- 0:06Hello and hello and welcome to a very special episode of What Do
- 0:12You Call It Podcast. I'm your host GB.
- 0:16Today's guest is a former two time TNA Knockouts World Tag
- 0:20Team Champion. Please welcome the wild child
- 0:23Jodie Threat. Jodie, how you doing this
- 0:25morning? As confirmed in the.
- 0:27Yeah, good morning for me. I guess afternoon for you.
- 0:30I'm good. I've had my coffee, so we're
- 0:32ready to go. Nice nice, I've had a few
- 0:35coffees today, quite excited but I think this might be a
- 0:39highlight for me. But unfortunately, sadly, we did
- 0:41see Spitfire disband as a result of a pre match stipulation at
- 0:46Under Siege. And I want to discuss with you
- 0:48this great tag team with Danny Luna first because I know you've
- 0:52not a teamed with her, but you've actually wrestled each
- 0:55other as well in TNA. So tell me first of all about
- 0:58her as an opponent. Danny Luna, in my opinion, is
- 1:04one of the best wrestlers in the world and the world doesn't know
- 1:07it yet, which makes her super dangerous because people go in
- 1:13there, you know, not realizing what she's capable of.
- 1:17She's underrated and I honestly cannot wait for the world to see
- 1:22what she's capable of because I know what she's capable of, but
- 1:26I I feel like she hasn't been given the stage yet to see what
- 1:29she's really capable of. I, I think she's tremendous.
- 1:32I remember seeing that progress TNA and you can just say there
- 1:37was, there was something there and time.
- 1:39I think she's quite early in the career, but she really is
- 1:41shining in the TNA in my opinion.
- 1:44I think so too, and it's only going to get more more evident
- 1:48as how good she is and I can't wait.
- 1:52And tell me about her as A tag team partner.
- 1:59No supportive, someone that understands give and take and
- 2:06someone that I just vibed with so well inside and outside the
- 2:10ring. Our friendship got to a point
- 2:14where we can look at each other and be be able to communicate
- 2:18and, and not say a word and know what we need to do.
- 2:20And obviously that translates very well in the ring when
- 2:23you're wrestling and like opponents, you, you just kind of
- 2:27read each other and know each other so well.
- 2:30Exactly exact. And I think that's why we had so
- 2:32much success so early on in our pairing.
- 2:38You know, she, she had my back, I had her back.
- 2:42And I think that like our, our strengths and weaknesses really
- 2:46complemented each other. We always laughed.
- 2:48We describe like her sort of style as like she's strong and
- 2:52brawly, whereas I'm brawly and strong.
- 2:54So it's like almost like perfect, you know what I mean?
- 2:58And I'm really excited for her to run as a solo wrestler, even
- 3:03though it breaks my heart and even though she's acting weird
- 3:06lately, you know, maybe she's just hungry, but I think it's
- 3:10it's time for her to shine. And like I said, I've known for
- 3:13a long time what she's capable of.
- 3:16And yeah, I'm excited for the world to see.
- 3:20Your team made a good pairing and I thought you jailed well
- 3:23and also there were compliments told me about winning the TNA
- 3:26Knockouts the World Tag Team Championship and being 2024 TNA
- 3:31Knockouts Tag Team of the Year. Again, we kind of got together
- 3:37and won very quickly and and to be able to do that with a real
- 3:42life best friend, I don't know if a lot of people know, but
- 3:45we're like real life best friends.
- 3:47She's I would consider her a sister and I would literally
- 3:51kill for her. Just saying.
- 3:55So to be able to do that and to go on that journey with someone
- 3:57that is in real life a best friend, it was just so special
- 4:01winning it. The second time was actually on
- 4:03my birthday and that was a really sick birthday present.
- 4:07And again, to be able to do that with my best friend and to be.
- 4:10Able to address the hangover. Yeah, no, no, no, just off of
- 4:14Doctor Pepper. We love our Doctor Pepper, but
- 4:19yeah, it was fucking great. Awesome, awesome.
- 4:24You had quite the feud with the Elegance brand led by Ash by
- 4:27Elegance, unfortunately, who recently retired.
- 4:29So tell me about this rivalry. I think the listeners would
- 4:32definitely want to hear about this because it went on for
- 4:34quite a while. Yeah, and I think Ash hasn't
- 4:37necessarily retired. She just needed to take a step
- 4:39away to deal with some stuff. But for me, that was a very cool
- 4:45opportunity because it took me out of my shell, which is the
- 4:49kind of character that all four of those members, you know, Ash,
- 4:55George, Maggie and Heather, it, it's so different, starkly
- 5:04different to what Danny, Luna and I.
- 5:06And I feel like working with them allowed us to kind of
- 5:10express ourselves more and to kind of understand how to work
- 5:16with that sort of energy. And just I, I don't know if you
- 5:19guys ever watch like any of the, the, the vignettes that we kind
- 5:22of did with them or even like we had so much fun when we whooped
- 5:26them and they had to become our concierge.
- 5:29That was really fun. As much as it was challenging, I
- 5:35have to say that I really did enjoy it for the different
- 5:38aspect of wrestling. Like Danny, Luna and I are very
- 5:42much like, we're going to beat your butts in the ring, and we
- 5:46don't necessarily always get to express ourselves outside the
- 5:49Reagan. It gave us that opportunity and
- 5:51for me personally, I think it allowed me to grow as ATV
- 5:55character. Because I think you came up your
- 5:58shell, didn't you? So.
- 5:59I really did, yeah. See a different side of you and
- 6:02it works. You know it's.
- 6:03Yeah. Memorable.
- 6:05I actually enjoyed your bumps and bikes show.
- 6:07I had it released on YouTube. It was really fun and I thought
- 6:10it was really cool for you to allow fans to kind of be on this
- 6:13resting journey, that episode. Yeah, New York is really good.
- 6:16And backstage anniversary, you talked to Leon Slater.
- 6:19I can see you doing an episode. I'm looking forward to it in the
- 6:22UK because I know you're not a stranger to Great Britain.
- 6:25But also tell me about if you want to do an episode, where in
- 6:29the UK would you do it? I already know specifically in
- 6:34Cardiff in the market, there's a in the back Welsh cakes.
- 6:40There's I can't remember what the place is called.
- 6:42I know it. If you put me in that market in
- 6:44Cardiff, I will bring you there. That is where I would bring
- 6:48George the cameraman and I would show people.
- 6:52My favorite thing it literally in the UK are those fudge cakes.
- 6:56I love it. All the things in the UK,
- 6:58Cardiff fudge cakes and the cakes.
- 7:00Fair play. I I I think Cardiff's a wicked
- 7:02town, love. It it is.
- 7:03It is great wrestling too, Like very good wrestling there.
- 7:06Lots of good wrestlers come out of there too.
- 7:09That's it's good. It's good.
- 7:10It's got the good resting scene and I think Canada as well away
- 7:14you know where you've been based the Canadian wrestling scene.
- 7:18I think it's just such a history to it isn't there and it's
- 7:21still. I think So what I love about, I
- 7:24think like what kind of makes our two nations different than
- 7:28say, like America is because it's so hard for us to get to
- 7:32mainstream wrestling, which is like the American eyes.
- 7:35And so we work so hard and where we are.
- 7:39And I know like right now like it's specifically looking at the
- 7:42UK, like there's like the the new wave schools that are out
- 7:46there that are just popping out talented town.
- 7:48And we now have one in Canada. And we're just seeing that like
- 7:51cross nation sort of talent exchange.
- 7:55It's it's really cool. That's what.
- 7:58It's a parallel. It's.
- 8:00It's just the talent and the roster and it's been like that
- 8:03for a very long time with the everyone's background so
- 8:05different and it gives you that exposure.
- 8:07It's not just the North American wrestling.
- 8:09Oh, cool. UK, he's from there.
- 8:11Oh, I should want to check this out.
- 8:12And Canada, yeah, Mexico and Japan.
- 8:14And TNA is given that that opportunity and that exposure.
- 8:18Yeah. What I've got to ask is we've
- 8:19seen many crossover matches in both TNA and www.n XT due to
- 8:24this successful work relationship.
- 8:27I want to ask who would who else would you like to wrestle in
- 8:30NXT? Jordan Grace, I did not get my
- 8:34hands on her when we shared a locker room and I, I I want
- 8:38Jordan Grace period, but. Not being awesome match, I think
- 8:44yourself I think it would, it'd be just an easy match to watch
- 8:48because I think it's just guaranteed to be a good match.
- 8:51Or just fight or just go to war, I think is what will happen.
- 8:55And then sort of plug out articles, be like, that's great,
- 8:57let's do it again. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 9:00Awesome, awesome. Just one or two more questions
- 9:01because I know your time is very limited and I'm very
- 9:03appreciative of your time. Sure, of course.
- 9:07The TNA app. It's a great subscription based
- 9:10streaming service for TNA. Thousands and thousands of hours
- 9:14of on demand total non-stop action.
- 9:17If you could guide new fans involving matches that you've
- 9:21been a part of in your TNA career.
- 9:23What matches top of your head do you think?
- 9:25OK that's going to make them a Jodie Threat fan instantly on
- 9:30the TNA Plus app? That's a great question.
- 9:34I think there's a few like hidden relics in there.
- 9:42When we had Trinity, I had a match with her and I feel like
- 9:48it was a cute little match. I'm not saying it was like
- 9:52anything wild, but it was like, you know, a short little match
- 9:55that was really fun. I draw the attention there.
- 9:58I had like a little match with Dianna when she was with us too.
- 10:02But maybe even bringing it a bit more to like, like this year,
- 10:10that hardcore match we had with the Elegance, it was pretty
- 10:16wild. And I think would be a good
- 10:17watch too. They were like tables involved.
- 10:19And it was it was a bit of a spicy match and that was more of
- 10:23like A tag or was A tag team match.
- 10:26But I think that would be also a good example.
- 10:28And yeah, I think my greatest hits are to come.
- 10:33Like, I think that it's only been like this year that I've
- 10:35gotten my feet under me and TV, like I'm very much a, I came up
- 10:40in the Indies and the TV wrestling is a different beast.
- 10:44And it's taken me admittedly, a few years just to kind of get
- 10:48adjusted to this style. So I think what I'm pumping out
- 10:53now is better than what it was in the past.
- 10:56And I think my confidence is increased too.
- 11:00So I think really people need to keep their eyes on me for 2026.
- 11:05I agree. I don't think that's actually a
- 11:06great follow up. So my last question for you,
- 11:08Jodie Threat, please tell me what's next for you or what are
- 11:12you really eyeing up any personal goals in TNA 2026?
- 11:19I think it's cliche to say, but I'm going to say it anyway.
- 11:23I'm eyeing up that woman's knockout championship.
- 11:26I'm preparing myself in the areas that I compare, prepare
- 11:30that to prepare myself for when I get that opportunity.
- 11:34That being I'm training very closely with it like a boxing
- 11:39coach. I'm doing jiu jitsu a few times
- 11:42a week. I'm lifting heavy.
- 11:45We have our our wrestling school new wave, which I'm training at.
- 11:50So, and I'm getting those indie reps to make sure that any new
- 11:54tools that I'm bringing two TNA have been worked through and
- 11:58that I understand that they work and they will harm my opponents.
- 12:03So yeah, my eyes are on on the gold.
- 12:06And I think that if you're a wrestler, your eye should always
- 12:09be on the gold. So I promise you though, that
- 12:132026, you're going to see a new wild child, someone that's more
- 12:19confident and more ready. I believe it's going to happen,
- 12:22I really do. So you got my approval there and
- 12:26I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos as well on
- 12:28the heading for that. Brilliant by the way.
- 12:31But where can listeners find you on social media so they can keep
- 12:34up to date with you in the future?
- 12:36Yeah, please, basically Twitter, Instagram, just look up Jodie
- 12:41Threat, JODYTHREAT and you will find my stuff and any new stuff
- 12:47that is on YouTube, I will obviously advertise on my
- 12:50Instagram. I've been working very hard on
- 12:53my social media presence the last few years.
- 12:55And finally we are posting some of those projects.
- 12:58So I would recommend watch because I work very close with a
- 13:03guy named George, George Barboza.
- 13:05And like as you said, like his editing and his visions
- 13:09excellent. And we mesh really well too.
- 13:11So I'm excited for also what we'll be producing in 2026.
- 13:16It's going to be a big year 2026.
- 13:18I feel it, I do. And I hope you get the cakes as
- 13:20well in Cardiff, but I wish you nothing but the best in 2026.
- 13:24Thank you very much for your time.
- 13:25I'm looking forward to seeing Northwestern Journey continue.
- 13:28Thank you. If you can give Jody a follow,
- 13:30give me a follow on my social media handles.
- 13:32That'll be in the description below.
- 13:34But for now, everyone like this video, subscribe to the channel,
- 13:38but also have a great weekend. Just do that for me.
- 13:42Take care. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and
- 13:57girls, children of all ages, it's time for What Do You Call
