- 3:13Speaker 6: Hey, welcome back to the Son of a Boy Dad podcast.
- 3:16Speaker 6: Today it is June twenty.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Fourth, Jesus on that huh, can you believe that?
- 3:23Speaker 6: I know it's fine. By Ron's not here. He is
- 3:26Speaker 6: sick with COVID. Supposedly, we believe signs are pointing to COVID,
- 3:33Speaker 6: signs are pointing to COVID for rone or yeah, perhaps
- 3:36Speaker 6: any other sort of sickness as well. Yeah, exactly, But
- 3:40Speaker 6: uh so he's not here, so it's just free me
- 3:42Speaker 6: and Francis and yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah, some of what are his symptoms that he said?
- 3:49Speaker 6: He said, swimming in dizziness. Yeah, I don't know what
- 3:54Speaker 6: that means. It was something like he used a way
- 3:56Speaker 6: to describe a sickness that I've never heard a sickness described.
- 3:59Speaker 6: He said.
- 3:59Speaker 3: He was.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Why I don't feel like I have fear, but my
- 4:06Speaker 6: head is swimming. I heard he had, and I'm a
- 4:09Speaker 6: mucus factory. Decreased sperm count, infertility that aids no COVID.
- 4:19Speaker 6: COVID Well, the age is decreased. What white blood cell
- 4:23Speaker 6: he got.
- 4:23Speaker 9: The COVID vaccine. So apparently I think in this state
- 4:31Speaker 9: of a fog that he's in, he's drawing up plans
- 4:33Speaker 9: to try to hijack an airplane and very nice crash
- 4:37Speaker 9: it into a major industrial center that would suck just
- 4:41Speaker 9: trying to tie all these conspiracies.
- 4:43Speaker 6: It would do really well for our podcast. Like if
- 4:48Speaker 6: Ron didn't show up today and then there was a
- 4:50Speaker 6: terrorist attack in New York and it was him that
- 4:52Speaker 6: did it, people would be like, well, now we got
- 4:54Speaker 6: to go back and listen to every single episode of
- 4:56Speaker 6: some of them. We wouldn't even have to have a
- 4:57Speaker 6: record an episode again, who saw it coming? Yeah, we
- 5:00Speaker 6: could go back and listen to every People would listen
- 5:02Speaker 6: to every single episode. Yeah, we'd probably have to pull
- 5:05Speaker 6: the warm ode episodes before that I got out of hand,
- 5:10Speaker 6: but yeah, one can only help.
- 5:12Speaker 9: I may have asked you this before, but have you
- 5:15Speaker 9: ever been so angry at someone doesn't have to be
- 5:18Speaker 9: someone you know, which is someone that you ran into
- 5:20Speaker 9: or something that happened that you started thinking seriously about
- 5:24Speaker 9: having them killed or killing them.
- 5:26Speaker 6: No ever, M like, not even close, to be honest, really, yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 6: never even close. Even my parents when I was like.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Ten, Oh that's god fucking hate you. That's worse than
- 5:39Speaker 3: what I was thinking.
- 5:40Speaker 6: You've never gotten mad at your parents or you're like
- 5:42Speaker 6: I wish you were dead.
- 5:44Speaker 3: No, I'm road rage and.
- 5:48Speaker 9: Doing something where I thought I want that person to
- 5:51Speaker 9: die immediately.
- 5:52Speaker 6: See road rage. I don't get like that because I
- 5:54Speaker 6: don't drive that much. So when I do drive, it's
- 5:56Speaker 6: like a it's like a gift. I'm like, this is
- 5:58Speaker 6: so fun that I'm dreful.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a peaceful.
- 6:00Speaker 6: But traffic in New Jersey, I get like super angry,
- 6:06Speaker 6: but I get I get more angry. I don't get
- 6:08Speaker 6: as angry at the people that are cutting the line,
- 6:12Speaker 6: that are that are driving on the corner. I get
- 6:14Speaker 6: mad at the people that are letting them in.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 6: I'm like I talk to myself and I'm like, have
- 6:19Speaker 6: a fucking spine. Why are you letting them just walk
- 6:22Speaker 6: all over us?
- 6:23Speaker 3: I don't disagree.
- 6:24Speaker 6: All you have to do is just inch forward so
- 6:26Speaker 6: that they can't angle their car in front of yours. Yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 6: hold it, Like, don't feel like someone just ripped your
- 6:32Speaker 6: balls off when you're letting them just drive directly in
- 6:35Speaker 6: front of you.
- 6:36Speaker 9: Those are the types of people that if we were
- 6:38Speaker 9: in a giant war and an invading army was charging
- 6:42Speaker 9: at us, oh yeah, they'd be like oh yeah, they'd
- 6:45Speaker 9: turn and they'd run. Yeah, you gotta hold the line.
- 6:49Speaker 9: I'm very I'm I'm I stay loyal to my lane. Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 9: even when you're in jam, and even when you're in
- 6:54Speaker 9: bumper to mupper traffic, and people are like, you know,
- 6:57Speaker 9: because people get a little they get a little lancey,
- 6:59Speaker 9: and I see one of the lanes moving a little
- 7:01Speaker 9: faster than they switch over to that lane.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Next thing you know, I'm flying by them. Because that's
- 7:04Speaker 6: not how traffic works. It's not just one lane is
- 7:06Speaker 6: moving faster than the other. So you gotta stay loyal
- 7:09Speaker 6: to your lane. And you got to pick a car
- 7:11Speaker 6: next to you, and you got to say, hey, if
- 7:13Speaker 6: they get way ahead of me, I'll know I fucked up.
- 7:16Speaker 6: But they never do. They'll get half a mile ahead
- 7:19Speaker 6: of you, and the next thing you know, you're flying by.
- 7:22Speaker 9: It's amazing. It's truly amazing how traffic is a science. Yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 9: Oh my god, I am so glad this is where
- 7:32Speaker 9: we are right now in this conversation.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Here's the thing.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Traffic circles, Yeah, slash roundabouts, slash rotaries. Yeah, I think yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 6: all one and the same. Yeah, maybe there is a
- 7:46Speaker 6: distinction between them. Well, we're not gonna say that definitively.
- 7:50Speaker 6: I'm like ninety percent sure.
- 7:53Speaker 9: I am talking specifically about ones that have two lanes, okay,
- 7:58Speaker 9: the inside lane and the outside lane.
- 8:01Speaker 6: Yeah, like when you get out of the hall, when
- 8:02Speaker 6: you get into the city, there's two lanes.
- 8:06Speaker 9: Mmmm, that one. No, I'm not talking about that one.
- 8:10Speaker 9: I'm talking about ones that are full circle. Is that
- 8:13Speaker 9: not full So I always that's not a full circle.
- 8:16Speaker 3: You can't keep going around that one.
- 8:18Speaker 6: I've never been past the first exit, so I thought
- 8:20Speaker 6: I assumed it was full circle.
- 8:22Speaker 9: No, I'm talking about traffic circles, rotaries, roundabouts where you
- 8:26Speaker 9: can keep going around in hostly.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 9: To the best of my knowledge, this was not covered
- 8:33Speaker 9: in Drivers head Now I took driver's d I was
- 8:38Speaker 9: sixteen thirty five, nineteen years ago.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 9: My guess is that the country of the United States
- 8:47Speaker 9: of America at that time did not have many roundabouts, rotaries,
- 8:53Speaker 9: traffic circles.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Nineteen years ago, m hm, we were a nation of
- 8:59Speaker 6: stop lights. Okay, four corners.
- 9:03Speaker 9: Yeah, and then the rule was always whoever gets there
- 9:07Speaker 9: first goes. And then I think you either go in
- 9:09Speaker 9: the order of getting there first or maybe yeah, yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 9: that's right. You know, you try to be courteous. Traffic
- 9:16Speaker 9: experts realize that roundabouts and traffic circles are a much
- 9:19Speaker 9: more efficient way of keeping traffic moving. Actually, never, it's
- 9:23Speaker 9: more it's a yield in, yeah, as opposed to a
- 9:26Speaker 9: full stop wait for the light to change. And so
- 9:30Speaker 9: traffic circles have are you know, very much replacing as
- 9:35Speaker 9: far as I can tell, like four corner traffic lights,
- 9:38Speaker 9: stops or intersections makes sense, but I don't know how
- 9:43Speaker 9: to navigate them.
- 9:44Speaker 6: Why.
- 9:46Speaker 9: Okay, let's say that I enter a traffic circle and
- 9:50Speaker 9: I'm the third exit from the one I got on.
- 9:55Speaker 9: Do I go into the inner lane or do I
- 9:59Speaker 9: stay in the outer lane.
- 10:01Speaker 6: I don't know who's driving in the inner lane on
- 10:02Speaker 6: a rotary, because I'm always as soon as I get
- 10:06Speaker 6: into a rotary, I go to the outer lane.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yes, but.
- 10:10Speaker 9: So so exactly who's the inner lane for? Sometimes I
- 10:14Speaker 9: go in there if I think I've got a long
- 10:15Speaker 9: way to go before my exit and I don't.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Want that three seconds instead of two. It's never that long.
- 10:23Speaker 9: Well, but but if i'm if I'm not getting off
- 10:25Speaker 9: with the next one, yeah, the adjacent one, And I
- 10:29Speaker 9: see on my navigation that's the other thing. The navigation
- 10:33Speaker 9: does not make that clear.
- 10:34Speaker 6: No, never, I am yuessing, yeah, And sometimes I'm so
- 10:38Speaker 6: uncertain that I just say, you know what, I'm going
- 10:40Speaker 6: to go around again. Yeah, it's always humiliating heavy.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I've gone around a couple of times. Yeah, me too,
- 10:45Speaker 3: and I feel like a hamster.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Yeah it doesn't feel good because you're not gonna know.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Other cars are starting to notice. Yes, yeah, they're like
- 10:51Speaker 6: this guy's just going around in circles.
- 10:53Speaker 3: This guy's advertising something.
- 10:55Speaker 6: Yeah, to keep going around.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah, the inner lane is for continued laps.
- 11:04Speaker 6: I also, but I also get in the I get
- 11:05Speaker 6: in the right lane immediately because I have a like
- 11:08Speaker 6: I get. I get in the right lane when I'm
- 11:10Speaker 6: like five miles away from my exit, because I'm always
- 11:13Speaker 6: convinced that I'm gonna suddenly miss it or I'm not
- 11:15Speaker 6: gonna be able to merge over. So I get what
- 11:18Speaker 6: I get. Like that, like just driving on a highway,
- 11:21Speaker 6: I'll get over to the right lane early. Oh so
- 11:22Speaker 6: I get over to the right lane as soon as
- 11:24Speaker 6: I get into a road.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I see.
- 11:26Speaker 9: So if you're on the outer lane, are you not
- 11:30Speaker 9: preventing other cars? To me, that's like a more dangerous
- 11:34Speaker 9: lane because cars could you could come in and not
- 11:38Speaker 9: see you.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Buddy.
- 11:41Speaker 9: These things are hard for me, and I don't like
- 11:46Speaker 9: the fact that nobody gave me a soft software upgrade
- 11:51Speaker 9: on how to do them. Yeah, America, those are European.
- 11:56Speaker 9: That's fast, that's fucking socialism.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I to be honest, I don't know.
- 12:00Speaker 9: It came over and nobody, nobody upgraded the people who
- 12:03Speaker 9: were taught and drivers said how to take traffic stops, intersections, Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 9: with traffic lights the American way. Let your car idle
- 12:13Speaker 9: spew that black smoke out to thin the ozone layer. Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 9: roll the coal as they say.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:21Speaker 9: And now we've got these weird you know, communist traffic circles.
- 12:25Speaker 6: Well, it's probably for like jam packed rotaries, probably for
- 12:30Speaker 6: when there's a ton of traffic, so that if you're
- 12:32Speaker 6: not getting off and that lines at that line's long
- 12:36Speaker 6: as hell, you can get into the inner lane and
- 12:39Speaker 6: then go around that line and get back into the
- 12:40Speaker 6: right lane.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Oh okay, so you're talking about two.
- 12:45Speaker 6: Some rotaries have a stoplight at like like when you
- 12:48Speaker 6: get off, and then those overflow that's dudes.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Literally they don't have a stoplight to get off the circle.
- 12:55Speaker 6: No, Like, once you're off the circle, there can be
- 12:57Speaker 6: a stoplight right there and then that can cause traffic,
- 13:01Speaker 6: Like when you get off of when you get through
- 13:03Speaker 6: the hall In Tunnel and you get into New York
- 13:05Speaker 6: and there's that.
- 13:06Speaker 3: You're not thinking that is not a traffic circle.
- 13:08Speaker 6: I know what a roador is. That's the only example
- 13:10Speaker 6: I can think, though.
- 13:11Speaker 3: It doesn't even go all the way around.
- 13:13Speaker 6: It's a sick I've only ever been I've only ever
- 13:17Speaker 6: been on the first quarter of it, so I don't
- 13:19Speaker 6: I didn't know that. But there's a traffic light once
- 13:23Speaker 6: you turn off the first exit. Doesn't it strike that
- 13:25Speaker 6: starts to overflow?
- 13:27Speaker 9: Doesn't it strike you as rather obvious that when you
- 13:30Speaker 9: come out of the Holland Tunnel, you don't have to
- 13:32Speaker 9: look to your left to see if more cars are
- 13:34Speaker 9: coming around the circle. There's just a wall of concrete there.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 6: I never actually looked. And you go up a rank,
- 13:41Speaker 6: I kind of just follow the herd.
- 13:43Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you go up and around and it's
- 13:45Speaker 9: a c The last stop I think is Canal Street.
- 13:48Speaker 6: I'd assume it's probably for traffic. We know what it's for.
- 13:54Speaker 9: We know what it's for, And I do believe the
- 13:57Speaker 9: science that traffic circles are a more efficient way to
- 14:02Speaker 9: keep traffic moving. Yeah, van an intersection with traffic lights.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 9: My issue, little Sasquatch, is that nobody has taught me
- 14:11Speaker 9: how to do it.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Well.
- 14:13Speaker 6: It seems like it's pretty self Explanatory's probably why they
- 14:15Speaker 6: didn't teach.
- 14:16Speaker 9: You don't have a good answer for when you go
- 14:18Speaker 9: to the middle versus stay on the outside. You just
- 14:21Speaker 9: said what you prefer to do. Yeah, I think that's
- 14:23Speaker 9: what everyone prefers to do. That's why no one goes
- 14:25Speaker 9: in the middle. Well, but that's not the way, though
- 14:27Speaker 9: there may be Why would they have two lanes. There
- 14:30Speaker 9: must be a reason to keep two lanes. And think
- 14:32Speaker 9: about this. Think about how hard it is to switch
- 14:36Speaker 9: lanes when you're on a curve.
- 14:38Speaker 6: It is, you drift out, but then you gotta rip
- 14:40Speaker 6: back because you're curving again. It's not tough, though, it's
- 14:44Speaker 6: really not. I've never thought about this ever. Then you
- 14:46Speaker 6: haven't been a small thought. No, you haven't been in
- 14:49Speaker 6: a complicated one. I was in one the other day
- 14:51Speaker 6: and I said to myself, I'm so scared right now
- 14:52Speaker 6: that I'm just gonna keep going round. I grew up
- 14:54Speaker 6: in town. We had three rotaries in our town. I'm
- 14:56Speaker 6: gonna wait till this third fins a little. Yeah, wait
- 14:59Speaker 6: till it fins out, and we could be here a while.
- 15:01Speaker 6: So you just went around a bunch.
- 15:03Speaker 9: I went around at least one and a half times.
- 15:05Speaker 9: I also again the fucking navigation, that gradual line that
- 15:10Speaker 9: sends you out.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Yeah of the circle. Yeah, it could have applied to
- 15:14Speaker 6: four different says yeah. That shit infuriates me.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It infuriates me. It infuriates me.
- 15:20Speaker 6: When you're on a long drive and it says you're
- 15:23Speaker 6: turning right in fifteen miles and then out of nowhere. Oh,
- 15:28Speaker 6: I guess I was supposed to turn right back there.
- 15:30Speaker 6: But you're like, well, why didn't it tell me that
- 15:32Speaker 6: that was clearly a right turn? Why did it not
- 15:34Speaker 6: tell me about that turn?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Are you telling me about when there's a fork.
- 15:38Speaker 6: In the road and they're like, you were supposed to
- 15:40Speaker 6: go that, and it's like, well, how did I How
- 15:42Speaker 6: was I supposed to know that?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Wait?
- 15:44Speaker 9: Are you saying you add you miss a turn that
- 15:46Speaker 9: they didn't tell you. I don't tell you fifteen miles
- 15:48Speaker 9: to your track, No.
- 15:48Speaker 6: Like it says your next turn is in fifteen miles,
- 15:51Speaker 6: but secretly it turns out your next turn was actually
- 15:54Speaker 6: supposed to be in three hundred feet or in two miles.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 15:59Speaker 6: That's sounds like you've got some faulty software there. Google Maps,
- 16:03Speaker 6: they tend to be the best. Yeah, they are the
- 16:06Speaker 6: gold standard. I because I was. I was very pro
- 16:08Speaker 6: Apple Maps for a while, and then I used to
- 16:10Speaker 6: New Jersey.
- 16:11Speaker 3: It's fucking weird.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Yeah, and then I went to New Jersey with John
- 16:14Speaker 6: Kennedy and Brandon Burrera for to go to New Brunswick,
- 16:17Speaker 6: and my god, did we have a hard time. Apple
- 16:21Speaker 6: masps could not, for the life of it figure out
- 16:24Speaker 6: where we were.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I can't believe you were using Apple.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Mass It had us like in the middle of the Hudson.
- 16:28Speaker 3: That's the woke map company. Their narrator is Arab.
- 16:33Speaker 6: No, you can actually change it to like any voice really. Yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 6: on ways you can have your narrator be DJ Khaled.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Is that so?
- 16:40Speaker 6: Yeah? I don't know who would ever want that, But
- 16:43Speaker 6: it's for somebody, I guess. Maybe it's for DJ Khalid.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I don't know who could possibly be, Like, you know what,
- 16:50Speaker 6: make this eight hour drive go a little faster? DJ
- 16:53Speaker 6: Khaled yelling the directions every thirty seconds. Maybe it's for
- 16:58Speaker 6: like because you know when you you know, when you
- 16:59Speaker 6: listen a lot of music and then it cuts off
- 17:01Speaker 6: the music. Maybe it's like if you're a Migos fan,
- 17:04Speaker 6: so that it he chimes in and you don't even
- 17:06Speaker 6: notice that, you don't even notice that it cut off
- 17:07Speaker 6: the music, dude.
- 17:09Speaker 3: When I used to.
- 17:11Speaker 9: When I was in high school, when I when I
- 17:13Speaker 9: first started smoking weed, I didn't want to drive high,
- 17:17Speaker 9: but you know occasionally you would.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 6: I never have really, no, never. I didn't really smoke
- 17:23Speaker 6: weed in high school.
- 17:24Speaker 9: So this was before I knew that driving high was like, well,
- 17:29Speaker 9: I don't think anyone fundamentally like illegal, yeah, or you're
- 17:33Speaker 9: actually impaired. There was always this like narrative among at
- 17:38Speaker 9: least high school idiots.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Yeah, that it was like fun, driving high is fine.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Don't drive drunk, yeah, don't drive drunk, but driving high
- 17:45Speaker 6: it's fine.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 6: No, everyone that seemed to be like, turns out that's wrong. Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Among my friend group, that was like a never, Like
- 17:54Speaker 6: I've watched my friends take like a two gram dab
- 17:57Speaker 6: and then drive home and no one whatever even be
- 18:00Speaker 6: like Texas when you get home, it would just be
- 18:01Speaker 6: like I'll see tomorrow, dude, I No one even considered
- 18:04Speaker 6: the idea of that being a bad thing.
- 18:06Speaker 9: Yeah, I used to be so paranoid driving high and
- 18:10Speaker 9: all the rap music back then, fifty cent they would
- 18:12Speaker 9: always have sirens in them.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 9: Yeah, And I'm telling you, I'd be listening to some
- 18:19Speaker 9: rap or something. I'd be on the highway and one
- 18:21Speaker 9: of these fucking like you know, uh, what's that guy's name?
- 18:26Speaker 9: Fabulous songs. Yeah, I'd be listening to and there'd be
- 18:29Speaker 9: a siren that would come on in the background, and
- 18:32Speaker 9: I would be looking over my shoulder pulling off the
- 18:36Speaker 9: into the fucking breakdown. Yeah yeah, yeah, because I'm like,
- 18:40Speaker 9: I'm getting pulled over. My life's over. I should I
- 18:42Speaker 9: call my parents now? Yeah, Like what's the bail going
- 18:44Speaker 9: to be? You know, YadA YadA. And then you'd see
- 18:48Speaker 9: no police cars go by, and you'd be like, oh,
- 18:50Speaker 9: it's this rap music.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Maybe I should switch the pop down.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Yeah. When I was in fifth grade, we kid brought
- 18:55Speaker 6: a speaker on our bus and played sirens through the speaker,
- 18:58Speaker 6: and the bus driver pulled over and we were on
- 19:01Speaker 6: the highway and it was a big deal. People got
- 19:04Speaker 6: in a lot of trouble for that.
- 19:05Speaker 3: He played only sirens.
- 19:07Speaker 6: He turned his speaker on and he played police sirens. Wow,
- 19:11Speaker 6: like super loud. And then it was like this old
- 19:14Speaker 6: Vietnam veteran bus driver. I don't know why bus drivers Like,
- 19:20Speaker 6: if you're a veteran and you're a bus driver, I
- 19:21Speaker 6: think you're like required to wear your full uniform to
- 19:23Speaker 6: work every day. He never told anyone he was a
- 19:27Speaker 6: Vietnam VET. You just knew because every single pair of
- 19:30Speaker 6: clothes he had fatigue. He had Vietnam veteran on.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah, right right.
- 19:34Speaker 6: They must just send you like a fucking care package
- 19:37Speaker 6: once a week with just a full jumpsuit.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I also have.
- 19:40Speaker 9: This is something I've always been troubled by. I'm pretty
- 19:42Speaker 9: sure you can buy those.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Oh.
- 19:44Speaker 5: I have.
- 19:48Speaker 9: Fully commit stolen valor through a gift shop in Times
- 19:52Speaker 9: Square of purchasing a thing that says like Korean War
- 19:56Speaker 9: vet or Yeah.
- 19:58Speaker 6: I have a Korean Korea vet shirt. It's like the
- 20:00Speaker 6: coolest shirt I own. It's a six shirt. It says
- 20:03Speaker 6: like the Forgotten War on it. It's an awesome shirt,
- 20:07Speaker 6: but I can't every time I wear it. And I
- 20:09Speaker 6: posted like an Instagram story wearing it one time. People
- 20:11Speaker 6: were furious. I didn't realize it was that big of
- 20:13Speaker 6: a deal. I bought it at a thrift store, right, yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 6: I think it is. Yeah, I don't wear it anymore,
- 20:20Speaker 6: but no one's looking at me being like wow, really.
- 20:22Speaker 9: I wonder if yeah, well he looks young. He must
- 20:28Speaker 9: have been in the back. He must have been cooking
- 20:33Speaker 9: in the mess hall. You were the dermatologist for the
- 20:38Speaker 9: Korean War veterans. I do wonder if if you had
- 20:43Speaker 9: a parent or a grandparent who was who fought in
- 20:46Speaker 9: one of those wars, and you wore their shirt to
- 20:49Speaker 9: honor them, is that acceptable?
- 20:51Speaker 3: I doubt it.
- 20:52Speaker 6: No, I think it probably is. If it was like
- 20:54Speaker 6: your grandfather was in the Korean War, you could probably
- 20:56Speaker 6: wear Korean War but you'd have to explain to people. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 6: but it's a pretty easy cop out. If someone was like,
- 21:02Speaker 6: what is why you're.
- 21:03Speaker 9: Yeah, sure, and got mad at you for wearing a
- 21:05Speaker 9: Korean War vet shirt, to me, that's kind of silly
- 21:07Speaker 9: because you're really not trying to pass no.
- 21:09Speaker 6: And then you'd be like, my grandfather's in the Korean War.
- 21:12Speaker 9: And yeah, and you do know that the Korean War
- 21:15Speaker 9: was like sixty years ago, right, yes, saying that I'm
- 21:18Speaker 9: not saying that to you. I'm saying something someone who's
- 21:20Speaker 9: mad at you for wearing that.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Derek Dresher claims that it's still go It never ended
- 21:26Speaker 6: out a ceasefire the Korean War, Yeah, because he was
- 21:29Speaker 6: stationed in Korea in like two thousand and two or
- 21:33Speaker 6: some shit.
- 21:33Speaker 9: Derek Dresher was, Yeah, I didn't know that he was
- 21:37Speaker 9: in the military.
- 21:38Speaker 6: He never talks about it. I don't know why. He
- 21:40Speaker 6: has hilarious stories.
- 21:41Speaker 3: That's cool, that's cooler.
- 21:43Speaker 9: Yeah, then I gotta tell you, if I did one
- 21:46Speaker 9: week in the military, I would be telling stories about it.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I always tell him.
- 21:51Speaker 6: I talked about that on stage and he's like, I
- 21:52Speaker 6: don't want to be like a military comic.
- 21:55Speaker 3: But I'm like, that's not that's not a thing. There
- 21:57Speaker 3: aren't many.
- 21:58Speaker 6: Yeah, true, there are comic.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah. Rob Briggle was a big time There's a.
- 22:05Speaker 6: Lot of comedians that there's like a there's a good
- 22:07Speaker 6: amount of comedians that are that are veterans.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Is that so?
- 22:12Speaker 6: I have no idea?
- 22:12Speaker 3: Can you name one more? Do you have one?
- 22:16Speaker 6: Uh? The guy that opened for me in Portland, Shane
- 22:19Speaker 6: was his name.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Oh you know who was.
- 22:24Speaker 9: In the military. Uh, Austin comic, really really funny black.
- 22:30Speaker 6: Comic Brian Simpson. Yes, really, yeah he was. Now we
- 22:36Speaker 6: got three right off the top.
- 22:39Speaker 3: He's really good. Yeah, he was in the military.
- 22:43Speaker 6: He's really funny. I watched Special. I told no, you didn't.
- 22:47Speaker 6: I watched it a special before I watched Special the
- 22:49Speaker 6: day it came out. It was very, very funny. I
- 22:52Speaker 6: watched it because I wanted to see what the mother
- 22:53Speaker 6: ship looks like he shot it. But then I watched it,
- 22:57Speaker 6: I was like, damn, this is fucking fun.
- 22:58Speaker 3: It's really good. He's sort of like Hannibal a little.
- 23:01Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, how I didn't obviously I didn't do comedy
- 23:05Speaker 6: when Hannibal was super big. But when he was really big,
- 23:07Speaker 6: was he like the biggest?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Uh? I no, But but it.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Was like he was like a theater because I know
- 23:14Speaker 6: he was kind of like unbelievable or was he like
- 23:19Speaker 6: but it was like like, I know, like among comedians
- 23:21Speaker 6: everyone says that, but was he like.
- 23:22Speaker 9: Well, he ran that show. He ran that show in
- 23:25Speaker 9: Williamsburg with Eric Hundre. Yeah, Think at the Knitting Fact,
- 23:31Speaker 9: which became a cult classic show that everyone would go to.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they.
- 23:36Speaker 9: Passed it down to different people. As they were blowing
- 23:41Speaker 9: up and the two of them. Obviously Hannibal was eric
- 23:45Speaker 9: right hand man. Yeah, I don't know what's up with Hannibal.
- 23:47Speaker 9: I haven't seen him in a little bit, but he.
- 23:50Speaker 6: The funniest bit on that One of my favorite bits
- 23:52Speaker 6: on that show is when Hannibal sings uh hard in
- 23:54Speaker 6: the paint by Walk of Flaka and they bleep every
- 23:57Speaker 6: curse word aside for the M word.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Well, okay, so that's roundabouts. Yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 6: I'm kind of just in cruise control because I really
- 24:13Speaker 6: overestimated or underestimated how much time I had between my
- 24:16Speaker 6: don't Tail set and my going to Wyoming trip, because
- 24:20Speaker 6: I was under the impression that I was coming home
- 24:22Speaker 6: from San Diego, and like, just like leaving for Wyoming,
- 24:27Speaker 6: my bag has been fully packed for two weeks, like
- 24:33Speaker 6: to the point that like my shit is in like
- 24:35Speaker 6: the waterproof bags in my bag, My fishing rods are
- 24:39Speaker 6: strapped to the side of my bag. Like I'm ready.
- 24:42Speaker 6: I've been ready to go for over a week, just gone. Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 6: like I didn't book I have I've had I had
- 24:49Speaker 6: to one show this weekend and I have one show
- 24:53Speaker 6: this week. I didn't put in any spots because I
- 24:55Speaker 6: was like, well, I'm gonna be in Wyoming by then,
- 24:58Speaker 6: and then I realized it's this Friday, and then this
- 25:00Speaker 6: it's not even like it's this Friday. And then We're
- 25:02Speaker 6: not leaving until Sunday. So I'm not even going to
- 25:04Speaker 6: go fishing until a week from today, right, So by
- 25:09Speaker 6: that trip, I'm pumped about that.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Really. Yeah, Oh I didn't know.
- 25:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm very excited.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 25:16Speaker 6: Things have things have changed around a lot, keep having
- 25:20Speaker 6: to keep on having to change locations because we were
- 25:23Speaker 6: going to go up to the mountains, and then we
- 25:26Speaker 6: realized that, well, apparently there's like so there's all these
- 25:30Speaker 6: like regulations and shit for Wyoming because it's so because
- 25:32Speaker 6: the fires, it's so dry out there, so apparently you
- 25:36Speaker 6: can't have a campfire in Wyoming above ninety two hundred feet, right,
- 25:39Speaker 6: And the hike that we were going to do was
- 25:41Speaker 6: the entire thing was above ninety two hundred feet.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I was gonna say, are you gonna bring an altimeter?
- 25:46Speaker 3: What's that It tells you how high up you are? Oh?
- 25:49Speaker 6: No, it just says on all trails, like it starts
- 25:51Speaker 6: at like nine thousand, five hundred wow. And then it
- 25:53Speaker 6: goes up to like twelve thousand, so we wouldn't have been.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Able to do a fire. Well, no, it doesn't, yeah
- 25:58Speaker 3: it does. Twelve thousand.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Yeah, Okay, why is that crazy?
- 26:05Speaker 9: Because you're not going to go up that high that's snow,
- 26:10Speaker 9: I think, yeah, where it's what we're not going anymore.
- 26:16Speaker 9: You originally had planned to be camping at twelve thousand.
- 26:19Speaker 9: Twelve thousand feet is the tops of like Veil Mountain
- 26:24Speaker 9: and yeah, places like that.
- 26:27Speaker 6: I've gone on a hikes that high before though.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe you're right in the summer, I guess it's
- 26:30Speaker 3: not snow.
- 26:31Speaker 6: Twelve thousand's high, but it's not like like fourteen thousand
- 26:34Speaker 6: is where you're like really high. Yeah, that's crazy, but
- 26:38Speaker 6: twelve thousands high? What's the highest you've ever been in
- 26:40Speaker 6: your life? Twelve thousand?
- 26:41Speaker 3: You've been to twelve thousand, Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 6: But I've been to twelve thousand. I went to twelve
- 26:48Speaker 6: thousand on tell your Ride, so I guess it was skiing.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but I've been to no though one.
- 26:55Speaker 6: I did one in Wyoming that was probably close to
- 26:58Speaker 6: twelve thousand. It might have been more towards eleven thousand,
- 27:00Speaker 6: but that was fine. Like that was like we we
- 27:02Speaker 6: went swimming in that it was fucking freezing.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I've done some glacial swims.
- 27:07Speaker 6: It's sick.
- 27:10Speaker 9: As it gets. Yeah, does feel pretty, it's chilly. I
- 27:13Speaker 9: was in the French Alps and I did that. Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 9: it's hiked up the steepest thing I've ever hiked, and
- 27:18Speaker 9: then hiked down to a basin and swim.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 6: That the That's why we wanted to go fishing at
- 27:25Speaker 6: an alpine lake because you can you're just site fishing.
- 27:27Speaker 6: You can just see the fish everywhere.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 27:29Speaker 6: But yeah, we decided it's going to be too cold
- 27:32Speaker 6: at this time of year. You got to go in
- 27:33Speaker 6: like August.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Can you tell me a little bit about surf casting.
- 27:38Speaker 6: No, I don't know anything about it. What is surf casting?
- 27:40Speaker 3: I don't. I'd never heard of it either.
- 27:41Speaker 6: What is it just casting on the shore?
- 27:43Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess I guess you're casting over
- 27:46Speaker 3: the wave break.
- 27:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that's I think it's just casting from
- 27:49Speaker 6: the show.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Someone was telling me about it.
- 27:51Speaker 6: I don't. I haven't really done saltwater fishing outside of
- 27:54Speaker 6: with you in a while.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't know.
- 27:58Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I know the term Are you eating a lot of
- 28:01Speaker 3: fish these days?
- 28:03Speaker 6: No, So that's like another thing. It's like, like, so
- 28:06Speaker 6: we the plan was to do we were gonna go
- 28:09Speaker 6: to this one river in Wyoming. That's that's that my
- 28:12Speaker 6: buddy knows about. It's really good. And we were then
- 28:14Speaker 6: we were gonna go up to elk or not to
- 28:19Speaker 6: Cloud Wilder, Cloud Peak Wilderness, that's what it's called. And
- 28:22Speaker 6: then I emailed them. I emailed their like conservation office,
- 28:25Speaker 6: and I was like, what's to do with the fires?
- 28:27Speaker 6: And instead of just I just wanted someone to tell
- 28:30Speaker 6: me that you can do a fire, because all these
- 28:32Speaker 6: lists online are like here's what you can't do. They
- 28:34Speaker 6: don't tell you what you can do. They just tell
- 28:36Speaker 6: you what you can't do. So then you just got
- 28:38Speaker 6: to go buy like elimination, Like okay, so I guess
- 28:40Speaker 6: we can't do that, we can't do this, Maybe we
- 28:43Speaker 6: can do this. And then I emailed them and they
- 28:46Speaker 6: just sent me the exact same list that was online
- 28:48Speaker 6: and they were like, oh, by the way, there's also
- 28:49Speaker 6: food storage regulations right now too for bear for bears.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so then we would.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Have to bring a bear box which is heavy and
- 28:58Speaker 6: put all of your food into a bear box, which
- 29:00Speaker 6: then that takes up like not because like you can
- 29:02Speaker 6: bring food and it's not going to take up a
- 29:04Speaker 6: ton of space in your back because you're just squishing
- 29:06Speaker 6: it into random places. Then if you have in this
- 29:08Speaker 6: massive box, it's going to take up half your backpack.
- 29:12Speaker 6: So it was just like, all right, we can't. This
- 29:13Speaker 6: is not going to be enjoyable. We can't do this. Also,
- 29:16Speaker 6: like half the fun of it is sitting at a
- 29:18Speaker 6: fire at night.
- 29:19Speaker 3: That's the best party, that's the whole point.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Yeah, so we're like, we're not gonna all huddle around
- 29:23Speaker 6: a fucking propane stove at night. No, No, with like
- 29:27Speaker 6: head lamps on, Like that sucks. So now we're just
- 29:31Speaker 6: doing We're just going to do fish rivers all week.
- 29:34Speaker 6: Oh perhaps some creeks. No, no hiking at all, No,
- 29:38Speaker 6: which I'm absolutely fine with.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're still sleeping outside.
- 29:42Speaker 6: We're still sleeping outside our camping every night.
- 29:44Speaker 3: And you'll be able to do your fires. Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 6: But I'm like, dude, the whole entire trip, I've been
- 29:49Speaker 6: like planning the trip, I've been like I want to
- 29:51Speaker 6: fish all day, yeah, and now we're going to be
- 29:53Speaker 6: doing that.
- 29:54Speaker 3: It's you Peters Bo, Yeah, that's it. Is there any
- 29:59Speaker 3: chance I could come? And I'm being.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Serious honestly, Yeah, if you wanted to.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It would be like.
- 30:10Speaker 6: The thing that sucks about that is that. The thing
- 30:17Speaker 6: that sucks about stuff like that, though, is that because
- 30:19Speaker 6: then there's one person on the trip who's not as
- 30:20Speaker 6: good as fishing and everyone else and then we have
- 30:22Speaker 6: to like tie on your flies, right.
- 30:25Speaker 3: And I don't want to do that to the group.
- 30:26Speaker 9: And also knowing you know, I'm a quick study, so
- 30:30Speaker 9: I would pick it up so fast that it would
- 30:34Speaker 9: be me and Bow leaving the pack down. Peter's a
- 30:36Speaker 9: little behind us, and all of a sudden it's you
- 30:40Speaker 9: at the bottom and we're tying your flies and we're
- 30:45Speaker 9: quietly talking, like you.
- 30:47Speaker 6: Know, it is kind of a it's kind of like
- 30:50Speaker 6: a demasculating feeling having someone else tie on your It's
- 30:53Speaker 6: like having like it's like when I played hockey, and
- 30:56Speaker 6: there'd always be like one kid who was a little
- 30:58Speaker 6: too old to have his dad be in the locker
- 30:59Speaker 6: room tying his skates on for him. He'd be like,
- 31:02Speaker 6: you're strong enough to be able to tie your skates
- 31:05Speaker 6: like everyone else. They learn you learned like I think
- 31:07Speaker 6: like probably like fourth grade is probably like the barrier
- 31:12Speaker 6: where it's like the parents stop coming in the locker room.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Now we talk about guy stuff, grabbing pussy and whatnot,
- 31:19Speaker 6: and and it would be weird because then there would
- 31:24Speaker 6: be like one kid who he'd like, like the coach
- 31:25Speaker 6: would be like giving us the pregame talk, and then
- 31:28Speaker 6: the dad would be like standing outside of the locker
- 31:30Speaker 6: room and the kid would just be sitting there with
- 31:31Speaker 6: his skates untied, and then we'd all have to wait
- 31:33Speaker 6: while the dad comes in. All right, guys, enough about
- 31:35Speaker 6: the pussy talk. This guy's coming in to tie his
- 31:37Speaker 6: skates coincidentally would usually be like the best player on
- 31:41Speaker 6: the team. He'd be like because his dad had like
- 31:44Speaker 6: a certain way that he tied the skates. I remember
- 31:48Speaker 6: one the one game my dad decided to my dad
- 31:50Speaker 6: like read something online and was like, I'm gonna tie
- 31:52Speaker 6: your skates pretty loose today. Is like apparently it's better
- 31:55Speaker 6: for your ankles or some shit. Could literally couldn't couldn't
- 31:59Speaker 6: skate at all.
- 32:00Speaker 9: I don't understand when I try to skate. I guess
- 32:04Speaker 9: you just get used to it. But the skates feel
- 32:08Speaker 9: so weird to me. I feel like I'm just wobbling around.
- 32:12Speaker 9: They don't feel tight to my foot, they don't think
- 32:16Speaker 9: and maybe I'm wearing ones that are too big or not.
- 32:18Speaker 3: You like rentals?
- 32:20Speaker 6: You ever get your actual own skates?
- 32:22Speaker 7: No?
- 32:22Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't deserve them.
- 32:24Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's why, because when you have your actual
- 32:27Speaker 6: skates that are like fit perfectly to your feet, oh,
- 32:30Speaker 6: it just feels like you're wearing shoes when to.
- 32:32Speaker 9: Hear crazy story. Sure hockey was big where I grew up. Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 9: Maine Main was huge. Actually, Paul Korea went to the
- 32:38Speaker 9: University of Maine. They had a national championship contending, if
- 32:43Speaker 9: not winning program when I was in middle school. Yeah,
- 32:48Speaker 9: they went to the Frozen Four. And I think they
- 32:50Speaker 9: actually went to the national championship.
- 32:54Speaker 6: What college University of Maine? Oh really, yeah they know
- 32:57Speaker 6: University of Main competed in the Frozen Four.
- 33:00Speaker 9: Yeah, the Black Bears. Yeah. It's up in or And No.
- 33:03Speaker 9: Probably one of the worst places to go to college
- 33:06Speaker 9: in America. Why it is so far away in the
- 33:10Speaker 9: middle of fucking nowhere. There's nothing for me.
- 33:14Speaker 6: I know a couple people that go to University of Man.
- 33:16Speaker 6: They love it.
- 33:16Speaker 9: I think people like it. Yeah, but you're not. I
- 33:19Speaker 9: mean getting back to school from wherever you live. I
- 33:23Speaker 9: think it's a lot of people from Maine who go there.
- 33:26Speaker 6: That's where a beer dye was invented. Really a University
- 33:30Speaker 6: of Maine.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 33:32Speaker 6: I believe so. Yeah. And interesting that's my friend that
- 33:36Speaker 6: went to University of Maine. A lot about it.
- 33:38Speaker 9: Interesting. Well, anyway, they do have good colors. I like
- 33:42Speaker 9: the colors, the light blue and the Navy and all that.
- 33:47Speaker 9: So they is that true?
- 33:49Speaker 2: On?
- 33:50Speaker 3: Wow? Yeah? Wow? Interesting fun fact? All right, what are
- 33:57Speaker 3: we talking about? Hockey?
- 33:58Speaker 6: Hockey?
- 34:00Speaker 9: I grew up in Freeport, Maine, and I had two
- 34:03Speaker 9: very I had a very very probably my closest friend
- 34:05Speaker 9: in middle school, who was a very good hockey player. Yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 9: and played you know, mites or yuck yuck Yeahewe's hippins
- 34:15Speaker 9: or whatever the fuck you guys called it.
- 34:16Speaker 6: Middle school was probably Peewe's Pewey's yeah you go. And
- 34:21Speaker 6: then I had another very good friend who was also
- 34:24Speaker 6: hockey player, went to a different school and he anyway,
- 34:29Speaker 6: I'm not going to give too many details because the
- 34:31Speaker 6: story gets weird. So I guess they were playing in
- 34:34Speaker 6: a travel hockey game. Against each other and the game
- 34:37Speaker 6: that one team is losing by like three goals or something.
- 34:40Speaker 6: So the game's over and one of my buddies, my
- 34:42Speaker 6: my best friend, is sort of skating around and you know,
- 34:47Speaker 6: killing the last couple of seconds on the clock. And
- 34:50Speaker 6: then my other friend and they were not friends, yeah,
- 34:53Speaker 6: came up and I guess hit him pretty dirty. Yeah,
- 34:57Speaker 6: last second of the game and decked him. Yeah, crosscheck
- 35:01Speaker 6: to the neck whatever, peeweez doo.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I don't know pewe's I don't know what it was.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I wasn't there, but.
- 35:10Speaker 9: Everyone's screaming, oh, bro about you know, game ends. My
- 35:16Speaker 9: best friend's dad, very respected member of Maine society, is
- 35:25Speaker 9: so angry at this that he went into the opposing
- 35:30Speaker 9: team's locker room damn with a hockey stick and brandished
- 35:35Speaker 9: it at my other friend and screamed at him and
- 35:39Speaker 9: was like shaking the stick. That family of my other
- 35:47Speaker 9: friend sued my best friend's family, and it became sort
- 35:52Speaker 9: of a high profile case.
- 35:54Speaker 6: Yeah I'm sure, and they claimed, you know, emotional damage
- 35:59Speaker 6: and psych logical harm and he'd been never been the
- 36:02Speaker 6: same ever since this incident. All that, and then ultimately
- 36:07Speaker 6: the case the judge or whatever was like, these claims.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Are completely baseless.
- 36:14Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, and then they saw the parents saw
- 36:20Speaker 9: each other at a high school game and started like
- 36:25Speaker 9: getting into a fight there. Really, and I think someone
- 36:29Speaker 9: I hope people might be able to figure out this story,
- 36:33Speaker 9: so I don't want to. I don't even really care
- 36:35Speaker 9: with public knowledge. But the point is I was friends
- 36:38Speaker 9: with both of these guys.
- 36:39Speaker 6: No one is going to be able to find this story.
- 36:41Speaker 3: It's old.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that will.
- 36:44Speaker 9: I think one of the we used to one of
- 36:47Speaker 9: the schools I went to. The there was a big
- 36:49Speaker 9: hill that went down to the sort of soccer field
- 36:53Speaker 9: football field, and that's where people would sit yeh. And
- 36:58Speaker 9: at that game, my friend's dad went to mock the
- 37:05Speaker 9: other family for losing the case. Yeah, and was like
- 37:08Speaker 9: this guy is here to sue everybody, and his other.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Son pushed him down the hill.
- 37:15Speaker 6: Damn.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think that's right.
- 37:17Speaker 6: That's crazy. We had a hill like that too, yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 6: but for football, yeah yeah, and I remember that's why
- 37:23Speaker 6: people would like go do drugs on the hill.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Oh really, like.
- 37:27Speaker 9: People at our football games, people would like wear Viking
- 37:30Speaker 9: helmets and then like get to bring a sled and
- 37:32Speaker 9: they led down the hill.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Well, I guess you, guys, there's probably snowy all the time.
- 37:36Speaker 3: No, no, this was in the football season in the fall.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Oh, I guess y, I probably know snow not yet,
- 37:41Speaker 6: not yet soon.
- 37:44Speaker 3: The point is.
- 37:46Speaker 9: I never could commentate on this. It was one of
- 37:49Speaker 9: those things that I was friends with both guys. Yeah,
- 37:52Speaker 9: both better friends with one of them. Yeah, and uh,
- 37:56Speaker 9: super weird, super uncomfortable. Yeah, it's pretty uncomfortable, crazy, right. Yeah,
- 38:00Speaker 9: I'm trying to think if we haven't get.
- 38:02Speaker 6: Any like big sports scandals like that, not really, because
- 38:06Speaker 6: I don't. My town was very like you knew who
- 38:09Speaker 6: you knew in your town. You didn't know people in
- 38:11Speaker 6: other towns. Really, Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:15Speaker 9: A lot of your towns were big Maine, I knew
- 38:19Speaker 9: you knew everybody within two towns.
- 38:22Speaker 6: Yeah, we didn't know. I didn't know. But also, my
- 38:24Speaker 6: town's not big. It's sixteen thousand people.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Is that big?
- 38:29Speaker 9: That seems pretty good size. I don't Can you look
- 38:31Speaker 9: up the population of of Yarmouth, Maine.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I didn't know. I I it's probably grown a
- 38:43Speaker 6: lot over the eight thousand, so half the size of yours.
- 38:49Speaker 6: And that's grown eight thousand. Yeah, it's pretty small.
- 38:52Speaker 3: That was like one of the more medium sized towns
- 38:55Speaker 3: in Maine. Yeah, so they would always it was class A, B,
- 38:58Speaker 3: C D based on the size of your school. Yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 3: we were class B. Class A was the biggest.
- 39:04Speaker 6: Interesting. Yeah, yeah, that was like a foreign concept. Like
- 39:09Speaker 6: we didn't. I don't know anybody from the town's outside
- 39:12Speaker 6: of my town. I never did.
- 39:14Speaker 9: I proved to be not cool enough to date the
- 39:19Speaker 9: girls at my own high school, so I just started
- 39:21Speaker 9: dating girls at other high schools. Yeah, because I could
- 39:24Speaker 9: come in. I made a good first impression. Yeah, but
- 39:27Speaker 9: when people got to know me, they were like this
- 39:29Speaker 9: guy sucks. Yeah, he listens to really weird music. Yeah,
- 39:34Speaker 9: or sings in an a cappella group. Does theater might
- 39:36Speaker 9: be gay?
- 39:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:38Speaker 6: Yeah, like I don't not even no one from none
- 39:41Speaker 6: of my friends dated anyone outside of our town. Nothing.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Wow, you guys are real small tower home town. Very Yeah,
- 39:48Speaker 3: that's crazy. There were such cute girls at other schools.
- 39:51Speaker 6: You didn't. You never wanted to go fishing in the stream,
- 39:54Speaker 6: never saw them ever.
- 39:56Speaker 9: Never even saw them. You never went to like a
- 39:58Speaker 9: rival high school's dance. Now, you know, shake the old
- 40:03Speaker 9: leg behind enemy lines. Never guys that you have to
- 40:06Speaker 9: used to gear up and go to war against in
- 40:08Speaker 9: a big game under their lights. Now all of a
- 40:10Speaker 9: sudden you're dancing, you know, jigging it up with their girls.
- 40:13Speaker 6: And no, never, once, no, never. Multi town parties, multibe
- 40:19Speaker 6: I just wasn't invited to those ones. But no, never, No,
- 40:22Speaker 6: I genuinely can't think of a single person who lived
- 40:26Speaker 6: outside of my town.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Did you go to parties in high school?
- 40:29Speaker 6: Not really, like maybe a couple. I think I did,
- 40:33Speaker 6: like a little bit junior year of high school, and
- 40:37Speaker 6: then senior years when we started getting uninvited from parties
- 40:43Speaker 6: are very strange. It was like the opposite like usually
- 40:46Speaker 6: people it's like they don't get invited to parties like
- 40:48Speaker 6: for the first couple of years of high school, and
- 40:50Speaker 6: then like their later years, you had to be invited.
- 40:53Speaker 3: It wasn't just free for all house.
- 40:55Speaker 6: No, there's like vivid memories of like us like texting
- 40:58Speaker 6: people be like hey could we come and they're like, nah, yeah,
- 41:03Speaker 6: I had that too with my buddies. So you mind
- 41:05Speaker 6: if we come through? Yeah?
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, dude, I'm gonna here's why.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Not even a reason why. I just like, no, this
- 41:10Speaker 6: is a great point.
- 41:11Speaker 9: I'm really glad you brought this up, because I'm going
- 41:14Speaker 9: to resolve another beef here and this one, this one
- 41:16Speaker 9: is my own. So I had a party my sophomore year.
- 41:19Speaker 9: My parents were out of town, and so I had
- 41:22Speaker 9: just gone to a new school. I went to Yarmou
- 41:23Speaker 9: High School. I just switched there from Chevro's. Yeah, and uh,
- 41:28Speaker 9: I was the new kid, and I was friends with
- 41:30Speaker 9: a lot of the seniors because I had made the
- 41:32Speaker 9: soccer team and they were they were took a shine
- 41:35Speaker 9: to me. I was friends with all the older kids.
- 41:37Speaker 9: I thought I was cool. That wore off quick.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 9: But in the first couple of weeks of my sophomore year,
- 41:42Speaker 9: in the fall soccer season, life was good. I was
- 41:45Speaker 9: riding high people trying to figure out what to do
- 41:47Speaker 9: for the weekend.
- 41:48Speaker 3: I'm like, well, my parents are out. Yeah. Whoops, yeah, whoops.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:53Speaker 9: That starts getting around and you know, people are coming,
- 41:58Speaker 9: and uh, it's starting to get a little out of
- 42:03Speaker 9: my control. Like, you know, people are just whatever, They're
- 42:07Speaker 9: just spilling beers. It's like immediately, the idea of getting
- 42:12Speaker 9: away with this where my parents aren't going to find out,
- 42:15Speaker 9: seems like it's getting farther.
- 42:18Speaker 6: And farther away. But this kid showed up, Kevin. His
- 42:22Speaker 6: name was Kevin. I can't remember his last name. If
- 42:24Speaker 6: I knew what, i'd say it because fuck this kid.
- 42:27Speaker 6: And he was a year older than me. He hadn't
- 42:30Speaker 6: been invited. I didn't know him. And he shows up
- 42:33Speaker 6: and he rings the doorbell. He's got a case of
- 42:36Speaker 6: beer and he's like, can I come in? And I
- 42:39Speaker 6: was like, dude, I'm sorry, but like this is already
- 42:42Speaker 6: way more than I can handle, Like I'm terrified right now,
- 42:48Speaker 6: I'm full or whatever. And then he just like went
- 42:51Speaker 6: and sat in his car and drank with another guy
- 42:54Speaker 6: named Rob. And then other people who were inside the
- 42:59Speaker 6: party kept coming to me and being like, dude, Kevin's
- 43:02Speaker 6: a good guy. Yeah, he's just sitting outside like he's
- 43:05Speaker 6: sure he can't, like he's sure he can't let him in.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Finally I was like, all right, fuck it, whatever, yeah, fine,
- 43:11Speaker 6: let him in. So he comes in. Thanks me, fuck it,
- 43:14Speaker 6: get Kevin in here. The year goes by, Kevin has
- 43:17Speaker 6: a party. Oh yeah, this is always a problem in
- 43:21Speaker 6: high school.
- 43:21Speaker 9: And I text them, yeah, hey, man, can I come?
- 43:26Speaker 9: And he's like, sorry, man, no, and it's like, dude,
- 43:31Speaker 9: whatever happened short memory on you?
- 43:34Speaker 3: Kevin? Yeah, you fucking dick. Yeah.
- 43:36Speaker 9: He was the goalie on the hockey team. Ah yeah,
- 43:39Speaker 9: and he had a hot younger sister. But I couldn't
- 43:45Speaker 9: she wasn't interested in me because that would have been
- 43:47Speaker 9: a good way to get revenge.
- 43:49Speaker 6: Fuck his sister.
- 43:50Speaker 9: Sure, I mean that I was thinking make out with her.
- 43:53Speaker 9: But if you want to go there, you know that's fine.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Fuck. What was his name, Kevin something mum?
- 44:03Speaker 9: Anyway, you know what gives me peace is that I
- 44:07Speaker 9: think that a lot of those people are living pretty
- 44:10Speaker 9: shitty lives right now. Yeah, not all of them, but
- 44:15Speaker 9: some of them. I like to think that Kevin is
- 44:17Speaker 9: washing dishes at the Do.
- 44:19Speaker 6: You think he still lives in Maine?
- 44:20Speaker 3: Probably? Yeah.
- 44:22Speaker 6: A lot of people move something I've noticed many tried
- 44:26Speaker 6: and then they came back. But also because it means
- 44:28Speaker 6: it's just a great place to live. It is a
- 44:31Speaker 6: nice place. I'd like to go up to Maine. There's
- 44:35Speaker 6: really good fishing up there. We would do some good
- 44:37Speaker 6: fishing up in Maine, pow. We really would.
- 44:39Speaker 9: In fact, a fan DMed me fan of this show
- 44:43Speaker 9: and was like, hey, next time you're up in Maine.
- 44:44Speaker 3: I run a brewery like up.
- 44:46Speaker 9: North, and we have boats and if you guys ever
- 44:49Speaker 9: want to do some salmon fishing, oh, I'll take you
- 44:53Speaker 9: out gear you up.
- 44:55Speaker 6: I would be sick. Salmon fishing will be sick.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 6: What's the deal with salmon? How long do salmon live?
- 44:59Speaker 6: They live very short lives, right, Is that so I
- 45:02Speaker 6: think they live? I don't know what there. I know
- 45:05Speaker 6: some salmon like die at the end of the season.
- 45:09Speaker 9: Yeah, there's Uh, there's the thing about salmon, and you
- 45:13Speaker 9: probably don't know this one to three years.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 9: The thing about salmon is that they there's all kinds
- 45:17Speaker 9: of different salmon.
- 45:18Speaker 6: I know that.
- 45:19Speaker 3: So there's salmon. There's freshwater salmon. There's saltwater salmon. Yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 3: How did you know that? I did. There's coho. Yeah,
- 45:27Speaker 3: there's sake. Yeah.
- 45:29Speaker 9: Uh, there's king Aura Ura king might be another one. Ye,
- 45:37Speaker 9: all of these are salmon. Yeah, there's a ton of salmon.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:40Speaker 6: I think there's silver silver backed salmon. Perhaps, No, there's
- 45:44Speaker 6: a gorilla's silver. There's definitely a silver salmon. Well, I
- 45:48Speaker 6: think they're all pretty silver.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Hey, what's going on there? Pal We saw you the
- 45:52Speaker 3: hockey game market.
- 45:52Speaker 6: So I know you guys.
- 45:53Speaker 7: I'm Ryan Whitney.
- 45:54Speaker 3: I got a drink named after me. I think Whitney.
- 45:58Speaker 1: That's what I thought, Fellas.
- 46:00Speaker 6: I invented the thing you pigeoned Pink Whitney for legendary
- 46:04Speaker 6: moments the show.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Co Ho co Hoo, I already said that one. I
- 46:09Speaker 3: think that's what I think.
- 46:10Speaker 6: Sometimes people will refer to as coh as silver No no, no, yeah,
- 46:13Speaker 6: I can see how it says coho and then in
- 46:15Speaker 6: parentheses silver salmon.
- 46:16Speaker 9: That's just to make sure people know exactly which one
- 46:19Speaker 9: they're talking about. That's like, you know, if you're telling
- 46:22Speaker 9: you a child like you can also call out a
- 46:24Speaker 9: silver to a child to let them know.
- 46:26Speaker 6: King salmon are sick. King salmon get huge the best.
- 46:29Speaker 6: But apparently from I've heard from some other anglers up
- 46:32Speaker 6: up north in the Upper two that uh that the
- 46:38Speaker 6: king salmon population is declining.
- 46:40Speaker 9: Yeah, I think we overfished, yeah a little bit. But
- 46:43Speaker 9: someone was also telling me that if you get out
- 46:45Speaker 9: to Alaska the right time of year, you throw a
- 46:48Speaker 9: line in the water, it is a frenzy. Yeah, you
- 46:53Speaker 9: can't catch too many.
- 46:55Speaker 6: I heard one of my agents was telling me that
- 46:58Speaker 6: there was a comedian who was supposed to do a
- 47:01Speaker 6: show and Anchorage and he didn't realize that the show
- 47:04Speaker 6: was booked for opening day of salmon fishing season in
- 47:07Speaker 6: Alaska and he had to move the show.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Oh my god, Yeah, it's that big of a deal. Huh.
- 47:11Speaker 6: Yeah, that's so sick.
- 47:13Speaker 3: That's like.
- 47:13Speaker 6: But that's also I don't think Anchorage. I think Anchorage, like,
- 47:17Speaker 6: I think that part of Alaska has like decent, like
- 47:20Speaker 6: obviously compared to the Lower forty eight, it has like
- 47:23Speaker 6: unbelievable fishing. But I think when you get north of
- 47:26Speaker 6: not but because that like that around Anchorage, that area
- 47:29Speaker 6: that's where you see those videos of people where it's
- 47:31Speaker 6: like ten.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Thousands walk across the water pretty much.
- 47:35Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's like the ones where it's like there's like, oh,
- 47:37Speaker 6: there's like thousands of people all fishing the exact and
- 47:40Speaker 6: they're not even like fishing. They're just trying to like
- 47:42Speaker 6: snag a fish. So they're just taking the line and
- 47:44Speaker 6: just going and then ripping it out, just doing that
- 47:46Speaker 6: for hour, and it's like people wearing like jeans and
- 47:49Speaker 6: they're like three hundred pounds, disgusting, disgusting, just wearing their
- 47:57Speaker 6: slacks and loafers, knee deep in the wall.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, damn, Well, I don't know. I think it'd
- 48:06Speaker 3: be fun to do a little bit of a fishing
- 48:07Speaker 3: trip with you. I'm not gonna call Alaska. I love
- 48:10Speaker 3: to go to I appreciate the the invite to Wyoming, but.
- 48:14Speaker 6: An invite, I don't think it was more just like
- 48:16Speaker 6: we wouldn't decline. No, I know, if you were like
- 48:19Speaker 6: I bought the ticket, I wouldn't be like.
- 48:20Speaker 9: Well, well, just I mean for you, for you to
- 48:24Speaker 9: tell me there's a spot for me, I feel bad
- 48:27Speaker 9: saying I can't make it.
- 48:28Speaker 6: So the problem is like we already got the three
- 48:30Speaker 6: person tent and you're like two people alone. So because
- 48:38Speaker 6: sometimes we'll get a two person tent and we'll just
- 48:40Speaker 6: sleep horizontal. We'll sleep like perpendicular to the way that
- 48:43Speaker 6: you're supposed to.
- 48:45Speaker 3: What perpendicular? Well sarallel?
- 48:49Speaker 6: No, perpendicular.
- 48:51Speaker 9: You're not going to sleep at a tea in a tent.
- 48:53Speaker 9: That's crazy. What are you talking about?
- 48:55Speaker 6: Well, I would think parallel would be sleeping the long way,
- 48:58Speaker 6: so we'll sleep the short way.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Well, the short way of sleeping in a tent is
- 49:02Speaker 3: to scrunch your knees up and sleep on your side.
- 49:04Speaker 6: See, but that that's what I'm saying, is that you
- 49:06Speaker 6: would have to do that. We just sleep normal because
- 49:09Speaker 6: we can still fit the LN.
- 49:10Speaker 9: Or I get a fucking another three person tent and
- 49:15Speaker 9: Bo and Peters by night too are crashing with me
- 49:19Speaker 9: because the vibes are way higher and we both know
- 49:23Speaker 9: that's what would happen, and you'd fucking hate me. And
- 49:25Speaker 9: there goes the chemistry from the podcast.
- 49:27Speaker 6: Sleeping in a tent is awful, and we've already made
- 49:30Speaker 6: the We've already made the We had to make a
- 49:33Speaker 6: pact and be like, we have to sleep in the
- 49:35Speaker 6: tent every time. Really, because when we went to Iceland,
- 49:38Speaker 6: the plan was to sleep in a tent every night.
- 49:39Speaker 6: We slept in a tent for one night and then
- 49:41Speaker 6: we got a hotel every single night, remember, and I
- 49:44Speaker 6: was like, I can't spend more money on this trip.
- 49:46Speaker 6: We're getting the tent. We're not sleeping in a hotel.
- 49:49Speaker 9: You do get used to it. If you push yourself
- 49:51Speaker 9: hard enough during the day and you have you get
- 49:54Speaker 9: to a point of sleep deprivation.
- 49:57Speaker 3: I do believe you can kind of.
- 49:58Speaker 6: Oh yeah, you can, definitely you can definitely sleep. If
- 50:00Speaker 6: you have a good sleeping pad, you can sleep easily.
- 50:03Speaker 6: The problem is when we went to Colorado in September,
- 50:06Speaker 6: we I don't know why I decided that I was
- 50:09Speaker 6: gonna try, and like I was like, that's the thing
- 50:10Speaker 6: with these trips is a lot of times you just
- 50:12Speaker 6: brush shit off. You're like, oh, well, we're not gonna
- 50:15Speaker 6: need that. You'll figure that out. So for some reason
- 50:18Speaker 6: I decided to cheap out on We rented sleeping stuff
- 50:23Speaker 6: and they were like sleeping pad and I was like, no,
- 50:25Speaker 6: we don't need a sleeping pad. Sleeping on the ground, dude.
- 50:29Speaker 6: I slept with a fucking boulder wedged into my spine
- 50:34Speaker 6: the entire night. It was the worst night of sleep.
- 50:38Speaker 6: It's like, now I'm like, oh, I'd rather just sleep
- 50:40Speaker 6: in my clothes with a sleeping pad. I'd rather not
- 50:42Speaker 6: have a sleeping bag than not have a sleeping pad.
- 50:46Speaker 9: I remember, you ever hear you hear stories about people
- 50:49Speaker 9: sleeping in their car? Yeah, have you ever slept in
- 50:51Speaker 9: your car? Now, I've slept in my car and I'm
- 50:55Speaker 9: talking like the front seat. I didn't put the seats
- 50:59Speaker 9: down and put a mattress in the Yeah. I slept
- 51:03Speaker 9: in my car the way you would if you were
- 51:05Speaker 9: sitting in the passenger seat and someone else was drying,
- 51:09Speaker 9: and it was awful.
- 51:12Speaker 6: It's unbelievable.
- 51:13Speaker 9: But those people who are homeless who end up sleeping
- 51:17Speaker 9: in their car and doing a sponge bath in the
- 51:20Speaker 9: seven to eleven bathroom with the gigantic key.
- 51:23Speaker 6: Planet Fitness, they all they are they get fitness memberships.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 6: I think if you go to Planet Fitness long enough,
- 51:29Speaker 6: eventually you'll see like a pack of homeless people wandering
- 51:32Speaker 6: and scan their cards. They're all members.
- 51:33Speaker 3: They're all still jacks.
- 51:35Speaker 6: They're like, what's this all about? And then they all
- 51:37Speaker 6: scan in and you're like, fuck, they can't even tell
- 51:40Speaker 6: them to leave.
- 51:45Speaker 9: So uh, my point being though, that those people who
- 51:49Speaker 9: sleep in their car night after night, the fact that
- 51:53Speaker 9: they're probably not sleeping as badly as I did, because
- 51:58Speaker 9: being homeless is very tired. Yeah, and they can you know, dude.
- 52:03Speaker 6: Those guys can probably go down for twenty hours no problem,
- 52:06Speaker 6: every day.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:07Speaker 9: Barghatsi has that great bit, oh really from a long
- 52:10Speaker 9: time ago, by how he's jealous of like the homeless
- 52:12Speaker 9: people sleeping on the sidewalks and oh yeah, and he's like,
- 52:15Speaker 9: this guy's in bed, he's like a sleep.
- 52:17Speaker 3: At eight thirty pm. Yeah, he's going to get a
- 52:20Speaker 3: good nine and a half hours. Yeah. Yeah, Like I
- 52:22Speaker 3: wish I could. I wish I could have my life
- 52:25Speaker 3: together like that. Dude.
- 52:26Speaker 6: If you get if you're if you give a homeless
- 52:27Speaker 6: person like a like a temp repedic mattress, they could
- 52:31Speaker 6: probably sleep for like a week straight.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, they're like French bulldogs.
- 52:39Speaker 6: The reason that the main reason, so the so he
- 52:43Speaker 6: switched the trip away from the mountain. We're not hiking
- 52:45Speaker 6: the mountain. Yeah, I'm bummed about that. I'm not afward
- 52:47Speaker 6: to that for us, I'm not bummed. But the main
- 52:50Speaker 6: reason was that I went on All Trails Pro membership
- 52:53Speaker 6: of course. Yeah, and they tell you the weather, and
- 52:56Speaker 6: they tell you the weather on the mountain and I
- 52:58Speaker 6: was looking at it and I was like, oh, the
- 52:59Speaker 6: place that we're hig it says it's going to be
- 53:00Speaker 6: twenty four degrees today. And I was like, this trip's
- 53:04Speaker 6: two weeks out. If it's twenty four degrees today, that
- 53:06Speaker 6: means that. I mean obviously that was like an it
- 53:08Speaker 6: was like an unnormal day that was not that was
- 53:10Speaker 6: not an average day, but abnormal. But it was like
- 53:14Speaker 6: that means that it could still get into like the
- 53:16Speaker 6: thirties and forties while we're out there, it will get.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Into the night. Yeah, freezing.
- 53:21Speaker 6: And of course no one believes me because it's just
- 53:24Speaker 6: every time I bring up something, it's like, dude, you're
- 53:27Speaker 6: so paranoid. You just worry it. And I'm like, well,
- 53:30Speaker 6: you just don't. You just you don't always tell the truth.
- 53:33Speaker 6: But I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it on
- 53:35Speaker 6: my fast pH But that is fact. See, this is
- 53:38Speaker 6: the exact thing. But you lose credibility. They were like,
- 53:43Speaker 6: it's not going to be that cold. I'm like, but
- 53:44Speaker 6: it is fact. Scientists are saying, this is what the
- 53:47Speaker 6: temperature is there right.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Now, listen man.
- 53:50Speaker 6: And then so Bo was like, I'm going to go
- 53:52Speaker 6: do a little test hike. I'm gonna go see how
- 53:55Speaker 6: bad it is.
- 53:56Speaker 3: So he went out to call, Oh, he's out he's
- 53:58Speaker 3: not out there. No.
- 53:58Speaker 6: He did one night. This was this was like this weekend.
- 54:01Speaker 6: So he went out to Colorado. He did a test
- 54:04Speaker 6: hike and he said he said that he thinks that
- 54:09Speaker 6: if we did the original hike that we were planning
- 54:11Speaker 6: on doing that we wouldn't be friends with him anymore
- 54:13Speaker 6: because of how miserable it would be. He said that
- 54:16Speaker 6: it was freezing and he was thunderstorming the entire time,
- 54:20Speaker 6: and he said that at one point he was praying
- 54:23Speaker 6: to God, asking asking to stop the rain.
- 54:29Speaker 3: How hard it was raining.
- 54:32Speaker 6: He said, it was like Lord of the Ring. It's
- 54:34Speaker 6: like lighting bolts are shooting down around him, and he
- 54:40Speaker 6: was like there was nothing he could do because he
- 54:42Speaker 6: couldn't it was pitch blackout. He couldn't get his ship
- 54:44Speaker 6: and leave, so he had to just like hope that
- 54:46Speaker 6: no trees fell on him. In the middle of the
- 54:48Speaker 6: night he slept out there. Yeah wow, yeah, So now
- 54:56Speaker 6: we are sticking to around seven thousand feet.
- 54:59Speaker 3: That sounds right, Yeah, that sounds like the right call.
- 55:01Speaker 3: How long are you going for.
- 55:02Speaker 6: A long time? Six six nights so seven days of fishing.
- 55:11Speaker 3: What happens if you guys get into a fight.
- 55:13Speaker 6: There will be a blowout, really, there always is, but
- 55:15Speaker 6: there will be a there will We've already made jokes
- 55:18Speaker 6: about it, like there's gonna be like a borderline tears fight.
- 55:23Speaker 6: There always is.
- 55:24Speaker 3: And what does that usually stem from.
- 55:26Speaker 6: It's never Matt's never involved. It's always me and bo
- 55:30Speaker 6: really because Matt won't Matt will take the bullshit. I
- 55:33Speaker 6: don't always all go back in Iceland. The last night
- 55:38Speaker 6: we were in Iceland, we were in a hotel lobby,
- 55:42Speaker 6: hammered and Me and Bow got into like a four
- 55:44Speaker 6: hour argument about if Hitler was a genius.
- 55:47Speaker 3: Or not nice.
- 55:48Speaker 6: And he was on the side that he was, and
- 55:51Speaker 6: I was on the side that he wasn't. Looking back
- 55:53Speaker 6: on it, he's probably right. My argument was that Hitler
- 55:58Speaker 6: is not a genius because he was a genius, wouldn't
- 56:00Speaker 6: have killed six million Jews. And his thing was, well,
- 56:04Speaker 6: to get into the position that he was in so easily,
- 56:08Speaker 6: you have to be a genius.
- 56:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that they're right. I've I've had I've
- 56:12Speaker 3: heard that argument. Yeah, I don't.
- 56:15Speaker 9: I'm a little confused about And this is going to
- 56:19Speaker 9: sound insane. Why what's the correlation between his genocide of
- 56:25Speaker 9: the Jews and his intelligence?
- 56:29Speaker 6: My thing was that if he was so smart, then
- 56:30Speaker 6: he wouldn't have killed all those people, because it's not
- 56:32Speaker 6: a smart thing to do.
- 56:34Speaker 9: Okay, But like I don't, I don't put it along
- 56:37Speaker 9: like smart lines. I put it a that was kind
- 56:39Speaker 9: of evil or he's evil.
- 56:42Speaker 6: That was what the argument was about.
- 56:47Speaker 9: But again again, and I don't want to have this
- 56:51Speaker 9: with you too. This is not light fodder for a podcast.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Well, it's like, I don't know. I don't really care.
- 57:00Speaker 6: That's the thing. I don't care either. I'm just confused
- 57:03Speaker 6: at all. I'm confused by your point. It doesn't see
- 57:06Speaker 6: I don't know. They Yeah, it probably wasn't relevant.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Point is Hitler.
- 57:10Speaker 9: Hitler was a genius because of how he took over
- 57:14Speaker 9: a nation.
- 57:14Speaker 6: I don't even think it was that. I think he
- 57:15Speaker 6: said we were talking about something and then somehow Hitler
- 57:18Speaker 6: came up, and then he called him a genius. And
- 57:20Speaker 6: then I was like, he's not a fucking genius, he's
- 57:22Speaker 6: an idiot. And then and then it started into this,
- 57:27Speaker 6: which is just it's a never ending argument. No right answer.
- 57:30Speaker 9: It's just you're to me that argument. The two of
- 57:33Speaker 9: you are are sleeping perpendicular to each other.
- 57:35Speaker 6: Yes, so that will happen, there will be a fight.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Well, to be honest with you, that's not as bad
- 57:42Speaker 3: as what I thought. You're having.
- 57:45Speaker 9: You're having fights over weird historical No, but that was
- 57:48Speaker 9: because that trip.
- 57:50Speaker 6: Was more luxury than it was. But we're doing this
- 57:52Speaker 6: time this time, like we've gone fishing together and gotten
- 57:55Speaker 6: in big arguments like little, Like it gets to a
- 57:58Speaker 6: point on those trips with any of your friends, it
- 58:00Speaker 6: gets to a point where there's something little and you
- 58:02Speaker 6: need to keep doing it and you keep going. That's
- 58:05Speaker 6: that's getting a little annoying.
- 58:06Speaker 9: If someone keeps trying to lead and getting you in
- 58:09Speaker 9: the wrong exact or you disagree about where you should fish,
- 58:13Speaker 9: where you should camp. Someone eats all of the s'more
- 58:18Speaker 9: fixings exactly selfishly.
- 58:21Speaker 6: With Bo, the big argument that we usually one of
- 58:23Speaker 6: the arguments we get usually get into is that when
- 58:25Speaker 6: we go fishing, he likes to walk really far down
- 58:29Speaker 6: the river and then fish back towards the car, which
- 58:32Speaker 6: is smart. It's a smart thing to do. I like
- 58:35Speaker 6: to start right at the car, so I'm excited. I
- 58:38Speaker 6: want to fish right away, and I like to fish
- 58:41Speaker 6: and then work down the river and then just walk back. Sure,
- 58:44Speaker 6: because you're not fishing that far. It's like if you
- 58:46Speaker 6: end up fishing like two miles.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Listen, half a dozen in one hand, the dozen half
- 58:51Speaker 3: in the other. What's that saying six in one hand,
- 58:54Speaker 3: half a dozen in the other. That might be it.
- 58:57Speaker 6: Yeah, it sounds comming to different strokes.
- 58:58Speaker 9: For different folks. Yeah, I got no problem with either
- 59:01Speaker 9: of your His feels more efficient.
- 59:03Speaker 6: It feels more efficient. But then also then you're setting
- 59:06Speaker 6: an end point. When you're fishing down the river. There
- 59:09Speaker 6: is no end point. You're just going until you feel
- 59:11Speaker 6: like stopping. His it's like we get back.
- 59:14Speaker 9: But in theory he could keep going up the up
- 59:18Speaker 9: the river past the car.
- 59:20Speaker 6: Not really, nobody's doing that, depending on the river because
- 59:24Speaker 6: some of those rivers the access gets tight.
- 59:26Speaker 9: Okay, so you guys get into these arguments and uh
- 59:32Speaker 9: when when they unfold, and do you guys start yelling
- 59:35Speaker 9: at each other.
- 59:38Speaker 6: No, it's never like it's more like saying really mean
- 59:41Speaker 6: things at each other.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Oh really.
- 59:44Speaker 6: No, but like stuff that you'll laugh off. Like it's
- 59:48Speaker 6: like you.
- 59:49Speaker 9: Guys don't kind of retire to your separate quarters not
- 59:52Speaker 9: talk to each other for a while.
- 59:53Speaker 3: And then Peters isn't.
- 59:54Speaker 6: Like, guys, come on, No, he's the middle men.
- 59:57Speaker 9: We're all friends here. And then you come back and
- 59:59Speaker 9: you guys like apologize to each other.
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: No, it'll it'll continue. I'll be like, you're a fucking idiot.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: And you just stay angry at each other, like.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: Does not last, but it's never apologize. That's crazy. We
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: got in a big argument in Denver because I made
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: fun of him for his glass because he had glasses.
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: I didn't think it was a big deal, just just
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: a classic riff, and that was like the most angry
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: I've ever seen him. Huh Yeah, and then I apologize.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: I'm on both side here, Yeah, because I love you
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: about what what what? You don't even know what the
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: arguments are about.
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: Just in general, I tend to think that you are
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: an incredibly combative person.
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: Yeah, that's because I'm always right you just you seem
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: to enjoy You seem to enjoy it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Yeah. I like to bicker, and I like doing it
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: because it's amusing to me to Yeah, I just take
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: the other side, even though I don't actually believe necessarily
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just little ship. It's not like we don't
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: ever get in like a like an actual argument where
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: it's like you shouldn't have done that. Like it's never
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: like if if you're talking in a calm voice so
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: you don't get personal. No, that's like you guys get personal.
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: I mean maybe, but it's not. But that's not it.
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: That's not like personal.
- 1:01:27Speaker 9: What if those are, It's not like that's source of
- 1:01:30Speaker 9: insecurity for him.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe dreams of being in the air force. Well
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: he got lasick like two months later, so maybe it
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: was for the best.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Wow, you made him do that.
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: I mean, you do not get in arguments with your friends?
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: I do, I do, But are they not? Like we
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: try We try not to. Yeah, see, we don't try
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: not because it ruins the time. Like we got an
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: argument today, like we were yelling at each other the
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: over the water levels at the river that we're going.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: To being friends with you must be fucking exhausting.
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: But that was a full on like we were yelling,
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: like if we were yelling at each other.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: On the phone.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's like, no, but that's not like a
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: serious argument.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Sure, no, of course.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: Yeah, there's not really anything that I would get that
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: mad about. Now, you don't get you actually don't like
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: if we went on the hike, Like if we did
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: the hike, that would have been worse, Like I would
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: have probably started crying. Yeah, because they are and way better.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: They work out two times a day every day, like
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's great.
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not built for that. So if we
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: did that, then that would have that would have come
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: to tears.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Yeah right, I get that, because.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: Then then you start going back. Well I didn't want
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: to go on this trip to begin with. I wanted
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: to go to I wanted to go to Patagonia. Like
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: you start, you start coming up with digs from ship
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: that happened a year ago. Right, this is exactly like Iceland,
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: Like that's where it gets per all.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's tough. Yeah.
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: How far away is where you're going from a potential
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: hotel room?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Not far the place that yeah, see, No, that's where
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: the problem started was because we were looking at the
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: first place we're going. It's kind of far, but we're
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: only going there for like two days, so we're obviously
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: going to camp then. And then the second place that
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: we're going, we were looking at one of the places
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: to park the car and there was like a lodge
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: like a five hundred feet away, And then I looked
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: at the Google images of the lodge and it looks
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: so sick, and I was like, I feel like we're
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: going to end up here.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: Why don't you?
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: I mean, I don't mind that for you guys. No,
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: I don't think anyone does. But it's also we already
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: spent all the money in all this gear.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Yeah, right, you're trying to prove to yours.
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: Like at least in Iceland, it was like we rented
- 1:03:53Speaker 6: all of the shit when we got there. Yeah, so
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: it was like we didn't actually buy anything, right, so
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: we don't if we're not going to camp. Also, Iceland
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: it was raining and freezing the entire time.
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: Right, Okay, yeah, all right, well listen, I'm excited about
- 1:04:08Speaker 9: your trip. I'm excited to hear what you guys get into.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm coming back that Monday morning, so we'll record
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: that day. It'll be fresh, unreal, yeah, sick, it'll be
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: a fresh.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Is it all catch and release?
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: So the first place we're going to it's a three
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: trout limit and it's I think you can't keep anything
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: over sixteen inches. And then the second place we're going
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: to it's all kitchen release.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Cool.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: But now we're gonna have the car, so we're gonna
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: be able to just cook. We'll be able to bring
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: a cooler and just bring food and have steaks and shit.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: Put the fish on ice. Yeah, drinking some beer.
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: I'm not a huge catching I'm not a huge catch
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: and cook person.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Why not.
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: I don't know, Like if you catch like a huge trout,
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: that's like a rare trout. Don't get that big. So
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: if you catch a big trout, it kind of feels
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: like fucked up just killing it and eating it.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Sure, but that is also honoring the fish.
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: Yeah, but wouldn't you rather just kill small fish.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: I'm not really excited about killing fish in general, That's.
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: What I just said. And then you just said, well,
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: it's about honoring the fish, and the best way to
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: honor it be let it go back and live. I
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: don't care.
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: Ingest it and take its soul into your own and
- 1:05:26Speaker 9: then breathe it out into the atmosphere.
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: I'm not anti catch and cook, but I'm not anti
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: catching release either, because some people are like some people
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: will catch a fish and they don't even know what
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: the fish is, but they're like, well, I'm bringing it home, obviously,
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: I'm not gonna not eat this fish, like people eat
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: all sorts of fish. Like people go people eat catfish,
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: People go catfish fishing, and they just they bring home
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: these fucking eighty pound catfish.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Why you say that is though it's crazy.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: Have you ever looked at a catfish? I want to
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: eat Those things are fucking But I'm also they have
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: like antennas grow up.
- 1:06:10Speaker 9: In a fucking Mark Twain novel. Yeah, so that's just
- 1:06:14Speaker 9: different for me. It's a different experience. I eat striped bass.
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: Stripe bass is great. I would eat any bass, though,
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: I would I would eat a largemouth bass.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Those are that's what they are.
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: Oceans or large ocean mass are striped bass. You know,
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: there's also ocean trout or sea trout. I told you
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: that there were, And then there's lake trout. There's sea trout,
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: lake trout, and river trout. No, there's no such thing
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: as a river.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: That's what you guys are going to catch river trout.
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: There's sea trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout,
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: brook trout. Brook trout aren't technically trout.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: No, because it's not enough water.
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: No, they're brook trout are in rivers.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Brook trout are when it's raining really hard and.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: A brook forms now brook trout, and they technically not trout.
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: A lot of people don't know that.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Well, I'm not going to take that from them.
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: How far in are we right now? I was hoping
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: we were at like an hour thirty and I was
- 1:07:17Speaker 6: gonna be like, let's just let's just keep going. This
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: doesn't suck now, so let's pause, or like we'll we'd
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: have to end. Yes, let's do that, all right. Well,
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: I guess we'll wrap it up there. I'm going to
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: be in Austin, Texas in a couple of weeks July
