Transcript
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hey there.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Today's meditation centers around letting go of expectations and returning to what matters.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So when you're ready, take a moment to settle into your body.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: And wherever you are, just allow yourself to arrive fully.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Allow your shoulders to drop.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Unclench your jaw.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And take a slow, steady breath in through the nose.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And a longer breath out through the mouth.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And once again, now inhaling presence and exhaling urgency.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: There is nowhere else you need to be right now.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Not a thing that you need to achieve in this moment.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Just this moment.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Let's begin by drawing your attention inward.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Without judgment.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Notice what expectations may be present.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Not the dramatic ones, but the quiet, constant ones that sort of hum beneath the surface.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Expectations of yourself, of how you should be feeling.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: What you should have done by now.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Who you think you need to be in order to belong, succeed, or be enough.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Let them rise into your awareness gently.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: You may notice phrases forming in the mind.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: I need to.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I should have.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Simply notice them.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: There's no need to argue with them.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Just acknowledge.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Ah, there you are.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And now expand your awareness outward.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Notice expectations that may not be yours at all.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Messages that you've absorbed from family, from culture, from your industry, from roles you've stepped into and carried for a long time.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Who are you expected to be for others?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: How are you expected to show up?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: What outcomes are you subtly holding yourself responsible for?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And again, no fixing, no judging, simply seeing clearly.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And now imagine these expectations as messages written on small cards, each one holding a sentence, a demand, a story.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And one by one allow a few of them to become visible.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: You might silently name them.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: This is a performance expectation.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: This is a perfection story.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: This message is about approval.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: This one is rooted in fear.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: If it feels helpful, gently ask with curiosity, where did this message come from?
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: And does it still belong to me?
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: There is no right answer.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Just curiosity.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And now imagine placing these cards into a container, a bowl or a basket, a river or a fire, whatever image feels right for you.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: You're not destroying them.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: You're simply setting them down.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: With each exhale, feel yourself loosening your grip.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: You might silently say, I release the need to meet this expectation.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: I release the pressure to prove.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Now let your breath do the work.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Inhale, creating space.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: And exhale, softening attachment.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Notice how your body responds as the space opens.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Inhale, creating space.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Exhale, softening attachment.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Noticing how your body responds to this spaciousness.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe there's relief, perhaps uncertainty.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe quiet.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, all of it is welcome.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Now in the space that has been created, turn your attention inward once more.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And without expectations or scripts, gently ask what matters to me right now.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Not what should matter or what used to matter, but what truly feels true in this season, in this moment.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: You may notice a value beginning to surface maybe more than one.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Simply notice what's emerging.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Imaging into it.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Invite it to settle into your body, not as a goal, but as a compass.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Ask softly, how might I live from this value just a little more today?
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Allow the answer to be gentle, even incomplete.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: Notice the spaciousness.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Begin to bring awareness back to your body.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Feel the support beneath you, the rhythm of your breath, the steadiness of this moment.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Keep in mind you are simply remembering that expectations are optional.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: What remains when they fall away is what truly matters.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: When you're ready, slowly open your eyes and carry this sense of spaciousness with you.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: And let your values, not your expectations, lead the way.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Namaste, my friend.
