Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, your host, and joining me today is my co-host, Bethany.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: And we are excited and delighted to be here today to bring you the truth and the word of God.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And um one thing we've been working on this week is prayer.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: As well, well, actually, we've been working on this for several weeks because we have felt called and led um to stay the course and in this direction talking about prayer because there's just so much, so much to prayer that we just want to keep staying the course.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And today we're gonna um continue on to part two of consistency with prayer and what that looks like.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: We already talked last week about um um how into how to stay consistent, why to stay cons consistent, and how to build up your strength in consistency.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And um this week we're just gonna keep on going with that conversation.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, um good morning and welcome in.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Glad you're here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you, great to be here.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Before we get started, let's go ahead and pray.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Dear Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to come and gather around your word, your truth.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: You are true, Lord, and we need the truth now more than ever.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So thank you for this time, thank you for what you will do through it, and to everyone who is listening, Lord, how you will use this episode in their lives.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: We give it to you, Lord, and we thank you for this opportunity and speaking through us in Jesus' name.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Thank you for that.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's always good to start off in prayer, um, especially when we're talking about prayer.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I think that's a pretty good idea.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: So um, do you want to um just recap a little bit about just some a couple of the scriptures we talked about in in uh our last episode so um everybody can get be brought back up to speed from part one to part two?
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, that would be great.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: So in part one, we started off with talking about Paul when he had um his thorn in the flesh, and he was praying at least three times for it to be removed from him.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: And um we were looking at 2 Corinthians 12 um verses 9 and 10, especially, um noticing what um Paul was getting at, and what he um what the Lord was showing him, that his God's grace is sufficient, and so that truly is, I believe, what we need to understand that just as God was for Paul, God is the same today for us, is God's grace for us is the same as it was for Paul, and that should be a great encouragement to us.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: And so as we continue on now with part two, um let's notice a few more verses that really help to anchor us, I believe, if we are um allowing God's word to really be our anchors, to not let other distractions hinder us.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, if you would like me to, I can start um with today's verses.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's dive in.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And verse four specifically, so Isaiah thirty-five, verse four says, Say to them that are that are of a faithful heart, be strong, fear not.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with uh recompense, he will come and save you, and just the power of that verse to understand the truth of that.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: That was not just for Isaiah, that was not just for those who lived back then, that is for us today, I believe.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: That and notice what it says the first part of the verse Say to them there are of a faithful heart for those watching, could you say that of yourself?
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: That there's something that's causing you to have a fearful heart.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: God wants to recompense you.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: God wants to share show his vengeance for you.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: And I find that incredibly amazing when we think about our world today.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: How many people would fit into that category of having a fearful heart?
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: No matter what the situation is, no matter what the circumstance is, they just have a fearful heart, and so reading this verse should give us encouragement, should help us understand that it's God.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: God wants to give us strength, God wants to give us blessings.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: He understands how Satan works.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: He understands Satan's status.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: He's ready.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: God is ready and willing to help each of us no matter what we're going through.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, do you have thoughts on this?
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: I think that, well, it kind of takes us back to our our last episode as well, because here we're talking about a fearful heart, and in the last episode we talked about us being our weakness.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Having a fearful heart um is a part of us having weakness.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: That's a weakness that we have within ourselves.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: And in order to be strong, being that we're talking about prayer, the one way that we strengthen that fearfulness and that weakness that we have is through prayer.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: It's like constantly going to God, um, jumping on that lifeline and being like, hey, God, I need your help.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I need you to build up my strength.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And it says, be strong and fear not, but it but the question I want to say is, how do you do that?
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Well, you do that through prayer.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Um, some people will be like, yeah, I do have a fearful heart, but it tells me to be strong and fear not.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: And you know, behold, your God will come with vengeance.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: But how, how do I do that?
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: And um we know God will will give recompense, um, just like David when he cut off Goliath's head with David's own sword.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know if you know the song, The Defender.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Um, if you don't know it, look it up.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: It's a really good song.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: I don't own the rights to it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: It's not my song, but it's a wonderful song.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: And it's about the story of David.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: It talks about um um God's vengeance.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: And it's a really, really powerful song.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: It's one of my very favorite songs.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: And when I think about how powerful that song is, that song, when I listen to that and what God does, and the strength and the power and that just in that that little bit of a testimony through that that song that she wrote, um, gives me this gumption to want to be more bold, more like, ah, I got, you know, because sometimes I think our fear, the fear that we have is because we don't have the boldness and and we have that weakness.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: And we're like, oh, I'm not strong.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, it's amazing.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: We can't even compare ourselves when we're we're fearful or weak to David, because David wasn't fearful or weak.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: He was the opposite of that, you know.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Um, we need to go to God and ask him to give us the strength, and he will, you know, why David had that strength?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Because he spent what hours and hours out in the field with God, speaking with God, and God strengthened him the whole time.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Gave him all of the strength that he needed to take on the giants.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: So it's so important.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: So I just I don't know why that came to my mind, but I was thinking about that with the vengeance part.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and thinking, you know, when we look at the scriptures, sometimes we might ask ourselves, well, how do we do this?
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: How do we how do we do it?
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: And it, you know, it says, Behold your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: He will come and he will save you.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: You have to go to him, you know, you have to ask him to save you.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: He's waiting on you.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: He wants to.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: He wants to give you the strength, he wants to take away your weakness, and he wants to remove your fear.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: But we have to go to him, and and we do that through prayer.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So go ahead, Bethany.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: That's very true, very powerful to consider.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: And so as we continue on thinking about, you know, have there been times in your life for those of either Mickey or those who are listening, have there been times in your life where you're just like something happened and you were wrong, and you're just like, oh man, I you know, I want to get back at people, or something like that, or you know, you're going through something difficult and hard, and you're like, but God, you see that I'm doing right, and yet it seems like I'm being portrayed as not doing right, and so what do we time?
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: What do we do during those times?
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: How do we approach those times?
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Well, in Romans chapter twelve and verse nineteen gives us that answer when we we feel like we just want to maybe get back at someone who has wronged us or whatever.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Whatever it is.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Romans twelve nineteen gives us the answer when it says dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath unto wrath.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: For it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, said the Lord.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: So when we have those times when we feel like we have been wrong in some way, we're not supposed to take vengeance on others, and that may sound odd that you know, well, I was wrong, and so what you know why should I not show someone what I think and whatever.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: God knows.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: God knows exactly what is needed.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And you know, as I as I was studying for this episode and studying the verses, the Lord just brought Romans 12, 19 to my mind that we do need to be careful that we allow God to enact his own dealings and not take things on ourselves.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: And maybe you're wondering, well, how does this relate to being consistent in prayer?
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: Well for me, I look at it as if we're if we have them on and we're continually thinking about, you know, how we can get back at sport.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: We need to remember that vengeance does belong to the Lord and let him deal with um what he knows is needed.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: And so maybe it maybe it's not what you would think of when you think of consistency and prayer.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: But for those who may again who might be going through things where they have been wrong and however they have been and they're wondering what what do I do?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: So just the main thing is stay consistent in prayer and just give thanks to the Lord and allow him to work as he he sees fit and don't rush him.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Don't put a time limit on him because putting a time limit on God, I believe, is one of Satan's tactics.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: And you know, he's Satan is wanting us to even rush God, and God's like, no, no, allow me God to show what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, and you surrender.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: So a long explanation for a um couple verses that I really think are important to remember as we're talking about consistency in prayer, and so we have a few more verses to look at for our episode today, but Mickey, do you have any thoughts on this verse?
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: When I when I think about this verse, I think um that we're not supposed to retaliate against people that wrong us in life.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And it's hard not to.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: It's hard to God wants us to give them the grace card instead of a punch in the throat, you know, honestly.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: And I think that when we do do that, when we do give people grace, even though they've hurt us or wronged us, then God gives us grace and he blesses us, and then he takes care of the issue.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: He takes and the issue isn't what they did to us, it's the heart posture.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: He's not gonna go in and he's not gonna go in and give them a good thrashing like we want to do.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: He's gonna go in and work on their heart.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: His vengeance is is is a is a work at heart.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: It's not it's not a literal attack.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Like he's not, you know.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: So when we think about some of that, he's going to soften the areas of their heart that need to be softened so they that they're not acting that way towards other people, you know, like they did towards us, you know.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: And the same with us.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: When we act irrational or we make we make mistakes because you know what some people are like, well, I'm sure you've made your own mistakes.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: We all we all have.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I know I have.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Um and again, we go to God in prayer and we pray about it, and we print, we repent, and we ask God to show us.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: If we're constantly asking God to show us, it helps us in our reaction to what we go through too.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: So us having vengeance on somebody is a quick reaction, it's a quick response, it's a knee-jerk to what Satan wants us to do to the situation.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: But what God wants us to do is to be like, you know what, I'm just gonna let God deal with that, and I'm gonna go have a talk with God, and I'm gonna go pray to God, and and vengeance is gonna be his, and I don't have to worry about it.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: And if we look at it like if we look at situations like that, do you know how much more peace you will have in your life by just going, you know what?
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: God said vengeance is his.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: I don't even have to worry about this.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm irritated, I'm mad right now, but I'm just gonna give it to God, let him have his vengeance, and then I'll just sit back and watch, and whatever happens, happens, you know?
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Because then you can have peace.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: You don't even have because some people will self-destruct over those situations.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: They they really they can they can't get over it.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: They can't let it go.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And they keep they keep having that knee-jerk reaction to it when they need to stop.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: You know, let's put the brakes on.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Let's let's just go get in prayer, stay consistent in prayer and and sit with the Lord and be like, hey, vengeance is all yours, Lord, and let him have it.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can even tell him, let him have it, whatever you need to tell them to get it off your chest.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: You know, God already understands, he already knows your heart, he already knows what you're thinking, by the way.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: You can't even hold those thoughts back from God because he already knows it.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: He knows if you're being, you're, you know, if you're trying to be kind about it or if you're just being really mean about it.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: But um, he wants you to take it to him instead of reacting to that person.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Show that other person some grace.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Um, because we don't know the situation.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: We don't know every situation that someone goes through.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: So we give out the grace card and then God takes on the vengeance.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: So we need to be reminded of that.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And how do we do that?
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: We can't give the grace card if we're not in communication with God.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: We have to give it to God, and we do that through prayer and through consistency.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, that's a great verse.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: I love this verse too.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, and we also need to be reminded that we are not responsible for other people's actions or reactions, they are responsible for themselves.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: We are responsible for ourselves.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: And when we get to heaven and God has the judgment judgment seat of Christ.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's not gonna be every Christian, I don't think.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Um all in a group.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: I think it's going to be individual.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: And so I do believe that there is proof, one proof at least, that we are not responsible for other people's actions or reactions.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: We are just responsible for ourselves, and so that's why to consistency in prayer for ourselves is important.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that we just need to pray for ourselves and that's it, but you know um being responsible for ourselves and not worrying about others um in that in that way.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: So um now as we continue on looking at verses, we have um two more verses that we're gonna look at in this episode.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: And one of those is Zephaniah three verse seventeen Zephaniah three verse seventeen.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: He will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: He will rest in his love.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: He will joy over thee with singing.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: I love that verse because it it's another one of those personal verses.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: And that's not to say that it was just for the time period that Zephaniah was living in, I do believe it is for today too, and so we can be encouraged and strengthened and confident in our consistency in prayer, because just as we said a lot, that God is the same today as he was back in Bible days, back during that time when all those experiences took place.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: God is the same today, and so we can be assured, we can be uplifted and confident in what the Lord has said in his word.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: We can be strengthened that just as he was then he is now he is right where you're at in your situation right now and he will not change Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: And Jesus was the physical embodiment of God while he was here, and so just as that verse talks about Jesus, you can interchange that with God and have confidence that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: And he's been that way since the beginning of time, and he will continue to be that way in eternity as well, and so that is a wonderful assurance that we can have when we talk about consistency in prayer, and um I misspoke when I said um we only had two verses left after after this verse, after Zephaniah 317, we only have two verses left.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: So um, Mickey, do you have thoughts about this verse?
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: Um, not specifically.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, other than I love the fact that you know um he he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: God doesn't want to bring us misery.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: And I think sometimes because we we sometimes often only got to God only go to God when we're miserable.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: We think that that God only wants us to be miserable, you know, we God is a God of misery.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: He's not He's a God of joy and rejoicing, rest and peace and love.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: And I think we forget that way too often because we go through trials and tribulations.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: So we we forget, and this verse is a really good example of the God that we really have.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: It's not the God of misery, it is the God that that wants to rejoice, but he wants to rejoice with us and over us and for us.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: He wants us to rest in his love, he wants us to have um a joyful heart and to be singing and happy and joyful.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: And you can't do that if you're walking around in misery.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: You can't do that, and you can't do that if the only time you go to God is if it's something that you have to absolutely need or have to have or want because of your life is so bad, you know.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Not everything in life is bad.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: And and I I I heard someone say not so long ago that said if you just wake up and be thankful for one thing that day, God will start working on your mindset as far as the things that you're thankful for, and you won't be worried about all the things that aren't working out in your life if you learn to be thankful for what is.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: And um, the other thing I wanted to mention is we keep talking about um God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: And that that verse is actually Hebrews 13, says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to put that um emphasis on that scripture because we've been talking about it.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: And Jesus Jesus Christ doesn't change because he's not a respecter of persons.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: So even though we talked about, so I wanted to touch base with this real quick, we talked about you know, someone doing us wrong, right?
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: Someone wrongs us.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Well, God loves that person too, you know.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: And then the other thing I love that you said that we have to be responsible for ourselves.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when we go to prayer, I was thinking about this.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we when we go and pray, God shows us that we might have been the start of the problem that that that occurred to begin with.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: He may say, Well, you may need to go back and correct a couple things, or you know, or maybe you're right and I'm gonna take care of it.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: I think God will also show you things when you go to God in prayer.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes we get we get offended really easily and we think, oh, this person wronged me right off the bat.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: And it necessarily wasn't them wronging you.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Um it might have been um something, maybe they were reacting to what to you, you know, sometimes for the start and the cause of um, you know, whatever the situation can be.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: So I love that you said that being responsible for yourself, when you go to God and you before you be responsible in that prayer life, God will show you too where you've messed up and and where you know vengeance is gonna be his.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes we make our our own mistakes and we think, oh, I didn't do anything wrong.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: It was all them, it's all their fault, you know?
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: It was them, them, them, never me, me, me.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: And then you go to God and goes, God goes, oh really?
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: And you weren't part of this?
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, what about this part right here?
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: And he starts, you know, revealing some things to you.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: And then you'll be really thankful.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: I know this for a fact.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: There's been times where I didn't have a knee-jerk reaction to something that bothered me or upset me uh from what somebody said, and I gave it to God, and God showed me that I was part of the problem.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad I didn't react to the problem because I would have just made a bigger fool of myself, you know.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: So that's another reason we need to not have that quick reaction to every single thing.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: So one part of my critical intelligence that I'm learning about is that before you speak or react, always think.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people do the opposite.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: They speak, they react, and then they go back and think on it.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: It's it's reversed.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: God wants us to do the same thing.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: That's a principle that God has for us.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: That's why he says, bring it to me.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: Because that makes us put a time gap in the situation where we're going to God and getting some confirmation from him.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: He's gonna confirm it in our heart.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: If we're right, he's gonna confirm it.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: If we're wrong, he's gonna confirm it, he's gonna convict us.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: So, um, and we do that by stopping, not not arguing with the person, not fighting with the person, giving them the grace, or giving them the space even to walk away and go take it to God.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's just a space.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: You know, it may not be, it may not still be settled, but it's a space that you've given them, and then they have time to reflect, and you have time to reflect on the situation.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: And then you get a chance to realize maybe they weren't always all wrong, and maybe it was a little bit you, or maybe it wasn't them.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was all you, maybe it was all them and none of you, you know.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: So we can work on those areas as you sit with God, those things are gonna come to the come to light, and he's gonna show you those things.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: And I I I firmly believe that because I feel like God shows me that when I go to God and I'm frustrated, I'm like, oh man, just you know, I'm just like one of I want to, you know, I really want to throw pun somebody right now, you know, and God's like, okay, enough of that, you know, and he has this little pep talk with me.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: I think that we all need that, but if we go to God with a joyful heart and we stop thinking about all of the naysayers and the negativity, and we remember that God is the Zephaniah 3.17 God, the God that's mighty, and He wants to give, He wants to rejoice over us, and He wants to give us joy in it and bring us rest and peace.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: It's funny because when we go to God, we're like, oh, we're we're so miserable, right?
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: And He's like, I just want you to take a nap.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: Can you just get some peace?
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Let's have some peace, you know?
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: And um put on some worship music, sing a song, praise God, praise God in the storm.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Look how much David in Psalms praised God in the storm.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: So I didn't I didn't mean to drag that out, but I just I I felt like that was important to say.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: So yes, yes.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: Very much.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: So yes, that's excellent, excellent.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: So now as we come to um this next verse Colossians one Colossians one verse eleven says strengthened with all might according to his glorious power unto all patience and all suffering with joyfulness at worse sounds pretty happy and cheerful and which rightfully so.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: But you know, just as Mickey rightfully mentioned so much of the time it seems like we go to God with heart ends and with you know feeling discouraged and all of that.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: And so we need to be reminded who God is and I guess why that consistency in prayer is so important because God does want to show us his might.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: God does want to uphold us and uplift us and rescue us from Satan's grip.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: It's not that we intentionally, you know, do something to get into Satan's crib.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: But how often do we find ourselves there and we know that it's because Satan is wanting us and yet the Lord is wanting to set us free from that and so looking at that verse strengthened with all might according to his glorious power again it has nothing to do with how much strength we have how much you know endurance, how much of that I'm just going to push through and know again as we've mentioned, I think on this episode that God understands that we are not strong enough within our own strength to defeat Satan.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Um I think it's Luke eleven twenty-eight, I think.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: Um the end of the verse.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Jesus says, Without me, ye can do nothing.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: And how true that is.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: And consistency in prayer shows us that.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: I do believe that the more we're consistent in prayer, the more we will see our need of that lifeline.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: The more we will want to desire that, the more we will understand that we cannot go throughout any day or any overnight without the Lord.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: And so even that should be an encouragement to us.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, do you have any thoughts on that?
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: I like that Paul, this is Paul, by the way, in Colossians 1.11.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: This is Paul that's praying.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: He's praying that believers will receive divine energy to endure um difficult situations with patience and joy.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: Imagine patience for just a minute.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: How impatient the we live in a very impatient world.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: And here's Paul praying for this divine energy with with which with mean which means the strengthened with all might.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: That's the divine energy he's praying for.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: With all your might, you know, according to his glorious power, God's glorious power.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: He's praying that we can have patience and joy while enduring the suffering, while going through it.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: And um another thing I want to point out in the scripture um is it's according to his glory and power, not according to ours.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: So again, when you were talking about earlier about the time frame and Satan, how he wants to rush it.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: Well, if God's not answering your prayer, then he must not be.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: He's not on your side, he doesn't love you, he doesn't care.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: You know, he and Satan puts those those lies in your head, you know, and he wants you to believe that it's according to his glorious power that he gives that strength to us in the situation that we're in, you know, and he also gives us, I uh I honestly believe God also gives us his glorious power based on how we are reacting to the situation.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: You know, are we are we being patient?
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: Are we being joyful in the situation?
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Or are we having a tantrum and throwing a fit?
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: Well, he's gonna he's gonna let you have your have your will and you're gonna have your little pity party, but it's gonna probably be a little longer before he just empowers you, you know.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: He's like, Well, if you're gonna act like that, then I'm gonna wait a little while until you mature enough to handle the power that I want to give you, you know.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: We have to mature as Christians and be at a certain maturity level.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: Um, but he has glorious power for us.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: And we miss out on that power because we sit and and and banter over the the long-suffering part.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: We take the long-suffering part and we make that the problem instead of focusing in on, hey, you know, I'm just going to be patient.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: In the midst of this, I'm just going to be happy and I'm just going to, I'm just going to, you know, go along for the ride, you know?
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: No matter what happens to God, I'm just going to trust you.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: God can empower you through that.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: But if you're hanging on to the long-suffering part and that's all you're holding on to, you're not going to gain that strength that God wants you to have.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: He wants you to have abundant strength.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: You know, like Paul is saying here, he wants believers to receive the divine energy, to endure during the in different difficult situations and be patient with it.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: He wants us to endure that.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: We cannot endure that though if we are only looking at that one word, the long-suffering word.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: So it's really good that we're talking about the scripture because you have to look at the whole scripture, not just the one word.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: And um and I think sometimes we do that in the Bible period when it comes to talking about the truth.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: We we we isolate one word and we we get fixated on it and that becomes our our our ministry.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: That's not our ministry.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Our ministry is the whole word.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: That's where truth be told comes in it comes from is we have to tell the whole truth nothing but the truth everything but the truth you know you know we have to be sworn in sworn in with it.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: But we we kind of want to we want to cut pieces out of the truth and just stick to one thing.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: And then we use that as our excuse for our behavior.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: And that is big because I know for myself like when sometimes I've gone through things and I'm boohooing on someone's shoulder or whatever and and I'm like being impatient and I'm not feeling very happy about the situation.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: It's because I'm looking at that one word.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: But as soon as you go two words over to to the word joyfulness it changes my whole perspective of the whole scripture.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: It makes me look at it in a different light.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: And that's what Paul's trying to say here.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: He wants you to have God's divine energy but you have to have patience and joy while you're in the suffering.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: So I think it's important that we understand that.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: And when we do that it'll help us to mature and it'll change our behavior.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: We won't sit around feeling sorry for ourselves.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: We won't have that victim you know mindset anymore.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: We'll we will lean more towards becoming victorious in the situation, getting through it.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Instead of you know sometimes we sit in our we sit in our pity because we we don't want to get out of it.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: We just want to stay in it because we're stuck in the long suffering.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Because we're not we we won't go one word over to the joyfulness.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: It's literally one word away you know and I I it's crazy when I look at that scripture how how close those two words are together but yet how destroyed people operate without not putting the two together.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: We bring on our own self-destruction I believe sometimes but this right here tells us how to how to deal with that you know especially when we're talking and with prayer and that's why Paul is praying this for that divine energy and that divine might that he's asking for so that's I just wanted to put that out there.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: So hopefully that makes sense yes yes very much and so our final verse that we will look at today and we've looked at this verse in previous episodes too but it it's one of those those verses that just help in various situations and one of those verses that just really solidifies for me at least the importance of consistency in prayer.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: And that verse is Hebrews 4 and verse 16 which says let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need so often when we're going through things whether it be physical or you know other things that come up and all that what is sometimes our first instinct maybe it's to go to others and to share with others what happened or you know and you know sharing with others for for them to intercede in prayer is one thing but it's another thing to go to others and for the reaction of them you know to maybe get their opinion Hebrews force it seemed let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace why to obtain mercy and grace and grace to help and time why because humanity is not capable of doing what only God can do.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: You know we I wonder sometimes if we go to each other more than we go to God because we can see the other people we know that they're there and yeah I think we do need to be careful that we don't just we lie on other people's opinions and so staying consistent in prayer again is that lifeline we need.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: We are to come boldly not to be intimidated or fearful or anything like that.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: But and it's not because God is not aware of things he's aware of things it's for our benefit He does truly have unlimited time for each one of us.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: We are the ones who rush him we are the ones who maybe expect him to always work on our timetable and we tend to give in to Satan and when the answer isn't as quick as we would like and that shoe needs to be for another episode at least one um and so yeah as we finish up this episode with part two of being consistent let's understand that God does want us to come to him there's nothing off limits with him ever.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: Anything that we feel is off limits that's Satan trying to influence us and we are to resist the devil we are to submit to God James 47 submit yourselves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee from you and so Mickey do you have any closing thoughts as we wrap up this episode again I can say that um I we've used this verse a lot and it's a great verse um you know so for good reason but the throne of grace is not just a place of judgment it's a place of it's a it's a source of mercy and strength needed for specific challenging times.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: And we need to approach it confidently that's what boldly means is to be confident in yourself.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: And some people might think of boldly like charging in like a boulder.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: No it's having confidence within yourself to to go to the throne of grace um and ask and talk to God.
- 55:50SPEAKER_00: God wants us to be confident in having a conversation with him he doesn't want us to be timid and afraid and scared um in having a conversation with him.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you I don't there's there's times in my life where I've met people that I couldn't approach them because they intimidated me.
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: God doesn't want that ever.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: He is not that kind of a God.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: He's not going to do anything to try to intimidate you anyway.
- 56:15SPEAKER_00: We get that because the enemy does that.
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: Even sometimes with people the enemy will make us feel intimidated by people but God gave us the same strength as everybody else he gave us the same the the same word is offered to every single one of us as it is to the next person.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: And so when we think about the throne of grace we're not going there.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we think we're going to oh gosh we got to go there and we got to you know yes we we need to repent we need to you know if we've been misbehaving we need to straighten up and that kind of stuff but it's not just about judgment.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: It's not about oh you you're being bad it you know it's it's coming to him confidently and and asking him for things.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: It's okay to ask God for the desires of your heart.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: The Bible says it's okay to do that.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: You should ask him before you ask anybody else.
- 57:03SPEAKER_00: Before you want that raise at work go ask God.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: Before you want that new car that new house or you want to get in that relationship or that marriage or you want to you know buy your kids a brand new phone or whatever it is that you're wanting to do go ask God first.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: God will confirm things in your heart.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: God will also convict your heart if it's not a good idea God'll show you why God'll God God reveals himself.
- 57:27SPEAKER_00: He doesn't stay hidden away we are the ones that hide God away he doesn't hide away from us.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: And we need to bring God boldly you know out um you know as we're sharing the truth as we're sharing the gospels um we need people to understand who God is that we that we are serving.
- 57:48SPEAKER_00: You know and as we're serving one another and we're helping each other um through love and mercy and grace God is going to show us all of that he's going to give us all of that we that by going to him but we have to be confident in going to him and being like Lord this is where I'm at you he already knows where you're at you you can't surprise him.
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: It's not like you're going to be like surprise you know that's not the kind of God that we serve.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: So um I think again going back to our mindset we need to we need to realize who it is that we're talking to so when we go to God boldly we go confidently and we need to know that it's not just for a good thrashing it's good it's good to go when you know because God is going to bring us that mercy.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: He's going to give us that strength he's going to help us in those challenging times.
- 58:37SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: He wants to sometimes I used to think that it was a burden to pray to God.
- 58:43SPEAKER_00: I used to be like oh I'm not going to keep asking God for this because he's going to get mad at me what a horrible way to feel that is such a lie from the enemy the enemy used to always tell me he doesn't want to hear your prayers he's had enough of you wow you know I mean that is not the God we serve.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: God wants us to bring in all to the table all of it you know and there's nothing that we can hide from God.
- 59:08SPEAKER_00: We can sweep under the rug we can shove in a we we can't hide nothing from him.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: So why why do it why do we need to stop doing that and just go to him and and and I guarantee you like I said in in in our last episode and I don't know where you're at with that with our last episode did you did you take on the challenge?
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Did you sit with God for the week?
- 59:30SPEAKER_00: Are you praying?
- 59:31SPEAKER_00: Are you asking him?
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Are you being consistent?
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Because I want to continue that challenge.
- 59:36SPEAKER_00: I want to continue um and bring you into that because we need to recognize and know who this God is that we're we're we're talking about in the Bible who we're serving.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we serve ourselves.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: We're so busy serving ourselves that we forget got who God is.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: That's why we don't ask God hey is it okay if I have the new car?
- 59:57SPEAKER_00: Is this a good idea?
- 59:58SPEAKER_00: And God doesn't care if you want the car or not it's not even about the car.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: He if you like that car and that's what you want in the means if if it's feasible but going to him and asking him he's going to bless you in that there's blessings in the prayer there's so many promises in the word of God that we do not get because we do not go and ask for we don't go and say God can you bless me in this area your blessing it says you'll bless me in this area will bless me in this area.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: Tell me what to do so you so I can have this blessing.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: And he will literally show you he will he'll he'll put something so visibly in your face that you can you can't say it's anything but God.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_00: I mean I've had it happen time and time and time again where God was so relevant that there was no other explanation for it.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_00: And some people say how are you so sure and I said I've seen God work in my life like where no other way could have happened.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: There's no other way it could have happened.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_00: He made himself relevant.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: And so I just want to encourage our listeners today to to go boldly to the throne don't crawl and creep and be like oh God here I am again here I am again no go boldly be confident go have a good conversation with God.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: Be like hey God you know this is how it's going today and I want to talk to you about I want to tell you my day I want to tell you my story I want to tell you you know this guess what God this happened today and you know he wants to hear everything.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_00: He wants to communicate with you.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_00: That's what communion is he wants to communicate with you.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_00: He shed his blood and his body for the sake of communion with you.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_00: Think about that he got rid of all of his flesh to have a personal relationship with you.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_00: That's pretty mighty if you ask me that's pretty bold of him to do that.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_00: He was bold for me.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_00: The least I could do is be bold for him you know because he's done so much more for me than I could I mean I I can I can never repay the debt that he paid ever.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: It's not feasible because I'm a human being and he's supernatural but we need to sit at the throne of God and we need to go consistently daily throughout the day morning and night get consistent.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_00: Like you said Bethany in your in in their last episode it's changed stuff even in your life just by getting up every day and going to bed every day but praying first.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_00: Pray when you get up first pray before you go to bed first that prayer is so important.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_00: And we do forget to do that.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_00: We get so busy with ourselves and go and that's the enemy he's pushing you past your time limit he's piling more on your plate so that you're so busy you don't have time to think about God.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: Oh but I always forget you know I forget too sometimes but then I go and I repent and then I go back and I have my conversation with God.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: And that's what we need to be doing.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_00: We need to be in constant prayer that's consistency and constance are the same similar things.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_00: They're similar you need to be constant.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_00: So it's really what a great lesson we had today.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: This was really good.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_00: I love Hebrews 4 16 it's one of my very favorite verses I use it often in in my other podcasts I use it often when I talk to people I tell people to go boldly before God take their issues their their their testimonies their hurt their pain their struggle you know I can help somebody all day long as a life coach and so can you because we both are coaches and we help people and we lead people through the word of God.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_00: But I'm going to tell you what works even more powerful God has given us a power because he's in us but the power you'll get by going to God yourself is even bigger.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: Our direction is to take you there.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_00: That's where we want Bethany and I Bethany I want to take all of our listeners to the point where they go to the throne by themselves because like you said on judgment day it's not a group of us it's not going to be me and you stand in there.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_00: It's going to be me.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_00: It's going to be you and we're not going to I'm not going to be able to look at Bethany and go, well do you think we were going to do you think we did this right you know I'm going to have to answer to God for what he thinks I did right or I didn't do right.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_00: I can't I can't account for you and you can't account for me.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_00: I know we would like to do that sometimes kind of shift the accountants level you know but it doesn't work that way God made us accountable for ourselves because he took account for us on the cross every single one of us.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_00: So let's keep that in mind today.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: So Bethany do you want to close this out so powerful so very powerful and if for those watching whenever they watch you can reach out to either Mickey or myself and we both have places on our website for if you need prayer or if you have a question or anything reach out to us.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: Our information is in the show notes I believe and so we would love to connect with you we would love to uplift you and to lead you we call ourselves coaches and yet for me personally I do believe that I am a guide as well and maybe maybe that term guide is more secular than Christian.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: But I know for myself and I know for Mickey that we both want to just lead you to God.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_01: And in this age of technology advancements, there's no excuse.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: The only excuse is if someone doesn't have internet connection and even there, you know, they wouldn't be able to watch this.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: And so there's no excuse.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_01: Um God knows what he wants us to come to him anytime.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: There's no time that he doesn't want us to come to him.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: And so thank you all for this taking your time to watch this.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_01: May it be a blessing, may it be an encouragement, may you take us up on the challenge because I know for myself, as I said, you know doing that routine now I'm probably three months into it right now.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: And it is truly revolutionized.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_01: I'm able to see spiritually see more clearly now that I know that Satan is being restrained.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_01: That God is protecting me and so yes so we thank you for tuning in to this episode and we look forward to um continuing on with truth be told because there's so much within God's word and so Mickey do you have any final thoughts?
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_00: Just before we say goodbye, just want to let you know you can go to create it in his image or crushingstrongholds dot com and you'll find our information there.

- 1:09:27SPEAKER_00: Bethany and I both offer coaching programs and um we have a lot of stuff in the works coming up so we'll be sharing that here soon.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_00: And we do want to guide you what not not just guide you but we are to disciple.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: We are to be discipled and we are to disciple others.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_00: As we grow and learn we're supposed to help others grow and learn and so maybe coach isn't the the maybe the correct terminology for you know what we all do.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_00: It's it's pretty it's a pretty um thrown around word actually we all do it but um being a disciple and being discipled is such a valuable thing.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: It takes you to such a higher level with the Lord that you will not even know.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_00: I myself personally I don't know about Bethany I have been coached I've had I've had many coaches in my life and um I've grown immensely because of them and I've been in dark places I've been in hardships I've had some struggles and um I needed that little push from the one person that had already been discipled that started discipling me that was willing to take me under their wing and show me what they thought would be best for me and how they could help me.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_00: And it did help me and I grew quite a bit so I do encourage coaching because um I know that it does help you individually to be a better person.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_00: If if anything else you will get that out of it.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_00: And I and I know that there's a lot of reward to coaching.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_00: So look into it dive into it and see if you're interested and let us know because we're both here for that we both want to help and we both want to help disciple.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_00: So um with that being said um I'll wrap up with um I hope you all have a good day and we we love you.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_00: And if you do need prayer don't forget to reach out because we want to pray for you.
