who don't know enough stuff, they're the ones we work
- 46:05for every day. Yeah.
- 46:08And the worst part of it is, I've got new people in my office
- 46:13that that are confused are Cas that are confused about the
- 46:16scans. I've got people who've been
- 46:20there for years, confused about the scans, why?
- 46:22Because they don't pay attention, they don't read their
- 46:24magazines or they're not in the Union.
- 46:28And that is they want to come to me for question, you know,
- 46:30answers about the questions they have.
- 46:33Well folks, all this stuff is online.
- 46:35Yeah, well, I'm not a union member, that's your fault not.
- 46:39Mine said that's it. That's a your problem.
- 46:41Yeah, here. Here Bill.
- 46:43Here's here's something directly to, to your point.
- 46:47Okay. This is Facebook group it, this
- 46:53is in the wrecks, Facebook group and And somebody was saying,
- 46:59post a thing about. Okay.
- 47:00So The letters you pull out of your DPS.
- 47:05Okay? Yoruba mure 3M, your your, your
- 47:11forwards, your markups. All that stuff.
- 47:15You get a piece Cal for every, if you take your DPS to the
- 47:18street, you get a piece count for all of that stuff.
- 47:21Am I? Am I correct?
- 47:24You are correct. Yes.
- 47:25So all of your forwards, all your IA, all your boob, um all
- 47:30of your vacation holds, all your Throwbacks, all your holds on.
- 47:33Yeah everything. Okay.
- 47:36And then and then you get and then of course the the upside
- 47:40down and backwards ones is the Ford one for every for credit.
- 47:45Correct. So there's an argument there's
- 47:47an argument going out with somebody.
- 47:49It's amazing how these conversations will digress.
- 47:52You know the question was if you're if you're off can you
- 47:56commit and observe you know, can come in and observe and that's
- 48:01always that's always been the case and then it got into a
- 48:04conversation about One guy saying that, no, you don't get
- 48:10credit for markups. And so, yes, you do.
- 48:13It's a piece credit. I didn't say it, but I'm like
- 48:20you have one guy saying, no, you know, it's just for, it's just
- 48:23for 3M mail and some snow you get for your markups to.
- 48:27It said, no, you know, and so, you know, the typical Facebook
- 48:29argument so you get a piece count for any GPS or Yeah, which
- 48:38is anything that your night, whatever.
- 48:40We understand that we understand, okay?
- 48:43We understand anybody? If it's a DPS DPS are doesn't
- 48:49matter what if titled as okay? Yeah.
- 48:54That that you keep the conversation simple.
- 48:56So that people don't try to remember every freaking thing if
- 49:01it's in the DPS and it doesn't belong there.
- 49:03It's an error. Okay.
- 49:06Yep. Go ahead, Mike.
- 49:11Go ahead. No, I'm just saying because you
- 49:14were making the point that, you know, people are either getting
- 49:18different information in different places and it was
- 49:22just, I just found something that was making a was just, you
- 49:27know, making your point. Yeah.
- 49:30So in the thing, the thing of it is that, you know, I have an ATR
- 49:38who was on the, on the Ders phone talking to me on Thursday
- 49:43about how many times he goes back to withdraw male.
- 49:46And he's arguing, I said, don't worry about it.
- 49:48Tim, I have to take it's taken care of, don't worry 10, that's
- 49:50taking care, but he wanted to press the point and I said, Tim,
- 49:54don't worry about it. And then I hear.
- 49:57Oh and then I explained to him an indifferent phone call later
- 50:01on that you get up to five withdrawals.
- 50:05Oh okay, I didn't know what you were talking about it.
- 50:08It's in the rich program that you've attended that you've been
- 50:12dealing with the district for a year now.
- 50:15And you didn't know that for god sakes.
- 50:20If he doesn't know it, how the hell's the ordinary person's
- 50:23going to know it? Yeah, well I I know it post
- 50:27you're talking about in that group and this whole argument I
- 50:31there's an office that doesn't even want RCA's doing any type
- 50:37of Anything, what did she say? I can't because they said
- 50:43something about the RCA's and working their day.
- 50:47She says they're working the regulars.
- 50:50They shouldn't be putting things in Obama or markup, leave it for
- 50:53Carrier review. The regular knows who is
- 50:55forwarded move left. No forward, UTF.
- 50:58Etc. That is all and there was
- 51:00somebody who said that RCA's aren't allowed to do any of that
- 51:04there for ya. Do you want a new RCA forwarding
- 51:07a returning mail when they have no idea?
- 51:09Subs are not off Allowed to return her forward, an email in
- 51:11our office for the first year. What the hell?
- 51:17Yeah. Where the hell do you read that
- 51:19one at books? You know.
- 51:21Why. Wait, why?
- 51:22How is it RCA? How is that person supposed to
- 51:25learn if they're not allowed to do it?
- 51:29I'm sorry. I guess being a veteran RCA and
- 51:32I do say a veteran because it's, you know, I'm 8 years and
- 51:34counting right now. I know some of the stuff better
- 51:37than some of my long-term regulars in my office.
- 51:41I will tell you I will tell you this from my office.
- 51:46I have I have regular carriers who some of my fellow regular
- 51:51carriers. If I basically say I just I
- 51:54don't know any of the names on my route.
- 51:56I just delivered to the address and that's all they do.
- 51:59They don't read any of the names and I'm like so what do you do
- 52:03about forwards? Oh, well, they throw it back to
- 52:06me and say they don't live here that I deal with it.
- 52:08Like, that's not how I was trained.
- 52:13No meeting. I mean, I may not let me finish
- 52:18real quick, Kristin. Yeah, I hate you not know every
- 52:21I may not know every name on my route, but I recognized, I can
- 52:25recognize the ones that you know.
- 52:28God, I've never seen this name in this Associated, by CB you
- 52:33and it's like, I've never seen this name at this.
- 52:35Be you and I know those wants and I know I know quite a few.
- 52:40I would say, I know maybe 90% but, And then I just play well
- 52:47when in doubt deliver and they'll tell me if they don't,
- 52:50you know, that's what I did that.
- 52:51Like, most of the first year, especially at Christmas.
- 52:56So anyway, go ahead Kristin, I'm sorry.
- 52:57Yeah, no, no. I'm just saying, you know, being
- 53:01a veteran RCA and having run many routes and multiple
- 53:06offices. But, you know, in the last four
- 53:10going at four and a half years in the office, I'm in now, and
- 53:13knowing all six routes, I mean, great 07 technically.
- 53:19But Grant, you I know, Two of them, I don't know, as well as I
- 53:24know the rest of them because I've only been running those
- 53:26for, like, the last year, six months to a year.
- 53:30But the rest of them, I mean, I know who forwards out, you know,
- 53:32about what time they usually forward out for the winter, my
- 53:35the seasonals, and when they come back and I, you know, a lot
- 53:40of that comes with, you know, being around for a while, but if
- 53:44you don't train, the RCA is into recognizing forward.
- 53:52Some you don't Mark your case properly for forwards and holds.
- 53:57Then how are they going to learn?
- 54:00Exactly. That's And I have gone through
- 54:05and corrected regulars, you know, if I know I have a newer
- 54:10newer RCA that's running around. In that case doesn't have the
- 54:14forwards Mark properly because, you know, they haven't had a sub
- 54:16in forever and I know that route like the back of my hand and who
- 54:19leaves win and who's on vacation.
- 54:22So I can I know what does it, or how it works.
- 54:26But if I know that, you know, I got a new RCA coming in and
- 54:29learning that route, I'm going to make sure that those cases
- 54:31are properly marked with those that the regular forgot to put
- 54:34up. You know, it's I have got one
- 54:38regular who hardly marks half her forwards and stuff, but I
- 54:42know they're forward it out because I know who the seasonals
- 54:45are. And yeah, it's just, you gotta
- 54:50train, and that comes back down to training.
- 54:54But yeah, there's a lot of people are going to get wake up
- 54:56calls that are doing things the way they're supposed to be doing
- 54:59them. When the new evaluations come
- 55:04down. Let me give you a little story
- 55:10from Saturday said they had 22 people shadowing.
- 55:14Including a guy who's 70 years old didn't realize how hard we
- 55:18work. Okay he tells he tells the
- 55:23carrier he's driving with. He says You know, you take all
- 55:27these boxes up to the door. He says, is everybody supposed
- 55:30to do that? She goes, oh, yeah.
- 55:31Here's what my carrier, doesn't she?
- 55:33And she said, well must be a city carry her, he goes, no,
- 55:37it's a rural carrier, she goes. Are you sure he goes into short
- 55:40little black guy and he said he can't hear, he says them.
- 55:44Well, where do you live? And he says, such and such in
- 55:46that street and she goes, oh, I know that carrier and she is.
- 55:52Well, why does he rubberbands? Small ones to the mailbox and
- 55:55throw the big. Ends at the Post-it don't train
- 56:00them right? They'll never learn folks.
- 56:02Exactly. Exactly.
- 56:05You know I mean it's not hard you're going to get get out of
- 56:09your RCA that you're training for your route.
- 56:11What you put into training them? Yes, exactly.
- 56:16And if you do a shit job, you'll get a shit job.
- 56:19And guess what? That'll be reflected back on
- 56:22your damn count. Mini nail survey.
- 56:26Is the fact that they're going to put as much effort into it as
- 56:28you do? Exactly.
- 56:31Exactly. Maybe it's good, then that my
- 56:36sub my last RCA transferred to another office.
- 56:39So I'll probably be working all six days.
- 56:41Anyway, I am because I'm actually off the first and
- 56:46second weekends of March. So I'm off the second.
- 56:53I'm actually off that middle weekend during count but I'm not
- 56:58overly worried about it. I hope that's being the steward.
- 57:03I won't be there but, you know, I'm not really worried about my
- 57:08Ox row. I did have to put a carrier
- 57:11alert marker in one of my seasonal forward boxes because
- 57:16for some reason, he didn't pay attention to the case that it
- 57:18was a forward, even though it's clearly marked a forward.
- 57:22And he delivered medication to the box.
- 57:26And so as I am on the was getting near to the last box on
- 57:29the route supervisor calls me and says, hey sessions, not to
- 57:33address forward, right? I said, yeah, she's I think he
- 57:36delivered meds there yesterday and it's all the way up back
- 57:40towards the beginning of the rout.
- 57:43I'm like, all right. I'll turn around and go grab it.
- 57:47And so when I ran up the next day, I had to put a carrier
- 57:49alert card in that box just because You know, she's gone
- 57:54until April or May you know she wants her meds forwarded to,
- 57:58where she's at. Yeah.
- 58:04I don't know why it right, obviously she called and saw
- 58:08that they were delivered and that forwarded so yeah, but
- 58:14yeah, that comes into To training, solve that problem.
- 58:21I have one customer I guess or when I'm off.
- 58:25They're just swinging. Now, I have one customer
- 58:28whenever they go on over, which is Fairly often he started using
- 58:33electrical tape and taping like, if you open the door, the inside
- 58:37of the box of tapes shut and he has his copy of the whole guard
- 58:44sitting there taped up, so you can't even bring anything in
- 58:48there. Well, I've got I've got carriers
- 58:53that do things. It to their own.
- 58:56I've got one that they cut the bottom off the the yellow hole
- 59:00card in the office. Because for where we put our
- 59:02hold mail, it sets in the little slot where the whole card is
- 59:05easier, way ours are set up, which we all hate anyways, but
- 59:10besides the point, she puts she writes, hold on it, and the
- 59:15backside of it and she sticks it in that box.
- 59:17So if there is somebody else that's running it, you know,
- 59:20they open that box and they see that it is on hold, or she puts
- 59:24a Yellow or bright neon yellow poster board that she cut down
- 59:29into like parcel marker size for her forwards in the Box.
- 59:36I got the other one who does carrier alert markers in all her
- 59:40forwards and her vacant boxes, she actually went through and
- 59:45put Blue stickers on the outside of the vacant boxes that way you
- 59:49see it when you're on the road. You know so well, we've got a
- 59:54few of those that. Do you do go above and beyond
- 59:56the little extra but I'm talking like I have at my apartment
- 1:00:03complex in the CPU. the red baking cards for the, for the
- 1:00:11new customer fill out, you know, saying what their name is, and
- 1:00:15when they moved in, I have those in all the boxes that I don't
- 1:00:21deliver mail to And I'll come back sometimes after being off a
- 1:00:28day and males. This what is one on top of it?
- 1:00:32Oh yeah and I will when I put them in, I fold it.
- 1:00:38So the the small section it says bacon is Is, you know that's
- 1:00:44popped up. Inside the Box.
- 1:00:48Well, yeah. Yeah, I is it's going to be
- 1:01:00interesting to see how evaluations will come out.
- 1:01:05Like I said, for those that aren't like it has been said, no
- 1:01:08not necessary that I said. But I know like Bill said, Josh
- 1:01:11might we've all said it that, you know, if you're not doing
- 1:01:14any more than the six required scans, you're not getting that
- 1:01:18credit for that extra stuff. You do out there those extra
- 1:01:20trips to the doors. I know I'm the one that's guilty
- 1:01:23at always forgets about the postage due scan.
- 1:01:26Been trying to remember that one because we get quite a few of
- 1:01:28those in our office actually um, you know it those little things
- 1:01:34and when you're training RCA's on that I get the new ones are
- 1:01:38going to miss a lot of the extra ones.
- 1:01:41But you know I carry I said I carry all the routes in the
- 1:01:44office so I make you know, I try to make sure that I get all
- 1:01:48those extra ones in as much as possible.
- 1:01:51It's, you know that's my pay to, you know, the weather lets and I
- 1:01:56like you know, if I'm not pushing 40 hours that week which
- 1:02:03I can't tell you, the last time I was under 40 hours in a week,
- 1:02:08you know I that's my pay to is as much it is the regulars that
- 1:02:14that's that's the RCA's pay you you know, and like Bill said,
- 1:02:20last week or the week before, If you don't know, concentrate on
- 1:02:25three or four, learn it and then once you get those three or four
- 1:02:29down pat and you know, and learn them, and what they're for you
- 1:02:32is actually are using them. Add another two or three and
- 1:02:37then add another 2 or 3. But I really, I think the
- 1:02:41immigrants the unscalable parcel and the trips to the door are
- 1:02:47the big big to right there. yeah, they're going to be the
- 1:02:51most common so as I can tell As I keep saying the one I have the
- 1:03:00most trouble with believe it or not, is depart to Route?
- 1:03:05I gotta 21. I got a two-mile dead head to
- 1:03:08the, I got a two-mile dead head to the start of my route, for my
- 1:03:11office. And the number of times, I've
- 1:03:14been out of the office driveway on the road, getting ready to
- 1:03:19make deterrence crap. I forgot to do the, I forgot to
- 1:03:22do. I forgot to do R8.
- 1:03:26Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:03:26That's the other thing. It's all right and right?
- 1:03:30That time on the 4240 and out the door, I guess.
- 1:03:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:03:35Cuz I was AI. I do.
- 1:03:38I don't miss that one because I do.
- 1:03:41I start my load, I am my load and then once I get myself
- 1:03:45situated, I do that. And then going to scan and scan
- 1:03:50my mileage as I'm walking to the truck for the reason because I
- 1:03:56don't want to have to go to scan, come out of scan, go back
- 1:04:00to her world. Enter these come out of that and
- 1:04:06then go back into scan. Well, most of our trucks were
- 1:04:09exception. I think of one all have a depart
- 1:04:12to Route scan, a barcode actually in the truck exam with
- 1:04:16a return to delivery unit. Every truck has a return to
- 1:04:19delivery units can in the truck. So that part, you know, that's
- 1:04:24easy. You know like I said I hit that
- 1:04:25depart to Route button, I write the time down on the 4240 and
- 1:04:30then when I get to the truck, that's when I scan the truck.
- 1:04:33Fuck. And then when I get back, I hit
- 1:04:35the return to unit and then I do the return to delivery trucks
- 1:04:42can. Now, do you to return to
- 1:04:48delivery unit first? Yes.
- 1:04:50Yes, yes. Yeah.
- 1:04:53Then you do the return to unit for the mileage.
- 1:04:55Yep. Yep.
- 1:04:56That's what I do. Yeah.
- 1:04:59People were doing that in our office incorrectly.
- 1:05:01They were, they were dry. Iving up to the dock and and
- 1:05:04dismounting. You putting their collection
- 1:05:06mail up there and everything and then driving to back to the
- 1:05:09parking place and then hitting the return.
- 1:05:11The DU I said no, I'm sorry, soon as you as soon as you park
- 1:05:29it, you hit return to you. That's when your clock starts.
- 1:05:36Yeah. And when I'm POV soon, as I pull
- 1:05:38into the lot and park my car, that's when I hit the return to
- 1:05:42D you before. I even get out of the car to get
- 1:05:47equipment and return mail and everything else out of it.
- 1:05:51Yeah, well, yeah. And like I said, I've explained
- 1:05:54this for five times, you know, two people and then an hour
- 1:05:58later, somebody will come by and ask which one do we hit right in
- 1:06:03your face? That's where Yeah, I get it
- 1:06:07dumbass. I just got to make sure that,
- 1:06:11you know, I A lot of times if I have a lot to bring in or or
- 1:06:15something else is going on or or whatever.
- 1:06:18You know, and I hit that return to unit and I walk in shit.
- 1:06:21What time did I hit return to unit?
- 1:06:23So I don't remember it, you know?
- 1:06:25And I've been like, hey, I forgot what time I hit return to
- 1:06:28unit and usually my supervisor whoever sitting at the desk that
- 1:06:32day is like, that's alright, I'll look it up for you.
- 1:06:35Cool. But yeah it's returned to unit
- 1:06:39and then the trucks can. Well, that's why everybody ought
- 1:06:43to be a smoker. Yeah.
- 1:06:45Because well because when I returned to D you I told my
- 1:06:49cigarette pack up and I write the time on it.
- 1:06:52Look downright, the mileage on, okay.
- 1:06:56But hey, when I get home from this, when I get home, I'll say,
- 1:07:00hey hon. I've been given permission to
- 1:07:02start smoking again. Scratch pad to write stuff down.
- 1:07:07Bill may he said I can do this. It's authorized by a local
- 1:07:11Steward. Yeah.
- 1:07:12Authorized it's not my local Steward but that doesn't matter
- 1:07:16that. We don't know.
- 1:07:17You don't say that. You just say egg local, a local
- 1:07:20Stewart. So yeah.
- 1:07:25And I will tell you how well that will go over the term.
- 1:07:29Does the term lead balloon? Describe it?
- 1:07:32Well enough. What you're saying is, if you're
- 1:07:37not here next Sunday, don't be upset.
- 1:07:39Don't be surprised. The first thing she'll say, is,
- 1:07:43why you writing in Rolling Papers?
- 1:07:47Well, because my other local Steward said that, I know Mike
- 1:08:00is driving the bus tonight at and Bill and I are the speed
- 1:08:06bumps. Oh God tonight.
- 1:08:20But no. Yeah.
- 1:08:21It's like I said, I we have the depart to row and and return to
- 1:08:27unit trucks. Get the mileage scans are
- 1:08:30actually the barcodes are in our truck so that helps unless we're
- 1:08:34having a vmf vehicle and then I have to write that shit on my
- 1:08:37hand. So I remember it, when I scan it
- 1:08:40at the door when I'm Going in. But yeah, well ours is on the on
- 1:08:50the cork board, which is written inside The Swinging Doors, but
- 1:08:54my truck is the second closest to the door.
- 1:08:57So So, what? I remember that mileage for 30
- 1:09:16seconds. I'm usually not this listen to
- 1:09:26this podcast, but whatever I'm listening to is usually still in
- 1:09:31my in my ear as I'm walking in the door.
- 1:09:34So I don't technically normally remember that many numbers all
- 1:09:39at once. But like I said, luckily, our
- 1:09:41scans are in our trucks. Which they should be.
- 1:09:46I mean, it makes so much more sense.
- 1:09:49But yeah, so that their Yugo people have them print off the
- 1:09:53truck scan codes and put them inside the door and so you can
- 1:09:57just scan it on your when you get in the truck on your way out
- 1:10:00to the route makes it so much easier.
- 1:10:04Sure, they put that with the flip book of the of the wreck
- 1:10:06scans that we should have with them.
- 1:10:08No II. Don't even get where some of
- 1:10:12these offices are actually passing them out where I don't
- 1:10:19have carriers for saying this works and I'm like, I don't
- 1:10:23know. Anybody can create a barcode to,
- 1:10:26to connect it to anything. I used to own a business, I used
- 1:10:29to make barcodes all the time for, you know, to scan for the
- 1:10:36crap of that I sold. But it's yeah, you know, it's
- 1:10:43not that difficult to his Escape our and then whatever you're
- 1:10:45looking for, Or and if it's something you use all the time.
- 1:10:48Usually you remember what the hotkey is for it?
- 1:10:54All right. Which doesn't help either way.
- 1:11:43So, anything else we want to discuss tonight?
- 1:11:45Obviously, we're not talking about last weekend's football
- 1:11:47game, sorry Bill. No, no, we're not.
- 1:12:00I need a drink, make it a double, anything else we want to
- 1:12:09start winding down for the night.
- 1:12:12Why always start winding down? I think we've been on for about
- 1:12:14an hour. Yes, we have and Mike has a long
- 1:12:17day tomorrow. Are you?
- 1:12:20You do? I'm going to send you a text
- 1:12:22message when we get off here Mike about something.
- 1:12:24So just a heads up. Okay.
- 1:12:27Yeah you know you'll understand why I send it to you privately.
- 1:12:32Okay but on that note Mike don't you go ahead and give us your
- 1:12:39final commentary for the evening.
- 1:12:42Oh, my final comments for tonight.
- 1:12:44Are there? With this new system.
- 1:12:49Well, here's here's my comment and I've made this before.
- 1:12:52I just think that at this point, where we are with this RX, we
- 1:12:59just gotta rip the Band-Aid off and get started with it.
- 1:13:03If we wait for this, if we wait for everything to be resolved
- 1:13:07and everything to be perfect will be waiting.
- 1:13:09Another 10 years, we need to, we've been waiting this long.
- 1:13:14We've carriers have been complaining about Out the old
- 1:13:18count system for as long as I've been at the post office.
- 1:13:22The nine years, I've been at the post office.
- 1:13:24I've heard about this engineering study since I
- 1:13:26started and how it was supposed to be better.
- 1:13:31We just, we got to pick a, we got to pick a stepping off
- 1:13:34point, that stepping off point is February 25th.
- 1:13:40If you haven't educated yourself, if you refuse to
- 1:13:43educate yourself on this, that it then you have no one to
- 1:13:46blame. For your for a bad for a bad
- 1:13:50evaluation than yourself. But we got to start sometime.
- 1:13:55And I think the, the good thing about this system is that we at
- 1:14:01least initially we have six months to, if it's bad.
- 1:14:05Now, you can correct this stuff and start building back up,
- 1:14:08quickly, six months, it will be a little better and then another
- 1:14:12year, it should be, it should be better.
- 1:14:16But We got to do it. So let's get started.
- 1:14:20Now if you haven't had a chick, if you haven't been to your
- 1:14:25state or districts, Zoom training or whatever, training,
- 1:14:30they're offering on the mail survey.
- 1:14:32Go get it done, ask your questions.
- 1:14:36The first Zoom meeting. We had four for our state, you
- 1:14:40know, it was supposed to be two hours.
- 1:14:42It went almost three. The the the are stewards were
- 1:14:47willing to answer questions. They were taking questions from
- 1:14:51the zoom call and then there were two or three other adrs who
- 1:14:56are answering direct questions in the chat.
- 1:14:58So if your District your state is doing that to do this get
- 1:15:03yourself educated so you can get your route properly evaluated
- 1:15:10Just Josh, you may take me now. Take the podium.
- 1:15:18Over to say follow, you know, famous with what Mike was
- 1:15:24saying. North Carolina has has done two
- 1:15:28of three of those who meetings. The first one had 260, some
- 1:15:33people on it, it was scheduled 729, the Dr. Took the very last
- 1:15:38question at 10:40 the. Second one I had to jump out
- 1:15:46before it was over. And there was over 100 people in
- 1:15:52that one, I didn't get it. I don't remember exactly what
- 1:15:55the number was. And they were doing in person
- 1:16:01ones also in different areas of the state or district for people
- 1:16:07that wanted to go face-to-face. If you've been doing your scans,
- 1:16:15keep it up. If you find out that there's a
- 1:16:18scan that you haven't been doing that, you should have been doing
- 1:16:21because you didn't realize it. Well unfortunately it's too late
- 1:16:25now but like Mike said in six months you'll recoup some of
- 1:16:28that this time. Next year, you get to complete
- 1:16:33your Redemption on that. Try and have a good week and
- 1:16:42hopefully everyone will pair well with the survey results.
- 1:16:50Bill, it's your turn. Yeah, my turn.
- 1:16:54Oh, me. Me.
- 1:16:56It's my turn. Oh my God.
- 1:16:58I love it, then. Mike is yours.
- 1:17:02No, I'm not. No, Mike, Mike, Mike Mike,
- 1:17:10you're all so naughty they're not going to be able to handle
- 1:17:16us at National look forward to it.
- 1:17:35Might drag. Don't worry about what's
- 1:17:37happening today, tomorrow. Next week, the week after the
- 1:17:40mail volumes, the parcel volumes and it's all going to average
- 1:17:43out over a period of time. Then it's adjusted again and
- 1:17:48then it's get to get it's adjusted in another six months.
- 1:17:50The it's it's my view that we're going to drop approximately
- 1:17:55three to four hours on some of the overburden routes, that's my
- 1:17:59thought. But, you know, I just because I
- 1:18:00was right before, doesn't mean? I'm going to be right again,
- 1:18:03okay. Just educate yourselves, folks.
- 1:18:07Go on the national website, do your homework with Rex, quit
- 1:18:12asking questions where you can get it, stop wasting my time and
- 1:18:17do something on your own. Okay, I hate enabling people who
- 1:18:21don't take the time and effort to protect their job and their
- 1:18:24paycheck. Remember, if it doesn't go in
- 1:18:28the scanner, it doesn't go in your wallet or your purse.
- 1:18:34Do your job. Period.
- 1:18:36Do it to the best of your ability RCA's train them up
- 1:18:41because it's their paycheck to and explain that to them.
- 1:18:45If you screw up my paycheck, I'ma bust you in the mouth.
- 1:18:49Well, can you say that? Hey, I can say, I'm going, I'm
- 1:18:53going to ask you like and say, hey, this is my my time, okay,
- 1:18:58back off, just take it off. Property off the clock.
- 1:19:03Yes, you know. No, I want everybody to see it
- 1:19:07anyway explain to them the importance of this, okay?
- 1:19:15I mean we have enough lazy regulars, we don't need any more
- 1:19:18lazy RCA's and what the, what you do and putting up the out,
- 1:19:23putting in the effort of training them, I put it on to
- 1:19:25our general post, how I use my labels on my case, that the
- 1:19:29train them on what streets and what shelf and that that that
- 1:19:32that that the better you train them, the better.
- 1:19:35After you have a future RCA, okay, for your route, for any
- 1:19:41route that will help you out and treat them with respect.
- 1:19:44Okay. Because they get stepped on
- 1:19:47Enough by management. They don't need us stepping on
- 1:19:50them too but train them up. You know, I want everybody, you
- 1:19:54know, go out there. We have our Rex meeting tomorrow
- 1:19:58night and I expect it to run long just like everybody else's.
- 1:20:03But books, get on the damn thing, learn something protect
- 1:20:07your job, protect your income detect your future, you know,
- 1:20:10I've got a year and two months left basically before I retire.
- 1:20:14So you know I can just be a blow in the wind but I'm not like
- 1:20:19that. So if I'm willing to put the
- 1:20:22effort in, then you want to be willing to put the effort in
- 1:20:26because many of these people will be under the podcast and
- 1:20:30listening. You have a future, okay?
- 1:20:33Okay, so do something. Protect that investment.
- 1:20:36Go out there. Have a good week, be safe.
- 1:20:39Remember your most important delivery today and when in
- 1:20:42doubt, file a grievance Thank you Bill.
- 1:20:48You know I can repeat what everybody is just said but I'm
- 1:20:52not going to and it's one of those non lazy RCA's you know?
- 1:20:58And I say that I hold many hats. You know I've been an RCA for
- 1:21:01just over eight years. I'm a local Steward, my big
- 1:21:04facilitator, OJT rage OJ. I where the hell you call it
- 1:21:08anymore? You know, this stuff is
- 1:21:12important. This is our job.
- 1:21:13This is our paycheck as much as it is, the regular.
- 1:21:17And educate yourself as much as possible.
- 1:21:22Like I said, it's all out there. It's on the Union website,
- 1:21:26there's other form boards that has the information on, you
- 1:21:31know, it's there. It's within reach for everybody.
- 1:21:36And yeah, I mean, do what you have to do for your own
- 1:21:40paycheck? That's exactly what it boils
- 1:21:44down to is this is our pay. So on that note guys, we're
- 1:21:49going to wrap it up tonight. We should be back next weekend
- 1:21:54and everybody have a good one.
