- 0:01Speaker 1: Mel became so curious about his hole you can even
- 0:05Speaker 1: say a whole obsession was born Jesus. So he started
- 0:10Speaker 1: to experiment with this whole, trying to answer the burning,
- 0:15Speaker 1: itching questions. How deep is it? Is it wet inside?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Was it clogged up with decades of waste? Or was
- 0:22Speaker 1: something paranormal happening to all the junk inside? All that
- 0:26Speaker 1: junkin is trump.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Mel was a simple man. He liked throwing shit in
- 0:34Speaker 2: a hole.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hi, Caitlin, Hi Cassie, Hi, creepy people, Hello, this is
- 0:44Speaker 1: PNW Hanson homicides. Today we're going to be talking about
- 0:49Speaker 1: a hole, but not just any old hole. This here
- 0:53Speaker 1: is Mel's hole. Shut up. Yes, So who is Mel?
- 0:58Speaker 1: And what is so dang special about it? Whole? Oh,
- 1:01Speaker 1: all right, you're gonna learn. February twenty first, nineteen ninety seven,
- 1:08Speaker 1: a self described Willie Nelson doppelganger named Mel Waters faxed
- 1:13Speaker 1: a radio talk show fax He faxed it was nineteen
- 1:20Speaker 1: ninety seven. Yeah, I don't remember when faxes stopped being
- 1:25Speaker 1: a thing.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I mean, not nearly long enough ago.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I feel like I'm having a bit of a panic attack.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Responds to my complex PTSD related to literally being tortured
- 1:39Speaker 2: in office environments faxing machines.
- 1:42Speaker 1: They still do faxing, right, I mean it's still possible. Yeah,
- 1:47Speaker 1: it's still a thing. Why would you not just email? Yeah?
- 1:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Tangent.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It happens around here, it does.
- 1:59Speaker 1: This was late night show for anything paranormal and or
- 2:03Speaker 1: conspiracy theories called Coast to Coast with Art Bell. Okay,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I don't know if you've heard of it.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Apparently it's a pretty popular It was on AM radio.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was a pretty popular show, yea. And people would
- 2:16Speaker 1: call in with their I don't want to say crazy
- 2:20Speaker 1: stories because that makes me sound judgy, but like kind
- 2:23Speaker 1: of like the stuff I talk about on yeah show,
- 2:26Speaker 1: just kind of wild stuff. Yeah. You know. Art was
- 2:29Speaker 1: so intrigued by Mel's deep story that he got him
- 2:34Speaker 1: on the phone to talk about it on air.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Five phone interviews over the course of five years detailed
- 2:42Speaker 1: a bewildering tale with many peaks and pits. Get ready
- 2:48Speaker 1: for a lot of whole references. Great, a whole lot
- 2:53Speaker 1: of whole references. Mel tells of his property in the
- 2:59Speaker 1: Nastache just west of Ellensburg, Washington. Ooh, do you know Ellensburg. Yeah, oh,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I know. This is in central Washington, a little over
- 3:11Speaker 1: one hundred miles southeast of Seattle. On this land is
- 3:15Speaker 1: a hole that reminds me of that song there's a
- 3:20Speaker 1: hole on a log? What is it?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Oh?
- 3:23Speaker 1: God, you know that. I know the song that I
- 3:26Speaker 1: keeps going with, the yeah frog on the log and
- 3:28Speaker 1: the hole in the frog. Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 2: No, it's I literally like you could have a gun
- 3:34Speaker 2: to my head right now, and I don't think I
- 3:36Speaker 2: could recite that one, but I know exactly what you're
- 3:38Speaker 2: talking about.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Someone send us a video of them singing that song
- 3:42Speaker 1: so we know how it goes. That would be creaked anyway.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So Mel had owned this land for a few years.
- 3:50Speaker 1: He didn't specifically say how long, and the previous owners
- 3:54Speaker 1: told Mel that the hole had been there since they
- 3:57Speaker 1: moved onto the land about thirty to forty years ago.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It's an old hole. It's an old hole, but they
- 4:05Speaker 1: didn't know how long it had been on the property
- 4:08Speaker 1: before that. So there's no record of like the previous owners, well,
- 4:12Speaker 1: there might be a record, but we don't know about it.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I just don't have that information exactly. Well, that's really old.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That's going back quite a way. That would be hard
- 4:21Speaker 2: to track down totally.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The gaping hole is nine feet nine inches in diameter.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It is. That's a bunch of nines too.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Nine.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It had a steel door covering the top for safety.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You know. Well, yeah, it is a gaping hole. Anyone
- 4:43Speaker 1: could just fall in. It's like a hot dog down
- 4:45Speaker 1: a hallway. Around the hole's rim is a three point
- 4:50Speaker 1: five feet wide retaining wall made of stone that extends
- 4:55Speaker 1: about fifteen feet down into the hole. Below that there's
- 4:59Speaker 1: some visible soil and rock, and beyond that is dark,
- 5:03Speaker 1: black nothingness. Okay, do we.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Know how deep this hole is? I'm assuming you're.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Gonna get there. Yeah, we're going to get there.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I really this is one of my biggest fears.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It's just some.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Listen, it sounds stupid when you say it like that. No,
- 5:28Speaker 2: but just like something like that where it's I guess
- 5:32Speaker 2: maybe this is possibly occurring naturally, but think about that
- 5:37Speaker 2: you're going to fall down into this or I mean,
- 5:40Speaker 2: they've taken safety precautions, but.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, how scary. It's a little scary. There is actually
- 5:47Speaker 1: like a fear of holes thing. I can't remember what
- 5:50Speaker 1: it's called. Maybe we can google it. Real quick. But
- 5:52Speaker 1: it was on a season of American Horror Story.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Oh my god, this is hilarious. What is it, Cassie.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I'll look up a pronunciation guide, but the name of
- 6:05Speaker 2: this literally signals exactly what my fear is with this
- 6:11Speaker 2: trip a phobia does.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Fall into a hole? Of phobia? Clumsy bitch of phobia.
- 6:20Speaker 1: No one let Caitlin near this hole? Okay, seriously, tripophobia.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Okay, listen, it's always going to be tripaphobia for me. Okay,
- 6:32Speaker 2: we're settled on that sounds better.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I can cuh. A few locals have always discarded
- 6:40Speaker 1: things into the abyss.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I know, guys, no, like, what are we going to
- 6:46Speaker 2: do with this trash?
- 6:47Speaker 1: I guess we're gonna throw it down the hole? Okay,
- 6:51Speaker 1: so things from regular old trash tires, even cow carcasses
- 6:57Speaker 1: have been thrown into the hole. What in the fuck?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Okay, Now, I definitely have tripophobia because can you imagine
- 7:05Speaker 2: if you did fall into that hole?
- 7:08Speaker 1: What's down there? Narnar exactly, Mel himself said he tossed
- 7:13Speaker 1: a refrigerator down the hole, and he was quite surprised
- 7:18Speaker 1: when he didn't hear it crash at the bottom. Mela,
- 7:22Speaker 1: he was just curious where the bottom one was. He
- 7:25Speaker 1: was like, if I throw this fridge down, I'm definitely
- 7:28Speaker 1: gonna hear something. But he didn't hear anything good.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe start testing your theories with something
- 7:38Speaker 2: either biodegradable or maybe something small like a bouncy ball,
- 7:44Speaker 2: but you wouldn't hear that. He went zero to fridge.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He wanted to hear where the bottom was. It's actually
- 7:50Speaker 1: it's worse. He did say. He threw TV tubes down there,
- 7:53Speaker 1: which is apparently really really really bad, very toxic. We
- 7:58Speaker 1: need to have a little chat. I just really wanted
- 8:00Speaker 1: to hear something crash, and he never did. He eventually
- 8:04Speaker 1: started to wonder why the heck his hole never got
- 8:07Speaker 1: filled up. I mean, there was so much trash going
- 8:12Speaker 1: into it for who knows how long you would think
- 8:14Speaker 1: it would fill up. Yeah, but I mean it's pretty deep,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it's pretty wide. Yeah, it's gursy. He yelled into the
- 8:23Speaker 1: seemingly bottomless hole, but he got no answering echoes in return.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You're horn it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah, well that is interesting because it makes me wonder, like,
- 8:36Speaker 2: how deep does a hole have to be for you
- 8:39Speaker 2: not to hear an echo?
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of crazy. He also shined a flashlight
- 8:45Speaker 1: down the hole, and he said it just disappeared into blackness.
- 8:48Speaker 1: He could never see the end. The light beam never
- 8:51Speaker 1: touched the bottom. He didn't see any water, nothing. I
- 8:57Speaker 1: just feel like this is how every horror movie begins,
- 9:02Speaker 1: Like somebody who's just a little too curious. Definitely, that
- 9:07Speaker 1: is a very good way to put this. Oh, for
- 9:10Speaker 1: fuck's sake, Mel became so curious about his whole you
- 9:15Speaker 1: can even say a whole obsession was born Jesus. So
- 9:20Speaker 1: he started to experiment with this whole, trying to answer
- 9:24Speaker 1: the burning, itching questions. How deep is it? Is it
- 9:28Speaker 1: wet inside? Was it clogged up with decades of waste?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Or was something paranormal happening to all the junk inside?
- 9:36Speaker 1: All that junkin is trunk.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Mel was a simple man. He liked throwing shit in
- 9:44Speaker 2: a hole.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Starting to tackle some of these big questions, he turned
- 9:49Speaker 1: to his experience as a shark fisherman. What, yeah, he's
- 9:54Speaker 1: a shark fisherman. Is that a thing? Apparently? Mel says
- 9:58Speaker 1: it is?
- 9:59Speaker 2: Okay, Mel, listen, do people really sharkfish?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Like? Is that a thing?
- 10:06Speaker 2: I don't I don't know.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I didn't google it. I didn't go into it. Not
- 10:11Speaker 1: that important to the.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Story, probably not, But you know what, I'm horrified on
- 10:16Speaker 2: behalf of my shark lover brother.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, did you should like, should I have said trigger warning?
- 10:23Speaker 2: You're like, just to be clear, this trigger warning is
- 10:26Speaker 2: being issued for yeah, a singular listener.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Also, did anyone catch my tackle reference? Because fishing, I said,
- 10:36Speaker 1: he started to tackle some of these big questions. You
- 10:41Speaker 1: love how I have to point it out, like just
- 10:44Speaker 1: in case no one gets it?
- 10:45Speaker 2: Like, well, it definitely went straight overhead for me. Look
- 10:48Speaker 2: at my reference, everybody and laugh. Okay, I think and laugh.
- 10:53Speaker 2: He remembered an old trick from his shark fishing days
- 10:58Speaker 2: involving life savers candy. So Mel attached the candy to
- 11:03Speaker 2: some fishing line that he had on hand because you know,
- 11:06Speaker 2: he was a shark fisherman, and he inserted it into
- 11:10Speaker 2: his hole. Then, after letting out an entire reel of
- 11:15Speaker 2: fishing line, which was fifteen hundred feet, he reeled it
- 11:19Speaker 2: back up to see if it had dissolved, meaning there
- 11:21Speaker 2: would be water down there. The Brave Lifesaver never felt
- 11:26Speaker 2: as though it hit anything on its journey into the unknown,
- 11:30Speaker 2: and it came back out completely dry and intact, so
- 11:33Speaker 2: he didn't hit water after fifteen hundred feet. Well, okay,
- 11:37Speaker 2: I think I need to look up where the water
- 11:40Speaker 2: table is in that area, and then I might have questions.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure that's not something I looked into. Well, yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 1: that would be pretty I dug for this episode, but
- 11:54Speaker 1: I dug in different spots. Yeah I say that. Yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 1: Like now I dug different holes.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Oh boy, oh boy.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So next, Mel sent the fishing line down with a
- 12:05Speaker 1: one pound weight and was determined to find the bottom.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So obviously you'd want to wait down the line, so
- 12:11Speaker 1: it's not just like blowing in the wind or whatever
- 12:14Speaker 1: down there. When he'd come to the end of his
- 12:16Speaker 1: line again fifteen hundred feet for each school, he'd tie
- 12:20Speaker 1: on another spool, and so on and so forth, until
- 12:24Speaker 1: eighty thousand feet of line had been lowered and still
- 12:29Speaker 1: had not reached the bottom. That's about fifteen miles.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Okay, So, like, does the other end come out like
- 12:37Speaker 2: in China.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Or who knows, what's the diameter of the earth. I
- 12:43Speaker 1: don't know that that was literally exactly google it. Oh
- 12:47Speaker 1: my god, what's the diameter of the earth. I don't
- 12:51Speaker 1: like this answer, the Earth is actually flat. There is
- 12:54Speaker 1: no diameter.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I mean correct. Obviously, Historically I have been satisfied with
- 13:02Speaker 2: any answer that the National Geographic Society offers me. I
- 13:07Speaker 2: don't like this. I'd like them to check again. Can
- 13:11Speaker 2: you double check your work please, that'd be great.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So Earth's core is the very hot, very dense center
- 13:19Speaker 2: of our planet. The ball shaped core lies beneath the cool,
- 13:26Speaker 2: brittle crust and the solid or the mostly solid mantle.
- 13:32Speaker 2: The core is found about twenty nine hundred kilometers or
- 13:37Speaker 2: eighteen hundred miles below Earth's surface. Oh and has a
- 13:42Speaker 2: radius of about thirty four one hundred eighty five kilometers
- 13:47Speaker 2: or twenty one sixty five for miles.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Okay, so we're like at feet right now.
- 13:53Speaker 2: But I didn't. I saw the eighteen and I got
- 13:56Speaker 2: roll scared. I was like mel is throat shit into
- 14:01Speaker 2: the core of our planet. And I feel like that
- 14:04Speaker 2: would explain a lot.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But maybe you might be you never know, or do
- 14:09Speaker 1: we find out at the end. I'm not going to
- 14:11Speaker 1: tell you yet. So also, in all of this research,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I learned something new that I didn't know before, which
- 14:21Speaker 1: maybe I'm naive, But there are people out there that
- 14:24Speaker 1: think the Earth is hollow. Come again, there are people
- 14:29Speaker 1: hollow but think the Earth is hollow? Are are they?
- 14:34Speaker 1: They're different than the flat earthers. They are different than
- 14:37Speaker 1: the flat earthers.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So do they think it's a sphere but it's hollow?
- 14:41Speaker 1: They think it's hollow, and I haven't looked into it.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I might do a little more because it's really weird
- 14:46Speaker 1: to me, but I think they think like creatures live
- 14:48Speaker 1: in the hollow Earth. Anyway, moving on, fun fact for you.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The deepest known part of the Earth is the Mariana
- 14:57Speaker 1: Trench in the Pacific Ocean at thirty six thousand, two
- 15:01Speaker 1: hundred and one feet or roughly seven miles, which is insane.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because when you say thirty six thousand feet, I'm like,
- 15:09Speaker 2: whoof that is deep? And then you say seven miles
- 15:12Speaker 2: and I'm like, I would like to.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Go home now. So deep? And Mal's hole is eighty
- 15:19Speaker 1: thousand still hasn't reached the bottom. That's about fifteen miles.
- 15:23Speaker 1: The deepest man made hole is the Kola Well in Russia.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Hola for the whole Yeah, huge.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It is about twenty three thousand feet deep, which is
- 15:36Speaker 1: a little over four miles. That man has drilled into
- 15:39Speaker 1: the earth.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Why I don't know there for research purposes? Is this
- 15:44Speaker 2: like a water well? Is this like a fracking thing?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Why don't you think it's an actual well? I think
- 15:49Speaker 1: they were just doing it to see how far they
- 15:52Speaker 1: can get. Honestly, seriously, like, this is here's the thing.
- 15:56Speaker 2: This is why we've needed more women in STEM because
- 16:01Speaker 2: we don't just like punch holes into shit or try
- 16:04Speaker 2: to finger random holes in the earth.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Let's drill a hole in the earth and see how
- 16:10Speaker 1: far down it goes. Yeah, I really could go wrong.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I don't want to say. That's why I really don't know.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I didn't look into it because that's not what this
- 16:19Speaker 1: is about. I didn't want to research, you know, a
- 16:22Speaker 1: random tangent topic too much like I tend to do.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So if y'all are interested, you can go look it up.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Strange things were happening, not just inside Mel's hole, but
- 16:34Speaker 1: outside as well. Animals like Mel's dogs were very wary
- 16:39Speaker 1: of his whole. Even if you smeared peanut butter all
- 16:42Speaker 1: around it. My god, they would not go near shut Okay,
- 16:48Speaker 1: just that fy. Mel did not smear peanut butter on
- 16:51Speaker 1: the hole to get the dogs to go. I just
- 16:53Speaker 1: took some creative license with that so I can make
- 16:55Speaker 1: a really gross joke. Yeah, and I we're going to
- 16:59Speaker 1: move on. No, he just said his dogs did not
- 17:03Speaker 1: like to go near the hole. Normally they followed him everywhere,
- 17:06Speaker 1: would not follow him to the hole, and if he
- 17:09Speaker 1: had him on a leash, they would kind of like
- 17:11Speaker 1: brace themselves to not go near it.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I think that they can sense things like that. Yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 2: it's like a change in the terrain. And yeah, totally.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I mean I don't blame them. Listen, if mel tried
- 17:24Speaker 2: to drag me over to the hole with a leash,
- 17:27Speaker 2: Oh wait, that's I guess that's probably a little that
- 17:30Speaker 2: that's different kind that's a little bit of me. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 2: which I mean, like get it, but also like but
- 17:38Speaker 2: like don't don't get it near the hole.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, I'm going to know that's okay, so are we. Yeah. Also,
- 17:49Speaker 1: birds never seemed to land on the retaining wall or
- 17:52Speaker 1: the steel door, and that could be the same thing.
- 17:55Speaker 1: They kind of sense something, but like a bird is
- 17:59Speaker 1: not just gonna fall in a hole. So I don't
- 18:01Speaker 1: know why they'd be scared of a hole.
- 18:03Speaker 2: That's that's what gets me, because I'm like, birds can fly.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I don't know if you knew that.
- 18:09Speaker 1: So maybe something else weird is going on here. Hum.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But there's one more strange happening that is so disturbing
- 18:18Speaker 1: that we need to get Stephen King on the phone immediately.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Like I said, previously, locals had been using Mel's enormous
- 18:25Speaker 1: hole as a garbage jump, but when one man disposed
- 18:29Speaker 1: of his deceased doggo down the hole, he claimed to
- 18:34Speaker 1: later see his beloved mutt out of the hole and alive.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Bro What the man said The dog would not come
- 18:41Speaker 1: to him when he called, but it had the exact
- 18:44Speaker 1: same collar and tags on.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, okay, listen, here's the thing is if if
- 18:49Speaker 2: we're going to go with this story, of course the
- 18:52Speaker 2: dog didn't.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Come to you.
- 18:53Speaker 2: You threw it down the hole. It's like two thousand
- 18:56Speaker 2: feet deep. Well, it was dead or one he remembers
- 19:01Speaker 2: a likely story dog murderer.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I would personally count it lucky that the dog didn't
- 19:06Speaker 1: come to him, because we all know how pet cemetery ended.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Don't fucks with re animated corpses.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I know how that one ended, for sure.
- 19:16Speaker 1: She doesn't. I know they Oh. Spoiler alert they all die.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I can't think of anything more horrifying to the fiber,
- 19:26Speaker 2: every single fiber of my being than a horror movie
- 19:31Speaker 2: that also centers around dead animals like pets specifically.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gross that movie, like gross, that's that's my No.
- 19:42Speaker 2: No, yeah, don't touch the No.
- 19:44Speaker 1: No, we did not plan that. That was natural. I
- 19:52Speaker 1: swear we have a psychical.
- 19:54Speaker 2: We really do.
- 19:55Speaker 1: We really do. Now. Mel did not witness this. He
- 19:59Speaker 1: is just relaying a story told to him. He is
- 20:02Speaker 1: very clear that he doesn't know if he believed that
- 20:05Speaker 1: this happened. He's just giving whatever information about the hole
- 20:09Speaker 1: that he's heard from people.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, which I feel like is what people say when
- 20:15Speaker 2: they don't want to cop to a story. I don't know, man,
- 20:19Speaker 2: this guy could be like truly crazy. But but look
- 20:22Speaker 2: I heard, Yeah, well you're laying the story, so it
- 20:26Speaker 2: could be possible you're kind of partially vouching for it
- 20:29Speaker 2: if you're sharing it.
- 20:31Speaker 1: So the question I kind of had. Art did bring
- 20:34Speaker 1: it up on the show. He's like, well, they've thrown
- 20:37Speaker 1: all these dead cows down there, did any of those
- 20:39Speaker 1: come back? Like, would you even notice if a dead
- 20:44Speaker 1: cow came back to life? They kind of all look
- 20:46Speaker 1: the same.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah, if you had like three cows, you might, but yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm guessing out in Ellensburg nobody has three cows.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I know they probably count them and everything,
- 21:02Speaker 1: but who knows. Who knows if some cows came back
- 21:05Speaker 1: to life.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I don't think they're counting them like down to the
- 21:09Speaker 2: you know, no, I don't.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Know how farmers work.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Well.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Mel decided to take his story public, and it was
- 21:16Speaker 1: not for fame or fortune, but just for answers.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He specifically says he does not want any TV crews
- 21:25Speaker 1: or reporters out there. He he didn't want a swarm
- 21:30Speaker 1: of out of towners trying to take a gander at
- 21:32Speaker 1: his hole. He needed to find someone to take this
- 21:36Speaker 1: very seriously and just come out and size up his
- 21:39Speaker 1: hole already.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Listen, the only way that you could possibly get more
- 21:46Speaker 2: people to show up out there is if you just
- 21:49Speaker 2: like put up a sign that said free drugs or something.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, free beer and weed. Yeah, because it totally like
- 21:58Speaker 1: took off and people are obsessed with Mel's hole. There's
- 22:02Speaker 1: songs written about it, there's drinks named after it.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Oh, I'm not putting anything in my mouth. It's named
- 22:10Speaker 2: Mel's Hole.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Can I get another Mel's Hole?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Please?
- 22:14Speaker 1: Oo? I think that that's.
- 22:16Speaker 2: A no for me.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Dog. He soon got way more than he asked for
- 22:22Speaker 1: in his hole. It's also important to note that when
- 22:25Speaker 1: Mel was talking to Art in the first couple of interviews,
- 22:28Speaker 1: he was doing so from Ellensburg and not on his
- 22:32Speaker 1: property in the manas dash Rich. He never actually revealed
- 22:37Speaker 1: the exact location of his land or the hole because
- 22:41Speaker 1: he didn't want random people out there. So I think
- 22:44Speaker 1: that kind of lens.
- 22:45Speaker 2: To Okay, damn it, Mel.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So all of that info was in the first interview
- 22:51Speaker 1: on the show, and you can actually listen to all
- 22:53Speaker 1: of them. It's kind of funny to hear people calling
- 22:56Speaker 1: in and stuff because people do call in and they
- 22:59Speaker 1: have some stuff to say.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Oh geez.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So I'll link those for you. I listen to it
- 23:05Speaker 1: on Spotify, but I think you can just find it
- 23:07Speaker 1: online and stuff in the archives in the X files.
- 23:14Speaker 1: The next couple of days after being on the show,
- 23:17Speaker 1: Mel notices helicopters circling above his property. Then he tries
- 23:22Speaker 1: to drive up to his land. Remember, he's not living
- 23:26Speaker 1: on it at this point, he's staying in Ellensburg and
- 23:29Speaker 1: he's halted on his access road by armed military, although
- 23:34Speaker 1: he cannot tell you which branch they're from, you.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Know, usually that's on like the side of the truck,
- 23:40Speaker 2: or you can tell based on the color of the uniforms.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't know if it was just that
- 23:44Speaker 1: he didn't see or couldn't tell the uniforms, or if
- 23:48Speaker 1: they were just a different type of uniform that he
- 23:51Speaker 1: wasn't used to seeing in the American military.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Like he's maybe actually been told not to tell us.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Maybe possibility, Maybe we'll get there, in which case, Mel,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you are super fucked. Well, he probably weren't supposed to
- 24:07Speaker 2: tell him, tell anybody that they were there at all.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Probably not. He talks to the man in charge, who
- 24:13Speaker 1: was not in a uniform, and this man tells him
- 24:16Speaker 1: that there's been a lane crash on his property and
- 24:19Speaker 1: he's not allowed on it until they've investigated. Mel told
- 24:24Speaker 1: the man he didn't see any smoke or anything like
- 24:28Speaker 1: you would typically see with a plane crash.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah. If you're you know, if you've watched the news
- 24:35Speaker 2: in the last twenty two years, you've seen at least
- 24:38Speaker 2: one plane crash.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Right, And I feel like there's enough people out there
- 24:43Speaker 1: that would notice a plane crash, but there was nothing
- 24:45Speaker 1: ever in the news about a plane crash. There's not
- 24:48Speaker 1: a lot going on out in Allensburg that area. Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: neighbors with their binaculars just waiting for something to happen.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, no joke.
- 25:00Speaker 1: The man told Mel that if he wanted to argue
- 25:02Speaker 1: any further, that they might just find a drug lab
- 25:05Speaker 1: on his property, okay, Agent Walter White. The man also
- 25:13Speaker 1: tells Mel that if he told anyone about this, no
- 25:16Speaker 1: one would believe him. Taking the hint, Mel leaves not
- 25:20Speaker 1: really knowing what to do next, so he faxes Art
- 25:24Speaker 1: at coast to coast once again. Of course he did.
- 25:28Speaker 1: In his second phone interview on February twenty fourth, nineteen
- 25:33Speaker 1: ninety seven, Mel brings more strange information that he had
- 25:37Speaker 1: gathered from locals. A neighbor told Mel that he had
- 25:41Speaker 1: seen a beam of solid black coming out of the
- 25:45Speaker 1: hole up into the sky and he could not see
- 25:49Speaker 1: the end or the beginning, sort.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Of like the pot of gold at the end of
- 25:54Speaker 2: a rag.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, So I was wondering, like, is this beam coming
- 25:59Speaker 1: from the whole or is it coming from the sky
- 26:01Speaker 1: down into the hole. We don't know it's coming from
- 26:03Speaker 1: both ends. Oh no, Mel himself never saw anything of
- 26:09Speaker 1: that nature coming out of his hole or going into
- 26:12Speaker 1: his hole, but later on other locals admitted to seeing
- 26:16Speaker 1: the same thing.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Let's be honest, Why would you lie about that?
- 26:19Speaker 1: I know, right, it's kind of weird.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Because, yeah, you legitimately sound like a screw just completely
- 26:26Speaker 2: fell out.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's no longer loose. It is officially missing.
- 26:30Speaker 1: It's interesting that more than one people claim to have
- 26:33Speaker 1: seen it.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Though more than one person.
- 26:35Speaker 1: It's fine. Another older neighbor said that there used to
- 26:40Speaker 1: be stonehenge like pillars placed around the hole, and he
- 26:45Speaker 1: doesn't know when they disappeared. Where they went. Did they
- 26:49Speaker 1: fall into the hole? Did someone steal them?
- 26:52Speaker 2: Okay, so where did these come from? Because the other
- 26:55Speaker 2: owners who lived there for thirty or forty years, yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 2: they never mentioned it.
- 27:01Speaker 1: They didn't, but I don't.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, now that we've sold you the property,
- 27:05Speaker 2: we're going to take our pillars with us.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I mean, they could have removed them and not, Like,
- 27:10Speaker 1: why would you tell someone that, Like, Hey, there's this hole,
- 27:13Speaker 1: there used to be pillars around it, but there's not anymore?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Like why would you say something like that.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So I feel like, why would you leave it out?
- 27:21Speaker 1: I don't I don't know the significance, but strange that
- 27:27Speaker 1: was a claim from a very elderly neighbor who had
- 27:30Speaker 1: been there in the area a long time. Mel also
- 27:33Speaker 1: reveals that he does have a lab on his property
- 27:37Speaker 1: that could easily be set up to look like a
- 27:39Speaker 1: drug lab. So this is one of the reasons he
- 27:42Speaker 1: was so concerned and kind of left it at that
- 27:46Speaker 1: when the military man suggested that they might find drugs
- 27:50Speaker 1: on his property, because he's like, oh, well, I do
- 27:53Speaker 1: have a lab.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Hey, Mel, what's what's the what's the lab for?
- 28:00Speaker 1: I tell you? Oh okay. So he researches and grows
- 28:03Speaker 1: plants for medicinal purposes, but he swears they're not narcotics.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Y I'll bet he does.
- 28:09Speaker 1: He even claims later that the plants he grew on
- 28:13Speaker 1: the land with the whole had remarkable properties and that
- 28:17Speaker 1: had even cured a man of aids. After this interview,
- 28:22Speaker 1: Mel Waters was not heard from again to the public.
- 28:26Speaker 1: He did contact Art a few times, but he was
- 28:29Speaker 1: not heard from again until April twenty fourth of two thousand,
- 28:33Speaker 1: so three years later.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Hmmm. That's fine. I don't feel unsettled by that at all.
- 28:40Speaker 1: On April twenty fourth, two thousand, about three years after
- 28:45Speaker 1: a second interview, Art Bell manages to get Mel back
- 28:48Speaker 1: on the air, And if you thought this story was
- 28:52Speaker 1: already weird, oh boy, I have a lot more shenanig shenanigans.
- 29:01Speaker 1: After the second interview, Mel says the government offered him
- 29:06Speaker 1: an astounding deal to lease his property to them for
- 29:10Speaker 1: a quarter of a million dollars per month. That's what. Yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 1: so clearly they found something of value or interest on
- 29:19Speaker 1: his land. I would think, so, yeah, that's a lot
- 29:22Speaker 1: of money. Something really big is there. Yeah, they're probably
- 29:26Speaker 1: way low balling him. Oh I'm sure ask for half
- 29:29Speaker 1: a mil Mel. The government even arranged for Mel to
- 29:34Speaker 1: move to Australia, where he spent the majority of his money,
- 29:37Speaker 1: continuing to work on those magical herbs and opening a
- 29:41Speaker 1: wombat rescue. Yeah. I had to go look up pictures
- 29:47Speaker 1: of wombats because I had no idea what they were.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I'd heard of them before, but I really didn't know
- 29:54Speaker 1: what they looked like. Oh my god, they're adorable. I
- 29:59Speaker 1: got sidetracked for longer than I'd like to admit looking
- 30:02Speaker 1: at wombat pics.
- 30:05Speaker 2: That's what they did to Mel. Yeah, because I'm like, okay,
- 30:08Speaker 2: wait a second. So they give him like they're like, here,
- 30:11Speaker 2: just take all of these bags of money. Also, get
- 30:14Speaker 2: the fuck out of this country.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Like what did they Yes, they didn't want him around.
- 30:18Speaker 1: They didn't I don't get out of here mound. They
- 30:20Speaker 1: didn't want him snooping back on his property. I think
- 30:22Speaker 1: this has like a serious stranger things five. Mel was
- 30:26Speaker 1: in contact with Art during this time, and Art says
- 30:29Speaker 1: he was sure the communications were coming from Australia, but
- 30:33Speaker 1: Mel couldn't come back on air because the government, of course,
- 30:36Speaker 1: made him sign an NBA.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So then like, is he writing him letters? Because that
- 30:41Speaker 2: almost seems worse. I really don't know. He did never say.
- 30:44Speaker 2: He just said like the correspondence was for sure coming
- 30:48Speaker 2: from Australia. So okay, all right, So since Mel is
- 30:53Speaker 2: now back on air talking about his whole something must
- 30:56Speaker 2: have happened, right, I mean I would think so buckle up, y'all,
- 31:02Speaker 2: oh Dard.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Mel told Art he was going to be back in
- 31:06Speaker 1: the area and was supposed to be on the show
- 31:08Speaker 1: actually in person this time, but he never showed up.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:14Speaker 1: In this third interview, Mel explains why he was on
- 31:18Speaker 1: a bus to Olympia after helping a family member move.
- 31:22Speaker 1: This was supposed to be the day of the interview.
- 31:25Speaker 1: While in transit, there was an altercation on the bus.
- 31:29Speaker 1: It didn't involve Mel, but the authorities wanted to take
- 31:32Speaker 1: witness statements.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:35Speaker 1: He starts to get a little concerned about making the
- 31:37Speaker 1: interview on time. He tells the police he really needs
- 31:40Speaker 1: to get to Olympia. They say, no worries, We'll get
- 31:43Speaker 1: you on this other bus that's headed that way. Well,
- 31:47Speaker 1: that was the last thing he remembers before waking up
- 31:51Speaker 1: in a San Francisco alley twelve days later. That sounds
- 31:57Speaker 1: like some men in black shit to me, Like, what do.
- 32:00Speaker 2: You want to bet that bus is super not going
- 32:03Speaker 2: to Olympia.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, no, definitely wasn't. He was aroused from unconsciousness by
- 32:09Speaker 1: requests for him to sing on the road. Again, He's
- 32:12Speaker 1: a Willie Nelson doppelganger. These people were trying to wake
- 32:16Speaker 1: him up, trying to get him to sing. He realizes
- 32:19Speaker 1: all he has are his clothes on minus a belt buckle,
- 32:23Speaker 1: but the rest of his belongings are nowhere. To be seen. Now,
- 32:28Speaker 1: we don't know how long he was in the alley four.
- 32:32Speaker 1: It's possible that his belongings and the belt buckle were
- 32:35Speaker 1: stolen before he woke up, but we don't really know. Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I feel like there's more things that don't know than
- 32:41Speaker 1: a do. No, that's kind of the feeling you get
- 32:44Speaker 1: throughout this whole story. But that's not all he noticed
- 32:48Speaker 1: when he woke up. He said he had some sort
- 32:50Speaker 1: of tape residue left on his skin, like maybe from
- 32:53Speaker 1: an ivy and Caitlin, you're gonna you're gonna love this.
- 32:59Speaker 1: He also claimed that all of his molars had been removed.
- 33:05Speaker 1: What he said, he's still like tasted blood in his mouth.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He had, Yeah, all beds. Yeah you need those for
- 33:12Speaker 1: the eating of the food. You do need them. So
- 33:16Speaker 1: who removed them? I we don't know.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Somebody who collects teeth.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So I didn't write this down, but they were kind
- 33:23Speaker 1: of talking back and forth on the show, and he
- 33:26Speaker 1: thinks that maybe they were doing some sort of torture,
- 33:29Speaker 1: like to get information out of him, but he just
- 33:32Speaker 1: he just doesn't remember. Huh.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah it could be. I mean, the molars
- 33:40Speaker 2: would be the most painful to remove.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Probably.
- 33:44Speaker 2: However, if you're trying to basically get someone to talk
- 33:48Speaker 2: through like body horror, it would be not the molars
- 33:54Speaker 2: you want to take because you can't really see those
- 33:57Speaker 2: in your mouth, right, Yeah, you'd start taking the front teeth.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Oh, maybe that's hard to look at. Uh, it's just sicky.
- 34:05Speaker 1: And Art did sort of tease to his audience that
- 34:09Speaker 1: Mel would be coming on the show, so they think
- 34:11Speaker 1: that could have been the reason for the attack, like
- 34:14Speaker 1: they knew he was going to be back in the
- 34:15Speaker 1: States and going on the show to talk. Yeah, I'm
- 34:19Speaker 1: not really sure, but big Brother is a listener. Yeah,
- 34:23Speaker 1: watch out.
- 34:24Speaker 2: He never said that his molars would be coming back
- 34:27Speaker 2: on the show.
- 34:28Speaker 1: He didn't. That is curdibly, as if Mel needed any
- 34:34Speaker 1: more problems. When he finally gets back home, his ex
- 34:37Speaker 1: wife is suing him for ownership of the land. The
- 34:41Speaker 1: land was originally hers and when they divorced, Mel got
- 34:45Speaker 1: the land because she didn't see any value in it. Well,
- 34:50Speaker 1: she apparently found out that it was worth a boobload
- 34:55Speaker 1: whole Dolly parton Boobload's Yeah.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I was like, who's someone that has just like ridiculous hits?
- 35:02Speaker 1: You know what? I mean Dolly for sure. And she
- 35:05Speaker 1: does have some leverage here because in their settlement he
- 35:08Speaker 1: was not allowed to develop the land at all. It
- 35:11Speaker 1: had to stay as is, which he didn't do. But
- 35:15Speaker 1: the GUV GUV shirt did.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Well once it changes hands.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but apparently that didn't matter because he wasn't supposed
- 35:22Speaker 1: to sell it to anyone that would do that either.
- 35:24Speaker 1: So what or release it because he's leasing it? I
- 35:27Speaker 1: guess maybe weird? Okay, But they did build roads, they
- 35:32Speaker 1: installed septic systems and fuel lines, so they did a
- 35:36Speaker 1: bunch of stuff that she didn't want done to the land,
- 35:39Speaker 1: so she wanted it back.
- 35:41Speaker 2: There's got to be like a statute of limitations on
- 35:43Speaker 2: that in the settlement.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure laws I don't know, okay, and
- 35:49Speaker 1: I don't know their exact agreement either. Yeah, I don't
- 35:52Speaker 1: have the paperwork to look through. I apologize. So even
- 35:56Speaker 1: though this was not Mell's fault, she won the land
- 35:58Speaker 1: back and now to deal with whatever shady shit is
- 36:02Speaker 1: going down there. Good luck with your molars. Yeah right. Oh,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and he sounded very worried about her. He said he
- 36:11Speaker 1: was unable to contact her at all to warn her
- 36:14Speaker 1: about what they had done to him.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Wait, why why can't he reach her all of a sudden?
- 36:19Speaker 1: I don't know, he doesn't know. Whah, he's worried.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean she's an ex, so like, don't
- 36:27Speaker 2: be too worried.
- 36:28Speaker 1: You know, he's worried, but not that worried.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Yeah, like kind of worried.
- 36:33Speaker 1: She's the one who wanted the land back. Right. So
- 36:36Speaker 1: obviously Mel is no longer getting all that sweet sweet cash.
- 36:40Speaker 1: In fact, now he has absolutely no money and has
- 36:44Speaker 1: to sell plasma. Okay, Mel, you were making two fifty
- 36:49Speaker 1: large every month for I don't know how long, but
- 36:53Speaker 1: he spent it all in the wombats.
- 36:56Speaker 2: He did. Oh my god, that was adorable, little best.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I mean, i'd probably give them all of my money too. No,
- 37:03Speaker 1: they're making little wombat eyes at me all day.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Oh now, you sweet sweet.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Dumb dumb selling plasma though, that's rough. I've totally been there.
- 37:16Speaker 1: It's not a good time. So I understand where he's
- 37:18Speaker 1: at in life, and he clearly can't get back to
- 37:23Speaker 1: Australia with no cash. He can't get back to his wombats.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I know, Oh my god, he spent all of the
- 37:29Speaker 2: money on the wombats.
- 37:30Speaker 1: And no he can't get back to them, so poor
- 37:34Speaker 1: Mel has gotten the shaft. That's a funny little thing
- 37:39Speaker 1: that they said in the interview, and I wanted to
- 37:42Speaker 1: add it because it's funny. Yeah, another piece of this
- 37:46Speaker 1: wonky donkey puzzle. Mel talks about this old gun that
- 37:50Speaker 1: he had dug up back when he still owned the property.
- 37:54Speaker 1: He thought it may have been a Nazi P thirty
- 37:57Speaker 1: eight from World War Two. And I'm not gonna lie.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I have no idea what that means.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Okay, but why are there Nazi guns exactly the state
- 38:07Speaker 2: of Washington buried on this weird deserted property exactly. I
- 38:13Speaker 2: have so many questions, So did Math.
- 38:17Speaker 1: He ended up having to give this gun to his
- 38:20Speaker 1: new landlord because he had no funds for security deposit.
- 38:24Speaker 1: This was when he had to move from the Manastash
- 38:27Speaker 1: Ridge to Ellensburg because there had been some snow damage
- 38:31Speaker 1: to his property. Back to this crazy gun. When his
- 38:35Speaker 1: landlord shot the gun, it made absolutely no sound. It worked,
- 38:42Speaker 1: a bullet came out and everything, but it was silent.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I don't think that's how guns work. It's not. Even
- 38:50Speaker 1: if it had a silencer on it, it would still
- 38:52Speaker 1: make some sort of sound. I mean from everything I've
- 38:56Speaker 1: seen on TV anyway, I don't know for sure, but
- 38:59Speaker 1: this gun gets even stranger. She rolled her eyes at
- 39:03Speaker 1: me just now.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Okay, of course it does.
- 39:07Speaker 1: When the gun was placed near a radio, the radio
- 39:10Speaker 1: would switch from current broadcast to transmissions from days long
- 39:15Speaker 1: since past, exqueeze me. So it started to play broadcasts
- 39:21Speaker 1: and music from the past, like you could tell they
- 39:24Speaker 1: were very old.
- 39:25Speaker 2: It's like the time Traveler's wife of guns.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, what's that thing like that catches things for
- 39:33Speaker 1: TV's antenna antenna? Okay, I was like, ah, I ca,
- 39:39Speaker 1: what's that thing that catches what's the shirt?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Well, no, I knew exactly what you were saying, though,
- 39:47Speaker 2: Like that's the crazy part is I'm like, I'm not
- 39:50Speaker 2: even looking at you like you're crazy. I'm like, so stupid.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Why can't you think of that catches?
- 39:57Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Anyway, so it was like some sort
- 40:00Speaker 1: of antenna for the past.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a logical explanation for that.
- 40:06Speaker 1: His landlord, who now has the gun, is also conveniently missing.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Mel got a hold of his son, who said to
- 40:14Speaker 1: his father left one day and they haven't heard from him.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Since Oh, okay, so that's fine. Also, the gun is
- 40:22Speaker 1: with him, so him and the gun are just gone.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Okay, where I really don't want to hang out with Mel.
- 40:31Speaker 1: If you have ever taken anything from Mel Waters that
- 40:34Speaker 1: he found on his property, just throw it away. Just
- 40:37Speaker 1: throw it away. Run.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Actually, I don't even think you should touch it again.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You don't touch it.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I think that you should literally wherever it is, leave
- 40:45Speaker 2: that place. Yeah, don't ever come back exactly, you start
- 40:48Speaker 2: using a different name.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Now. Earlier, when we talked about Mel waking up in
- 40:53Speaker 1: the alley, I casually mentioned that his belt buckle was missing.
- 40:58Speaker 1: This was actually a very unique and special belt buckle
- 41:02Speaker 1: that Mel made himself from coins that he had found.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Was it on the property? Shut up, we'll get there.
- 41:11Speaker 1: One of the coins was a dime dated nineteen forty three.
- 41:16Speaker 1: But this dime had a strange mint mark of the
- 41:19Speaker 1: letter B, which apparently isn't a thing. I don't really
- 41:23Speaker 1: know anything about coins, but that's what they say. There
- 41:26Speaker 1: is no B mint mark for a dime. Okay, I
- 41:30Speaker 1: feel like I'm about to have a strange fixation on
- 41:36Speaker 1: antique coins. You might that could be just a misprint
- 41:42Speaker 1: or something, but even more bizarre, the man featured on
- 41:46Speaker 1: this nineteen forty three dime is Roosevelt, And if you're
- 41:51Speaker 1: not a dates person like me, Roosevelt passed in nineteen
- 41:55Speaker 1: forty five and was not featured on any coins until
- 41:59Speaker 1: after that, So this coin should not exist. Okay, all right, Caitlin,
- 42:06Speaker 1: that's true. Can you take a guess where Mel acquired
- 42:09Speaker 1: said impossible coin?
- 42:11Speaker 2: I think I already did you definitely already did.
- 42:14Speaker 1: He dug it right out of the dirt on the
- 42:17Speaker 1: same land with the hole and the weird Nazi gun.
- 42:20Speaker 1: It was in a red Chinese lucky money envelope along
- 42:24Speaker 1: with nine other coins just like it.
- 42:28Speaker 2: They were all that same coin, all the.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Same nineteen forty three dime with Roosevelt's pretty mug plastered
- 42:35Speaker 1: on the front. Front or back? Is the head the
- 42:39Speaker 1: front of the back? I would say, the front?
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, heads are tails? Yeah yeah, front, fronts are backs,
- 42:46Speaker 2: front back heads or holes?
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yeah? Well, what's weird about that? Is? Okay?
- 42:54Speaker 2: So if it's just one that's bizarre in its own way, right,
- 42:59Speaker 2: Because I don't know if you guys know this. The Treasury,
- 43:03Speaker 2: the Reserve, the people that are responsible for the money.
- 43:08Speaker 2: They don't usually print like limited edition just like singular coins. Yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 2: that's not really what they do there, But even nine
- 43:19Speaker 2: of them and there's your number nine.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Again, Well there was ten total.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Oh there was nine more.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so JK clo Yeah no.
- 43:31Speaker 2: But what's weird about that is it's almost like, okay,
- 43:34Speaker 2: so did somebody who works there where they actually make
- 43:37Speaker 2: the coins, they were like, you didn't be cool.
- 43:42Speaker 1: If we hid these in the ground for someone to
- 43:44Speaker 1: find in the future.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Well, they're like, this coin doesn't exist. I want to
- 43:48Speaker 2: make it, like I think it looks cool, and I'll
- 43:51Speaker 2: use the designation B because then it's like it's not
- 43:54Speaker 2: legal tender, which who fucking would know that when they
- 43:58Speaker 2: look at a dime?
- 44:00Speaker 1: But like why and then why would you bury it?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Or maybe he just like bent over and it fell
- 44:05Speaker 1: out of his pocket. Yeah, and I don't know. I
- 44:09Speaker 1: don't know. It's a mystery. It's Mel's whole of mysteries.
- 44:15Speaker 1: So Mel had made belts with the other coins and
- 44:18Speaker 1: sold them, so he had ten coins total. He made
- 44:22Speaker 1: ten belts, he kept one, he sold nine. That's a
- 44:25Speaker 1: little math for you. Mel got in contact with someone
- 44:28Speaker 1: who had purchased one of his handcrafted belts to talk
- 44:32Speaker 1: about the special coin or the impossible coin. The man
- 44:36Speaker 1: took it to an expert who was flabbergasted and made
- 44:40Speaker 1: a very generous offer to buy the coin. Obviously that
- 44:44Speaker 1: meant it was probably worth a lot more, so he
- 44:47Speaker 1: did not accept the offer. But pretty soon after that,
- 44:50Speaker 1: the Treasury Department air Quotes shows up to take the
- 44:55Speaker 1: belt in the coin. I did air quotes when I
- 44:58Speaker 1: said the Treasury Department, because I feel like they wouldn't
- 45:01Speaker 1: just show up to your house and confiscate your property, right,
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean by what authority exactly? So it was probably
- 45:10Speaker 1: that same government branch responsible for taking Mel's property posing
- 45:16Speaker 1: as Treasury officials to make it seem logical because they
- 45:20Speaker 1: were taking a coin.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I don't know, Like I just all right, I need
- 45:25Speaker 2: to do some research. Yeah, I just feel like, do
- 45:28Speaker 2: they have that authority? I feel like no.
- 45:31Speaker 1: I feel like they weren't getting any warrants or anything
- 45:34Speaker 1: official to be taking these things.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 1: So, picking back up in the middle of the fourth
- 45:40Speaker 1: phone interview with Art, Mel talks about a fairly new
- 45:43Speaker 1: website called terror Server that had satellite imagery of the
- 45:48Speaker 1: Earth basically Google Earth, but obviously not as good. This
- 45:52Speaker 1: was over twenty years ago. Oh sure. Mel said he
- 45:57Speaker 1: had looked up his former property on this site, but
- 46:01Speaker 1: all that was there was a big old white square
- 46:04Speaker 1: over his land and a large chunk of the surrounding area.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Oo.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Arts audience swarmed the site and crashed it. Oh but
- 46:15Speaker 1: before the site went down, one listener managed to grab
- 46:18Speaker 1: a screenshot of it and sent it in. Mel confirmed
- 46:22Speaker 1: this was the redacted terror server image of his land
- 46:26Speaker 1: in the manastash Rich. He believes the government purposefully did
- 46:30Speaker 1: this so civilians couldn't see what they were doing there.
- 46:34Speaker 2: I mean that kind of tracks.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so I have the photo if you were not
- 46:39Speaker 1: to see it, yes, and I will post it of
- 46:42Speaker 1: course for everybody else. Well, who cares about that.
- 46:45Speaker 2: I want to see it.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Enhance, enhance. So that's old school Google Earth.
- 46:55Speaker 2: That's super weird because it's not just like a solid
- 46:59Speaker 2: white box. It's like there's a little dew hickey, the
- 47:03Speaker 2: hanging chad. Yeah, on the side there. It's like, okay,
- 47:07Speaker 2: well what's over in that tiny little strip?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, it's weird. It does look a
- 47:13Speaker 1: little weird. So real quick side note, seriously, don't waste
- 47:17Speaker 1: your time looking for this hole on Google Earth like
- 47:20Speaker 1: I did. There's some videos and articles and things of
- 47:24Speaker 1: people who have scoured Google Earth and they've never found
- 47:28Speaker 1: a dang old thing. So don't think that you can
- 47:31Speaker 1: do it, because you probably can't. But if you can,
- 47:35Speaker 1: we'd like to hear about it. Yeah, I mean, if
- 47:37Speaker 1: you want to like waste hours and hours and hours,
- 47:42Speaker 1: go for it. That's what you've been doing. Okay, Oops,
- 47:50Speaker 1: what has she been doing over there? I never know
- 47:52Speaker 1: what she's doing. Mel goes on to reveal that between
- 47:57Speaker 1: his call in two thousand and now, he has found
- 48:01Speaker 1: another hole of mysteries.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Um okay, Now, like Bud Guy Powell friend, I.
- 48:14Speaker 1: So he did have a little help here. He was
- 48:17Speaker 1: contacted by a group of Basque people in northern Nevada
- 48:21Speaker 1: about a hole that had been on their land since
- 48:24Speaker 1: their sheepherding ancestors settled there from northern Spain and southern
- 48:29Speaker 1: France in eighteen hundreds.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Okay, so this isn't just another hole that he found
- 48:36Speaker 2: on his property.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, yeah. Again, he does not specify where exactly
- 48:42Speaker 1: this hole is located because the Basque people felt it
- 48:45Speaker 1: was sacred, so he didn't want a bunch of again,
- 48:50Speaker 1: a bunch of civilians. Civilian. That's not the right word, civilians,
- 48:55Speaker 1: I mean, because he's a civilian. Yeah what am I
- 48:58Speaker 1: trying to say? They are like, you know, hole smell. Yeah,
- 49:01Speaker 1: so you're fine. We don't want any of those non
- 49:06Speaker 1: hole hole gawkers. He didn't want any hole gawkers showing up.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I got this bass hole had some things in common
- 49:15Speaker 1: with Mel's hole. It was roughly the same diameter of
- 49:19Speaker 1: nine feet. Animals feared it. There were sightings of the
- 49:24Speaker 1: same strange black beam, and you could not see the bottom,
- 49:29Speaker 1: only black nothingness.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Unlike Mels, the bass hole had a metal retaining wall
- 49:39Speaker 1: that he referred to as a collar. This collar had
- 49:43Speaker 1: notches on it, as if something was meant to be attached.
- 49:47Speaker 1: This metal had some unique properties though it was not
- 49:51Speaker 1: hot to the touch, but it seemed to radiate heat,
- 49:54Speaker 1: and it was not able to be cut or even dented. Yeh,
- 50:02Speaker 1: And most notably, it had no sound if you banged
- 50:07Speaker 1: on it, sort of like that weird Nazi gun. I
- 50:12Speaker 1: don't know how it's possible, but it keeps getting weirder.
- 50:16Speaker 1: I don't like it. It's yeah, I don't.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Even need the burps.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Since the Basque people had always viewed this hole as
- 50:24Speaker 1: a sacred space, they never lowered anything into it. You know.
- 50:32Speaker 1: I'mike Mel, who was like, oh, it's a hole, we
- 50:34Speaker 1: must shove shit in there. But I guess Mel's stories
- 50:39Speaker 1: of him experimenting with his own hole sparked curiosity in them.
- 50:44Speaker 1: So with Mel by their side, they started their own
- 50:47Speaker 1: investigations into their hole. No, they lowered down a bucket
- 50:53Speaker 1: of ice with an estimated fifteen hundred feet of rope
- 50:57Speaker 1: that they had on hand, because you know, you always
- 50:59Speaker 1: have fifteen hundred feet of rope on hand, Yeah, who doesn't.
- 51:03Speaker 1: They never reached the bottom. They left it there for
- 51:06Speaker 1: a bit before pulling it back out. Upon inspection, they
- 51:10Speaker 1: realized that the ice did not melt. Oh okay, weird right.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Mel picked up some of the ice, expecting it to
- 51:18Speaker 1: still be just as cold and frozen as when he
- 51:21Speaker 1: lowered it down. But the ice was now warm but
- 51:26Speaker 1: still seemingly solid.
- 51:28Speaker 2: That okay, Well, listen, so we're just throwing all of
- 51:33Speaker 2: science out the window.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I guess. So it is a hole of mysteries. I
- 51:38Speaker 1: told you it would get weird, so it was not
- 51:40Speaker 1: melting in the warmth of his hands, as you would
- 51:43Speaker 1: expect regular ice to do. Then they decided to put
- 51:47Speaker 1: the whole bucket of ice on the fire to see
- 51:49Speaker 1: if they could get it to melt, because boys, you
- 51:53Speaker 1: know what makes this better fire?
- 51:56Speaker 2: I mean, I agree, I.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Was gonna say, I guess not just boys, boys and
- 52:01Speaker 1: calin kid. Well, if you hadn't already guessed, the ice
- 52:06Speaker 1: did not melt, but it did catch on fire.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Uh okay, well I don't care for that. See this
- 52:14Speaker 2: is why I thought that was a bad idea. As
- 52:16Speaker 2: someone who normally is all about the fire, I don't know. See,
- 52:20Speaker 2: here's the thing is, normally, if I'm playing with fire,
- 52:23Speaker 2: I insist on there being no boys. I think that's
- 52:27Speaker 2: where they went wrong.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Maybe. Yeah, it wasn't big flames, but it was more
- 52:32Speaker 1: like a glow around the cubes. They removed it from
- 52:35Speaker 1: the fire, and whatever this is that clearly isn't ice anymore,
- 52:40Speaker 1: continued to burn with no signs of stopping.
- 52:43Speaker 2: I think there might be like some type of gas
- 52:47Speaker 2: down in the hole. Oh maybe, and it like coated
- 52:51Speaker 2: the ice, right, something like that. Maybe maybe that's what
- 52:56Speaker 2: the government was interested in like a ammable gas thing.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I don't know the government does like flammable shit? They do,
- 53:07Speaker 2: I mean to do again, who doesn't They do? Have
- 53:11Speaker 2: to give a trigger warning for the next bit? What
- 53:15Speaker 2: there's some animal death.
- 53:17Speaker 1: No, I'm so sorry. It's not a puppy or a
- 53:20Speaker 1: kiddy or anything like that. I have plans, but it's
- 53:25Speaker 1: important to talk about and it's very, very weird.
- 53:29Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 53:30Speaker 1: So we're gonna We're gonna get through the bad part.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I'm not going to go into detail, but I just
- 53:35Speaker 1: wanted to warn you in case you want to skip
- 53:37Speaker 1: ahead if you don't want to hear this part. Mollie, Charlie,
- 53:41Speaker 1: ear mups, hear moms. One of the bass men was
- 53:45Speaker 1: so curious that he wanted to enter the hole. No
- 53:49Speaker 1: one wanted to let him do that, so they decided
- 53:52Speaker 1: to use a sheep.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, let the village idiot go down.
- 53:58Speaker 1: I know, right, mel was very reluctant to tell this
- 54:03Speaker 1: part of the story. You could tell it was really
- 54:06Speaker 1: traumatizing for him. He was an animal lover, you know,
- 54:10Speaker 1: the wombats.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but are you reluctant to tell it because you
- 54:16Speaker 2: are an animal lover or you reluctant to tell it
- 54:19Speaker 2: because it's fucked up and you were there there.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he seemed really disturbed by it, but they felt
- 54:29Speaker 1: like it was a necessary thing to do. So, like
- 54:33Speaker 1: I said, I won't go into detail because I also
- 54:37Speaker 1: hate animals dying and things. It's my no no topic,
- 54:41Speaker 1: so I know, seriously for why, I know, no, maybe
- 54:48Speaker 1: you start with a bug or something, you know, yeah,
- 54:51Speaker 1: like nothing good.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Is happening to anything that goes down there or anything
- 54:56Speaker 2: that comes back up.
- 54:58Speaker 1: They lowered the sheep down with the same fifteen hundred
- 55:01Speaker 1: foot rope as with the ice. When the rope could
- 55:04Speaker 1: not go any further, they left it there for a while,
- 55:07Speaker 1: just like the ice. Mel said, during that time they
- 55:11Speaker 1: could feel static like vibrations around the metal rim or
- 55:15Speaker 1: collar as he likes to call it. Okay, sounds great, Yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 1: he said. It wasn't the sheep moving, It was like
- 55:25Speaker 1: vibrations around the rim. So, of course, when they brought
- 55:30Speaker 1: the sheep back out of the hole, it was no
- 55:32Speaker 1: longer living. On the surface, nothing appeared to be wrong
- 55:36Speaker 1: with the sheep other than it was obviously dead. Yeah.
- 55:39Speaker 1: The deadness, Yeah, the deadness. It'll get you, but they
- 55:43Speaker 1: decided to do an autopsy. Cool. They found that the
- 55:47Speaker 1: sheep appeared to have been cooked on the inside and
- 55:52Speaker 1: there was a jelly like substance and what they thought
- 55:55Speaker 1: looked like a huge tumor. It was almost the size
- 55:58Speaker 1: of the sheep itself.
- 56:00Speaker 2: What the okay? So poison gas down in the hole?
- 56:04Speaker 2: Like radiation like something? Right?
- 56:07Speaker 1: The tumor was pulsating and Mel described it as smelling
- 56:11Speaker 1: like ozone. And I'm not really sure what that smells like.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Do you know what ozone smells like? I would have
- 56:17Speaker 1: googled it, but I thought it'd be funner to ask you.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I put you on the spot, make you google. The
- 56:24Speaker 1: smell of ozone is described and I quote like chlorine,
- 56:30Speaker 1: a clean smell, sweet and pungent, like an electrical spark,
- 56:36Speaker 1: burned wire smell. Ooh, which makes sense if it if
- 56:41Speaker 1: they were saying that it was like it was cooked.
- 56:44Speaker 1: And the fact that like they say that smells like
- 56:48Speaker 1: electricity or energy hmm, that like there's some sort of
- 56:54Speaker 1: like gas or chemical that's emanating from there, huh. Or
- 56:59Speaker 1: radiation because radiation, I bet does radiation smell like ozone?
- 57:04Speaker 2: If you type in does radiation smell. The first suggested
- 57:10Speaker 2: Google return is does radiation smell like pozone?
- 57:16Speaker 1: Weird? All right?
- 57:17Speaker 2: So, allegedly, because I have not had a chance to
- 57:22Speaker 2: review this with my peers, radiation of low intensity does
- 57:26Speaker 2: not smell of anything, but a very strong and deadly
- 57:31Speaker 2: source of radiation causes ionization of molecules in the ambient air,
- 57:37Speaker 2: and these changes give the air a characteristic smell. So
- 57:41Speaker 2: there's several different descriptions, basically like a clean type chlorine smell,
- 57:47Speaker 2: like a sweet but pungent or almost like a burnt
- 57:51Speaker 2: electrical wire smell. So it's said that nuclear physicists and
- 57:58Speaker 2: other types of scientists that are really familiar with it
- 58:01Speaker 2: without a docimiter know that the smell of ozone and
- 58:06Speaker 2: a metallic taste in the mouth is a sign of
- 58:09Speaker 2: strong radiation. Oohiky, I'm not like a super strong like
- 58:15Speaker 2: science stem background, but like there's a lot of stuff
- 58:19Speaker 2: that actually has radiation that we're being exposed to just
- 58:24Speaker 2: through normal everyday thing. Yeah, like the sun, So I
- 58:28Speaker 2: don't know, in like the core of the Earth, it's
- 58:31Speaker 2: I don't logical, No, I don't, I don't I don't
- 58:35Speaker 2: want that.
- 58:36Speaker 1: I would like to tap out now, So Caitlin's not
- 58:40Speaker 1: going to be lowered into the hole, is what we're
- 58:42Speaker 1: saying that. Oh my god, after learning even just like
- 58:48Speaker 1: this little bit, I would be hard pressed to like
- 58:51Speaker 1: put a bucket of spiders down there, like that's that's
- 58:55Speaker 1: kind of fucked. What about a hornet's nest? Well, listen,
- 58:59Speaker 1: they had it coming. They would probably gain superpowers from
- 59:02Speaker 1: being thrown down there, and they'd come out and be
- 59:05Speaker 1: these huge hornets. I'll be honest, That's why I didn't
- 59:09Speaker 1: want to put the spiders down there.
- 59:10Speaker 2: I don't put anything down any holes. Listen, just stop
- 59:14Speaker 2: putting things in the hole.
- 59:16Speaker 1: People are obsessed with holes. So we kind of had
- 59:19Speaker 1: like a little breaky brake palette cleanser type thing before
- 59:23Speaker 1: I jump in too. Again, even weirder and more intense shit.
- 59:32Speaker 1: So they cut open the tumor and there was a
- 59:39Speaker 1: living creature inside.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Have to leave.
- 59:46Speaker 1: That, Mel said, looked like a seal fetus, flippers and all.
- 59:52Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 59:53Speaker 2: Okay, well, now I have to google seal feed it.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Well, I did that for you. He said. It had
- 59:59Speaker 1: human looking eyes, and it looked each of them in
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: the eyes like it was studying them. Mel felt compelled
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: to place the creature on the metal collar, and it
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: made its way to the edge, seemingly nods at them
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: and flops its way back down the hole. Okay, I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: think that's for the best, right go on, you, you
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: flop right back, gone down to mommy where you came from.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: This whole thing lasted a while. They said that they
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: were just like staring at it. It was staring at
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: them intense. I looked up photos of sheep fetuses to
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: make sure, like you couldn't just confuse that with a
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: seal fetus.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: They look very different. I should hope it doesn't seem
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: to me that you would confuse the two. Even at
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: the earliest stages. It doesn't appear to have anything that
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: looked like flippers. And also the eyes, like sheep's eyes,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: have those distinct pupils, right like the sideways ones. I
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: guess Mel wasn't freaked out by the creature. He actually
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: felt it to be quite miraculous. I'm not sure if
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: he felt this way in the moment or upon reflection
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: once returning home, because Mel now reveals that he had
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: very advanced cancer. Yeah, I'll bet right from fucking around
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: with this hole this time. Mel. He was supposed to
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: only live about six months after the diagnosis, but he'd
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: been alive and cancer free ever since he had the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: encounter with the being. Uh huh. So he thinks the
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: seal fetus alien from a sheep body tumor cured him
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: of cancer.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Okay, so I think that probably if there was ever
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: a possibility before. I just don't think that Mel and
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: I are going to hang out. I just feel like
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: we're really different pages on a lot of things.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty cool, though, if he got cured
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: of cancer. Right the way she's looking at me, there's
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: one more big thing, Mel spills out before the end
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: of the call. Before he left Nevada, a Basque elder
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: gifted him a coin, a coin he'd found in a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: red envelope, A coin dated nineteen forty three featuring the
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: thirty second President of the motherfucking United States of America,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Are you fucking shitting me? I mean,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: are you shocked? I'm not?
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: No.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I mean I feel like this is the part where
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I should be like.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Are you shitting my dick?
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: But Uh just gets crazier and crazier. I told you guys,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I wasn't lying. So basically, if you didn't catch on this,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Basque elder found the same type of red envelope that
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Mel did with those weird Roosevelt nineteen forty three coins
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: with the mint mark, and he gave him the same coin,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: not knowing this story, allegedly. So okay, we're here. We've
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: made it to Mel's final interview on Coast to Coast
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: with Art Bell on December twentieth, two thousand and two.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: So it's been almost a year since last time. Mel
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: has kept in contact with the Basque people, and there
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: are some updates about their hull. They say there's helicopters
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: now flying over like they're looking for something. That's the
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: first step, man, I you know, maybe you just keep
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: quiet about your whole, right. Why did they tell him
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: about the hole? You know he's going to go on
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: coast to coast.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Just keep the whole private, yeah.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: You know, you know, keep it locked away, put a
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: chest he belt on it. But no government or military
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: has shown up to barricade the hole yet, so that's
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: a good thing. Mel says that that metal collar around
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: the bass hole has another interesting quality. Other than the
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: silence and the warmth. When you get a certain distance away,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: you can't see it anymore, not so far that it's
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: reasonable for you to not see it. You would still
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: think that you would see this big metal collar, but
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: for some reason it disappears. Hmm. Okay, maybe that's why
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the government hadn't found the Nevada hole yet. But they
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: were able to find Mel's hole right away because his
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: hole didn't have the fancy invisibility metal. I was literally sitting.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: There going, okay, Harry, your invisibility clothes.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, Yeah, the Harry pottered that hole. Okay, Ah,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: that was a joke. I didn't mean to make Harry plopper.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: The dime and the gun also share the same quality.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Cameras don't seem to work around them either, so Mel
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: was unable to get any photos or even scans of
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: the dime. Yeah, very convenient, I would say. He said
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: that the photos all turn out all blurry, and that
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: like totally reminds me of the Ring. I know you
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: probably haven't seen it. It's a scary movie.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: He's super had.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: My day's fucking ruined. You know how when they take
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: the photos and then the faces are all blurry.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I don't no, don't, don't remember any of that.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: And she comes out of a fucking hole in the ground.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's all making sense, it's all tying together.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Is this the most uncomfortable I've ever made you?
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: It's definitely the farthest I've tried to crawl into the
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: back of the chair.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: So, Caitlin, do you remember that burning ice? Ye? Well,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: it stayed lit, and one of the bask men took
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: it home to use as a free, ongoing heat source.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: What the of course he did?
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Hey, man, when you're low on money, you gotta do
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: what you gotta do, all right, he saw free fire,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: he took it. It not only sucked out all of
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: the moisture in his home like some damp rid on steroids,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: but he created a sinkhole that, over time, sucked his
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: whole house down. Who could have seen that? Come right,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I don't take freaky ice from freaky holes. Okay. Then
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: some scientists swoop in like Wesley pulling Buttercup out of
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: the lightning sand pit in the fire swamp to seize
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: the magical fire ice. No word on if they had
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: to fight one of the rodents of unusual size afterwards.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: But you know, God, I've just I've really I've had
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: it with this all, all of it.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if one of those suckers showed up.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: Right, I mean, is that not with that weird seal fetus?
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: I don't, I don't know.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: It took them quite some time to figure out how
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: to get it out of the sinkhole, but they ended
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: up pulling out the stove and taking it with them.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: You know, I just probably probably know. Yeah, probably that
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: stove is dead to you. But what are they going
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: to do with it? Like they're going to take it
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: to some lab and it's going to sinkhole the lab.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Like I just I don't know.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: Maybe we just leave the hole alone.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe we just go Maybe they took it back
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: to the hole and are going to throw it back down. Yeah. Okay,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: do you remember that seal creature? How could I forget?
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: It's been sending messages to the bask people through a
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: boom box when they place it on the metal collar.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: What Okay, listen, does he sign off baby seal?
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: No, but he does warn that the fire ice crap
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: is going to be the end of the earth. So
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I mean, just casually, super cash. A man who goes
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: by red Elk contacts the show and says, this informative
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: steal thing is a rock flyer of Native American legends.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: There's a shit tone more about this dude, and we're
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: not going to get into it. Also, I legit couldn't
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: find a single thing about rock flyers, So that's all
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: we're ever going to get out of Mel's Hole. To
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: wrap it all up, you should always wrap it up.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: No one has ever found any evidence of a man
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: named Mel Waters or his hole in the evergreen state
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: of Washington. That redacted terra server photo is the only
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: piece of evidence we ever get to actually see. Some
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: people claim to know where Mel's hole is located, but
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: they've never actually shown anyone else the location. Dicks cough cough,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: red Elk, right, which is why we're not talking. And yeah,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: there's a lot of science saying that a hole like
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: this is impossible. I mean, if the deepest holes we
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: know of are nowhere near as deep as Mel's hole,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you can logic that one out right, I think so, yeah,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: But that's kind of the point. What's logic got to
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: do with it? This hole is clearly abnormal in every way.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: It's obviously an inner dimensional portal of some sort. That's
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: what I'm going with.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Or maybe Mel, if that's his real name, has a
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: hole in his head.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Maybe it's possible, totally possible. I feel like either scenario
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: equal possibility. Or I mean, it could be like a
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: radiation thing. Ooh, it could be that that's where the
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: government dumped like all this radioactive shit and it made
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: like a hole. They're like, oh, nothing to see here,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: We'll go ahead and least this property so that nothing nothing. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: You know when you like you're like talking to somebody
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: or you like walk into some to a room and
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: somebody's like, what.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Nothing, wasn't anything. I wasn't tricky enough. It's exactly it.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: And of course no one knows who Mel really is.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: He either didn't use his real name, which why would
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: you if you really wanted to keep the public out
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: of your hole, you know, you wouldn't use your real name. Yeah,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: you'd have a stage name, or the government erased all
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: traces of him. Okay, here myself, I know I've gone
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: full crazy. It's fine, Yeah, I guess I just have
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: one final curiosity about mousehole if I took salad to
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: the rim and tossed it.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: The end, finish the question.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: I mean I just assumed you guys could.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: What would happen, Well, it'd be a radioactive popsiel salad.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Oh god. So I wanted to mention another podcast that
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: covered this, Astonishing Legends. They covered this in depth, like
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: they talk about every little detail of the phone call.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: It's like a play by play. They share their theories,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: other people's theories and whatnot. If you want even more
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: of Melshole, If you just can't get enough of Melshole,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: go check out Astonishing Legends. They had what was it,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: two episodes that were like three hours long or so.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's like six or more hours of
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: content about this, and I was like, I can I
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: cannot stomach that format personally.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Yeah. I listened to a little bit of the beginning
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: just to kind of see where they were going with it,
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: and they were totally like doing a play by play
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: of the calls. I think that's it. Yeah, Taro Taro, Wow, Okay,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Mel's Hole, everybody, I just what are we going to
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: pull out a Mel's Hole today?
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Oh dear, I wish you wouldn't say.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Things like that, focusing on the hole, on the hole. Okaykes,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: this is the card. Okay, interesting it is that a nine.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Let me see the hermit and it's in reverse. But
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: you guys, it kind of looks like he's crawling out
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: of a hole or a cave. You said a cave.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: She did say a cave earlier. She was like, Tarot deck,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: if you don't have a hole, give us a cave.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I'm what is happening. We're literally witches. Also the fact
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: that it's number nine again my number, but also the
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: whole if you remember it was nine feet nine inches.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Who else has the full on chills right now? Maybe
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I'll read from the little one while you're looking for
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the Biggie perfect. The hermit is a thoughtful, introverted figure
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: who likes to spend his time ruminating alone, like the
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: creature under the stairs reversed. Are you feeling overwhelmed or aimless? Yes?
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: How did you know? If you need direction? Look within?
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: You have the answers you need to find them. Make
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: time for yourself. Getting away from the hustle and bustle
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: of daily life will bring you much needed clarity. Okay,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: this is kind of weird going away stop somewhere else
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: is a big part of this story.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Okay, So the Hermit keywords are guidance, solitude, inner wisdom,
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: self evaluation. The Hermit is often linked with Father Time
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: or Saturn, the planet astrologers connect with obstacles and lessons
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: that come up during the course of our lives. As such,
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: he reminds you to be patient and brutally honest with
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: yourself as you work to gain perspective.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Interesting, you gotta be honest. I have one thing to
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: say about that before you move on really quick. So
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: one of the things with like Stonehenge, they think it,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: you know, might correlate with the stars or whatever. That
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: was kind of one of the theories, those stone hinge
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: pillars that were around it. Does those correlate with any
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: star patterns or does the whole correlate with a you know,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: a star or the moon or something that cold. Yeah,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: maybe that was one of the big questions of it.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: So I wanted to mention.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: That that's interesting. Well, the extra exer tad something for
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: us for sure. The wheel of Fortune is often linked
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: with karma, which Wickans describe in what's known as the
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: Wickan read bide the wickan law, ye must imperfect love
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: and perfect trust eight words till the wickan read fulfill
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: and ye harm none do what ye will, What ye
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: send forth comes back to thee. So ever, mind the
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: rule of three interesting. Followed this with mind and heart
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: and marry ye, meet and marry ye part the Rule
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: of three interesting because we keep getting cases that have
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: like the nine which is, h.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Are you reading the right one?
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I'm literally not. I was like, I don't remember, okay,
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: which one? Were you reading the Wheel of Fortune?
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Oh? Okay, yeah, okay, Well, I mean it was still
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: cool to hear I like.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: I guess as to the part that I read about
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: father time that was correct, but the pages were like
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: stuck together and I went straight to the reverse interpretation
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: of the Wheel of Fortune.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Interesting. I just like to hear you say yee a
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: bunch of times. Oh yeah, we did it twice in
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: one episode. Let's see, let's do something fun and see
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: if it's just like around here, just in case.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to read this.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Stop no, is that the wheel of Fortune?
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Okay? What was that at the bottom of the deck
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: that was in the middle? So I did this, I
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: think and this was Oh my gosh. So they were
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: literally right next to each other. I think that's significant. Okay,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: you guys just witnessed literal magic. You're welcome. We're going
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: to read it. I think we should read it, maybe
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: after we did the Hermit and see what's up.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. Reversed the Hermit suggests you're ignoring or rejecting
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: the wisdom being offered to you. It's time or long
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: past time, for self evaluation. Reflect on your hopes and goals,
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: your associations, your relationships, your career, and your purpose in life.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Sometimes this card shows you don't want to be alone
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and feel sad, frightened, or isolated, like inside a hole.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Interesting sat alone and frightened.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Yeah. In a reading about money, you may be unwilling
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: to look at a financial matter closely, or reluctant to
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: listen to advice. Sometimes this card suggests you're overly cautious
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: and that's limiting you. It can also mean rejecting the
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: material world for the spiritual one. If the reading is
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: about your job, you need to withdraw to think things through,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: to sort out your life and the issues confronting you.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Keeping busy can be a form of denial.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, you guys.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: Sometimes the reversed hermit indicates being forced to leave a
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: secure job and go it alone. Oh my god, she's
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: pooping yourself. Oh my god. In a reading about love,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: you may try to fill your time with social activity
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: to avoid facing yourself. In some cases, the hermit reversed
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: may mean disappointment in a romantic situation or leaving a
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: relationship that no longer fulfills you.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: All right, so I'm going to continue on with real fortune.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: I'm going to try to go quick.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah. So our keywords are change, destiny, unexpected turn of events,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: and good luck. Wow.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: To pick the wheel of fortune with eight spokes a
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: reference to the eight pagan subbots or holidays that mark
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: the sun's annual passage across the sky, and the ever
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: turning circles.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Of life, circles, whole, cycles of life. Oh darn it
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: cycles the circle, and that is a whole. It's a whole.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Cycles are circles, and circles are holes.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Other decks show human or mythical figures attached to the wheel,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: indicating that we're all tied to the wheel of time
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: and subject to life's ups and downs. The rider Waight
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: Smith deck includes winged versions of astrological symbols, which represent
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: the four elements in the cards corners, suggesting the influence
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: of divine forces consciously or unconsciously. You've put something in
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: motion and you now have little or no control over
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: the outcome. I don't care for that. A new phase
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: in your life is beginning, an important decision must be made,
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: or an upcoming circumstance will change your life. Wow, destiny
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: is at work and you have to accept whatever happens.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: All you can do is a tune.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Yourself to the forces operating now. Okay, and there's an
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: extra exit before the interpretation, so I'm going to blow
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: through it. The Marai, I think, is how you pronounce this.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: The wheel of fortune is linked to the three fates,
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: three collectively called the Marai in Greek mythology. One spins
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: the thread of life, the thread the fishing line, the
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: second weaves it, and the third cuts it. Thus, the
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: wheel of Fortune is a reminder of the mysterious cycles
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: of life, death, and rebirth, and of the invisible forces
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: that measure that out to each of us.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Okay, life, death, rebirth. A freaking dog came back to
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: life after throwing it in the hole. What was that
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: last part you read?
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: It's a reminder of the mysterious sight measuring and of
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: the invisible forces that measure them out to each of us.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Interesting because there was a lot of measuring happening. Sure
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: was a favorable outcome awaits you. Maybe Sure.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: Circumstances are changing for the better, even if you aren't
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: totally aware of what you've done to initiate the process.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: You've started the ball rolling weird, or rather the wheel turning.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: The whole opening wider and wider.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Don't resist. These changes will promote growth and bring valuable
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: learning experiences for you. It can be hard to stay balanced,
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: but go with the flow and trust the process. In
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: a reading about money, this card herald's good fortune come
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: in your way as a result of what you've already
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: put into action. Perhaps through a stroke of good luck,
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: your finances improve these opportunities that present themselves. Okay, this
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: is crazy. If the reading is about your job, you
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: may get a lucky break. Unexpected terms of events are likely,
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: such as meeting people who can help you or receiving
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: an offer out of the blue. Getting an offer out
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: of the blue, which definitely happened. And then in my
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: little book for the Nightmare before Christmas, Deck, you've reached
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: a turning point in your life, the moment when the
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: storm clouds part and the sun comes out and your
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: luck begins to change. For now, okay, now maybe the
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: time to make a big move, whether you switch careers,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: begin a new romance, jumpstart lifestyle shifts, or relocate across
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: the country.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: And buy a bunch of wombats. Yeah. I mean he
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: didn't relocate across the country, but he relocated like way further,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: so yeah, across the world.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: Basically, I'm going to count it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: It says you'll get you'll have good fortune on your side.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: We know it doesn't.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Last, but right, but it does occur.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: It does.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Although this may appear for tuitous, it's all part of
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: the grand plan for your life.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, it's the Magician.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Our keywords for the Magician are hidden power, magical ability,
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: mastering unseen forces.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I think this is relating to all of these magical
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: little things like the gun.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: When the Magician shows up in a reading, he indicates
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: you have special powers, but you may not realize them yet,
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: or you may not be using your powers.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Huh.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Use your intellect, intuition, talents, and practical skills to manifest
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: your dreams. The magician reminds you that you're constantly creating
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: your reality and that your thoughts are the forerunners of manifestation. Upright,
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: the magician recommends getting in touch with the unseen world
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: instead of focusing only on the material one. They aren't separate.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: What we usually think of as reality is an illusion.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Ooh wow, that was weird.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: The presence of the four magic tools, which also represent
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: the four elements as discussed in chapter three, on this
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: card suggests that everything you need is right there at
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: your fingertips. Your connect with your power, and aligning yourself
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: with universal forces to achieve your goals and desires. In
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: a reading about money, the magician tells you to tap
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: into the universal flow to attract abundance. You possess the
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: resources inner and outer to generate wealth. This card can
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: also advise you to take control of a financial matter.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Weird, okay.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: The magician can also symbolize a position in a spiritual
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: field or studying spiritual wisdom.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: His magical urbs that he's studied. In a reading about love,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: this card may represent a relationship that contains a strong
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: spiritual or magical element. You and a partner may be
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: on a spiritual path together, encouraging and inspiring one another,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: or just suing each other over this, you know, very strange.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: It could be like Melon arts relationship, though it could
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: be Yeah, the whole magical properties, because like the whole
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: thing was like, there's so many items with weird or
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: seemingly magical interesting properties. Yeah, let's see what my little
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: booklet says, just in case. It says, like the Witches
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: of Halloween Town, the magician combines raw talent and ambition
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: with focused action to manifest a magical vision. Up right,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: you're bubbling over with creative and creativity and inspiration. Now
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: is the time to do something meaningful with it, like
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: maybe open a wombat rescue shut up. Yeah, put action
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: behind all of your inspired energy to make real progress. Focus,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: come up with the plan, and make your dreams come true.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: He totally did that. He did that, I think. So
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I didn't really put all of the details about Mel
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: into these episodes because it's already a lot. Yeah, it
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: is kind of one of those ones. There's a lot
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: to it. But he did say one of his dreams
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: was to move to Australia, and he did it. He
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: did it. He opened a wombat rescue. I don't know
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: if that was specifically part of his dream. It probably was,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, why not the Pinnacle kind of you know,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: the Pinnacle thing kind of is on a circle and
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: it looks a little bit like it could be a coin.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: It does look like it's a coin that doesn't actually exist,
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: like a Pinnacle coin.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: I have something bigger than a coin that looks like
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: a really oversized Pinnacle coin.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice, you'll throw that in there too, Just toss
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: it in so many holes. Yeah, make a wish. Wow,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: we are going to do a arrow read to red
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: for the thrilling conclusion of Mills Whole of Mysteries. My goodness.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: We have three of potions in this card. Is kind
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: of interesting because it's like a man inside a man
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: inside a man.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: I don't really care. So what do we decide that
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: potions is in this deck?
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Cups? Cups done because potions go on a cup. Come on, Caitlin,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: keep up, no, yeah, so immediately I think of the
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: creature inside the creature.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: So for three of cups. Keywords are celebration, fulfillment, friendship, community, happiness.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Fun. That sounds like how I feel being done with
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: this episode.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: The Three of Cups in Many Decks depicts three young
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: women holding chalices aloft as if toasting each other in
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: some packs. The women are dancing and clearly having fun.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: A positive card, it suggests you have something to celebrate.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: The upright interpretation says you're enjoying a good time with
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: people you care about and admire. You could think of
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: this as the cheers card. It can also indicate expressing love, inspiration,
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: and creativity with a community of like minded people.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: That's interesting because he did go to a group of
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: like minded people.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Sure did.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure if they, you know, had a grand
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: old time. I mean, I guess at the end. So
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: at the end, when the Basque elder gave him the coin,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: the coin, they were, you know, they were all hanging
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: out kind of I don't want to say celebrating, but
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: hanging out before mel to leave. So I think they
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: all had, you know, a pretty decent time together.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: Yeah, seems like a positive end, I guess.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Rip.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, the common bond between you fills your cups and
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: brings blessings to all. In a reading about money, the
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: three says you profit from a collective undertaking. It shows
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: you reaping rewards from an investment made with other people,
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: like a seal.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: He did you know it did? Karamu cancer? I mean,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: that's a pretty great reward.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: Allegedly, if the reading is about your job, the upright
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: three assures good fortune from a group efforts. You feel
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: joyful and fulfilled with the results. It's time to celebrate
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: your success. In a reading about love, this card can
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: represent a merit which it shows you celebrating your love
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: and extending affection beyond your primary partnership to include friends, community,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: and kindred spirits. I mean, do you have an extra excerpt? Okay?
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: The Three Graces Greek mythology speaks of three goddesses of joy, charm,
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: and beauty, known as the Graces. The three of cups
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: reminds us of the famous painting prima Vera by the
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Renaissance Italian painter Soundro Botticelli, which shows these three beautiful
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: young deities dancing together. That's exactly what it reminds me of.
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: You know, it's a funny they said that because I
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: was just gonna say.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: That totally totally yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: Okay, well that was that it? Yeah, No, that was it?
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Okay, three of cups.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: I'm just not sure that we were going to get
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: a card that that is representative of all of the
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: whack doodle.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I mean the creature inside the creature though,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: that was maybe the best that they could do.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: The visual representation in this is alarmingly on point.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Yeah, a little long the nose.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: I honestly, I feel like I'm ready to just go
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: ahead and light a candle.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: In remembrance of the sheep. The sheep.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: I'm just ready to move on. I feel like our
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: space might need a quick cleanse.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Well before we go go. I have one more little
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: detail that I did want to share. I just wasn't
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: sure where I was going to place it. It just
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: didn't fit anywhere that I could think of Mel. I
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: think it was in one of the first it was
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: either the first or second interview. He said that he
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: had in his will that he was to be thrown
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: in the hole after he passes. So yeah, I think
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: mel will would probably be void now, obviously because he
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: doesn't have control of his land anymore.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: But okay, mm hmm.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Malls whole.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I need more wine? Or why more wine?
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Oh? Here?
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, ring for wine.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: If you think anything relates to the card to the episode,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: if you have anything to say about the episode, let
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: us know, have a creepy ass day. We'll see you
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: next Thursday.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Unless I fall into the why.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: Oh but it doesn't not go We definitely won't see
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: now because no one knows who he is or his
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: whole or his cancer curing seal.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Oh my god, like I think you're like holding my breath.
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: Like that made me so nervous. I headed birth
