- 1:14Speaker 2: Well, today we're talking a Bill's love story. Let's start
- 1:16Speaker 2: with a synopsis.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Okay, let me just tell you, it was really long,
- 1:21Speaker 1: and so I condensed it here, but it's still kind
- 1:23Speaker 1: of long.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Like the list of cast.
- 1:26Speaker 2: In this movie as well. But we'll get to that
- 1:29Speaker 2: in a second.
- 1:30Speaker 1: The Quinns and the DeLucas, next door neighbors and lifelong
- 1:33Speaker 1: members of Bill's mafia, team up when Morgan discovers her
- 1:38Speaker 1: uncle has been receiving anonymous Christmas gifts for more than
- 1:41Speaker 1: 60 years. Morgan and Gabe work together to uncover the
- 1:46Speaker 1: mysterious benefactor. All while Gabe's longtime crush on her quietly
- 1:51Speaker 1: intensifies and she begins to see him differently too. With
- 1:54Speaker 1: Morgan's plan nearly falling apart, Gabe uses his Buffalo Bills
- 1:58Speaker 1: connection to deliver a heartwarming surprise that brings both families
- 2:01Speaker 1: together for an unforgettable Christmas.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Holiday Touchdown, a Bills love story, was directed by Dustin Reichert.
- 2:08Speaker 2: This marks his 30th directing credit. His recent work includes
- 2:12Speaker 2: A Newport Christmas, along with hallmark titles such as The
- 2:15Speaker 2: Christmas Quest, The Finish Line, and Where Are You Christmas?
- 2:19Speaker 1: The screenplay was written by Vanessa Marano and Danielle Morrow. Vanessa,
- 2:24Speaker 1: known for her role as April Nardini on Gilmore Girls,
- 2:28Speaker 1: makes her writing debut with this film. Danielle, an actor
- 2:31Speaker 1: with credits on multiple Nickelodeon series, is also making her
- 2:36Speaker 1: first screenwriting appearance.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Holland Rodin stars as Morgan. We last saw Holland as
- 2:42Speaker 2: Katie Minetti-Hanahan in the limited series Holidays. This movie marks
- 2:46Speaker 2: her 41st acting credit. Matthew D'Addario stars as Gabe. This
- 2:50Speaker 2: is Matthew's first Hallmark project, but you might recognize him
- 2:54Speaker 2: from his long run on the series Shadowhunters. Joe Pantoliano
- 2:59Speaker 2: plays Morgan's Uncle Tommy. With 163 acting credits, his resume
- 3:03Speaker 2: runs deep, including The Last of Us, The Goonies, and
- 3:06Speaker 2: The Sopranos. Tracy Pollan plays Morgan's mom, Joanne. She has
- 3:11Speaker 2: 32 acting credits and is best known for her role
- 3:13Speaker 2: as Ellen Reed on Family Ties, where she starred opposite
- 3:16Speaker 2: her husband of 36 years, actor Michael J.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Fox.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Caroline Aaron plays Gabe's mom, Ricky. Caroline is another actor
- 3:24Speaker 2: with an extensive resume. She's best known for her role
- 3:27Speaker 2: as Shirley Maisel on The Marvelous Mrs.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Maisel. Steve Sharippa plays Gabe's dad, Frank. We last saw
- 3:34Speaker 1: Steve in Sisterhood, Inc. from earlier this year. This role
- 3:37Speaker 1: marks his 80th acting credit.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Patty Mirren plays Morgan's sister, Kathy. This is her 11th
- 3:42Speaker 2: acting credit, and you might recognize her from Hallmark roles
- 3:44Speaker 2: in Mystic Christmas and In Merry Measure.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Patrick Mulvey plays Morgan's brother-in-law, Jeremy. This appears to be
- 3:52Speaker 1: his first project for Hallmark, but has been in shows
- 3:54Speaker 1: like The Pit, NCIS Hawaii, and Magnum P.I.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Abraham Ben-Ruby reprises his role as Santa Claus, a character
- 4:01Speaker 2: he also played in last year's holiday touchdown, A Chief's
- 4:04Speaker 2: Love Story. If he looks familiar, he portrayed Jerry on
- 4:06Speaker 2: ER for 137 episodes.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Eve Gordon plays long-lost love interest Mia. With 94 acting credits,
- 4:15Speaker 1: she's been in a ton of projects, including Don't Trust
- 4:18Speaker 1: the Bee in Apartment 23, Heart of Dixie, and Felicity.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Ugo Chukwu appears as Sal, Joey Palestina as Vinny, Marianne
- 4:27Speaker 2: Torres as Trish, and Mary Stout as Cindy Claus. This
- 4:31Speaker 2: marks the first Hallmark appearance for all four actors. Andrew
- 4:36Speaker 2: Walker appears as bartender at Barbell Tavern. Andrew expressed that
- 4:40Speaker 2: the Bills are his favorite NFL team. Tyler Hines and
- 4:44Speaker 2: Hunter King reprise their roles in a very small cameo.
- 4:48Speaker 2: There are many special appearances from members of the Bills
- 4:50Speaker 2: franchise throughout the movie, and a full list can be
- 4:53Speaker 2: found in our show notes and on our website at girlsgonehallmark.com. Hey,
- 4:59Speaker 2: let's take a quick break and come right back with
- 5:01Speaker 2: our first impression of A Bill's Love Story. Hey, Wendy,
- 5:12Speaker 2: what was your first impression of Holiday Touchdown, take two?
- 5:16Speaker 1: Hey, I think I accidentally joined Bill's Mafia.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Did this movie kind of make you wish that we
- 5:23Speaker 2: had that sort of like sports community?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Like we have plenty of professional sports teams, but it's
- 5:30Speaker 2: not like a community. No. Yeah. No. My first impression
- 5:35Speaker 2: is all hail Keith costumes for his masterful color story
- 5:38Speaker 2: in this movie. Yeah, we didn't mention him in our
- 5:43Speaker 2: about episode. But a friend of the show, Keith Nielsen,
- 5:46Speaker 2: does the costuming for this one. Indeed. Let us kick
- 5:50Speaker 2: off with our likes.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Well, if I can be so blunt. Please. This was
- 5:58Speaker 1: a shockingly delightful watch.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yes. I will, I'll be honest.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Last year's version did not do a whole lot for me.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So I went in with kind of like measured expectations. Like,
- 6:12Speaker 1: very low expectations, and yet I was very surprised how
- 6:16Speaker 1: much I liked this movie.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I have to agree with you. When the announcement came out,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I was not that excited. I was frustrated with last
- 6:23Speaker 2: year's movie because it got all of the promo, all
- 6:26Speaker 2: of the press, everywhere. It was chiefs this and chiefs that.
- 6:31Speaker 2: We haven't really seen that with this movie so much.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I mean, it's been promoted, but certainly not to the
- 6:36Speaker 2: expense of other movies as.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Far as I can tell. Yeah, but that also kind
- 6:40Speaker 1: of threw up a red flag for me. I was like,
- 6:42Speaker 1: oh no, what if it's terrible and that's why they're
- 6:45Speaker 1: not promoting it so hard? Sure.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I don't know. Well, and I think in my opinion,
- 6:51Speaker 2: it had some things working against it. It had a
- 6:54Speaker 2: unknown to me lead male actor. We had new writers attached.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I just, you know, it was the second in a
- 7:01Speaker 2: franchise that I wasn't like super excited about. So like you,
- 7:04Speaker 2: I went in with low expectations and they were swiftly exceeded.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So you liked it? Yes. And what did you like
- 7:12Speaker 1: about it?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Speaking of that unknown actor, Matthew Daddario, who I did
- 7:16Speaker 2: not know prior to this movie, is absolutely delightful. And
- 7:20Speaker 2: I thought he and Holland Rodin were adorable together. Okay,
- 7:24Speaker 2: let me unpack some stuff here.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Okay. Matthew Daddario. Hello. He gives a little bit of
- 7:31Speaker 1: like Adrian Grenier energy. Kind of has the same... younger look.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I'm not mad at it. I would gladly watch him
- 7:39Speaker 1: in another Hallmark movie. I really liked him a lot.
- 7:42Speaker 1: A lot.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Not just, I think he looks the part.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's nice to have like a dark haired kind of,
- 7:49Speaker 1: we don't have a lot of dark haired dudes on Hallmark,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I feel like. I know people are screaming at me.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'm sure there are. But I actually liked his acting
- 7:58Speaker 1: a lot as well. Holland, I liked as well too.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Let me just say that. I'm carrying some Holland Rodin
- 8:07Speaker 1: baggage with me from Holidays. Oh, I hated her character
- 8:14Speaker 1: so much on Holidays that I'm like, wasn't excited to
- 8:18Speaker 1: see her in this role, but I very much enjoyed
- 8:21Speaker 1: her in this role. Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I've, I've let the unfortunate Katie Minetti Hanahan disaster.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I've left that in the past. I, at, times I
- 8:31Speaker 1: was like, ooh, that fills the touch of that character here,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like when she would get a little bit spun up.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But overall, I enjoyed her.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Well, speaking of casting, an ensemble cast is not an
- 8:43Speaker 2: easy thing to do and make it work cohesively. And I,
- 8:47Speaker 2: we had a very large ensemble with some very big names,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and I thought they worked incredibly well together, and they
- 8:54Speaker 2: formed a very believable family and framily unit. I was
- 9:01Speaker 2: particularly enamored with joey pants were you yes i thought
- 9:06Speaker 2: he gave a heartfelt and believable portrayal of her uncle
- 9:12Speaker 2: i liked a lot of their scenes together morgan and
- 9:15Speaker 2: uncles tommy uncle tommy particularly the the catch scene they
- 9:22Speaker 2: have a little football tossing scene i love that scene
- 9:25Speaker 2: he tells her having you two in my life changed
- 9:28Speaker 2: it for the better because she's worried about like Did
- 9:31Speaker 2: we change, you know, did we ruin your life essentially
- 9:33Speaker 2: by moving in with you and changing the course of
- 9:36Speaker 2: your life? And he says, it changed it for the better.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And I loved his line. We worry so much about
- 9:41Speaker 2: what we might lose and not enough about taking a
- 9:45Speaker 2: chance and seeing what we might gain.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I thought it was really lovely.
- 9:50Speaker 1: You know, it's funny because if you remember Tony Danza
- 9:54Speaker 1: was supposed to play this role originally and then he
- 9:56Speaker 1: had to drop out of it and Joey Pants took
- 9:59Speaker 1: it over. I kept wondering, I'm like, how would Tony
- 10:02Speaker 1: Danza be in this role? Joey Pants is great. Yeah, no,
- 10:07Speaker 1: I thought he was great, too, and I did enjoy
- 10:09Speaker 1: all those scenes. If I can circle back to the
- 10:12Speaker 1: storyline that surrounds him, this.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I like to call it mystery light.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: It wasn't a mystery, but Gabe and Morgan are trying
- 10:21Speaker 1: to find out who's sending all these gifts. I was
- 10:23Speaker 1: super drawn to this storyline. I thought it was interesting.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I thought it was compelling. There was this one scene
- 10:30Speaker 1: where they did a flashback, which I was like, thank
- 10:33Speaker 1: you for doing that. Instead of just telling us the story,
- 10:36Speaker 1: we got to see a flashback. I thought that was
- 10:40Speaker 1: super done well.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Overall... Color.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Me stunned, but I thought the script was pretty damn good.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I did too. And I didn't feel like we were,
- 10:50Speaker 2: it felt like we did justice to these individual stories
- 10:54Speaker 2: that we were weaving. The main story is kind of
- 10:57Speaker 2: like a cross between Gabe and Morgan's love story and
- 11:00Speaker 2: then the Uncle Tommy mystery. We have all these other
- 11:04Speaker 2: small storylines. We have the pregnant sister. We have the
- 11:07Speaker 2: running gag with the high cholesterol foods, right? We've got
- 11:11Speaker 2: the sister's husband who's kind of a doofus.
- 11:15Speaker 1: A little bit. Yeah, right.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But they were all done justice and carried through. Like,
- 11:21Speaker 2: we were picking up the threads at the appropriate moments.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I'm kind of surprised. First-time writers? I'm impressed. I'm impressed, honestly.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I'm impressed.
- 11:32Speaker 1: There were some great lines too. Oh, yeah. When they
- 11:36Speaker 1: go to meet Trish, because they need some help locating Mia, right?
- 11:42Speaker 1: And she says, social media stalking is an art and
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'm Michelangelo.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I was like, what?
- 11:50Speaker 1: It felt very relatable, first of all. But I was like,
- 11:55Speaker 1: that was so good. And then there was all these
- 11:57Speaker 1: little jabs from Gabe's like, co-workers or santa his friends
- 12:03Speaker 1: when they were like giving him a hard time about
- 12:05Speaker 1: his crush on morgan i all of it i thought
- 12:09Speaker 1: it was really good the stuff with the sister and
- 12:12Speaker 1: her saying like i'm following these influencers yep morgan reacting
- 12:17Speaker 1: to it like i thought it was really funny i
- 12:20Speaker 1: thought the light way that they turned that trish moment
- 12:23Speaker 1: into like a godfather oh my god yep great like
- 12:28Speaker 1: it's done with a real light touch but it's great
- 12:31Speaker 1: yeah I agree which is kind of funny too because
- 12:33Speaker 1: they said the line and I don't know what it
- 12:35Speaker 1: is from the Godfather but it's like here on the
- 12:38Speaker 1: day of my whatever they use that in Gilmore Girls
- 12:42Speaker 1: too and only because I've seen Gilmore Girls so many
- 12:44Speaker 1: times and our writer appeared in Gilmore Girls I don't
- 12:49Speaker 1: know I don't believe like she was in during that
- 12:53Speaker 1: season but she could have been yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I'd be curious to know if she's a fan of
- 12:56Speaker 2: the show Of Gilmore Girls? Yeah. Just because she was
- 13:00Speaker 2: on it. April Nardini. No, I understand she was on it,
- 13:03Speaker 2: but that doesn't mean she watched. Did she watch the
- 13:05Speaker 2: other seasons? You know, is she like, I smell snow?
- 13:08Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Does she also think that the April Nardini storyline is
- 13:13Speaker 2: a little bit BS?
- 13:15Speaker 1: And that people really hate that character. I mean. They
- 13:19Speaker 1: think April Nardini ruined the show.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And Anna Nardini, her mother, was a trash bag with
- 13:25Speaker 2: Never Telling Luke.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I know. I know.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I mean, we could have our own Gilmore Girls podcast here.
- 13:31Speaker 1: We know a lot about it.
- 13:33Speaker 2: We've discussed it. I know.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I know.
- 13:36Speaker 2: We panicked at the idea of the number of episodes
- 13:38Speaker 2: it would take.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It's a lot of episodes. It certainly is.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Let's get back to bills. Okay.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You talked about a big cast. The cameos were also
- 13:47Speaker 1: very fun in this, I thought. I kind of loved
- 13:50Speaker 1: Andrew Walker as just this bartender. I mean, he barely
- 13:53Speaker 1: has any lines and it's totally fine. I remember when
- 13:57Speaker 1: this movie got announced and everybody was like, oh, Andrew
- 13:59Speaker 1: Walker is going to be the lead. Andrew Walker is
- 14:00Speaker 1: going to be the lead. And then he ends up
- 14:02Speaker 1: with like this tiny little cameo part in it. Do
- 14:04Speaker 1: you remember? Of course. Yeah. So it was fun to
- 14:07Speaker 1: see him in there.
- 14:08Speaker 2: He has one of the best lines in the movie.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Which was what?
- 14:12Speaker 2: At the end of her date, he says, wherever you
- 14:14Speaker 2: met him, go there less.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yes, you're right.
- 14:18Speaker 2: You're right.
- 14:19Speaker 1: You're right. Yeah, that date was funny. I was like,
- 14:22Speaker 1: oh my God. Did you enjoy seeing Tyler Hines in
- 14:24Speaker 1: Hunter King?
- 14:25Speaker 2: I loved it. Made no sense, but I loved it.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And the only reason, because like Tyler works in football,
- 14:33Speaker 1: so maybe like Yeah, and maybe.
- 14:36Speaker 2: The Chiefs were playing the Bills. Who knows? It was cute, though.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Can we have a reindeer? Yeah, I thought I was
- 14:42Speaker 2: happy to see them. Yeah, I thought that was cute.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And then all the Bills players, I loved it. I
- 14:49Speaker 1: only recognized one of them, but I'm sure the Bills
- 14:54Speaker 1: fans who are watching this were probably pretty stoked. Yeah,
- 14:59Speaker 1: it didn't do a lot for me, but you could
- 15:01Speaker 1: tell the moments where there was someone significant on screen.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And I was like, I bet someone's really excited about
- 15:07Speaker 1: that moment right there. Yeah. And it's cool, too, because
- 15:11Speaker 1: I was looking at the cast list, and it's like
- 15:15Speaker 1: a big range over the history of the franchise. Yeah,
- 15:21Speaker 1: so that's pretty cool. Pretty cool. And also cameo. I
- 15:25Speaker 1: love that the same Santa is used.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yes, I love that this Santa exists within the Holiday
- 15:32Speaker 2: Touchdown universe. I thought that was great.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Which leads me to believe there'll be another one.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I hope so. I actually kind of hope so. This
- 15:40Speaker 2: one was done well. Speaking of cameos, if I may,
- 15:44Speaker 2: we had heard that Jake from Finding Mr. Christmas was
- 15:48Speaker 2: going to be in this movie. And I watched the
- 15:52Speaker 2: movie and then I got to the end and I realized,
- 15:54Speaker 2: oh no, I didn't see Jake. And so I scrubbed
- 15:56Speaker 2: back through the movie and.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I still didn't see Jake.
- 15:59Speaker 2: So I messaged Jake and he says, I was in
- 16:01Speaker 2: two scenes for a total of probably one second combined.
- 16:07Speaker 2: He was in the Elm Street Bakery. He's sitting behind
- 16:09Speaker 2: the Bills players. I think you see a glimpse of
- 16:11Speaker 2: me as the couple is walking out. And he is
- 16:15Speaker 2: a background shopper at Vidler's the second time they are
- 16:19Speaker 2: in the store. Finding Mr.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Jake.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Finding Mr.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Jake, indeed.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But he's there. So that's very fun. That's fun. Can
- 16:30Speaker 2: I talk a second about Viddlers? Oh, yeah. Why is
- 16:32Speaker 2: this the five and dime of my dreams? I Googled it.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I was like, does this exist? And of course it does.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Did you start following them on Instagram?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I probably should do it for my personal account and
- 16:46Speaker 2: not from Girls Gone Hallmark. Whatever.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I love the idea of this like vintage five and
- 16:56Speaker 1: dime store. Like put that into my veins. I love
- 17:00Speaker 1: the warm, nostalgic, neighborhood-y feel it gives.
- 17:04Speaker 2: All the local flavor in this movie. Biddlers and then
- 17:08Speaker 2: a lot of food. We get the peanut stick, which
- 17:11Speaker 2: I had to look up what it is because I
- 17:12Speaker 2: couldn't quite tell.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Same.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It's like a donut for the listeners. Dipped in a glaze,
- 17:18Speaker 2: rolled in chopped peanuts. Yes. And a beef on weck?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Did you know what a beef on weck is? I don't.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It is a thinly sliced roast beef sandwich piled on
- 17:30Speaker 2: a kummelweck roll, which is a Kaiser-style roll, often dipped
- 17:34Speaker 2: in au jus.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'm down for that.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yes. I just thought they did a really nice job
- 17:40Speaker 2: of infusing all of these bits of buffalo into the movie.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Totally. Totally. You know what else I really liked about
- 17:48Speaker 1: this movie?
- 17:48Speaker 2: What?
- 17:49Speaker 1: Was the stadium subplot?
- 17:52Speaker 2: That it was their last year in the stadium?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yes. And so this is news to me.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I like Googled. Yes, it's true.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Like they are currently building a new stadium. And I mean,
- 18:04Speaker 1: obviously we saw the shots. Like you can see the
- 18:06Speaker 1: new stadium being built almost in the parking lot of
- 18:08Speaker 1: the old stadium, right? I just thought it was, I'm like,
- 18:12Speaker 1: who came up with that idea? Like, was that just
- 18:14Speaker 1: a like a supplemental story piece? After it was written,
- 18:20Speaker 1: you know, like, oh, hey, by the way, we're building
- 18:22Speaker 1: this new stadium. Let's make Gabe be part of that project.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. But I liked it.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And I got, like, overly emotional when Gabe is, like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: at work and he's talking to his team about, like,
- 18:36Speaker 1: be proud of what we built. My grandfather both built
- 18:39Speaker 1: the original Highmark. And, like, I feel him when I
- 18:42Speaker 1: go there and blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I was like, this is so good. Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Question about that scene. I watched it twice.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Do you think that all of those employees are actual
- 18:53Speaker 2: employees or background actors? That is a good question.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 2: You should go back and rewatch it because it was
- 18:58Speaker 2: very interesting to me when I was watching it because
- 19:02Speaker 2: something about that scene, I was like, I feel like
- 19:04Speaker 2: I should be noticing something here. Now, they could just
- 19:07Speaker 2: be day player actors. I do know that this movie
- 19:10Speaker 2: had a huge stable of background actors. Obviously, we have
- 19:15Speaker 2: all those crowd scenes and they had a call for
- 19:17Speaker 2: background actors. I just wondered something about that scene. I
- 19:20Speaker 2: was like, maybe these are actual Bills employees or background actors.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 19:25Speaker 2: If anybody knows, let us know.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Maybe Keith Costumes knows. Maybe.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And finally, my last like was when they, Gabe surprises them. Well, actually,
- 19:39Speaker 1: Gabe's two surprises I really liked when they honor the
- 19:42Speaker 1: service member. Loved it. Loved that scene. Loved it, loved
- 19:47Speaker 1: it so much. And then gave surprises them again. They
- 19:49Speaker 1: all get to take their photo and then like be
- 19:51Speaker 1: on the field and play a game. And I just
- 19:54Speaker 1: loved all of it.
- 19:56Speaker 2: They're so excited. You mean we get to go on
- 19:58Speaker 2: the field? They're almost less excited about the Bills franchise
- 20:02Speaker 2: members there than they are about the chance to go
- 20:05Speaker 2: on their field. Yeah. That tribute moment, I just want
- 20:08Speaker 2: to say that I feel like that moment honors the
- 20:10Speaker 2: military in a way I would have liked to have
- 20:12Speaker 2: seen in another movie this season that shall remain nameless.
- 20:16Speaker 2: And the hero speech we get from Joey Pants is
- 20:19Speaker 2: really lovely.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 2: One more production note. The way we have sportscasters, sports
- 20:26Speaker 2: flavor discussion over the opening of the movie, over Holland
- 20:32Speaker 2: getting ready, moving throughout her day, and then we have
- 20:34Speaker 2: it later on going into the game. I think it's
- 20:36Speaker 2: just a nice touch that adds a lot of depth
- 20:40Speaker 2: to the movie when we're talking about football.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that. I agree. Me too. I don't
- 20:46Speaker 1: have any wishes.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Really?
- 20:48Speaker 1: I have one.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I had such a long list. Tell me what your
- 20:51Speaker 2: wishes are.
- 20:52Speaker 1: My one wish is why make Morgan a doctor if
- 20:58Speaker 1: she never goes to work?
- 21:00Speaker 2: The lady is never at work. Make her.
- 21:04Speaker 1: An office manager at the hospital, a community liaison, a fundraiser, something.
- 21:09Speaker 1: A doctor, she would have to be there all the time.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And she spent more time with Gabe. You're not wrong there.
- 21:15Speaker 2: At one point, she's like, I have to work early
- 21:16Speaker 2: in the morning. I was like, you really aren't at
- 21:18Speaker 2: work very often. Not at all.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I don't know if you caught it. This is not
- 21:22Speaker 1: a did you see that, but her name is Morgan Quinn.
- 21:25Speaker 1: She's Dr. Quinn. That's funny. That's medicine woman. I was like,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I wonder if that's on purpose.
- 21:32Speaker 2: That is funny. Let's talk did you see that. Okay.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I have a few.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You mentioned peanut sticks already. That was on my did
- 21:40Speaker 1: you see that? Because I was like, what is a
- 21:41Speaker 1: peanut stick? I didn't realize it was a donut. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: thought it was like a dessert of something. But do
- 21:48Speaker 1: they have those on the West Coast and they're just
- 21:49Speaker 1: called something else?
- 21:51Speaker 2: I don't know. When I Googled it, it was like
- 21:53Speaker 2: a Western New York specialty.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yeah. So interesting.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Do we have like a New York deli here? I
- 22:02Speaker 2: don't know where they would have them.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Let me know.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Question there was a chair in their home is it
- 22:08Speaker 2: on your did you see that.
- 22:10Speaker 1: The chair the chair at morgan's mom house yes i
- 22:13Speaker 1: had the exact same chair i was like the ecat
- 22:16Speaker 1: fabric yes i did i was like i know that
- 22:18Speaker 1: chair wendy's dog ate that chair yeah i couldn't believe
- 22:23Speaker 1: it when i saw it because we ended up throwing
- 22:26Speaker 1: that chair away because the dog had chewed on the
- 22:28Speaker 1: like arm of it right she was a puppy uh
- 22:32Speaker 1: when we moved we got rid of it but i
- 22:33Speaker 1: was like ah that's.
- 22:35Speaker 2: My old chair and i miss it.
- 22:38Speaker 1: It's a cute chair so funny that you you noticed.
- 22:45Speaker 2: That you instantly recognized it i was like did they
- 22:47Speaker 2: have your chair oh my god another did to see
- 22:51Speaker 2: that ice bikes have you ever seen ice bikes i
- 22:54Speaker 2: don't even know what you're talking when they went At
- 22:57Speaker 2: the ice skating rink, they had bikes that you could
- 22:59Speaker 2: sit on and pedal. Ice bikes.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I've never seen that before.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yes. Did it sound like I was saying spikes?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Ice bicycles.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I was like, I could get behind this because I
- 23:10Speaker 2: cannot ice skate to save my life, but perhaps I
- 23:12Speaker 2: could ice bike. It looks fun.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Did the wheels actually turn on the, like the
- 23:19Speaker 1: tires turn on the ice? That makes it go?
- 23:21Speaker 2: I don't know the physics of it, but I do
- 23:23Speaker 2: like the idea of sitting down and having less opportunity
- 23:29Speaker 2: to break a wrist. Oh, you and me both. Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I have one last did you see that, and I'm
- 23:37Speaker 2: sure you have it too. The five gold rings now
- 23:40Speaker 2: playing on the movie marquee, a Holland Rodin movie from
- 23:43Speaker 2: last year. Multiple times.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I was like, once is enough, but multiple times. Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 1: They should have changed it out and put like a
- 23:53Speaker 1: different one up there.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Holidays.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You know, something.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Whatever. That would have been funny.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I did notice it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Time for him to come home for Christmas.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Because that did have the.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Same feel, like they're on this quest to find this person.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And wasn't Tyler Hines in that movie too?
- 24:11Speaker 2: He was. Is her?
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I have one more. Did you see that?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Okay. During the game scene where we see the Bills playing,
- 24:20Speaker 1: they're playing like a no-name opponent.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Oh, interesting.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, who are they playing? Who are
- 24:27Speaker 1: they playing? And they're just like in like these white uniforms.
- 24:31Speaker 1: They don't say like they're playing.
- 24:32Speaker 2: That's so funny.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I didn't even notice. Chargers. If the Chargers even play
- 24:36Speaker 1: the Bills, I don't know.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Well, because it was filmed in June, right? So they're
- 24:39Speaker 2: like probably just two, both sides are Bills players out there.
- 24:45Speaker 2: No idea.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I don't know if that was like stock footage from
- 24:48Speaker 1: from another from like an actual game game. It couldn't
- 24:52Speaker 1: have been because then they would have had uniforms on. Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know. I don't know either.
- 24:59Speaker 2: But, you know, that's funny because it was filmed in June.
- 25:01Speaker 2: But that end scene, they're all wet. Yes, I did
- 25:06Speaker 2: notice that. So was it raining or was it the
- 25:11Speaker 2: fake snow make? What was happening there?
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't know. Huh.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Because, like, Holland's hair was wet and wavy and interesting. Okay.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yep.
- 25:20Speaker 2: And they were wet at the game. Joey, the on-field presentation,
- 25:24Speaker 2: they were kind of wet.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I wonder if it was raining. All right.
- 25:29Speaker 1: That was definitely green screen, though, right?
- 25:32Speaker 2: On the field? Was it green screen?
- 25:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think– I think the crowd– yes, I
- 25:37Speaker 2: don't think there was a full stadium in that moment.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Got it. But they were outside. I mean, they seemed
- 25:42Speaker 2: like they were actually on the field. Just not in
- 25:46Speaker 2: the middle of a game.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Hey, what did you rate A Bill's Love Story?
- 25:52Speaker 1: I'm shocked more than anybody. I gave it 4.25 stars.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I gave it four and a half stars.
- 25:58Speaker 2: What is happening? I loved it. I loved it. Yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 2: I really liked it too. I'm like, I wonder if
- 26:05Speaker 2: my husband would watch this. Simply because it's a football movie. Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 1: You know? Yeah. Be his gateway. I don't know.
