About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” — Matthew 27:46Those words from the cross —'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' — are the most profound in all Scripture. He was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. The Father made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us. He became a curse for us. He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
