- 2:19Speaker 2: Okay? For me? I am good.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I am back and I'm happy to be back, trying
- 2:25Speaker 3: to get back on track. But you know what it is,
- 2:29Speaker 3: what it is. It's actually was cool today in South Carolina.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Got a little hot this morning. But when I took
- 2:37Speaker 3: a walk. It was like eighty eight degrees. So now
- 2:40Speaker 3: we're good. Okay, But y'all know what we're here for
- 2:46Speaker 3: a new book and a new author, So tonight. Now
- 2:52Speaker 3: I know y'all know I'm bad at means, so I
- 2:55Speaker 3: want to say it's a Lena or a lot of Smith.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So let me tell y'all a little bit about the ath. Okay.
- 3:02Speaker 2: She is an author, a.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Mental health nurse, practitioner, entrepreneur, doctorial candidate whose writing blend's
- 3:13Speaker 5: real life emotion, resilience, love, suspense, and personal transformation.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Y'all, that was a whole whole, a whole lot of
- 3:25Speaker 3: words going on there, but we all read it every day, okay.
- 3:30Speaker 3: She writes across multiple genres which I love, include romance,
- 3:36Speaker 3: dark romance, psychological thriller, urban fiction, and inspirational fiction. Through
- 3:43Speaker 3: her books, she creates stories that speak up to healing,
- 3:47Speaker 3: second chances, complicated love which I know a lot about survival, ammunition,
- 3:55Speaker 3: and the strength it takes to rebuild at the life
- 3:58Speaker 3: partest season, Spring up, missus Alana Smith.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Hey, how are you hey?
- 4:07Speaker 6: How are yall?
- 4:08Speaker 4: Hi?
- 4:09Speaker 6: Everybody? That's good?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Thank you. See that's my type of author. Let's get
- 4:16Speaker 3: into it, so I write a little bit of your bio.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Can you tell us something else that I might have
- 4:24Speaker 3: not spoken of, or something else you think we should know.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I think you hit it on the nose. I started
- 4:33Speaker 4: writing when I was fourteen. Actually, I actually started with poetry,
- 4:38Speaker 4: and that was.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Very sacred for me.
- 4:42Speaker 4: It was like all types of pieces of me on
- 4:45Speaker 4: that paper, you know, back then. And I'm telling my age.
- 4:47Speaker 4: You know, we had to write everything by hand. It
- 4:49Speaker 4: wasn't a laptop or anything like that. You know.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so true.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And when I said that to my daughter, now she
- 5:00Speaker 3: y'all didn't have laptops. Look at her, girl, I said,
- 5:04Speaker 3: the computer was as big and I would pull out
- 5:07Speaker 3: something and do my hands. She was like, in computer
- 5:10Speaker 3: has a trunk, that's a calm. Like, you know, I makeing.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Me feel old.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So I mean, it's the summer and one thing that
- 5:24Speaker 3: I do the summer, just because the summer, the education
- 5:29Speaker 3: doesn't end in my household. So I gave her a
- 5:33Speaker 3: pencil and I said, here's these questions. I need you
- 5:37Speaker 3: to answer the questions about the book. I gave her
- 5:40Speaker 3: the pencil. She sent it to me and a Google doc.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, say.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So tell me you're an author, Now, what are your
- 5:57Speaker 3: goals for your writing career.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Well, I want to write things that stick to people,
- 6:04Speaker 4: things that are relatable, things that make somebody sit back
- 6:07Speaker 4: and say, man, what you know? Or man, she's right
- 6:11Speaker 4: about that. You know, because a lot of romance or
- 6:14Speaker 4: even second chance. You know a lot of people have
- 6:16Speaker 4: been through a lot of these roads before, so you know,
- 6:19Speaker 4: it's good to have something that can real people in.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I mean to read a book and have relatable points
- 6:30Speaker 3: in the book that would make me go and get
- 6:33Speaker 3: more books by that author, because I'm like, Okay, I
- 6:36Speaker 3: mean this author has some type of connection.
- 6:39Speaker 6: So that's the I want to make people feel something.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Whether it's romance, suspense, you know, urban fiction, whether it's
- 6:46Speaker 4: psychological thrillers, no matter what it is, especially inspirational.
- 6:52Speaker 6: You know, self help books. We need those, We need those.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yes, we do.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I see you have written a lot of books. I've
- 7:03Speaker 3: seen your catalog and I've seen the website. Are how
- 7:09Speaker 3: did you come up with the titles of your books?
- 7:13Speaker 6: Well, that's an interesting question because.
- 7:18Speaker 4: The way the way my mind works, I can be
- 7:21Speaker 4: having a conversation, I can be listening to just a
- 7:25Speaker 4: random conversation. I could just be driving like and I'll
- 7:29Speaker 4: be like, oh, that's the book. That's a book. My
- 7:32Speaker 4: husband just shakes his head. Me I said, yeah, that's
- 7:34Speaker 4: a book. So there's no rhyme or reason. It just
- 7:39Speaker 4: it just comes to me, you know. I could or
- 7:42Speaker 4: I could be just kind of sitting on my balcony
- 7:44Speaker 4: just just looking by the water because water speaks to me, okay,
- 7:48Speaker 4: and so it just it's random. I'm not gonna lie random,
- 7:52Speaker 4: but my mind is just always shooting out ideas.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Now, since we're talking about books, ooh, this book you got,
- 8:03Speaker 3: and I'm gonna show y'all the cover in a second.
- 8:08Speaker 3: M girl, y'all the love and the intense emotion on
- 8:17Speaker 3: the cover of this book.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Let me explain the off this myth. I am a
- 8:22Speaker 2: cover girl.
- 8:24Speaker 3: If your cover is sitting in a bookshop and I'm
- 8:28Speaker 3: like walking down and it makes me stop, believe you me,
- 8:32Speaker 3: I'm taking a but youre coming back for it and
- 8:37Speaker 3: adding it to my to be read this. Let me
- 8:40Speaker 3: show y'all what I'm talking about. Since you fumble, y'all
- 8:44Speaker 3: look at that. Okay, ma'am, can you please tell me
- 8:50Speaker 3: a little bit about.
- 8:51Speaker 2: This cover.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Listen.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I agree with you on covers needing to be attractive.
- 8:57Speaker 4: That's always the go I will sit and go through
- 9:01Speaker 4: this fifty different ways before I'm like, Okay, this is
- 9:04Speaker 4: it right here, this is it right here, because it
- 9:07Speaker 4: has to make you look sometimes I want you to
- 9:09Speaker 4: imagine yourself there right where they are, or connecting some
- 9:14Speaker 4: kind of way through that cover.
- 9:15Speaker 6: That's just first and foremost.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I can see you can't say that concept.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I mean, I haven't meet he fine, well, but but
- 9:28Speaker 3: that's true. But sometimes things aren't always what they've seen,
- 9:32Speaker 3: which is kind of like the story. Things might look
- 9:35Speaker 3: good on the outside, but behind closed doors, it's not
- 9:39Speaker 3: really shaken the way that it's supposed to be.
- 9:42Speaker 6: And so that's what this story gets into.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Somebody who gave eight years of her life two kids,
- 9:49Speaker 4: gave all of the soft parts of her to somebody,
- 9:52Speaker 4: and she stopped begging for leftover, stop begging for love,
- 9:56Speaker 4: finally chooses herself and he fumbled. So that's just the
- 10:00Speaker 4: way it happened, and she found love.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Ooh, okay, okay, I know se man, y'all we have
- 10:11Speaker 3: questions we should ask, but I got it in this
- 10:13Speaker 3: separate asks, girl, how did you come up with that?
- 10:19Speaker 6: Listen, did you come up with that storyline?
- 10:23Speaker 4: I've been to my own since I was seventeen, and
- 10:26Speaker 4: I've seen a lot, been through a lot, and I've
- 10:29Speaker 4: been through you know, relationships where people have fumble and
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm easy to love. So I'm the one that you
- 10:36Speaker 4: lose me. You lost the whole table. You say, what
- 10:38Speaker 4: does she bring to the table?
- 10:39Speaker 6: I am the table. So I've been through that.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Then they've done that, and so I was like, let
- 10:45Speaker 4: me let me put a little bit of this in here, y'all.
- 10:51Speaker 2: She said. They asked what did you bring to the table?
- 10:55Speaker 2: She said, I am the table. I'm stealing that. I
- 10:58Speaker 2: just want you to know that. I just want you
- 11:01Speaker 2: to know.
- 11:01Speaker 3: That's that's a lot to say, because everybody is talking
- 11:04Speaker 3: about what you bring to the table, what you bring
- 11:06Speaker 3: to the table? Literally, do we know what each other's
- 11:10Speaker 3: bringing to the table? Because y'all know when we look
- 11:13Speaker 3: at TV, right, y'all know how that butterbeat going all
- 11:17Speaker 3: over the pancake, that's not butter, that's oil. So are
- 11:21Speaker 3: you bringing your true self to the table? Everybody talk
- 11:25Speaker 3: about the table.
- 11:27Speaker 6: But I love that.
- 11:30Speaker 4: The women we love we're pushed and we're patient, and
- 11:34Speaker 4: we endure so much and then look, it's only so much,
- 11:37Speaker 4: you know before we're just next.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and y'all might not agree with me
- 11:46Speaker 3: about the song selection I'm about to say. R Kelly said, women,
- 11:51Speaker 3: woman sat up. Ain't nothing you could do about it.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And that is so true, because we as women, we.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Will keep we will.
- 12:04Speaker 3: We will cut a phone off, we'll sleep on it,
- 12:08Speaker 3: come back and be like, all right, we're gonna try
- 12:10Speaker 3: this again, try this again, try this again. So listen,
- 12:15Speaker 3: fellas out there, Well, she keeps coming back.
- 12:19Speaker 2: She loves you. Change whatever the issue is.
- 12:24Speaker 3: And if it's little changes, and even if it's her,
- 12:28Speaker 3: tell her what it is. You know what I'm saying
- 12:33Speaker 3: in a manner that is acceptable. Don't bark because she upset,
- 12:38Speaker 3: But you know what, that's a whole another show. We're
- 12:41Speaker 3: even gonna go, Okay, that's a whole nother show. Don't
- 12:47Speaker 3: answer your question, what is your target audience for this spook?
- 12:52Speaker 3: Are you looking for younger readers, older readers, any readers,
- 12:56Speaker 3: possibly gaining some male readers? Who do you target your
- 13:00Speaker 3: books too?
- 13:01Speaker 6: Definitely a mature audience.
- 13:04Speaker 4: This particular book, I would say for people who like
- 13:07Speaker 4: second chance romance, like that emotional depth of a book.
- 13:12Speaker 4: It's for readers who want to understand what it feels
- 13:15Speaker 4: like to love someone, somebody who's just like, well, I
- 13:17Speaker 4: want to read it about love.
- 13:18Speaker 6: This weekend, you're out on your.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Beach or your cruise, your cabin and you just want
- 13:22Speaker 4: to sit and feel something good.
- 13:24Speaker 6: This is for you, you know, So.
- 13:29Speaker 3: That second chance love is beautiful. I mean, it's something
- 13:34Speaker 3: about that second chance love book, especially if they go away,
- 13:40Speaker 3: find somebody else, come back.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, because you always wonder.
- 13:47Speaker 3: It's sometime the author will tell you at the end
- 13:50Speaker 3: why it came back. But it's great for the reader,
- 13:53Speaker 3: especially a reader like me, to set up thinking, yes,
- 13:57Speaker 3: what need then finally come back after they left.
- 14:00Speaker 2: So I love second.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Chances and at this betrayal, motherhood, healing, self worth, I
- 14:08Speaker 4: mean it goes.
- 14:09Speaker 6: It's layers in this book, learning to choose yourself again.
- 14:13Speaker 3: So yeah, all that in this book. Okay, I'm gonna
- 14:16Speaker 3: be truly transparent you guys. I haven't read this one,
- 14:20Speaker 3: so the same way you guys are being intrigued right now,
- 14:23Speaker 3: I think I'm beyond that form. Okay, all that in this.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Book, all of that is in this book. Ohl, okay,
- 14:34Speaker 6: trying to give you take bits without giving you too much. See,
- 14:36Speaker 6: you gotta read it to get into it.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Come, man, I already got the ball, I got the school,
- 14:43Speaker 3: and I got the cereal.
- 14:44Speaker 2: You ain't gonna pull me no more milk in here.
- 14:48Speaker 4: And just right after back from the first chapter, you're
- 14:51Speaker 4: gonna be like, oh yep, I said that before.
- 14:56Speaker 2: So it's really relatable if you are a femie.
- 15:01Speaker 4: And if you got that one friend that you know
- 15:05Speaker 4: who got your back, that one real one, because you
- 15:07Speaker 4: always got that one real one that's like, girl, listen, look,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I'm trying to tell you, come, come sit, we need
- 15:12Speaker 4: to talk.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, all all right, I have that.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Indeed, matter of fact, I might call her to marcuse
- 15:20Speaker 3: me and her ain't talking a good minute. But yes,
- 15:24Speaker 3: and the first thing you said, when you're on the
- 15:26Speaker 3: phone with them her, let me tell you what happened,
- 15:31Speaker 3: let me take your shoes off, put your bonnie on,
- 15:34Speaker 3: because she didn't give me off the phone no time soon.
- 15:36Speaker 3: So no, and now, but that one friend who's credible,
- 15:39Speaker 3: you know, everywhere out of her mouth or his mouth
- 15:42Speaker 3: is the truth.
- 15:43Speaker 6: It's gold.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I love that. So you said you first started when
- 15:50Speaker 2: you were writing poetry.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Okay, is there anything from your childhood that you are
- 15:58Speaker 3: writing in your poetry street.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Help you with writing this book.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say a lot of the emotional depth,
- 16:09Speaker 4: because you know, I was always very observant, even even
- 16:14Speaker 4: as a child, you know, writing I was very observant,
- 16:17Speaker 4: paying attention to everything I was.
- 16:19Speaker 6: You know, I was a little People used.
- 16:21Speaker 4: To call me and they used to say, you wear
- 16:22Speaker 4: your heart on your shoulders, your hopeless romantic.
- 16:25Speaker 6: That was always me. I didn't care. It was me.
- 16:27Speaker 6: It's still me. Yeah, nothing's wrong with the teacher's home.
- 16:32Speaker 6: But I would say that, I would.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Say that, you know, it's funny because one I had
- 16:38Speaker 4: this notebook obviously, you know, wrote everything down.
- 16:41Speaker 6: It was a thick one.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I had two of them, full of stuff, just full
- 16:45Speaker 4: of years worth of stuff.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Even as time went by. I remember one time I
- 16:48Speaker 6: lost that and I felt like.
- 16:52Speaker 4: A piece of me was like buried, Like everything just
- 16:55Speaker 4: went cold and dark at that time because you can't
- 16:58Speaker 4: get that back.
- 16:58Speaker 6: There's no flash drive, you know what I mean.
- 17:01Speaker 4: And so it made me actually stop for a little
- 17:05Speaker 4: bit of time. I don't know, I felt some kind
- 17:08Speaker 4: of way, it was like I was grieving, you know
- 17:10Speaker 4: what I mean, And so it wasn't I just had this,
- 17:15Speaker 4: but I still have the ideas.
- 17:16Speaker 6: They still kept coming.
- 17:17Speaker 4: They still I would like jack little tidbits here and there,
- 17:20Speaker 4: or would just keep them stored in my head. But
- 17:22Speaker 4: then I had this, my newfound love, and it created
- 17:26Speaker 4: that reawakening and that's what sparked me to start doing
- 17:29Speaker 4: this again. And so that it just got more in
- 17:31Speaker 4: depth and more layered. And so I was like, yeah, okay, I'm.
- 17:38Speaker 6: Back in the day.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Understandable, but let's step back one more time to your childhood.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I just wanted to act.
- 17:45Speaker 3: What was your favorite story or favorite book as a child?
- 17:51Speaker 4: M Okay, well we were talking about when I was fourteen,
- 17:55Speaker 4: so even you're not gonna be private, leave this. But
- 17:58Speaker 4: at fourteen, you know, I was into Norah Roberts, you know,
- 18:01Speaker 4: back then, I liked her my girl. I had a
- 18:07Speaker 4: library down the street I would walk to and just
- 18:09Speaker 4: find the romance. And that's when I really was like, whoa, Okay,
- 18:14Speaker 4: I see, I see what was going on here.
- 18:18Speaker 6: But see how I read.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I didn't know I was to hear me now, But yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 4: it's a matter of time has gone by.
- 18:30Speaker 3: So you know what it that's crazy that you said
- 18:35Speaker 3: one of my my parents, my friends or people would
- 18:38Speaker 3: know that I'm reading that. I think that about my child,
- 18:43Speaker 3: Like I'm in a I have so many books, right,
- 18:49Speaker 3: I'm one off. My daughter went I'm away, actually come
- 18:53Speaker 3: and read some.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Of my books.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Because now she she's skinning of age, you guys, like
- 19:00Speaker 3: Order is eleven years old.
- 19:02Speaker 2: She's going to middle school. And I am afraid.
- 19:05Speaker 3: She's smart, she's beautiful, she's intelligent, and she's into Hamilton.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I mean, and Michael Jackson her new found thing.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Now, I honestly do wonder has she ever sat down
- 19:19Speaker 3: and read any of my books?
- 19:23Speaker 6: You'll never know, I.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Know right, I would never know.
- 19:30Speaker 3: So let's go back to your journey as an author.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Do you are you self.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Published or are you in the publishing house?
- 19:42Speaker 6: I am now. I do self publish.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Now.
- 19:44Speaker 4: However, a good friend of mine, her name is Joycelickorice.
- 19:49Speaker 4: She's real, real big in the industry and in the
- 19:54Speaker 4: movie industry. Several movies you know that you can stream
- 19:57Speaker 4: right now. She actually owns a publishing company. During Empire,
- 20:02Speaker 4: she published a lot of my books, a lot of
- 20:04Speaker 4: my medical books. I write medical books as well, and
- 20:06Speaker 4: you know, as a psyche professional, and so I'm the
- 20:10Speaker 4: type of person that you know, I learned, I observe
- 20:12Speaker 4: or watch and I'm like, oh, okay, I can I
- 20:14Speaker 4: can do this. So she she helped me hold my
- 20:16Speaker 4: skills and so now I do self publish.
- 20:19Speaker 6: It's a journey, but I got there.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Do you do you do you love that journey? I mean,
- 20:26Speaker 3: because a lot of a lot of self published authors
- 20:28Speaker 3: are like, oh my god, I wish I never went there,
- 20:31Speaker 3: But I think I feel that they do that because
- 20:33Speaker 3: it's their first book. But I mean, how do you
- 20:37Speaker 3: feel about your self publishing journey?
- 20:41Speaker 6: I would say in the very beginning, when there was
- 20:43Speaker 6: a learning curve, it.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Was stressful, frustrated, especially when you're trying to do book
- 20:49Speaker 4: covers yourself. Because I do my book covers now and
- 20:53Speaker 4: so it can be stressful. But I would say to
- 20:56Speaker 4: people who are trying to self publish and go through
- 20:59Speaker 4: those frustration, just take a de breath, step back, do
- 21:02Speaker 4: your research, take your time, don't be afraid to ask
- 21:05Speaker 4: questions in the right form because there's so many.
- 21:07Speaker 6: Resources, and just keep going until you get it.
- 21:10Speaker 4: If that's what you really want to do because now
- 21:12Speaker 4: for me it's like second nature. It's nothing, you know,
- 21:17Speaker 4: it's just like another day. So now it's okay. But
- 21:20Speaker 4: in the beginning all it was stressful.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Well, I will say kudos to you. You said that
- 21:28Speaker 3: you create your own book covers.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I do.
- 21:31Speaker 6: Now can you just want to blow it up? In
- 21:36Speaker 6: the beginning.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You did a great I am so loving this cover
- 21:43Speaker 3: and the other ones because I have, like I said,
- 21:45Speaker 3: I have looked at your catalog on Amazon reach y'all.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Kutos to you.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I appreciate that because I'm telling you, sometime it's hours
- 21:55Speaker 4: and hours and hours, and you know what's funny. And
- 21:57Speaker 4: my daughter, my oldest daughter, who's twenty four, you know,
- 22:01Speaker 4: and if I'm sitting and spending too much time, she
- 22:03Speaker 4: comes in.
- 22:04Speaker 6: She's the Canva expert.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Mom. All you got to do is this, and she
- 22:07Speaker 4: pushes a couple of little clicks and I'm like, how'd
- 22:09Speaker 4: you do that?
- 22:11Speaker 3: I'll tell you about to me and her name to
- 22:12Speaker 3: talk because I'm trying to do some stuff in Canda
- 22:15Speaker 3: and they have like six arms and four fingers and
- 22:19Speaker 3: I'm like, what I'm at.
- 22:20Speaker 4: You know, listen, I'll give her her flowers, and she's
- 22:24Speaker 4: taught me some things, my little minimeme.
- 22:28Speaker 1: M hm.
- 22:29Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 22:32Speaker 6: I don't want to leave out she is. She is
- 22:35Speaker 6: an artist.
- 22:36Speaker 4: She's a professional artist, so she she does help sometimes too.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Wow, that is awesome.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Well, hello, can you tell us her name or would
- 22:48Speaker 3: you like to tell us her name?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Oh?
- 22:49Speaker 6: Yeah, her name is Jocelyn her artist name.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I feel bad because well, I'm trying to think how
- 22:59Speaker 4: to spell it, because it's Nixus Paints and she has
- 23:02Speaker 4: her own story behind her her artist name. But I
- 23:05Speaker 4: believe Nixus is nix ss. I'm pretty sure n I
- 23:10Speaker 4: x S S. And so she really does some really raw,
- 23:14Speaker 4: authentic work.
- 23:14Speaker 6: She's extremely talented.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Well kudos to you, baby. We see that the talent
- 23:21Speaker 3: runs through the family and continue to make it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Do with it, do you, baby girl?
- 23:26Speaker 6: Absolutely?
- 23:28Speaker 3: So we talked backstage before we came on, and I
- 23:32Speaker 3: told you that we have a section of this show
- 23:36Speaker 3: that it's called the Fun Questions. Okay, so let me
- 23:41Speaker 3: let me take the glasses off, let me get you ready,
- 23:43Speaker 3: Get you ready to you told me you were ready.
- 23:46Speaker 6: For this, dang stay ready. Never have to get ready?
- 23:49Speaker 3: Right there you go, boom. So Lifetime saw your book cover.
- 23:56Speaker 3: We're gonna bring back up the book cover again. You guys,
- 23:59Speaker 3: They said, you know what, we read this book. We
- 24:02Speaker 3: are Lifetime Movie Network. The killer Man take him back
- 24:08Speaker 3: Movie Network, because y'all know that's what Lifetime do. Somebody
- 24:12Speaker 3: kills him, he comes back to life, and then they
- 24:14Speaker 3: fall in love. So they decided that they love your
- 24:16Speaker 3: book that we are going to make it into a movie.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Your female lead has to be a singer. Who would
- 24:31Speaker 2: it be and why did you chose that?
- 24:35Speaker 6: Okay, I would have to say Kelly Rowland.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Because I haven't heard that one in a wild well,
- 24:46Speaker 2: and she is.
- 24:47Speaker 6: A singer, we all know that.
- 24:48Speaker 4: But she has that soft grown woman bab she has
- 24:53Speaker 4: that quiet strand that fits near you know, the main
- 24:56Speaker 4: female character, and so I feel like she would good
- 25:00Speaker 4: at playing that mother, that that woman who's been emotionally neglected,
- 25:04Speaker 4: especially after the last.
- 25:05Speaker 6: One she did. It was it was, it was, it
- 25:07Speaker 6: was cool.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I mean I liked it, but it was mixed reviews
- 25:10Speaker 4: about it. But I would say, Kelly Roland, Okay.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Did you see the movie? Are you speaking about the
- 25:16Speaker 3: one that she did with Method Man?
- 25:21Speaker 4: And because I brought it up on trying to think
- 25:23Speaker 4: the name. It was a Tyler Perry one that she did.
- 25:30Speaker 6: She was a lawyer. She was representing the guy who
- 25:34Speaker 6: was on who.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Was trying to be I think it was murder charges
- 25:38Speaker 4: and she he was a painter, okay, and he was rich,
- 25:44Speaker 4: he had a lot of.
- 25:44Speaker 6: Money, and she failed for him easily in fact.
- 25:48Speaker 4: But you know, a lot of people said a lot
- 25:50Speaker 4: of things about it, but I thought it was it
- 25:52Speaker 4: was okay.
- 25:55Speaker 6: I wish I could you gonna make me look it up.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Now, Carol, I'm already beating to it.
- 26:02Speaker 6: Google her and that hit look because it's gonna bother me.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Is this meta Cooper?
- 26:11Speaker 6: Yeah, that's it. That's it. Watch it. You haven't watched it,
- 26:14Speaker 6: watched it? Watch it?
- 26:18Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry, y'all, y'all know me. I'm gonna stop
- 26:22Speaker 3: whatever I'm doing. I got too streams. I had to
- 26:25Speaker 3: stop looking, and I'm gonna put that on the Bachless.
- 26:29Speaker 3: So I got some days coming off. So I'm gonna
- 26:31Speaker 3: enjoy it. What you think when you watch it, and
- 26:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna hit you back and let you know that.
- 26:40Speaker 3: So we got Kelly Broler, but now we have to
- 26:43Speaker 3: cast your male offer. I mean your male character, but
- 26:50Speaker 3: he has to be an actor.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Who would he be? And why?
- 26:56Speaker 4: All right, I'm gonna do this in two parts, because
- 27:00Speaker 4: we have the guy that she's with who fumbled, and
- 27:04Speaker 4: the guy who she found in love with. So let
- 27:11Speaker 4: me let me say this, right, I would say the
- 27:14Speaker 4: guy she fell in love with later her second chance
- 27:17Speaker 4: would have to be Michael Eatly just period.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 27:28Speaker 6: Because he's that type of man.
- 27:30Speaker 4: He's the type of actor everything we've watched the man well,
- 27:33Speaker 4: I'm not gonna say everything, but he has that look
- 27:36Speaker 4: of a man who we believe is perfect from the outside, handsome,
- 27:40Speaker 4: charm man. He knows how to play the good man
- 27:42Speaker 4: in public.
- 27:43Speaker 6: That's him.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he actually you can play. I'm being honest, but
- 27:50Speaker 4: I would I would have to say him, And I
- 27:51Speaker 4: would say for the one who fumbled, I would actually
- 27:54Speaker 4: say Lance Gross let me switch no, no, no hold on,
- 27:59Speaker 4: let me switch the around, let's go backwards. I would
- 28:02Speaker 4: say Michael Elie for the one who fumbled.
- 28:04Speaker 6: And I'm gonna say that because.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Now I'm thinking about being Mary Jane, where he did
- 28:12Speaker 4: appear to have it all together, and he was that
- 28:14Speaker 4: one who was charming and all these things, but then
- 28:18Speaker 4: he did kind of fumble if you think back on
- 28:20Speaker 4: that whole series, which was everything by the way.
- 28:22Speaker 6: So I would say him for.
- 28:26Speaker 4: The one who fumbled, and maybe Lance Cross for the
- 28:30Speaker 4: one she found in love with, because he has that
- 28:32Speaker 4: romantic lead energy, definitely that steady, patient, confident, consistent.
- 28:40Speaker 6: So yeah, that's.
- 28:43Speaker 3: True, because I really I don't know if you guys know,
- 28:47Speaker 3: but there is this I don't know what they call it.
- 28:51Speaker 3: It's Tonight's Conversations and he's now one of the guys
- 28:57Speaker 3: on the panel and they're supposed to be coming to
- 28:59Speaker 3: Charles and I would love to see him, but I
- 29:04Speaker 3: saw those ticket crisis and on the heads.
- 29:08Speaker 2: But you're totally right.
- 29:10Speaker 3: He seems like the type of man that I don't
- 29:14Speaker 3: want to say it like this, but I am gonna
- 29:16Speaker 3: say it like that.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Like this, He's the type of man that will help
- 29:21Speaker 2: you pick up the pieces, give it.
- 29:25Speaker 3: To you, watch you put it together, and he will
- 29:29Speaker 3: carry it carefully to the finish line. He's just that
- 29:35Speaker 3: type of man that I see. Okay, so one more thing.
- 29:41Speaker 3: You know, all movies all TV shows have to have
- 29:50Speaker 3: a theme song.
- 29:52Speaker 2: What would your theme song be?
- 29:55Speaker 4: For sense you follow it, I would have to say,
- 30:01Speaker 4: Mary J. Blige, not gonna cry.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Ooh period.
- 30:07Speaker 4: I feel like that fits it just perfect, because what
- 30:11Speaker 4: does she say in the beginning, while all the time
- 30:13Speaker 4: I was loving you, You're busy loving yourself. She's talking
- 30:18Speaker 4: about the years that she put in the kids, all
- 30:20Speaker 4: these things that that fits this book.
- 30:23Speaker 6: But she's like, I'm not gonna cry.
- 30:27Speaker 3: You did that because that song right there. I know
- 30:30Speaker 3: this is gonna sound real cool when I say this,
- 30:34Speaker 3: but I can't wait until my daughter gets her first
- 30:36Speaker 3: break up, so me and her could be having a
- 30:39Speaker 3: hair brush around here sing.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I know. I know it sounds cruel, but I get.
- 30:44Speaker 6: It though as a mother of three, I get it.
- 30:47Speaker 6: I trust me too.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Cruel.
- 30:56Speaker 3: You're gonna tell me, You're gonna have to tell me
- 30:58Speaker 3: how you did it, because, oh.
- 31:01Speaker 6: Girl, prayer you hear me. They're now twenty two and
- 31:07Speaker 6: twenty four, and my son is twenty. So yeah, and
- 31:14Speaker 6: maybe you know, you.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Know how girls are with emotional They think they know
- 31:17Speaker 4: what love is and they think they found love.
- 31:19Speaker 6: And I went through that already.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Listen, if you can only understand the fifth grade trauma,
- 31:27Speaker 3: then my daughter used to come home, and I used
- 31:29Speaker 3: to come home from work. This girl used to be
- 31:31Speaker 3: at my door. Some mommy, let me tell you what
- 31:36Speaker 3: happened to day school? When I'm thinking to myself only
- 31:38Speaker 3: in fifth grade? When are you talking about? So see
- 31:43Speaker 3: what I take you to it.
- 31:44Speaker 6: That's a book.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Chronicles. I can see it right now.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Oh my god. Nobody told me. And I'm the only
- 31:56Speaker 3: one with the daughter. So yeah, I might have to
- 32:03Speaker 3: call you sometimes. Please accept my call.
- 32:08Speaker 6: I got you, I got you.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Be.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Ready. Mm hmmm.
- 32:18Speaker 3: I'm literally I'm scared. I told my son, I have
- 32:22Speaker 3: a twenty four year old son.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I tell her if she can before you, brother, you
- 32:30Speaker 2: wouldn't do it.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I got conversations brave mammy.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Oh lord, and I think back to my mom, and
- 32:47Speaker 3: my mom had all girls.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 32:51Speaker 6: When you had the first boy, you broke the chain.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I broke the chain and it was a beautiful before
- 32:58Speaker 3: we had our little you know, oh you know, but
- 33:02Speaker 3: it was such an easy child.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Oh.
- 33:12Speaker 3: She's smart, she's beautiful, she's intelligent. She's opinion need, she's
- 33:18Speaker 3: opinion needed, she's opiniony.
- 33:22Speaker 6: You know what they tell us when we were younger.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Her Mama's always saying or our grandmothers that it is
- 33:27Speaker 6: one or the two, and your child's gonna do to
- 33:30Speaker 6: you what you did to me, And honey, let me
- 33:32Speaker 6: tell you ten times over. They were not lying.
- 33:39Speaker 4: Sometimes sometimes I'm talking to myself and Mary and I
- 33:42Speaker 4: realize it and I have those moments where I'm like, man,
- 33:46Speaker 4: I was some kind of crazy, wasn't I?
- 33:50Speaker 2: I am scared. I've heard people say that.
- 33:56Speaker 6: Yeah it's true. So you gotta ask yourself, how would you?
- 33:59Speaker 6: How would you talk to you? How would you deal
- 34:02Speaker 6: with you? Would you have listened to that?
- 34:10Speaker 2: Okay? Yeah, who, I'm gonna have to camp outside the school.
- 34:16Speaker 4: But who?
- 34:21Speaker 2: I wasn't a bad child. I just never showed up
- 34:24Speaker 2: a class. Who that's a who.
- 34:29Speaker 3: That's a whole doesn't show y'all Lawn and Mike garantt
- 34:33Speaker 3: cab me and alumni who woo, y'all know what's up?
- 34:37Speaker 6: Girls?
- 34:37Speaker 4: They mouthy, they mouthy, their hormonal, all those things.
- 34:41Speaker 6: It's just that comes with it. Okay.
- 34:49Speaker 3: So we got Jesus, you got Kelly Rowling, we got Lance,
- 34:55Speaker 3: we got oh my god, Michael, Michael Ealy and.
- 34:59Speaker 2: We all not gonna cry.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yes, that's a whole lot of drama in a book,
- 35:05Speaker 3: So that mean that book about to be good.
- 35:07Speaker 2: So ooh, y'all you know what to do. Go ahead
- 35:10Speaker 2: and get your copies, head over to your website.
- 35:14Speaker 3: All our information is scrolling at the bottom and has
- 35:17Speaker 3: been scrolling since the beginning of the show. And she's
- 35:21Speaker 3: also an in zome, so I'm gonna put that up
- 35:24Speaker 3: to you. Guys can nowhere to go. But before we
- 35:29Speaker 3: let you go, we always do this thing called the rundown?
- 35:32Speaker 3: Can you give us information on where we can follow
- 35:36Speaker 3: you on social media where your books can be purchased.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Even though it's at the bottom of the screen, we
- 35:42Speaker 3: still like to hear from the author, So go ahead
- 35:44Speaker 3: and give us the rundown.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah, you're so.
- 35:48Speaker 4: I am, author Elena Smith on Facebook Follow me because
- 35:54Speaker 4: I do have another group I just made where I
- 35:58Speaker 4: would do exclusive content where if I'm, you know, halfway
- 36:03Speaker 4: through a story or done with the story, I may
- 36:05Speaker 4: put you know, a chapter up there and just kind
- 36:08Speaker 4: of give you some some tidbits on you know, the
- 36:11Speaker 4: journey that everybody else, you know, don't have.
- 36:13Speaker 6: The exclusive access to.
- 36:16Speaker 4: So yeah, definitely, Author Elena Smith on Facebook. And that
- 36:19Speaker 4: is a l I N A s M I T.
- 36:25Speaker 4: I would say, I have links all on my page,
- 36:27Speaker 4: but you can go to Amazon. Now there's an Amazon
- 36:31Speaker 4: link that I can't tell you, my heart, I'm gonna
- 36:33Speaker 4: be honest.
- 36:33Speaker 6: That's why I gave it to you. But if you
- 36:36Speaker 6: look me up.
- 36:38Speaker 4: I am not the only Elena Smith on Amazon, So
- 36:41Speaker 4: do use her link for that one.
- 36:43Speaker 6: Okay.
- 36:44Speaker 4: That's why that's so hard to tell you, because I'm
- 36:47Speaker 4: not the only one. And in fact, when I did
- 36:49Speaker 4: my good Reads, they mixed me up with a girl
- 36:51Speaker 4: who did a bunch of cooking books. I said, that's
- 36:53Speaker 4: not me. It was a whole thing. Our books were
- 36:59Speaker 4: getting so jumbled up. But they finally fixed it after
- 37:03Speaker 4: two weeks of back and forth emails.
- 37:05Speaker 6: Yeah, so definitely, Now.
- 37:13Speaker 2: No worry you guys. What we're gonna do is I
- 37:16Speaker 2: have her links.
- 37:17Speaker 3: You know, our blog, interviews, our podcast go on our blogs.
- 37:21Speaker 3: So once you get to the blog that has her name,
- 37:27Speaker 3: all of the links will be clickable, so they will
- 37:29Speaker 3: send you directly to whatever side it is. So if
- 37:33Speaker 3: it's Amazon, it's Amazon to her website, to her website.
- 37:37Speaker 3: So I'll make sure that the connections are made for
- 37:40Speaker 3: you guys.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And every platform that you look me up when you
- 37:44Speaker 4: will see my face, so you will know that it
- 37:47Speaker 4: is me.
- 37:49Speaker 6: There's only one me, baby.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Awesome, But I forgot to ask you one question, and
- 37:58Speaker 3: this would be a great way to end the show.

- 38:27Speaker 4: review truly does matter for every author. We all greatly
- 38:31Speaker 4: appreciate that recommendations mean everything and for anybody that reads.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Since you fumbled, I hope you walk away remembering that
- 38:41Speaker 4: choosing yourself is not selfish, and sometimes love does not
- 38:45Speaker 4: fall apart overnight. Sometimes you slowly realize that you've been
- 38:49Speaker 4: shrinking and stuff to fit inside something that no longer
- 38:52Speaker 4: makes room for you.
- 38:53Speaker 6: And that's pretty much what this book is about. So yeah, Well,
- 39:00Speaker 6: it has been a pleasure of having you with us tonight.
- 39:04Speaker 3: You guys, y'all know what I say. Check the podcast

- 39:22Speaker 3: I was on the page and I was looking at
- 39:25Speaker 3: some other books. It was another book. It was ooh,
- 39:28Speaker 3: I can't find it now. Oh I am mad. But
- 39:31Speaker 3: she had another one on me that I wanted to read.
