- 0:05Hey ebook babes, welcome back to 2 girls 1 TBR your chaotic book
- 0:08besties here to wreck your reading list one more the Gray
- 0:11man at a time I'm. Rebecca and I'm Heather, you can
- 0:14find me at at Kindle Me Reading on IG.
- 0:18And I'm Chelsea, so. Today we have the Massa Queen of
- 0:22the Ever Seas herself, LJ Andrews, in the studio.
- 0:26We're talking pirates, Vikings, bone jewelry, and highly
- 0:30anticipated release of the stolen crown this fall.
- 0:33That's super exciting. So exciting.
- 0:35Yes, I love LJ, I've actually met her in person last summer
- 0:40with Melissa K Rourke. And they're fun do together to
- 0:44begin with, but they're just very nice people, very friendly.
- 0:48So I think today is just going to be a lot of us just hanging
- 0:52out. It'll be great.
- 0:53Yeah, I got to meet her at Romantic Econ.
- 0:56Oh, that's right. She was next to Melissa.
- 0:58But I didn't get to see them interact together.
- 1:00And I wish, I wish I had that experience.
- 1:03But yes, you're, you're so right that they're just like really
- 1:06cool down to earth people. Very much so.
- 1:09No, Chelsea, you were talking about romantic Secon and you saw
- 1:12her? Yeah.
- 1:13Did you get to give her one of your?
- 1:14Dragons. Yes.
- 1:15She picked like a pearlish white one.
- 1:19Cute. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:20So she has one. You know, did you?
- 1:23Finish ever king, did you? I know you were starting.
- 1:25No, I started. It's so good.
- 1:28I really like her writing style. It's it's very like, I don't
- 1:33know how to describe it. Like punchy?
- 1:36Yeah. Well, it's just like it's not,
- 1:40it's just so unique, you know, like it's not just like she uses
- 1:44different phrases for everything, you know, it's not
- 1:47children, it's littles and things like that.
- 1:49And I really enjoy it so. Years or turns.
- 1:53Turns. Yeah.
- 1:55She kind of creates, like, her own language.
- 1:58Yeah. Inside the story.
- 2:00So when you read it, it feels like you're part of this
- 2:03universe. A different universe, yes,
- 2:05exactly so. But you still get it.
- 2:08But it takes a minute to, like, get used to it, you know?
- 2:10And I like that, yeah. If you do the audiobooks, they,
- 2:16the way they read it too, it's very Norse in a way where when I
- 2:22read like her Broken Souls and Bones before that was an
- 2:25audiobook, I read it and it reads kind like in a certain
- 2:31kind of, but umm, but umm, but umm, yeah.
- 2:34And I think the audiobooks help me understand that because I was
- 2:38trying to just like read it like how I normally read books and
- 2:42stuff, like in my own head, my own way.
- 2:45And I was like, no, I think they're saying it like this and
- 2:49makes more sense that way, kind of like slow it down and think
- 2:51about the accents that they might have, right.
- 2:55And it brings it the words together a little better.
- 3:00It's like more I don't even know how to say.
- 3:02Like it's more like Shakespeare ish.
- 3:04In a way, yeah. You know, like, I don't know,
- 3:06kind of. Clipped Yeah, yeah, there's not
- 3:09much like she doesn't like fluff stuff.
- 3:11There's not a lot of extra wording like it is like it is
- 3:18what it is. You have to be kind of like,
- 3:20yeah, it's like, it's just like that good, like banter and the
- 3:24good dialogue where it's like, you got to keep up.
- 3:26Like you have to like, know what they're taught, you know?
- 3:29Yes, and there's no like repetition, right?
- 3:32And so, so like if you got the joke earlier and it's like
- 3:36brought back, it's it's one of those like fun.
- 3:39Like I remember them like laughing about that.
- 3:42Now look where they are, you know?
- 3:44Yeah. So she does a really good job
- 3:47with that kind of flow. Yeah.
- 3:50So yeah, I really like it. Yeah, I had to finish it, but I,
- 3:53I was, I was trying so hard to stay up last night and I was
- 3:56enjoying it, but I, I was so dead after the baby shower.
- 3:59I was like, OK. I need to go.
- 4:00Oh yeah, yeah. Now what do you girls are
- 4:03currently reading right now? I just finished an arc called
- 4:06the Weaver's Loom. So it's like a witchy but with
- 4:10shifters say, and what else is there?
- 4:15I can't remember. There's like 4 different oh
- 4:17fairies and they all have like different magics and stuff.
- 4:20And their immortality gets taken away so that they can be a part
- 4:23of the human society because the humans are always like hunting
- 4:27them and like hurting them kind of thing.
- 4:30And yeah, they're like back story stuff.
- 4:32But yeah, it was really good. And this inspector comes along,
- 4:38It kind of feels like a Sherlock Holmes and Watson kind of thing
- 4:41at first. Then it kind of gets more into
- 4:44like, the magical system of things.
- 4:46And she meets a lot of, like, hot guys that like, help her
- 4:50inspect and stuff. I'm like, Oh my gosh, which one
- 4:52are we picking here? Like, we've got a lot of
- 4:54candidates. This is great.
- 4:56Now is it is it a stand alone or is it a going to be a series?
- 5:00I think it's a duology. Book 1 ends well.
- 5:05So like it ends what is happening in book one.
- 5:09It concludes, but then it also has that ending where it like
- 5:13kind of pushes what will be coming into Book 2.
- 5:17And there's not a lot of like there's not spice, like sex
- 5:23spice, but there's a lot of like yearning or like hidden closet
- 5:31kind of stuff or not like hallways, you know, like when
- 5:35they like tuck each. Other in.
- 5:37Because they they're like scared someone's walking by and like,
- 5:39let's not get caught. Let's act like we're together.
- 5:43So yeah, there's a lot of that, but not so much like the
- 5:47interconnection parts. So in Book 2 we might, I don't
- 5:51know, we might get something not connection.
- 5:55Lots. Yet, yeah.
- 5:57Interconnecting parts Chelsea, what are you reading?
- 6:02So the Ever King is my like physical book that I'm reading.
- 6:06I'm also started Throne of broken.
- 6:11Wait, Throne of Broken Thrones of Broken Gods, The second one
- 6:15of the Gods and Monsters by Amber.
- 6:17OK, OK, I know what you're talking about.
- 6:19OK, so the the book 2 that just came out because I have the I
- 6:22technically have the arc of that, but it's out and then
- 6:27that's my like kindle read and then I'm listening to because
- 6:32I'm still in the blood and ash series.
- 6:34But you're. Still, you're still in that.
- 6:38That's the war. That's the War of 2 Queens.
- 6:41OK, I think that's the book I finished or and definitely
- 6:44skimmed the end of it. And then I was like, yeah, I'm
- 6:47good. That was the last book I read of
- 6:49that series. Yeah, I am so ready for it to
- 6:52be. How?
- 6:53Many How many more books do you have to go?
- 6:57At least one more. There was like 2 more after.
- 7:00That it could be two, it could be.
- 7:02Again, I like. Them I finally so I have never
- 7:05really listened to audiobooks on a faster speed because I kind of
- 7:10just like enjoy hearing, you know, normal speed, but this one
- 7:14I have finally kicked it up because I'm like I'm so done.
- 7:17It's making me fall asleep while I'm driving.
- 7:19Yeah. And so we need to get through
- 7:21this damn thing. And I remember reading that book
- 7:26and for some reason, what's his name, the wolf or in or
- 7:30something? And I, I was like, why does his
- 7:34voice seem different? And I felt I felt like somebody
- 7:39else was writing the story at that point, like a good ghost
- 7:42writer or somebody on her team finished the book for her or
- 7:46something cuz it did not sound like hearing anymore.
- 7:48He starts like cussing more like every other words, like a cuss
- 7:51word and he doesn't explain much.
- 7:55He just kind of like says the same things over and over again
- 7:58and it just runs on. And I was like, OK, where's this
- 8:04character going? Like, he was really good at the
- 8:07beginning and then towards the end I'm like, this is getting
- 8:09boring. Like, this is really bad.
- 8:11Like the guy needs a few more words to say to like, express
- 8:14himself. Yeah, well, and there's kind of
- 8:17like a weird. But.
- 8:19There's kind of like a weird thing going on where like I
- 8:21can't tell if they're going to have a threesome or not.
- 8:24I know. Yeah.
- 8:25And I was like, all right, OK, we're getting somewhere, right?
- 8:28Because I'm bored and. Yeah.
- 8:30Then it's like, OK, so we're not.
- 8:32We are, we're not. It's like what is happening
- 8:35like. Do you love each other or not?
- 8:37What's going on? And then they're like all
- 8:39bonding and yeah, so. Do you think you'll finish it,
- 8:44Chelsea? Do you think she'll?
- 8:45Do you think you'll finish the series?
- 8:47Yeah, you know, I've never not finished something so I will
- 8:50hate read it till the very end. I will.
- 8:54So good. For you.
- 8:56Yeah. Then you can tell.
- 8:58You can tell Heather the ending. You get there, since she's not
- 9:02going to find out herself. If I, if I ever get there, I
- 9:05will, yeah. I'll let you know.
- 9:06I know. Oh man.
- 9:09No, no, I'm reading. I'm reading because we had
- 9:13Parker Garner on. I'm reading her.
- 9:15Your path is sorrow. Hey everyone, please welcome the
- 9:18incredible LJ Andrews, the author, the Pirate Queen, and
- 9:22the official wrecker of our TBRS.
- 9:25Yes. Welcome.
- 9:26How are you doing? I'm so good.
- 9:28How are you? Doing good.
- 9:31We're all we're having an exciting day.
- 9:33Heather's definitely having an exciting day with her boys.
- 9:35Yeah, it's a full moon. I could feel it, Yeah.
- 9:39Yeah. We're we're going to have.
- 9:41I am. So.
- 9:44So how have you been doing though?
- 9:45You have your new book coming out here this fall.
- 9:49Are you excited? I yes, I mean, it's short term
- 9:53for answer. Yes, Also very nervous, of
- 9:57course, because it's been delayed for quite a while.
- 10:00So I, you know, when something's been sitting so long, you're
- 10:03kind of like, OK, here it comes. It feels like it wasn't ever
- 10:06going to be here, but now it's here.
- 10:07So I'm excited. I'm actually reading through the
- 10:10last like run through before it starts getting printed, so it's
- 10:14pretty good. Yeah, very nice.
- 10:17And what day does that come out? October 6th in the USI believe
- 10:21it's the 8th in the UK so. Awesome.
- 10:24I'm excited. And that is book four in the
- 10:26Eversea. Series that's book 4, The Stolen
- 10:29Crown, so I'm excited. We have a huge party planned in
- 10:33Salt Lake City, so if anyone wants to come, we've got a lot
- 10:36of authors that are joining me and we're gonna do this big
- 10:39weekend event to celebrate just cuz it has been quite a while
- 10:42since we've sailed in the Everseas.
- 10:44So yeah, we have a huge event plan.
- 10:46It's gonna be really, really fun.
- 10:48So I hope people will join us. I'm sure people will be there.
- 10:52Yes. Absolutely.
- 10:54I would love to. I love Utah.
- 10:57I lived out in California, Arizona.
- 11:00I was a travel nurse for a long time, so I've been places.
- 11:03Yeah. And Utah is beautiful.
- 11:05Lake Powell is probably one of my favorites.
- 11:07It's so pretty in there, yeah. I love just the rock and it
- 11:13just, yeah, it's beautiful. It's it's a pretty state for
- 11:16sure. Yeah, it's got its places.
- 11:19Yeah, it does. It has some great places.
- 11:22Everywhere has those. Yeah, a lot of like dead along
- 11:27the way, but that's very pretty though in other.
- 11:30Words, the beauty. Well, see, I'm in Kentucky.
- 11:34I'm originally from Pennsylvania, but I'm in
- 11:35Kentucky. I'm in just on the outside of
- 11:38Louisville. So it was a big thing this past
- 11:41weekend because it was the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
- 11:44Yeah, I saw trainer one. Like mystery or something.
- 11:48Yep, she was the first female trainer to ever win the Kentucky
- 11:51Derby, and it's 152 years. Wow.
- 11:54Yeah. I saw that, yeah.
- 11:56Cool. And and you got to remember the
- 12:00race lasts 2 minutes. I mean all this and it's a pull
- 12:03big fanfare they do here in Louisville starting several
- 12:06weeks prior. They do Kentucky or Thunder over
- 12:09Louisville, which is the largest firework display in North
- 12:12America. They do this whole big thing and
- 12:16it comes rain or shine and it's always really cold and I don't
- 12:19go down there. I don't go down to the
- 12:21waterfront because when it's Thunder it could.
- 12:23You can run out of gas in your car trying to get out of the
- 12:26area downtown. So I do not go down there.
- 12:29But we could hear. We live probably about 20
- 12:31minutes to 1/2 hour outside of downtown.
- 12:35We could hear Thunder when it was happening here, but the But
- 12:39the whole big race and everything was this past weekend
- 12:41and everybody gets in there fancy dresses and yeah.
- 12:45That'd be fun. Tickets were expensive this
- 12:49year. If you wanted to be up in the
- 12:51stands, it was like $1400 for two people.
- 12:54Oh my God. That I think that was the
- 12:58starting price and I know the, I think it's, is it called the
- 13:01outfield or the infield? Whatever it is, those tickets
- 13:04for two people were like around $800.
- 13:06That's okay, I'll watch it on TV.
- 13:08Yeah. But that's the excitement here.
- 13:12And that's cool. Yeah, Now we also did something
- 13:17special in honor of that. You are being on the episode
- 13:20today because we do a sips and it's an alcoholic and a
- 13:25mocktails and that we have two different drinks in your honor.
- 13:29The first one, the alcoholic one is the Bone Jeweled Bride and
- 13:35the mocktail is the Tide Collars Mist.
- 13:38But we will have them up on our Instagram under the highlights
- 13:40under sips. So anybody who wants to try to
- 13:43make these fancy drinks. I like that they garnish it with
- 13:47they call it a coarse white sea salt is the bone rim my Oh yes
- 13:53boy and the blue rock candy for sea glass.
- 13:55I'm like. I love it.
- 13:57Love it. Oh, these are good.
- 14:01We have all all different kinds of recipes.
- 14:03We do this every episode we have a specific drink made for no
- 14:08matter what we're doing, and so far we're trying to get Heather
- 14:11to make them. I know I I'm the one with the
- 14:15fancy glasses and stuff. So they're trying to catch me
- 14:18into it, yeah. If we ever get well, if we ever
- 14:22get our Patreon going, if we ever start that, I said that
- 14:25would be a fun thing to do and people can come and watch
- 14:28Heather make some fancy drinks. Yeah, that'd be great.
- 14:33LJ has a big sound. Well, not even.
- 14:36I don't think you have found family.
- 14:37All your sisters, are they related to you or they found?
- 14:40Family, two of them are sister in laws and then my 1 is my
- 14:44older sister. So yeah, we are we're like
- 14:47family dinner people. We're going to Hawaii together
- 14:49in two weeks. So yeah, we're big family.
- 14:52I lucked out in the in laws. You know sometimes when you get
- 14:55marry and you don't always they're the best.
- 14:57Like my sister in the Aubrey, she's like, if I ever divorce
- 15:01your brother, I get you in the divorce, you know, like we've
- 15:04been really, really close so. That's actually nice.
- 15:07How many siblings do you have? I have two brothers and then my
- 15:10older sisters, so there's four of us.
- 15:12OK, 2. I'm a four.
- 15:14I'm the only girl in the middle. Oh, really?
- 15:16Yeah. Yeah, yeah, we.
- 15:18Had there. Yeah, I'm a middle child of
- 15:20five, but yeah. Yeah.
- 15:23I am the baby of my family, but there's only two of us.
- 15:27How many kids do you have, LJ? 4.
- 15:29Well, you have 40, so you have 4.
- 15:31Yeah. Girls, so you're crazy.
- 15:33Too at this point. Lucky.
- 15:35That's a good that's. Awesome.
- 15:37Though Yeah, so. My my oldest is going to be a
- 15:39senior next year. I was a baby having babies.
- 15:43I've like told her like she's like, how did you have me?
- 15:45And I was like, so I don't regret you in the least.
- 15:49But. May I encourage you see the
- 15:53world a little bit, go live a little, right?
- 15:57Yeah. And I was like, not that I
- 15:59regret you, right? Yeah.
- 16:03And then we have a 15 year old boy and a 13 year old boy.
- 16:06And then we have our little one who's 9.
- 16:09So nice little Princess. Yeah.
- 16:11Oh yes. Oh yes.
- 16:13Very opposite from her older sister.
- 16:14My oldest is like horse girl, like I live on the ranch and
- 16:18stuff, and then my other daughter's like fairy tales and
- 16:21she's going to be a fashion designer.
- 16:22She's so cute, though. It's like these little Barbie
- 16:24mannequins and she sews clothes for them.
- 16:26So wow, I'm going to see a fashion designer.
- 16:30I was like, OK, Cruella, like let's.
- 16:31Do that that's. Awesome.
- 16:33You know, I, I saw the other day like the do you remember those
- 16:37paper dolls? Yes.
- 16:39And you would fold the things over.
- 16:40To the open. She needs some of those, like I
- 16:43missed those so much, I've got to be able to find them
- 16:46somewhere. Oh, I'm sure we can buy.
- 16:48Like she had those. I don't know, the like Velcro
- 16:51ones where it's like a wooden doll and she could like the
- 16:53clothes on it. But yeah, now she's like
- 16:55legitimate sewing her own. I'm like, right sew.
- 16:58So my gosh, have you seen like I started doing this embroidery
- 17:02thing and this first one and I'm learning all these stitches and
- 17:07I'm 37 this year. I had to think about how old I
- 17:10was, but I'm like, I don't know how to sew, I don't know how to
- 17:15stitch and things like that. So a nine year old could best.
- 17:18Be man yeah, she's like a walk in.
- 17:21She's like got her little Barbie mannequin and she's like, I'm
- 17:24like, OK, do you go? I mean, it's better than just
- 17:27like I guess doing something else, but.
- 17:30Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's great.
- 17:33I remember Barbies. I think I was around 9 or 10
- 17:36when I was like, these aren't cool anymore, you know?
- 17:38So I wish she's utilizing them in all kinds of ways, right?
- 17:43Like we don't have to play them as much anymore.
- 17:45Yeah, but she's sewing on them. Yeah, smart lady.
- 17:50I saved some of my Barbies from when I was a little girl because
- 17:54I grew up in the 80s. So I have them.
- 17:56The one has like rim tear and stuff, and my daughter has those
- 18:01and she plays with them and, and then of course she has a few of
- 18:05her own, but I still have some of the clothes from my Barbie.
- 18:08But I never had like Barbie's dream house because that came
- 18:11out like when I was like too, like I was getting too big, you
- 18:15know what I mean? And then but she doesn't have
- 18:18Barbie's dream house because her room's only so big.
- 18:20So she has Barbie's Malibu house, and it's fancy, but it's
- 18:24neat, though it all collapses into itself and it's a small.
- 18:28Footprint then yeah, that's nice.
- 18:30My dad built us a Barbie house when I was a kid because I
- 18:33learned a lot. I never knew like that we didn't
- 18:36when we were little. My my parents were fine.
- 18:38They were like, well, off in like a way, but not like super,
- 18:41you know what I mean? And so I didn't know.
- 18:43And he's, I was like, I thought it was so cool.
- 18:44We had a house. And my dad's like, yeah, it's
- 18:45because we couldn't buy the dream house.
- 18:47So I was like, and like, you didn't even know.
- 18:50Like I was like, oh, this is better, you know what I mean?
- 18:52Yeah. My mom has all of our old
- 18:54Barbies still, though. It's funny to see.
- 18:56She even has hers like from the 50s and the 60s.
- 19:00Wow. Some of them, we keep those on a
- 19:02shelf like to be really careful with, right?
- 19:05Do you remember, do you ever see little Kittles, little these
- 19:08little tiny dolls? And they're like from like the
- 19:0950s and 60s. And so we have this house that
- 19:12my mom used to play with. So yeah, that's for the
- 19:15grandkids to be gentle with. Yes, yeah.
- 19:18Yeah. Yeah, there were so many cool
- 19:21things growing up that I wish we had saved for our kids.
- 19:26Yeah, it's kind of a bummer that we they.
- 19:28Don't make toys as good as they used to either.
- 19:30They break so easy now. Everything used to be durable.
- 19:34Yeah, yeah. I have, I, I had Rainbow Brite
- 19:40and I had, you know, my Care Bears and I had all those kind
- 19:44of things. My mom got rid of everything.
- 19:46But I did get to save my Barbies and I saved some of My Little
- 19:51Ponies. So my daughter does have those
- 19:54the. Original ones too.
- 19:56That's cool. And Cabbage Patch dolls.
- 19:58I had cabbage, yeah. Did you?
- 20:01I have the cabbage patch and I have three.
- 20:03Do you remember in the 80s they came out and it was like the
- 20:06preemies they had and it was all insane?
- 20:08I don't. Remember I was like so I don't
- 20:12remember. This well, I was born in 80.
- 20:14That's what year I was born. This would have happened like
- 20:16858687 somewhere in there. It was a whole big thing and
- 20:21people like moms lost their minds and they all had to go get
- 20:25these, the cabbage patched doll preemies.
- 20:27And I had and I have three of them.
- 20:29I have two. So that's crazy cool.
- 20:33Caitlin has them, and she has them in her room.
- 20:36I had. A Bitty Baby and American Girl
- 20:39dolls. I had American Girl dolls.
- 20:41Yeah, yeah, my daughter has American Girl dolls.
- 20:44Actually I still buy them for her because she likes it they.
- 20:46Have a lot of cool stuff. She's got Josephina, so cute.
- 20:51Nice. I had a Kristen or Kirsten.
- 20:54Oh, I had Kirsten. I didn't get a choice because
- 20:56we're Swedish and so that's why I ride Viking.
- 20:59And so my mom was like, you get Kirsten.
- 21:02Nice. I was going to ask you about
- 21:04that because all your books are like Norse mythology and I am
- 21:09like a second or third generation from Norway.
- 21:12So yeah. And so my great grandmother,
- 21:16yes, came over to, you know, Ellis Island from, Oh my.
- 21:21Norway, we have the grandmas that had the same story.
- 21:23Mine came from Sweden and she was funny about the Norwegians,
- 21:27just so you know, She was like, my mom would always say she's
- 21:29like all those Norwegians and stuff like that.
- 21:32So I guess they were a little rivalry a little.
- 21:35Probably Viking clans out there. You know, and the Danes and
- 21:39stuff like that. So yeah, that same thing went
- 21:41through Ellis Island and everything.
- 21:43So how far in that? Yeah.
- 21:45Have you come over and was like a nanny for her brother so.
- 21:49Cool. I think mine cleaned or
- 21:51something. Yeah, yeah, mine cleaned and
- 21:53then worked her way to the West. Nice.
- 21:56Yeah, my Nono came from Italy, Manono and Manoni, but they both
- 22:02came over like at the turn of the century from Italy.
- 22:06And I know Manono only had like $8 in his pocket and he lied to
- 22:10his children until we did genealogy and always said that
- 22:14he was an only child. And then we found out he was
- 22:16like one of eight. As soon as he, I guess when he
- 22:22left, he just left the old world behind is basically what it was.
- 22:26You know, they did that, though. My grandma from she hated her
- 22:29accent. I guess she was embarrassed by
- 22:31it. And I was like, oh, now we're
- 22:32like celebrating it. I'm like, yeah, my mom went and
- 22:35met like her cousins that are still in Sweden.
- 22:37She got to go back over and hang out with her because not the
- 22:40whole, the whole family didn't make it over.
- 22:42So yeah. Yeah, I.
- 22:44Always. If I have people over there.
- 22:47I do. Here he is.
- 22:48I bet you do. I bet you've had extended
- 22:49family. Over there I probably do.
- 22:51And you know, like generations, the older generations are either
- 22:56are lost early and the histories are brought down.
- 23:00And so I don't know a whole lot about that side of the family
- 23:04other than like I went and found her name on and stuff like that.
- 23:08So I yeah, maybe we. Just made it our whole
- 23:11personality. That was so great.
- 23:14Yeah, Oh, my daddy's side is Scottish, so we made that.
- 23:16Our whole personality was like. Heck yeah, we're.
- 23:19Going well, we're going next summer for romantic and rare.
- 23:23And so we're I'm bringing my kids this time.
- 23:25My dad's coming and he's going to go show like where our
- 23:27family, we were the Murrays and the Murdochs.
- 23:30Cool. So he's gonna go show like where
- 23:32our clan was and stuff like that.
- 23:34So. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:34We just sang to my employee because it's our birthday.
- 23:37We sing in Swedish, we sing happy birthday in Swedish.
- 23:40And so he just sang to my employee today.
- 23:43That's so. Cool.
- 23:44Yeah, what you all need to do is he's need to get your ancestry
- 23:48DNA and do it. I did mine.
- 23:50Now, I always have always told people I'm Italian because my,
- 23:54you know, my Nona Manana, you know, we're Italian in my
- 23:57family. I'm more than 50% of me is
- 24:00Scottish and Irish. I'm more that than anything but
- 24:03my but yeah, mine came from the Highlands of Scotland.
- 24:06And then my husband, he's Scottish.
- 24:09But you can trace them all the way back to Rolo because they
- 24:14were part of, they were the black strangers, they called
- 24:17them, they were from, from Normandy because the Vikings
- 24:21came down, took over Normandy. They left Normandy and went to
- 24:25Scotland and that's where they came in.
- 24:27So. But we can trace his heritage
- 24:29all the way back to Rolo the Vikings.
- 24:32Awesome. I know my husband's traced back
- 24:33to Ragnar. They must be related then.
- 24:37They probably are. And he has everything.
- 24:40I'm the peasants like we come from peasants for sure, like
- 24:43nothing. And he's like, I'm from Ragnar.
- 24:45And on his English side, he has a pirate in his genealogy.
- 24:49I'm like you, you're from kings. Get out of here.
- 24:53I'm the I'm like the peasant ones that barely made it.
- 24:59When I, when I did my husband's, you know, looking at his, you
- 25:02know, his family tree and that they, his family fought with
- 25:05William Wallace, they fought with, they were all involved
- 25:09over there in Scotland. They were all Lords and ladies.
- 25:12Right. I know my son, like when we go
- 25:15to our castle because we like Blair Castle is like where the
- 25:18Murrays and Murdox lived, I guess.
- 25:19Like what should we tell them? And I was like, they don't care.
- 25:22We left, we left Scotland. They don't like, they'll be
- 25:26like, you're not Scottish. Yeah.
- 25:29You'll be over there in that area.
- 25:31You'll see Seaton College and their Seaton Castle.
- 25:34And that was my husband's people.
- 25:36It was rebuilt the the whole castle I guess got like it had
- 25:40damp well because they fought all the time and they had
- 25:42damage. But then they took and they
- 25:44rebuilt the entire castle with the stone from the original 1.
- 25:49And it actually just sold like not long ago for like $8 million
- 25:54something like that. Because they completely revent
- 25:56renovated it and like people have weddings and all this.
- 25:58But I guess I think now it might be a private residence again.
- 26:02But you can see it though. My retirement dream is to buy a
- 26:05cottage in the Highlands and live there with my goats.
- 26:08Yes, I know I really wanted to go to Edinburgh Romanus Econ,
- 26:14but I did tell my husband about it and he can't.
- 26:18He didn't say no. Heather, let's do it right?
- 26:23And it's during my birthday. In July.
- 26:25So yeah. So I'm like, we could make it a
- 26:28thing. Yeah, it's I love romance.
- 26:32I was already going to rare London and so that's why I'm
- 26:35only one day at Romanus. Yeah, they're right.
- 26:40So London's on the 17th, so I'm just doing 15th and romantic
- 26:44econ and then we're going taking a train to England.
- 26:49So love. Your that would be super fun,
- 26:52yeah. I've never been to England so
- 26:54I'm excited to go see England too.
- 26:56See, that's where half of my family is.
- 26:58Really. Seriously.
- 26:59Yeah, I'm there. So yeah, we have.
- 27:01I mean, we have Scottish roots, too.
- 27:03Our cousins had, like you said, your family made it their whole
- 27:06personality. Like, so my cousins went to
- 27:08Scotland and found, like, all the grave sites of our family
- 27:11and everything and now. And they wore kilts to my
- 27:13wedding. And I absolutely loved it.
- 27:15It was awesome. And then but my mom's, so my mom
- 27:20came over from England when she was 2.
- 27:21So that whole house. So you're like.
- 27:23Way close to England then. Yeah, so I have cousins over
- 27:26there. We I just got to go see them
- 27:28last May and. Tell me all the cool spots to go
- 27:31see. Oh, my goodness.
- 27:32Yeah, I'll. Maybe I can get you a list from
- 27:34my cousin because I've never been around.
- 27:37Yeah, you'll love it. I we had such a great time.
- 27:39I just wish it could have been longer.
- 27:41Of course. Like never.
- 27:42I don't know, when I go out of country, I'm just like, it's
- 27:45almost like this sounds stupid, but like the roots are calling
- 27:49to you. You almost like belong.
- 27:50Here yes yeah and that was how it felt for me I was like I feel
- 27:54like I should live here because like all my.
- 27:57Family and I was like, this is where I belong.
- 27:59Yeah, Yeah, I think there that that is like a real, it's a real
- 28:04thing for. I'm curious.
- 28:05I want to go to Scandinavia to see if it's the same, because
- 28:07it's, you know, that's the other half.
- 28:08And I'm like, yeah, I want to. Go.
- 28:10That's cool. And imagine just like the
- 28:12inspiration, like you're already writing from that inspo, but
- 28:16like to actually be immersed in it.
- 28:18Yeah, yeah. I would like to actually meet
- 28:21family members that like, don't know, you know what I mean?
- 28:23That'd be cool, yeah. I think you do.
- 28:25Ancestry.com you can find them and do your.
- 28:27Well, mine got. I did.
- 28:28My husband and I did it for Black Friday and he got his
- 28:31back. But mine, they're like
- 28:32something's wrong, you did it wrong, so I can do it again.
- 28:36It takes. Well, if you do ancestry.com and
- 28:40then every so often because more technology or whatever happens,
- 28:44it goes even deeper. Mine has updated multiple times
- 28:48because again, I always told everyone I'm Italian and I know
- 28:53my grandma, I know where they came from.
- 28:54They came from up in the northern part of in the Tuscan
- 28:57area up there in Italy. I know they came from there.
- 29:00She came from Torino, He came from Fomaco.
- 29:02I know where they came from and I know that I'm related to them,
- 29:06that my wasn't that my mom was someone else.
- 29:10But but it says 2%. That's all that in my DNA.
- 29:14That's. Well, my mom, she thought she
- 29:16was mostly like would have more Swedish in her, but she did it.
- 29:20And she's like, no, I'm more the Irish and the Scottish and
- 29:23stuff, but she's still like, but I'm still Swedish.
- 29:27We know you're Swedish. I.
- 29:30Love it but now now if you saw my husband and you saw my
- 29:33children, you would they're not they don't look anything like me
- 29:36and my coloring or anything my. Husband's red hair.
- 29:38Oh. Yeah, my husband.
- 29:40I'm the only person that tans in my house.
- 29:43My husband has red hair, my daughter has long red hair.
- 29:46My boys are strawberry blondes, but.
- 29:49That's my family. Being.
- 29:50Strong Hawaii and my uncle and my cousins are coming and he's
- 29:54Hawaiian. And so I'm like, we're going to
- 29:56be sitting next to my cousins and they're going to be looking
- 29:59all like they're locals. And then there's me who's at
- 30:02least my uncle still makes fun because we've been before with
- 30:04him and he's like, remember when you turn into a lobster?
- 30:07I was like, I do. I actually Remember Me.
- 30:09He's like, ready for that again. Yeah, like get out of here.
- 30:14It's funny when you're like out, like I have so much sunscreen on
- 30:18and I'll still turn red. And it's like my feet and.
- 30:22People are like, your shoulders look really like purple.
- 30:25I'm like, no, if I go in the water and cool off, it goes
- 30:27away. But they're very concerned.
- 30:30About me and my son, I'm like I have sunscreen on my kids have
- 30:34never been and they're coming. And my daughter the oldest, she
- 30:37gets actually like she'll vomit like she'll be get sick and like
- 30:40heat and I have warned her I was like, girl, the sun is
- 30:44different. They're like it is so close to
- 30:46the equator like it's hot. You've got she's like, I want to
- 30:49wear a bikini and I was like great, have a swimming suit
- 30:52cover, please. I'm like, yeah, this yesterday.
- 30:55Well, I told her yesterday because she's just like mom and
- 30:58I'm like, fine, I have warned you.
- 30:59You were almost 18 years old. I have done my duty.
- 31:02You can burn, yes, you will scorch so.
- 31:06I was the I have to learn my lesson to understand.
- 31:10I have a feeling it's going to be I'm like, what did?
- 31:15I say yeah. So I was purple one day and then
- 31:19had blisters. And I was like.
- 31:21I I told you and I was like, you can do.
- 31:25I was a teenager and I was like, I know how to do the tanning.
- 31:30Yeah. You see, I burn a little bit
- 31:34like the first, like like the first time I really go out, I'll
- 31:37have like, I'll get burnt like a little bit on my shoulders after
- 31:40that. Then I tan and then I just keep
- 31:41getting darker. But I'm not, but I'm not like my
- 31:44one cousin, my she has Sicilian in her because her dad has
- 31:47Sicilian. She gets so dark.
- 31:50When I got married the first time, they had gone to down to
- 31:53North Carolina, to the beach and they came back like a few days
- 31:58before I was getting married. She was so dark.
- 32:02I have never seen her get that tan.
- 32:04And like her, her daughter, her son, they were all just, I mean,
- 32:07I've never seen people tan like them.
- 32:09I'm she, I don't think she's ever burnt a day in her life.
- 32:12She's one of those people. I burn and then peel it off and
- 32:15then I'm white. Yeah.
- 32:17It's my. Husband, that is hilarious.
- 32:23But you said two weeks from now you're going to be on that
- 32:25beach. I envy you so much.
- 32:27Me too. Excited.
- 32:29I've never been to Hawaii. It's beautiful, I actually love
- 32:33it so much. It's expensive but this is for
- 32:35my dad's retirement. So we've been planning this for
- 32:37like 7 years and it's like that whole family.
- 32:39That's why my aunt and uncle are coming and so like that so.
- 32:41It's going to be island. We're doing Oahu for the kids
- 32:44because I think they should see like the Polynesian Culture
- 32:46Center and Pearl Harbor and things like that.
- 32:48And then then we're doing Kauai. That's our favorite item.
- 32:51This is like paradise, you know what I mean?
- 32:53Are you doing? North or South?
- 32:56I don't know, Princess. I forget what it's called.
- 33:00The one I that one. It sounds familiar because I've
- 33:03been yes, the yes, I know that's not the main like I can't like
- 33:07think of the whole Maui. I'm thinking of koi poo and
- 33:09that's Maui that we I think is koi poo.
- 33:12What I'm thinking of? The South end of Kauai.
- 33:15That might be where we're going. OK, that was cool.
- 33:17Too familiar? There's.
- 33:19A lot of zip lining down there and like cool like like walkways
- 33:24like you go up in the trees and do like.
- 33:26Why just tell the kids I was like, get ready for the
- 33:27chickens. Like there's lots of chickens.
- 33:29Yes, there is some Ponchilla chickens there.
- 33:32Yes, you're like what? Interesting.
- 33:34Yeah, they just grow their wild. Worm.
- 33:36They told us last time we were there they had a big storm.
- 33:38It broke a lot of chickens out and they've just multiplied, so
- 33:41now they have wild chickens. Awesome.
- 33:45I, I was watching this, this guy, there are two comedians,
- 33:48they're very funny and they have a podcast together.
- 33:52And the one he's like very oblivious to things that are
- 33:57common knowledge to most people. And he thought that when they
- 34:02say like when you get your chicken eggs in that when they
- 34:04say free range, he thought that they were just going out and
- 34:08finding random wild chickens. I don't know where these wild
- 34:12chickens were, but and he thought that's where they were
- 34:14just going and finding them and getting their eggs.
- 34:16OK. And this is a grown man.
- 34:18And that was one of his thoughts.
- 34:19That's. Interesting I.
- 34:23Don't. They're the same ones they did.
- 34:25I don't know if you ever seen the clip, it was they were
- 34:28playing Call of Duty together. I was oh.
- 34:35My God, you know the the in all the history of Call of Duty, you
- 34:39know he remember he was like this wallpaper, so cute.
- 34:42I could live here. That's what he said.
- 34:44He's like we've got all these gamers and then he's like we're
- 34:46the 2 gay guys and like this wallpaper.
- 34:51And they were and they both were the female characters.
- 34:54So, so. And then they of course died
- 34:56immediately. And he said they all screamed
- 34:58and he's. I love Matteo, he's and.
- 35:02You have to listen to him when he talks about the.
- 35:03Eggs. I love Nick.
- 35:07He is. He's like, like not no common
- 35:08sense. Like he has absolutely no common
- 35:10sense but I love him so much. And, and, and it's, it's funny
- 35:15because they'll, they'll say stuff and he'll say different
- 35:18things. And they're like, like.
- 35:19Where do I get this super Italian like he's super?
- 35:22Oh yeah, Oh yeah, he is. I, I just love YouTube.
- 35:26You girls have to watch them because they're funny.
- 35:28They're very funny. They're like best friends and.
- 35:31And yes, Nick's always like, I don't look like I'm gay.
- 35:34And he's, like, wearing women's clothes and potatoes, like,
- 35:41yeah. Oh yeah, You just have to watch
- 35:43them because they're, they're hilarious.
- 35:45I, I follow them. They're I.
- 35:46Love them. They're the great.
- 35:48They're the best. I'm like, I love that I knew
- 35:51exactly who you were talking about.
- 35:53I'm like, I think I know it. It's just got to be Nick.
- 35:57And he's and he has a real deep and when you hear his voice and
- 36:00stuff because his voice doesn't even match with what you're
- 36:03looking at him. Well, he's.
- 36:04Mateo calls him Squidward, which I was like, yeah, I see it, I
- 36:07can hear it. Yeah, nice.
- 36:10Oh my. But girls, you, you just have to
- 36:12look them up. It's hilarious.
- 36:13Yes, I did my. Way they're great.
- 36:15Now, now, my husband, this past Christmas, this is what he got
- 36:20me for Christmas. Oh.
- 36:22Yay, are you going? Girl, you got a.
- 36:25Girl. But I have to make my plans.
- 36:28I, I think I'm going to wait when, until or just before your
- 36:33new book comes out and then have them all fresh in my mind.
- 36:36So when I'm there now, how does this new book, how does it
- 36:40relate into this, these three books?
- 36:45Is it a continuation or what? Yeah, it's so the ever seas is
- 36:49like the ever king and queen are one couple, so that's obviously
- 36:53the ever king Eric blood singer and Livia Ferris.
- 36:56And then the mis thief will it drifts into another couple.
- 36:58So it'll it's one of Livia's friends slash cousins.
- 37:01Ish and then a female main character that you meet in the
- 37:05ever queen, then stolen crown. So that's just their story and
- 37:09then stolen crown will be a new couple, which is again another
- 37:12friend of Livia's and Eric Bloodsinger's cousin is Tate
- 37:16heart Walker. So yes, so that's kind of how I
- 37:19do my series. I like to they're long, but they
- 37:22also are broken up into couples so you can technically I even
- 37:25asked my editor because she hadn't read the other ones when
- 37:27they because we acquired it right.
- 37:29It used to be indie and so she hadn't read the other ones, but
- 37:31when she started stolen Crown and she she's like, I could I
- 37:34read it on my own like so it we it technically could be a stand
- 37:37alone. Yeah.
- 37:39I recommend you get to know the other characters that are there.
- 37:42But yeah, so that's how it fits in.
- 37:45It's just there's a little hook at the end of the mis Thief that
- 37:47kind of gives you a hint at what's going to happen in the
- 37:49Stolen Crown, and it leads in. Yeah, and your.
- 37:54Prequel or not, you can. It's like first then the first
- 37:59generation series which is the Broken Kingdoms.
- 38:03Yes. I'm reading that through.
- 38:05I'm on book 6 right now. Yes, and also you've met the
- 38:09Alvers, you've met Jonas and Sanders.
- 38:11Yes, Harris. Yeah.
- 38:13So I'm like caught up now. I feel like to miss thee at
- 38:16least. Yeah.
- 38:17Yeah, pretty sure that's what it's.
- 38:18A lot of people have a lot of opinions how you should read the
- 38:21books, but I am just happy however anyone reads the books.
- 38:25Yeah. So I mean.
- 38:26But what is? But what is the right way?
- 38:28LJ tell us. I, I wrote these very
- 38:32specifically that you can start with the Everseas because I
- 38:36understand I did not know this until I started writing it.
- 38:39Nine books is very intimidating to people.
- 38:42So I was like, OK, I'll break you in through the Everseas if
- 38:46you want. A lot of people like to go the
- 38:47Everseas route because they're like, it took the stress out on
- 38:51some things because I knew who made it out alive in the broken
- 38:54kangaroo. And then there's other people
- 38:56who are like, no, no, you have got to know the parents and how
- 39:00you get to the Everseas and stuff like that.
- 39:03So it's up. I just some like, there's no
- 39:05right way in my opinion. Other people will have very much
- 39:08stronger opinions, yeah. It just kind of depends on what
- 39:10you want your journey to be. Yeah, so I've had someone who
- 39:14she's like, I read like the ever King and Queen.
- 39:17Then I went back and read books one through 3 of the Broken
- 39:19Kingdoms because that's the ever Queen's like mom and dad.
- 39:22And then she's like, then I went and did the misstep and then I
- 39:24did the five, four through 6. And so then they're now they're
- 39:26reading Mira's parents who are 7 through 8 and they're getting
- 39:29ready. So book 9, they're no one's.
- 39:31Parents, I kind of like that yeah.
- 39:34I have my I have my little omnibuses right here yeah.
- 39:38And then I got it. Romanos Econ and I like that
- 39:42idea though, because that does break up a little.
- 39:44Like you said, it is kind of intimidating.
- 39:47Yeah, check out. And so and then you're kind of
- 39:50like fresh with those characters.
- 39:52So that does kind of well. That's what we're doing a read
- 39:54along right now. We're in the Eastern Kingdom,
- 39:56which is case in mountain, which is 4 through 6 like you're in
- 39:59and because we had so much time till stolen crown.
- 40:01So I was like. Like, hey, if you want to pass
- 40:03the time with us. So yeah, for that reason, like,
- 40:05it's nice to kind of see how things go.
- 40:07But yeah, I did have a reader who, like, she would go back and
- 40:09forth between the series. Yeah.
- 40:11I thought that was interesting. I.
- 40:13Am trying to cuz I read ever like the ever king and queen I
- 40:19want to say in July last year and then recently the misty.
- 40:22But I am trying to connect to everyone so I don't know like
- 40:28even with that much time in between I'm still trying to be
- 40:31like wait was that side character there or not?
- 40:34So I don't really. Really.
- 40:35You're like, I don't know who's gonna make it.
- 40:37Yeah. I was surprised in books one
- 40:41through 3. I do have family trees on my
- 40:43website if anyone needs help I. Have.
- 40:46Good to know like. Math.
- 40:47Yeah, there will be deaths written on there.
- 40:49They'll be like dead so if you so there could be spoilers.
- 40:54I you know, you and Melissa write some really funny like
- 40:59glossary or or like you said, like tree tree lines or glossary
- 41:04things and even on hers will be like this bitch needed to go.
- 41:09Yeah. It's really funny to read those.
- 41:12Yeah, like put some. Humor in it, Yeah.
- 41:16That's good stuff. I do enjoy Melissa as well.
- 41:18I like watching her lives and stuff that she has on we we.
- 41:23My Boo. We have.
- 41:26We have reached out to her but she's busy.
- 41:29We were hoping to have her come join us on this fun time too.
- 41:32She's so busy right now, she's like doing so many events, but
- 41:36she's coming to the Stolen Crown event.
- 41:37Yay, we should go. We should go to Scotland, we
- 41:42should go. We have all the things, all the
- 41:46things. I need a permanent babysitter,
- 41:48yeah. Bring the kids.
- 41:50They can't. Well, yeah.
- 41:51And bring. The party. 21 and older I do,
- 41:53yeah. I'll hire them.
- 41:56Have a nanny. Yeah, that'd be great.
- 41:59Nanny on site to watch all the kids.
- 42:01That'd be cool. You're giving me a brain, baby.
- 42:04I got to stop right there. Yeah, LJI have questions.
- 42:10Yeah, I have so many questions. OK, so the Ever King and the
- 42:15Ever Queen, I mean the ever series.
- 42:17So you were obviously indie 1st and and the Broken Kingdoms is
- 42:21still technically indie. Yep.
- 42:23Yeah. So was there any change?
- 42:26So I had gotten the Ever King ink pages edition that I
- 42:29absolutely love. Yes.
- 42:32And so going from I, I don't think I've ever asked an indie
- 42:35author going from like your indie book to traditional
- 42:39publishing, is there anything that changed or is it the same?
- 42:43Very much the same story. I did do a bonus content though.
- 42:47OK, so the ever king, the one that you have is has a full
- 42:51story in the back of sea Wells. So his whole back stories in
- 42:55there. And then I have more in the ever
- 42:58Queen and in the Miss thief. They all have different bonus
- 43:01panels. Yeah, I didn't do a full.
- 43:02They didn't revamp the story and I didn't.
- 43:06See, I've always wondered that because like for any authors
- 43:09that are out there, you know, like I'm, I'm wondering
- 43:11sometimes, do they make you change things?
- 43:13I have had friends who they've added completely new scenes to
- 43:17their books and stuff like that. I didn't, they didn't, they
- 43:20didn't go down that route with me, which is, yeah, good.
- 43:23Because I was like, it's already because well, I think their
- 43:25point there was like it's already selling.
- 43:28So yeah, yeah, I'm not going to change it because the transition
- 43:32for me, what I took down were my physical books.
- 43:34They kept the e-book. It was just like went.
- 43:36So they did do like a copy edit if that, you know, and they
- 43:41found some some weird sentences. We did that, but no scenes.
- 43:47And then I just did the bonus material so that it was like,
- 43:50this is a slightly different but still the same story.
- 43:54And how was that for you? I mean, like, how did that go?
- 43:57I I've always been curious. Like, did something reach out to
- 44:01you? Well, yeah.
- 44:02Or like where? You know what?
- 44:03Happened. It was right after, I'll keep
- 44:07names out of it and stuff like that, but it was right after The
- 44:10Miss Thief released. So it was June of 2024.
- 44:16I got an e-mail. We were on vacation as a family
- 44:18and it was like, it was a publisher and I was like, Oh my,
- 44:22is this real? So I talked to my agent.
- 44:24I already had an agent at that point.
- 44:25And yeah, it was legitimate. And so we talked, but then I was
- 44:29also, I already had the deal with broken souls and bones with
- 44:32my publisher. And so you had to loop them.
- 44:35And it's like a part of the contracts, right?
- 44:36You just, you got to like loop people in.
- 44:38And so then I kind of just got into some negotiations from a
- 44:42few places. And yeah, that's how it went.
- 44:44Ended up with the publisher that was with broken souls and bones.
- 44:47And here it goes. Yeah.
- 44:50You already had a pub deal with broken.
- 44:53Souls and Bones was already in the works with that.
- 44:57So what how I started in the trad side was just a new series,
- 45:01which is broken souls and bones. And so because I had an offer on
- 45:07it was when I was just I hadn't written the ever seas yet and I
- 45:10had an offer from a small press to do like publish some whatever
- 45:14my next project was, which was going to be the Everest king.
- 45:17And so I talked again with my agent.
- 45:19She was like, not that deal because it like it wasn't they
- 45:23wanted everything. And she was like, and then she
- 45:26was like, are you wanting to go trad?
- 45:27And I said, oh, be kind of fun to be hybrid.
- 45:29So we did a brand new idea, which ended up being the Broken
- 45:34Souls and Bones duology. And that was really exciting.
- 45:37It went to auction with a few publishers and.
- 45:41Yeah, ended up with Ace and Penguin Random House.
- 45:43So pretty. It was pretty exciting.
- 45:45And then, Yeah, I did not expect one of my indie series to get
- 45:49offered on. Yeah.
- 45:51And that's scarier. I will be honest.
- 45:53Selling one of your indie series is worth, is scarier because you
- 45:56have to pull it down and then the royalties no longer go to
- 45:59you. Yeah.
- 46:00And so it is quite an intimidating thing.
- 46:02But the hope is that you get into more readers and more
- 46:05spaces and more bookstores because apparently bookstores
- 46:09still have a thing against India.
- 46:11So yeah, yeah. So that's, that's why you do.
- 46:15A lot of people are like, it's a money grab sometimes.
- 46:17I'm like, no, actually it was doing fine on its own
- 46:21beforehand. So it was like it's more you
- 46:24hope that you can have distribution and more
- 46:25opportunities open up to you so. Right.
- 46:28Been quite quite a journey. Can you have you noticed the
- 46:32uptick in readers and sales from?
- 46:36Going track, I definitely have found more readers.
- 46:38I do feel like it slowed a bit because the stolen Crown has
- 46:41been so long. OK, But I see it going back up
- 46:45now because we're talking about the stolen crown.
- 46:47So I'm hoping. Like I was talking to my friends
- 46:50who have done this and they had delays too, and they said that
- 46:52they noticed it coming back once they released their delayed
- 46:55book. But with the Broken Souls and
- 46:58Bones duology, I found a lot of new readers, which was really
- 47:01exciting because that was just trad from the beginning.
- 47:05So that's been really exciting to have.
- 47:06Like the publishers promote you to their built in readership
- 47:10that they have too that I didn't have access to before.
- 47:13That's really, really cool. There was a huge, I was very
- 47:16grateful when book 2 came out for the Broken Souls and Bones.
- 47:19Like there was so many more order than the first one.
- 47:22So I was like, oh, it's growing. So yeah, that's pretty exciting.
- 47:26Yeah, but no, Everseas has been, it's been really fun and to see
- 47:30people get excited for it again, like, yeah, I hope, I hope they
- 47:34think the wait was worth it. So yes.
- 47:38Question for you now, since that'll be book 4, are you going
- 47:41to continue that the Eversea series, is it going to continue
- 47:44beyond these four books? Yes, they bought 6 books, so no.
- 47:48But it will be like one couple, one couple.
- 47:51So it's like the Miss Thief. It'll be this couple and then at
- 47:54the end of Stolen Crown, you're going to know who the next
- 47:57couple is. And are we going to have any
- 48:00crossover with Broken Souls and Bones?
- 48:03No, they're different worlds. I know.
- 48:05I'm like you need to and I'm like portal, I'll open a portal.
- 48:09Very different world, but I do invite.
- 48:11Like a sea, like a village on the sea and stuff.
- 48:14And I was like, oh, is. That like error that's.
- 48:16Just. Someone says they're like, Oh,
- 48:17my gosh, you should do another one.
- 48:19And they're by the ocean. You could go.
- 48:21Yeah. It's like the Everseas.
- 48:23No, I don't even talk about Faye in that series.
- 48:25Actually, though. No, Just like, yeah.
- 48:27Norse creatures. Yeah.
- 48:29There's no, I don't really think about it.
- 48:30Separate. We'll have a surprise where Eric
- 48:32shows up. Yeah.
- 48:33And they're like, who are you? Yeah.
- 48:36So he'll be captured again? Some.
- 48:37Yeah, yeah, yeah. Goodness.
- 48:41I have. Sorry for for new readers of
- 48:44yours. Like your website I just have to
- 48:46say is so nice and organized. It's like you can go in, you can
- 48:51find all the different collections of the series.
- 48:54And then for Broken Souls and Bones, Air of Twisted Lies is
- 48:57going to be book 2. Of that series yes it's out it
- 49:01released and it's done and if I go back I will again do what I
- 49:07do it'll be a new couple probably Yep there they.
- 49:11Are so is that technically a duology or OK?
- 49:15Yep, and like I said, if I ever go back, it would focus on a new
- 49:18main male. It might even be considered a
- 49:20different series. Honestly.
- 49:21I just would do different like characters.
- 49:23I'm not sure. But yeah, that's a duology.
- 49:26And I had a brain baby that needed to get out to before I
- 49:29went back to the world of Stonegate.
- 49:31So that's coming in 2027 is a new new series, a new world.
- 49:35So yeah. Wait, isn't that nice for you to
- 49:38have all the things? In your brain, my dystopian yes.
- 49:41Coming out. OK so that makes I was because
- 49:44everything's so Norse with us right?
- 49:47Like Vikings and Faye are all Norse mythology, so is dystopian
- 49:51going to be in a Norse atmosphere?
- 49:55It's not. I mean there's so we're.
- 49:57Going grow. We're going, yeah.
- 49:59Like it's I'm nervous. I like had to get out.
- 50:03It's actually like it's not, I don't know how to explain it.
- 50:06It's not futuristic, but it is. So it's like in the real world,
- 50:10but in the future, like obviously because the world is
- 50:12falling apart like post kind of post apocalyptic, but it that's
- 50:17not like the main focus. It's just the world set up.
- 50:21They don't call it like the same country names, kind of like
- 50:24Hunger Games that's 10 M and stuff like that now.
- 50:26So it's like a different name, but of course have a nod to it.
- 50:31Like there's people who have tattoos that are ruins and stuff
- 50:34like that. So there's there's lots of that.
- 50:37But as the world grows, so it's like kind of focusing on, I feel
- 50:41like when the world falls apart, there's a lot of crime that will
- 50:43come up to like give you a place to stay.
- 50:45So that's like almost like a crime boss city where it's like
- 50:48there's different families, almost like mafia.
- 50:50And then there's some eats that are awful.
- 50:53But it's about, yeah, they they control through the like.
- 50:57So they they hoard like the libraries and stuff like that
- 51:00because there is a slight magic system in it though, but I call
- 51:03it evolution. So.
- 51:04OK, like tech. Yeah, well, it's in their blood.
- 51:07So it's like some of the population.
- 51:09And the more they know, like the more powerful they are.
- 51:11That's why they board the book and stuff.
- 51:13So I like it. Yes, it's going to be new and
- 51:16exciting and yeah, but yeah, I had to get it out and.
- 51:21You said that comes out in 2027. Yeah.
- 51:24And. Don't know exactly when.
- 51:26Yes. I have.
- 51:28All your books are on my TBR list, every single one of them.
- 51:31I have a large TBR list, these ones.
- 51:35Oh yes. You see, I love a series.
- 51:37I love a long series. I love that.
- 51:40I love that more than, I mean, I do like standalones.
- 51:42I do. I do enjoy that, but I love
- 51:45being immersed in a very long series and being in that world
- 51:49for a long time. That would be the broken.
- 51:50That's what I love, yeah. It's.
- 51:52Very. So I'm super excited for that.
- 51:55Yeah, well, too, and I'll let you know.
- 51:58I'm excited. I'm excited.
- 51:59Like I said, this fall, I know that it's on my plants.
- 52:03My husband bought them for me for Christmas.
- 52:06I have my plants now. Now we were asking, or I asked
- 52:10you this question on our little questionnaire, who would you
- 52:14have if you had to pick actors and stuff to play the different
- 52:18parts of the people that are in your books?
- 52:22Why would you give me the list and I've already forgotten their
- 52:24names like I would prove it. I would like to do a Google
- 52:28search because I was like I don't know I'm the worst I'm.
- 52:31Really. Used.
- 52:33To you have audiences, Well, you have for Eric, you have Felix.
- 52:39Ballard I looked him up. You.
- 52:41Have to tell me who he is. He's so cute.
- 52:44OK, so he's. In yeah, he's in the Ginny in
- 52:47Georgia on Netflix and he I adored him and.
- 52:53Looked like him. Yeah.
- 52:54He just looked to me because Eric, he changes in my head
- 52:59sometimes. I look like when I saw his face,
- 53:01I was like, I think that looks like Eric.
- 53:04So that's why I chose him. I don't know.
- 53:05I don't watch a lot of TV because I like to read.
- 53:08Like, no, that sounded bad. I didn't mean like that.
- 53:10Like, I just if I have downtime, I read.
- 53:12And so that sounded so fun to sin.
- 53:16I did not mean it that way. I love a good TV show.
- 53:20Yeah. As we all know, with parenting
- 53:23and work, it's hard. Yeah.
- 53:26Anyway, that's gonna sound like I'm the biggest.
- 53:30I. Read.
- 53:32Well, and then you said for and then you said for Celine you
- 53:35have Zendaya. I love her.
- 53:38I love her. God, I love her.
- 53:41I love her. She's just so good.
- 53:43And if she's the one, that she's with little Tom Holland, right?
- 53:45Yes, yeah, we might be like a musical version so that she can
- 53:49also sing. She said, oh, I just, she seems
- 53:53like I would want to be best friends with her, Yeah.
- 53:55For sure. She, when you see her and they
- 53:58interview and they talk with her and stuff, she seems like a very
- 54:02genuine person, you know, because sometimes you'll see
- 54:07people and they interview and stuff like a lot, a lot of these
- 54:10Hollywood actors and stuff. And you can tell that they're
- 54:13just doing this, you know what I mean?
- 54:15And they're just be nice. And then as soon as the thing
- 54:17and they're whatever. But she actually seems like a
- 54:19true genuine person. I one of my favorite things is
- 54:22when she was on at. Well, I guess it was Tom Holland
- 54:25and they were on the the what is that show where they lip sing?
- 54:29Yeah. And he did the umbrella song by
- 54:31Rihanna. Yeah, that was.
- 54:32Good. That was so good.
- 54:35And she like died. She was like, Oh my God, when he
- 54:37came out because because he even had the outfit.
- 54:40He had the outfit. And yeah, they, she just seems.
- 54:43I just love her. I just think, yeah.
- 54:45Very dumb. Yeah.
- 54:46Yeah, they both do. Well, they said if they get when
- 54:49they get married and all that and if they have children, he
- 54:52said he won't be doing any more acting.
- 54:54He said he will focus for everything that is him into his
- 54:57children and his family. I that's, I think they keep
- 55:00their relationship really private too.
- 55:02I think that's really smart of them to keep it as.
- 55:05Was she? Well, they, well, there were all
- 55:07those pictures all over the Internet that they had gotten
- 55:10married. Even some of her own family
- 55:12thought they were real and they were upset that they didn't
- 55:15invite them so. They aren't married.
- 55:17I thought they were married. Yeah, there's rumors that they
- 55:20are. But no, it's, it's the freaking
- 55:23AI things that people are doing and it looks so real.
- 55:26And it's like, that's what I hate.
- 55:29Yeah, I hate it so much. Yeah, it is just not.
- 55:33It's just not cool. It's so hard to tell the
- 55:36difference now on some things. Some things are easy, but some
- 55:39are not. Yeah.
- 55:40But especially like, pictures like that because their pictures
- 55:42are everywhere. And so it is so easy to just
- 55:45throw a wedding dress on her. Yeah.
- 55:47And make it look real. Messed up, yeah.
- 55:50Well, they, there was something on Instagram and I seen it, it
- 55:53was like something with this like lamp.
- 55:55They made this like, you know, with acrylic and stuff.
- 55:57And but now with, with your phone, you can take it and if
- 56:01you like split screen or your tablet or whatever, you can
- 56:04split screen it with like Gemini.
- 56:06You can put it on there and have it look at your screen because
- 56:09you can select a feature and you can ask it is this real?
- 56:13And it will tell you if it's not.
- 56:14And it was telling me no, they told me because it's like they,
- 56:17they make AI people like they're talking stuff and they're like,
- 56:21oh, please watch my video because my stuff's not selling
- 56:24those. None of those are real.
- 56:26Those are all fake accounts. But yet they look real.
- 56:29They look real. And then it what it is, it's T
- 56:32MU and a lot of these places they're they're making them so
- 56:35that you feel bad and you want to buy this stuff.
- 56:38Wow. Isn't that interesting?
- 56:41That sucks. It's going to be hard to tell it
- 56:43what's real and what's not in the future for sure.
- 56:45Yes. And the other thing that was
- 56:46funny that like I saw about that, it's like you're feeding
- 56:50stuff into like an AI thing to tell you if it's AI, it's like,
- 56:55so really you can't win. Yeah, yeah, I think they.
- 56:59Told you the truth. Social media is like from my
- 57:02before I change it to LJ. Yeah.
- 57:03Because they're scanning faces now.
- 57:06So I'm like, yeah. I took my kids off, like, for
- 57:08many reasons. Not only that, but like, yeah,
- 57:11for many reasons. I was like, you know what?
- 57:13No, more like we're done. I'm not sharing anything about
- 57:15them. I don't want their birthdays out
- 57:17there. I don't want anything.
- 57:18Oh yeah, Just way too much information.
- 57:21It's crazy. Speaking of childhood and such,
- 57:24LJD you'd have anything like when you were, let's say high
- 57:27school or even before that? Like when I was a kid, it was,
- 57:30you know, I was very into the Harry Potter series Twilight.
- 57:33I would lock myself away in a room and read it until the book
- 57:36was done. Yes.
- 57:38What was what was your I mean, what were the books that you
- 57:41were into? I want.
- 57:42To think, I remember when Harry Potter came out, I was in 6th
- 57:48grade and I saw that was the first time I saw it.
- 57:50It wasn't. It had been out, but I didn't
- 57:51know what it was yet. So yeah, cuz when did it come
- 57:54out? 2001 was the movies.
- 57:57Yeah, so it wasn't, I was in mid 19. 95 I'm not sure because I
- 58:02had gotten the table but I wasn't ready.
- 58:04For it, yeah, 4th or 5th grade when it came out, but I saw a
- 58:08girl reading it in my class and I was like, I look stupid and I
- 58:11didn't read it forever. Then of course, like everyone in
- 58:13our generation, I felt like got really hooked into it.
- 58:15Twilight, I didn't read till I was engaged.
- 58:17Actually, I was like. And that was where my now
- 58:19husband that learned real quick how quickly I get absorbed into
- 58:24books and I ignore everything. Personality there, Yeah, he
- 58:27would sit there. And just like lay beside me and
- 58:30I was like, you, OK, like I was just like reading like and I
- 58:33wouldn't I just completely ignored.
- 58:34And so I got read the Twilight books.
- 58:36Another series I I got into. I was a big this is going to
- 58:41nerd me out, but I was a huge anamorphs.
- 58:45Yes, animals. Animorphs were awesome, yeah.
- 58:49They were my guilty pleasures. I love Animorphs and goosebumps.
- 58:54Yeah, always. Fun.
- 58:55Especially when they had the ones where it was like choose
- 58:58your ending basically and you were like.
- 59:00Skip. I was obsessed with those books
- 59:03and I would read all night long. So it's like a lesser known like
- 59:07Animorph series, but I read all of them.
- 59:10I had the. Animorphs like I had a poster
- 59:13that did like a weird like you turned.
- 59:15In it would change, yeah. I would do it again.
- 59:18A more thing, yeah. That's awesome.
- 59:20I, I was always in the library getting those out.
- 59:23I kind of lost reading for a while at like once I was in like
- 59:27deep into college. I kind of yeah.
- 59:29And I would, I remember I used to be a much more versatile
- 59:33genre reader. I would read just about
- 59:35anything. So I remember I like loved The
- 59:38Da Vinci Code, but then I was reading Memoirs of a Geisha and
- 59:40then I was reading Marley and Me.
- 59:42And so I'm like, I don't know when I think Holly Black is I
- 59:45read The Folk of the Air when I had two kids and I got way back
- 59:50into the romanticy side. Yeah, like after I had two kids
- 59:55and stuff, cuz I was much more like, oh, I'll just pick up
- 59:57anything. Like I remember reading my dad
- 59:59gives us a book every year for Christmas.
- 1:00:01And so I think that's why I was very, I just would read any
- 1:00:03genre. Whatever you got.
- 1:00:05Yeah, and like I'm, he got me the help.
- 1:00:07I love that book so much. And so it reminds me I'm like I
- 1:00:10used to be. I would genre jump all the time.
- 1:00:12I don't, I don't genre jump as much anymore.
- 1:00:14I kind of stick to romanticy or contemporary romance.
- 1:00:18So it's kind of interesting. Yeah, yeah, I have gotten.
- 1:00:21Thrillers and. Yeah.
- 1:00:24I still like them, but I have definitely jumped more into the
- 1:00:27romanticy again. Yeah.
- 1:00:29Because it and it's like has blown up these last couple of
- 1:00:33years since I've gotten back into reading.
- 1:00:35I'm like, Oh my. Gosh, there's like, I do love a
- 1:00:37good thriller. My dad is a big thriller guy, so
- 1:00:40sometimes he would listen into the books on tape or whatever,
- 1:00:43and I would just listen because I was in the car.
- 1:00:44And I do think they're still some of the most clever writers.
- 1:00:47Oh my God, these mystery writers.
- 1:00:49I'm like, you have to be a detective to write these.
- 1:00:51Right, they are insane with A twist and.
- 1:00:55Yeah, they're so awesome. It's just like not, I don't like
- 1:00:59automatically pick them up now, but yeah, I remember.
- 1:01:02I do like them though. Yeah, Nancy Drew was like my
- 1:01:05thing. Yeah, I.
- 1:01:06Forgot about. Yeah, I love Party Boys.
- 1:01:08Did you ever read The Party Boys?
- 1:01:10Yes. I've bought those for my for my
- 1:01:13kids, but they're not. I'm trying so hard to make them
- 1:01:16readers. It's.
- 1:01:17Me too. Will happen eventually, but
- 1:01:19right now they're like Nah no. Literally my job.
- 1:01:22Yeah, my job. So yeah, they're.
- 1:01:26Tried. I've tried with my kids and now
- 1:01:29my oldest. I got him because he likes they
- 1:01:31like video games. That's my kids.
- 1:01:34But I did buy him the Witcher because he loves the Witcher, he
- 1:01:37loves all the video games and that.
- 1:01:38So I bought him the entire series, and I know he has read
- 1:01:43some of it because he knows things I didn't know.
- 1:01:47But has he read the other ones? No, my middle one, no interest.
- 1:01:52Well, I can't say that he likes those Five Nights of Freddy's.
- 1:01:56He likes to read those. My little one, I still have.
- 1:02:00I'm trying. I'm trying.
- 1:02:01But they're like their dad, my husband.
- 1:02:03They love video games and they like doing that kind of thing.
- 1:02:06That is, they're just like him and I'm trying to burn it.
- 1:02:09I loved reading Matilda and Roald Dahl and the Boxcar Kids
- 1:02:13when I was. They did a new show and I told
- 1:02:16my daughter about it and I was like, let's read the Boxcar
- 1:02:19Children while you and then you can watch the show.
- 1:02:22But you know what? I know how nerdy I am because my
- 1:02:24good boys are gamers too. Hence the headset.
- 1:02:28I started sitting down there because I call everything
- 1:02:30Nintendo. Yeah, and at this point I just
- 1:02:33do it to bug him. They're like, Mom, it's an Xbox.
- 1:02:35I'm like Nintendo anyway. And I said there, I'm like, so
- 1:02:40look at this back story. I'm like, this is a story.
- 1:02:42And I go through like how it's like a book.
- 1:02:44And actually my son wants to be a game designer.
- 1:02:47And so he's just like, oh, I'm like, see, you need to learn how
- 1:02:50to tell a story with a game because they all have a back
- 1:02:54story. Am I?
- 1:02:55Wrong and an objective to get to find more information.
- 1:02:59How? Cool.
- 1:02:59Reading is. Yeah.
- 1:03:02Oh, yeah. Because I mean, you take, you
- 1:03:04know, well, of course the Witcher was, you know, a book
- 1:03:06story, You know, it was, you know, they were books and then
- 1:03:08they into a game. And then of course the TV show.
- 1:03:11But there's like Horizon 0 Dawn. That was one of the games that
- 1:03:15came out a few years ago. And it has such a good story.
- 1:03:19And I don't play, I, I have played video games because
- 1:03:22that's how I actually met my husband.
- 1:03:23I met him playing World of Warcraft, but that was many
- 1:03:27moons ago. But I, but I do love my husband.
- 1:03:30He plays all the time. He has a PlayStation, he has
- 1:03:32Xbox, he has all of those different things.
- 1:03:35I will sit and I'll watch him. And it is, it truly is.
- 1:03:37They are stories and they have some of them have excellent, you
- 1:03:41know, story and back story. And if you ever played the
- 1:03:44Witcher, you ever you actually played the game and stuff.
- 1:03:47I mean, it is so good. And Geralt gets all the ladies.
- 1:03:50Of course he does. But now I got Netflix.
- 1:03:54I've only gotten it just recently.
- 1:03:55We've never had it. We always have Hulu and stuff
- 1:03:58like that. But we got it.
- 1:04:00And so I started watching The Witcher and I see what Chelsea
- 1:04:03sees. Are.
- 1:04:05You Henry is every male main character.
- 1:04:08Is for me, I know that's well, that's how it usually is when
- 1:04:10you say these movie things. I'm like always Henry.
- 1:04:12And I'm like being like, he's aging gracefully, but he's
- 1:04:15getting older for these characters.
- 1:04:17Yeah, he is like our I'm like age right now for our boyfriend.
- 1:04:23Have you seen This is one of my favorite movies of him.
- 1:04:25It was the warfare of the and gentlemanly warfare or something
- 1:04:30like that. That's new.
- 1:04:31Yeah. Go watch.
- 1:04:32It OK you know who else I like in that though, is I like hero
- 1:04:37for the now he's like the younger yeah, he's he's going to
- 1:04:40be getting some of the MMC. Watch that movie.
- 1:04:42OK One of my favorite. Saw it, watch it.
- 1:04:45Yeah, and there are on the right, like with the right
- 1:04:47facial hair, he could even be blood singer to me.
- 1:04:50Yes, he's. I thought I put him down for
- 1:04:52one. I thought I might have put him
- 1:04:53for Tate. I don't remember.
- 1:04:55Though I think Rebecca. Has that list I have to.
- 1:04:59I have to look on the actual. Main thing down, I think I
- 1:05:02actually put him down for one of them.
- 1:05:03OK, Henry is also very beautiful in that movie and I.
- 1:05:07Always put him as Valen now, which is Livia's dad.
- 1:05:09So he's back. OK, OK.
- 1:05:11Yes. Daddy.
- 1:05:13Daddy, go watch that movie if you want Henry Cavill.
- 1:05:17Yeah. And what's the I'm trying to
- 1:05:19remember the big guy that just had the whole computer, the
- 1:05:22really, really big guy. What's his name?
- 1:05:24He's. Bigger than Henry Cavill.
- 1:05:25Yes. Take it.
- 1:05:27I don't know, but he plays the Dane in it I love.
- 1:05:29It Yeah, he's Reacher. Wrestler.
- 1:05:31No, he's Reacher. 00. What's his name?
- 1:05:36I'm so blanket. I'm looking at it right now.
- 1:05:38It's. Very.
- 1:05:39Awesome too. Right into the Galaxy.
- 1:05:41Right. No.
- 1:05:42No guardians. Reacher is OK, so the thing
- 1:05:46comes up. Cast.
- 1:05:47Here we. Go yes, this.
- 1:05:48Guy Alan Richardson. Yeah, he.
- 1:05:52All the good men are in that movie.
- 1:05:53Yeah, it. Was to watch it a.
- 1:05:55Good show. No, he's always been just like
- 1:05:58actor. It's a World War 2 movie and
- 1:06:01they just barely declassified it in 2026 or 26, and so we didn't
- 1:06:05even know this happened. And so it's from World War 2.
- 1:06:07It's so good. Well, let me ask you this now,
- 1:06:10because you, you did Twilight and stuff.
- 1:06:12Now, today, now, looking back at it, like now, do you find
- 1:06:16Bella's dad to be more attractive?
- 1:06:18Yeah, and. Everything.
- 1:06:19Because see, I think he's. I know.
- 1:06:23Heather and I talk about this whole time and I send Heather
- 1:06:27videos all the time over Instagram because I find all
- 1:06:30these goofy things with, you know, this is a this is the skin
- 1:06:33of a killer, Bella and I and yeah, I always find Charlie like
- 1:06:37that. Movie, you guys delicious.
- 1:06:40He's so. Delicious, Charlie.
- 1:06:41I love Charlie. Yeah.
- 1:06:44See, I've never read the books. I've only watched the movies,
- 1:06:46but Heather always tells me that the books are better.
- 1:06:49Oh, they are. Well the books are so much
- 1:06:51better. The movies were cringe when they
- 1:06:53first came out. Oh, wait, no, wait.
- 1:06:56Now, do you guys remember Mystery Theater 3000?
- 1:06:59Do you remember that on TV? See, you guys are a little bit
- 1:07:01younger than me. OK, There's this thing, it used
- 1:07:03to be on TV and it was these guys.
- 1:07:05And they'd have the movie. The the movie would be playing.
- 1:07:07And I don't remember if they were puppets or something or it
- 1:07:09was something and they would make fun of movies through the
- 1:07:12whole entire thing. Well, they have a thing and I
- 1:07:15can't remember what it's called. I'll have to look, but I'm sure
- 1:07:18you can find it online. They do it online now and you
- 1:07:21can download their version and you can watch Twilight and watch
- 1:07:25all the way through with them talking.
- 1:07:27And they said it makes it so much better because they make
- 1:07:30comments to the whole thing. And I told my husband, I said we
- 1:07:35need to watch that. But you just download on your
- 1:07:37computer and play it and. It's kind of like that is when
- 1:07:41you said that. I think I have seen it like way
- 1:07:43back in the day. They have like puppets on the
- 1:07:46side of the screen. Right.
- 1:07:47And they make fun of, Yeah, they make fun of the movie, The whole
- 1:07:49it's. Almost like Saturday Night Live,
- 1:07:51like I like, I almost remember it being something like that.
- 1:07:54You have it's a, it's movie, Mr. whatever, whatever 3000 or
- 1:07:59whatever it was. But it's something similar to
- 1:08:02that is the name, but it's the same guys and they're doing this
- 1:08:06and they said, you know, these two guys were talking about,
- 1:08:10they're like, we're not even affiliated with them.
- 1:08:12Nothing. But we have watched it and they
- 1:08:14said it has made Twilight so much better.
- 1:08:16Yeah, it's funny. So if you decide to watch,
- 1:08:19rewatch it. They say to do this, I have to
- 1:08:22look and see what it is. I have to remember what it was.
- 1:08:25But it's something, it's with them.
- 1:08:26But it's something fun. But you were, these are the
- 1:08:28people that you told me. You said Michael is it?
- 1:08:32It's Ely. How do you pronounce his last
- 1:08:34name for Gavin? I look at, I'm like, I just
- 1:08:36like, looked people up. So let's see.
- 1:08:39We don't pronounce LJ. We don't pronounce anything
- 1:08:41correct on you. Yeah, go handsome, right?
- 1:08:46He looks so much like how I would see Gavin.
- 1:08:49So I was like, and then you have, OK, this is again.
- 1:08:52Oh, I love how we were going to pronounce these names.
- 1:08:55All right, it's it's Idris. Idris.
- 1:08:58Alba. Yeah, that's Seawell.
- 1:09:00I knew that one. Yeah, I knew.
- 1:09:02He's my Seawell. Yeah.
- 1:09:04All right. And then you have Phineas
- 1:09:07Tiffin, Tiffin. Hero.
- 1:09:09That's hero. OK, OK, yeah.
- 1:09:12And then there's Paul Meskel. You have and then you have Anya
- 1:09:17Taylor as Joy and you have Isabella.
- 1:09:23Her name is Anya Taylor Joy. Oh, OK, yeah.
- 1:09:26OK, so that's how it goes. Anya, I have no idea who these
- 1:09:29people are. See, you get to a point.
- 1:09:31I said this to my husband the other day.
- 1:09:33You know, at one time in my life, I knew all the actors and
- 1:09:36actresses. I knew all the singers.
- 1:09:39And now I'm like, who are these people?
- 1:09:41Yeah, Anya, they don't know. Who they?
- 1:09:42Are as Scotty who is the female main character in Mis Thief,
- 1:09:46that's who I. Would.
- 1:09:47OK, got it. OK.
- 1:09:48And then you have Isabella, Merced, Merced, Mer.
- 1:09:53CED. We again, we don't pronounce
- 1:09:56anything. We Heather was talking about a
- 1:09:59different book and and she was trying to pronounce.
- 1:10:03She was just saying names like Norwegian names.
- 1:10:05And it was not. It wasn't even anything though.
- 1:10:09Yes, and. And stuff.
- 1:10:14And our audio picked it up and had like it had translated what
- 1:10:20I was saying and I wasn't even like trying to say an actual
- 1:10:24word. I was just talking.
- 1:10:26Yeah, the Broncos and Bone series, that was the hard one
- 1:10:28because I use a lot of Scandinavian words and that,
- 1:10:31yeah. When we do talk about mages I
- 1:10:36had seen. So I'm a total noob.
- 1:10:38I did not know the authors did these cool collabs with like the
- 1:10:42stand alone series and that was my first.
- 1:10:44One and my own, well, the only one so far.
- 1:10:46Yeah, so. So do you have, are you going to
- 1:10:49be doing more of those anytime? Soon I've been asked and I feel
- 1:10:54like I kind of wrapped the whole like own family, the story up
- 1:10:59and so I don't I have had people be like, I want you to go back
- 1:11:01and do more characters. I'm like, but who?
- 1:11:03They all got like their Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:11:06Or maybe a different like? Are you definitely open to doing
- 1:11:09other ones with other author groups?
- 1:11:12Yeah, it just depends on timing. Like it's I thought with Trad it
- 1:11:16would go slow me down, which it did because I was at like a
- 1:11:18super unhealthy release rate when I was in D and but it's
- 1:11:25still very busy. Like it's especially with doing
- 1:11:27few books each year, which I know why tried awful.
- 1:11:31Well, I know why tried do one now cuz it is like you go back
- 1:11:34and forth and you're doing it takes a while, but it's like
- 1:11:36you're they're always overlapping a little bit.
- 1:11:38So I can see why it's usually 1A year, but I am fortunate and
- 1:11:42have two a year. Yeah.
- 1:11:44And yeah. So it'd just be time frame and
- 1:11:47stuff like that. And like contracts now I can't
- 1:11:49have competes like I can't have non competes that I can't like
- 1:11:51release certain. Things.
- 1:11:53Yeah, so I will be doing novellas though, because I I can
- 1:11:56do one indie novella a year, so it's just easy.
- 1:11:59They're probably going to be from the Everseas or Broken
- 1:12:01Kingdoms or maybe Stonegate and stuff like that from Broken Soul
- 1:12:05and Bones. So we'll see.
- 1:12:07And how does the characters live in your brain?
- 1:12:10Because everybody's different. And so I'd like to know, like,
- 1:12:13how does it come to you and what I mean?
- 1:12:15Or do you just sit and you write or what is that process?
- 1:12:18No. I definitely have a so sometimes
- 1:12:21an idea comes to me through the simplest things.
- 1:12:24It could be like, I'm very music, like I listen to music
- 1:12:27all the time, be a lyric and it just spurs.
- 1:12:30That's what happened with the dystopian that's coming up.
- 1:12:33It was a lyric and I just was like, OK, I see something in my
- 1:12:36head anyway. But I usually I build worlds
- 1:12:41through senses first. So I start with smell usually
- 1:12:44like what is it smelling like? And then it's all build the word
- 1:12:46that way. And then like shadows will pop
- 1:12:47in and it's like I'm feeling it with characters.
- 1:12:49And then I'll kind of start to just play around with outlining
- 1:12:53a character kind of what I want them to be like.
- 1:12:56And either they'll take shape or it will shift.
- 1:12:58But as I get to know them and I'm pretty like I have their
- 1:13:01basic who it's going to be and like what their story is, then I
- 1:13:05do personality profiles on the characters until I know them
- 1:13:09well enough, usually by the end of the book.
- 1:13:11So I'll write not knowing them well and then by the end I know
- 1:13:15them. And so that that helps know my
- 1:13:16edits. I can go back and like shift and
- 1:13:18adjust things to fit their personalities better.
- 1:13:21But usually I will know them very well by the time the book
- 1:13:26is published. That I can easily, not easily.
- 1:13:28It's still hard to write a book, but you know what I mean?
- 1:13:30Like I can, this is how they would react.
- 1:13:32This is what they're going to say.
- 1:13:33Like I get to know them a lot easier that way.
- 1:13:35Oh, with like the stolen Crown, I have Broken Kingdoms
- 1:13:38characters in it that I've been with for years.
- 1:13:41And their scenes are just like, I can just pop that.
- 1:13:43I'm like, this is what they're going to say.
- 1:13:45Especially like Mira's dad, he's a chatterbox.
- 1:13:47And so in his scenes, when he's in there, it's just like these
- 1:13:52thick paragraphs of just like, I knew exactly how he would word
- 1:13:56things. I knew how he would say things
- 1:13:57because I've just known him for a long time.
- 1:13:59But where like the female main character who's coming in,
- 1:14:03you'll know the end of Stolen Crown for Book 5.
- 1:14:05I don't know her that well yet. And so I'm like, yeah, so we'll
- 1:14:09get to know her. Now, do you ever use?
- 1:14:12Are there any people in like that you know, or that help you
- 1:14:16write these characters or are they completely just?
- 1:14:18Like real life inspirations. Yeah.
- 1:14:20Is there any of that really or do they just live in your bed?
- 1:14:22It happens and I just don't really, you know, I'm sure it's
- 1:14:26very subconscious because how do we not like we have to do our
- 1:14:29lived experiences, right? There's always pieces of me and
- 1:14:32my life inside these books, but I think a lot of it comes from
- 1:14:37what I would love myself. That's why I'm really big on the
- 1:14:40found family. Like, that's why my casts are so
- 1:14:43huge in my books, because I think that it's harder now in
- 1:14:48our generation and as we're older, especially for women to
- 1:14:50like find your, I guess people, you know, that you have.
- 1:14:54It's getting harder. And we're all very much in the
- 1:14:57thick of raising our families, trying to work and all this
- 1:15:00stuff. Yeah.
- 1:15:01So I always create these big sound families because I think I
- 1:15:03want that. And not that I don't have it,
- 1:15:06but do you know what I mean? Like it just like these friend
- 1:15:08groups and stuff that are like, I will bury the body for you,
- 1:15:11right? So yeah, I don't know.
- 1:15:13I just, I guess it probably comes from desire or probably
- 1:15:16from people who in my past and my life currently.
- 1:15:19So. Yeah.
- 1:15:20Yeah, because see, we didn't know each other the three of
- 1:15:22yeah, until we met. I met Chelsea and that was it'll
- 1:15:28be two years this like was it November, December, something
- 1:15:32like that. And and then I met Heather last
- 1:15:35year. I have a little a little group
- 1:15:37on Instagram that because I had met so many nice people and I'm
- 1:15:41like, hey, do you want to we'll have a little chat and all those
- 1:15:45people. I think there's like, I think
- 1:15:46there's like 20 of us in there and again, none of us knew each
- 1:15:51other nothing. And we talked like a little
- 1:15:54daily to each other and we found each other.
- 1:15:57It's amazing how. About like events and stuff is
- 1:16:00they in like book this bookish community as I feel like it
- 1:16:03connects people. It does, yes.
- 1:16:06Yeah, romanticism is like the first event I've ever gone to
- 1:16:10where I felt like I belonged. Yeah, definitely it doesn't.
- 1:16:13Matter Like what you're dressed as, what you look like.
- 1:16:16That's how I feel at Ren fairs. When I go to a Ren fair I'm like
- 1:16:20this is my. Home this.
- 1:16:22Is my This is where I belong here and I love that.
- 1:16:24I think that's one of my favorite things.
- 1:16:25I've always felt like a little different, like in my community
- 1:16:29and stuff like that. I'm the tatted, colorful hair
- 1:16:32mom who has a witch cottage in her back in Utah.
- 1:16:36Yeah, in Utah. Very religious, very religious.
- 1:16:40You know, I even and I have multiple piercings and stuff
- 1:16:43like that. So it's like, I love the bookish
- 1:16:47community. I I've said this before.
- 1:16:49Like, you go and you see people who are come from all walks of
- 1:16:53life and we all look a little different.
- 1:16:55And you feel like if anything happened to you, they'd like
- 1:16:59Shank someone for you. Like you don't even know how you
- 1:17:01are. You're you're a Booker.
- 1:17:03Yeah. We're going down.
- 1:17:04Yeah. And so I've said that to my
- 1:17:06husband and I was like, you'll just find this community and it
- 1:17:08doesn't matter because I get a lot of people.
- 1:17:10Then they come to my tables and stuff.
- 1:17:12They're like, oh, I'm so weird. I'm like, so am I.
- 1:17:14Yeah, we're all weird here. Let's do this.
- 1:17:19I actually met, I met a girl in your line when we had come gone
- 1:17:23through and and then I like hung out with her because I went
- 1:17:26alone this year. I didn't have anybody that yeah,
- 1:17:29my husband, oh, my husband came with me, but he just stayed in
- 1:17:31the room the whole time. Yeah.
- 1:17:34And so he did go to the party with me, but we only stayed for
- 1:17:37a little bit. But I met her in your line and
- 1:17:39then we went and did like the mask making together and just
- 1:17:43did little things. And it's just so cool, like to
- 1:17:46find people, people that all love the same kind of things
- 1:17:49and. You love it so much.
- 1:17:51It's really fun. I mean, Chelsea, you said the
- 1:17:54one day, you know you through this little community that we
- 1:17:56have found together and all that, that there are people that
- 1:18:00we have met through books and that that show up more for you
- 1:18:03than the people that you actually know that are in your
- 1:18:07actual real life. You know what I mean?
- 1:18:09Not not that we're not in our real life, but you know, right
- 1:18:11here present with you. And that is such a true, I, I
- 1:18:14mean, that is such a true statement because I feel that
- 1:18:17every day, yeah. Yeah, like yesterday, my
- 1:18:19sister's baby shower. She had so many friends there.
- 1:18:22And I'm like, but she's also more outgoing and I'm more of
- 1:18:25the introvert that stayed in and read my books.
- 1:18:27And so I do have a few girlfriends from high school,
- 1:18:30but other than that it's like. I think we're the same person.
- 1:18:33I have, like my two really good friends from high school.
- 1:18:35We'll meet up maybe every seven months or yeah.
- 1:18:37That's. Not even the six months anymore.
- 1:18:39And we live within 35 minutes. Oh gosh.
- 1:18:43Anyway. And we meet up a little bit and
- 1:18:45it's just like, it's great. Whenever we get together, it's
- 1:18:47like no time has passed, right? But then I just go back into my
- 1:18:50little cave. Yeah, me.
- 1:18:52Too. And it's so nice to to have
- 1:18:54those friendships because they aren't, you know, they don't
- 1:18:57expect, you know. Yeah, a lot, you know, And it's
- 1:18:59so great because we have one friend that from high school,
- 1:19:02she moved to Texas. And so we really only get
- 1:19:04together when she comes to California.
- 1:19:06So it's like when when Julia's home, then we're all going to
- 1:19:09see each other. Yeah.
- 1:19:10Yeah. And hopefully just like that,
- 1:19:12it's just like getting back together, like it's not.
- 1:19:14Anything so right? But I am so loving and getting
- 1:19:17immersed in this community because now all these cons and
- 1:19:20and all that, like we can see each other and then we can go
- 1:19:23back to our little corners and just talk on the Internet for
- 1:19:26the rest of the year. And I think you really do find
- 1:19:29people who accept you for who you are, so it's really nice.
- 1:19:32Yeah, I do believe that the book community is much more accepting
- 1:19:36of people in that. And again, I I think it's right.
- 1:19:39I think they should do a romantic econ in Louisville so I
- 1:19:42can go to it because I'm not far from the big convention centers
- 1:19:47they. Have Orlando.
- 1:19:48Yeah, do you? Think I can get my husband to
- 1:19:51travel? Alta, are you?
- 1:19:52Alta Are you doing Orlando? Yes, Romantic con.
- 1:19:55You will always see me. I will have the biggest FOMO if
- 1:19:58I don't do romantic con. Yeah.
- 1:20:01That's. Awesome.
- 1:20:02Yeah, Yeah. So it's, it's been great.
- 1:20:04I've loved getting to know people.
- 1:20:06And I just like that we, we all connect.
- 1:20:08And yeah, a lot of us have the same feelings about big crowds.
- 1:20:12Oh my God. Are you a girl?
- 1:20:14Are you getting ticketed soon because your line line was
- 1:20:18insane? We're so sweet and ass.
- 1:20:21I just it's me. I'm the problem.
- 1:20:23I I like hate. I feel I would feel so bad if I
- 1:20:28couldn't see everybody. I will if it becomes a menace
- 1:20:31like it was pretty packed with all of us in.
- 1:20:34I mean, it was. Right.
- 1:20:36Yeah, well, and it was like in Lai don't were you?
- 1:20:40It was LA right then, yeah. So you saw like Melissa's line,
- 1:20:43Demi's line, my line, and we were all just like.
- 1:20:47We had cuz Melissa's line was like next to yours, so we had
- 1:20:51and then Demis, yeah, hers was like the third one.
- 1:20:53And so it was just snaked around.
- 1:20:55Yeah. We talked in LA with the people
- 1:21:00and they're like if you wanna be ticketed.
- 1:21:02And I was like, I don't want to be a menace to anybody, but like
- 1:21:06I also want to see everybody too.
- 1:21:09I am ticketed in Edinburgh for that reason, because I'm only
- 1:21:11there for the one day. So yeah, I am.
- 1:21:13I am. Well, I saw on Melissa's
- 1:21:15Thursday. What day are you?
- 1:21:17Thursday yeah we're we both were going to rare so yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:21So she did the same thing. But they're so sweet to
- 1:21:23accommodate our our demands. That's awesome.
- 1:21:28Yeah, cuz that's a newer, that's the newest Romania.
- 1:21:31That's the first time they're doing it.
- 1:21:33I'll. Get them to do that.
- 1:21:37I'm going to London and I was already committed, so I was
- 1:21:42like, oh, I don't want to back out but but I'm like I told you,
- 1:21:45I have. I'll have FOMO if I don't go.
- 1:21:48So I'm like, we're going to that too.
- 1:21:49Yeah, so now Romania SICON is only in what, LA and Orlando?
- 1:21:54It's just the 2. Places and.
- 1:21:56Now. Yeah.
- 1:21:58And now Scotland. Yep.
- 1:21:59And then then what was the one that was in New York?
- 1:22:03That was what book con. That's book con.
- 1:22:05And then there was a Polycon. No.
- 1:22:07I did not go to a Polycon this year or book con Have a lot.
- 1:22:11I just like really want to be with my kids on.
- 1:22:13They had competitions and stuff and I like I said, I used to
- 1:22:16have a really unhealthy publishing schedule, so I've
- 1:22:18really tried to be around when they have events.
- 1:22:21A Polycon was right over my daughter's competitions and
- 1:22:25stuff like that. So I like, ah, good job, but I
- 1:22:27am going to miss Wyla's who Jennifer Armitrout's putting
- 1:22:30that on He's. Like Willa's or Wyla Willa,
- 1:22:33Willa Collins. Yeah, she's doing that first in
- 1:22:36September. It's her first time.
- 1:22:37So I I am going to that one so. Yeah, there's always more, and
- 1:22:42you have more books coming out, so it's like you will always be
- 1:22:45in here, right? It yeah, it just.
- 1:22:48Yeah, I just. I hate missing things, right?
- 1:22:50So yeah, decided to go to cheer competitions and.
- 1:22:53Stay. That's important.
- 1:22:55Yes, it is. But yeah, the way that your kids
- 1:22:57look at you when you're in the crowd, it makes it.
- 1:22:59Yeah, Yep. Yeah.
- 1:23:01This. This matters.
- 1:23:02Yeah, exactly. Is that your oldest or your
- 1:23:05youngest? Daughter, that was my youngest.
- 1:23:06Yeah, you. I couldn't catch my oldest
- 1:23:08daughter dead in a dance. Hall Yeah, you didn't you think
- 1:23:11she's the one that's like a rancher?
- 1:23:13Yeah. A.
- 1:23:14Ranch girl. Anyway, so.
- 1:23:18And then we got the Prince. This.
- 1:23:20Yes, Yeah. LJ, are you reading anything
- 1:23:23right now? Do you have anything?
- 1:23:25Yeah, I'm actually finishing. I'm blurbing, so I'm reading
- 1:23:29Helen Schuer's I'm Gonna Say Your Last Name.
- 1:23:32I don't. Know what?
- 1:23:33We don't say her name right here.
- 1:23:36Yeah, no, sure, I'm. Fortunate I got blurb it so
- 1:23:39that's really. Awesome.
- 1:23:41So is it how? How is it blurb it for us really
- 1:23:46quick? How?
- 1:23:46Are you not allowed to? I don't.
- 1:23:48I only am allowed to, but I hope you guys will order it because
- 1:23:53it's very nice. Oh yeah, yeah, we love Helen.
- 1:23:55Yeah. Oh yeah, It's on our list.
- 1:23:57O2 So is that like a are you, were you kind of like alpha beta
- 1:24:01reader or not really? Or is that just where you read
- 1:24:03it and then you make up your the blurb?
- 1:24:05Publishers will reach out to other authors just to, you know,
- 1:24:08like on the backs of books how they'll have like, oh, this is,
- 1:24:10yeah, that's what it is. It's pretty close to being
- 1:24:13finished. It's probably.
- 1:24:15I would say it's getting ready to be like proofread when they
- 1:24:19send blurb requests. Out so cool pretty.
- 1:24:22Set yeah, I love it yeah, it's been a lot of fun to get some
- 1:24:25cool requests so. See, these are all the secret
- 1:24:28parts of like publishing and bookmaking that most people like
- 1:24:31I'm I'm a newbie. I did not know that that that's
- 1:24:34how that. Works, No.
- 1:24:35She's a wonderful writer, so it's been really good so far.
- 1:24:38It's kind of, but it is hard because I'm like other readers.
- 1:24:41I don't want to. You have a cliffhanger.
- 1:24:42Yeah. Yes, she is.
- 1:24:45Detrimental from read books even with cliffhangers, my love.
- 1:24:48It shows authors you're interested, you know?
- 1:24:51Yeah. No, we love her.
- 1:24:54But Heather and I, we never pronounce her last name.
- 1:24:57We always we say. Shimmer Shimmer worm.
- 1:25:01Yeah, hard time pronouncing things too.
- 1:25:04But yeah, I have all her books. I have, I loved Blood and Steel.
- 1:25:08I love that. I, I read the, the standalone
- 1:25:11that she had the with that. And I always say read that as
- 1:25:15the book 3 and then read books four and five or three and four.
- 1:25:19I love that. And then I also have her ashes
- 1:25:21at Thesmar. I have them, they're on my
- 1:25:23bookshelf. I haven't read them yet but I I
- 1:25:26love how she writes as well. Yeah.
- 1:25:28She's she's really good. It's really unique.
- 1:25:30I love it, so it's really great. I think her book comes out.
- 1:25:33When does that book come out that that you're doing the
- 1:25:36blurb? I think it's September, I
- 1:25:38thought for. Quarter 3 is quite amazing,
- 1:25:42Quarter three and quarter four has a lot of amazing books are
- 1:25:45coming out, Yeah. Be a big one.
- 1:25:47Romantic. Yeah, I'm.
- 1:25:49Going to FOMO for not buying a ticket to Orlando now.
- 1:25:56Yeah I should do it. Just like, hey husband leaving
- 1:25:59for the weekend, here's the kids.
- 1:26:02I'm doing it. I see.
- 1:26:03I booked. So I really love TL Swan
- 1:26:07Contemporary and and she is going to be in Oregon.
- 1:26:11My brother lives in Oregon. So a month ago I booked the
- 1:26:14tickets and I'm going this next weekend and I feel so guilty now
- 1:26:17because I'm like, I have to work all week and then I'm going to
- 1:26:20be gone and I'm not going to see the kids.
- 1:26:22But I know that once I get there, I'm going to be totally
- 1:26:24fine. Oh, for sure, yeah.
- 1:26:27But right now I feel guilty. Yeah.
- 1:26:30That sounds. I think you're going to have a
- 1:26:31lot of fun, Yeah, when you go. Speaking of, is it in Portland?
- 1:26:35Yeah, yeah, it's just South of Portland.
- 1:26:38Rebecca, do you want to do your quick trope trials with her?
- 1:26:40Real quick, Oh trope. Trials.
- 1:26:41Oh yeah, Now these are. These are.
- 1:26:43Quicker for LJ to be this is. Quick.
- 1:26:46One game now this is This is Trope Trials.
- 1:26:49Now it's either a scream or a dream.
- 1:26:53Scream is bad. Dream is good.
- 1:26:56OK, all right, so now. Touch.
- 1:26:58I don't I don't yuck on people's young.
- 1:27:02OK, my friend died. Touch her, touch her and you die
- 1:27:07with a sour, a sword or an axe to the throat.
- 1:27:11Which is better first? I still think touch her and die
- 1:27:15if they act on it. I don't want them just saying
- 1:27:18it. I like it.
- 1:27:20Yeah. All right, all right, now, who
- 1:27:23did this to you? Is that still a classic, or is
- 1:27:26that ready to go to the grave? Again, I love it if they act on
- 1:27:30it, they build on this question and be like, I wish I wouldn't
- 1:27:35have done that to you. No, they're dead.
- 1:27:38Like I'm going to give them bone jewelry.
- 1:27:41Yes, you will have a necklace of their bones.
- 1:27:43AKA Eric blood Singer, it doesn't count.
- 1:27:47Like you can't just throw it in there and then it never being
- 1:27:50revisited like it. He needs to revenge, revenge,
- 1:27:54revenge. Action Yes.
- 1:27:57We're all about villains. Then it's superior.
- 1:28:00Now they don't need to say it in a book.
- 1:28:02They really don't need to say the line for me.
- 1:28:04Need to do the ACT, yes, yeah, yeah, Yep.
- 1:28:08Now in Enemies to Lovers, slow burn versus a forest fire.
- 1:28:13I think I am a slow burn, but I think my slow burns are faster
- 1:28:16than some slow burn readers. Like some people are like by
- 1:28:19book three they can kiss. I'm like, no, no, they need to
- 1:28:21kiss. Like you got to kiss in book
- 1:28:23while like I got to do something.
- 1:28:25Give us a little. Yeah, you got to give me a
- 1:28:27little touch. I've learned from talking to
- 1:28:31other readers. I think I'm like, my slow burn
- 1:28:33is not their slow burn. The slowest slow burn I've read
- 1:28:37is PED Cole in her ever flame series.
- 1:28:39That one drives the nuts. Fabulous.
- 1:28:44Yeah, yeah. Oh.
- 1:28:47Man, now this one here. Now would it be would you prefer
- 1:28:50to have a pirate captain with the heart of gold or a Viking
- 1:28:54king with a heart of ice? Like, OK, yeah, love, this is me
- 1:29:00grumpy characters who are icy to accept to her, like to their
- 1:29:05love interest. She has to have the heart of
- 1:29:06gold to her, even if it's a little dark.
- 1:29:09Yeah, so see, I love. That I don't.
- 1:29:11Know, I love a good pirate, but I love a good Viking.
- 1:29:13That was not fair. Yeah, yeah, be a grump.
- 1:29:20Everyone but her. Yeah, how?
- 1:29:23This is the last one now villains gets the girl versus a
- 1:29:27good guy that turns into a villain to save her.
- 1:29:32That's hard, Yeah, because it's fun to see their dark sides come
- 1:29:36out, for sure. But I do love a good villain
- 1:29:39from the beginning where he just like, look, this is me, I'm
- 1:29:41going to love you and I'm also going to burn everybody.
- 1:29:44Right. Yeah, I'm not changing.
- 1:29:46I do. Love a villain gets the girl,
- 1:29:48probably gets the girl. Yeah, I am deep, deep in my
- 1:29:52villain era. That is where I'm at.
- 1:29:54Everything I am, for me, everything is spicy.
- 1:29:58I I do not do the fade to black kind of thing.
- 1:30:02And I am romanticy, dark fantasy, dark romance.
- 1:30:05That is my wheelhouse. That is who I am.
- 1:30:08But oh, I'm so dark, deep in that villain era.
- 1:30:12Now. If have you ever read the The
- 1:30:13Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy?
- 1:30:16Oh, you have not read that yet? I know it's what you're talking
- 1:30:18about. Now if you if you ever get the
- 1:30:21chance to the main male character is my husband.
- 1:30:25Yeah. I know and actually my husband
- 1:30:27in real life. The thing is, I honestly, I
- 1:30:30think you'll hear this from a lot of romanticity authors.
- 1:30:32When we're done writing a book, we tend to drift out.
- 1:30:34Like I will go more contemporary dark romance, then I will stick
- 1:30:38to romanticity. So I it's been interesting.
- 1:30:40I actually leave my genre for a bit, so I haven't read a lot of
- 1:30:44popular pop. Yeah.
- 1:30:46Yeah, and I mean also. This makes sense, yeah.
- 1:30:48Character is yelling at you in your head.
- 1:30:50I imagine that being in that world so much is hard.
- 1:30:55Yeah, I'm a mafia reader. I love a good mafia.
- 1:30:58That's yeah. I mean, that does make sense,
- 1:31:03though. I mean, you know, if you are in
- 1:31:05those worlds all the time, it is.
- 1:31:07It's nice to have like a break from that.
- 1:31:09Yeah, I've found. Blurbs are the ones where I go
- 1:31:11back to romanticism when I'm blurbing.
- 1:31:13It so I've got some LJ Shen mafias that I haven't read quite
- 1:31:17yet, but I'm excited. I just, I loved her.
- 1:31:19Vicious. Yeah, I love that on my shelf.
- 1:31:22I just need to reconsider. Mafia.
- 1:31:24But I did love it. Yeah, he's very morally Gray and
- 1:31:27a big jerk, and I was like, but I love him.
- 1:31:29Yeah, of course. But Daddy.
- 1:31:32I love him. He's like awful.
- 1:31:35And I'm like, why do I like you? I myself, I will always take a
- 1:31:41morally Gray man over like a golden retriever kind of guy any
- 1:31:44day in my books. Yeah, he's he was a, he was a
- 1:31:47butt head, but I like it. Now, before we let you go and go
- 1:31:53back to the Everseas, will you tell everybody where they can
- 1:31:56find your books, how to follow you so that they can, you know,
- 1:32:00get all the stolen crown information and all that good
- 1:32:03stuff? So you can find my books
- 1:32:06anywhere books are sold. I know you probably hear that a
- 1:32:08lot, but it's true. I if you want my indie books,
