- 0:28Oh yes, I don't sleep. I'm joking.
- 0:30I do sometimes. Guys, what's going on?
- 0:31Welcome back. If you're new around here, I
- 0:33have a free Autism Wifeax PDF book you can download now from
- 0:36autismhacks.net. Completely free.
- 0:38The link is down below. So sensory Processing disorder.
- 0:41What is it? So Sensory processing disorder,
- 0:44sometimes called SPD, is a form of different types of sensory
- 0:49hyper or hyposensitivities to sensory environments.
- 0:52And this is third party stimuli. So this could be that you are
- 0:57told different lights, you could be in a an amusement arcade, a
- 0:59light too bright or flickering and it's really causing you
- 1:02harm. Or there is a an event going on
- 1:05and the noise is too loud. Even could be walking through a
- 1:07mall and the noise is too loud and making you cover your ears.
- 1:10Now sensory processing disorder comes comorbidly with autism and
- 1:14autism is a neurological developmental condition which
- 1:17actually has a bunch of different things Co occurring.
- 1:19Could be like ADHD, could be OCD, all kinds of stuff.
- 1:22Now I have sensory processing disorder myself and it is very
- 1:26interesting that mind is like texture and smell based and
- 1:30sound based. But sometimes you can be also
- 1:32hyposensitive, so a person could be less sensitive or more
- 1:37sensitive to something. It's really quite interesting
- 1:39and sometimes you can have a combination of both.
- 1:41So someone could be like hypersensitive to sound but
- 1:44hypersensitive to taste so they could like have to block out
- 1:47loads of sound even if it's like the the the lowest sound ever
- 1:50likes you know a mouse sticking a fart in the next room and he
- 1:53could be like really sensitive to that sound.
- 1:55However you could sit and eat like spicy food until the cows
- 1:58come home because it just effects people on the autism
- 2:01spectrum differently. Now up to date I've not really
- 2:03come across many people who have just a sensory processing
- 2:06disorder diagnosis. It's usually Co occurring with
- 2:08like autism or ADHD. Now sensory processing disorder
- 2:12can be very debilitating and I know for me when I was doing my
- 2:15degree in chemistry, you have to do a bunch of other stuff 1st.
- 2:17And we were analyzing onion skin under a microscope and I
- 2:21remember being in the room with cut onions and I couldn't be
- 2:25there because I'm really sensitive to the smell of
- 2:27onions. I'm really sensitive to the
- 2:28smell of garlic as well. So I can't be in the room with
- 2:31those things, which makes it very difficult for me to cook
- 2:34because how can I cook when they're the basis of pretty much
- 2:36every meal, right. So it's really difficult and it
- 2:39can be very challenging. But that being said, there are
- 2:41so many things to help overcome. I mean, even the Life Hacks book
- 2:44that I've linked down below for free, I have some sensory
- 2:47processing hacks in there that will help people who are sent
- 2:50hypersensitive to certain things like, you know, tags on the back
- 2:53of the back of the shirt or even seams, the socks.
- 2:56All those things are subject processing issues.
- 2:58I'd love to know your opinions and your input on it.
- 3:00Pop in the comment down below, give this video a shave if you
- 3:03think it can help somebody and I'll see you in the next on
- 3:04guys. Peace.
