- 0:07I'm Kelly Siegel, and this is Harder Than Life, a podcast about self-love, self-awareness, business, and health. We tell outrageous stories and boil everything down to simple, practical advice you can start using today. Let's get living. Yo, HTL Nation, it's your boy, Kelly Siegel, back with another episode of the Harder Than Life podcast where we don't just talk about success, we build it brick by brick with grit, heart,
- 0:36unrelenting discipline this is your place to level up to transform from just getting by to living a life so full of purpose and joy it'll make people stop and stare today we're diving deep into something that flipped my entire world upside down
- 0:56intentional living. Now I know what you're thinking, Kelly, intentional living sounds like just some soft woo-woo nonsense. Trust me, I get it. I used to roll my eyes at that kind of talk too. But hear me out, there's nothing soft about choosing to live every single day with purpose, clarity, and fire in your soul. Intentional living,
- 1:22is the secret sauce behind my transformation from a guy chasing empty wins to someone who's genuinely happier than life. If you're feeling stuck, like you're running on a hamster wheel or wondering why your big wins still leave you empty, this episode is a wake up call.
- 1:40I'm laying out the exact blueprint I used to break from the trap and build a life of unshakable happiness, massive impact, and true fulfillment. We're talking real, raw, and actionable steps to take control of your life and make it extraordinary. So buckle up, HDL Nation. Let's declare war on mediocrity and get to work. All right, let's cut through the fluff and get to the core of what intentional living really means.
- 2:09It's not about having a perfect plan or controlling every little detail of your life. It's about waking up every day and choosing with radical clarity who you want to be, what you stand for, and how you're going to show up in the world. It's about aligning every decision, big or small, with your deepest values and your biggest dreams.
- 2:35Too many of us, and I was guilty of this for years, drift through life on autopilot. We chase the next paycheck, the next promotion, the next shiny thing that society tells us we need. But here's the cold, hard truth. That chase will leave you empty and hollow. I had it all. Money rolling in like thriving IT cybersecurity company with national technology management.
- 3:05fancy cars, the whole deal. On paper, I was winning. But inside, I was lost, disconnected, chasing external validation like it would fill the void in my heart. Spoiler alert, it didn't. That's when I realized intentional living is the antidote to the emptiness. It's about asking yourself tough questions. Am I building a life that
- 3:35lights me up or am I just checking the boxes? It's about making choices that align with your purpose, not just your bank account. It's about saying, this is who I am. This is what I value. And every step I take is going to reflect that. That is harder than life.
- 4:00When I started living intentionally, everything changed. I stopped chasing what the world told me I should want and started building a life that felt authentic, purposeful, and mine. And let me tell you, Heart of Life Nation, that's when the real magic happens. When you stop drifting and you start designing your life with intention and boom, great things happen.
- 4:27Let's get real and raw for a minute. Picture this. It's the pandemic lockdown, and I'm standing in my bathroom staring at my reflection. On the outside, I'm a jacked, successful CEO with a booming business and a big social media following. But inside, I'm a mess. I'm numbing myself with alcohol, stuck in toxic relationships, and chasing wins that don't even matter to me.
- 4:54I was harder than life, sure, but I wasn't happier than life. That moment in the mirror was my breaking point. I asked myself, Kelly, who do you wanna be? What kind of life do you wanna live? What's your real purpose? Those questions hit me like a freight train and I knew I had to get intentional about my choices. I will admit, I was scared. So I went to war with myself. When I'm scared, I act.
- 5:23That is a nervous reaction of mine. So I went to war with myself, not against myself, but for myself, specifically my future self who I could see extremely vividly. I started building intentional daily routines, 10 minutes of meditation to clear my mind, journaling to uncover my triggers, gratitude to shift my perspective, reading to feed my mind and soul. And I was like, I don't know.
- 5:54and crushing it in the gym to build my physical foundation as well as resilience. They say it can't be done, I'm gonna show them they're wrong. These weren't just habits. They were deliberate choices to become the man I knew I was meant to be. The man you see before you right now. So the results, mind blowing.
- 6:20My happiness didn't come from more money or more followers. It came from aligning every choice with my core values, integrity, discipline, authenticity, and radical accountability. I stopped drinking, drugs, not because I had to, but because I chose to. I started leading my team at National Technology Management with clarity and purpose, not just hustle. I built the Heart of the Life brand,
- 6:48by sharing my story authentically, and it resonated with thousands of you in the Heart of the Life Nation. This wasn't overnight transformation, and nobody says it's gonna be easy. It was a daily grind, a daily choice to live with intention. And let me tell you, Heart of the Life Nation, the grind led me to peace, clarity, and freedom I never thought was possible.
- 7:13I went from disconnected and empty to happier than life and you can too. Now let's get to the meat of it. The three pillars of intentional living that will set your life on fire and lead you to lasting happiness. These are non-negotiables I live by and they're your blueprint for transformation. Pillar number one, clarity of purpose. You got to know your why. Why?
- 7:41Without a clear purpose, you're just wandering through life hoping something sticks. For me, my purpose crystallized during the pandemic. I'm here to lead, inspire, educate, and motivate others to break through their limits and live happier than life. Every decision I make, whether it's a workout, a podcast episode, or a business move, line up with that purpose.
- 8:07Take a second right now and ask yourself, what's my purpose? What am I living for? Write it down. Actually, open your phone and put it in your notes. Share it with someone you can trust. You can share it right out of the notes. Revisit it. Let it be your North Star. When you're clear on your why, every choice becomes easier and happiness becomes a byproduct of living in alignment with it.
- 8:37Pillar number two, daily intentional habits. Intentional living isn't a one and done deal. It's built through small, consistent actions every single day. My rituals, meditation, journaling, gratitude, reading 10 pages, and hitting the gym are my non-negotiables. They're not just habits.
- 9:00They're deliberate steps towards becoming the best version of myself. Start small though. Pick one. Intentional habit today. Maybe it's 10 minutes of meditation to clear your mind. I know what you're saying, Kelly. I've never done it before. There are several guided meditations you can get for nominal. Get on YouTube and get them for free. 10 minutes. I have not missed a day of meditation in 2025. Okay.
- 9:26telling you this stuff works, but maybe it's journaling to uncover what's holding you back. Maybe it's a 30 minute workout to build your physical foundation and clear your mind. Commit to something, one thing for 30 days and watch how it compounds.
- 9:45Notice, I said 30 days. I didn't say 20 where you do five days a week. If you're gonna work, if you pick working out, work out for 30 straight days. Your body doesn't need rest. You'll be okay for 30 days, believe me. So commit to it for 30 days, watch how it compounds, and these small choices add up to massive transformation. Pro tip, if you only pick one, I'm just being nice to you guys, be completely blunt. The second 30 days add another one. The third 30 days add another one.
- 10:15By 90 days, have a stack of habits that are winning. And I'm telling you, by the next 90 days, you will see massive progress. So this is the old take action before you're ready and progress over perfection.
- 10:32Guys, this stuff works. The third pillar is radical alignment. This is where the rubber meets the road, people. Every part of your life, your relationships, your career, your health, and your mindset needs to be in alignment with your purpose and your values. If something's out of sync, it's like driving with a flat tire. You'll never reach your full potential. Or in this case, full speed.
- 10:57Every morning I ask myself, is what I'm doing today moving me closer to who I want to be? If the answer is no, I cut it out. That's what I call eliminating the noise and chasing my signal. Toxic relationships, gone. Habits that drain my energy, people that drain my energy, eliminated. Opportunities that don't align with my purpose, passed on.
- 11:23When your life is in radical alignment, you feel lighter, stronger, and more joyful. Perhaps maybe you speak a little louder. I've got an extra octave in my voice today, and I hope you guys feel it because this one is personal. That's the power of living intentionally. Real-life examples of intentional living create massive results.
- 11:47Let's make this real with three game-changing examples from my own life that show how intentional living creates massive results. These aren't just stories. They're proof that what I'm saying to you works. Work works, people. The harder you work, the luckier you get, the more consistent you are, the more courage you get, and the more happier you get.
- 12:11Example one, I'm gonna choose the one I've talked about in everything and it's choosing sobriety. It's choosing, really, I don't even choose, I choose not to drink. Quitting alcohol was one of the most intentional decisions I've ever made. I realized it wasn't just about the drinking. It was about the fact that alcohol was misaligned with who I wanted to be. Clearheaded, disciplined, and fully present. When I made the intentional choice to quit alcohol, my clarity skyrocketed.
- 12:38Boy, did I get flooded with a lot of emotions and a lot of other things. But that's progress. My energy went through the roof. My relationships deepened. My emotions felt better. And my happiness, it hit levels I didn't even know existed. Man, this small tweak. Whether you have one drink a week, two a day, this is a game changer. There's not a single...
- 13:06Study that says alcohol helps you in any way forget that old adage that a glass of wine a day is good for your heart that it's not true It's been debunked many many times Example two
- 13:19my transforming leadership at my company, National Technology Management. I'm not even gonna get into the point of the profit increase, the revenue boost, the people, the morale. I'm just gonna go right back to the point of me releasing some control, which I could have never done.
- 13:40I used to be the guy closing every deal, hustling 24 seven. I believed if I was, I needed to be the hardest worker in the room, but I made an intentional choice to step back and become a visionary leader instead of just the company salesperson. I focused on empowering my team. I still focus on this. Family is a core value at NTM and I, a definition of leader is going first.
- 14:08So I aligned our mission with our values and created a culture of excellence. Notice I didn't say profession. Perfection is unattainable. Excellence is achievable. The result, NTM exploded. More revenue, happier clients. This is what happens when you lead with intention. It clears up all the confusion of what's going on in life.
- 14:31Example number three, building the harder than life nation. The harder life brand wasn't some master plan I cooked up in a boardroom. It was born from an intentional choice to be vulnerable and share my story. Once and all. I literally just grabbed my phone and started recording videos.
- 14:50and I posted them and I would get yelled at by my lawyers, my handlers and everybody, they said, don't do that stuff. But I kept with it because it was my truth. It was real, it was raw, it was authentic. By being authentic about these struggles, my choice to not drink, my childhood trauma, and my journey to happiness, I connected with thousands of you in the Heart of the Life Nation.
- 15:13That intentional vulnerability built a community of warriors who are changing their lives and inspiring each other every day makes my heart warm. We've only just begun to. These examples that I've shared with you aren't just about me. They're about what's possible when you live with intention. When you align your choices with your purpose. You don't just change your life. You change the lives of everyone around you.
- 15:40How can you start living intentionally today? I'm so glad you asked. This isn't just a podcast, it's a call to action. I'm not here to hype you up and leave you hanging. I'm giving you the exact blueprint to start living intentionally today. Here's how you do it. Step one, define your purpose.
- 16:01Grab a pen and paper right now, or again, use your notes app in your phone. Write down what you stand for, what you live for, and what you're striving toward. Be specific. For me, it's leading, inspiring, educating, motivating, and modeling the behaviors for others to live happier than life. What's yours? Write it down now.
- 16:26Step two, choose intentional daily habits. We talked about them. Start with one or two small habits that align with your purpose and start them today. Not tomorrow, not next week, today. Meditate for 10 minutes, journal for five minutes,
- 16:4320 minute workout, 30 minute workout, could be a walk around the block, something, just something more than you're used to doing. Read 10 pages of a book that challenges you, preferably nonfiction. These small actions compounded a massive results. Track them in a journal or app to stay accountable. Remember what we measure gets better. And I suggest we slowly increase them over time. Number three, step three, conduct a life audit.
- 17:13Look at every area of your life. And I mean every area, your relationships, your career, your health, your habits. Ask yourself, is it aligned with my purpose? If it's not, make a plan to change it or cut it out today. Toxic friends, limit your time with them. Unhealthy habits, replace them with ones that serve you. Misaligned opportunities,
- 17:38No is a complete sentence and doesn't require explanation. Step four, build accountability. Share your purpose and habits with someone who will hold you accountable, a friend, a coach, or the Heart of the Life Nation community. Post about it on Instagram and tag me, at kelly.segal.71. Accountability is the glue that keeps you consistent. Step five, embrace the discomfort.
- 18:08because it will come. Intentional living isn't always comfortable. In fact, if you're doing it right, it should be uncomfortable. That's why we stay stuck, my friends, because we conform to comfort. So it's gonna get uncomfortable. It's going to push your, to face your fears, question your beliefs, question my sanity. Why is Kelly telling me to do this? It will allow you to let go of what's holding you back.
- 18:37Lean into that discomfort. That's where the growth happens. As I always say, most won't, but you will. Heart of the Life Nation, you've got one shot at this.
- 18:47One shot at this life. Don't waste it drifting through on autopilot, chasing things that don't matter like I did for so many years. You deserve a life that's happier than life, full of purpose, joy, and impact. Intentional living took me from a disconnected, empty hustler to a man who's at peace with himself, leading to a movement and changing lives every day.
- 19:13I know you probably think that of me screaming and yelling, I'm not happy, but this one's purposeful. I'm doing this on purpose because I want you to hear this message. You have that power too. It starts with one intentional choice today. Write down your purpose. Pick one habit. Share your journey with me on the Hunter of the Life Nation. DM me on Instagram.
