- 0:22SPEAKER_00: The creative life is not just about accumulating good things, it's also knowing when to let them go.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Consider the books on your bookshelf.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Some of those books were relevant in your life a decade or two ago, but you've outgrown those books.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And every time you see them on your shelf, you feel kind of guilty, but you can't bring yourself to let them go.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Remember though that a book is more than paper, ink, and glue.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: A book actually has a soul.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: A book doesn't want to sit on your shelf unused and unloved.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So when you pass those books on to somebody else, you free up space in your office or your home and you give those books a chance to share their treasures with new owners.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So if you no longer need a book, you're not really doing it a favor by hanging on to it.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: You're actually doing that book a disservice and you're keeping it from fulfilling its purpose.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: So give that book a chance to do what it wants to do by sharing it with friends or donating them to goodwill or selling those books.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: It's okay to acknowledge that something has served its purpose in your life.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: So be grateful and release it to do its work elsewhere.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: When you do this with books, you'll make room for new and more relevant ones that can support you on your journey.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Are there books on your shelf that have served their purpose in your life and are you willing to part with them?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: If you're tired of hearing book marketing advice from people who haven't published a book, you'll love this course developed by Honore Corter, a business coach who sold over four million books.
