Transcript
- 0:00Uh.
- 0:03Jasmine, oolong, green
- 0:06and white. Long ago, these four
- 0:08teas were skilfully brewed at the Blissful Brew.
- 0:12Then everything changed when the shop's
- 0:14popularity threatened its existence.
- 0:17All Mr. Okeron, the shop's owner and tea
- 0:20master, could do was to recruit four teenage
- 0:23orphans to learn his trade and staff his
- 0:25shop. A year has passed since the orphans were
- 0:28hired, and although their skills have progressed, they
- 0:31still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything.
- 0:34But I believe that they have the potential to make the
- 0:37Blissful Brew the greatest tea shop in the
- 0:39world.
- 0:41And welcome back, everybody, to ah,
- 0:44season two, almost at episode two, season two of
- 0:47Benders and Brews. We did it. We,
- 0:50uh, I was going to say came back. We did
- 0:53it.
- 0:56We got it. Okay. Awesome.
- 0:59So glad that you can be here for season two. We're super excited
- 1:02about the show and, uh, where we're going to go with the
- 1:05second part of this story now that Mr.
- 1:07Ochron is dead.
- 1:10What?
- 1:10Oh, sorry. Michaela wasn't there for that. No, I'm just kidding. Everybody
- 1:14was there for that. We hope you were there for that also. Yeah, if you
- 1:16didn't listen to season one, that's a problem.
- 1:19You should jump back there and do that before you
- 1:22jump into if you listened to the
- 1:25season two, episode zero episode,
- 1:28you had a warning there, and now you're getting another
- 1:31warning. Yeah. And
- 1:34if you haven't listened to season one yet, then
- 1:38you're just ignoring everything that we're saying
- 1:41to warn you about spoilers.
- 1:44Anyways, all right, so let's get started into, uh, what
- 1:47we usually do, which is, uh, before we get the episode kicking
- 1:49off and start playing, we're going to go around and ask everybody
- 1:52a question. Kind of a fun little question. We're going to
- 1:55take a page out of one of my favorite tabletop, uh,
- 1:59role playing podcasts out there,
- 2:02which is Dungeons Daddies. Uh, so I'm going to go around the
- 2:05room. Rather than posing a specific question to each
- 2:08one of you, I want you to just tell me an interesting,
- 2:10fun fact about your character. Something that we
- 2:13didn't necessarily know or wouldn't have been
- 2:16able to gather necessarily from just listening to the
- 2:19show. I'm going to kick things off with Connor.
- 2:22All right. So, uh, for
- 2:25he's according to his character description,
- 2:28he's a pretty beefy boy. He's a big. Yeah.
- 2:31Yep. So how he does that, I mean, I'm sure everybody's
- 2:34wondering, how does he maintain that?
- 2:36Physique? So he is able to
- 2:39make his own workout equipment and
- 2:42gear just through rocks. Right
- 2:44on. And he doesn't even need to do any
- 2:47exercises because he can Earth bend the weights
- 2:50down to just add resistance. So he can just do it
- 2:53all. He could do it all with some pebbles if he wanted to. I've
- 2:56never even thought of it. Oh, he's like increasing the
- 2:58density, weight, science things.
- 3:01Increasing the resistance. For a guy that's real.
- 3:04Just brawn. He's also got some brain, apparently.
- 3:07Well, only when it comes to that. Working
- 3:11on. Right on. Okay. Okay. Uh, Dave.
- 3:13Dave, what do you got for GuoHan?
- 3:16So GuoHan really likes when it
- 3:19rains, but not for the reason you
- 3:22might think. Um, it's because it
- 3:25makes mud, which is really great for
- 3:28making fake footprints.
- 3:32Back at the carnival, there were rumors
- 3:35going around about this
- 3:37giant, absolutely huge
- 3:40penguin seal that
- 3:42would get into all sorts of trouble every time it
- 3:45rained, but really was just GuoHan
- 3:49walking around with some giant
- 3:51penguin feet he fashioned
- 3:54out of some stone or something. Yeah. Oh, that's
- 3:57amazing. Wonder who started the rumors.
- 4:04Uh, Cameron, tell me something interesting
- 4:07about
- 4:10does avatar have, like, normal weeks,
- 4:13like Monday through Sunday? I think so.
- 4:16I mean, I'm sure they'd have, like I don't think they mentioned it in the
- 4:19show at all. Yeah, you'd know, if you watch
- 4:22they didn't talk about this. I say as I'm sitting here having watched it, and
- 4:25I can't I'm not 100% I would assume so. Yeah. So we're just going to
- 4:28go for sake of argument? Yeah. Monday through
- 4:31Sunday. Okay, sure. Every Thursday night,
- 4:33bill sneaks away to
- 4:37meet, um, up with a group of, uh, elders.
- 4:40What? Uh, they have a local,
- 4:43um, uh, I think I'm
- 4:46going to quote this correct pi show
- 4:48gathering where they play pi show as a group.
- 4:51And Bill really enjoys the game, so he sneaks
- 4:54away to play with them, play, uh,
- 4:57the game against them and stuff. And he's gotten really good at the
- 5:00game, but he doesn't like to tell others that's what he's
- 5:03doing. So he just kind of sneaks off. If
- 5:06anyone asks, he just says, oh, I was off, like the library or
- 5:09something. Okay. But he's playing pie show.
- 5:12He's playing pie show with old people. And he's kind of embarrassed
- 5:14about yeah. Is
- 5:17it like in, uh, New York or like in the parks? Yeah,
- 5:20he's playing, like, basically those old guys who just play, like,
- 5:23chess. Hustlers. But he's playing, like, pie show hustlers. Pie show
- 5:26hustlers. 100% that exists. Oh,
- 5:29yeah, probably. Yeah. Pie show hustlers. I love it.
- 5:32I was really thinking that for a second there, you were going to say he
- 5:34sneaks out and he meets up with a group of people
- 5:37and plays dungeons and dragons. And I was going to
- 5:40be like, I see what you but no. Pi show makes the
- 5:43closest thing. Yeah,
- 5:46that's how Pi show works. I play the white
- 5:49lotus fighter rogue.
- 5:52All right. M Michaela, uh,
- 5:55what's going on with Mika? What's something interesting?
- 5:58Um, well, when she was very little,
- 6:03um, she used to carry around an
- 6:05egg.
- 6:10And then and then ah, yeah. Suspense
- 6:13is killing me. Egg girl. See, if she
- 6:15wouldn't break it well.
- 6:17She carried it around because she really wanted a pet,
- 6:20and she was told she needed to show some
- 6:23responsibility.
- 6:24Okay.
- 6:25So she carried that thing around forever.
- 6:27And one day, she
- 6:30was out flooding around with
- 6:33the penguin things,
- 6:36and her egg broke. But in her
- 6:39defense, the egg was rotten at that point,
- 6:42so she's had it for a pretty long time.
- 6:44Oh, gosh. So she's just, like, laying there in the
- 6:47snow with, like, rotten egg all.
- 6:48Over sometimes, you know, she
- 6:51can get a little bit emotional around broken eggs,
- 6:54but no big deal.
- 6:56She doesn't like she's like, tea shop. I could deal
- 6:59with anything to do with breakfast.
- 7:02Mr. Okeron's dead, but this
- 7:04eggshell
- 7:07brings back memories. Mr. Ogron's laying there with a knife
- 7:10in his back on the floor. And then she looks over and there's an
- 7:13egg that got flipped over on the table and shattered on the
- 7:16ground. And she just starts bawling. And everyone's like, it's okay,
- 7:19we're going to make it through this. And she's like the egg. And they're like,
- 7:22what are you talking about? The
- 7:25egg is broken? Wow,
- 7:28that's dark. Is it? It's an
- 7:30egg.
- 7:32It was her first pet.
- 7:34So it's like a pet rock.
- 7:36But it was it was her pet.
- 7:39She's giving her a pet rock. Mika's got a lot of
- 7:42intense feelings about this.
- 7:45Don't get me started on egg.
- 7:48All right. Uh, interesting fact about me.
- 7:51Uh, I'm Skyler. I'm the DM.
- 7:54And I don't know, I sliced my finger
- 7:56open while making fried rice this weekend. But it
- 7:59was good. It was worth it.
- 8:01And I didn't finger making rice.
- 8:04Uh, well, first of all, it was fried rice, and there were, like,
- 8:06vegetables involved. And I had one of those, like,
- 8:09you push the slice to slice things.
- 8:12Yeah, like a mandolin.
- 8:14And, uh, I don't use it very often.
- 8:17I'm pretty good when it comes to cooking with a knife. Like,
- 8:20chopping stuff up and not hurting myself. But
- 8:23I'm not used to the mandolin. And I thought, oh, this was, like, a much
- 8:26easier way to chop up these onions. And
- 8:29since I'm not used to it, I got my finger in there. And
- 8:32here we are. But it's all good. It's wrapped up.
- 8:35It looks funny. And yeah, no
- 8:38stitches. Well, that was by choice, but I
- 8:40digress. Did that Scotch tape around your finger? I put
- 8:43some on to hold the bandaid in place because it would, like, slide
- 8:46because it's on the tip of my finger. So it's, like, hard to keep it
- 8:49covered, but then the bandaid wants to slide off.
- 8:52I don't know.
- 8:53Sometimes your best just isn't good enough.
- 8:55Got me there. And with that, we're going to jump
- 8:58into season two, episode one.
- 9:04And ah, with that, we're back season.
- 9:07Why are we laughing? We're kicking things off in a yeah, this is a
- 9:10four time relax.
- 9:16To get through their grief.
- 9:17Okay, that's true. The scene opens
- 9:20on all of you standing inside of a large
- 9:22room. Various, uh, pews lining.
- 9:25I say pews benches, whatever you want to call them,
- 9:28lining the sides of this, uh, interior
- 9:31space. Uh, large windows
- 9:34have sunlight shooting in through it, but it's kind of
- 9:36a deep orange sunlight as it's kind of
- 9:39nearing towards the afternoon. The late afternoon.
- 9:42Yes. The golden hour. Exactly.
- 9:44Um, your now dead
- 9:47friend Mr. Okaron lays I don't
- 9:50know there wasn't a better way to put that
- 9:54lays motionless inside
- 9:57of a stone casket at
- 10:00the front of this
- 10:02indoor space. And, uh, the rest of
- 10:05you, as well as a number of community members, are all
- 10:08lining these benches that I previously mentioned. And
- 10:11a man at the front of the room is
- 10:13finishing up his long winded speech
- 10:16about Mr. Okaron and his service
- 10:19to the community and the amazing tea shop that he
- 10:22ran and just how generally nice of a guy
- 10:24that he was, how kind hearted he
- 10:27was, et cetera, et cetera. Um, I don't
- 10:30know if any of you might
- 10:33have gone up to say anything. You don't
- 10:36have to, like, on the show. You
- 10:39don't have to do that right now. But
- 10:41if anybody would have
- 10:45no, I'd say GuoHan would not
- 10:48have gone up in front of the crowd.
- 10:50Okay. I think Brock would have, but
- 10:53it would have been a very short winded
- 10:56speech. Right. What would the tone have been?
- 10:59Would it have been, like, angry, or would it have
- 11:01been sad or
- 11:05in form of sad? I think it would probably be a
- 11:08combination of sadness and anger. Okay.
- 11:11I would think so. Okay.
- 11:14Right on. Um, so as
- 11:17he finishes, this man that's up there finishes up his
- 11:20speech, uh, the doors of
- 11:22the area suddenly swing open, the
- 11:25big, heavy double doors or whatever, and
- 11:28you all turn because it's quite loud. And there's
- 11:31Madame Yang standing there
- 11:34in the doorway, and she says,
- 11:37Is the ceremony not over yet?
- 11:42And turns to let the door close behind
- 11:45her. And, uh, so the door
- 11:48closes behind her as she exits.
- 11:51Uh, you could see that as she was turning, she had kind of
- 11:54a smirk on her face almost. Um,
- 11:57it stings. It definitely stings inside. Just
- 12:00seeing her and maybe feeling some sort of
- 12:02resentment like this might be her fault in some way, shape or form, whether
- 12:05you have proof or not, there might be thoughts in the back of your head
- 12:08that might be thinking in that direction.
- 12:11But whatever the case, uh, the service comes to the
- 12:14end, and probably a number of people probably
- 12:17come and maybe shake your hands or if you let
- 12:20them give you a hug. Not
- 12:22Mika. Mika did not, um, whatever the
- 12:25case, um, just kind of going around
- 12:28kind of stemming off of what I asked how's how's
- 12:31each character really feeling emotionally
- 12:34in this situation. Connor, you said
- 12:37kind of a mix of anger and sadness.
- 12:40Mix of anger and sadness, um, because he
- 12:43died during the fight. And, uh, feel
- 12:46like Brock is feeling a bit remorseful in that
- 12:48he felt he could know helped Mr.
- 12:51Okeron as well, uh, during the fight, but he
- 12:54was just too tunnel visioned on
- 12:57the Coyote boars. Sure,
- 13:00sure. Maybe some of that anger
- 13:03is sort of internal. Kind of almost angry
- 13:06at himself a little bit. Yeah, it's mostly at himself.
- 13:09Gotcha. Gotcha. Uh, what about
- 13:11GuoHan? Uh, what's GuoHan feeling right
- 13:14now?
- 13:17Um, he's definitely feeling sort
- 13:20of almost regressed,
- 13:23I guess. He's feeling sort of regression, like
- 13:26he's closed off right now.
- 13:29Um, like
- 13:32feeling a bit lost. Okay. Um,
- 13:36because this was, like, father
- 13:39figure to him almost. And then
- 13:42now he's gone. Where's he going to go?
- 13:46He doesn't have somebody to kind of help lead him
- 13:48through life, but, uh,
- 13:51he's angry
- 13:54and more confused than angry. Like,
- 13:57just doesn't know what direction to go
- 14:00or where to direct
- 14:03his emotions, really. Sure. No, that makes
- 14:05sense. Uh, Bill
- 14:08Dore? What, uh, is Bill Dore feeling right
- 14:10now? Like he's a failure.
- 14:13Okay. That's probably the biggest
- 14:16emotion.
- 14:20Um, yeah. He swore to himself he wouldn't
- 14:22let something like this happen again, and
- 14:29now he's going very much on a slippery
- 14:32slope. Uh, but unlike last
- 14:35time, he actually has someone that
- 14:38he can lash out on other
- 14:41than himself. And so, in a
- 14:44very unhealthy way, he has
- 14:47very much been secretly plotting
- 14:49and making moves to try and get
- 14:52back at the Wild Coyote bars,
- 14:56uh, without the others knowing about it.
- 14:59Okay. But if they try to talk to him, he's
- 15:02very closed off, and he hasn't actually said a single
- 15:04word to any of the other three since it's happened.
- 15:07Okay. Um,
- 15:10I'd ask what those moves were, but I
- 15:13almost want to find out along the
- 15:15way. I think that might be a better way to kind of reveal those
- 15:18things as they happen. I'm kind of
- 15:21intrigued. So we'll leave that, uh, kind of a bit of a
- 15:24mystery to see later on. Um,
- 15:27what about Mika? I mean, Mika's kind of been a little
- 15:30bit offish, I guess you could say, between
- 15:32her and Mr. Okran. I know she's kind of had this
- 15:35hesitance to trust him and
- 15:39see him as much of a father figure as some of the others
- 15:41have, or even just a close friend. So what is her
- 15:44feelings right now that he has passed, uh,
- 15:47away?
- 15:49Um,
- 15:52I would say that she is definitely feeling
- 15:55different emotions on the inside than she does on the outside.
- 15:59Um, she's probably closer to Mr. Oprah
- 16:02than she let people believe.
- 16:04Sure.
- 16:04Um, but I would say
- 16:07on the outside, she's more stoic,
- 16:10kind of I don't know. And then on the
- 16:13inside, I would say she's pretty much just, like, in denial
- 16:16of the whole
- 16:19situation.
- 16:20Right. It just hasn't really set in
- 16:23so much, or she's not letting it
- 16:26set in, I guess.
- 16:26Right.
- 16:27Okay. All right, so there's definitely a lot of
- 16:30pain and a lot of anger going on between all of you.
- 16:33And, like, I said, as the people come around,
- 16:37um, kind of say their, um
- 16:39what's a word for that? People kind of at
- 16:42funerals. I know there's a word for that. They offer
- 16:44their condolences. Yeah, there we go.
- 16:47Okay. I think it's indulgences, their
- 16:50indulgences. They offer you indulgences, they hand you a piece of
- 16:53paper. Oh, thanks. You've been forgiven of
- 16:55yourself. No, they, um, offer you their condolences
- 16:58and such. And a lot of it just kind of
- 17:01in one ear, out the other. For a lot of you, it
- 17:04doesn't mean much. I mean, you see a lot of friendly faces. You see
- 17:07a lot of people that you recognize from the city
- 17:10of Gaoling, people that you remember
- 17:13Mr. Okaron helping or talking to or
- 17:16being friends with and stuff. So to some extent, there
- 17:19is a little bit of comfort in the fact that they're
- 17:22here, they're with you.
- 17:24You can see the pain in their eyes and kind of share
- 17:27with that a little bit. But of course, at the same
- 17:30time, you guys had a very different
- 17:33kind of connection with him, obviously.
- 17:35And as this is all finishing
- 17:38up, um, people are leaving, heading
- 17:41out, and so on and so forth. You guys all obviously kind of stayed behind
- 17:44because given your closeness to Mr. Okran, practically
- 17:47his children, there's a little bit of responsibility on
- 17:50each of you when it comes to this funeral.
- 17:53Um, a man approaches you
- 17:56and
- 18:00let's see,
- 18:03where is it at? There we go.
- 18:07A man approaches you. You see, Madame, uh, yang actually
- 18:10comes back into this funeral
- 18:13space. And a man approaches you, and he
- 18:16begins to tell you, uh, or talk to you all, and he says,
- 18:18uh, yes, hello. My name is Father
- 18:21Bart. Father, are you sure your friend
- 18:24has gone to heaven?
- 18:27Oh, my. Okay. Perhaps you could
- 18:30assure yourselves by buying these
- 18:32indulgent they're back.
- 18:35No. Get out of here. Beat
- 18:38it. My name is Mr. Wu,
- 18:40and, uh, I actually represent
- 18:44the shoot. I don't know if there's, like, an
- 18:47office for situations like this,
- 18:50but, uh, I represent a government office that's
- 18:53responsible for, uh,
- 18:55items to be it's sort of a law
- 18:58office, essentially, items to be passed on
- 19:00to others when someone passes
- 19:03away. And, uh, I just wanted to talk with all
- 19:06of you because it sounded like you four were the
- 19:09closest to Mr. Okaran. Uh, given that
- 19:11he owned a tea shop and had a number
- 19:14of tools and utensils and etc, as
- 19:17well as, of course, the building space itself,
- 19:20it, uh, seems that it's a little
- 19:23bit up in the air as far as, um,
- 19:26who it's supposed to go to. Uh,
- 19:28unfortunately, we couldn't find a will
- 19:31inside of the house when we checked
- 19:34things. Uh, did our investigation. I don't know if
- 19:36any of you know of this will that may have
- 19:39been written out
- 19:42existing. I feel terrible about this because,
- 19:45as I mentioned, you four were from what I was
- 19:48told. Practically his children, to some
- 19:50extent. Um, but legally, uh,
- 19:54speaking, I can't
- 19:56technically hand off anything to
- 19:59you that was
- 20:02his. Well, what's going to happen to the tea
- 20:04shop, then? Uh, well, the tea shop and all
- 20:07of the assets within it, uh, in a week's time, will
- 20:10have to be auctioned off
- 20:13unless document, uh, can be brought forth.
- 20:16That shows that Mr. Okaron wanted that ownership to
- 20:19be left to someone.
- 20:21Think I think he told us something, uh,
- 20:24about a will. Uh, it was in the shop,
- 20:27but the place got ransacked, as
- 20:30you can plainly see. So, uh, if
- 20:33you could just give us a couple of days to sort of sift
- 20:36through all the damage, and we can get it to
- 20:39you in a couple of days. Well, of course,
- 20:42since you all had lived there for quite some time,
- 20:44and obviously he had you all living there,
- 20:47you have again, until the end of the week
- 20:50if there might be some chance that there's a
- 20:53document that exists, as you said.
- 20:55Oh, absolutely there is.
- 20:58Okay, well, uh, we just got to
- 21:01get all of our are they just
- 21:04ducks in this universe? Are they like turtle
- 21:06ducks? I know there's turtle ducks, but I could have
- 21:09sworn that ducks might have been one of
- 21:12the animals. I don't know. There's definitely turtle ducks.
- 21:15We got to get all of our turtle ducks in a row
- 21:17before with this situation here,
- 21:20before we can go get that. Yes, of course.
- 21:23Again, I sincerely apologize. I don't mean
- 21:26to bring up such an ordeal, but I know it's obviously
- 21:29important for all of your well being, and I want to
- 21:32see that the right people
- 21:35have access to it. Uh, the lady over there, and
- 21:38he points over to Madame Yang, and he
- 21:40says, uh, she was inquiring about it as well. It
- 21:43seems that she has some interest in possibly
- 21:46purchasing, uh, the building
- 21:49itself, the tea shop, and the various resources
- 21:52within. So, again, I just wanted to let you all
- 21:54know if a document isn't presented by
- 21:57the end of the week, everything,
- 22:01well, uh, if you have
- 22:06and she's old,
- 22:10um, look at her hair. She's
- 22:13terrible.
- 22:15I try not to make judgments based on age
- 22:18or hairstyles, but again,
- 22:21if you do find anything, please do let me know,
- 22:24and, uh, we can get this all sorted out in
- 22:27the most official and appropriate way possible. Thank
- 22:30you. And he, uh, kind of gives you
- 22:33all a bow, and then he walks away and heads out the
- 22:36doors. Um,
- 22:40following, uh, this, madame
- 22:43Yang approaches,
- 22:46and she well,
- 22:48well, uh, one week's
- 22:51time, eh? I suppose I'll be seeing
- 22:54you all. Then
- 22:57she turns and starts to head towards the door as
- 22:59well. She's got pretty good hearing for
- 23:02an old person.
- 23:06And she turns ever so
- 23:08slightly. She just glares at you
- 23:11with an icy, death glare and then
- 23:14turns back and continues on her way.
- 23:17That's right. Keep walking.
- 23:20And she does, and she walks herself out the
- 23:23door. Brock, what were you
- 23:26saying about a will? Oh, I made that
- 23:29up. I had never heard anything, but I
- 23:32figured we could probably find something, though
- 23:35he has to made something. I
- 23:38was just trying to buy his time.
- 23:39Yeah, we can't have Maddie Yang take over.
- 23:43She was probably in on it.
- 23:45Yeah, she was speaking very cryptically.
- 23:48Bill, you doing okay?
- 23:52Guess
- 23:56suddenly you, uh, from one of the corners
- 23:59of this I don't want to call it a church. It's not really a church. I guess
- 24:02you could say temple, maybe. Um, you
- 24:04hear a voice from the darkness,
- 24:07the darkest corner of this small temple
- 24:10area. Go
- 24:13over here.
- 24:16I'll go investigate. Sure. All right.
- 24:19Um, you start to approach, and
- 24:22sure enough, there's a man in a dark
- 24:24cloak mysteriously sitting in this
- 24:27dark corner, almost invisible. If you didn't
- 24:30maybe see or hear him go to
- 24:33investigate, get close enough, and then maybe see him wave a
- 24:36little bit or something. Like you almost wouldn't have even known he was
- 24:38there. Uh, can I help
- 24:41you? Uh, he takes off his hood, and he kind of
- 24:44leans forward so that a little bit of light kind of reaches him.
- 24:47Uh, he's got long, dark brown
- 24:49hair, uh, very masculine features,
- 24:52nice, thick chin. And he's got a little
- 24:55bit of kind of not like a heavy beard, by any means,
- 24:58but like a solid what do you call
- 25:01that, bristle? Stubble. Yeah,
- 25:04stubble coming down. And,
- 25:06uh, he says, my name's
- 25:09Otra, but most people just call me
- 25:12Strider.
- 25:18Cool. Uh, Bro, why were you in the
- 25:21shadow of Strider?
- 25:24Just where I thrive.
- 25:28Uh, are you okay? Do you need a
- 25:31doctor or something, man? No, I'm fine. I,
- 25:34uh, was actually a good friend of
- 25:36Ugarons. Oh. Uh, yeah, he,
- 25:39uh, wanted me to give you this,
- 25:42and he hands you a piece of paper. Did you just
- 25:45say who's? He said
- 25:47ukara did he say oh, it's just my
- 25:50accent. Okay.
- 25:53What does he give me? He gives you a
- 25:55letter. It's like a sealed envelope
- 25:58with a wax
- 26:01seal on the back.
- 26:06Any idea what this is?
- 26:08Might as well just open it.
- 26:09He said to give it to the four
- 26:12teens at his funeral if anything were to happen
- 26:15to him, which he kind of implied in the letter that he sent
- 26:17me. When did he send you this letter? Well, I
- 26:20received it about three days ago.
- 26:24Okay, I'm going to read the letter in front of him, um,
- 26:28so I can still converse.
- 26:31Can you? That's a question for Broccoli.
- 26:34Can you? I think I can.
- 26:37Worst case, if I can't read it, I'll just sound out the
- 26:40words. Yeah,
- 26:45then it'll just be strider will just become so frustrated,
- 26:48he'll just take it out of me. Let me read it to you. Gosh.
- 26:51No. Can I just do that
- 26:53to all
- 26:56who it can
- 26:59read.
- 27:03That's my name. Rock. Uh
- 27:07uh
- 27:10huh.
- 27:13Uh um just give me the letter. I'll read
- 27:15it myself. Except this one, I think.
- 27:18Who's Bill? That's, uh, the guy over there. The very
- 27:21stoic man with
- 27:24this specific one is for
- 27:28you, and he hands you a note.
- 27:31Um, but the main one, it's just
- 27:33a letter to all of you. Um, it basically
- 27:36talks because I didn't write this out. I did write out the other one
- 27:39for Bill. Uh, but it basically just talks about how much
- 27:42he cared about all of you. He felt that
- 27:45there was something that might happen that might
- 27:48cause him harm
- 27:50or possibly death. And he wanted to make sure
- 27:53he was scared to keep the will in the house
- 27:56or in the tea shop, and so he's
- 27:59hidden it, and he wants you
- 28:02all to find it in order to
- 28:04make sure that you guys get
- 28:07his stuff. Did the old man really give us.
- 28:09A map, like a treasure hunt?
- 28:12A treasure
- 28:16hunt? Yeah. I mean, there's this, and then there's the paper
- 28:18ah. That he gave
- 28:22Bill. I'll read it for you.
- 28:25Bill definitely would not want me to read
- 28:27it. She's leaning over his shoulder. He would kind of pull it
- 28:30away from her.
- 28:31Okay, I'll just give you a nice hug.
- 28:32I'll read it for you, Bill. I can
- 28:36read. Does he read it out
- 28:39loud? Does Bill read it out loud? Yeah,
- 28:42um, I guess it's spoken to us. Why would he read it out loud? Not
- 28:45at no, he reads
- 28:48it quietly to himself. He doesn't read it out
- 28:50loud.
- 28:51Okay, I'm going to read it out for sure.
- 28:53No. Yes. And there's a
- 28:57map potentially not on.
- 28:59Yours, on the main one. Yes, there's a map.
- 29:01That's all you gave us.
- 29:02Well, we don't know what's on yours.
- 29:03I guess this is the wait,
- 29:05the Wills hidden somewhere in the
- 29:12house. The letter that you guys got that Strider reads to
- 29:14you, explicitly says that it was in
- 29:17the tea shop, but he has since
- 29:20sent it somewhere or taken it somewhere
- 29:23and hidden it because he was worried that
- 29:26somebody would come after him for
- 29:29it. And that kind of obviously sparks the
- 29:32thoughts of how the tea shop looked pretty
- 29:35ransacked. So you wonder if maybe somebody was, in fact looking
- 29:38for it. Well, Bill,
- 29:40uh, what's your letter
- 29:45say? Some sort
- 29:47of it's some sort
- 29:51of
- 29:54riddle. Do you want me to read it? No, I can read
- 29:57uh, well, it's not that I thought you couldn't. I
- 29:59just figured I offer. I mean, I can read it out loud.
- 30:02Free service. I offer, I guess. I can
- 30:05read it out loud. I can charge for it, I
- 30:08guess. Yeah, go for
- 30:12it. Are you going to stand here? Wait, I can leave.
- 30:15This is all I had to do. Okay. Uh, all right.
- 30:18Nice meeting you. And
- 30:20Strider leaves. I got that
- 30:23guy's deal all mysterious in
- 30:26the shadows. I've
- 30:29got some short benders to go. Right. I've
- 30:32never thought I'd meet someone edgier than Mika. Take
- 30:35to the fiery mountains of the
- 30:37Fire Nation to drop a
- 30:39necklace into. You're just
- 30:45remaking. I'm glad this character is gone.
- 30:49Now there's an earthbender that makes his own legs.
- 30:52His name is Legless.
- 30:55Really good with throwing
- 30:59rocks. Okay. Anyways, go
- 31:02ahead. This corner is pretty drafty. Can we go somewhere
- 31:05with better lighting?
- 31:09Sure. What's it say? I can read it while we walk,
- 31:12I guess. Back to the shop. There you
- 31:15go. It.
- 31:20Says, Are you, like me, a fan
- 31:23of piracy or privateering?
- 31:26Um, out in your DND campaign. Well,
- 31:29check this out. We have been working on a
- 31:31brand new airship combat system.
- 31:34That means you and your privateer crew can
- 31:37now take to the skies and pillage at
- 31:40new heights. Within this system, you
- 31:43will get three dimensional dynamic movement
- 31:46and combat rules. You'll get a brand
- 31:48new updated air crew system, as well
- 31:51as brand new spells, items,
- 31:54creatures, and example airships for you to use in
- 31:57your campaign, as well as crews to put
- 31:59on them. But I think the coolest part about all of
- 32:02this is we have a custom
- 32:05shipbuilder application that will allow you to customize
- 32:08and build your very own
- 32:11airship. It means you and your team can have
- 32:14exactly what you want as you take on the
- 32:17skies. If you're interested in any of that, check out our
- 32:20Sky Zephyrs Kickstarter here at Hermione and

- 34:06Let's get back to the
- 34:10show. Bill, my boy, you're tried and true.
- 34:13I now bestow a gift to you when on
- 34:16the seas, a ship we met, and a pirate ship we
- 34:18were beset. You and I were taken captive
- 34:21on an island where we adapted. Although in
- 34:24danger, we resided and quietly. Our time
- 34:27abided until the moment of opportunity. You and I
- 34:30escaped in unity. Return yourself to island shores
- 34:33and the next clue will soon be yours. Return
- 34:36to the past. Look through the back. Use the flame in your
- 34:39heart to reveal the map. And once you
- 34:42arrive, don't forget about the tea. Bill, you remember where you
- 34:45were on the boat with me. You created a combo so strange
- 34:48in my mind it did in print. So look to your
- 34:51creation of mango and
- 34:53mango and that's where it
- 34:56stops. Lime. No,
- 34:59it's definitely mint. Uh,
- 35:01you just didn't add it because it didn't rise. Well, no, it doesn't
- 35:04say anything. Uh, it stopped with mango and but
- 35:07I remember that day. And,
- 35:10uh, I came up with the concoction of mango. Man you
- 35:13guys saw it in the shop. Mr. Okaron named it special
- 35:16number three. Oh, that's where that
- 35:19came from. Yeah, it was definitely for me. It was two
- 35:22down from that one tea. What did he call it?
- 35:24Mambo
- 35:27number three. But yeah, I
- 35:31came well, I came up with this the first day I
- 35:34met Mr. Okeron. He asked me to make
- 35:37a tea combo, so I did, and that's what I came up
- 35:40with. So if he wants you to return to an
- 35:44island, do we need to look where?
- 35:47Because he cuts off before mints. Is there a
- 35:49mint container in the tea shop
- 35:52that might be able to scrounge up, maybe hit something in there, maybe the
- 35:55next clue somewhere? I guess we could look for the
- 35:58mint box or something. I don't
- 36:01know.
- 36:04Yeah. All right, so you head back to the
- 36:07tea shop and
- 36:09things have been picked up a little bit since everything
- 36:12happened. Obviously when you guys walked in and
- 36:16found your friend on the floor, um, guards
- 36:19were called, an investigation ensued. Not
- 36:21much had come from it. You guys got
- 36:24everything ready for the funeral? They had the funeral. And in
- 36:27the meantime, during that time, you cleaned up, um,
- 36:30in fact, community members, because know a lot of the
- 36:33people in Gao Ling really supported and loved
- 36:35Mr. Okran. So a lot of people would come by, they
- 36:38would help clean up. They'd bring
- 36:41you casseroles, as people
- 36:43do in,
- 36:46um, uh, uh, whatever the case. I mean, for the most
- 36:49know, there was a really nice support from the
- 36:53community. Um, so things are mostly back to normal. So
- 36:56if you're looking for something or whatever, it's probably back in the place
- 36:59that it normally was that you guys would know pretty well from working in the
- 37:01tea shop.
- 37:04Well, uh, Mika and
- 37:07I aren't going to be too much help because we're just always washing
- 37:10dishes. So where do you guys keep the
- 37:15mint? Don't you guys help make
- 37:17the dishes? I just do dishes.
- 37:20Mr. Okran made all the tea. Well, he kept
- 37:23all his no, I helped sometime. It's
- 37:26right over. And you withdraw
- 37:29a container of some dried
- 37:31mint
- 37:34leaves. I just
- 37:37gotta pop this bad boy open.
- 37:39Just dump it all over the counter. I, uh, popped, like,
- 37:42the cork off the top of
- 37:46it.
- 37:46Guys, we should just drink the mix.
- 37:48Of mango and
- 37:51ah, good. It's a good combo. Mr. Okron
- 37:54said so himself. He probably was lying, but, you
- 37:57know are you going to try?
- 38:00No.
- 38:01Cheers to Mr. Okron.
- 38:02Oh, no. He knew how much I hated tea. Pour it out
- 38:05for him for the homies. Pour one
- 38:08out for Okra, the legendary special
- 38:10number three.
- 38:13Uh, Guo is digging through the
- 38:15mint container,
- 38:18okay? Trying to check if anything
- 38:21bless it. He grabs another an
- 38:24empty container and empties it
- 38:27into it. Okay,
- 38:29uh, so he's taking the tea out of one container
- 38:32into he wasn't finding anything right away, so he
- 38:35just transferred the mint all into a different
- 38:38container. Okay. He's looking inside the container to see if
- 38:41there's anything in the bottom or anything.
- 38:44Okay,
- 38:47um, uh, as you do this, it's starting to get
- 38:49dark outside. And obviously, given the
- 38:52technological situation of the world of Avatar last airbender during
- 38:55the 100 year War, somebody,
- 38:58um, I would assume one of you probably goes around to
- 39:01start lighting candles inside of the
- 39:05space. Okay? All right, sounds good. So that way you guys can have
- 39:08some light, uh, maybe some of the tables.
- 39:13Um, nothing is inside of
- 39:16the mint container,
- 39:20unfortunately. I don't see anything in here, guys.
- 39:24Um, Bill, what does your letter say?
- 39:27Doesn't say we have to go to an island or something, like,
- 39:30return to the shore where it all began or
- 39:32something. So it's kind of
- 39:35a long
- 39:38story, but I guess you,
- 39:41uh, guys should know the full story to be able to help me with
- 39:44this, because I'm completely lost,
- 39:48honestly.
- 39:48Just look through Mr. O'brown's stuff. It talks about
- 39:51a ship, an island. Look at his
- 39:54personal belongings and see knickknacks,
- 39:56you know, maps or
- 39:59ships in a bottle
- 40:02or something.
- 40:04I guess you could do that.
- 40:07You can say I'm right.
- 40:08It's okay.
- 40:10Okay, um, I don't think have you ever had
- 40:13a ship? Well, we
- 40:16were captured by
- 40:18pirates. Um, Mr. Okeron and I were,
- 40:21when we first met,
- 40:24uh, actually captured the wrong word. We were more part of a
- 40:27trade deal. Yeah, that's about the right word.
- 40:30Yeah, that's true. It was a weird trade deal is what happened
- 40:33to us. And we got
- 40:37traded with pirates to let the rest of the
- 40:40crew go, the rest of the passengers go.
- 40:43Mhm. Uh, it was some fire nation
- 40:46general that organized the whole trade deal
- 40:49as well.
- 40:52And it was weird. But
- 40:54anyways, um, we got put on a pirate ship
- 40:57and then we helped the pirate crew for a day. Mr.
- 41:00Okra made them a bunch of tea and I swabbed the deck
- 41:03and also knocked out a guy with bow staff,
- 41:06so always been good at that, I guess. Uh, and then
- 41:08we escaped on a dinghy with a bunch of
- 41:11his tea and we
- 41:14landed on the shores not too far from here in
- 41:17that dinghy. Now I don't know what Mr. Okron did with
- 41:20the dinghy itself. Maybe
- 41:23he left it there all these years. I've never returned to
- 41:26that spot. But
- 41:29I don't know. Just reading this, it says, return yourself
- 41:32to island shores. And the next clue is still
- 41:34new. So part of me thinks that if we went back
- 41:37to the exact same spot where
- 41:40we washed up, that might
- 41:42be where we go. But then talk to Matt
- 41:45about a map and I think that might be where we
- 41:48find a map. Oh,
- 41:51maybe, uh, here. I'm going to assume that you guys
- 41:54are all I'm going to hand it
- 41:57to Han. Okay. The
- 42:00riddle not Mika. I'm going to assume you guys are sitting around
- 42:03one of the tables discussing this at the tea
- 42:06shop. And as you go to
- 42:09hand the piece of paper, you can kind of feel a little bit
- 42:12of the heat from the candle in the middle of the table that's giving
- 42:15you guys light. And as the
- 42:18map passes by and that heat kind of emanates
- 42:21towards it, um, you notice
- 42:24some sort of scribbles on the back of the
- 42:27paper of the letter. It's not actually
- 42:30on there, Dave.
- 42:34Sorry, those were my personal scribbles. But I'm just saying
- 42:37in the game you notice some scribbles on the
- 42:40back suddenly sort of appear. Guys, it smells
- 42:43like lemons. Okay? Like
- 42:49lemons.
- 42:51Wait, there's something on the back of this. Or is this just
- 42:54the trick of the
- 42:57light? It is in fact not the trick of the
- 43:01light. What does it say? Well, it's
- 43:04only a fragment. It looks like just, uh, like I said, a
- 43:07few scribbles of lines at the
- 43:13moment. No, it does not say
- 43:23that I had it upside
- 43:26down. It's just a message from Mr. Ogron that
- 43:29says whoa, you a
- 43:33sussy got him. No, um, hold it
- 43:36closer to the
- 43:39flame. Catch it on fire. Catch it on
- 43:41fire. Uh, you bring it a little bit closer to
- 43:44the candlelight and more
- 43:47of this
- 43:50mysterious situation sort of starts, uh, to grow
- 43:53across the page, almost like filling itself in. And
- 43:55you realize that on the back of this page is
- 43:58a map leading to an
- 44:01island, um, shows where you guys are at from Gao
- 44:04ling all the way over to, um,
- 44:07an island that you guys maybe have heard of. I,
- 44:10uh, feel like GuoHan probably definitely might have heard of because he's
- 44:13traveled so much. But, um, it is an island known as
- 44:16Whale Tail Island.
- 44:18Whale Tail Island. Um, it's
- 44:21right off of the shores of, uh, the
- 44:24Earth Kingdom, kind of, uh,
- 44:27I think it's at the bottom there. Sorry. We have
- 44:29a map on the wall.
- 44:32Yeah, that's where they sold Aang
- 44:35they were bringing up. Yes,
- 44:38but they,
- 44:41um so that's where this map seems to
- 44:44be leading you. Well, I, um, guess
- 44:47we got to find a
- 44:51boat. Should we head down to that shore, see if we can find anything?
- 44:53Do we have enough.
- 44:58Time? How long does it take to get to Whaletail
- 45:02Island? Game Master do you have that? I could, but
- 45:05I feel like it might be something you'll have to ask
- 45:07a character. All
- 45:10right, well, I figure we head down to the shores. There's probably
- 45:13some sailors, fishermen we could talk to.
- 45:15Maybe we can try and commandeer
- 45:18a boat. How long
- 45:21does it take to get there again?
- 45:25Well, we got to ask one of them.
- 45:27They'll probably know. Oh,
- 45:30um man, looks like we're going on a trip,
- 45:33guys. I got to go pack a bag for
- 45:37Dilbert. I was going to say before we left, someone's got to feed him. I don't
- 45:40think he's eaten this entire time. Oh, gosh, poor guy must be
- 45:43hungry. That poor little cephalopod.
- 45:45Uh, whatever the case, you guys spend the rest of
- 45:48the night planning a little
- 45:51bit prepping, packing, and obviously
- 45:54feeding Dilbert. Uh, you wake up the
- 45:56next morning feeling
- 45:59rested and ready to go a little bit maybe
- 46:02nervous, probably. And
- 46:05hopefully, to some extent, this has
- 46:08reignited some of the fire that might have been lost
- 46:11by, uh, the depressing circumstances. But
- 46:14whatever the case, uh, you head out and one place that you know
- 46:17of in town that offers sort
- 46:20of travel assistance,
- 46:24um, it's located kind of on the edge
- 46:27of Gaoling. I don't know. They have a couple
- 46:30of, like it's basically like, what do you call them?
- 46:33Travel agents. It's like a travel
- 46:35agency. And you're like, okay, well, I'm
- 46:38not necessarily going on a paid vacation, per se,
- 46:41but I'll go check it out and see if they can give me information.
- 46:45Maybe, um, you arrive and
- 46:48there's ah, the lady at the
- 46:50front desk,
- 46:53but there's somebody talking to her. And rather
- 46:56than her greeting you, this person just turns around. It's an
- 46:58old man. He's crooked, almost at a
- 47:0190 degree angle of his back. Turns, uh, around
- 47:04and sees you all and he
- 47:07says, where are you three go, four
- 47:10going, where are you headed? Are you going on
- 47:14vacation? We're going to the island of
- 47:17Nunya. Nunya? I've been
- 47:19to Nunya. I'm sure you
- 47:21have. Uh, it's quite
- 47:24a place?
- 47:27Yeah, that's where we're going. So where are you
- 47:30actually.
- 47:33Going?
- 47:33Whaletail island. Whale
- 47:36Tail Island. We don't really
- 47:39offer much of, uh, water
- 47:42travel here at our agency, but, uh, we could get
- 47:45you across the mountains to the shores. It's? Uh, right
- 47:48over by Chin Village. That's where you want to go.
- 47:51Oh, was he the travel agent? Yes. Oh, I
- 47:54thought he was, like, an old man that he was helping. I like to
- 47:56think I'm more of a guy. I thought
- 48:00the person behind the desk was helping the old crooked
- 48:03man, and then the customer asked, uh, that's why I
- 48:05said,
- 48:08nunya going to blow this random guy off. And then it
- 48:11turns out it's like he's actually the
- 48:14guy. I'm so
- 48:17sorry. I thought oh, man.
- 48:20So you're a guide? Yeah, I'm a guide. I can get
- 48:23you across the mountain. There's mountains that you're
- 48:26going to come with us? Not, uh, all the way
- 48:28to Whaletail. Like I said, I don't offer, uh, uh,
- 48:31water, uh, travel. But I can get you down across
- 48:34the mountains. I know that area real
- 48:38good. How long does a trip like that take us? Oh, if
- 48:41you go my way, usually it only takes about a
- 48:44day. I like that we only have
- 48:47six, so we got to make it down and back in
- 48:50that time. Wow. You guys only have six days to make
- 48:52a whole big trip by the magic. What's going on? Is
- 48:55someone dying?
- 48:56Yeah, somebody died.
- 48:58Not anymore. Bring that up.
- 49:01I'm sorry to hear that. Do you offer,
- 49:04uh, Bereavement discounts by chance? I do
- 49:06not. Um, how much does it cost for
- 49:09the shot? Do it for 100
- 49:12yuan a day. What? Uh,
- 49:15okay, man, uh, what about how.
- 49:17About some nice mango mint
- 49:19tea?
- 49:21That what who came up with
- 49:24that? Special number three. What
- 49:27specials? One, two, cherry,
- 49:30uh,
- 49:32lime,
- 49:34raspberry. Hibiscus, I will
- 49:37take either of those over. Special
- 49:40number three. Come on. Special number three is not
- 49:42that bad. It sounds like it just doesn't
- 49:45make sense.
- 49:46So what you're saying is you'll take it instead of the
- 49:49100?
- 49:49You got it. Okay, I'll do a,
- 49:52uh, bereavement discount. I'll do 50. You ought
- 49:55a day. That's not
- 49:58bad. He's got to make a living
- 50:02somehow.
- 50:02We're, uh, angsty.
- 50:09Teens just died. How much living does he have
- 50:12left to do?
- 50:15I
- 50:18hurt people. Their earring is supposed
- 50:21to be lost, not enhanced. I
- 50:24mean, we did kind of shake down the coyote board, so it's not like
- 50:27we're strapped for cash. How much do you get
- 50:29from them? We still have the thousand we were supposed
- 50:32to give them. I mean, we
- 50:38don't most of that's stuck in repairing the
- 50:41shop. Yeah. So we had one, uh, thousand.
- 50:45Yeah, the, uh, Blissful brew that
- 50:47got ransacked a couple of days
- 50:50back. Did you buy it? No, we
- 50:53worked there. He, like, squints his eyes, and
- 50:56he gets real close. He goes, oh, yes,
- 50:58I remember you. Yes, I've seen all of you
- 51:01going down. Wow. Okay, if you guys are involved with
- 51:04Mr. Okaron, the late Mr.
- 51:07Okra okay, well, then, yeah, I feel a lot better about
- 51:09the Bereavement
- 51:12discount. What a guy. You said you can
- 51:15get us over the mountains in one
- 51:18day? Yeah, by
- 51:20foot. Yeah. Um, why? Do you not
- 51:23like walking? Well, you see yeah. Uh, because me
- 51:26and my friend here, we're both Earthbenders. Is there a quicker
- 51:29way we can go through the mountain?
- 51:31Not currently, but, uh, there's people working
- 51:34on it. That really chaps
- 51:37my
- 51:40khakis. What are khakis? You're in ancient
- 51:43times, sir. It's just a phrase. It's just a term.
- 51:46Oh, you're starting something new. Yeah, I hope
- 51:48it catches. Uh, I like to think I'm
- 51:51streets ahead. You wouldn't want to
- 51:54be caught streets behind that's
- 51:57right. All right, guys, well, this is an emergency,
- 52:00so let's just pay the man what he needs. Yeah, pay
- 52:03the man what he needs. Yeah, Brock, pay the man what he needs. All
- 52:06right, fine. Apparently
- 52:09well, if anyone would protect the money the best, it'd
- 52:12be you. Okay, that's fair. All
- 52:15right. You would steal I have been whatever
- 52:20extra you'd be slowly siphoning the
- 52:24account. Which one of us ran the register? Uh
- 52:27uh. Okay. Yeah, glo did. I've
- 52:30been keeping track of our finances throughout
- 52:32this adventure. So we
- 52:35can
- 52:38afford I have it all tallied down here. Does anybody else have
- 52:41it? No. Okay. Yes, we
- 52:43have enough. Gohan only works with the money when he's
- 52:46on out, when he's on the
- 52:51clock. Combined, we have more than enough
- 52:54to cover. So we'll pay you
- 52:56the 50 and can you start taking us
- 52:59there now? Yeah, of course I can. I'm ready to go. And
- 53:02since you paid my fee, that's what, uh
- 53:05uh, hits me at the point where I will introduce myself to
- 53:08you. And he holds out his hand to any of you, I
- 53:11guess, and he says the name's
- 53:14Rooney. I'll, uh, say, there we
- 53:16go. A big strong man shaking
- 53:19hands with little
- 53:23old Rooney. Tall is this guy. Well,
- 53:26that's the tricky. So, like, he looks like he could be
- 53:29like maybe upper five foot, like
- 53:31five foot 910. But
- 53:34like I said, his back is so messed up. He's at like a
- 53:3790 degree angle. He's like 3ft
- 53:40tall. He got a cane. He's 3ft. Or is he just
- 53:43like no, he's just still walking walking.
- 53:46And he got it as an L. Yes, he's a
- 53:49walking walking
- 53:53seven. If he turns both of it. If he lays his hands out
- 53:56flat and turns them in opposite directions while he walks,
- 53:59he's like, mark their sevens with the
- 54:02line in the middle. What he would look like when he wants to
- 54:05get maximum speed. He puts his hands on the and
- 54:07starts crawling. Oh, gosh, that would be
- 54:10terrifying.
- 54:14Yeah, he's just running in all if he starts running, he
- 54:17puts his arms behind him. And he's always
- 54:20naruto. Would that make him like a capital T?
- 54:28Yes. What was this guy's name? Rooney.
- 54:31Rooney. Uh, Rock. Doesn't know how to read, but sure knows his
- 54:37letters. Yep. I can sound out letters
- 54:40pretty well. There you go. Um, as you
- 54:43guys are walking sorry. You guys start following him. He starts
- 54:46leading you. He's like, all right, you guys are all packed?
- 54:49Yes. Good. You're going to be glad
- 54:52you did. All right. On our
- 54:55way. And he starts to lead you guys through. And it's
- 54:58a pretty straightforward shot to the mountains
- 55:01themselves. Um, lots of hills, lots of
- 55:04ravines. Um, it's pretty uneventful
- 55:07until about like four
- 55:10or 5 hours through, maybe six
- 55:13maybe 6 hours in. And
- 55:16you guys start, uh, to notice that there's like a
- 55:19pathway that started to become carved out into
- 55:21the mountains. It's, um, a pretty
- 55:23wide pathway. And he's leading you
- 55:26through an area that's like, alongside of it, but
- 55:29not actually on the pathway itself. Do you
- 55:32think is a little bit maybe
- 55:35strange? Why, uh, aren't we walking on this
- 55:37path? Why are you taking us over here? Oh,
- 55:41yeah, it's under construction right now. See, just up
- 55:44ahead and he points and you can see some dust
- 55:47that seems to be rising like a dust cloud.
- 55:50Um, uh, kind of further down you can't quite see because it's
- 55:53over a mountain hill, but there's a dust cloud kind of starting to rise
- 55:56up. And he's like, yeah, they've been working on this path. That's why I kind of
- 55:59made that comment earlier about they're
- 56:02working on a way through the
- 56:05mountain, but it's not done yet. Can we go check it
- 56:08out anyways? There's not much to see. It's just a bunch
- 56:10of guys earth bending their
- 56:13way through.
- 56:14Sounds like a waste of time.
- 56:16I agree. It's a big waste of time when you
- 56:19got guys like me that can get people through the
- 56:22mountains, easy peasy. But
- 56:24could we, in theory, get through quicker if we talk to
- 56:27those guys? Like I said, it's not done
- 56:30yet. I mean, you'd get so far and then it would
- 56:33just be back
- 56:36to bear walking the
- 56:40mountain. Well, I mean, why would it be brought
- 56:43up if not some sort of
- 56:46adventure? We're on a time French
- 56:49frog adventure. Yeah, we're on an adventure. We're on
- 56:52a freaking treasure hunt. All I will
- 56:54say is, how much adventure do you
- 56:57need? Sounds like a cool thing. You
- 57:00do eventually come up to where the cloud
- 57:03is kind of rising from. And sure enough, there's a bunch
- 57:05of what look like Earthbenders that seem to be
- 57:08like stomping the ground and moving rocks and stuff out
- 57:11of the way as they're making this pathway
- 57:14through. Um, there's a main guy
- 57:17with like a fancy outfit on and
- 57:20he seems to be kind of directing
- 57:23people. And you guys are kind of coming up alongside of this whole
- 57:26little construction
- 57:32situation. Man, these guys always sing the catchiest
- 57:35tune.
- 57:38Yeah. Don't make me have to go find
- 57:42music. It's very rhythmic
- 57:45work. It is very rhythmic. There's seven
- 57:48different octaves being sung at the same time.
- 57:50It's fantastic. And they all somehow
- 57:53sound like Skyler gorset. Oh, god.
- 57:56Uh, sounds like the Dwarves from
- 57:59yes, the Hobbit. That'd be
- 58:03awesome. Um,
- 58:06yeah, that's the scene that you see as you guys are walking
- 58:09on by. Why would this be brought up if
- 58:12not for interactions? That's all I'm
- 58:15saying. Is this Connor talking? This
- 58:18is breaking the fourth
- 58:22wall. Why would this be happening?
- 58:25That's so narcissistic. Sorry,
- 58:29broccoli. Would this be happening if not for us to
- 58:32check it
- 58:35out? No, it's fine. If you guys want to keep going,
- 58:38that's fine. Just keep going. I mean, if I'm getting outvoted
- 58:41here, you're definitely getting outvoted
- 58:44here. Um, I want to see a bunch of guys push
- 58:47rocks. If we're, like, walking, kick right past
- 58:52it. If we're walking, like, right past it. Can't
- 58:55though. It's not my power. Yeah, you're pretty,
- 58:57like, alongside. Like I said, you guys would be kind of like
- 59:00up on a hill section overlooking
- 59:03their progress that they're
- 59:07making. It looks like they're doing good work,
- 59:10but not complete. How long have they been working on
- 59:13this for? Oh, man, it's been about maybe
- 59:16two years I think now. Uh, yeah, they weren't going to
- 59:19finish today. Brock they're about halfway done.
- 59:22I think they've really plowed through the center of the
- 59:25mountain, practically.
- 59:28It's, uh, something about
- 59:31trading with a fire nation and
- 59:33something I don't know what they're trying to do, but make, uh,
- 59:36it easier, I guess,
- 59:39with
- 59:41Galwing. Yeah. Try to get me out of a job,
- 59:44that's for
- 59:47sure. I guess we'll just keep
- 59:50going. How long have you been doing this
- 59:53route? Me? Oh, man. I found this route when
- 59:56I was growing up in these mountains as a
- 59:59boy. That was long before I was bent at a
- 1:00:0290 degree angle.
- 1:00:05Oh, so you weren't born that way? No. Did you think I
- 1:00:08was born that way this whole
- 1:00:11time? I don't know. What do you take me for?
- 1:00:14An l name a seven.
- 1:00:16A seven. That's better than an
- 1:00:18ah, lucky number. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:00:21I like to think I'm quite lucky. I've been
- 1:00:24making my way through this mountain pass and surviving all
- 1:00:27the dangers, minus the one that put
- 1:00:30my back the way it is. Just,
- 1:00:32uh, rock fell on me. Wait, something
- 1:00:36happened? Oh, no. Just a rock. Really big
- 1:00:39rock fell on me.
- 1:00:42Uh, yes, my back stayed this shape, but
- 1:00:45I can still walk around. What
- 1:00:48happened to the rock?
- 1:00:50Uh, it fell
- 1:00:52off me and it
- 1:00:55hurt. Well, not the rock I hurt. And then
- 1:00:58I crawled back home. Crawled back.
- 1:01:01Uh, and I don't know whatever happened to that rock.
- 1:01:04I'm sure it's off happy with its rock.
- 1:01:06Family go like a healer.
- 1:01:08Went, uh, to a chiropractor it did not
- 1:01:11work.
- 1:01:16Yeah, we're walking and
- 1:01:21talking. It's not like we idly stand there. We
- 1:01:24wait for the dialogue box to
- 1:01:27continue these
- 1:01:33mountains. As um, you guys are
- 1:01:36leaving the scene of the construction work
- 1:01:38in your wake. You um,
- 1:01:41suddenly hear a huge
- 1:01:44explosive
- 1:01:47sound. And you can feel the uh rocks and such
- 1:01:50around you rumbling. And Rooney seems very surprised.
- 1:01:53What is going on? And all uh, of a sudden you start
- 1:01:56to hear shouts and screams coming from over in
- 1:01:58the construction
- 1:02:02area. We got to go see. Everyone's okay?
- 1:02:05Right. I don't know. We maybe should just get out
- 1:02:08of here. There could be an
- 1:02:11avalanche. Wait, those aren't seem like an
- 1:02:14avalanche.
- 1:02:15Mudslide seven could just have more friends. Need start
- 1:02:18a gang?
- 1:02:20No, he has a job already. He doesn't need to start a
- 1:02:23gang. Why are you talking about starting a gang? You ever heard
- 1:02:26anything like this explosion? It
- 1:02:28sounded like more look like it sounded
- 1:02:31like something was crawling out of the
- 1:02:35mountain. What crawling
- 1:02:37out of the mountain? Is he hard of hearing?
- 1:02:40Um, my fox dog starts running towards
- 1:02:43it.
- 1:02:43Okay. Oh, there goes the
- 1:02:46dog. There he
- 1:02:50goes. You're going to lose that fox
- 1:02:54dog. Gilbert's riding
- 1:02:57it out of his squid bottle and
- 1:03:01just there goes the
- 1:03:05squid. Why are you so familiar with all the
- 1:03:08animals? Oh, there goes
- 1:03:12that. I've seen an animal or two. We've been
- 1:03:15with this man for 6 hours. Practically is
- 1:03:18our uncle at this point. All right, I'll run after it. No one
- 1:03:21else will. I'll save. There goes the
- 1:03:24big guy. No, I'm running after. There
- 1:03:27goes the little guy. You
- 1:03:29guys saying no I'm already
- 1:03:32uh, there goes the only
- 1:03:37girl. Um, just you and
- 1:03:41me. Let's go check it out, I guess.
- 1:03:44And you head off. Yeah. Be mindful of your back.
- 1:03:47Well, as you start walking he says and there
- 1:03:51goes the guy. And here
- 1:03:54goes me. And he
- 1:03:57just starts heading forward very
- 1:04:00much. Beelim. He's like a pointer
- 1:04:03dog. There you go. He just moves in the direction that
- 1:04:06his entire body is pointing pretty much. Um, as
- 1:04:08you guys make your way up towards the
- 1:04:11construction site, you see before to you
- 1:04:14a giant collection
- 1:04:16of rocks that seems to all be combined
- 1:04:19to itself. As if a humanoid
- 1:04:22shape with two arms and two legs. No
- 1:04:25real head per se. Um, but on the top of
- 1:04:28where the head would be is a small red gem that
- 1:04:31glints inside the sunlight. And it seems
- 1:04:34to be swinging and smashing
- 1:04:37down towards this construction crew who is all
- 1:04:40jumping and leaping out of the way. Some of them look injured. They look
- 1:04:42like they've had rocks fall on them. Um, they're not in an
- 1:04:45L shape but I digress. And uh, that's
- 1:04:48the scene that you see before
- 1:04:51you. And as Rooney approaches and you guys are
- 1:04:54all seeing this happening below you in the ravine where
- 1:04:57they were digging out, he says, oh my
- 1:05:00gosh, it's a mountain spirit.
- 1:05:03And with that, we'll come back to
- 1:05:06the mountain spirit next
- 1:05:11time.
