- 0:18Speaker 1: by Sam Stinson, Chapter zero, the introduction the Psalms of Solomon.
- 0:25Speaker 1: This collection of eighteen war songs are the gift of
- 0:28Speaker 1: an ancient Semitic writer. The original manuscript has perished, but
- 0:32Speaker 1: fortunately Greek translations have been preserved, and recently a Psyriac
- 0:37Speaker 1: version of the same songs has turned up and was
- 0:40Speaker 1: published in English for the first time in nineteen o
- 0:43Speaker 1: nine by doctor Rendall Harris. The date of the writing
- 0:46Speaker 1: may be established at the middle of the first century BC,
- 0:50Speaker 1: because the theme of these songs is that of Pompey's actions
- 0:53Speaker 1: in Palestine and his death in Egypt in forty eight
- 0:56Speaker 1: b C. These psalms had an important position and were
- 1:00Speaker 1: widely circulated in the early Church. They are frequently referred
- 1:04Speaker 1: to in the various codexes and histories of the first
- 1:07Speaker 1: few centuries of the Christian era. Later, they became lost
- 1:11Speaker 1: through inexplicable reasons and have only been recovered for our
- 1:15Speaker 1: use after the lapse of many centuries. Besides the literary
- 1:19Speaker 1: value of the trumpet like rhythm of these verses, we
- 1:22Speaker 1: have here a chapter of stirring ancient history written by
- 1:25Speaker 1: an eye witness. Pompey comes out of the west. He
- 1:29Speaker 1: uses battering rams on the fortifications, His soldiers defile the altar.
- 1:34Speaker 1: He is slain in Egypt after a fearful career. In
- 1:38Speaker 1: the righteous of these psalms, we see the Pharisees, in
- 1:42Speaker 1: the sinners, we see the saduses. It is an epoch
- 1:45Speaker 1: of a great people in the throes of a great crisis.
- 1:50Speaker 1: End of chapter zero, Chapter one. I cried unto the
- 1:55Speaker 1: Lord when I was in distress, unto God, when sinners assail.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Suddenly the alarm of war was heard before me. I said,
- 2:04Speaker 1: he will hearken to me, for I am full of righteousness.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I thought in my heart that I was full of
- 2:09Speaker 1: righteousness because I was well off and had become rich
- 2:13Speaker 1: in children. Their wealth spread to the whole earth, and
- 2:17Speaker 1: their glory unto the end of the earth. They were
- 2:20Speaker 1: exalted unto the stars. They said they would never fan,
- 2:24Speaker 1: but they became insolent in their prosperity, and they were
- 2:27Speaker 1: without understanding. Their sins were in secret, and even I
- 2:31Speaker 1: had no knowledge of them. Their transgressions went beyond those
- 2:35Speaker 1: of the heathen. Before them they utterly polluted the holy
- 2:38Speaker 1: things of the Lord. End of Chapter one, Chapter two.
- 2:44Speaker 1: When the Sinner waxed pround with a battering ram, he
- 2:47Speaker 1: cast down fortified walls, and thou didst not restrain him.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Alien nations ascended thine altar. They trampled it proudly with
- 2:56Speaker 1: their sandals. Because the sons of Jerusalem had defiled thee
- 3:00Speaker 1: the holy things of the Lord, had profaned with iniquities,
- 3:03Speaker 1: the offerings of God. Therefore he said, cast them far
- 3:07Speaker 1: from me. It was said it naught before God. It
- 3:11Speaker 1: was utterly dishonored. The sons and the daughters were in
- 3:14Speaker 1: grievous captivity. Sealed was their neck branded? Was it among
- 3:19Speaker 1: the nations according to their sins? Hath he done unto them,
- 3:23Speaker 1: For he hath left them in the hands of them
- 3:25Speaker 1: that prevailed. He hath turned away his face from pitying them,
- 3:30Speaker 1: young and old and their children together, for they had
- 3:33Speaker 1: done evil, one and all in not hearkening, and the
- 3:37Speaker 1: heavens were angry and the earth abhorred them, for no
- 3:41Speaker 1: man upon it had done what they did. And the
- 3:44Speaker 1: earth recognized all thy righteous judgments, O God. They set
- 3:48Speaker 1: the sons of Jerusalem to be mocked at in return
- 3:52Speaker 1: for the harlots in her every wayfarer entered in. In
- 3:56Speaker 1: the full light of day, they made mock with their transgressions,
- 4:01Speaker 1: as they themselves were wont to do. In the full
- 4:04Speaker 1: light of day, they revealed their iniquities, and the daughters
- 4:08Speaker 1: of Jerusalem were defiled in accordance with Thy judgment, because
- 4:12Speaker 1: they had defiled themselves with unnatural intercourse. I am pained
- 4:16Speaker 1: in my bowels, in my inward parts for these things.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And yet I will justify thee O God, an uprightness
- 4:24Speaker 1: of heart, For in thy judgments is thy righteousness displayed,
- 4:28Speaker 1: O God. For thou hast rendered to the sinners according
- 4:31Speaker 1: to their deeds, yea, according to their sins, which were
- 4:34Speaker 1: very wicked. Thou hast uncovered their sins that thy judgment
- 4:39Speaker 1: might be manifest. Thou hast wiped out their memorial from
- 4:42Speaker 1: the earth. God is a righteous judge, and he is
- 4:46Speaker 1: no respector of persons. For the nations reproached Jerusalem trampling
- 4:52Speaker 1: it down. Her beauty was dragged down from the throne
- 4:55Speaker 1: of glory. She girded on sackcloth instead of comely raiment,
- 5:00Speaker 1: the rope was about her head instead of a crown.
- 5:03Speaker 1: She put off the glorious diadem which God had set
- 5:06Speaker 1: upon her. In dishonor, was her beauty cast upon the ground.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And I saw and entreated the Lord, and said, long enough,
- 5:14Speaker 1: O Lord, has thine hand been heavy on Israel in
- 5:18Speaker 1: bringing the nations upon them? For they have made sport
- 5:22Speaker 1: unsparingly and wrath in fierce anger. And they will make
- 5:25Speaker 1: an under end unless thou, O Lord, rebuke them in
- 5:29Speaker 1: thy wrath. For they have done it not in zeal,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but in lust of soul, pouring out their wrath upon us,
- 5:38Speaker 1: with a view to rapine. Delay not, o God, to
- 5:42Speaker 1: recompense them on their heads, to turn the pride of
- 5:45Speaker 1: the dragon into dishonor. And I had not long to
- 5:49Speaker 1: wait before God showed me the insolent one, slain on
- 5:53Speaker 1: the mountains of Egypt, esteemed of less account than the
- 5:57Speaker 1: least on land and sea, His body too borne hither
- 6:03Speaker 1: and thither on the billows with much insolence, with none
- 6:07Speaker 1: to bury him, because he had rejected him with dishonor.
- 6:11Speaker 1: He reflected not that he was man, and reflected not
- 6:15Speaker 1: on the latter end. He said, I will be lord
- 6:19Speaker 1: of land and sea. And he recognized not that it
- 6:23Speaker 1: is God who is great, mighty in his great strength.
- 6:27Speaker 1: He is king over the heavens, and judgeth kings and kingdoms.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It is he who setteth me up in glory, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: bringeth down the proud to eternal destruction and dishonor, because
- 6:38Speaker 1: they knew him not. And now behold, ye, princes of
- 6:42Speaker 1: the earth, the judgment of the Lord. For a great
- 6:46Speaker 1: king and righteous is he judging all that is under heaven.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Bless God, ye that fear the Lord with wisdom, For
- 6:54Speaker 1: the mercy of the Lord will be upon them that
- 6:57Speaker 1: fear him in the judgment, so so that He will
- 7:00Speaker 1: distinguish between the righteous and the sinner, and recompense the
- 7:04Speaker 1: sinners forever according to their deeds, and have mercy on
- 7:08Speaker 1: the righteous, delivering him from the affliction of the sinner,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to
- 7:15Speaker 1: the righteous. For the Lord is good to them that
- 7:18Speaker 1: call upon him in patience, doing according to his mercy,
- 7:23Speaker 1: to his pious ones, establishing them at all times before
- 7:27Speaker 1: him in strength. Blessed be the Lord forever before his servants.
- 7:34Speaker 1: End of Chapter two, Chapter three. Why sleepest thou, o
- 7:40Speaker 1: my soul, and blessest not the Lord? Sing a new
- 7:44Speaker 1: song unto God, who is worthy to be praised. Sing
- 7:47Speaker 1: and be wakeful against His awaking for good is a
- 7:51Speaker 1: psalm sung to God from a glad heart. The righteous
- 7:55Speaker 1: remember the Lord at all times with thanksgiving and declaration
- 8:00Speaker 1: of the righteousness of the Lord's judgments. The Righteous despiseth
- 8:05Speaker 1: not the chastening of the Lord. His will is always
- 8:08Speaker 1: before the Lord. The righteous stumbleth and holdeth the Lord righteous.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He falleth and looketh out for what God will do
- 8:16Speaker 1: to him. He seeketh out whence his deliverance will come.
- 8:20Speaker 1: The steadfastness of the righteous is from God their deliverer.
- 8:25Speaker 1: There lodgeth not in the house of the righteous sin
- 8:28Speaker 1: upon sin. The Righteous continually searcheth his house to remove
- 8:33Speaker 1: utterly all iniquity done by him in error. He maketh
- 8:36Speaker 1: atonement for sins of ignorance by fasting and afflicting his soul,
- 8:41Speaker 1: And the Lord counteth guiltless. Every pious man and his house.
- 8:46Speaker 1: The sinner stumbleth and curseth his life the day when
- 8:50Speaker 1: he was begotten, and his mother's travail. He addeth sinds
- 8:54Speaker 1: to sins. While he liveth, he falleth verily grievous is
- 8:59Speaker 1: his fall, and riseth no more. The destruction of the
- 9:02Speaker 1: sinner is forever, and he shall not be remembered when
- 9:06Speaker 1: the righteous is visited. This is the portion of sinners forever.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and their life shall be in the light of the Lord,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and shall come to an end no more. End of
- 9:23Speaker 1: chapter three, Chapter four. Wherefore sittest thou, o, profane man,
- 9:29Speaker 1: in the counsel of the pious, seeing that thy heart
- 9:33Speaker 1: is far removed from the Lord, provoking with transgressions. The
- 9:37Speaker 1: God of Israel, extravagant in speech, extravagant in outward seeming
- 9:42Speaker 1: beyond all men, is he that is severe of speech
- 9:46Speaker 1: in condemning sinners and judgment. And his hand is first
- 9:50Speaker 1: upon him, as though he acted in zeal And. Yet
- 9:54Speaker 1: he is himself guilty in respect of manifold sins and
- 9:57Speaker 1: of wantonness. His eyes eyes are upon every woman without distinction.
- 10:03Speaker 1: His tongue lieth when he maketh contract with an oath.
- 10:07Speaker 1: By night and in secret he sinneth, as though unseen
- 10:11Speaker 1: with his eyes. He talketh to every woman of evil compacts.
- 10:15Speaker 1: He is swift to enter every house with cheerfulness, as
- 10:19Speaker 1: though guileless. Let God remove those that live in hypocrisy
- 10:24Speaker 1: in the company of the pious, even the life of
- 10:27Speaker 1: such an one with corruption of his flesh and penury.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Let God reveal the deeds of the men pleasers, the
- 10:35Speaker 1: deeds of such an one, with laughter and derision, that
- 10:39Speaker 1: the pious may count righteous the judgment of their God.
- 10:42Speaker 1: When sinners are removed from before the righteous, even the
- 10:46Speaker 1: man pleaser who uttereth long guilefully, and their eyes are
- 10:50Speaker 1: fixed upon any man's house that is still secure, that
- 10:54Speaker 1: they may, like the serpent, destroy the wisdom of with
- 10:58Speaker 1: words of transgressor his words are deceitful, that he may
- 11:03Speaker 1: accomplish his wicked desire. He never ceaseth from scattering families
- 11:08Speaker 1: as though they were orphans. Yea, he layeth waste a
- 11:12Speaker 1: house on account of his lawless desire. He deceiveth with words,
- 11:17Speaker 1: saying there is none that seeth or judgeth He fills
- 11:21Speaker 1: one house with lawlessness, and then his eyes are fixed
- 11:24Speaker 1: upon the next house, to destroy it with words that
- 11:28Speaker 1: give wing to desire. Yet with all these, his soul,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like she ole, is not sated. Let his portion, O Lord,
- 11:37Speaker 1: be dishonored before thee. Let him go forth groaning and
- 11:41Speaker 1: come home cursed. Let his life be spent in anguish,
- 11:45Speaker 1: in penury and want, O Lord. Let his sleep be
- 11:49Speaker 1: beset with pains, in his awaking with perplexities. Let sleep
- 11:54Speaker 1: be withdrawn from his eyelids at night. Let him fail
- 11:57Speaker 1: this honorably in every work of his hand. Let him
- 12:00Speaker 1: come home empty handed to his house, and his house
- 12:04Speaker 1: be void of everything wherewith he could sate his appetite.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Let his old age be spent in childless loneliness until
- 12:12Speaker 1: his removal by death. Let the flesh of the men
- 12:15Speaker 1: pleasers be rent by wild beasts, and let the bones
- 12:19Speaker 1: of the lawless lie dishonored in the sight of the sun.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Let ravens peck out the eyes of the hypocrites. For
- 12:27Speaker 1: they have laid waste many houses of men in dishonor,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and scattered them in their lust. And they have not
- 12:34Speaker 1: remembered God nor feared God in all these things, but
- 12:38Speaker 1: they have provoked God's anger and vexed him. May He
- 12:41Speaker 1: remove them from off the earth, because with deceit they
- 12:45Speaker 1: beguiled the souls of the flawless. Blessed are they that
- 12:48Speaker 1: fear the Lord in their flawlessness. The Lord shall deliver
- 12:52Speaker 1: them from guileful men and sinners, and deliver us from
- 12:57Speaker 1: every stumbling block of the lawless men. Let God destroy
- 13:01Speaker 1: them that insolently work all in righteousness, For a great
- 13:05Speaker 1: and mighty judge is the Lord, our God. In righteousness.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that
- 13:12Speaker 1: love thee. End of Chapter four, Chapter five, O Lord God,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I will praise thy name with joy in the midst
- 13:22Speaker 1: of them that know thy righteous judgments, for Thou art
- 13:25Speaker 1: good and merciful, the refuge of the poor. When I
- 13:29Speaker 1: cry to THEE, do not silently disregard me. For no
- 13:33Speaker 1: man taketh spoil from a mighty man, Who then can
- 13:37Speaker 1: take aught of a that thou hast made, except thou
- 13:41Speaker 1: thyself givest for man and his portion lie before THEE.
- 13:45Speaker 1: In the balance he cannot add too, so as to
- 13:48Speaker 1: enlarge what has been prescribed by THEE, O God. When
- 13:53Speaker 1: we are in distress, we call upon THEE for help,
- 13:56Speaker 1: And thou dost not turn back our petition. For thou art,
- 14:00Speaker 1: our God, cause not thy hand to be heavy upon us,
- 14:04Speaker 1: lest through necessity we sin, even though thou restore us.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Not we will not keep away. But unto THEE will
- 14:12Speaker 1: we come. For if I hunger, unto THEE, will I cry,
- 14:16Speaker 1: O God, and thou wilt give to me birds and fish?
- 14:21Speaker 1: Dost thou nourish, And that thou givest rain to the
- 14:24Speaker 1: steps that green grass may spring up, so to prepare
- 14:29Speaker 1: fodder in the step for every living thing. And if
- 14:32Speaker 1: they hunger unto thee, do they lift up their face?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Kings and rulers and peoples, Thou dost nourish, O God,
- 14:40Speaker 1: And who is the help of the poor and needy?
- 14:43Speaker 1: If not thou, o Lord, and thou wilt hearken for
- 14:47Speaker 1: who is good and gentle? But thou making glad the
- 14:51Speaker 1: soul of the humble by opening Thine hand in mercy.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Man's goodness is bestowed grudgingly, and if he repeat it
- 15:00Speaker 1: without murmuring, even that is marvelous. But thy gift is
- 15:05Speaker 1: great and goodness and wealth. And he whose hope is
- 15:09Speaker 1: set on thee shall have no lack of gifts. Upon
- 15:13Speaker 1: the whole earth is thy mercy, O Lord in goodness.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Happy is he whom God remembereth in granting to him
- 15:21Speaker 1: a due sufficiency. If a man abound over much, he
- 15:25Speaker 1: sinneth sufficient are moderate means with righteousness. And hereby the
- 15:30Speaker 1: blessing of the Lord becomes abundance with righteousness. They that
- 15:35Speaker 1: fear the Lord rejoice in good gifts. And Thy goodness
- 15:39Speaker 1: is upon Israel in thy kingdom. Blessed is the glory
- 15:43Speaker 1: of the Lord, for he is our King. End of
- 15:47Speaker 1: chapter five, Chapter six. Happy is the man whose heart
- 15:52Speaker 1: is fixed to call upon the name of the Lord.
- 15:55Speaker 1: When he remembereth the name of the Lord, he will
- 15:58Speaker 1: be saved. These ways are made even by the Lord,
- 16:03Speaker 1: and the works of his hands are preserved by the
- 16:05Speaker 1: Lord his God. And what he sees in his bad dreams,
- 16:09Speaker 1: his soul shall not be troubled. When he passes through
- 16:13Speaker 1: rivers and the tossing of the seas, he shall not
- 16:17Speaker 1: be dismayed. He ariseth from his sleep and blesseth the
- 16:21Speaker 1: name of the Lord. When his heart is at peace,
- 16:26Speaker 1: he singeth to the name of his God, and he
- 16:29Speaker 1: entreateth the Lord for all his house, And the Lord
- 16:32Speaker 1: heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God, and
- 16:36Speaker 1: every request of the soul that hopes for him doth
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Lord accomplish. Blessed is the Lord who sheweth mercy
- 16:44Speaker 1: to those who love him in sincerity. And of chapter six,
- 16:49Speaker 1: Chapter seven, Make not thy dwelling afar from us, O God,
- 16:55Speaker 1: lest they assail us that hate us without cause, For
- 16:59Speaker 1: thou hast reached rejected them, O God, Let not their
- 17:02Speaker 1: foot trample upon thy holy inheritance. Chasten us thyself and
- 17:07Speaker 1: thy good pleasure. But give us not up to the nations.
- 17:11Speaker 1: For if thou sendest pestilence, thou thyself givest it charge
- 17:16Speaker 1: concerning us. For thou art merciful, and wilt not be
- 17:20Speaker 1: angry to the point of consuming us. While thy name
- 17:23Speaker 1: dwelleth in our midst, we shall find mercy, and the
- 17:27Speaker 1: nations shall not prevail against us, for thou art our shield.
- 17:32Speaker 1: And when we call upon thee, thou hearken us to us,
- 17:35Speaker 1: for thou wilt pity the seed of Israel for ever,
- 17:38Speaker 1: and thou wilt not reject them. But we shall be
- 17:42Speaker 1: under thy yoke forever, and under the rod of thy chastening,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Thou wilt establish us in the time that thou helpest us,
- 17:51Speaker 1: showing mercy to the house of Jacob on the day
- 17:54Speaker 1: wherein thou didst promise to help them. And of Chapter seven,
- 18:00Speaker 1: Chapter eight distress and the sound of war. Hath my
- 18:05Speaker 1: ear heard the sound of a trumpet announcing slaughter and calamity,
- 18:10Speaker 1: the sound of much people, as of an exceeding high wind,
- 18:14Speaker 1: as a tempest with mighty fires sweeping through the Negeb.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And I said in my heart, surely God judgeth us
- 18:22Speaker 1: a sound I hear moving towards Jerusalem, the Holy City.
- 18:25Speaker 1: My loins were broken at what I heard. My knees tottered,
- 18:30Speaker 1: My heart was afraid. My bones were dismayed like flax.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I said, they established their ways and righteousness. I thought
- 18:39Speaker 1: upon the judgments of God since the creation of heaven
- 18:42Speaker 1: and earth. I held God righteous in his judgments, which
- 18:46Speaker 1: have been from of old. God bare their sins. In
- 18:49Speaker 1: the full light of day, all the earth came to
- 18:52Speaker 1: know the righteous judgments of God. In secret places underground,
- 18:56Speaker 1: their iniquities were committed to provoke Him to anger. They
- 19:00Speaker 1: wrought confusion son with mother and father with daughter. They
- 19:05Speaker 1: committed adultery, every man with his neighbor's wife. They concluded
- 19:10Speaker 1: covenants with one another with an oath. Touching these things.
- 19:13Speaker 1: They plundered the sanctuary of God, as though there was
- 19:16Speaker 1: no avenger. They trode the altar of the Lord, coming
- 19:20Speaker 1: straight from all manner of uncleanness, and with menstrual blood.
- 19:24Speaker 1: They defiled the sacrifices, as though these were common flesh.
- 19:28Speaker 1: They left no sin undone, wherein they surpassed not the heathen. Therefore,
- 19:34Speaker 1: God mingled for them a spirit of wandering, and gave
- 19:38Speaker 1: them to drink a cup of undiluted wine, that they
- 19:41Speaker 1: might become drunken. He brought him that is from the
- 19:45Speaker 1: end of the earth, that smiteth mightily. He decreed war
- 19:48Speaker 1: against Jerusalem and against her land. The princes of the
- 19:52Speaker 1: land went to meet him with joy. They said, unto him,
- 19:56Speaker 1: blessed be thy way, Come ye, enter ye in with peace.
- 20:01Speaker 1: They made the rough ways even before his entering in.
- 20:05Speaker 1: They opened the gates to Jerusalem. They crowned its walls.
- 20:09Speaker 1: As a father entereth the house of his sons, So
- 20:12Speaker 1: he entered Jerusalem in peace. He established his feet there
- 20:17Speaker 1: in great safety. He captured her fortresses and the wall
- 20:21Speaker 1: of Jerusalem, for God himself led him in safety. While
- 20:25Speaker 1: they wandered, he destroyed their princes and every one wise
- 20:28Speaker 1: in council. He poured out the blood of the inhabitants
- 20:31Speaker 1: of Jerusalem like the water of uncleanness. He led away
- 20:35Speaker 1: their sons and daughters, whom they had begotten in defilement.
- 20:40Speaker 1: They did according to their uncleanness, even as their father
- 20:43Speaker 1: had done. They defiled Jerusalem, and the things that had
- 20:49Speaker 1: been howlowed to the name of God. But God hath
- 20:53Speaker 1: shown himself righteous in his judgments upon the nations of
- 20:56Speaker 1: the earth. And the pious servants of God are like
- 20:59Speaker 1: innocent life in their midst, worthy to be praised as
- 21:03Speaker 1: the Lord that judgeest the whole earth in his righteousness.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Behold now, o God, thou hast shown us thy judgment,
- 21:11Speaker 1: in thy righteousness. Our eyes have seen thy judgments. O God,
- 21:16Speaker 1: we have justified thy name that is honored forever. For
- 21:20Speaker 1: thou art the God of righteousness, judging Israel with chastening Turn,
- 21:25Speaker 1: O God, thy mercy upon us, and have pity upon us.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Gather together the dispersed of Israel with mercy and goodness.
- 21:33Speaker 1: For thy faithfulness is with us. And though we have
- 21:37Speaker 1: stiffened our neck, yet thou art our chastener overlook us, not,
- 21:42Speaker 1: o our God, lest the nations swallow us up, as
- 21:46Speaker 1: though there were none to deliver. But thou art our
- 21:49Speaker 1: God from the beginning. And upon THEE is our hope. Set,
- 21:53Speaker 1: O Lord, and we will not depart from THEE. For
- 21:56Speaker 1: good are thy judgments upon us, ours and our childrens.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Be thy good pleasure forever, O Lord, our Savior, we
- 22:05Speaker 1: shall never more be moved. The Lord is worthy to
- 22:08Speaker 1: be praised for his judgments with the mouth of his
- 22:12Speaker 1: pious ones. And blessed be Israel of the Lord forever.
- 22:17Speaker 1: End of Chapter eight. Chapter nine. When Israel was led
- 22:22Speaker 1: away captive into a strange land, when they fell away
- 22:26Speaker 1: from the Lord who redeemed them, they were cast away
- 22:29Speaker 1: from the inheritance which the Lord had given them. Among
- 22:32Speaker 1: every nation were the dispersed of Israel according to the
- 22:35Speaker 1: word of God, that thou mightest be justified, O God,
- 22:39Speaker 1: in thy righteousness, by reason of our transgressions. For thou
- 22:44Speaker 1: art a just judge over all the peoples of the earth.
- 22:48Speaker 1: For from thy knowledge none that doeth unjustly is hidden,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and the righteous deeds of thy pious ones are before thee,
- 22:55Speaker 1: O Lord. Where then can a man hide himself from
- 22:59Speaker 1: thy knowledge, O God? Our works are subject to our
- 23:03Speaker 1: own choice and power to do right or wrong in
- 23:06Speaker 1: the works of our hands, and in thy righteousness. Thou
- 23:10Speaker 1: visitest the sons of men. He that doeth righteousness layeth
- 23:14Speaker 1: up life for himself with the Lord, and he that
- 23:17Speaker 1: doeth wrongly forfeits his life to destruction. For the judgments
- 23:21Speaker 1: of the Lord are given in righteousness to every man
- 23:25Speaker 1: in his house, unto whom art thou good, O God,
- 23:29Speaker 1: except to them that call upon the Lord. He cleanseth
- 23:33Speaker 1: from sins, a soul when it maketh confession, when it
- 23:36Speaker 1: maketh acknowledgment. For shame is upon us and on our
- 23:40Speaker 1: faces on account of all these things. And to whom
- 23:44Speaker 1: doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Thou blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for
- 23:52Speaker 1: the sins that they have committed. And Thy goodness is
- 23:55Speaker 1: upon them that sin when they repent. And now thou
- 23:59Speaker 1: art our God, and we the people whom thou hast loved.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we
- 24:07Speaker 1: are thine, and remove not thy mercy from us lest
- 24:11Speaker 1: they assail us. For thou didst choose the seat of
- 24:14Speaker 1: Abraham before all nations, and didst set thy name upon us,
- 24:18Speaker 1: O Lord, And thou wilt not reject us forever. Thou
- 24:22Speaker 1: madest a covenant with our fathers concerning us. And we
- 24:26Speaker 1: hope in THEE when our soul turneth unto THEE, the
- 24:29Speaker 1: mercy of the Lord be upon the House of Israel
- 24:32Speaker 1: forever and ever. End of chapter nine, Chapters ten through

- 25:03Speaker 1: Happy is the man whom the Lord remembereth with reproving,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and whom he restraineth from the way of evil with strokes,
- 25:11Speaker 1: that he may be cleansed from sin, that it may
- 25:14Speaker 1: not be multiplied. He that maketh ready his back for
- 25:19Speaker 1: strokes shall be cleansed. For the Lord is good to
- 25:22Speaker 1: them that endure chastening, for He maketh straight the ways
- 25:26Speaker 1: of the righteous, and doth not pervert them by his chastening.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And the mercy of the Lord is upon them that
- 25:32Speaker 1: love Him in truth. And the Lord remembereth his servants
- 25:35Speaker 1: in mercy. But the testimony is in the law of
- 25:39Speaker 1: the Eternal Covenant. The testimony of the Lord is on
- 25:42Speaker 1: the ways of men in his visitation. Just and kind
- 25:46Speaker 1: is our Lord in his judgments forever. And Israel shall
- 25:50Speaker 1: praise the name of the Lord in gladness, and the
- 25:53Speaker 1: pious shall give thanks. And the assembly of the people,
- 25:57Speaker 1: and on the poor, shall God have mercy in the
- 26:00Speaker 1: gladness of Israel. For good and merciful is God forever,
- 26:05Speaker 1: and the assemblies of Israel shall glorify the name of
- 26:08Speaker 1: the Lord. The salvation of the Lord be upon the
- 26:11Speaker 1: house of Israel, unto everlasting gladness. End of Chapter ten.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Chapter eleven. Blow Ye and Zion on the trumpet to
- 26:21Speaker 1: summon the saints. Cause ye to be heard in Jerusalem
- 26:25Speaker 1: the voice of Him that bringeth good tidings. For God
- 26:28Speaker 1: hath had pity on Israel in visiting them. Stand on
- 26:32Speaker 1: the height o Jerusalem and behold thy children from the
- 26:36Speaker 1: East and the West, gathered together by the Lord. From
- 26:40Speaker 1: the north, they come in the gladness of their God,
- 26:43Speaker 1: from the Isles Afar Off God hath gathered them high
- 26:47Speaker 1: mountains hath he abased into a plain for them. The
- 26:51Speaker 1: hills fled at their entrance. The woods gave them shelter
- 26:55Speaker 1: as they passed by. Every sweet smelling tree God caused
- 27:00Speaker 1: to spring up for them, that Israel might pass by
- 27:04Speaker 1: in the visitation of the glory of their God. Put on,
- 27:08Speaker 1: o Jerusalem, thy glorious garments, Make ready thy holy robe.
- 27:14Speaker 1: For God hath spoken good concerning Israel, forever and ever.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Let the Lord do what he hath spoken concerning Israel
- 27:22Speaker 1: and Jerusalem. Let the Lord raise up Israel by his
- 27:26Speaker 1: glorious name. The mercy of the Lord be upon Israel
- 27:30Speaker 1: forever and ever. End of Chapter eleven, Chapter twelve, O, Lord,
- 27:37Speaker 1: deliver my soul from the lawless and wicked man, from
- 27:41Speaker 1: the tongue that is lawless and slanderous, and speaketh lies
- 27:46Speaker 1: and deceit menifoldly twisted are the words of the tongue
- 27:51Speaker 1: of the wicked man, even as among a people a
- 27:55Speaker 1: fire that burneth up their beauty, so he delights to
- 27:58Speaker 1: fill houses with a lying tongue, to cut down the
- 28:01Speaker 1: trees of gladness, which setteth on fire, transgressors to involve
- 28:06Speaker 1: households in warfare by means of slanderous lips. May God
- 28:11Speaker 1: remove far from the innocent the lips of transgressors by
- 28:16Speaker 1: bringing them to wont. And may the bones of slanderers
- 28:19Speaker 1: be scatter'd far away from them that fear the Lord,
- 28:23Speaker 1: and flaming fire perish the slander's tongue far away from
- 28:28Speaker 1: the pious. May the Lord preserve the quiet soul that
- 28:31Speaker 1: hateth the unrighteous. And may the Lord establish the man
- 28:35Speaker 1: that followeth peace at home. The salvation of the Lord
- 28:39Speaker 1: be upon Israel, his servant forever. And let the sinners
- 28:43Speaker 1: perish together at the presence of the Lord. But let
- 28:47Speaker 1: the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And of Chapter twelve. Chapter thirteen. The right hand of
- 28:57Speaker 1: the Lord hath covered me, the right hand of the life.
- 29:00Speaker 1: The Lord hath spared us. The arm of the Lord
- 29:03Speaker 1: Hath saved us from the sword that passed through. From
- 29:07Speaker 1: famine and the death of sinners. Noisome beasts ran upon
- 29:11Speaker 1: them with their teeth, they tore the flesh, and with
- 29:14Speaker 1: their molers crush'd their bones. But from all these things
- 29:18Speaker 1: the Lord deliver'd us. The righteous was troubled an account
- 29:21Speaker 1: of his errors, lest he should be taken away along
- 29:25Speaker 1: with the sinners. For terrible is the overthrow of the sinner.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But not one of all these things toucheth the righteous.
- 29:33Speaker 1: For not alike are the chastening of the righteous, for
- 29:36Speaker 1: sins done in ignorance, and the overthrow of the sinners.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Secretly is the righteous chasten'd, lest the sinner rejoice over
- 29:45Speaker 1: the righteous. For he correcteth the righteous as a beloved son,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and his chastisement is as that of a first born.
- 29:54Speaker 1: For the Lord spareth his pious ones and blotteth out
- 29:58Speaker 1: their errors by his chastening. For the life of the
- 30:01Speaker 1: righteous shall be forever, But sinners shall be taken away
- 30:05Speaker 1: into destruction, and their memorial shall be found no more.
- 30:10Speaker 1: But upon the pious is the mercy of the Lord,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and upon them that fear him his mercy. End of
- 30:18Speaker 1: Chapter thirteen, Chapter fourteen. Faithful is the Lord to them
- 30:23Speaker 1: that love him in truth, to them that endure his chastening,
- 30:27Speaker 1: to them that walk in the righteousness of His commandments
- 30:31Speaker 1: in the law which he commanded us that we might live.
- 30:35Speaker 1: The pious of the Lord shall live by it forever.
- 30:38Speaker 1: The paradise of the Lord. The trees of life are
- 30:42Speaker 1: his pious ones. Their planting is rooted forever. They shall
- 30:46Speaker 1: not be plucked up all the days of heaven. For
- 30:49Speaker 1: the portion and the inheritance of God is Israel. But
- 30:53Speaker 1: not so are the sinners and transgressors, who love the
- 30:57Speaker 1: brief day spent in companionship with theirs sin. Their delight
- 31:02Speaker 1: is in fleeting corruption, and they remember not God. For
- 31:06Speaker 1: the ways of men are known before Him at all times,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and He knoweth the secrets of the heart before they
- 31:13Speaker 1: come to pass. Therefore, their inheritance is she old and
- 31:17Speaker 1: darkness and destruction, and they shall not be found in
- 31:20Speaker 1: the day when the righteous obtain mercy. But the pious
- 31:24Speaker 1: of the Lord shall inherit life in gladness. End of
- 31:29Speaker 1: Chapter fourteen. Chapter fifteen. When I was in distress, I
- 31:35Speaker 1: called upon the name of the Lord. I hoped for
- 31:38Speaker 1: the help of the God of Jacob, and was saved
- 31:41Speaker 1: for the hope and refuge of the poor. Art thou
- 31:44Speaker 1: o God, for who O God is strong except to
- 31:48Speaker 1: give thanks unto thee in truth. And wherein is a
- 31:51Speaker 1: man powerful except in giving thanks to Thy name, a
- 31:55Speaker 1: new psalm with song and gladness of heart, the fruit
- 32:00Speaker 1: of the lips, with the well tuned instrument of the tongue,
- 32:03Speaker 1: the first fruits of the lips, from a pious and
- 32:07Speaker 1: righteous heart. He that offereth these things shall never be
- 32:11Speaker 1: shaken by evil. The flame of fire, and the wrath
- 32:15Speaker 1: against the unrighteous shall not touch him, when it goeth
- 32:18Speaker 1: forth from the face of the Lord against sinners to
- 32:21Speaker 1: destroy all the substance of sinners. For the mark of
- 32:25Speaker 1: God is upon the righteous, that they may be saved.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Famine and sword and pestilence shall be far from the righteous,
- 32:33Speaker 1: for they shall flee away from the pious, as men
- 32:36Speaker 1: pursued in war. But they shall pursue sinners and overtake them.
- 32:40Speaker 1: And they that due lawlessness shall not escape the judgment
- 32:44Speaker 1: of God, as by enemies experienced in war. Shall they
- 32:48Speaker 1: be overtaken. For the mark of destruction is upon their forehead.
- 32:52Speaker 1: And the inheritance of sinners is destruction and darkness, and
- 32:56Speaker 1: their iniquities shall pursue them unto she o beneath their
- 33:00Speaker 1: inheritance shall not be found of their children. For sins
- 33:04Speaker 1: shall lay waste the houses of sinners, and sinners shall
- 33:08Speaker 1: perish forever in the day of the Lord's judgment, when
- 33:12Speaker 1: God visiteth the earth with his judgment. But they that
- 33:15Speaker 1: feared the Lord shall find mercy therein and shall live
- 33:19Speaker 1: by the compassion of their God. But sinners shall perish forever.
- 33:26Speaker 1: End of Chapter fifteen. Chapter sixteen. When my soul slumbered,
- 33:32Speaker 1: being afar from the Lord, I had all but slipp'd
- 33:36Speaker 1: down to the pit. When I was far from God.
- 33:39Speaker 1: My soul had been well nigh poured out unto death.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I had been nigh unto the gates of Sheol with
- 33:46Speaker 1: the sinner. When my soul departed from the Lord God
- 33:49Speaker 1: of Israel, had not the Lord helped me with his
- 33:51Speaker 1: everlasting mercy. He prick'd me as a horse is prick'd
- 33:56Speaker 1: that I might serve him, my savior and helper at
- 33:59Speaker 1: all times saved me. I will give thanks unto thee,
- 34:03Speaker 1: O God, for thou hast helped me to my salvation,
- 34:07Speaker 1: and hast not counted me with sinners to my destruction.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Remove not thy mercy from me, O God, nor thy
- 34:14Speaker 1: memorial from my heart until I die. Rule me, O God,
- 34:20Speaker 1: keeping me back from wicked sin and from every wicked
- 34:23Speaker 1: woman that causeth the simple to stumble. And let not
- 34:27Speaker 1: the beauty of a lawless woman beguile me, nor any
- 34:30Speaker 1: one that is subject to unprofitable sin. Establish the works
- 34:34Speaker 1: of my hands before THEE, and preserve my goings in
- 34:38Speaker 1: the remembrance of THEE. Protect my tongue and my lips
- 34:42Speaker 1: with words of truth. Anger and unreasoning wrath put far
- 34:46Speaker 1: from me, murmuring and impatience in affliction, remove far from me.
- 34:51Speaker 1: When if I sin, thou chastenest me, that I may
- 34:55Speaker 1: return unto THEE. But with good will and cheerfulness support
- 35:00Speaker 1: my soul. When thou strengthenest my soul, what is given
- 35:04Speaker 1: to me will be sufficient for me. For if thou
- 35:07Speaker 1: givest not strength, who can endure chastisement with poverty? When
- 35:11Speaker 1: a man is rebuked by means of his corruption, thy
- 35:15Speaker 1: testing of him is in his flesh and in the
- 35:17Speaker 1: affliction of poverty. If the righteous endureth in all these trials,
- 35:23Speaker 1: he shall receive mercy from the Lord. End of Chapter sixteen,
- 35:29Speaker 1: Chapter seventeen, O Lord, thou art our King forever and ever.
- 35:35Speaker 1: For in thee, O God, doth our soul glory. How
- 35:38Speaker 1: long are the days of man's life upon the earth,
- 35:42Speaker 1: as are his days, so is the hope said upon him.
- 35:46Speaker 1: But we hope in God, our deliverer, For the might
- 35:49Speaker 1: of our God is forever with mercy, and the kingdom
- 35:52Speaker 1: of our God is forever over the nations and judgment. Thou,
- 35:56Speaker 1: o Lord, didst choose David to be king over Israel,
- 36:00Speaker 1: and swearest to him, touching his seed, that never should
- 36:03Speaker 1: his kingdom fail before thee. But for our sins, sinners
- 36:08Speaker 1: rose up against us. They assailed us and thrust us out.
- 36:12Speaker 1: What thou hadst not promised to them, they took away
- 36:16Speaker 1: from us with violence. They and no wise glorified Thy
- 36:20Speaker 1: honorable name. They set a worldly monarchy in place of
- 36:24Speaker 1: that which was their excellency. They laid waste the throne
- 36:28Speaker 1: of David in tumultuous arrogance. But Thou, o God, didst
- 36:33Speaker 1: cast them down and remove their seed from the earth.
- 36:36Speaker 1: And that there rose up against them a man that
- 36:39Speaker 1: was alien to our race. According to their sins. Didst
- 36:42Speaker 1: thou recompense them, o God, so that it befell them
- 36:46Speaker 1: according to their deeds. God showed them no pity. He
- 36:50Speaker 1: sought out their seed, and let not one of them
- 36:53Speaker 1: go free. Faithful is the Lord in all his judgments,
- 36:57Speaker 1: which he doeth upon the earth. The lawless one laid
- 37:01Speaker 1: waste our land, so that none inhabited it. They destroyed,
- 37:05Speaker 1: young and old, and their children together. And the heat
- 37:08Speaker 1: of his anger he sent them away even unto the west,
- 37:11Speaker 1: and he exposed the rulers of the land unsparingly to derision.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Being an alien, the enemy acted proudly, and his heart
- 37:19Speaker 1: was alien from our God, and all things whatsoever he
- 37:23Speaker 1: did in Jerusalem, as also the nations in the cities
- 37:26Speaker 1: to their gods, and the children of the Covenant, in
- 37:30Speaker 1: the midst of the mingled peoples surpassed them in evil.
- 37:34Speaker 1: There was not among them one that wrought in the
- 37:36Speaker 1: midst of Jerusalem mercy and truth. They that loved the
- 37:40Speaker 1: synagogues of the pious fled from them as sparrows that
- 37:44Speaker 1: fly from their nest. They wandered in deserts that their
- 37:48Speaker 1: lives might be saved from harm. And precious in the
- 37:51Speaker 1: eyes of them that lived abroad, was any that escaped
- 37:54Speaker 1: alive from them over the whole earth were they scattered
- 37:58Speaker 1: by lawless men. For the heavens withheld the rain from
- 38:01Speaker 1: dropping upon the earth. Springs were stopped that spring perennially
- 38:06Speaker 1: out of the deeps that ran down from lofty mountains.
- 38:10Speaker 1: For there was none among them that wrought righteousness and justice.
- 38:14Speaker 1: From the chief of them to the least of them.
- 38:17Speaker 1: All were sinful. The king was a transgressor, and the
- 38:21Speaker 1: judge disobedient, and the people sinful. Behold, o Lord, and
- 38:25Speaker 1: raise up unto them their king, the son of David,
- 38:28Speaker 1: at the time in the which thou seest o God,
- 38:31Speaker 1: that he may reign over Israel, thy servant, and gird
- 38:34Speaker 1: him with strength, that he may shatter unrighteous rulers, and
- 38:39Speaker 1: that he may purge Jerusalem from nations that trample her
- 38:43Speaker 1: down to destruction. Wisely, righteously, he shall thrust out sinners
- 38:49Speaker 1: from the inheritance. He shall destroy the pride of the
- 38:53Speaker 1: sinner as a potter's vessel. With the rod of iron,
- 38:56Speaker 1: he shall break in pieces all their substance. He shall
- 38:59Speaker 1: the destroy the godless nations with the word of his mouth.
- 39:03Speaker 1: At his rebuke, nations shall flee before him, and he
- 39:07Speaker 1: shall reprove sinners for the thoughts of their heart. And
- 39:11Speaker 1: he shall gather together a holy people whom he shall
- 39:14Speaker 1: lead in righteousness. And he shall judge the tribes of
- 39:17Speaker 1: the people that has been sanctified by the Lord his God.
- 39:21Speaker 1: And he shall not suffer unrighteousness to lodge any more
- 39:25Speaker 1: in their midst, nor shall there dwell with them any
- 39:29Speaker 1: man that knoweth wickedness. For he shall know them that
- 39:33Speaker 1: they are all sons of their God. And he shall
- 39:37Speaker 1: divide them according to their tribes upon the land, and
- 39:40Speaker 1: neither sojourner nor alien shall sojourn with them any more.
- 39:45Speaker 1: He shall judge peoples and nations in the wisdom of
- 39:48Speaker 1: His righteousness Sallah, and he shall have the heathen nations
- 39:53Speaker 1: to serve him under his yoke. And he shall glorify
- 39:56Speaker 1: the Lord in a place to be seen of all
- 39:58Speaker 1: the earth. And he shall purge Jerusalem, making it wholly
- 40:03Speaker 1: as of old, so that nations shall come from the
- 40:05Speaker 1: ends of the earth to see His glory, bringing as
- 40:08Speaker 1: gifts her sons who had fainted, and to see the
- 40:12Speaker 1: glory of the Lord, wherewith God hath glorified her. And
- 40:15Speaker 1: he shall be a righteous king taught of God over them,
- 40:20Speaker 1: and there shall be no unrighteousness in his days in
- 40:23Speaker 1: their midst for all shall be holy and their king
- 40:27Speaker 1: the anointed of the Lord. For he shall not put
- 40:30Speaker 1: his trust in horse and rider in bow, nor shall
- 40:33Speaker 1: he multiply for himself gold and silver for war, nor
- 40:37Speaker 1: shall he gather confidence from a multitude for the day
- 40:40Speaker 1: of battle. The Lord himself is his king, the hope
- 40:44Speaker 1: of Him that is mighty. Through his hope in God,
- 40:47Speaker 1: all nations shall be in fear before him, For he
- 40:51Speaker 1: will smite the earth with the word of his mouth.
- 40:53Speaker 1: For ever he will bless the people of the Lord
- 40:56Speaker 1: with wisdom and gladness, and he himself will be pure
- 40:59Speaker 1: from sin, so that he may rule a great people.
- 41:03Speaker 1: He will rebuke rulers and remove sinners by the might
- 41:06Speaker 1: of his word, and relying upon his God. Throughout his days.
- 41:10Speaker 1: He will not stumble, for God will make him mighty
- 41:13Speaker 1: by means of his Holy Spirit, and wise by means
- 41:17Speaker 1: of the Spirit of understanding, with strength and righteousness, and
- 41:21Speaker 1: the blessing of the Lord will be with him. He
- 41:23Speaker 1: will be strong and stumble not. His hope will be
- 41:27Speaker 1: in the Lord, who then can prevail against him. He
- 41:30Speaker 1: will be mighty in his works and strong in the
- 41:34Speaker 1: fear of God. He will be shepherding the flock of
- 41:37Speaker 1: the Lord faithfully and righteously, and will suffer none among
- 41:41Speaker 1: them to stumble in their pasture. He will lead them
- 41:44Speaker 1: all aright, and there will be no pride among them
- 41:48Speaker 1: that any among them should be oppressed. This will be
- 41:51Speaker 1: the majesty of the King of Israel, whom God knoweth.
- 41:55Speaker 1: He will raise him up over the house of Israel
- 41:57Speaker 1: to correct him. His words shall be more refined than
- 42:01Speaker 1: costly gold, the choicest in the assemblies. He will judge
- 42:05Speaker 1: the peoples, the tribes of thee sanctified. His words shall
- 42:10Speaker 1: be like the words of the Holy ones in the
- 42:12Speaker 1: midst of sanctified peoples. Blessed be they that shall be
- 42:17Speaker 1: in those days, and that they shall see the good
- 42:20Speaker 1: fortune of Israel, which God shall bring to pass, and
- 42:23Speaker 1: the gathering together of the tribes. May the Lord hasten
- 42:27Speaker 1: his mercy upon Israel. May he deliver us from the
- 42:31Speaker 1: uncleanness of unholy enemies. The Lord himself is our king,
- 42:35Speaker 1: forever and ever. End of Chapter seventeen. Chapter eighteen, Lord,
- 42:44Speaker 1: thy mercy is over the works of thy hands forever
- 42:49Speaker 1: Thy goodness is over Israel with the rich gift. Thine
- 42:53Speaker 1: eyes look upon them, so that none of them suffers want.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Thine ears listen to the hopeful prayer of the poor.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Thy judgments are executed upon the whole earth and mercy,
- 43:04Speaker 1: and thy love is toward the seed of Abraham, the
- 43:07Speaker 1: children of Israel. Thy chastisement is upon us, as upon
- 43:11Speaker 1: a first born, only begotten son, to turn back the
- 43:15Speaker 1: obedient soul from folly that is wrought in ignorance. May
- 43:20Speaker 1: God cleanse Israel against the day of mercy and blessing
- 43:24Speaker 1: against the day of choice. When blessed shall they be
- 43:27Speaker 1: that shall be in those days He bringeth back his anointed,
- 43:31Speaker 1: and that they shall see the goodness of the Lord,
- 43:34Speaker 1: which he shall perform for the generation that is to
- 43:37Speaker 1: come under the wrod of chastening of the Lord's anointed,
- 43:41Speaker 1: in the fear of his God, in the spirit of
- 43:44Speaker 1: wisdom and righteousness and strength, that he may direct every
- 43:47Speaker 1: man in the works of righteousness by the fear of God,
- 43:52Speaker 1: that he may establish them all before the Lord, a
- 43:55Speaker 1: good generation living in the fear of God and the
- 43:58Speaker 1: days of mercy. So Lah great is our God, and
- 44:02Speaker 1: glorious dwelling in the highest It is He who hath
- 44:06Speaker 1: established in their courses the lights of Heaven for determining
- 44:10Speaker 1: seasons from year to year. And they have not turned
- 44:14Speaker 1: aside from the way which He appointed them. In the
- 44:17Speaker 1: fear of God, they pursue their path every day from
- 44:21Speaker 1: the day God created them and forevermore. And they have
- 44:24Speaker 1: erred not since the day He created them, since the
- 44:27Speaker 1: generations of old, they have not withdrawn from their path
- 44:31Speaker 1: unless God commanded them so to do by the command
- 44:36Speaker 1: of his servants. End of chapter eighteen and also the
- 44:40Speaker 1: end of the Psalms of Solomon by Anonymous. Chapters zero
- 44:50Speaker 1: through fourteen of the Odes of Solomon by Anonymous. This

- 45:06Speaker 1: Sam Stinson, Chapter zero, the introduction the Odes of Solomon.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Here are some of the most beautiful songs of peace
- 45:16Speaker 1: and joy that the world possesses. Yet their origin, the
- 45:21Speaker 1: date of their writing, and the exact meaning of many
- 45:24Speaker 1: of the verses remain one of the great literary mysteries.
- 45:28Speaker 1: They have come down to us in a single and
- 45:30Speaker 1: very ancient document in Syriac language. Evidently that document is
- 45:35Speaker 1: a translation from the original Greek. Critical debate has raged
- 45:39Speaker 1: around these odes. One of the most plausible explanations is
- 45:43Speaker 1: that they are songs of newly baptized Christians of the
- 45:47Speaker 1: first century. They are strangely lacking in historical illusions. Their
- 45:52Speaker 1: radiance is no reflection of other days. They do not
- 45:56Speaker 1: borrow from either the Old Testament or the Gospels. Inspiration
- 46:00Speaker 1: of these verses is first hand. They remind you of
- 46:03Speaker 1: Aristides remark a new people with whom something divine is mingled.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Here is vigor, an insight to which we can find
- 46:12Speaker 1: parallels only in the most exalted parts of the Scriptures.
- 46:16Speaker 1: For these dazzling mystery odes, we owe our translation to J.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Rendell Harris m, a honored fellow of Claire College, Cambridge.
- 46:27Speaker 1: He says about them, there does not seem to be
- 46:30Speaker 1: anything about which everyone seem agreed, unless it be that
- 46:33Speaker 1: the odes are of singular beauty and high spiritual value.
- 46:38Speaker 1: End of chapter zero, Chapter one. The Lord is on
- 46:44Speaker 1: my head like a crown, and I shall not be
- 46:48Speaker 1: without him. They wove for me a crown of truth,
- 46:52Speaker 1: and it caused thy branches to bud in me. For
- 46:56Speaker 1: it is not like a withered crown, which budeth not.
- 46:59Speaker 1: But thou livest upon my head, and thou hast blossomed
- 47:03Speaker 1: upon my head. Thy fruits are full grown and perfect.
- 47:09Speaker 1: They are full of thy salvation. And of chapter one,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Chapter three I put on and his members are with him,
- 47:21Speaker 1: And on them do I stand. And he loves me.
- 47:25Speaker 1: For I should not have known how to love the
- 47:27Speaker 1: Lord if he had not loved me. For who is
- 47:31Speaker 1: able to distinguish love except the one that is loved.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I love the beloved, and my soul loves him. And
- 47:39Speaker 1: where his rest is, there also am I. And I
- 47:43Speaker 1: shall be no stranger. For with the Lord most High
- 47:47Speaker 1: and merciful, there is no grudging. I have been united
- 47:51Speaker 1: to I run, for the lover has found the beloved.
- 47:57Speaker 1: And because I shall love him that is the Sun,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I shall become a son. For he that is joined
- 48:04Speaker 1: to him that is a mortal, will also himself become
- 48:07Speaker 1: a mortal. And he who has pleasure in the living
- 48:10Speaker 1: one will become living. This is the spirit of the Lord,
- 48:15Speaker 1: which doth not lie, which teacheth the sons of men
- 48:18Speaker 1: to know His ways, be wise and understanding, and vigilant. Hallelujah.
- 48:26Speaker 1: End of Chapter three, Chapter four. No man, o, my
- 48:31Speaker 1: God changeth thy holy place, and it is not possible
- 48:36Speaker 1: that he should change it and put it in another place,
- 48:39Speaker 1: because he hath no power over it. For thy sanctuary
- 48:43Speaker 1: thou hast designed before thou didst make other places. That
- 48:48Speaker 1: which is the older shall not be altered by those
- 48:51Speaker 1: that are younger than itself. Thou hast given thy heart,
- 48:56Speaker 1: o Lord, to thy believers. Never wilt thou faith, nor
- 49:00Speaker 1: be without fruits. For one hour of thy faith is
- 49:04Speaker 1: more precious than all days and years. For who is
- 49:08Speaker 1: there that shall put on thy grace and be hurt?
- 49:12Speaker 1: For thy seal is known, and thy creatures know it,
- 49:15Speaker 1: and thy heavenly hosts possess it, and the elect archangels
- 49:19Speaker 1: are clad with it. Thou hast given us thy fellowship.
- 49:24Speaker 1: It was not that thou wast in need of us,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but that we are in need of THEE. Distill thy
- 49:31Speaker 1: dews upon us, and open thy rich fountains that pour
- 49:34Speaker 1: forth to us milk and honey. For there is no
- 49:38Speaker 1: repentance with THEE that thou shouldst repent of anything that
- 49:42Speaker 1: thou hast promised, And the end was revealed before THEE.
- 49:46Speaker 1: For what thou gavest, thou gavest freely, so that thou
- 49:51Speaker 1: mayest not draw them back and take them again. For
- 49:55Speaker 1: all was revealed before THEE as God and ordered from
- 49:59Speaker 1: the beginning for THEE, and Thou, O God, hast made
- 50:03Speaker 1: all things Hallelujah. End of Chapter four, Chapter five. I
- 50:10Speaker 1: will give thanks unto THEE, O Lord, because I love
- 50:13Speaker 1: thee O most high. Thou wilt not forsake me, for
- 50:18Speaker 1: thou art my hope freely. I have received thy grace.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I shall live Thereby My persecutors will come and not
- 50:27Speaker 1: see me. A cloud of darkness shall fall on their eyes,
- 50:31Speaker 1: and an air of thick gloom shall darken them, and
- 50:35Speaker 1: they shall have no light to see. They may not
- 50:38Speaker 1: take whole upon me. Let their counsel become thick darkness.
- 50:42Speaker 1: And what I have cunningly devised, let it return upon
- 50:46Speaker 1: their own heads. For they have devised a council, and
- 50:50Speaker 1: it did not succeed. For my hope is upon the Lord,
- 50:53Speaker 1: and I will not fear. And because the Lord is
- 50:56Speaker 1: my salvation, I will not fear. And he is as
- 51:00Speaker 1: a garland on my head, and I shall not be moved.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Even if everything should be shaken, I stand firm, And
- 51:08Speaker 1: if all things visible should perish, I shall not die,
- 51:12Speaker 1: because the Lord is with me, and I am with him. Hallelujah.
- 51:18Speaker 1: End of chapter five, Chapter six. As the hand moves
- 51:24Speaker 1: over the harp and the strings speak, so speaks in
- 51:29Speaker 1: my members the spirit of the Lord, and I speak
- 51:32Speaker 1: by his love. For it destroys what is foreign and
- 51:35Speaker 1: everything that is bitter. For thus it was from the
- 51:39Speaker 1: beginning and will be to the end, that nothing should
- 51:43Speaker 1: be his adversary, and nothing should stand up against him.
- 51:48Speaker 1: The Lord has multiplied the knowledge of himself, and is
- 51:51Speaker 1: zealous that these things should be known, which by his
- 51:55Speaker 1: grace have been given to us. And the praise of
- 51:58Speaker 1: his name. He gave us our spirits praise his Holy Spirit.
- 52:04Speaker 1: For there went forth a stream and became a river,
- 52:07Speaker 1: great and broad. For it flooded and broke up everything,
- 52:11Speaker 1: and it brought water to the temple. And the restrainers
- 52:15Speaker 1: of the children of men were not able to restrain it,
- 52:18Speaker 1: nor the arts of those whose business it is to
- 52:20Speaker 1: restrain waters, for it spread over the face of the
- 52:24Speaker 1: whole earth and filled everything, and all the thirsty upon
- 52:28Speaker 1: earth were given to drink of it, and thirst was
- 52:32Speaker 1: relieved and quenched. For from the most high the draft
- 52:36Speaker 1: was given. Blessed then are the ministers of that draft,
- 52:41Speaker 1: who are entrusted with that water of his. They have
- 52:45Speaker 1: assuaged the dry lips and the will that had fainted.
- 52:50Speaker 1: They have raised up, and souls that were near departing.
- 52:54Speaker 1: They have caught back from death, and limbs that had
- 52:57Speaker 1: fallen they straightened and set up. They gave strength for
- 53:02Speaker 1: their feebleness, and light to their eyes, for every one
- 53:06Speaker 1: knew them in the Lord, and they lived by the
- 53:09Speaker 1: water of life forever. Hallelujah. And of chapter six Chapter seven.
- 53:18Speaker 1: As the impulse of anger against evil, so is the
- 53:21Speaker 1: impulse of joy over what is lovely and brings in
- 53:26Speaker 1: of its fruits without restraint. My joy is the Lord,
- 53:30Speaker 1: and my impulse is toward him. This path of mine
- 53:34Speaker 1: is excellent, for I have a helper, the Lord. He
- 53:38Speaker 1: hath caused me to know himself without grudging. By his simplicity,
- 53:44Speaker 1: his kindness has humbled his greatness. He became like me
- 53:49Speaker 1: an order that I might receive him. He was reckoned
- 53:53Speaker 1: like myself in order that I might put him on.
- 53:56Speaker 1: And I trembled not when I saw him, because he
- 54:00Speaker 1: gracious to me, like my nature, he became, that I
- 54:04Speaker 1: might learn him, and like my form, that I might
- 54:08Speaker 1: not turn back from him. The father of knowledge is
- 54:12Speaker 1: the word of knowledge. He who created wisdom is wiser
- 54:16Speaker 1: than his works. And he who created me, when yet
- 54:20Speaker 1: I was not knew what I should do when I
- 54:23Speaker 1: came into being. Wherefore he pitied me in his abundant
- 54:27Speaker 1: grace and granted me to ask from him and to
- 54:30Speaker 1: receive from his sacrifice. Because he it is that is incorrupt,
- 54:36Speaker 1: the fullness of the ages, and the father of them.
- 54:39Speaker 1: He hath given him to be seen of them that
- 54:42Speaker 1: are his, in order that they may recognize him that
- 54:45Speaker 1: made them, and that they might not suppose that they
- 54:48Speaker 1: came of themselves. For knowledge he hath appointed as its way.
- 54:54Speaker 1: He hath widened it and extended it, and brought to
- 54:57Speaker 1: all perfection, and set over it the trances of his light.
- 55:02Speaker 1: And I walked therein from the beginning even to the end,
- 55:06Speaker 1: for by him it was wrought, and he was resting
- 55:10Speaker 1: in the sun. And for its salvation. He will take
- 55:13Speaker 1: hold of everything and the Most High shall be known
- 55:17Speaker 1: in his saints to announce to those that have songs
- 55:21Speaker 1: of the coming of the Lord, that they may go
- 55:24Speaker 1: forth to meet him, and may sing to him with
- 55:26Speaker 1: joy and with the harp of many tones. The seers
- 55:31Speaker 1: shall come before him, and they shall be seen before him,
- 55:35Speaker 1: and they shall praise the Lord for his love, because
- 55:38Speaker 1: he is near and beholdeth. And hatred shall be taken
- 55:43Speaker 1: from the earth, and along with jealousy it shall be drown'd,
- 55:47Speaker 1: for ignorance hath been destroy'd, because the knowledge of the
- 55:51Speaker 1: Lord hath arrived. They who make songs shall sing the
- 55:56Speaker 1: grace of the Lord most High, and they shall bring
- 55:59Speaker 1: their song, and their heart shall be like the day,
- 56:02Speaker 1: and like the excellent beauty of the Lord their pleasant song.
- 56:07Speaker 1: And there shall neither be anything that breathes without knowledge,
- 56:11Speaker 1: nor any that is dumb. For He hath given a
- 56:15Speaker 1: mouth to his creation to open the voice of the
- 56:18Speaker 1: mouth towards him, to praise him. Confess ye his power,
- 56:24Speaker 1: and show forth his grace. Hallelujah. End of chapter seven,
- 56:31Speaker 1: Chapter eight, Open ye, open ye your hearts to the
- 56:36Speaker 1: exultation of the Lord, and let your love be multiplied
- 56:41Speaker 1: from the heart and even to the lips to bring
- 56:44Speaker 1: forth fruit to the Lord, fruit holy fruit, and to
- 56:48Speaker 1: talk with watchfulness in his light. Rise up and stand erect,
- 56:54Speaker 1: Ye who some time were brought low. Tell forth, ye
- 56:58Speaker 1: who were in silence, that your mouth hath been opened.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Ye therefore that were despised, be henceforth lifted up, because
- 57:07Speaker 1: your righteousness hath been exalted. For the right hand of
- 57:11Speaker 1: the Lord is with you, and he is your helper,
- 57:14Speaker 1: And peace was prepared for you before ever your war
- 57:19Speaker 1: was here the word of truth, and receive the knowledge
- 57:23Speaker 1: of the most High. Your flesh has not known what
- 57:27Speaker 1: I am saying to you, neither have your hearts known
- 57:30Speaker 1: what I am showing to you. Keep my secret, ye
- 57:34Speaker 1: who are kept by it. Keep my faith, ye who
- 57:39Speaker 1: are kept by it, and understand my knowledge. Ye who
- 57:43Speaker 1: know me in truth, Love me with affection, ye who
- 57:47Speaker 1: love for I do not turn away my face from
- 57:51Speaker 1: them that are mine. For I know them, And before
- 57:54Speaker 1: they came into being, I took knowledge of them, and
- 57:57Speaker 1: on their faces I set my seal. I fashion'd their
- 58:01Speaker 1: members my own breasts. I prepar'd for them that they
- 58:06Speaker 1: might drink my holy milk and live. Thereby I took
- 58:10Speaker 1: pleasure in them, and am not ashamed of them. For
- 58:14Speaker 1: my workmanship are they and the strength of my thoughts.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Who then shall rise up against my handiwork? Or who
- 58:21Speaker 1: is there that is not subject to them? I will'd
- 58:25Speaker 1: and fashion'd mind and heart, And they are mine. And
- 58:30Speaker 1: by my own right hand I set my elect ones,
- 58:34Speaker 1: and my righteousness goeth before them, And they shall not
- 58:37Speaker 1: be depriv'd of my name, for it is with them.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Ask and abound, and abide in the love of the Lord.
- 58:46Speaker 1: And yet, beloved ones in the Beloved, those who are
- 58:50Speaker 1: kept in Him that liveth, and they that are sav'd
- 58:54Speaker 1: in Him that was sav'd, And ye shall be found
- 58:57Speaker 1: incorrupt in all ages to the name of your Father. Howellelujah,
- 59:03Speaker 1: and of chapter eight, chapter nine. Open your ears, and
- 59:09Speaker 1: I will speak to you. Give me your souls, that
- 59:13Speaker 1: I may also give you my soul, the word of
- 59:16Speaker 1: the Lord and his good pleasures, the holy thought which
- 59:20Speaker 1: he has devised concerning his Messiah. For in the will
- 59:25Speaker 1: of the Lord is your salvation, and his thought is
- 59:29Speaker 1: everlasting life, and your end is immortality. Be enriched in
- 59:36Speaker 1: God the Father, and receive the thought of the Most High.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Be strong, and be redeemed by his grace. For I
- 59:44Speaker 1: announce to you peace, to you his saints, that none
- 59:49Speaker 1: of those who here may fall in war, and that
- 59:53Speaker 1: those again who have known Him may not perish, and
- 59:57Speaker 1: that those who receive may not be ashamed. An everlasting crown,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: for ever is truth. Blessed are they who set it
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: on their heads. A stone of great price is it,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: And there have been wars on account of the crown
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: and righteousness. Hath taken it, and hath given it to you.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Put on the crown in the true covenant of the Lord.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: And all those who have conquered shall be written in
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: his book, for their book is victory, which is yours.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: And she victory sees you before her in wills that
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: you shall be saved. Hallelujah. And of chapter nine, Chapter ten.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: The Lord hath directed my mouth by his word, and
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: he hath opened my heart by his light. And he
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: hath cause to dwell in me his deathless life, and
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: gave me that I might speak the fruit of his
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: peace to convert the souls of them who are willing
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: to come to him, and to lead captive a good
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: captivity for freedom. I was strengthened and made Mighty and
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: took the world captive, and it became to me for
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: the praise of the Most High and of God my Father.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: And the gentiles were gathered together who were scattered abroad,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: and I was unpolluted by my love for them, because
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: they confessed me in high places, and the traces of
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the light were set upon their heart, and they walked
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: in my life and were saved, and became my people
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: forever and ever, hallelujah. End of chapter ten, Chapter eleven.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: My heart was cloven, and its flower appeared, and grace
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: sprang up in it, and it brought forth fruit to
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: the Lord. For the most High clave my heart by
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: his holy spirit, and searched my affection towards him and
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: filled me with his love. And his opening of me
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: became my salvation. And I ran in his way and
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: his peace, even in the way of truth. From the
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: beginning and even to the end, I acquired his knowledge,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: and I was established upon the rock of truth where
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: he had set me up. And speaking waters touched my
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: lips from the fountain of the Lord plenteously, and I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: drank and was inebriated with the living water that doth
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: not die. And my inebriation was not one without knowledge.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But I forsook vanity and turned to the most High,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: my God, and I was enriched by his bounty. And
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I forsook the folly which is diffused over the earth,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: and I stripped it off and cast it from me.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: And the Lord renewed me and his raiment, and possessed
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: me by his light. And from above he gave me
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: rest and incorruption. And I became like the land which
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: blossoms and rejoices in its fruits. And the Lord was
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: like the sun shining on the face of the land.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: He lightened my eyes, and my face received the dew,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: and my nostrils enjoyed the pleasant odor of the Lord.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: And he carried me to his paradise, where is the
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: abundance of the pleasure of the Lord. And I worshiped
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the Lord on account of his glory, and I said, blessed,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: O Lord, are they who are planted in thy land,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: and those who have a place in thy paradise, And
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: they grow by the fruits of the trees, and they
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: have changed from darkness to light. Behold, all thy servants
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: are fair, who do good works and turn away from
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: wickedness to the pleasantness that is Thine. And they have
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: turn'd back the bitterness of the trees from them when
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: they were planted in thy land, and everything came like
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: a relic of thyself, and memorial forever of thy faithful works.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: For there is abundant room in thy paradise, and nothing
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: is useless therein, but everything is filled with fruit. Glory
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: be to thee O God, the delight of paradise forever, Howelujah.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: End of chapter eleven, Chapter twelve. He hath filled me
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: with words of truth, that I may speak the same.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: And like the flow of waters, flows truth from my mouth,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: and my lips show forth his fruit. And he has
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: caused his knowledge to abound in me. Because the mouth
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: of the Lord is the true word and the door
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: of his light. And the most High hath given it
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: to his words, which are the interpreters of his own beauty,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: and the repeaters of his praise, and the confessors of
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: his council, and the heralds of his thought, and the
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: chasteners of his servants. For the swiftness of the word
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: is inexpressible, and like its expression is its swiftness and force,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: and its course knows no limit, never doth it fail,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: But it stands sure, and it knows not descent nor
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: the way of it. For as its work is, so
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: is its end. For it is light and the dawning
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: of thought. And by it the world's talk one to another.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: And in the Word there were those that were silent,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: and from it came love and conquer'd, and they spake
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: one to the other whatever was theirs. And they were
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: penetrated by the Word, and they knew him who made them,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: because they were inconquered. For the mouth of the most
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: High spake to them, and his explanation ran by means
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: of it. For the dwelling place of the Word is man,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: and its truth is love. Blessed are they who, by
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: means thereof have understood everything and have known the Lord
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: in his truth. Hallelujah. And of chapter twelve. Chapter thirteen, Behold,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: the Lord is our mirror. Open the eyes and see
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: them in him. And learn the manner of your face,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: and tell forth praise to his Spirit, and wipe off
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: the filth from your face, and love his holiness, and
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: clothe yourselves therewith, and be without stain at all times
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: before him. Hallelujah. End of chapter thirteen, chapter fourteen. As
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: the eyes of a son to his father, so are
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: my eyes, O Lord, at all times towards THEE. For
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: with THEE are my consolations and my delight. Turn not
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: away thy mercies from me, O Lord, and take not
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: thy coindineness from me. Stretch out to me, O Lord,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: at all times, thy right hand, and be my guide
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: even unto the end, according to thy good pleasure. Let
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: me be well pleasing before THEE because of thy glory,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: and because of thy name. Let me be preserv'd from evil.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: And let thy meekness, O Lord, abide with me and
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: the fruits of thy love. Teach me the psalms of
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: thy truth, that I may bring forth fruit in THEE.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: And open to me the harp of thy holy Spirit,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: that with all its notes I may praise THEE, O Lord.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies, so
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: thou shalt give to me, and hasten to grant our petitions,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: And thou art able for all our needs. Hallelujah. End

- 1:08:22Speaker 1: As the sun is the joy to them that seek
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: for its daybreak, so is my joy the Lord, because
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: he is my son, and his rays have lifted me up,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: and his light hath dispelled all darkness from my face.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: In him, I have acquired eyes and have seen his
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: holy day. Ears have become mine, and I have heard
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: his truth. The thought of knowledge hath been mine, and
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I have been delighted through him. The way of error
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: I have left and have walked towards him, and have
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: received salvation from him without grudging. And according to his
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: bounty he hath given to me, and according to his
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: excellent beauty he hath made me. I have put on
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: in corruption through his name, and have put off corruption
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: by his grace. Death hath been destroy'd before my face,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: and she all hath been abolish'd by my word. And
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: there hath gone up deathless life in the Lord's land.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: And it hath been made known to his faithful ones,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: and hath been given without stint to all those that
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: trust in him, hallelujah. And of chapter fifteen Chapter sixteen.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: As the work of the husbandman is the plowshare, and
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: the work of the steersman is the guidance of the ship,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: so also my work is the psalm of the Lord.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: My craft and my occupation are in his praises, because
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: his love hath nourish'd my heart, and even to my
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: lips his fruits he poured out. For my love is
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: the Lord. And therefore I will sing unto Him, for
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: I am made strong in his praise, and I have
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: faith in him. I will open my mouth, and his
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: spirit will utter in me the glory of the Lord
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: and his beauty, the work of his hands and the
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: operation of his fingers, the multitude of his mercies, and
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: the strength of his word. For the word of the
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Lord searches out all things, both the invisible and that
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: which reveals his thought. For the eye sees his works,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: and the ear hears his thought. He spread out the earth,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: and he settled the waters in the sea. He measured
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: the heavens and fixed the stars, and he established the
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: creation and set it up. And he wrested from his
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: works and created things run in their courses and do
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: their works, and they know not how to stand and
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: be idle. And his heavenly hosts are subject to his word.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: The treasure chamber of the light is the sun, and
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: the treasury of the darkness is the night. And he
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: made the sun for the day, that it may be bright,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: but night brings darkness over the face of the land.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: And their alternations, one to the other speak the beauty
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: of God. And there is nothing that is without the Lord,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: For he was before any thing came into being, and
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: the worlds were made by his word and by the
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: thought of his heart. Glory and honor to his name. Howllelujah.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: And of chapter sixteen, Chapter seventeen. I was crowned by
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: my God. My crown is living, and I was justified
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: in my Lord. My incorruptible salvation is he. I was
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: loosed from vanity, and I was not condemned. The choking
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: bonds were cut off by her hands. I received the
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: face and the fashion of a new person, and I
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: walked in it and was saved. And the thought of
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: truth led me on, and I walked after it and
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: did not wander. And all that have seen me were amazed,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: and I was regarded by them as a strange person.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: And he who knew and brought me up is the
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: most High in all his perfection. And he glorified me
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: by his kindness and raised my thoughts to the height
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: of his truth. And from thence he gave me the
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: way of his precepts. And I opened the doors that
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: were closed, and break in pieces the bars of iron.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: But my iron melted and dissolved before me. Nothing appeared
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: closed to me, because I was the door of everything.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: And I went over all my bondmen to loose them,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: and I might not leave any man bound or binding.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: And I imparted my knowledge without grudging. And my prayer
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: was in my love. And I sowed my fruits in
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: hearts and transformed them into myself, and they received my
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: blessing and lived. And they were gathered to me and
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: were saved because they were to me as my own members,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: and I was their head. Glory to thee are head,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: the Lord Messiah, hallelujah. End of chapter seventeen. Chapter eighteen.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: My heart was lifted up in the love of the
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Most High and was enlarged that I might praise him
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: for his name's sake. My members were strengthened that they
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: might not fall from his strength. Sickness is removed from
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: my body, and it stood to the Lord by his will.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: For his kingdom is true, O Lord, for the sake
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: of them that are deficient, do not remove thy word
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: from me, Neither for the sake of their works, do
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: thou restrain from me thy perfection. Let not the luminary
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: be conquered by the darkness, nor let truth flee away
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: from falsehood. Thou wilt appoint me to victory. Our salvation
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: is thy right hand, and thou wilt receive men from
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: all quarters, and thou wilt preserve whosoever is held in evils.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Thou art my God. Falsehood and death are not in
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: thy mouth. For thy will is perfection. And vanity thou
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: knowest not, nor does it know thee. An error thou
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: knowest not, neither does it know thee. And ignorance appeared
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: like a blind man, and like the foam of the sea.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: And they supposed of that vain thing that it was
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: something great. And they too came in likeness of it
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: and became vain. And those have understood, who have known
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: and meditated, and they have not been corrupt in their imagination,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: for such were in the mind of the Lord. And
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: they mocked at them that were walking in error. And
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: they spake truth from the inspiration which the Most High
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: breathed into them. Praise and great comeliness to his name, Howelujah.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: End of chapter eighteen, Chapter nineteen. A cup of milk
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: was offered to me, and I drank it in the
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: sweetness of the delight of the Lord. The Son is
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: the cup, and he who was milked is the Father.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: And the Holy Spirit milked him because his breasts were full,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: and it was necessary for him that his milk should
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: be sufficiently released. And the Holy Spirit opened his bosom
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: and mingled the milk from the two breasts of the Father,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: and gave the mixture to the world without their knowing.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: And they who receive in its fullness are the ones
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: on the right hand. The Spirit opened the womb of
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: the Virgin, and she received conception and brought forth. And
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: the Virgin became a mother with many mercy, and she
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: travailed and brought forth a son without incurring pain. And
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: because she was not sufficiently prepared, and she had not
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: sought a midwife, for he brought her to bear, she
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: brought forth as if she were a man of her
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: own will. And she brought him forth openly, and acquired
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: him with great dignity, and loved him in his swaddling clothes,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: and guarded him kindly, and showed him in majesty. How llelujah.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: End of Chapter nineteen, Chapter twenty. I am a priest
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: of the Lord, and to him I do priestly service,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: And to him I offer the sacrifice of his thought.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: For his thought is not like the thought of the world,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: nor the thought of the flesh, nor like them that
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: served carnally. The sacrifice of the Lord is righteousness and
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: purity of heart and lips. Present your reigns before him blamelessly.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: And let not thee thy heart do violence to heart,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: nor thy soul to soul. Thou shalt not acquire a
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: stranger by the price of thy silver, neither shalt thou
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: seek to devour thy neighbor, neither shalt thou deprive him
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: of the covering of his nakedness. But put on the
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: grace of the Lord without stint, and come into his paradise,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: And make thee a garland from its tree, and put
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: it on thy head, and be glad and recline on
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: his rest, and glory shall go before thee, and thou
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: shalt receive of his kindness and of his grace, and
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: thou shalt be flourishing in truth, and the praise of
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: His holiness. Praise and honor be to his name. Hallelujah.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: End of chapter twenty, Chapter twenty one. My arms, I
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: lift it up to the most high, even to the
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: grace of the Lord, because he had cast off my
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: bonds from me, and my helper had lifted me up
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: to his grace and to his salvation. And I put
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: off darkness and clothed myself with light, and my soul
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: acquired a body free from sorrow or affliction or pains.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: And increasingly helpful to me was the thought of the
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Lord and his fellowship and incorruption. And I was lifted
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: up in his light, and I served before him, and
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I became near to him, praising and confessing him. My
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: heart ran over and was found in my mouth, and
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: it arose upon my lips, and the exultation of the
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Lord increased on my face, and his praise likewise, hallelujah.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: And of chapter twenty one, Chapter twenty two. He who
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: brought me down from on high also brought me up
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: from the regions below. And he who gathers together the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: things that are betwixt, is he also who cast me down.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: He who scat my enemies, had existed from ancient in
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: my adversaries. He who gave me authority over bonds, that
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: I might loose them. He that overthrew by my hands
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: the dragon with seven heads, And thou hast set me
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: over his roots, that I might destroy his seed. Thou
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: wast there and didst help me, And in every place
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: thy name was a rampart me. Thy right hand destroyed
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: his wicked poison, and thy hand leveled the way for
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: those who believe in THEE. And thou didst choose them
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: from the graves, and didst separate them from the dead.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Thou didst take dead bones, and didst cover them with bodies.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: They were motionless, and thou didst give them energy for life.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Thy way was without corruption, and thy face. Thou didst
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: bring thy world to corruption, that everything might be dissolved
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: and then renewed, and that the foundation for everything might
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: be thy rock. And on it thou didst build thy kingdom,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: and it became the dwelling place of the saints. Hallelujah.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: End of Chapter twenty two, Chapter twenty three. Joy is
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: of the saints, and who shall put it on but
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: they alone. Grace is of the elect, and who shall
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: receive it except those who trust in it from the beginning.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Love is of the elect, and who shall put it
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: on except those who have possessed it from the beginning.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Walk ye in the knowledge of the Most High, without
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: grudging to his exultation and to the perfection of his knowledge.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: And his thought was like in a letter. His will
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: descended from on high, and it was sent like an
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: arrow which is violently shot from the bow. And many
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: hands rushed to the letter to seize it and to
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: take and read it. And it escaped their fingers, and
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: they were affright at it and at the seal that
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: was upon it, because it was not permitted to them
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: to loose its seal, for the power that was over
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: the seal was greater than they. But those who saw
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: it went after the letter, that they might know where
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: it would alight, and who should read it, and who
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: should hear it. But a wheel received it and came
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: over it, and there was with it a sign of
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: the kingdom and of the government, and everything which tried
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: to move the wheel, it moved and cut down, and
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: it gathered the multitude of adversaries, and bridged the rivers,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: and crossed over and rooted up many forests, and made
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: a broad path. The head went down to the feet,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: for down to the feet ran the wheel, and that
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: which was a sign upon it. The letter was one
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: of command, for there were included in it all districts,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: and there it was seen at its head, the head
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: which was revealed even the Son of Truth from the
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: most high Father, and he inherited. It took possession of everything,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: and the thought of many was brought to naught, and
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: all the apostates hasted and fled away, and those who
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: persecuted and were enraged became extinct. And the letter was
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: a great volume which was wholly written by the finger
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: of God, and the name of the Father was on it,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, to
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: rule forever and ever. Hollelujah. And of chapter twenty three
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Chapter twenty four, the dove fluttered over the Messiah because
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: he was her head, and she sang over him, and
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: her voice was heard, and the inhabitants were afraid, and
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: the sojourners were moved. The birds dropped their wings, and
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: all creeping things died in their holes, and the abysses
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: were opened which had been hidden, and they cried to
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: the Lord like women in travail. And no food was
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: given to them, because it did not belong to them.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: And they sealed up the abysses with the seal of
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: the Lord. And they perished in the thought those that
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: had existed from ancient times, for they were corrupt from
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: the beginning, and the end of their corruption was life.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: And every one of them that was imperfect perished, for
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: it was not possible to give them a word that
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: they might remain. And the Lord destroyed the imaginations of
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: all them that had not the truth with them, For
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: they who in their hearts were lifted up were deficient
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: in wisdom, and so they were rejected because the truth
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: was not with them. For the Lord disclosed his way
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: and spread abroad his grace, and those who understood it
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: know his holiness. Hallelujah. End of chapter twenty four. Chapter
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: twenty five. I was rescued from my bonds, and unto
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: thee my God, I fled for Thou art the right
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: hand of my salvation. And my helper. Thou hast restrained
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: those that rise up against me, and I shall see
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: him no more, because thy face was with me, which
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: saved me by thy grace. But I was despised and
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: rejected in the eye of many, and I was in
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: their eyes like a lead. And strength was mine from thyself,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: and help Thou didst set me a lamp at my
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: right hand and at my left, and in me there
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: shall be nothing that is not bright. And I was
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: clothed with the covering of thy spirit. And thou didst
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: remove from me my raiment of skin, for thy right
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: hand lifted me up and removed sickness from me. And
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I became mighty in the truth and holy by thy righteousness.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: And all my adversaries were afraid of me. And I
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: became admirable by the name of the Lord, and was
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: justified by his gentleness. And his rest is forever and ever, Hallelujah.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: End of chapter twenty five. Chapter twenty six. I poured
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: out praise to the Lord, for I am his and
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I will speak his holy song. For my heart is
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: with him, for his harp is in my hands, and
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: the odes of his rest shall not be silent. I
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: will cry unto him from my whole heart. I will
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: praise and exalt him with all my members. For from
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: the east and even to the west is his praise,
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: And from the south and even to the north is
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: the confession of Him. And from the top of the
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: hills to their utmost bound is his perfection. Who can
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: write the psalms of the Lord, or who read them,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Or who can train his soul for life, that his
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: soul may be saved, Or who can rest on the
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: most high, so that with his mouth he may speak.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Who is able to interpret the wonders of the Lord,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: For he who could interpret would be dissolved and would
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: become that which is interpreted. For it suffices to know
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: and to rest. For in rest the singers stand like
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: a river which has an abundant fountain, and flows to
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: the help of them that seek it. Hallelujah. End of
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: chapter twenty six, Chapter twenty seven. I stretched out my
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: hands and sanctified my Lord. For the extension of my
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: hands is his sign, and my expansion is the upright
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: tree or cross. End of chapter twenty seven, Chapter twenty eight.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: As the wings of doves over their nestlings, and the
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: mouth of their nestlings towards their mouths. So also are
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: the wings of the spirit over my heart. My heart
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: is delight and exults, like the babe who exults in
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: the womb of his mother. I believed. Therefore I was
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: at rest. For faithful is he in whom I have believed.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: He has richly blessed me. And my head is with him.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: And the sword shall not divide me from him, nor
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the scimitar. For I am ready before destruction comes. And
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I have been set on his immortal pinions. And he
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: showed me his sign forth and given me to drink.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: And from that life is the spirit within me, and
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: it cannot die, for it lives. They who saw me
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: marveled at me because I was persecuted, and they suppose
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: that I was swallowed up, for I seemed to them
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: as one of the lost, and my oppression became my salvation.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: And I was their reprobation. Because there was no zeal
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: in me. Because I did good to every man. I
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: was hated, and they came round me like mad dogs
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: who ignorantly attack their masters, for their thought is corrupt
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: and their understanding perverted. But I was carrying water in
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: my right hand, and their bitterness, I endured by my sweetness,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and I did not perish, for I was not their brother,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: nor was my birth like theirs. And they sought for
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: my death and did not find it. For I was
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: older than the memorial of them. And vainly did they
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: make attack upon me. And those who without reward came
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: after me, they sought to destroy the memorial of him
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: who was before them. For the thought of the most
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: high cannot be anticipated, and his heart is superior to
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: all wisdom. Hallelujah. End of chapter twenty eight. Chapters twenty

- 1:29:12Speaker 1: by Sam Stinson, Chapter twenty nine. The Lord is my hope,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: and him I shall not be confounded. For according to
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: his praise he made me, and according to his goodness
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: even so he gave unto me, And according to his
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: mercies he exalted me, And according to his excellent beauty
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: he set me on high and brought me up out
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: of the depths of shee Oh, and from the mouth
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: of death he drew me, and thou didst lay my
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: enemies low. And he justified me by his grace. For
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: I believed in the Lord's Messiah, and it appeared to
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: me that he is the Lord. And he showed him
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: his sign, and he led me by his light, and
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: gave me the of his power, that I might subdue
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: the imaginations of the peoples and the power of the
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: men of might, to bring them low, to make war
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: by his word, and to take victory by his power.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: And the Lord overthrew my enemy by his word, and
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: he became like the stubble which the wind carries away.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: And I gave praise to the most High, because he
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: exalted me his servant and the son of his handmaid.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: How lleluyah. End of chapter twenty nine, Chapter thirty. Fill
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: ye waters for yourselves from the living fountain of the Lord,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: for it is opened to you. And come, all ye thirsty,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: and take the draft and rest by the Fountain of
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: the Lord, for fare it is and pure and gives
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: rest to the soul. Much more pleasant are its waters
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: than honey, And the honeycomb of bees is not to
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: be compared with it. It flows forth from the lips
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: of the Lord, and from the heart of the Lord
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: is its name. And it came infinitely and invisibly, and
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: until it was set in the midst they did not
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: know it. Blessed are they who have drunk therefrom and
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: have found rest thereby Hallelujah. End of chapter thirty Chapter
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: thirty one. The abysses were dissolved before the Lord, and
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: darkness was destroyed by his appearance. Error went astray and
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: perished at his hand, and folly found no path to
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: walk in, and was submerged by the truth of the Lord.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: He opened his mouth and spake grace and joy, and
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: he spake a new song of praise to his name.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: And he lifted up his voice to the most High
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: and offered to him the sons that were with him.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: And his face was justified, for thus his Holy Father
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: had given to him. Come forth, ye that have been
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: afflicted and received joy, and possess your souls by his grace,
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: and take to you a mortal life. And they made
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: me a debtor when I rose up me who had
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: been a debtor, and they divided my spoil, though nothing
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: was due to them, but I endured and held my peace,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: and was silent, as if not moved by them. But
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: I stood unshaken, like a firm rock which is beaten
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: by the waves and endurers. And I bore their bitterness
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: for humility's sake, in order that I might redeem my
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: people and inherit it, and that I might not make
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: void my promises to the fathers, to whom I promised
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: the salvation of their seed. Hallelujah. End of chapter thirty one,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Chapter thirty two. To the blessed, there is joy from
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: their hearts, and light from Him that dwells in them,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: and words from the Truth, who was self a rig it.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: For he is strengthened by the Holy power of the
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Most High, and he is unperturbed forever and ever. Halleluyah.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: And of chapter thirty two, Chapter thirty three. Again Grace
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: ran and forsook corruption and came down in him to
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: bring it to naught. And he destroyed perdition from before
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: him and devastated all its order. And he stood on
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: a lofty summit and uttered his voice from one end
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: of the earth to the other, and drew to him
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: all those who obeyed him, And there did not appear
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: as it were an evil person. But there stood a
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: perfect virgin who was proclaiming and calling and saying, O, ye,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: sons of men, return ye, and ye daughters of men,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: come ye and forsake the ways of that corruption, and
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: draw near unto me. And I will enter into you
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: and will bring you forth from perdition, and make you
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: wise in the ways of truth, that you be not
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: destroyed nor perish. Hear ye me, and be redeemed. For
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: the grace of God. I am telling among you, and
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: by my means you shall be redeemed and become blessed.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: I am your judge. And they who have put me
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: on shall not be injured, but they shall possess the
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: new world that is incorrupt. My chosen ones, walk in
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: me and my ways. I will make known to them
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: that seek me, and I will make them trust in
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: my name. Hallelujah. And of Chapter thirty three Chapter thirty four.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: No way is hard where there is a simple heart,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: nor is there any wound where the thoughts are upright,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: nor is there any storm in the depth of the
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: illuminated thought. Where one is surrounded on every side by beauty.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: There is nothing that is divided. The likeness of what
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: is below is that which is above. For everything is above.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: What is below is nothing but the imagination of those
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: that are without knowledge. Grace has been revealed for your salvation.
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Believe and live and be saved. Allelujah. And of chapter
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: thirty four, Chapter thirty five. The due of the Lord
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: in quietness he distilled upon me, and the cloud of
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: peace he caused to rise over my head, which guarded
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: me continually. And it was to me for salvation. Everything
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: was shaken, and they were affrighted, and there came forth
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: from them a smoke and a judgment. And I was
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: keeping quiet in the order of the Lord. More than
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: shelter was he to me, and more than foundation. And
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: I was carried like a child by his mother, and
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: he gave me milk the due of the Lord. And
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: I grew great by his bound empty, and rested in
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: his perfection. And I spread out my hands in the
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: lifting up of my soul. And I was made right
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: with the most High, and I was redeemed with him, hallelujah.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: End of chapter thirty five, Chapter thirty six. I rested
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: in the spirit of the Lord, and the spirit raised
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: me on high and made me stand on my feet
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: in the height of the Lord, before his perfection, in
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: his glory. While I was praising him by the composition
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: of his songs, the spirit brought me forth before the
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: face of the Lord. And although a son of Man,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: I was named the Illuminate, the son of God. While
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: I praised amongst the praising ones, and great was I
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: amongst the mighty ones. For according to the greatness of
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: the Most High, so he made me, And like his
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: own newness, he renewed me, and he anointed me from
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: his own perfection. And I came one of his neighbors.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: And my mouth was opened like a cloud of dew,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: and my heart poured out, as it were, a gushing
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: stream of righteousness. And my access to him was in peace,
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: and I was established by the spirit of his government.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: How llelujah. End of chapter thirty six, Chapter thirty seven.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: I stretched out my hands to my Lord, and to
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: the Most High. I raised my voice, and I spake
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: with the lips of my heart, and he heard me.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: When my voice reached I him. His answer came to
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: me and gave me the fruits of my labors, and
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: it gave me rest by the grace of the Lord.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: How llelujah. End of chapter thirty seven. Chapter thirty eight.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: I went up to the light of Truth, as if
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: into a chariot, and the Truth took me, led me,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: and carried me across pits and gullies, and from the
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: rocks and the waves. It preserved me, and it became
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: to me a haven of salvation, and set me on
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: the arms of immortal life. And it went with me
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: and made me rest and suffered me not to wander,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: because it was the truth. And I ran no risk
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: because I walked with him. And I did not make
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: an error in anything, because I obeyed the Truth. For
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: error flees away from it and meets it not, but
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: the Truth proceeds in the right path. And whatever I
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: did not know, it made clear to me all the
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: poisons of error and the plagues of death, which they
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: think to be sweetness. And I saw the destroyer of destruction,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: when the bride who is corrupted is adorned, and the
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: bridegroom who corrupts and is corrupted. And I asked the Truth,
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: who are these? And he said to me, this is
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: the deceiver and the error. And they are alike in
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: the beloved and in his bride. And they lead astray
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: and corrupt the whole world. And they invite many to
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: the banquet and give them to drink of the wine
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: of their intoxication, and remove their wisdom and knowledge. And
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: so they make them without intelligence, and then they leave them.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: And then these go about like madmen, corrupting, seeing that
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: they are without heart, nor do they seek for it.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: And I was made wise so as not to fall
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: into the hands of the deceiver. And I congratulated myself
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: because the truth went with me. And I was established
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: and lived and was redeemed. And my foundations were laid
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: on the hand of the Lord, because he established me.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: For he set the root and watered it, and fixed
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: it and blessed it, and its fruits are forever. It
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: struck deep and sprung up and spread out, and was
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: full and enlarged. And the Lord alone was glorified in
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: his planting and in his husbandry, by his care, and
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: by the blessing of his lips, by the beautiful planting
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: of his right hand, and by the discovery of his planting,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: and by the thought of his mind. Hallelujah. And of
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: chapter thirty eight, Chapter thirty nine, great rivers are the
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: power of the Lord and they carry headlong those who
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: despise him and entangle their paths, and they sweep away
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: their fords, and catch their bodies and destroy their lives.
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: For they are more swift than lightning, and more rapid.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: And those who cross them in faith are not moved.
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: And those who walk on them without blemish shall not
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: be afraid. For the sign in them is the Lord,
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: and the sign is the way of those who cross
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: in the name of the Lord. Put on therefore the
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: name of the Most High, and know him, and you
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: shall will cross without danger, for the rivers will be
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: subject to you. The Lord has bridged them by his word,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: and he walked and crossed them on foot. And his
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: footsteps stand firm on the water and are not injured.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: They are as firm as a tree that is truly
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: set up. And the waves were lifted up on this
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: side and on that. But the footsteps of our Lord
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Messiah stand firm and are not obliterated, and are not defaced.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: And away has been appointed for those who cross after him,
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: and for those who adhere to the course of faith
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: in Him and worship his name. How llelujah. End of
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: chapter thirty nine, Chapter forty as the honey distills from
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: the comb of the bees, and the milk flows from
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: the woman that loves her children. So also is my
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: hope on thee my God. As the fountain gushes out
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: its water, so my heart gushes out the praise of
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: the Lord, and my lips utter praise to Him, and
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: my tongue his songs, and my face exults with his gladness,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: and my spirit exalts in his love, and my soul
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: shines in him, and reverence confides in him, and redemption
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: in him stands assured. And his inheritance is immortal life,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: and those who participate in it are incorrupt. Hallelujah. End
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: of chapter forty Chapter forty one. All the Lord's children
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: will praise him and will collect the truth of his faith,
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: and his children shall be known to him. Therefore we
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: will sing in his love. We live in the Lord,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: by his grace and life we receive in his Messiah.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: For a great day has shined upon us, and marvelous
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: is he who has given us of his glory. Let us,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: therefore all of us unite together in the name of
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: the Lord, and let us honor him in his goodness,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: and let our faces shine in his light. And let
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: our hearts meditate in his love by night and by day,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: let us exalt with the joy of the Lord. All
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: those will be astonished that see me. For from another
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: race am I. For the Father of Truth remembered me,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: he who possessed me from the beginning, for his bounty
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: begat me. And the thought of his heart and his
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: word is with us in all our way. The Savior
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: who makes alive and does not reject our souls, the
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: man who was humbled and exalted by his own righteousness.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: The sun of the most High appeared in the perfection
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: of his father, and light dawned from the word that
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: was before time in him. The Messiah is truly one,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: and he was known before the foundation of the world,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: that he might save souls forever. By the truth of
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: his name. A new song arises from those who love him. Howelujah.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: End of chapter forty one, Chapter forty two. I stretched
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: out my hands and approached my Lord. For the stretching
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: of my hands is his sign. My expansion is the
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: outspread tree which was set up on the way of
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: the Righteous One. And I became of no account to
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: those who did not take hold of me and I
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: shall be with those who loved me. All my persecutors
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: are dead, and they sought after me, who hoped in me,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: because I was alive. And I rose up and am
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: with them. And I will speak by their mouths, for
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: they have despised those who persecuted them. And I lifted
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: up over them the yoke of my love. Like the
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: arm of the bridegroom over the bride, so was my
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: yoke over them that know me. And as the couch
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: that is spread in the house of the bridegroom and bride,
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: so is my love over those that believe in me.
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: And I was not rejected, though I was reckoned to be.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: So I did not perish, though they devised it against me.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: She ol saw me and was made miserable. Death cast
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: me up, and many along with me. I had gall
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: and bitterness, and I went down with him to the
