- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So I want to ask you a question
- 0:32about making excuses, because for me, this is something that I
- 0:38know inherently. I do it myself.
- 0:41We all do it. We're all trained to do it.
- 0:44From the time where kids, there are certain triggers in the
- 0:47world that caused this to come up.
- 0:50And making excuses is a black hole.
- 0:53It's a vortex that you can't get out of.
- 0:56You become, you know, sucked into it regularly because you're
- 1:00nobody wants to take accountability.
- 1:02God forbid we actually take accountability for our actions,
- 1:06But even more than our actions, Ooh, it sucks when we have to
- 1:09take accountability for the outcomes we have in our life
- 1:12because we don't want to say, hey, it's because of me, hey,
- 1:15it's because I showed how I showed up.
- 1:17Hey, it's because of the choices I've made.
- 1:19We just say, hey, this is because I I did this, I did
- 1:23this, I did this. And then that was the result of
- 1:26it. And we look at it like, yeah, I
- 1:28made the decision to move to the new company.
- 1:31But you know they told me XY and Z.
- 1:35And the truth is that that that probably is very accurate.
- 1:38That's what happened. And maybe you were lied to and
- 1:41maybe somebody told you information that was not
- 1:43accurate, maybe somebody LED you to believe something was going
- 1:47to be different. But ultimately, ultimately, they
- 1:49are not responsible. You are responsible because at
- 1:53any point in time when you saw things coming, when you heard
- 1:57the shifts, when you maybe didn't do the due diligence, you
- 2:00should have when you didn't, look at the people in the
- 2:02company individually, do the research, see who you would be
- 2:05working with and for. And I'm using that as an
- 2:09example, but this goes across the board.
- 2:11It doesn't matter if it's a personal relationship or a
- 2:13business relationship. Ultimately, we have the
- 2:17responsibility of accountability.
- 2:20And it's not just for our actions, but it's for the
- 2:23outcomes of the actions. So if you are in a position
- 2:28right now in your life where you're looking at the conditions
- 2:31around you and you're like, I don't like them, it's really
- 2:34easy to turn around and say, well, it's because of this or
- 2:37it's because of this external factor.
- 2:41It's really difficult to stop and pause and say, Nope, this is
- 2:45because of me. This is because of something I
- 2:47did. This is because of how I show
- 2:49up. Let's say that you find yourself
- 2:52in a position where you're not as healthy as you want to be and
- 2:55you know you're not healthy, but you don't do anything about it.
- 2:58And every day, day after day after day after day, you make
- 3:01excuses for not going to the gym or not eating better or making
- 3:06unhealthy choices when you do eat.
- 3:09And those unhealthy choices really start to show up in your
- 3:13body and then all of a sudden you find yourself with something
- 3:17simple like high blood pressure. And you know, high blood
- 3:20pressure can be controlled with a pill.
- 3:23But the reality is if you have high blood pressure, there are
- 3:26underlying conditions that 90% of the time you are responsible
- 3:33for because it's has to do with weight and diet.
- 3:36That is a fact. Weight, diet and exercise, those
- 3:38three things are really the driving factor.
- 3:41So then you do, you know, you're too busy during the week to work
- 3:44out. You're too busy to even walk.
- 3:46You're too busy to put on a Fitbit and try to figure out how
- 3:49many steps you're taking. You're too busy to go and
- 3:52actually make shakes for lunch or pack them ahead of time.
- 3:55So you just end up eating whatever is there, whatever is
- 3:57available anywhere you go. And before you know it, that
- 4:01high blood pressure leads to having a heart attack.
- 4:06And then you say, oh, I don't know what happened.
- 4:07I had a heart attack. Well, no, you did.
- 4:09You had the warnings all along. You just didn't want to heed
- 4:12them. And this is where the black hole
- 4:15comes in. This is where it just sucks you
- 4:17in and in this society the way we are right now.
- 4:22I will tell you, accountability is something that is so missing.
- 4:27Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything.
- 4:30Everybody wants to pass the buck and put it out there and say,
- 4:34hey, you know, it's not me, it's something else.
- 4:38And it's so conditioned. Even I find it easy to say I can
- 4:43make an excuse and get away with it right now because society has
- 4:47made it that simple and it takes really, really hard mental work
- 4:52to say I will not participate in that reality.
- 4:55We create a reality. We create our reality.
- 5:00Hear me say that. We create our reality.
- 5:02So if we want to create a better reality, we have to have better
- 5:05thoughts, we have to have better actions.
- 5:07We have to have better beliefs. We have to act into it
- 5:11differently. And if you are creating excuses
- 5:14anywhere in your life, and I know you are because I do it
- 5:16too. Everybody does.
- 5:17This is not a oh I'm so I'm beyond that.
- 5:20No, you don't understand. I don't make excuses.
- 5:23Bullshit. Everybody does it.
- 5:25I do it myself and it doesn't make, it doesn't make a
- 5:29difference if you believe it or you don't believe it.
- 5:31It's a reality. And we have to monitor it and
- 5:33say, OK, sure, a few excuses here and there.
- 5:37I get it. It's just part of the human
- 5:39condition. It's part of being human.
- 5:41It's our humanness coming through.
- 5:43But the truth is we have to look at it and we have to hold the
- 5:47line and we have to stop ourselves because if we don't,
- 5:50nobody else will. And if we don't take
- 5:52responsibility for what we have going on and we don't take
- 5:55responsibility for what we are creating on a consistent basis
- 5:59and look at it and say no, you know, I'm not OK with this.
- 6:02I'm not OK with being treated by like this by my partner.
- 6:05I'm not OK being treated like this by my family.
- 6:08I'm I'm not OK doing all this. And the reason it's all
- 6:12happening is because you're letting it happen.
- 6:16You're the one that's letting it happen, you know, Maya Angelou
- 6:19is has a quote about, you know, we teach people how to treat us.
- 6:24Yes, we do. Yes, we do.
- 6:26By our actions, by what we allow.
- 6:28Well, by what we disallow, by how we show up in those moments,
- 6:31everything in this human experience that we are having.
- 6:35Because I truly believe that we are spiritual beings, having a
- 6:38human experience to teach us things.
- 6:42It is all about that. It is all about that.
- 6:45We create it all. So you have to stop and pause
- 6:49and put a a sense of reality around it and tell yourself I'm
- 6:54going to have a real good come to Jesus meeting with myself
- 6:57about where this is showing up and don't lie to yourself
- 7:00because it happens. It happens to me.
- 7:02I made an excuse the other day saying oh I I didn't get a
- 7:05chance to take care of that dealing with all the stuff that
- 7:07I need to for paperwork because I hate doing paperwork.
- 7:09I know you guys have heard that before.
- 7:11When I've told you that on the podcast before.
- 7:13I don't like doing paperwork. It's just not my thing to sit
- 7:16still and in front of a computer.
- 7:18And I made an excuse and you know, I would.
- 7:22I'm aware of it. I I'm here to admit it.
- 7:24I made an excuse. I just said, you know, it's not.
- 7:27I'm not in the mood to do it. I feel like I have a headache.
- 7:29My back hurts. I just don't.
- 7:31I can't concentrate. No, it wasn't that I couldn't
- 7:33concentrate. I didn't want to.
- 7:36I just didn't want to. So tell the truth, don't make
- 7:39the excuse. Be honest with yourself and then
- 7:41shift because that's the only way we're all going to make
- 7:45headway. So I know this was a kick ass
- 7:48one today, but I need you to pay attention to this piece because
- 7:51if you're ever going to get yourselves to a place you want
- 7:53to be and thrive, you got to be honest with yourself about this
- 7:56stuff. So no more going down this
- 7:58excuse route without being aware of it.
- 8:01Sure, you're going to do it anyway.
- 8:02And I know you're going to make excuses because I'm going to do
- 8:04it because that's just the human condition.
- 8:07But it's do it and be aware of it, OK?
- 8:09I adore you guys. I hope you have a fabulous day
- 8:12and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
