Speaker 5: Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: Good morning, Good morning, good morning. How are we doing today?
• 3:09
Speaker 3: How I'm doing fine? Give us your bio. Thirty seven,
• 3:12
Speaker 3: born and raised in Charleston. Has been fighting literally since
• 3:15
Speaker 3: we got a playground at the Boys and Girls Club
• 3:17
Speaker 3: on the West Side. I mean, I got three hundred
• 3:20
Speaker 3: guns turned in just to champion for Charleston, have been
• 3:23
Speaker 3: West Side together. I mean, there's so many things to
• 3:26
Speaker 3: list in a couple of seconds, and I'm just.
• 3:29
Speaker 5: I'm not timing you so you can listen to anything
• 3:31
  Speaker 5: you want.
• 3:31
Speaker 3: Man, Just a champion for change, the champion for our city,
• 3:34
Speaker 3: trying to bring Charleston back to what it's supposed to be,
• 3:36
Speaker 3: the capital city. I fight for the children, I fight
• 3:38
Speaker 3: for the elders, I fight for everybody who doesn't have
• 3:41
Speaker 3: a voice in for those who do.
• 3:43
  Speaker 6: So.
• 3:43
Speaker 5: When you say the city needs to be brought back
• 3:46
Speaker 5: to what it was, what do you mean by that?
• 3:48
Speaker 3: We're down population almost twenty thousand people, and it doesn't
• 3:53
Speaker 3: feel like the capital city. There's nothing to pull you
• 3:55
Speaker 3: off of the interstate. Back in the day, our mall,
• 3:57
Speaker 3: our civic center, our municipal the events that we were
• 4:01
Speaker 3: putting on used to pull people into Charleston. It wasn't
• 4:04
Speaker 3: just people wanted to live here. They wanted to be here,
• 4:06
Speaker 3: they wanted to visit here. That no longers happened. We
• 4:08
Speaker 3: see that, you know, Kenna County school boards just having
• 4:11
Speaker 3: to fire teachers because we have such a drop in population.
• 4:15
Speaker 3: People say, that's not the mayor's job. Actually it is.
• 4:17
Speaker 3: Anything that affects your life in this city is my job.
• 4:21
Speaker 3: So we should be advocating and figuring out ways to
• 4:23
Speaker 3: bring in more population. One of my plans is to
• 4:25
Speaker 3: try to bring in ten thousand people within the first
• 4:27
Speaker 3: three years that I get in an office, and I'll
• 4:29
Speaker 3: be working with the county commissions and county commissioners and
• 4:31
Speaker 3: other cities to make Charleston boom. There's no reason that
• 4:34
Speaker 3: they spent one hundred million dollars in South Tarston on
• 4:36
Speaker 3: one road and we're driving around in the capital city
• 4:39
  Speaker 3: on potholes.
• 4:41
  Speaker 5: That's pretty ambitious.
• 4:42
  Speaker 7: Though.
• 4:42
Speaker 5: I mean, there's numbers of people that you want to
• 4:44
Speaker 5: get into Charleston over the next what was the time
• 4:47
  Speaker 5: frame you said?
• 4:48
Speaker 3: Three years? First three years?
• 4:49
  Speaker 7: First three years?
• 4:50
Speaker 5: You want to get that many people? And how do
• 4:51
Speaker 5: you plan on going? I know you said you're going
• 4:52
Speaker 5: to work with the County Commission, but specifically, how do
• 4:54
  Speaker 5: you do that?
• 4:55
Speaker 3: So we work with the County Commission, we work with
• 4:56
Speaker 3: our tourism branch, we work with our legislator, and we
• 4:58
Speaker 3: work with our governor. He's invest thing all across West Virginia.
• 5:01
Speaker 3: I want those dollars to be invested here in Charleston
• 5:03
Speaker 3: and Kanal County. We need to do more housing, and
• 5:06
Speaker 3: we need to make sure that we're focusing on things
• 5:08
Speaker 3: that make people want to come to Charleston or a
• 5:10
Speaker 3: beautiful river city. Our river is polluted. That's terrible. That's
• 5:13
Speaker 3: one money maker already off the thing. So once we
• 5:16
Speaker 3: clean the river, that brings in people. People love to fish.
• 5:18
Speaker 3: If I give you somewhere to fish, I don't care.
• 5:20
Speaker 3: If you buy a vacation home here. You're paying your
• 5:21
Speaker 3: taxes in this city. And that's what we have to do.
• 5:24
Speaker 3: We have to have an open vision to bring people
• 5:26
Speaker 3: in businesses in and that's what I plan on doing
• 5:28
Speaker 3: and going out and talking and selling Charleston. Charleston is
• 5:32
Speaker 3: a wonderful place to be. Come be here, and we're
• 5:36
Speaker 3: going to do a couple different things with the tax rates.
• 5:38
Speaker 3: The first year that you're here, I don't want to
• 5:39
Speaker 3: charge you any taxes because I want to see you
• 5:42
Speaker 3: stand on your feet. And then if certain goals aren't
• 5:44
Speaker 3: met from year one through three, we're going to try
• 5:47
Speaker 3: and work some things out in taxes so that we're
• 5:50
Speaker 3: enticing and inviting peak businesses to start here. And then
• 5:54
Speaker 3: one thing I want to do is I want to
• 5:55
Speaker 3: give a lot of long standing businesses a tax break
• 5:58
Speaker 3: to say thank you everything that's going gone from gas.
• 6:02
Speaker 3: You just saw the water companies got a huge rate hike.
• 6:04
Speaker 3: They say it's going to be six or seven dollars,
• 6:06
Speaker 3: but it's gonna turn around to be twelve because you
• 6:07
Speaker 3: have a hike and seer too. So you know, it's
• 6:11
Speaker 3: just a lot of things that we can do that
• 6:12
Speaker 3: we don't do. We like to put our mayor in
• 6:14
Speaker 3: our city in a box and say this is the
• 6:15
Speaker 3: best that we got. No, no, it's not, we have better.
• 6:18
Speaker 5: You got some really big ideas and you're to be
• 6:22
Speaker 5: applauded for that. But you, I mean, obviously you realize
• 6:24
Speaker 5: you got to work with city council because and Charleston
• 6:26
Speaker 5: has an incredibly large city council, you know. So, I
• 6:29
Speaker 5: mean it's one thing for any mayor to come out
• 6:31
Speaker 5: and say, well, I want to do this, this and this,
• 6:33
Speaker 5: but you got to work with the within the confines
• 6:35
Speaker 5: of the city council.
• 6:36
Speaker 7: How do you plan on doing that?
• 6:38
Speaker 3: Once I think they actually sit down and listen and
• 6:40
Speaker 3: see the vision that we have for the for the city,
• 6:42
Speaker 3: I think they will jump on it immediately. A lot
• 6:46
Speaker 3: of the things that are happening in Charleston right now
• 6:48
Speaker 3: are simply because I made a mention of it at
• 6:50
Speaker 3: city Council. It goes all the way back to when
• 6:53
Speaker 3: Opie Smith was taken out of office, to when Tyke
• 6:55
Speaker 3: was taken out office. We're now trying to obtain ownership
• 6:58
Speaker 3: of the mall. Some of these things you can't say, well,
• 7:02
Speaker 3: we've been planning to do that. The mall has been
• 7:03
Speaker 3: empty and whole groups owned it for five years. For
• 7:06
Speaker 3: five years, you mean for five years you've watched businesses
• 7:10
Speaker 3: go and just in the last two you decided to
• 7:12
Speaker 3: take ownership back. Now we shouldn't take ownership of them all.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: We should hold the whole group accountable. Start a grant program,
• 7:18
Speaker 3: get businesses in their small local in big and so.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: Once city council sees the expanded work that I've done,
• 7:24
Speaker 3: and once they can fully see the vision in the
• 7:28
Speaker 3: plan and there's not so much riff raff after the primary,
• 7:32
Speaker 3: I think we can come together and create the best
• 7:36
Speaker 3: vision for Charleston and really make trust in the capital
• 7:38
Speaker 3: city of the state.
• 7:39
Speaker 5: Talking again to a Martes Washington, who's a Democratic candidate
• 7:42
Speaker 5: for mayor in the City of Charleston. Nine and fourteen
• 7:44
Speaker 5: of Dave Island Show on five Edy Line, brought to
• 7:46
Speaker 5: you in part by Morgan and Morgan with more than
• 7:48
Speaker 5: two twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that when you're injured,
• 7:51
Speaker 5: you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm.
• 7:54
Speaker 5: There are those Martes that would say, well, things are
• 7:59
Speaker 5: going on Charleston. I mean with the ad then opening businesses.
• 8:02
Speaker 5: I'm I'm just presenting the other side, with the return
• 8:04
Speaker 5: of the regatta and these other things. The things are
• 8:06
Speaker 5: going well in Charleston. To that you would say what I.
• 8:09
Speaker 3: Would say, Look at the results of what's going on.
• 8:10
Speaker 3: We're losing one hundred and forty or one hundred and
• 8:12
Speaker 3: forty teachers. Look at what's going on. Our legislator. Our
• 8:16
Speaker 3: population is the clinic across the state. So I can
• 8:19
Speaker 3: understand why you're saying that, and I can understand that
• 8:22
Speaker 3: it does seem like a really good outlook, but it's
• 8:24
Speaker 3: not enough. We're the capital city of the state. We
• 8:27
Speaker 3: shouldn't begging and bumming for dollars from the County Commission.
• 8:30
Speaker 3: We should be leading the way in everything, and we
• 8:33
Speaker 3: don't do that often enough. And that's the difference between
• 8:36
Speaker 3: me and the current administration is leadership. When people say
• 8:39
Speaker 3: no or you can't, I will literally show you the
• 8:41
Speaker 3: way that we can and if it's feasible, we can
• 8:43
Speaker 3: go that way. But I also take ownership and accountability
• 8:46
Speaker 3: for when things don't work out. I mean, when we
• 8:49
Speaker 3: got a state of emergency declared on the West Side,
• 8:52
Speaker 3: I will never forget reaching out to Richard Lindsay Hollis Lewis,
• 8:56
Speaker 3: the Mayor's office, the Governor's office, and the only person
• 9:00
Speaker 3: and they said we weren't important enough. Was the people
• 9:02
Speaker 3: that were supposed to be fighting for us the most,
• 9:03
Speaker 3: the city of Charleston. They said we didn't deserve a
• 9:07
Speaker 3: state of emergency. That's crazy that the Governor's office had
• 9:10
Speaker 3: to reach out to the city to say, hey, we
• 9:12
Speaker 3: want to declare a state of emergency. You need people
• 9:14
Speaker 3: that are actually fighting for better for all. That's why
• 9:18
Speaker 3: my motto is together, everyone counts, because I'm not going
• 9:20
Speaker 3: to leave nobody behind. I'm not saying one of my
• 9:22
Speaker 3: ideas are perfect or that I have the perfect plan,
• 9:24
Speaker 3: but guess what. I live in Charleston, and I'm among
• 9:26
Speaker 3: some of the greatest people in the world, and I
• 9:30
Speaker 3: can call on them for just about anything. And I
• 9:32
Speaker 3: think that's how we're going to make this city better.
• 9:33
Speaker 5: How's the campaign been going so far?
• 9:35
Speaker 3: The campaign is going pretty well. It's hard to get
• 9:37
Speaker 3: donations when people have a struggle. So I really have
• 9:40
Speaker 3: a problem with asking people for money and to donate
• 9:43
Speaker 3: solely because I know the struggle. If I'm happening to
• 9:45
Speaker 3: help you find a food pantry because I see all
• 9:47
Speaker 3: your messages, if I'm happing to help you get clothes
• 9:50
Speaker 3: for your kids at school, It's going to be hard
• 9:52
Speaker 3: for me to ask you for five dollars. But what
• 9:53
Speaker 3: I can do is show up at your door, door knock,
• 9:55
Speaker 3: and I can ask for your vote. And that's what
• 9:57
Speaker 3: I'm hoping everybody does on May twelf. I hope everybody
• 9:59
Speaker 3: comes out and votes tease from mayor because, like I said,
• 10:03
Speaker 3: we need new leadership. What we're currently doing is just
• 10:06
Speaker 3: it's not it and we got to do better for
• 10:08
Speaker 3: our kids. One of my main plans is to make
• 10:10
Speaker 3: sure that we're investing in our youth and changing over
• 10:12
Speaker 3: our rec centers to team clubs for the kids on
• 10:14
Speaker 3: the weekends, because that's one of the biggest complaints that
• 10:17
  Speaker 3: are here.
• 10:19
Speaker 5: You've got quite the social media following. How does that translate?
• 10:25
Speaker 5: I mean, I know you use your social media to get.
• 10:27
  Speaker 7: The word out.
• 10:30
Speaker 5: What are you hearing from people on your social media
• 10:32
Speaker 5: and how do you plan to continue to utilize your
• 10:33
Speaker 5: large following on social media to get your word out.
• 10:35
Speaker 3: What I'm hearing is that they feel forgotten and left behind.
• 10:38
Speaker 3: But I also hear that people love where we've gotten
• 10:43
Speaker 3: and I'm a fan of that too. We are better
• 10:45
Speaker 3: than what we would have been eight years ago. Thankfully,
• 10:47
Speaker 3: because Amy, there's people like being and Lance, I know
• 10:51
Speaker 3: he's a Republican, but they have been really truly working hard.
• 10:54
Speaker 3: But at the same sense, people are tired of doing
• 10:57
Speaker 3: the bare minimum. They want to see the most in
• 10:59
Speaker 3: the way. I use my platform as to where I
• 11:01
Speaker 3: show them you can be better going to Kroger's getting
• 11:05
Speaker 3: some clearance stuff that gives you extra money to take
• 11:07
Speaker 3: care of your kids. You know what I'm saying. We
• 11:08
Speaker 3: try to link them up with when they have bill
• 11:10
Speaker 3: problems and just different things. Leadership, bringing us all together,
• 11:13
Speaker 3: like I said, together, everyone counts in. Hopefully with all
• 11:17
Speaker 3: of the things that we're doing on social media, it
• 11:18
Speaker 3: translates and it shows people like I don't I'm not
• 11:23
Speaker 3: in this for me, I promise you I'm not. I'm
• 11:24
Speaker 3: in this because my nieces, my nephew's, you live here.
• 11:27
Speaker 3: I want to see us prosper I want to see
• 11:29
Speaker 3: you have a whole g league worth of people in here.
• 11:31
Speaker 3: I want you to have to build out a bigger
• 11:33
Speaker 3: radio station. These are the things that's supposed to happen.
• 11:36
Speaker 3: And I also want to see Chick fil A down
• 11:37
  Speaker 3: at Panera Bread.
• 11:39
Speaker 5: That's a big party. The thing is bringing Chick fil A.
• 11:42
Speaker 3: In Yeah, because when people come here to our civic center.
• 11:45
Speaker 3: We spend one hundred million dollars on that right, they
• 11:48
Speaker 3: don't see any food options in front of them, not
• 11:50
Speaker 3: a one. Wendy's is across the street and it's behind
• 11:52
Speaker 3: Go Far. It is a food option, but it's across
• 11:55
Speaker 3: the street behind Go Far. It would be amazing if
• 11:57
Speaker 3: them all worked in tandem with the civic center that
• 12:01
Speaker 3: we invested one hundred million dollars in. When we have
• 12:03
Speaker 3: people here at hotels, they want to shop, they want
• 12:05
Speaker 3: to eat. I'm not knocking Capitol Street. People are lazy.
• 12:08
Speaker 3: We're free, not even health you know what I'm saying.
• 12:10
Speaker 3: Number one in obesity. So there. The math has to
• 12:13
Speaker 3: math for certain things. And I just want to show
• 12:16
Speaker 3: people there's a better way and we can do this together.
• 12:19
Speaker 3: It's not just me, it's together. When I say together,
• 12:21
Speaker 3: everyone counts, I literally mean that. That's why you've seen
• 12:24
Speaker 3: me at school board meetings. I don't have any children.
• 12:27
Speaker 3: That's why you see me at city council advocating for dumpsters.
• 12:30
Speaker 3: City picks up my trash, My trash. Guys lovet me.
• 12:32
Speaker 3: That's why you see me advocating for police to get
• 12:35
Speaker 3: a better high a higher pay wage, because I know
• 12:38
Speaker 3: what they do, I know the work that goes into it.
• 12:40
Speaker 3: People think I hate police, No, I'm actually a fan.
• 12:43
Speaker 3: Both of my grandpas were police officers and my uncle
• 12:44
Speaker 3: Buster was an officer in Charston. It's I don't know
• 12:49
Speaker 3: how else I can say. We need better and we
• 12:51
Speaker 3: are better, and so we just got to demand it
• 12:54
Speaker 3: and hopefully, hopefully come a on primary day, I'll be
• 12:58
Speaker 3: crying in the middle of colch Street saying we did
• 13:01
Speaker 3: it because it's not about me again, it's about us.
• 13:03
Speaker 3: We got to have a better Tarleston for not only
• 13:05
Speaker 3: for our generation, but for future generations. It's not the
• 13:08
Speaker 3: capital city. Does it feel like the capital c to you,
• 13:11
Speaker 3: Dave Well, I mean it does it if you had
• 13:13
Speaker 3: to think about it, if you had to think about it.
• 13:15
Speaker 7: I'm just giving you your time, man.
• 13:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, no, I mean that's just that's the thing though.
• 13:19
Speaker 3: That's what I want people to I want people to
• 13:21
Speaker 3: think that, like, dang, can we do better? Yeah? We can,
• 13:25
Speaker 3: and we should. And I would love if the Mayor's
• 13:27
Speaker 3: office would just reach out. I mean if I didn't
• 13:29
Speaker 3: have to run for office and they would give me
• 13:31
Speaker 3: a position to really make Charleston better. That would have
• 13:33
Speaker 3: been wonderful the last time we ran, and he said
• 13:35
Speaker 3: she would have a conversation that never happened. I understand
• 13:38
Speaker 3: people getting their feelings and things like that, but if
• 13:40
Speaker 3: we truly want a better Charleston, pull me in. It's
• 13:44
Speaker 3: not like I can't make things happen. I worked at
• 13:45
Speaker 3: one sixty Driving Academy. I was the number one school
• 13:47
Speaker 3: in Parkersburg, West Virginia. When I worked at COAMC, we
• 13:50
Speaker 3: changed things everywhere I go. I'm doing things. There's an
• 13:53
Speaker 3: investment in West Virginia right now, ten million dollars from Tetenoble.
• 13:57
Speaker 3: Guess who did that? Me working at Metro on the boulevard.
• 14:00
Speaker 3: You never heard me say anything about it. You didn't ask,
• 14:03
Speaker 3: You didn't see me asks for no proclamation for what
• 14:06
Speaker 3: it benefits the people in the place that I love,
• 14:09
Speaker 3: which is trust. In Myst Virginia.
• 14:10
Speaker 5: We had a quick texture somebody just to ask your
• 14:13
Speaker 5: opinion about the user fee in Charleston.
• 14:16
Speaker 3: I agree with the user fee, but we have to
• 14:18
Speaker 3: source and figure out where the money's going. Right now
• 14:20
Speaker 3: in the budget it does not show where the money's going.
• 14:22
Speaker 3: It shows, but it's not accurate. There's so many places
• 14:25
Speaker 3: in the budget that you can hide money and hide things,
• 14:28
Speaker 3: And the user fee was originated to make sure that
• 14:31
Speaker 3: we were taking care of city infrastructure, our streets, in
• 14:33
Speaker 3: our roads, and I feel like that was a good idea.
• 14:37
Speaker 3: It's still a good idea because Trusting definitely needs a
• 14:39
Speaker 3: little bit more money for our roads. But I feel
• 14:44
Speaker 3: like all the user feed money's going to the police,
• 14:46
Speaker 3: you know, over time, or to certain pet projects, or
• 14:49
Speaker 3: you know, like it could be going to the commission
• 14:51
Speaker 3: that's now studying to figure out what to do with
• 14:53
Speaker 3: them all instead of just filling them all with people.
• 14:57
Speaker 3: You know, like at the end of the day, when
• 15:00
Speaker 3: I get to the city and I'm able to actually
• 15:02
Speaker 3: look over the real budget because the budget that they
• 15:05
Speaker 3: put out is not the real budget. There is there's
• 15:07
Speaker 3: lines where you can hide stuff. I don't know if
• 15:09
Speaker 3: you've ever looked at today, but it's crazy. Once I
• 15:12
Speaker 3: get in there, we'll figure out where that user fee
• 15:14
Speaker 3: is going. And I can tell you right now, I
• 15:15
Speaker 3: will one hundred percent tell you exactly where it's going
• 15:17
Speaker 3: and where I plan on it to go. And where
• 15:19
Speaker 3: I plan on it to go is to help demolish
• 15:21
Speaker 3: these homes and to get our roads together and to
• 15:23
Speaker 3: fix our sidewalks because we want our city to be beautiful.
• 15:27
Speaker 3: There's no reason that we've had people get hit by
• 15:29
Speaker 3: cars because they can't ride their scooter on the sidewalk.
• 15:34
Speaker 5: Personal question. Somebody ask if I want to know if
• 15:37
Speaker 5: you still teach zoomba and hip hop class.
• 15:38
  Speaker 3: Yes, we still.
• 15:39
Speaker 7: They were so much fun, says the text.
• 15:41
Speaker 3: We we definitely still teach hip hop, hip hop fitness.
• 15:44
Speaker 3: We teach it at health Right on the West Side,
• 15:45
Speaker 3: which I'm so thankful to West Virginia Health Right. They
• 15:48
Speaker 3: saw a need during COVID. Asks me a question. We
• 15:51
Speaker 3: have a building on the west Side, free gym, free
• 15:54
Speaker 3: cooking classes, free personal training, free help, and free resources
• 16:00
Speaker 3: over there. I teach on Tuesdays at six and Saturday
• 16:02
Speaker 3: mornings at ten am, all free.
• 16:04
  Speaker 7: All right.
• 16:05
Speaker 5: Final thirty. I do this at every candidate. We call
• 16:07
Speaker 5: it the final thirty. Not really time though. Why should
• 16:09
Speaker 5: someone vote for you for mayor?
• 16:11
Speaker 3: You should vote for me for mayor because I'm the
• 16:14
Speaker 3: best choice in you being recognized in your everyday life
• 16:19
Speaker 3: and feeling like you're important. This race is not about me,
• 16:23
Speaker 3: It's about us together together all we all count, and
• 16:26
Speaker 3: I want every single person in trusting to feel like
• 16:28
Speaker 3: you matter and that you have a voice. That is
• 16:31
Speaker 3: why you should vote for me. Currently, we feel left out,
• 16:34
Speaker 3: we feel disgruntled. Nobody's worried about our bills, nobody's worried
• 16:38
Speaker 3: about if your roof is okay, or your children getting
• 16:40
Speaker 3: off safe from the school. I'm already fighting and doing
• 16:43
Speaker 3: all of those things absolutely free of charge. So let
• 16:45
Speaker 3: me take charge in the mayor's office and really get
• 16:47
Speaker 3: our city back to where it needs to be.
• 16:48
Speaker 5: And you're available on Facebook. How do they find you

• 19:58
Speaker 5: Melanie Palero and Jeff Priest, and they joined us this
• 20:00
Speaker 5: morning the Jerick Construction Studios. Morning, guys, welcome to the show.
• 20:03
Speaker 7: Good morning, thanks for having us.
• 20:05
Speaker 5: No, let me start with you and then we'll go
• 20:06
Speaker 5: to Jeff. What what made you want to do this?
• 20:08
Speaker 5: What made you want to go Dancing with the stars?
• 20:11
Speaker 11: You know, I've been blessed my entire life having people
• 20:15
Speaker 11: that support me, family, friends, and I have a great
• 20:18
Speaker 11: safety net, and by being able to raise funds for
• 20:21
Speaker 11: the United Way that provides the resources to all the
• 20:24
Speaker 11: folks that they serve as their safety net. So what
• 20:27
Speaker 11: better way to give back that to community, to counties,
• 20:31
Speaker 11: to individuals that I've been blessed to have people give
• 20:34
  Speaker 11: to me.
• 20:35
Speaker 5: Jeff, what means you want to do this?
• 20:37
  Speaker 6: Uh?
• 20:38
  Speaker 7: The same?
• 20:39
Speaker 5: I mean it's Melody Calton said, you're going to do this,
• 20:42
Speaker 5: said the way it works with Melody.
• 20:43
Speaker 7: Go ahead, she said, you better do this.
• 20:45
Speaker 12: But uh, you know, being able to raise money for
• 20:47
Speaker 12: the United Way, and you know, the more money that
• 20:50
Speaker 12: we raised as a season and all of our couples,
• 20:53
Speaker 12: you know, the more work and good that they can
• 20:55
Speaker 12: do into community. So uh, it was yes, I mean
• 21:00
Speaker 12: an easy yes. And then when you get to go
• 21:01
Speaker 12: dance in front of a thousand people, so you wants
• 21:04
Speaker 12: to have a little fun there.
• 21:05
Speaker 5: So how are the rehearsals going so far?
• 21:08
  Speaker 7: Well?
• 21:08
Speaker 12: Good, We had one last night, we have another one tomorrow,
• 21:10
Speaker 12: so we're getting closer.
• 21:12
Speaker 5: So what kind of I mean it explains to the
• 21:14
Speaker 5: people that don't know how this works. As far as
• 21:16
Speaker 5: the type dancing that goes on here, it's really.
• 21:19
Speaker 7: Up to you. It's up to us.
• 21:21
Speaker 11: I would think that you know, Originally I thought we
• 21:23
Speaker 11: picked music and then go from there, but no, you
• 21:25
Speaker 11: pick a theme. So we picked a theme and once
• 21:27
Speaker 11: we've nailed that down, then you pick the music that
• 21:29
Speaker 11: goes with that theme, and you have three to five
• 21:32
Speaker 11: minutes to dance, do some skits, costume changes, whatever you
• 21:36
Speaker 11: want to do during that time to get people to
• 21:39
Speaker 11: pay to come and watch it.
• 21:40
Speaker 5: Dance Now, can you tell us what the theme is now?
• 21:43
Speaker 5: Or do you want or do you keep it a secret?
• 21:44
Speaker 5: So that's the way it works. Okay, so you don't
• 21:45
Speaker 5: know until the night of, Is that right?
• 21:47
  Speaker 7: I think that's a cool.
• 21:48
Speaker 5: Way to do it, because you know, people really don't
• 21:50
Speaker 5: know what to expect till you show up exactly right,
• 21:52
Speaker 5: all right, and you have a fundraiser come it up.
• 21:56
Speaker 5: Because if you go at which I did early this morning,
• 21:59
Speaker 5: you go to the night Away of Central West Virginia website.
• 22:03
Speaker 5: They have a listing of all of the teams on
• 22:04
Speaker 5: there and they're different fundraisers that they do. Because that's
• 22:07
Speaker 5: what this thing is all about. You don't just go
• 22:08
Speaker 5: out and dance. You gotta raise money. You guys, get
• 22:11
Speaker 5: something pretty unique coming up, tell us about them?
• 22:13
Speaker 7: Yeah, we next week? Is that we're both golf people.
• 22:16
Speaker 12: So next week is the master so we're going to
• 22:18
Speaker 12: have a Master's Saturday party at Edgewood Country Club. So
• 22:22
Speaker 12: it's going to be a lot of fun from six
• 22:25
Speaker 12: to nine. So we'll have different Master's team, food, cocktails,
• 22:28
Speaker 12: good time to socialize and hang out with people. And
• 22:31
Speaker 12: Melanie can tell you where to get tickets.
• 22:33
Speaker 11: Yes, you could do text four masters to for one
• 22:37
Speaker 11: four four four. That gives you the opportunity to buy
• 22:40
Speaker 11: tickets or be a sponsor. We'd love to have businesses,
• 22:44
Speaker 11: individuals sponsor our event. We do you know some great
• 22:47
Speaker 11: social media posts, give them recognitions and again all the
• 22:50
Speaker 11: money goes to United Way and they provide great services
• 22:54
Speaker 11: to so many different counties in central West Virginia that
• 22:58
Speaker 11: it's a great opportunity to great way to spend some money.
• 23:02
Speaker 5: Was the and I know you haven't actually competed yet,
• 23:05
Speaker 5: but just the rehearsals, Melody, was this something that, Okay,
• 23:08
Speaker 5: this is harder than I thought. This is exactly what
• 23:11
Speaker 5: I thought. Are you are either one of you? Are
• 23:13
Speaker 5: you good dancers going in? Or I mean, how has
• 23:15
Speaker 5: the whole process been like Melody?
• 23:17
Speaker 11: Back in my day, I was a cheerleader, so that
• 23:19
Speaker 11: had a little something to do with it. But you know, dancing,
• 23:22
Speaker 11: I think is the easiest part. I think the most
• 23:25
Speaker 11: difficult part is trying to figure out your your topic,
• 23:27
Speaker 11: what your theme is, your songs, and then all the
• 23:32
Speaker 11: personalities together. I think dancing is the easiest part. The
• 23:36
Speaker 11: challenging part has been coming up both creative ways to
• 23:40
Speaker 11: get people to donate money. I mean, you know, you
• 23:42
Speaker 11: have to be creative. You've got six couples, they are
• 23:45
Speaker 11: all doing a fabulous job raise of money for you
• 23:47
Speaker 11: to way, yeah, and so you want to be that
• 23:50
Speaker 11: little unique event that somebody goes, oh yeah, I want
• 23:53
Speaker 11: to I want to come to that and donate.
• 23:54
Speaker 5: So and it's amazing to me, guys, how huge this
• 23:58
Speaker 5: thing is. I'm I'm not just talking about months leading
• 24:00
Speaker 5: up to it. I'm talking about just that night. I
• 24:02
Speaker 5: mean it is one of one of Charleston's premiere events.
• 24:05
  Speaker 13: Yet.
• 24:05
Speaker 12: Yeah, it's amazing. I've been in the past few years
• 24:07
Speaker 12: and had some friends in it and the production. I
• 24:11
Speaker 12: was telling Margaret this, like the production, the judges, the
• 24:14
Speaker 12: whole night is amazing, and I don't know, just we're
• 24:18
Speaker 12: just looking forward to being a part of it and
• 24:19
Speaker 12: fortunate to be a part of it, and it's very
• 24:21
Speaker 12: rewarding that we can do this and raise money.
• 24:23
Speaker 5: So yeah, all right now she said that back her words,
• 24:26
Speaker 5: not mine, by the way, she said back in the
• 24:28
Speaker 5: day that she was a cheerleader. What do you bring
• 24:30
Speaker 5: to the table as far as your your dancing skills?
• 24:33
Speaker 7: Well, I never won any competitions. I was an athlete
• 24:36
  Speaker 7: growing up.
• 24:37
Speaker 12: You know, thought I could dance, and you thought I
• 24:39
Speaker 12: could dance. Coming into this and we get into rehearsals
• 24:42
Speaker 12: and I'm like, five six do you try to remember
• 24:44
Speaker 12: all these counts and moves?
• 24:45
Speaker 7: And I'm like, man, you know it once it's all
• 24:48
  Speaker 7: put together.
• 24:49
Speaker 12: These people that have done it in the past and
• 24:51
Speaker 12: now they make it look awesome and great, But like
• 24:53
Speaker 12: trying to remember everything and you know, not mess up
• 24:56
Speaker 12: as is something that we're working on.
• 24:59
  Speaker 7: But I don't know. I think we'll get it. I
• 25:01
Speaker 7: think we're going to be ready.
• 25:02
  Speaker 3: I think we're ready.
• 25:03
Speaker 11: I think what Jeff is being a little bashful of
• 25:05
Speaker 11: what he brings is his easygoing spirit. You want to
• 25:08
Speaker 11: try this, sure, why not? And just very go with
• 25:12
Speaker 11: the flow and blending. Well, I think that's his his
• 25:16
Speaker 11: I get a little nervous, and he's like.
• 25:18
Speaker 7: Just relax, you got this.
• 25:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, well you survived the Capitol on a regular basis,
• 25:23
Speaker 5: so this should be nothing to you, right exactly. You're
• 25:26
Speaker 5: seeing all kinds of dance moves and things and the
• 25:29
Speaker 5: spins and whatever going on to the Capitol. Now we
• 25:31
Speaker 5: then you're a professional with this.
• 25:32
  Speaker 14: You're exactly right.
• 25:33
Speaker 11: There's a lot of creativity going on there.

Speaker 5: How many years has this been happening.
• 32:34
Speaker 7: This is our third year to have the.
• 32:36
Speaker 5: Event, Okay, and so tell letus give it the overview
• 32:39
Speaker 5: of everything that goes on over there.
• 32:40
Speaker 21: All right, Well, we're gonna have this year seventy five
• 32:43
Speaker 21: inflatables in and around in the parking lot wherever we
• 32:47
Speaker 21: can fit him. Over at Ladyfield, seventy five inflatables for
• 32:49
Speaker 21: the kids to come and enjoy and jump on. And
• 32:51
Speaker 21: the weather looks great, Oh my gosh, amazing weather forecast
• 32:56
Speaker 21: zero present chance of rain eighty three degrees, Sonny. We
• 32:59
Speaker 21: could have not asked for a better forecast.
• 33:02
Speaker 5: And we don't want to jinx it because we know
• 33:03
Speaker 5: how mother nature can be and things could change. But
• 33:06
Speaker 5: I'm talking to meteorologists. Brian, he is a little bit
• 33:08
Speaker 5: earlier out in the hallway, and he.
• 33:09
Speaker 7: Says, we look good.
• 33:10
Speaker 5: Some weather, maybe some severe weather Saturday night, but Saturday
• 33:13
Speaker 5: during the day it'll be absolutely fantastic.
• 33:15
Speaker 21: One are the hours again. We will be there from
• 33:17
Speaker 21: twelve to five on Saturday. The cost to get into
• 33:21
Speaker 21: twelve dollars per person that includes adults. You can get
• 33:24
Speaker 21: tickets online at Quantum Party Rentals dot com under our
• 33:27
Speaker 21: events page, or you can go to Facebook. We actually
• 33:30
Speaker 21: have a Facebook group Easter Extravaganza, and.
• 33:33
Speaker 7: The ticket link is under the event section.
• 33:36
Speaker 5: What made you guys want to do this? This is
• 33:38
Speaker 5: kind of you know your baby, What what made you
• 33:41
Speaker 5: guys decide to want to do this?
• 33:43
Speaker 21: Well, every year we have to have our inflatables inspected,
• 33:47
Speaker 21: So rather than put them up and take them down
• 33:50
Speaker 21: one at a time and have the inspector come over
• 33:52
Speaker 21: to our warehouse, we thought, why don't we just go
• 33:54
Speaker 21: ahead and put them all up at the same time,
• 33:56
Speaker 21: and we'll do something special for the city and invite everybody
• 33:59
Speaker 21: to come jump. So we did it the first year
• 34:02
Speaker 21: and five thousand people showed up. We thought, well, we're
• 34:05
Speaker 21: going to do this every year.
• 34:07
Speaker 5: Somebody said, do you mean the University of Charleston Field.
• 34:10
Speaker 21: For the Yes, University of Charleston.
• 34:13
Speaker 7: Ladley Field, whatever you want to call. Everybody knows University.
• 34:15
  Speaker 21: Of Charleston Field.
• 34:16
  Speaker 14: Yeah.
• 34:16
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of a pretty good idea.
• 34:18
  Speaker 7: I didn't. I didn't realize that.
• 34:20
Speaker 5: About putting the inflatables up there to be inspected, that's
• 34:23
Speaker 5: actually a really good idea in your part.
• 34:25
Speaker 21: Yeah. Yeah. And doing an Easter weekend. It allows families
• 34:30
Speaker 21: who are in to come over and enjoy a family
• 34:33
Speaker 21: friendly event. You know, the Easter Bunny is going to
• 34:35
Speaker 21: be there. We're going to have six thousand eggs to
• 34:38
Speaker 21: give out at the front gate. You know, some of
• 34:41
Speaker 21: the eggs will have candy. Some of the eggs will
• 34:44
Speaker 21: have a free indoor party at Quantum Sports Center. You
• 34:48
Speaker 21: may have a free inflatable rental from Quantum, Party reunds,
• 34:52
Speaker 21: free pizza from Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. But several eggs
• 34:56
Speaker 21: actually have cash in them. Okay, you can't go wrong
• 34:58
Speaker 21: with cash, No, can't go on cuss. One egg actually
• 35:01
Speaker 21: has five hundred dollars in cash it.
• 35:03
Speaker 5: Okay, And so it's just random, just you just hand
• 35:05
Speaker 5: them out to people when they come in. Totally random, okay.
• 35:08
Speaker 5: And it's one of the things I like about this too.
• 35:09
  Speaker 5: It's a it's a great environment. Our radio stations will
• 35:12
Speaker 5: be there, you know, we're there every year. It's a
• 35:14
Speaker 5: it's a really great environment. You get the kids, You
• 35:17
Speaker 5: get to see the kids come out and have fun,
• 35:18
Speaker 5: and the parents have a lot of fun too. And
• 35:20
Speaker 5: there's I guess you have concessions, you have things available too, right.
• 35:24
Speaker 21: So yep, uh, ladyfield will have their concessions stand open
• 35:27
Speaker 21: and we'll have some food trucks, coffee truck, candy uh
• 35:31
Speaker 21: vendor who's going to be selling freeze dried candy. Mom
• 35:35
Speaker 21: and dad, I would suggest, you know, getting a little
• 35:38
Speaker 21: pool cart, put some camping chairs and maybe a blanket
• 35:41
Speaker 21: in it. Come claim your spot on the field. We
• 35:44
Speaker 21: leave the field open so families can kind of have
• 35:46
Speaker 21: home base somewhere on the field.
• 35:48
Speaker 5: That makes sense. Well, that way they don't have to,
• 35:50
Speaker 5: you know, mom and dad don't have to just you know,
• 35:52
Speaker 5: follow them. The ones that are big enough to go
• 35:55
Speaker 5: by themselves, they don't have to follow behind them. I
• 35:56
Speaker 5: mean basically, I mean they can they can say go play,
• 36:00
Speaker 5: We'll be over here, you.
• 36:01
Speaker 21: Know exactly, they can relax, enjoy the sunshine. Of course,
• 36:06
Speaker 21: Ladleyfield will have the adult beverage section open if any
• 36:10
Speaker 21: If mom and dad want to enjoy a nice cold
• 36:11
Speaker 21: beverage on the hot day, make sure your kids do
• 36:15
Speaker 21: bring socks. Socks are required on the inflatables so you
• 36:17
Speaker 21: don't burn your feet up going on those slides. But
• 36:20
  Speaker 21: it's it's really a great event for the family's it's
• 36:24
Speaker 21: so much fun. You know, you're not going to find
• 36:26
Speaker 21: this anyplace else in West Virginia. Seventy five inflatables up.
• 36:31
Speaker 21: At the same time, you have slides, you have obstacle courses,
• 36:34
Speaker 21: combo units, bouncers, eurobungies, rock walls, mechanical bulls. We'll have
• 36:41
Speaker 21: our train going the Quantum Express taking rides around the track.
• 36:45
Speaker 21: And you know, if mom or Dad wants to get
• 36:47
Speaker 21: on the bull, come on, get on the bull, have
• 36:49
Speaker 21: some fun. So the mechanical bull or mechanical three mechanical
• 36:53
Speaker 21: bulls over there. So it really is fun for the
• 36:56
Speaker 21: whole family. They'll be something for every age group.
• 37:00
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 37:00
Speaker 21: When you come in the gate. We're going to have
• 37:02
Speaker 21: our todd zone available for kids one to six. That
• 37:05
Speaker 21: way they don't get trampled on the bigger inflatables. They'll
• 37:07
Speaker 21: have an area for the little ones to jump and
• 37:09
Speaker 21: have fun. But it really is a family event for Easter.
• 37:15
Speaker 5: I want to give you time, Aaron, to talk about
• 37:17
Speaker 5: the you know, your businesses, the Quantum family of businesses
• 37:20
Speaker 5: that are putting this whole thing on. Because you got
• 37:22
Speaker 5: the you know, the inflatables, get the I mean the
• 37:24
Speaker 5: other the other center. Talk about those businesses well.
• 37:27
Speaker 21: Quantum Party Rentals is the largest inflatable company here in
• 37:30
Speaker 21: West Virginia. We have around two hundred inflatables that we
• 37:34
Speaker 21: rent out on a yearly basis and we go anywhere
• 37:38
Speaker 21: in the state festivals, fairs, weddings, corporate events, backyard parties.
• 37:44
Speaker 5: Do you do a lot of weddings.
• 37:45
  Speaker 13: We do.
• 37:46
Speaker 21: We actually have started to pick up some weddings. We
• 37:49
Speaker 21: have great, big wedding tents, you know, forty eighty.
• 37:53
  Speaker 7: That's not what I did.
• 37:54
Speaker 5: I wasn't my simple mind wasn't thinking about you know,
• 37:57
Speaker 5: the tents. I was thinking about slides and things. But
• 38:00
Speaker 5: you can have those two, I guess right, if it's
• 38:02
Speaker 5: that kind of wing.
• 38:03
Speaker 21: We do have an all white wedding bounce house. Really
• 38:06
Speaker 21: we do it is it was a thing that started
• 38:08
Speaker 21: over in Europe and the trend has come across the pond,
• 38:12
Speaker 21: they say, And we have a white wedding bounce house.
• 38:15
Speaker 21: It's more for photo ops, you know, the bride and
• 38:18
Speaker 21: grout and get on it and they bounce up in
• 38:19
Speaker 21: the air and get some good pictures.
• 38:22
Speaker 5: Okay. And the center you have to yep.
• 38:24
Speaker 21: Indoor sports centers. We have one a Hurricane one in Charleston.
• 38:27
Speaker 21: We do a lot of inflatable birthday parties at our
• 38:30
Speaker 21: sports centers. We're pretty much known for that. We do
• 38:34
Speaker 21: anywhere from twenty to twenty five parties a weekend. Kids
• 38:37
Speaker 21: come in, we have five inflatables. It's more of an
• 38:39
Speaker 21: active birthday party. We provide a sports coach to run
• 38:42
Speaker 21: organized games for the kids, whether it's dodgeball, kickball, t ball,
• 38:45
Speaker 21: flag football, or NRF gun battle. And it's nice because
• 38:48
Speaker 21: the parents can actually participate with their kids. We usually
• 38:51
Speaker 21: do like parents versus kids dodgeball game, you know, and
• 38:54
Speaker 21: the parents get active and get involved, so it's fun
• 38:56
  Speaker 21: for everyone there.
• 38:58
Speaker 5: Indeed, we're talking to Aaron Wood about and what are
• 39:00
Speaker 5: the hours again over at the Laateleyfield or the University
• 39:03
  Speaker 5: of Charleston Field.
• 39:04
Speaker 21: University of Charleston, the Ladyfield. We'll be there Saturday this Saturday,
• 39:08
Speaker 21: April fourth, from twelve to five. I would suggest going
• 39:11
Speaker 21: online and buying tickets, though usually the non ticket holders
• 39:14
Speaker 21: the ones that have to buy tickets there. The line
• 39:16
Speaker 21: is a thousand people deep, so you can get He's
• 39:19
  Speaker 21: not exaggerated.
• 39:19
Speaker 5: I mean because I've been over there with the stations
• 39:22
Speaker 5: the last couple of years.
• 39:23
  Speaker 7: It's a big old line.
• 39:24
Speaker 5: It really really is. If you don't have your tickets
• 39:25
  Speaker 5: in advance.
• 39:26
Speaker 21: Yeah, it goes down the street, wraps around the corner,
• 39:28
Speaker 21: it goes around the back side of the stadium. You know,
• 39:30
Speaker 21: you need to buy your tickets online. The far right
• 39:32
Speaker 21: line for entry is for ticket holders and we just
• 39:35
Speaker 21: scan your ticket and you go right in. But you
• 39:38
Speaker 21: buy your tickets online at Quantum party Rentals dot com.
• 39:40
Speaker 21: Go to our events page. The link is there, or
• 39:42
Speaker 21: you can go to our Facebook page Easter Extravaganza and
• 39:46
Speaker 21: you can buy tickets online there.
• 39:49
Speaker 5: And as I mentioned, our stations are going to be there.
• 39:50
Speaker 5: The beat V one hundred and KWS will all be there.
• 39:54
Speaker 5: So we're looking forward to Senio over there. Great.
• 39:57
Speaker 7: Good to see you guys too.
• 39:58
Speaker 5: All right, it's all happening this Saturday, and Brian Hughes
• 40:01
Speaker 5: tells me the why. That's going to be fantastic, as
• 40:03
Speaker 5: you said earlier to the top of this. So a
• 40:05
Speaker 5: great opportunity to get out there for a little sunscreen
• 40:07
Speaker 5: on though, because it's gonna be a little it's going
• 40:09
Speaker 5: to feel look more like summer on Saturday during the
• 40:11
Speaker 5: day than what it's going to feel like spring.
• 40:13
Speaker 21: Yes, definitely bring your shunstren. Gonna have to have it.
• 40:16
Speaker 21: Eighty three d in sunny. I cannot believe the first
• 40:19
Speaker 21: week in April we're going to have this kind of weather.
• 40:21
  Speaker 7: It's amazing.
• 40:22
Speaker 5: All right, sounds good. And Aaron Wood, we'll see you
• 40:24
Speaker 5: over there this Saturday. Man, thanks a lot, all right,
• 40:26
Speaker 5: Thanks Da. It's fourteen minutes away from Tim. Will take
• 40:28
Speaker 5: to break a little bit early. We'll come back after this.

• 40:45
Speaker 8: Dick Durbin. Now Durbin has a new scheme. He's doing
• 40:49
Speaker 8: the dirty work to benefit corporate mega stores. Durbin's bill
• 40:52
Speaker 8: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
• 40:55
Speaker 8: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores
• 40:59
Speaker 8: want to inflate their profits, and Liberal Dick Durbin would
• 41:02
Speaker 8: help them do it. Tel Senators say no to the
• 41:06

• 41:10
Speaker 7: I'm John Morgan of Morgan and Morgan. I am often
• 41:13
Speaker 7: to ask what is the value of my case?
• 41:15
Speaker 9: The answer, of course, depends on your injuries, liability, and
• 41:18
Speaker 9: the damage is to you financially, and it also very
• 41:21
Speaker 9: much depends on the law firm you hire to represent you.
• 41:24
Speaker 9: All firms are not the same. For over thirty years,
• 41:27

Speaker 5: two shows on Metro News Midday this week, and we
• 43:30
Speaker 5: also talked to Billy Cornwell from the Kidrid Family Communication.
• 43:33
Speaker 5: This was a team that was struggling a little bit
• 43:35
Speaker 5: at one point. But you know what they say about
• 43:38
Speaker 5: March madness now April madness, I guess is that you
• 43:41
Speaker 5: turn it on at the right time and amazing things
• 43:43
Speaker 5: can happen. Marshall got the win last night. They played
• 43:45
Speaker 5: for the championship. They'll be taking a day. It'll be
• 43:49
Speaker 5: at three o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the cam Henderson Center.

Speaker 5: The lineup has been announced for the Ruby Summer Concerts
• 44:42
Speaker 5: series in Morgantown, all free shows and there's pretty good ones.
• 44:46
Speaker 5: Fabulous Thunderbirds, one of my favorite groups. They're still out
• 44:49
Speaker 5: there and still touring. They're going to be their thirty
• 44:51
Speaker 5: eight special, another one of my favorite groups. You're a
• 44:55
Speaker 5: kid of the nineties, you'll remember nineteen ninety seven Hanson,
• 45:00
Speaker 5: that song It was impossible to escape that song. In
• 45:04
Speaker 5: the late nineties, I was playing that song on the
• 45:06
Speaker 5: radio a lot more times than I wanted to.
• 45:08
Speaker 7: But they're still out there.
• 45:09
Speaker 5: The Hanson Brothers are going to be there, contemporary Christian
• 45:12
Speaker 5: act switch Foot, and a couple of iconic names from
• 45:16
Speaker 5: the rock music world, Ever Clear and Tonic, just to
• 45:19
Speaker 5: name a few. And again it's all part of the
• 45:20
Speaker 5: Ruby Summer Concert Series in Morgantown and all the shows
• 45:23
Speaker 5: are free. We're going to talk to the organizers of
• 45:25
Speaker 5: that event about that. Also, State Senator Jason Barrett will
• 45:27
Speaker 5: join us. As I mentioned earlier, big win for the
• 45:29
Speaker 5: Marshalls women's basketball team last night. We will get into

Speaker 5: is her name. She's running for Charleston City Council as
• 46:02
Speaker 5: a Democrat in Ward ten. We'll talk to her and

Speaker 5: a little bit more about the upcoming Black and Gold

Speaker 5: coming up on tomorrow's show. And also I do want

• 46:50
Speaker 5: you to Dale Cooper, who's set in for me yesterday
• 46:52
Speaker 5: as I had to have a medical procedure done in
• 46:54
Speaker 5: conjunction with the with the cancers that I have. I'm
• 46:58
Speaker 5: gonna paint a picture for you. I'm not gonna go
• 47:00
Speaker 5: I'm not gonna paint that deep of a picture, okay,
• 47:02
Speaker 5: but I'm gonna tell you what I had done yesterday.
• 47:05
Speaker 5: Don't worry. You're not gonna lose your breakfast. You're Mary B.
• 47:08
Speaker 5: You'll be fine, all right. But I had to go
• 47:11
Speaker 5: in for something yesterday that they call mapping, and basically
• 47:16
Speaker 5: it's not on inside, it's on the outside. And they
• 47:19
Speaker 5: basically put you through this scan similar to an MRI,
• 47:26
Speaker 5: and they put little tattoos on you, not in you,
• 47:30
Speaker 5: but on you. And so when I start the treatments,
• 47:34
Speaker 5: which will be later this month, I guess they can
• 47:36
Speaker 5: more easily identify. But the funny thing to me was
• 47:39
Speaker 5: I go in big shout out to the folks at
• 47:41
Speaker 5: the c AMC Cancer Center across the bridge here Kenas City.
• 47:45
Speaker 7: Just fantastic people to work with.
• 47:46
Speaker 5: So I go over there yesterday I had a nine
• 47:48
Speaker 5: o'clock appointment, and that's why I had to miss the
• 47:50
Speaker 5: show yesterday. I was back though, by you know, back
• 47:52
Speaker 5: in the building by ten o'clock yesterday. So I go
• 47:55
Speaker 5: over there and they bring me back into the room
• 47:59
Speaker 5: and they tell me to remove my pants, keep everything
• 48:04
Speaker 5: else on. Pick out this what looks like boxing shorts
• 48:08
Speaker 5: or boxing trunks, I should say, but they're actually maybe
• 48:10
Speaker 5: of the same material that scrubs are. Put those on,
• 48:12
Speaker 5: and then go sit out in the little waiting area
• 48:14
Speaker 5: now not the main waiting area of the facility, but
• 48:17
Speaker 5: a special waiting area. So sitting there with these you know,
• 48:20
Speaker 5: boxing trunks on and shoes and socks, and you know,
• 48:23
Speaker 5: I wear my glasses and my wedding band watch and
• 48:26
Speaker 5: so on and so forth, it's like the most surreal
• 48:28
Speaker 5: moment ever. I mean, just okay, this is.
• 48:31
Speaker 7: Where we are now.
• 48:32
Speaker 5: I just thought i'd throw it out there because I
• 48:35
Speaker 5: thought it was funny. I'm trying to find as much
• 48:37
Speaker 5: humor as I can in this whole thing, because it
• 48:39
Speaker 5: is it is kind of funny. I did not see
• 48:42
Speaker 5: the President's speech last night, way past my bedtime, but
• 48:45
Speaker 5: basically selling the war in Iran to the American people.
• 48:48
Speaker 5: I'll get into that a little bit more on talk line.
• 48:50
Speaker 5: As for me, I am just looking for more ways
• 48:56
Speaker 5: to weave in the word bimbo vacation into my daily vocabulary.
• 49:03
Speaker 5: I got to give props to Ben Fields of the
• 49:06
Speaker 5: Gazett Mail, who is the opinion page writer. I think
• 49:10
Speaker 5: he might be the editor. If not, I just made
• 49:12
Speaker 5: him the editor. I don't know Ben personally, but Ben,
• 49:15
  Speaker 5: I'm a fan of your work, and he's got a
• 49:19
Speaker 5: very interesting editorial in the Gaset Mail this morning about
• 49:23
Speaker 5: this whole thing with Benbofication. Now, if you don't know
• 49:26
Speaker 5: what I'm talking about, Christin know, the recently unemployed Christy No,
• 49:32
Speaker 5: I guess going through a divorce or separation from her
• 49:34
  Speaker 5: husband or whatever.
• 49:35
  Speaker 7: I don't.
• 49:36
Speaker 5: I don't know, but word has come that he was
• 49:41
Speaker 5: quite fond and I'm gonna keep it a family show, Okay.
• 49:44
Speaker 5: I mean I just talked about me taking my pants
• 49:46
Speaker 5: off and getting tattooed, all right, so I can, and
• 49:49
Speaker 5: I did that semi tastefully. This Bimbofication thing is it's
• 49:55
Speaker 5: kind of like cross dressing, but it's not exactly like
• 50:01
Speaker 5: cross dressing. It's a little bit different. I wanted to
• 50:03
Speaker 5: know more about it. So what I did was I
• 50:07
Speaker 5: logged onto the computer under Ryan's name and I googled
• 50:11
Speaker 5: it bembofication. So you're probably gonna be getting a call
• 50:14
Speaker 5: from I t in for Ashley in HR just so
• 50:16
Speaker 5: you know, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna take
• 50:17
Speaker 5: a chance of doing that. So I logged in under
• 50:20
Speaker 5: Ryan's name and I looked up bimbification. Uh. And it's basically,
• 50:25
Speaker 5: like I guess, like sort of like cross dressing. But
• 50:28
Speaker 5: the idea is to make it out as outrageous as possible.
• 50:31
Speaker 5: And what I mean by that is large and again
• 50:34
Speaker 5: keeping it family friendly, larger than normal.
• 50:38
Speaker 7: Balloons in the front.
• 50:40
Speaker 5: Okay, because the idea is they don't want it, you know,
• 50:45
Speaker 5: they don't want like a drag queen or whatever. They
• 50:46
Speaker 5: don't want to look pretty. They want to make it
• 50:49
Speaker 5: outrageous looking. And that's apparently what her husband was into.
• 50:54
Speaker 5: And if you read Benfield's column in the gazet Mail
• 50:59
Speaker 5: this morning, I said, great job, Ben. It kind of
• 51:03
Speaker 5: breaks it all down. And I think it also goes
• 51:07
Speaker 5: to show the hypocrisy of a lot of people. Now,
• 51:11
Speaker 5: I am not going to go as far as to say, well,
• 51:13
Speaker 5: this is the hypocrisy of the Republican Party. Okay, it's not.
• 51:17
Speaker 5: It's the hypocrisy of a couple of people who rallied
• 51:21
Speaker 5: frequently against things like this. And to their credit, I
• 51:26
Speaker 5: guess her husband, I guess you know, he didn't come
• 51:30
Speaker 5: out and say, oh, it's not me, it was Ai
• 51:31
Speaker 5: or what. No, he pretty much said it was him.
• 51:33
Speaker 5: And look, if that's your thing, that's your thing. Ain't
• 51:35
Speaker 5: my job to kink shame you. You know, whateverever you do,
• 51:39
Speaker 5: you in the words of the late John lenn whatever
• 51:41
Speaker 5: gets you through the night, you know. But when you
• 51:43
Speaker 5: have set on a pulpit as many members of the
• 51:47
Speaker 5: Republican not all, but as many members of the Republican Party,
• 51:50
Speaker 5: and you're preaching family values, and you're preaching about the
• 51:55
Speaker 5: perversion of the of the left and the other party,
• 51:59
Speaker 5: then well, just to think, you know, pot, have you
• 52:05
Speaker 5: met the kettle? A couple of minutes from wrapping it
• 52:08

• 52:34
Speaker 5: baseball season coming back to Charleston. I really really am.
• 52:37
Speaker 5: By the way, my wife just sent me a tex so.
• 52:39
Speaker 5: I was talking about all the surreal things that happened
• 52:40
Speaker 5: to me at the CAMC Cancer Center yesterday. I forgot
• 52:43
Speaker 5: they had a gentleman in the lobby playing piano while
• 52:46
Speaker 5: this was going on yesterday. So as if they weren't
• 52:49
Speaker 5: weird enough that I'm setting there in these boxing type
• 52:52
Speaker 5: shorts and with shoes and socks and the whole deal on,
• 52:54
Speaker 5: I got Billy Joel out here.
