- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:32So today we are talking about being completely engaged in what
- 0:37you are doing. I think this may be one of the
- 0:40biggest topics that I talked to clients about all week long.
- 0:44And I, I have to say I years ago, many years ago, I had this
- 0:51challenge myself where I might physically be doing something,
- 0:54but my brain was completely doing something else.
- 0:57And I had to teach myself to be completely present with what I
- 1:01was doing. And it is not an easy task.
- 1:04In fact, it's a rather hard task.
- 1:06It's, it's a very hard task because I feel like most people,
- 1:10my brain is more than capable of like thinking about other things
- 1:14and doing something physical. Like if I'm folding laundry, I'm
- 1:18thinking of something else. And, and I'm, and I'm not, I'm
- 1:21not saying I don't do that. I still do that, but I'm very
- 1:24careful about what I allow myself to do that with now
- 1:28because I want to be completely engaged in what I am doing so
- 1:32that I am in the present moment. Because if I'm doing something
- 1:36and I'm in the present moment, I'm actually healing myself from
- 1:40either going to the past or the future.
- 1:43I'm staying put. I'm right where I am.
- 1:45So like right now when I am with you guys and I'm recording this
- 1:49podcast, I am at the Chicken coop.
- 1:53I had already opened the gate. The girls are they get their
- 1:57main doors open and then they get their gate doors open to
- 2:00their run so they can run all over the farm.
- 2:03Half of them left right away because I think with all the
- 2:06rain that we had and whatnot, they are still finding bugs
- 2:09everywhere. We've still got many little
- 2:11ponds that formed all over the property and they're very
- 2:13excited to get out to them. Half of them are still here and
- 2:18a whole bunch are busy in they're laying eggs.
- 2:21It is you can hear all the crows off in the distance that are
- 2:25dealing with a hawk that has arrived this morning.
- 2:28I've got some of the girls who like to sit and listen while I'm
- 2:32doing the podcast. So they take up a seat on perch
- 2:36and listen and you know, we've got egg layers and what not
- 2:40everything's happening. So how can I tell you all of
- 2:44this? Because I'm being observant.
- 2:46I'm in the moment. I'm not anywhere else.
- 2:48I'm not thinking about anything else.
- 2:49I'm not doing anything else. I'm out here in my extra tough
- 2:53boots, a pair of shorts, a sweatshirt, my hair's in a
- 2:57ponytail. I've got my phone.
- 2:59It's very low key how I do this. And I am recording in voice
- 3:03memos to you. And then I will make this into a
- 3:06podcast. This is being in the present
- 3:10moment. I'm looking around to everything
- 3:12I can take in, everything that's happening.
- 3:15I'm not thinking about what I'm doing next.
- 3:17I'm thinking about just this, what's going to come out of my
- 3:20mouth. I'm being observant in this
- 3:24moment. Nothing else I can see.
- 3:26The sun is hasn't come up over the trees yet.
- 3:29It's pretty dark, very early. Celine just ate an entire
- 3:33Raspberry. You know, it's that kind of
- 3:36thing that I'm in the present moment.
- 3:38And when you are not future pacing out in the future, when
- 3:43you are not rear facing in the past, you have such a powerful
- 3:49clearing of your energy to be in the present moment.
- 3:52Because it's freeing to know you don't have anything to worry
- 3:56about past or future. You're just sitting here right
- 4:00now. Are there things I could worry
- 4:02about? Absolutely.
- 4:04Do I have tasks that need to be done?
- 4:06Yes, I do. Am I behind on a project?
- 4:08Slightly Yes. And it irritates me that I am.
- 4:12But you know, with the hurricane and everything that happened, we
- 4:15were behind. OK, great.
- 4:17It happens. But my point is, I am in the
- 4:21present moment and in this present moment, I'm not worried
- 4:24about that. I'm just joyfully watching all
- 4:26these fluffy little butts, eating their breakfast, having a
- 4:29good time, walking around, hunting for things, looking at
- 4:33the, you know, the observing that I have this one group of
- 4:37girls splash Moran's that they there are four of them and they
- 4:42don't like to go off. They like to stay right next to
- 4:44the coop even though the doors are open.
- 4:47They like to hang out. They like to come and sit with
- 4:49me. They are very magical and I love
- 4:53them. But I wouldn't even notice that
- 4:55if I wasn't in the present moment because I'd just be like,
- 4:57oh, some chickens are out and some chickens are in.
- 4:59But instead it's not about some chickens.
- 5:02It's like I'm recognizing them all as I'm talking to you.
- 5:05One of them walks up and just starts staring right at me.
- 5:07It's like she's just there. I wouldn't.
- 5:10Most people might not even notice that, but because I'm in
- 5:12the present moment, I do. So you've got to make sure you
- 5:17stay engaged with what you are doing in the present moment
- 5:21because that's why it's called the present.
- 5:23It really is a present. It's a gift to us when we do it,
- 5:26when we're willing to do it, but we've got to be completely
- 5:29engaged with it in order to take it all in.
- 5:32So eyes, what you're seeing, what you're smelling, what
- 5:35you're hearing, what you're feeling, that's being completely
- 5:38engaged. Work on that and I promise you
- 5:40will see huge differences in your life.
- 5:42And so will the people that interact with you because all of
- 5:45a sudden they're going to appreciate you on a whole
- 5:47different level. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:49you have a blessed day. I hope this was helpful and I
- 5:52will see you tomorrow. Bye.
