We're back. it was a little MIA the past week. Actually, you know what? Full disclosure, we were not MIA last week. Me and Matt did record an episode. We recorded episode fifty-three. However, last week was probably one of the busiest weeks of my entire year. so I didn't have time to edit and get it out, but we did record an episode. So this is technically episode fifty three point two. And we got Ethan joining us this week. Ethan, welcome back. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. And yeah, listen. There will be proof that y'all recorded last week in this podcast. Yeah, I there actually is a segment in the college football that we're gonna talk about. I'll probably just I'll talk I'll say then whenever I splice it in there. But yeah, me and Matt, we did record episode, kinda just didn't get it out. So listen, life happens and it got really busy. And also Call of Duty came out this past weekend. So I I didn't get to play it this weekend 'cause I was at a friend's wedding. The Vikings win. The Vikings did win. Vikings are actually six and So the so Kyler Murray actually did some film study and now had Call of Duty. Well, I have a theory. I think Kyler Murray is actually waiting on GTA to come out. The new GTA six. I think that drops later in November. It does. But yeah, I'm su well actually I guess so he probably didn't have time to play it last week. He's probably playing it this week. So if the Vikings lose this week, then we'll know if the Kyler Murray Call of Duty thing is a real thing. but Listen, we'll we're gonna get into a little bit of that in the show coming up. We we're gonna start off with a little bit of MLB going on. We're gonna do some NFL college football, and then we'll probably finish it off with the MLB. but first of all, let's start off here with the MLB World Series Ethan. So we haven't really talked about it too much on this podcast. Actually, me and Matt did talk about it last week, but it didn't come out. So Milwaukee Brewers taking on the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series, and by the time this episode drops World Series could be over. We're watching game four right now. It is currently zero zero, but the Brewers do have a three lead in the series. And in the history of the World Series, teams with a three lead are twenty five and and twenty one of those have ended in a sweep. So I'm expecting this game to be done tonight and that Milwaukee Brewers will be the champions. Yeah. It would be I mean, honestly it'd be impressive for Tampa Bay to come back and win four straight, but I There's no way you can do that, I feel like. Yeah. I maybe I don't know, the Brewers just seemed like they're such odd team. I know Monday night they went on, they scored ten runs in the second inning or something. Actually, while the Cowboy game Cowboys and Eagles were going on, I was like, let me flip over the world series, see how that's going. I saw it was ten zero and I was like, all right, well, that game's pretty much done. Back to watching the Eagles get beat up by the Cowboys even more. So, yeah. little bit going on there. I you what, let's get into the let's get into the Cowboys Eagles game too, Ethan, just because I know you're a giant Cowboys fan like myself. And Cowboys beat the Eagles. Cowboys beat an Eagle with two broken wings, a broken leg, and neck that was a little fractured and Yeah, I can't even I can't even be happy about this win as a Cowboys fan because it's like the Eagles they put out their injury report earlier I think on Sunday or Sunday or Friday, basically the whole sheet is full. They are so beat up. It seems like what the 49ers went through last season, that's the Eagles this season. Just seems like everyone's getting hurt. Everyone knows about Jalen Hurts' blood clots now. Saquon's been battling a hamstring issue. Devonta Smith was out. He I think he was finally actually back the last two weeks. And then yeah, it's just like their whole defense is depleted. They have offensive linemen that are retiring. It's just like it's not the Eagles here. No. So Let me the Cowboys have beat a bag Marcus Mario to the Led Commanders. Yep. A undu winless tent Houston team. Yep. And a beat up Eagles team. Like let's not get too high on the horse yet. We've Yeah, Cowboys are now what, three and four? yeah, three and four. Second in the division. I did say before I was talking to Matt, Whenever we're talking about the episode last week, I'm I was telling him I was like, Hey man, the Eagles win this game, I might have to retire from being a Cowboys fan. yeah, I would've yeah. A Tanner McKee led Eagles. I might have to I might have to and you know what? I fully expect the Eagles to win that game somehow. After losing the Jalen Daniels and Tampa Bay, I was like, listen, man, I'd rather have the starting quarterback in there after what I've gone through. So but yeah, no honestly shout out to shout out to CeeDee Lamb and Javante Williams had some Absolutely dominating. Actually, Javante Williams, I think he had a hundred and fifty yards rushing in this in that game. I think that was the f first time since two thousand eighteen. A little guy by the name of Ezekiel Elliott had that. So Cowboys are looking I don't even think three. No. They haven't had a meaningful win. If they if they can beat the Cardinals, I'll say, All right, that's a better step, but they've got to beat I'd like to see beat the forty niners, which honestly they're beat up too, so no not really. I'd Dak Prescott did come out after the game and said, you know, listen, the NFC East, it's right there in front of us. All we gotta do is keep winning. And that's a very true statement, other than the Giants keep winning. And then the Giants next week will be taking on the Eagle No no Giants don't play the Eagles yet. I think that's the commanders. We're gonna we're gonna do a little bit about the NFL coming up. They play the Eagles next week. You're right. No, the commanders play the Eagles. the Eagles are on a bye next week, then. Yeah. No. All right, the Giants, Giants, Giants. Giants are on a bye. Yeah. Eagles seem to play everyone off a bye. Yeah. So the Giants have the Eagles, Commanders, back to back, Jaguars, Colts, Forty Niners, Seahawks, Browns, Lions, Cowboys, Eagles again. So I mean the next two games, the Giants should win, which is gonna suck. Yeah, and it's the it's the nine led Giants. They just beat up on the they just beat the Texans. Cam Scataboo had a bounce back game. Yes. He actually looked pretty good in that game, honestly. surprisingly. Maybe maybe eighteen. He's he's nine to the power of two now. I think I think we need to address something since you brought up that game. The unnecessary roughness penalty on Cam Scadaboo. Yeah. Did you see that? Like that is Yeah. He brought up a good point. He's like, so if anyone didn't see Cam Scadaboo is just like going head first whenever he's getting whenever he's running the ball now. And he yeah, he just puts his head down and runs over people. He he came out after and he was like, Listen, the NFL loves to penalize me whenever I do that, but then they also love to market it. Yeah. If anyone has seen the state farm commercial, it's literally about Cam Scadaboo and just like the contact and being very physical. Like it that's the joke, is like that's that's Cam Scadaboo in a nutshell is he's just He's not the fastest, he's not the strongest, but he's gonna run through somebody. And it seems to be like whenever it works out for advertising, the NFL wants to put that out there, but whenever he actually does in a game. It's almost like the whole Kyle Yu's check where he was celebrating when he was drinking beer in the end zone and the NFL's like, Hey, you can't do that, but then also the NFL has all their beer sponsorships that are going on. Well he wasn't even drinking beer though. He's drinking juice. He's drinking juice, he's drinking juice, of course, of course. we've kinda got off a little bit of a yeah well, we've got we've We've buried the lead, Ethan, a little bit. We we weren't even going to talk about the NFC East, but it seems like every time we come on, it's it's Cowboys NFC East dominant led show. So there was that segment for you. But what I really wanted to talk about, Ethan, is what everyone's talking about here. Jay-Z, Rock Nation, came out that Jay Z will headline Super Bowl sixty one at SoFi this year, February fourteenth, twenty twenty seven, on Valentine's Day. What's funny about that, Ethan, is Jay Z is the one that gets to choose who does the Super Bowl halftime show. Really? I didn't know that. So he chose himself. I actually didn't know that either until it came out that it he was doing the halftime show. Yes, really Has he did he just start doing this or No, so he started doing this in twenty nineteen. So seven years, and he's like, you know what? I want to perform it now. Well, he gave it he gave everyone else a little bit of time and then he like, I'll sprinkle myself in and then we'll go back to picking other people. Yeah, and everyone's cool. Everyone's actually upset about this. I guess it's coming out that I don't know, but everyone's I I didn't I thought Jay Z was like a well loved artist and now it's coming out that apparently everyone's like okay, we didn't really want this, but you know what? I will I'll take this over Bad Bunny. I listen, Bad Bunny, it was a great performance, but Chase, yeah, I like I like a little rap. I like a little hip hop. So that's what I'm excited about. Also, he's doing this 30 years. I guess this is another reason why he's doing it. It's 30 years since his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, was released. And also, I can't wait to see what the bets are of the special guest appearances that are going to come out. I think leading right now, Beyonce, obviously, his wife is going to come out and perform. It'll probably be Beyonce's third Super Bowl performance. She's like headlined and then I think she was with Coldplay and then she'll be with Jay Z. and then I think Snoop Dogg will probably come out. Maybe Eminem. Probably. Maybe maybe Dr. Dre. I've heard his daughter is is has even been at a couple concerts playing piano. Well she'll be out there playing. Yeah, so I can't wait to see what what songs Jay Z has pref has queued up for it. This could be a really good halftime show if they If they do it right, I guess we could say. Yeah. And this will be after the the Vikings have scored two points in the in the first half. It's two zero Vikings against somebody. That actually leads me to my next thing here, Ethan. Let's get into the Vikings a little bit here. So, as we got as listen, guys, as we all had at the beginning of this season, Vikings are the only undefeated team left. That's obviously we all had that wrote down. That was that we penciled that in. I know me and Matt We had all the undefeated teams left. It was the the Chiefs, Vikings and Niners. I chose the Niners. Matt chose the Chiefs. Both of our teams lost this past week. The forty forty niners lost to the Falcons and the Chiefs lost to the Seahawks. And so the last man standing is the Vikings. Which I don't think anyone's seen that coming. Especially that. Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray. He's just a winner. Yeah. I wouldn't even say a lot of it is Kyler Murray, but you know, we'll find out this week. It's just a winner. They couldn't win in Arizona. Arizona was holding them back. And then as we also all predicted, the Chargers are the last defeated team. Which that is That is also shocking. Everyone had the Cardinals or my or the Dolphins as the last team that was gonna win. How many more games do they get to lose until they fire Harbaugh? they won't fire Harbaugh. I think if anything, they'd fire Mike McDaniel. that's they probably need to. Let's see. They probably 'cause they're in a gauntlet right now. They're just coming off a bye week, so they obviously didn't have a chance to win. But now they play the Rams, Texans, Ravens, Jet you know what? Maybe the Jets. Maybe November twenty second they get their first win. I mean, they do play the Texans here after the Rams, so maybe they can pick up the win there. Yeah. Surely. Surely surely they get it. But yeah, obviously, the Vikings, everyone wants to talk about Kyler Murray. I think a lot of it is their defense is an absolute dominant force to be reckoned with. If you have them in fantasy football, it's like the number one defense out there right now. they blitz, I think they blitz eighty percent of their plays. Like it's it's ridiculous. They're just the type of they're just sitting in every they're just sitting sitting in the kitchen sink every play, it seems like. the Vikings are actually on an eleven game win streak dating back to last season. So it's the longest win streak in the NFL right now. Who was the Vikings quarterback last season at the end? 'Cause I know J J got hurt. They didn't have Kyler at the moment. Who was their quarterback last season? Yeah. Didn't Max Brasmer and Carson Wentz trade off? I think it was Carson Wentz, yeah, at the end. Wasn't it? Yeah, I think it was yeah, it was like Car Carson Wentz. Good trivia question there. Yeah, who was who was who was the one leading the Vikings? Well also JJ McCarthy was like undefeated his like last four starts. It just wasn't pretty. Ethan, it brings up my next trivia question for you. Do you know the last time the Vikings were seven and man. I feel like it would have to be in the Adrian Peterson era. I think it was a little bit before the Adrian Peterson era. It was the two thousand season. So then you're trying to go seven this week. Wow. I figured Adrian Peterson would have been able to I mean, the year that he came back off injury and ran for what, two thousand yards? 'Cause when Adrian Peterson drafted, was that two thousand eight? no. I thought two thousand eight was his like year that he came off injury. maybe I'll be drafted two thousand seven. He was the seventh overall pick. That was close. But yeah, no, the Vikings will be trying to get to seven They're playing the Lions this week. Divisional opponent should be pretty good. So far they beat the Bears and they beat the Packers. So they're undefeat I mean they're undefeated right now. So obviously they've haven't lost a divisional game yet. And I don't know, the Lions Probably gonna put up a lot of yards. Probably won't put up a lot of points against that defense. Gonna be an absolute real tas for him. That will be a that should be a pretty good game though. Yeah, no, I think that will be I think that's a noon game. We're gonna get a little bit of the previews coming up, but yeah, that's a noon game. So I think that one's gonna end up being a pretty good, pretty good little noon slate game as well. either what I really want to talk about here and what this podcast was probably focused on a little bit about here. The Colts are fire shelling. They're getting rid of everyone. Possibly everyone. Colts are now two and five. They just lost to the Vikings. They're on a three-game losing streak, and they're getting rid of everyone. So if you don't know, it just came out. The Seahawks have traded for three-time all-pro guard Quentin Nelson from the Colts in exchange for a twenty twenty-seven third-round pick and a twenty twenty-eight fifth-round pick. Quentin Nelson, who is thirty years old has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons since he was drafted six overall out of Notre Dame in two thousand eighteen. He is one of four offensive players since the nineteen seventy merger to be selected to the Pro Fo to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons. Do you know the other four, Ethan? four or three other offensive players. Zach Martin. Not Zach Martin. Actually, there is one offensive lineman. offensive tackle Joe Thomas. Running back Franco Harris and other running back, famously known Barry Sanders. Okay. Elite company there, joining with the Seahawks. Really going to be able to help keep Sam Darnold on his feet a little bit longer in honestly, this is just gonna help the Seahawks bolster up a little bit. And that wasn't it for the Colts. It actually just came out right before we were about to start this recording. The Colts are trading three time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner back to the forty Niners, the team that made him a twenty sixteen first round pick before dealing him to the Indianapolis in twenty twenty. And it's gonna be a reunion for the forty niners in exchange for a twenty twenty seven fourth round pick. So Lot there, DeForest Buckner was originally drafted to the 49ers, was traded to the Colts in 2020, and now he's coming back to the 49ers, really gonna be helpful bolstering up that defensive line as well. So that leads me to my question here, Ethan. Do you think the Colts are gonna be getting rid of Jonathan Taylor before the trade deadline on November 10th? Colts owner Carly Ursay Gordon has reportedly said she does not want to trade him, but there are some teams interested. Including the Packers, Seahawks, Vikings, and Broncos. Probably not the Seahawks since they just traded for Gwen Nelson, but could definitely be the Packers, could definitely be the Vikings, could definitely be the Broncos. I don't see the Packers wanting him as much because they are getting back Josh Jacobs. That is also a fair point. Josh Jacobs did just make his return this week. I I mean if the price is right, yeah, he's gone. But if not, you still need someone to build around and if You're trading all these other people, you can the season isn't quite over yet. Like if you can deal out a couple picks, these picks that you're getting deal out and get some strong players to come in, then I mean it's technically not over yet. But if they trade Jonathan Taylor, then yeah, it's they're just building for the future, I feel like. Yeah, what I've heard so far out of the rumors out of for a trade for Jonathan Taylor is that it would be a second round pick and maybe a little bit more. There's possibility that it could be a second round pick. I know one of the things on why they did the DeForest Buckner trade was because he had one year left on his contract and basically he's an eleven year veteran. It would have been like if he would have gone and been a free agent or if he would have been dealt after this year or something. They would only have gotten a fifth round, so they ended up getting a fourth for him. Jonathan Taylor, I think they don't get rid of him just because you do need a cornerstone that's gonna put butts in seats. You need someone that keeps the fans coming back. It's the reason why Jerry Jones keeps the offense like he's keeping weapons and stuff. But I could definitely see him moving to the Vikings. Could also see the Broncos. I don't think I don't see the Broncos as much. I think I see the Vikings. The Broncos have like, I feel like too many running backs right now that they're trying to figure out what to do with and I I feel like it would just make it a little bit harder on the Broncos. I could see the Vikings. Who else would who else needs a running back that's or not even needs a running back, but could use a running back. Like, who do the Lions have? The Lions have Jameer Gibbs. Jameer Gibbs, that's right, that's right. I was thinking of Pacheco being on the island So the Vikings starting running back right now is Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones. I would really think about dealing and trying to get Jonathan Taylor. Yeah, no, I'm definitely but Aaron Jones has been semi decent for this year, I feel like. And what's crazy too is the Colts are only in second place in the A in the AFC South. I tell you who would be a wild card who I could see, especially with comments being made, is the Giants. Because they've got to Well yeah, but when was it last week Harbaugh was come out and said that, you know, no and none of our running backs have really taken like advantage of the reps they've been giving this, this and that. So I mean could I could see them like I mean, Scattaboo you could give up and give I mean the Colts would probably love to have Scataboo if you're giving up Jonathan Taylor and return in maybe a second or third rounder you think they would I don't think they trade Scattaboo for Jonathan Taylor. I mean I don't Think so either, but that's I mean, that could be an offer kind of a selling point of hey, we'll give you Scataboo who's younger, more physical. I mean, the Seahawks could definitely use a Jonathan Taylor. I'm trying to see who do they have? Because they've just had a bunch of running backs that are coming off injury too. yeah, they have Manuel Wilson and Zach Charbonnet just came back. George Helani as well. Once again, I think like Jonathan Taylor in there too. If you if they have the p I don't know if they have the picks to do it though after this trade for Quentin Nelson. But would be very interesting here. Yeah, I feel like there's a c I feel like there's a couple teams that could let me let me ask you this. Do you think Jonathan Taylor gets traded before November 10th? I would like to say yes, but then again, like we were talking about, you gotta have someone there that can sell. merch and sell tickets and that's him. Daniel Jones isn't selling nine year receivers. Josh Downs isn't really selling anything. well, so there's actually conversation that Josh Downs would probably be dealt before Jonathan Taylor. Yeah, I think that's from Schefter. I think he was on Pat McAfee talking about that. you gotta have someone that's a superstar on your team. Yeah. Yeah, I think it's I think honestly I think he could get dealt if the pr once again, if the price is right. I yeah, I know the owner comes said out came out and said she doesn't want to. That's on a no. But honestly, that's that's usually the phone and make her say no to you. That's usually if someone says no, we're not gonna trade they're usually probably getting traded. there's probably something going on behind the scenes. Yeah. no, we don't want to tri like Jerry. Every time Jerry's like, we're making moves, yeah, we're not making no moves. I just feel like it has to be a team that's in contention but needs a running back. So the Vikings, six and they're already fake at playoffs. They they six and is a great start, and there's r I think the last time they started six and was the two thousand I mean I think it was the i I the two thousand seas season they did, and I think they finished like what do they they have what they finished on that? I c who could really use them would be Pittsburgh looking pretty I know Pittsburgh's Jalen Warren's would come around. It's like a lot of these running backs haven't been good, they're starting to come around. I would have said the Eagles had they had Jalen Hurt still. Like depending on what was gonna happen with Saquon and his hamstring, but it seemed like Saquon came back. He at least like played somewhat good and the Eagles are on a five game skid, so I'm kinda taking them out of it now. I would say Cincinnati, but they don't like to spend money, so or any of that. Yeah, the commanders possibly, but they've only won one game, so it's like no need to trade there. I don't know what New England's looking like, but I feel like Jonathan Taylor's better than Stevenson and the other guy they got. Yeah, I know Matt's not here. The Saints. That would be NFC South is very possible to take, but I also know the Saints are always in Capell, so I don't even know if they have the room to sign Jonathan Taylor. Yeah. that would be actually a good duo, Jonathan Taylor and Alvin Kamara. Kamara, yeah, Tyler Shuck, Yeah, especially with I don't know what's up with H and how long he's out for, but he's been out for a minute. Yeah, no, I just something I've been seeing. Apparently there's rumors going around Colts are on a fire cell. There's probably gonna be a lot more Colts that end up getting let go, especially on the defensive side and also Josh Downs. So they've just been battling a lot of injuries and like I said, they're only in second place in the in the AFC South, but still not looking too good 'cause the Jaguars are kinda running away with that division. All right, Ethan, let's move on here. Let's get into some of the week eight games preview for the NFL. So starting off first, we already talked about it. Cowboys at the Cardinals for the noon, a couple noon games here. This is a revenge game on Jacoby Brissett for the Cowboys. Last year they came in to the star, beat the Cowboys. I'm fully expecting the Cowboys to lose the lose this again. We've we have like a losing record against the Cardinals. Doesn't matter how bad they are. And this is definitely one that you know what? I'm gonna say if this game was in Dallas, go ahead and take the Cardinals. But I'm gonna say since we're since we're in Arizona for this one, I'm gonna take the Cowboys. But I'm very hesitant on Jeremiah Love. He might he might run for two hundred yards on our Cowboys defense. I'm taking everyone opposite of the Cowboys this year. So give me or other than the Eagles, but give me the Cardinals. Okay. The Cowboys defense just isn't that great still. Getting there, but still not that great. Next one here, Ravens at the Bills. Another noon game here. And the biggest question mark around this is is Lamar Jackson gonna play in this game? Is he gonna play football ever again this year? well it came out Ravens head coach Jesse Minter has said that Jackson's ankle is in a quote unquote decent spot to play versus the Bills on Sunday. I don't know what a decent spot is, but I think he was also ruled out last minute last week against the Browns. No, against the sorry, the the the Bengals, not the Browns. And I think we could see that same situation again. Also the Bills are coming off a bye week, so like the Bills are gonna be well rested. I think this is easy take the Bills on this. And if Lamar even if Lamar Jackson plays. Yeah. I'm I think the Bills, yeah, would win this. I wouldn't be surprised if if Lamar plays, I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens could pull it off, but If he's not playing, I'd take the Bills. Yeah. All right. Here we go with the Vikings at the Lions. already talked about it earlier. Vikings on the eleven game win streak, trying to get to seven and Haven't been there since the two thousand season. And I'm gonna roll with the Vikings, man. Yeah, we'll go Vikings with you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And listen, the Lions, Lions are a good football team. The whole like NFC North is a is a great division right now. I think yeah, they're all above five hundred. So Packers are in last place in the division at four and three. Lions are four and two, so like they're on the right track. But yeah, I think the Vikings defense is just too dominant. I think they they give a solid defense and they've figured out something until if there is anyone that could stop him, it's Jared Goff. He's he might pass for eight hundred yards in this game. The problem is just getting in the end zone for the l for the Lions. And we'll see whether the Kyler Murray Call of Duty hangover is is a real thing or not. That is true. Yeah, that is. We'll see. All right. Next one here. Then probably, you know what? This might be the best noon game here. Browns at the Steelers. I can't believe at the at the beginning of this year I said we won't talk about the Browns ever again. And here we are. Both these teams are five and two, and this game is for control of the division of the AFC North. They're both top one and two. Browns are actually, I think, leading the division based on division record against their opponents. And you know what? I say I'm taking the Steelers, dude. I'm taking Aaron Rodgers at home. I'm I'm not I don't believe the Browns are a good football team. It just seems like it they're just gambling and they keep hitting the the same number every time. Yeah, I I'm not gonna go against Arod, especially against the Browns. gimme the Steelers as well. All right. We're in agreement there. It probably means the Browns will win this one. You know what? You know what? This is what's gonna happen. The Steelers are gonna win the first three quarters of this game, and then the Browns are gonna do what they've done all year and just come back and win it somehow. There's gonna be there's gonna be in contention enough, close enough, and they're gonna have a great fourth quarter and win it. Seems to be what they always do. All right, getting here to the afternoon slate. The best game I saw this afternoon is the Chiefs at the Broncos. Broncos, they're undefeated at home this year, Ethan. It's a tough place to play in Denver. It it is. It is. However, you got one man coming in. He might be Superman. He's having he just had a bad game against the Seahawks last week. Patrick Mahomes. He's 14 and 2 versus the Broncos in his career, and he's six and two on the road. They might say, okay. There's two losses there. Well, those last two losses were actually his last two times in Denver playing. So he has a revenge on his mind. I don't know. This is where I'm this is where I'm I when I saw that fourteen of two, I was like, I'm hammering Mahomes all day. And then his last two games there, he's lost. Yeah, but there's no way he loses three times. No way he does it three times in a row, right? Yeah, yeah, there's no way. I'm I'm going with cheese. my red raider I'm also going to go with the Chiefs and expecting Kenneth Walker to bounce back. Also, Harrison Bucker didn't have the best game last week. The whole Chiefs, they just stunk it up last week against the Seahawks. Had they won that game, I might be like, okay, the Chiefs are riding real high. They're undefeated. They're coming into the Broncos. Broncos playing ugly style football where their defense is gonna keep them in the game and Bonex is gonna do just enough at the quarterback position to help them win the game at the end. But the the Chiefs. taking a tough loss last week on Kenneth Walker's homecoming to the Seahawks and then coming into the Broncos. They're gonna have something to prove and this is where they do it. I yeah. I I think the Chiefs, yeah. like you said, they lost last week. They're gonna be wanting to bounce back. Yeah, Andy Reed came out and said, listen, this loss is on me. I didn't ha I didn't have us prepared on all three facets of the game. Special teams, defense, offense, we just didn't look good altogether. I think also the Chiefs wide receivers injuries is really catching up to him now. The I think Thornton with his dislocated ankle, I think he's out for the remainder of the season. I think also that Rasheed Rice, he was out last week as well. So it seems like their receiver injuries are really catching up to him now. But once again, Mahomes still has Kenneth Walker and Travis Kelsey. I think they can get it done. Yeah. I think also I don't even know who's favored in this game. Who do you think's favorite, Ethan? I'm looking it up now. Probably I'd probably say Denver at home. Especially with with what's you're saying. Well It's actually Kansas City one and a half. So that's actually really close spread. Okay. I think it could have gone either way. Just depends on which way the ball bounces a little bit. All right, next game here. This is the worst game of the week. It just needs to be flexed out of Sunday night football. You say that, but it's gonna be the best game of the week. Watch. Yeah, this is there's no way this is the best game of the week. You say that, but watch. It'll be we just literally we just talked about a bunch of other great games. I bet I doubt this one is there. This might be the first Sunday night football game I don't watch. It's the Eagles at the Commanders. the Eagles that are just absolutely downbound on injuries, and the Commanders who are one four and one this season, it's just I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm gonna take the Commanders in this game to win. It looked really good against the 49ers, at least in the last like fourth quarter. The Eagles I don't know. I think they're on a five game skid. I think they get to a six game skid here. And Basically Sunday night football this just needs to be this needs to be a noon game. All right. So Commanders, best game of the week, best game of the year right here going down. Sunday night football. You're saying game of the year for this one? Yep. This is gonna be the worst game of the year you've ever had. It's gonna be the best. It's gonna be the best. Commanders, yeah. Okay. All right. Watch, it's gonna be the Eagles, just blow it out. Tanner McKee's gonna look like Tom Brady in prime time football. I yeah, that's gonna be tough. All right. Moving on to Monday night football here. This is actually gonna be a really good game. Bears at the Seahawks. So we just saw the Chiefs try and come in to the Seahawks home. Got to see what happens there. That defense is for real. The Super Bowl the Super Bowl champs are look at they look good last week. I wouldn't say they look good this season, but they look good last week. At least JSN and the defense. The what is it, the dark side, that's what they call their defense. A defense with a nickname, as Mike Domin said, that's a scary thing. That is. That's actually pretty cool. I didn't know that. And and JSN might be the best receiver in the NFL. There's talks that he could actually be an MVP conversation by the time we get to there. so with all that said, I'm gonna take I actually don't know who I'm gonna take in this one. I'm deciding right now. Got Kay I mean, you got Caleb Williams, you got the Bears. I really need the Bears to win. But the Seahawks, I think they're just Roll is they they look just good enough. Their defense is just good enough. I think maybe they could stop Ben Johnson's offense. I'm gonna take the Seahawks in this one. I'm gonna take the Bears. Yeah, take the Bears. All right. Take the Bears. Seahawks are favored by three. That should be a good game though. I'm excited for that one. Ben Johnson will have the Bears rolling. Yeah, fantasy football wise, I need DeAndre Swift to have a Javante Williams game. Hundred and fifty yards. But we may not get there. All right. Yep. I think that's pretty much all it for the NFL. Next we're gonna come back and do some college football talk. All right. We're back to do some college football going into well, I guess a little bit of week eight real quick. So there was talks, Ethan, that the big twelve was possibly gonna get three or four teams into the college football playoffs. That talk lasted exactly one week and then it's all out the door now. Not really all out the door, but no, we'll be lucky if we if the Big Twelve gets two teams in the college football playoff now. We get two teams then. Yeah. And yeah, that pretty much is out the doors now. based off of number eight, Texas Tech and number two BYU both lost to Cincinnati and UCF. So Big Twelve taking a page out of the SEC's book where they just beat up on each other. This also brought up something that I saw from a Texas Tech page, Texas Tech Everything. And this is for the fourth year in a row, the seventh game curse has struck Texas Tech. For the fourth year in a row, Texas Tech has lost their seventh game of the season dating back to twenty twenty three when they lost to K State. And the year after that in twenty twenty four, they lost to Baylor. Everyone knows last year they lost to Arizona State and Arizona State. And then now they lost to Cincinnati this past week. It is just seems to be the seventh game is whenever Texas Tech trips up. And they're gonna hopefully bounce back here. they have a ranked matchup this week, taking on number twenty two, Arizona. Texas Tech has fallen to number thirteen. So it's gonna be a ranked matchup at home for Texas Tech. We're gonna see whether they battle back. The offense just did not look good last week. Listen, well we'll talk a little bit about Texas Tech because we we We're both Texas Tech guys here. The defense has looked good. The offense is hasn't. Joey Maguire came out and said Cincinnati was just a lot more a lot more physical than us across the whole game. And then you know what? It would at least was nice that BYU lost. That the only thing that would have made it better is if Utah lost. That would have helped us out a lot. Yeah, Utah got a a big win against Houston, so Utah moves up to number six in the country, they're now the highest ranked Big Twelve team. And just as interesting with the A P rankings. I'm ready for the College Football rankings to come out because Notre Dame's all the way back up at five and BYU fell all the way to eight. I don't know if everyone remembers, but two weeks ago I'm pretty sure BYU beat Notre Dame. Pretty interesting there. That is true, yeah. And they well I guess both of them came down to BYU beat what Notre Dame last second, and BYU went what double overtime? Yep. With UCF. Yeah. S BYU still beat Notre Dame. I mean, yeah. But I I don't know if they look at it as in well you lost in regulation than losing to overtime double overtime type of thing. I'm be honest, I don't think the AP poll voters really know what they're doing. I saw Utah had a number one vote. Yeah. Someone at the A P thought Utah was the number one team of the country. Yeah, over Miami. Over Miami, yeah. I get it like Miami or Ohio State, you can pick whichever one you want. but yeah, Miami is definitely number one team of the country. They've they've looked really good this year. we're gonna get to see actually I think actually Miami and Notre Dame played this year, right? That's coming up. I think so. yeah, it's actually two weeks from now. So Miami this week has North Carolina. And I'm excited for this. This is a night game. Could be Bill Belichick's first chance to knock off an AP number one team. They're at North Carolina too. So at North Carolina. All the cards are stacking up just right, yep. North Carolina's gotta come out and keep this game close. If if if Miami, if if Mensah and the rest of the hurricanes get rolling, Malachi Tony, all those guys get rolling, like it's go ahead and wrap it up. But I mean, this is definitely a real game. I mean, Notre Dame, they played close against they just had a ranked matchup. They play I think they played Notre Dame as well. Yeah, they lost to Notre Dame thirty seven twenty six. So it's like they've been playing good teams. They did beat Pitt twenty one seventeen. Pitt was the number twenty five team in the country, so I feel like North Carolina has the chance to do it. The problem is I just think Miami might be a buzzfall. North Carolina has all the chances to do it. It's just all the chips gotta fall correctly in their way for them to win. Like you can't mess up one bit here. Like you're gonna have to play a perfect football game. Right. Yeah, it's gonna be gonna be interesting here. and then we have number seventeen. Florida taking on number three Georgia in Athens. we've seen Florida is a good team. They've had some upsets. They've also had a couple skids this year. Yeah. I was gonna say they've had glimpses of like being great, but then they've also showed us glimpses of being bad. Yeah, not not as good. But Georgia, on the other hand, coming off a couple weeks ago, they lost to Auburn, bounced back last week. But I think I I like Georgia in this one, but I wouldn't be upset. I I wouldn't be shocked to see Florida pull off an upset. Yeah. I think Florida could definitely do it. No. It just seems like the SEC is just eating itself alive. Yeah. So those were the top three games that I saw this week. let us know in the comments if there was a game that I missed that you guys think I should be watching. But I know in a couple weeks we a we definitely have Texas Tech and Oklahoma State coming up, and so I'm really hoping Texas Tech can stay ranked. Oklahoma State's now ranked. they were up at yeah, they're up to twenty-four now. So all the way across AP poll obviously going on. before we go any further on the show, I'm gonna cut the segment here to when me and Matt we talked about last week the college football playoff expanding to twenty-four teams. So I'll cut that into the podcast now. Speaking of bowl games and kind of not meaning anything, Matt, let's get into the new college football format. 24 team playoff format that is starting in 2027. This just came out this week. It's led by ESPN, and it's going to reportedly pay in an average additional $345 million per year for an extra 12 playoff games on top of their already multi-billion dollar broadcast rights deal. the specifics about it, so it's going to be 24 teams, pretty much not like the top 24 ranked teams. It's gonna be the automatic and at-large bids. So the power four and the highest ranked of group six receive automatic bids. So there goes that five spots. The remaining nineteen spots will be filled by at-large teams. First round buys will go to the top eight seeds, and then the home field advantage will be in the first and second round. The college football playoff will be hosted at the college campuses. Bowl games, traditional major bowl games, will continue to host quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. But Matt, my question to you. Does this dilute the regular season? Could we see a three and four lost team have a shot at winning a national title now? they're gonna be in the playoffs. They're not gonna have a shot, which is the issue. Yep. You're gonna see like like you see in the NFL with fifteen and one, fourteen and two one team rushing their players. Yeah. You're gonna see college players being arrested. Arrested or rested? We're talking about Georgia. I th it sounded like you said arrested. They're gonna be arrested. They're gonna not going to be played. That's a good point. You actually yeah, there probably will be some benching at the final games of the year. Absolutely. It's ridiculous, man. I don't know. I think SMU, Mizzou, who's I guess D's in Boise State. Well so Texas, but Northwood, there's gonna and Arizona probably don't get in. Yeah, but I'm there's gonna be it's twenty-four teams, man. it's you're gonna get a another JME situation where they're just gonna get their backs blown out. Well, there's always gonna be the JM situation because the group of six is receiving an automatic bid no matter what. And people were like, they should go have their their own group of six should have their own, tournament or something or playoff, and it's like Yeah, y do you guys watch the FBS playoff that goes on? Could you tell me one of the teams that was in that? Do you guys know about Montana State? When I say JMU situation, there's gonna be A small school going against Georgia. There's gonna be twelve teams that just get blown out. I don't mean I I agree with the the JMU conference getting, a bid or whatever. Like that's Give a shot. Give the little guy a shot. Yes, but don't give twelve little guys a shot. Yeah. Well well one of them might one of them might land a shot. Maybe. They're not gonna land a shot all the way to the national championship. No, yeah. By the time they get to that second round, especially you get arrested like Ohio State. Any space rested. Yeah. Yes, I agree. Cause I mean th they're gonna do that. I mean, why wouldn't they? Yeah. If they're already in, they're they're 11 and 0. I I was initially an eleven and no Georgia team or a Miami team rest of players. I was initially against this. I've come full circle on it. I think I'm not against it because I don't know if anyone listening to this has watched any bowl games over the last couple years. They've kind of not had like their same shine that they used to have. Like players are kind of like not playing in them and whether they're going to the NFL. This will make those bowl games mean a little bit more because we're gonna have, these are actually playing for a national championship now, which is what every fan base cares about. They don't care about they might care about the Pop Tart bowl, but they don't care about these other small bowl games, right? the players don't care. I'm just gonna dilute the regular season where these these three like Texas losing two games in a row, people are like, shit, if they lose a third one, they're out. They're not gonna be in it. Versus if this is next year, people are like, well, Texas still has two more losses and they could still make it. I think more of what we could see coming is like a big conference realignment where we're just gonna have some super conferences. Like already the SEC and Big Ten are kind of getting there where it's just stacked with a bunch of teams. I think we're gonna see something where even more of these conferences are gonna join up and just create a big super conference and everyone's just gonna build a schedule. It's gonna be like the NFL. Just instead of, you know, whatever the NFL playoff is, this is just expanded. I don't know. I kinda I kinda like it. I go back and forth. obviously we're losing a little bit of the old college football, but I think overall this will be good, especially once again, we're gonna have meaningful football in January, December, not just these bowl games that you're gonna see second stringers playing in. Yeah, I will say LS two losses right now. They're forward forward and two, five and two. they can't afford another loss right now. Yeah. If they wanna have a chance at making the playoffs. But if this is next year and they're five and two, I'm like, Okay, sure. No, we're gonna lose Lose two more games. I also like that it's gonna be fun. This means more g playoff games hosted at college campuses, which I thought was just so awesome last year. That is one of the best things come out of the playoffs is like these college campuses getting to host playoff games. Gonna see like night playoff games or even day playoff games like The crowds just get a little more energy. there's a little bit more plans, winner go home type of thing. Not just storm of the field or whatever, but I think it could be some cool runs. I can only imagine Notre Dame's not gonna miss the playoff now. We they already have if they're ranked in the top twelve, they're gonna be in. This is gotta like if they're ranked in the top thirty, they're in. It's gonna be actually here's actually there's only eighteen spots. It's gonna be the power four, highest rank of group six, and Notre Dame, and then it's gonna be the rest of the eighteen that's gonna make it. Twenty four is It's a big bracket. That's every like Nick Sabin would actually retire. He's already like he's already come out and said, like I'm sure you and everybody listening it heard him say like he doesn't think there's even twelve teams that are g have a a chance at winning. Yeah. I I twenty four at least. Like the there's no have a chance. They've not team playoff feels perfect. It's always gonna be the top four or the top four teams are just gonna win. Yeah. Twelve extra playoff games is doesn't seem like that much actually, so we're gonna be making we're gonna be making brackets. It's gonna be March madness brackets, it's gonna be fucking perfect. December brackets. Yeah. December madness. January madness brackets. Like it's ridiculous. March Madness fits perfect. Yeah, it does. Let us know in the comments what your what your what you would call it. I mean, outside looking in, it can be fun. There's gonna be some teams that there's gonna be upsets, obviously, as they're always. I want to see a real Cinderella run. Team make it three rounds. See like you're gonna see a a Cinderella run and like March Menace, but you might see one. You're gonna see one, maybe. Great stuff from the guys there. Great stuff. I mean they they really know what they're talking about. Hopefully that the That stuff wasn't super validated from when we talked about it week ago. But yeah. So with that, we'll move on to some of final stuff here. So getting into some other news, the NBA has been going on and there's been some major injuries that have already started. most notably OKC. they've had a bunch of injuries, bunch of guys go down there. but getting into another just came out here, Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves. We talked about the Vikings being really good in Minnesota. Seems like Timberwolves are now have facing an injury issue here. Anthony Edwards will now undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee that will sideline him up to two months per shots. So they just got LaMelo ball in there and now they're facing some injuries. Lost one of their superstars. Hopefully it's not too long. Hopefully, come back after this two weeks. I know knee issues can be sometimes later. I'm battling something in my my own right now with my my marathon training. So I know the knee is very annoying, especially when you're a high caliber athlete like Anthony Edwards. Very he jumps a lot, gonna need that knee. So hopefully he's okay and can come back and the Timberwolves can keep rolling. Yeah, I got one on the NBA. So who is more of a concern right now being Owen not winning a game? The defending champs, New York Knicks, or the Miami Heat that traded for Giannis? The Knicks are owing four? The Knicks are and three. Miami Heats O and four. Well, I think aren't they playing right now? Before before I say anything, let me see if they're if they're playing. When's their next game? The Knicks are playing right now. They're playing the three and Pistons. And right now it is forty five forty six New York. Okay. I think the Heater playing the Hawks next. There's actually stu there was actually talk, that the game's gonna be a day before this episode drops. I'm gonna say the Heat be just because the Knicks already won the championship. It doesn't matter if they don't win a game this season. So you say there's more pressure on the Knicks right now. No, I'd say there's more pressure on the Heat. On the Heat? They just trading got Giannis. They got Giannis, bam. They went and got Klay Thompson. they're in win now mode and they're not winning. I agree, but also like Being a defending champ, you want to at least do good though. Dude, when the Rangers won the World Series or when the Mavs won the finals back in two thousand eleven, I didn't care if we won another game for the next year. You get a year grace of it. I I call it the championship hangover period. The great teams, they don't let that hangover period happen, but when you're a franchise and you haven't won in a while and you win one, it's like, dude, we we've achieved our dreams. We we would had no business being in it. So I think the Knicks they'll get right now. As far as I think the East isn't as stacked as the West. So I think both these teams will be fine. But yeah, I think the Heat are definitely like you went and traded for Giannis. You gotta start winning some games. Yeah. it's kinda a little weird this year. You have Detroit that's undefeated, the seventy Sixers at three and one, Charlotte Hornets at three and one. And then you have Toronto Raptors two and one, Boston at two and one. See, you have Houston four and Oklahoma City, which that's not a shock, four and Memphis Grizzlies, four and Lakers are undefeated, Portland's undefeated at two and And there's some some teams that I would expect to be doing pretty good this early in the season, I guess. Guess it is still extremely we're still so early in the in the NBA season. We'll get into more NBA talks as as everything goes. Right now we're in football season. Right. but with that, we will go ahead and wrap up the show. Thank you everyone for listening. Ethan, thank you for joining on the short notice.
