Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hands to Hester and Hester. Yep, got it. Five out
- 0:06Speaker 2: of five. From carrying each other to a natty to
- 0:09Speaker 2: carrying each other on the air.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone foul.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio. It's Off the Bench.
- 0:23Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 0:24Speaker 1: OTB here live from U Club, the LSU Alumni Association
- 0:29Speaker 1: Golf Tournament. The cart's just left. They are about to
- 0:33Speaker 1: go hit the course. Our guy Justin Vincent feeling real confident.
- 0:38Speaker 1: He had a confident look that he's about to go
- 0:40Speaker 1: out there and shoot a really good score.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh, he did. He's about to go sub 50, I think.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Even if he doesn't shoot a score, it's what you
- 0:46Speaker 1: write down on the card. You know what I'm saying? Exactly.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We got the superior margaritas out here. People, you know.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's a golf course. It's on airport time when you
- 0:56Speaker 2: come doing a golf tournament, especially an alumni golf tournament.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We've got a lot of different sponsors. The Powerade tent
- 1:02Speaker 2: over there. I saw a lot of people walking around
- 1:04Speaker 2: just flashing their MyHighs at me.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Whoopsies. I would like to give you a hard time
- 1:12Speaker 1: like I often do, but he's actually telling the truth.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's true. It's going to be a hot one today.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It is going to be a steamer. And sometimes, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 1: sometimes you've got to bring in the big guns.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Certain drinks that aren't even going to touch the seat.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Sometimes you've got to bring in the my high. You
- 1:27Speaker 1: know where you can find my high?
- 1:30Speaker 2: I think at Rouse's, right? You can.
- 1:32Speaker 1: You can find it at Rouse's. They just restocked as well,
- 1:34Speaker 1: so you can go pick that up today. You can
- 1:36Speaker 1: come see us every single football Friday during the football season,
- 1:40Speaker 1: even on away games. We will be there. So we'll
- 1:43Speaker 1: be there on Friday, Burbank and Lee. We always enjoy.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Come hang out with us. Come listen to the show
- 1:48Speaker 1: each and every week. We appreciate you. Appreciate the Hester
- 1:52Speaker 1: Flynn couple. that had the jerseys on. They came. They
- 1:56Speaker 1: hung out with us.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Power couple.
- 1:58Speaker 1: No doubt about it. They hung out with us on Friday.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We had a chance to autograph their jerseys and decrease
- 2:03Speaker 1: the value of the jersey, and we appreciate them allowing
- 2:05Speaker 1: us to do that.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Absolutely. I would say royalty here, that couple is. Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 2: In the capital city.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Certainly here on this show.
- 2:13Speaker 2: They said they've been wearing those jerseys for a while.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Like four years or so?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Pretty old jerseys. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:21Speaker 1: No, no, no. About four years or so. And they
- 2:25Speaker 1: said they do get kind of stopped often. Maybe, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 1: talk about the jerseys and like ask questions. I mean,
- 2:31Speaker 1: why they're so awesome.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And they're the white jerseys. They're not the purple
- 2:35Speaker 2: jerseys for a reason. Because purple jersey games stink.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I wonder if, like, Ole Miss would try to pull
- 2:41Speaker 1: something like, hey, we're going to wear white.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That would be a baller move, actually.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I think it would be a pretty big mistake by them.
- 2:47Speaker 2: That would actually be a good troll job by them.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It would.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But it also, like, another reason to get. But also,
- 2:55Speaker 1: if you're not ready for this one, then, like, if
- 2:57Speaker 1: you can't get fired up for this game, then your
- 2:59Speaker 1: wood's wet.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Right?
- 3:01Speaker 1: We can all agree there?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Okay. Yep, yep, yep.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And the matchup that we're talking about, of course, is
- 3:06Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss, both these teams 2-0. As you
- 3:09Speaker 1: look at the stats of the matchup, points scored so far,
- 3:12Speaker 1: LSU 96, Ole Miss 82. So points per game, 48
- 3:17Speaker 1: for the Tigers, 41 for the Black Bears. Points allowed,
- 3:21Speaker 1: 24 for LSU to 47 by Ole Miss. Points allowed
- 3:25Speaker 1: per game, of course, two games, 12 for LSU, 23.5
- 3:29Speaker 1: for Ole Miss. Quarterback passing yards, Sam Leavitt, 559, Trinidad Chambliss, 561.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So right there on par with each other. Now, Chambliss
- 3:37Speaker 1: has had five touchdowns to one interception. Obviously, Sam Leavitt
- 3:40Speaker 1: had the three interceptions last game. He had the interception
- 3:43Speaker 1: against Clemson. So he does have four already on the year.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And so something they want to cut down on to
- 3:50Speaker 1: say the least. And again, when we watch film more tomorrow,
- 3:53Speaker 1: not only on the show, but our new YouTube page,
- 3:56Speaker 1: Eye in the Sky. You can go check that out.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You can watch our breakdown of the Clemson game. You
- 4:00Speaker 1: can subscribe because we're going to do a breakdown of
- 4:02Speaker 1: Louisiana Tech. We'll probably do like a small break down
- 4:06Speaker 1: throughout the week on a couple of different things as
- 4:08Speaker 1: well and post those on the channel. But can't wait
- 4:12Speaker 1: to get into the film room and dive into, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 1: what we saw a week ago. But also, like, I
- 4:16Speaker 1: do want to try to take a look at some
- 4:18Speaker 1: of the things that Ole Miss has done. And, you know,
- 4:21Speaker 1: Ole Miss does well and what we can expect to
- 4:23Speaker 1: see because, hey, they're going to make some plays. It's
- 4:26Speaker 1: a good football team. They're going to make some plays
- 4:27Speaker 1: on offense. They're going to make some plays on defense. Now,
- 4:30Speaker 1: your defense hasn't given up any plays on offense. The
- 4:32Speaker 1: first team unit, like, think about it. They haven't given up.
- 4:35Speaker 1: anything like they've given up a field goal and the
- 4:39Speaker 1: field goal they gave up the team didn't gain like
- 4:42Speaker 1: gain any yards the offense threw an interception and the
- 4:46Speaker 1: lsu defense stopped it right there and then they kicked
- 4:49Speaker 1: the field goal that's all the first team has given
- 4:51Speaker 1: up i mean when you break down what they've done
- 4:55Speaker 1: as far as like third down conversions a true third
- 4:58Speaker 1: down conversions it's remarkable and i don't care who you've
- 5:00Speaker 1: played But you've played teams in Clemson and Louisiana Tech.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's not like you've played directional school youth from the
- 5:08Speaker 1: FCS two times in a row. And it also looks
- 5:11Speaker 1: like the defensive portion for LSU, it looks like to
- 5:15Speaker 1: me it wouldn't really matter who you played because of
- 5:18Speaker 1: the rush, because of the attention to detail.
- 5:21Speaker 2: There's not a lot of free runners.
- 5:22Speaker 1: In fact, we broke down the wheel that the Clemson
- 5:25Speaker 1: running back ran, and you had a missed coverage. And
- 5:28Speaker 1: it was like the only missed coverage, so we kind
- 5:29Speaker 1: of highlighted it. you don't have a lot of miscommunication
- 5:33Speaker 1: as well.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, when you're doing a film breakdown, you can't just
- 5:36Speaker 2: be positive, positive, positive. You've got to show something. And
- 5:39Speaker 2: there certainly this week is going to be a lot
- 5:42Speaker 2: to show from LSU on improvements. As I told you,
- 5:46Speaker 2: there's a lot of teaching tape. But there's not a
- 5:47Speaker 2: whole lot on the defense. A defense is playing the
- 5:51Speaker 2: way you want your defense. Like if you were drawing
- 5:54Speaker 2: up the way you want a defense to play, You
- 5:57Speaker 2: would pick this game film from these last two games
- 6:00Speaker 2: from LSU because they're flying around. They're playing extremely disciplined,
- 6:03Speaker 2: which at the college level is hard to do early
- 6:06Speaker 2: in the year, especially with all the changes, all the
- 6:09Speaker 2: new people. Man, they have figured out a way to
- 6:12Speaker 2: be bought in, and it just really goes. Their preparation
- 6:16Speaker 2: in the offseason, their preparation in the summer, their preparation
- 6:19Speaker 2: in training camp is really showing itself right now. This
- 6:22Speaker 2: week is finally going to be a test for that
- 6:25Speaker 2: defense that we are going to see exactly how good
- 6:27Speaker 2: they are. Has it been fool's gold? I've watched the film.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I can tell you it's not fool's gold. Now, can
- 6:32Speaker 2: we expect them to not give up any yards in
- 6:34Speaker 2: the first half versus Ole Miss? No, you can't expect that.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Can you expect for them to pitch a shutout? No,
- 6:39Speaker 2: you can't expect that. But we are finally getting to
- 6:42Speaker 2: SEC play. We're going to see. Look, the teams you've
- 6:44Speaker 2: played have not been that good. I know Louisiana Tech
- 6:46Speaker 2: scored 80 the week before, but their quarterback wasn't very good.
- 6:51Speaker 2: He wasn't fast enough, didn't have a quick enough release.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Their offense just wasn't built to take on a defense
- 6:58Speaker 2: like LSU. Clemson, they're not very good. They scored 22
- 7:01Speaker 2: points versus Georgia Southern this past weekend. So the offenses
- 7:06Speaker 2: you have faced have not been good, but you've done
- 7:08Speaker 2: exactly what you're supposed to do as a feared and
- 7:12Speaker 2: great defense when you play bad teams. And when you
- 7:15Speaker 2: play offenses that aren't very good, I'm sorry, Dabo, your
- 7:19Speaker 2: time is up. It's time for you all to mutually
- 7:22Speaker 2: part ways. And that's things because that's an end of
- 7:25Speaker 2: an era of football, right? And whatever you think about Dabo,
- 7:28Speaker 2: it's still sad to see an end of an era.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But we're going to get a real test this weekend.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I'm excited to see it. I will bet on LSU's
- 7:37Speaker 2: defense from what I've seen going against that Ole Miss offense,
- 7:40Speaker 2: an Ole Miss offense that, of course, has one of
- 7:42Speaker 2: the best quarterbacks in the country. I'm assuming Lacey's going
- 7:46Speaker 2: to be back at least for a little bit. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 2: He's supposed to be back. So, you know, what percentage
- 7:53Speaker 2: is he? Is he playing at 85, 90, 95, 100%,
- 7:56Speaker 2: whatever it is? We'll see. It remains to be seen. But,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you know, I'll take that LSU defense with the guys
- 8:02Speaker 2: flying around, with that linebacker, Tannen, with Prince Willem-Amon Miellen
- 8:06Speaker 2: at the edge rushing the secondary that has not been
- 8:09Speaker 2: tested at all. They haven't been tested. No, that's true.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Think about how many passes down the field there have
- 8:16Speaker 2: been in one-on-one coverage because we're putting so much pressure
- 8:21Speaker 2: on the quarterback. They just haven't had the time to
- 8:23Speaker 2: really test people down the field. So you're going to
- 8:26Speaker 2: get tested. Your linebackers and your safeties are going to
- 8:28Speaker 2: get tested this week when Trinidad Chambliss moves the pocket,
- 8:32Speaker 2: when he scrambles, when he shows why he's one of
- 8:35Speaker 2: the best and using his legs as well and smartly
- 8:39Speaker 2: using his legs. He's not trying to run every time.
- 8:41Speaker 2: But it's going to have to be a great linebacker game.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And I said this last year before we went into
- 8:45Speaker 2: the Ole Miss game. Like, we're going to have to
- 8:46Speaker 2: have great safety play. And you're going to have to
- 8:49Speaker 2: see it. So, I think this is the week where everyone.
- 8:51Speaker 1: LSU defensively last year, it wasn't bad.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they did pretty well.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I mean, they didn't have any help. They were on
- 8:57Speaker 1: the field. It felt like the entire game.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I think both coming out of the game this last
- 9:02Speaker 2: two weeks, it's been, for me, it's been TJ daughter,
- 9:04Speaker 2: TJ daughter, TJ daughter. And I think he's going to
- 9:06Speaker 2: continue to show that, but this might be, this has
- 9:08Speaker 2: a potential to be that game where it's like type
- 9:10Speaker 2: in a field type in a field type in a
- 9:11Speaker 2: field type deal. Um, so this is a, this is
- 9:14Speaker 2: a safety game. So I'm excited to see it. Offense
- 9:17Speaker 2: has to improve. Yeah. Sam Levitt's got to get better.
- 9:21Speaker 2: He does. Yes. Athletically. He's awesome. Um, What I saw
- 9:25Speaker 2: from the game this past weekend, he's playing too fast.
- 9:28Speaker 2: He's playing too rushed. I had notes written down when
- 9:31Speaker 2: I was watching the film last night. It just said, Sam, dot, dot, dot,
- 9:34Speaker 2: in capital letters, slow down. Slow down your footwork. Slow
- 9:39Speaker 2: down your read.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He was jittery. I don't know if it's too amped up.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I mean, he's played too much football to be nervous.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't know if it's nervous. I think
- 9:48Speaker 2: it's just excited. You see, like, just too much energy.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I don't know. He's got to slow down. He's got
- 9:52Speaker 2: to take a deep breath. He's got to slow his
- 9:54Speaker 2: mind down. He's got to slow his feet down a
- 9:56Speaker 2: little bit. I'm not talking about when he runs. Of
- 9:58Speaker 2: course we want him to run fast. when he's scrambling.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm talking about his dropbacks. We'll highlight this when we
- 10:04Speaker 2: get into the studio with some film. He's got these reads,
- 10:07Speaker 2: these progression type reads where it's versus this coverage you're
- 10:11Speaker 2: going here and there's a clear one, one A, then
- 10:13Speaker 2: there's a number two read, number three, number four read.
- 10:15Speaker 2: All that stuff, all these reads are designed with the
- 10:18Speaker 2: depths to time up with your footwork. And he's just
- 10:21Speaker 2: sometimes a little bit quick with his footwork, getting off
- 10:23Speaker 2: reads too fast, his footwork not timing up with the routes. Right.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And I think that's a lot of the issues in
- 10:29Speaker 2: the passing game. He's going to be fine. He's going
- 10:32Speaker 2: to be okay. He can throw it accurate enough. His
- 10:35Speaker 2: footwork has to improve, and that's coaching. You've got to
- 10:37Speaker 2: work on his footwork, and he's just got to slow
- 10:40Speaker 2: down a little bit.
- 10:42Speaker 1: To take a look at what Ole Miss did against
- 10:44Speaker 1: Charlotte real quick– Keewon Lacey did end up kind of
- 10:49Speaker 1: going back to form. He had 13 carries for 87 yards, 6.7
- 10:53Speaker 1: yards per carry, and two touchdowns. Had a long of 28.
- 10:57Speaker 1: So he does look like he is going to be
- 10:59Speaker 1: more than ready to go. Now a light load, 13 carries.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But again, you were playing Charlotte. You were up 27
- 11:04Speaker 1: to nothing, I believe, at halftime. Trinidad-Chambers only ran three
- 11:08Speaker 1: times in this game, three times for two yards.
- 11:11Speaker 2: So....
- 11:13Speaker 1: They were smart in their usage for sure. Deuce Alexander,
- 11:15Speaker 1: yet again, was their leading receiver. He had eight for 76.
- 11:19Speaker 1: He is going to be the guy that you're talking
- 11:21Speaker 1: about testing the LSU defensive backs. Trinidad Chambliss throwing the
- 11:24Speaker 1: football was 23 of 26. 225 yards, 8.7 yards per attempt,
- 11:29Speaker 1: two touchdowns, no interceptions. And so, look, they had a
- 11:32Speaker 1: good day against the Charlotte team, and Charlotte lost to
- 11:34Speaker 1: the Citadel in week number one. We weren't expecting Charlotte
- 11:37Speaker 1: to put up any kind of fight, but Ole Miss
- 11:39Speaker 1: continues to roll offensively, and It's going to be a
- 11:43Speaker 1: matchup of, you know, I think a really good receiver
- 11:46Speaker 1: in Deuce Alexander going against two really good corners, like
- 11:49Speaker 1: who's going to win that one. And then it's going
- 11:51Speaker 1: to be Keewon Lacey against his former teammate T.J. Dottery
- 11:55Speaker 1: and Wood Weeks there in the middle of the defense.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It's going to be your edge rushers being able to
- 12:00Speaker 1: rush and rush in a smart way as well, not
- 12:03Speaker 1: running past the quarterback. But LSU's had two sacks in
- 12:07Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks where they've done a really
- 12:09Speaker 1: nice job of rushing to the point, pushing the tackle
- 12:12Speaker 1: back to the quarterback, and then tracking back when the
- 12:15Speaker 1: quarterback steps up in the pocket, not just.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Running to run.
- 12:18Speaker 1: And they've gotten sacks twice off of that. That's good discipline.
- 12:21Speaker 1: They're going to need that kind of discipline here against
- 12:23Speaker 1: Ole Miss.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be a great matchup, one that's
- 12:26Speaker 2: going to be good enough that college game day decided
- 12:28Speaker 2: to go there. Of course, that has a lot to
- 12:29Speaker 2: do with what's going to happen. A lot of the
- 12:32Speaker 2: off-the-field stuff and the drama, Ole Miss and LSU in
- 12:36Speaker 2: the offseason, it became kind of this joke, right? We're
- 12:38Speaker 2: just like switching. We're just swapping people. It's like wife
- 12:41Speaker 2: swap here. We're swapping coaches, players, support staff, everything. But
- 12:48Speaker 2: it finally comes ahead this weekend. Your number seven LSU
- 12:54Speaker 2: Tigers take on number eight Ole Miss. All right. Landsharks.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Black Bears.
- 13:01Speaker 1: When we come back, we'll start to look at maybe
- 13:03Speaker 1: some of the matches. If you step on that cord.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Get your wire out of my way.
- 13:07Speaker 1: One more time with that fat ankle of yours.
- 13:10Speaker 2: That was my foot, actually.
- 13:12Speaker 1: One more time.
- 13:12Speaker 2: It's connected to that.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Every time he does, it's just like my neck's just like.
- 13:17Speaker 1: My neck only has like three of those left.
- 13:18Speaker 2: It has to go wireless. My God.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I forgot what I was teasing. It was something. It
- 13:23Speaker 1: was something very important.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Something really good.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Oh, I know what it is. Styles make fights, right?
- 13:28Speaker 1: I want to ask you which style you think both
- 13:31Speaker 1: teams are going to play offensively when we come.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Back here on OTB.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Off the bench. All right, go to centralplumbing.org, centralplumbing.org. Of course,
- 13:42Speaker 1: in the greater Baton Rouge area, they've been in the
- 13:43Speaker 1: game for over 50 years there, but now in Lafayette
- 13:47Speaker 1: as well.
- 13:47Speaker 2: They are expanding.
- 13:48Speaker 1: They are growing in 24-7, 365 weekend, holiday, game day,
- 13:53Speaker 1: emergency service. Yes, even during the Ole Miss game. If
- 13:57Speaker 1: something happens... You're like, there's no way anybody's coming out now.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Everybody's watching the game. Well, nope, they'll be there. They'll
- 14:02Speaker 1: be there to fix your issue. It's not only in emergencies, though.
- 14:06Speaker 1: If you're looking to upgrade at your home, at your business,
- 14:09Speaker 1: they can come in, and they can certainly do that
- 14:10Speaker 1: as well. If you're looking to go tankless with a
- 14:12Speaker 1: tankless water heater, never run out of hot water again,
- 14:15Speaker 1: they can install that. Go to centralplumbing.org.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Central Plumbing, centralplumbing.org. Your plumbing experts, like Jake said, in
- 14:21Speaker 2: the Greater Baton Rouge area and in Lafayette as well.
- 14:23Speaker 2: They've been doing it a long time. Third generation company,
- 14:25Speaker 2: the Payne family. has been the experts in the game.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And to do business that long, you know you're doing
- 14:29Speaker 2: business the right way. You're treating people the right way.
- 14:32Speaker 2: You are a master at your craft. So residential, commercial,
- 14:35Speaker 2: it doesn't matter. Water lines, gas lines, nothing too big,
- 14:37Speaker 2: nothing too small. Central Plumbing, done.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Off the bench with Hester and Flynn. Presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 14:53Speaker 1: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from U Club,
- 14:57Speaker 1: the LSU Alumni Association Golf Tournament. Jake Flynn, Moose here,
- 15:01Speaker 1: Alondra Tate's back in studio. Before we get to a
- 15:05Speaker 1: little bit more of a breakdown, a little preview of
- 15:07Speaker 1: LSU versus Ole Miss, let's not forget about our friends.
- 15:10Speaker 2: How could we?

- 15:36Speaker 1: and the team. Tommy's Windows, Doors, and Siding. Go, Tommy's.
- 15:38Speaker 2: G-E-A-U-X.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Tommy's with a Y dot com. All right, Matt, as
- 15:42Speaker 1: we continue breaking down LSU and Ole Miss, a little preview,
- 15:46Speaker 1: if you will. I said before the break, styles make fights. Now,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think both these teams can run the football. Both
- 15:53Speaker 1: these teams can throw the football. They've both got mobile quarterbacks.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So I think we kind of know that it doesn't
- 16:00Speaker 1: have to be a one-trick pony. They can win in
- 16:02Speaker 1: multiple different ways. Like LSU in the first game against Clemson,
- 16:05Speaker 1: they run for over 300 yards, right? This last time
- 16:08Speaker 1: against Louisiana Tech, they throw for over 300 yards. We
- 16:11Speaker 1: can say the same thing about Ole Miss and what
- 16:13Speaker 1: they want to get done. What do you expect? Do
- 16:15Speaker 1: you expect it to be a game in which it's
- 16:18Speaker 1: going to be done on the ground? Do you expect
- 16:20Speaker 1: it to be done through the quarterbacks? Those two players,
- 16:22Speaker 1: they lean on them so much that they're going to
- 16:24Speaker 1: put it in their hands to either be a runner,
- 16:26Speaker 1: be a thrower.
- 16:27Speaker 2: How do you see it playing out? Yeah, I think
- 16:29Speaker 2: that both teams are going to try to lean heavily
- 16:30Speaker 2: on the running game early. And whether that's quarterback runs
- 16:34Speaker 2: or just your traditional runs, I think both teams are
- 16:37Speaker 2: going to try to establish that early and often. um
- 16:42Speaker 2: i think stylistically it's going to be very two similar
- 16:44Speaker 2: teams from a talent standpoint and you know types of
- 16:50Speaker 2: quarterbacks certainly similar both recruited by lane kiffin for a
- 16:54Speaker 2: reason right because they recruited to because that is their
- 16:57Speaker 2: skill set um i think similar like stylistics is very
- 17:02Speaker 2: going to be very similar when on the offensive side
- 17:05Speaker 2: now defensively I think from what we've seen so far,
- 17:09Speaker 2: I don't think it's any question that LSU has the
- 17:13Speaker 2: more dominant defense from a talent perspective, from a coaching perspective,
- 17:18Speaker 2: from what they'll bring now. I have not yet, you know,
- 17:22Speaker 2: hand in the air, I have not yet broken down
- 17:24Speaker 2: Ole Miss' film. I will do that throughout the week.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to do that this week for sure.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And we're going to show you all a little bit
- 17:28Speaker 2: later on this week on our Eye in the Sky
- 17:32Speaker 2: channel over there on YouTube. We'll have a breakdown of
- 17:34Speaker 2: Ole Miss' defense and offense, some Maybe some tendencies, things
- 17:38Speaker 2: to look for, the good, the bad, the ugly with them.
- 17:40Speaker 2: We'll break that down a little bit later this week.
- 17:43Speaker 2: But I think it makes sense. I think it's going
- 17:45Speaker 2: to be a fantastic matchup because I think at this
- 17:49Speaker 2: point in their careers, I think Trinidad Chambliss probably has
- 17:52Speaker 2: got a leg up on Sam Leavitt in the quarterback position.
- 17:56Speaker 2: But defensively, I think LSU's defense has a leg up
- 18:01Speaker 2: on Ole Miss' defense, certainly. So I think it's going
- 18:03Speaker 2: to be a great matchup stylistically. Very similar to each other. But, man,
- 18:08Speaker 2: I think both teams are going– they have to try
- 18:10Speaker 2: to establish the running game early and often, and I
- 18:12Speaker 2: think that is what Lane Kiffin certainly always wants to
- 18:16Speaker 2: do is try to establish that running game. And, man,
- 18:18Speaker 2: I think the offensive line, the tight ends, I think
- 18:20Speaker 2: they are going to be relieved to not see that
- 18:23Speaker 2: 3-3-5 or 3-4 defense kind of like they did this
- 18:26Speaker 2: past week because we talked about it early in the show.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It just– it creates, if you're not seeing it, something
- 18:31Speaker 2: you don't see all the time or ever really except
- 18:35Speaker 2: for the week leading up to it. it creates a
- 18:38Speaker 2: lot of different challenges from a, um, from a pre-snap
- 18:42Speaker 2: declaration standpoint on who we are. You can't just go
- 18:45Speaker 2: manhandle the guy right in front of you. You have
- 18:47Speaker 2: to make all these different calls. They try to confuse
- 18:49Speaker 2: you on where the double teams are coming from. And
- 18:52Speaker 2: LSU just didn't do a great job of handling that, um,
- 18:55Speaker 2: this past weekend versus Louisiana Tech. So I think they'll
- 18:58Speaker 2: be excited to get back to that, whether it's a
- 18:59Speaker 2: little bit more traditional type of defense that you're going
- 19:02Speaker 2: to see and you're prepared for. Um, so it's, uh,
- 19:05Speaker 2: Excited to see them get back to work because coming
- 19:08Speaker 2: out of week one against Clemson, we didn't see any
- 19:10Speaker 2: weaknesses anywhere, right? So now you saw a little bit
- 19:14Speaker 2: of a chink in the armor this past weekend on
- 19:15Speaker 2: the offensive side. But I don't know, man. It's the
- 19:18Speaker 2: first real test. Clemson, bad. Louisiana Tech, you know, different league.
- 19:24Speaker 2: So I can't wait. It's going to be a showdown.
- 19:28Speaker 1: The one thing that I'm most excited about us being
- 19:31Speaker 1: two offensive guys, it was offensive last year to watch
- 19:34Speaker 1: that offense. And certainly it was in Oxford last year
- 19:37Speaker 1: when LSU went to Oxford, they scored 19 points, only
- 19:39Speaker 1: had 254 yards of total offense and only converted to
- 19:43Speaker 1: third downs all afternoon. And the defense fought their you
- 19:47Speaker 1: know what off all game long. they tried they got
- 19:51Speaker 1: turnovers they tried to give you the ball in great
- 19:53Speaker 1: field position and That was really the only defense to
- 19:59Speaker 1: slow down this Ole Miss offense.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Nobody else really did that to them.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Think about what they did to Georgia in the playoff.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Think about what they did multiple times throughout the season.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And they did a good job. And Lane Kiffin has
- 20:12Speaker 1: talked about that many times. And Blake Baker. And that's
- 20:14Speaker 1: why he was so excited to work with him. Because
- 20:16Speaker 1: of everything that he did that day in Oxford. Now,
- 20:18Speaker 1: Ole Miss still won the game. But Blake and the defense,
- 20:21Speaker 1: they did their part. They had no help. Two conversions.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Two third down conversions from LSU's offense, 254 total yards,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and you still had a chance to win the game.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So when I look at this matchup, like offensively, I
- 20:36Speaker 1: do think that both teams are going to make plays
- 20:38Speaker 1: like you said. I mean, I think the two quarterbacks
- 20:40Speaker 1: are going to have, you know, plays where we ooh
- 20:43Speaker 1: and we ah. But if I'm looking for a difference maker,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I think this LSU defense and where they're at, knowing
- 20:49Speaker 1: they had success against, this team a year ago a
- 20:52Speaker 1: lot of the same players the same scheme for sure
- 20:55Speaker 1: right it's just somebody else different calling the plays and
- 20:57Speaker 1: so i go into this game like thinking about the
- 21:01Speaker 1: performance from the defense last year and how they had
- 21:04Speaker 1: zero help from the offensive side of the football i
- 21:07Speaker 1: just have to believe they're going to have more help
- 21:09Speaker 1: now i want to ask you this question These two
- 21:13Speaker 1: coaching staffs know each other as well as any two
- 21:16Speaker 1: coaching staffs can know each other. Lane knows Pete Golding.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Pete Golding knows Lane. Charlie Weiss Jr. knows Pete Golding.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Pete Golding knows Charlie Weiss Jr. We could go 17
- 21:26Speaker 1: more branches on this tree. Does that favor anybody? Does
- 21:30Speaker 1: it cancel each other out? How do you see that
- 21:34Speaker 1: working to anybody's advantage, or does it not?
- 21:37Speaker 2: I think everything in this matchup, it's intriguing this matchup
- 21:39Speaker 2: because everything kind of cancels each other out. There's nobody
- 21:42Speaker 2: on earth that knows how to stop Lane Kiven's offense
- 21:45Speaker 2: better than Lane, right? And so he's got to understand.
- 21:49Speaker 2: He knows the weaknesses. But on the other hand, there's
- 21:52Speaker 2: probably no one else that would be more equipped than
- 21:54Speaker 2: Pete Golding, who had to go against his offense every
- 21:57Speaker 2: single day. when he was at Ole Miss. I think
- 22:02Speaker 2: they almost kind of cancel each other out a little bit.
- 22:05Speaker 2: It's going to be a little bit of a chess match,
- 22:06Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, it's going to
- 22:07Speaker 2: come down to the 11 guys on the field. It's
- 22:09Speaker 2: going to come down to execution. Like I said, Trinidad
- 22:12Speaker 2: is probably the better quarterback right now for what we've seen.
- 22:17Speaker 2: But LSU's defense is better. So I think that kind
- 22:20Speaker 2: of cancels each other out. And the matchup, they're both
- 22:23Speaker 2: going to know how to stop each other. What's intriguing
- 22:25Speaker 2: is I think Lane's offense and I think the Ole
- 22:26Speaker 2: Miss offense, they love, and it's the It's everywhere in
- 22:30Speaker 2: college football. It's the crossing patterns. It's the safe crossing
- 22:33Speaker 2: patterns that everyone tries to work in, the mesh concepts,
- 22:35Speaker 2: the drive concepts. However, whatever you want to call it
- 22:39Speaker 2: and execute it, but Blake Baker has designed his defense
- 22:43Speaker 2: to stop that. We've seen it with the dropping ends.
- 22:45Speaker 2: They don't just drop to drop. They drop into the
- 22:48Speaker 2: crossing lanes. So they take a lot of the easy
- 22:50Speaker 2: throws away. They take a lot of throws where it
- 22:52Speaker 2: gets pressure. You always saw as a quarterback, you know,
- 22:54Speaker 2: replace the blitz. Replace the blitz with the throw, with
- 22:58Speaker 2: the ball. Well, they take those away so well. And
- 23:00Speaker 2: if you don't replace it with the ball, you've got
- 23:02Speaker 2: to replace it like you're usually running a shallow through that.
- 23:05Speaker 2: And so he's dropping these defensive ends. He's dropping these
- 23:09Speaker 2: linebackers that look like they're pressuring into these crossing lanes.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So Ole Miss has their work cut out for them
- 23:15Speaker 2: from the film study standpoint this week. Yeah. And I think, Lane,
- 23:19Speaker 2: they know what they're going to do. But I do
- 23:20Speaker 2: think it's such an intriguing matchup because I think a
- 23:22Speaker 2: lot of these superpowers on each team do kind of
- 23:24Speaker 2: cancel each other out. Yeah. We'll see. It's going to
- 23:26Speaker 2: be about the 11 guys on the field, how well
- 23:28Speaker 2: they execute, how well that offensive line can hold up.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I thought they played great against Clemson. They didn't play
- 23:33Speaker 2: great this past weekend. But again, it wasn't like a
- 23:36Speaker 2: physical thing. They didn't just get beat physically all the time.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Not credit to Louisiana Tech. They did play well and
- 23:41Speaker 2: play hard. That nose guard played hard. Blocking a nose
- 23:44Speaker 2: is really tough.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That linebacker from Hainesville had three sacks.
- 23:49Speaker 2: He was good. And it just was one of those
- 23:52Speaker 2: deals where they didn't play well because of the communication
- 23:55Speaker 2: and I believe they misidentified a lot of stuff pre-snap
- 24:00Speaker 2: as well.
- 24:01Speaker 1: If you're Pete Golding, do you try to do any
- 24:03Speaker 1: of that? That's hard, right?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:05Speaker 1: It's hard to install. It's college football. It's not the NFL.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You don't have all day there. I mean, more than
- 24:11Speaker 1: we did, but still, you don't have all day at
- 24:13Speaker 1: the facility. You're probably worried about if I put this in,
- 24:16Speaker 1: is there going to be missed assignments for us? But
- 24:18Speaker 1: I'm just saying, do they put anything that they saw
- 24:20Speaker 1: three-man front, odd-man front-wise into the game plan? Just as
- 24:24Speaker 1: a change of pace.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I would say so. I mean, everybody's got some sort
- 24:26Speaker 2: of odd front package or a walk-around package. And to me,
- 24:30Speaker 2: it's like the how quickly can you identify something and
- 24:34Speaker 2: change your assignment in your brain and flip that switch
- 24:37Speaker 2: from one thing to the next. And that's what got
- 24:38Speaker 2: LSU in trouble a little bit this past weekend was
- 24:41Speaker 2: they lined up one way. There was a nose. There
- 24:43Speaker 2: was two, three techniques or four techniques or whatever. There
- 24:45Speaker 2: was linebackers mugged up. Then right before the snap, they shifted.
- 24:49Speaker 2: And it switched all the assignments of the mic and
- 24:52Speaker 2: the wheel declaration, and they just couldn't flip that switch
- 24:56Speaker 2: fast enough all the time to get to their blocks
- 24:57Speaker 2: and maintain them. Now, they got there, but at that
- 25:00Speaker 2: point they were in a bad position, and they were
- 25:02Speaker 2: getting beat inside or outside. It wasn't because they were
- 25:04Speaker 2: physically getting beat. They were hesitant to get to that block.
- 25:08Speaker 2: All right.
- 25:08Speaker 1: We'll continue breaking it down, continue looking at some of
- 25:11Speaker 1: the matchup. And, again, our film study is going to
- 25:13Speaker 1: be– we'll start it in studio a little bit tomorrow.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Then we'll go over to the garage– And we'll have
- 25:18Speaker 1: Eye in the Sky where we do a little bit
- 25:20Speaker 1: of a review of the game and what we kind
- 25:23Speaker 1: of saw from LSU against Louisiana Tech. And I think
- 25:26Speaker 1: as the week goes on, we'll try to look at
- 25:28Speaker 1: the opponent a little bit more as well this week
- 25:30Speaker 1: with Ole Miss. And so we'll make sure we let
- 25:32Speaker 1: you know whenever that is dropped. All right, we will
- 25:34Speaker 1: take a break. More OTB when we come back here
- 25:37Speaker 1: live from U Club. Off the bench. You said you
- 25:41Speaker 1: cared for me better. Louisiana.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Murder on that beat. Off the Bench with.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 26:01Speaker 2: All right, welcome back here.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Off the Bench.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Look, Louisiana's old. always been at the center of American energy.
- 26:22Speaker 2: And Caterus is investing in what comes next here in Louisiana.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Caterus is developing the Commonwealth LNG Export Facility over there
- 26:28Speaker 2: in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The project is designed to take
- 26:31Speaker 2: American natural gas produced here at home and help deliver
- 26:35Speaker 2: it to customers and energy markets around the world. And
- 26:38Speaker 2: that means a major investment right here in Louisiana, supporting
- 26:40Speaker 2: local jobs, local business, infrastructure, and long-term economic activity across
- 26:44Speaker 2: the Gulf Coast. Caterus is building a an integrated natural
- 26:48Speaker 2: gas business that connects American energy production with the growing
- 26:51Speaker 2: global demand for reliable energy. It's another example of Louisiana
- 26:54Speaker 2: doing what Louisiana has done for generations, and that is
- 26:58Speaker 2: helping America and the world. Caterus, a Commonwealth LNG, investing
- 27:03Speaker 2: in Louisiana and connecting American energy to the global market
- 27:06Speaker 2: over there at our friends at Caterus.
- 27:09Speaker 1: All right, we are back here at U Club, LSU
- 27:12Speaker 1: Alumni Association Golf Tournament, continuing to break down LSU Tech.
- 27:18Speaker 1: We took a look at the Saints and Lions a
- 27:21Speaker 1: little bit earlier. And for that play where Jared Goff
- 27:24Speaker 1: absolutely fumbled and they called it a non-fumble. What was that?
- 27:28Speaker 1: I want to be able to show that tape and
- 27:29Speaker 1: kind of go over that in studio tomorrow. So we'll
- 27:31Speaker 1: spend a little bit more time on that because it's just,
- 27:34Speaker 1: You can't explain that one to me, and I know
- 27:36Speaker 1: Mike Pereira came on. He tried to. He's got to
- 27:38Speaker 1: back up his buddies. I get that. But you just,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I don't even care what the rule is. Like, you
- 27:42Speaker 1: have to use common sense to fumble, to fumble every
- 27:45Speaker 1: single time. Anytime the ball goes backwards, I don't care
- 27:47Speaker 1: how it happens. It is a fumble. We'll talk about it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: We'll show it more in studio tomorrow. This is one
- 27:52Speaker 2: of those moments in time that the NFL, they won't
- 27:55Speaker 2: do this, but they should do this. Like, I get it.
- 27:58Speaker 2: You always kind of got to, you know, protect the
- 28:00Speaker 2: shield and, You know, you've got to be the experts always.
- 28:03Speaker 2: But this is one of those times they could try
- 28:05Speaker 2: to gain a little favor and trust with the NFL
- 28:08Speaker 2: audience and say, you know what? We were wrong. That actually,
- 28:12Speaker 2: it's common sense. That actually was a fumble. Now, this
- 28:16Speaker 2: never happens, okay? You're never going to say a ref
- 28:19Speaker 2: was wrong. They're always going to skirt that line or
- 28:21Speaker 2: say a whole lot of nothing. This would be one
- 28:23Speaker 2: of those times that I think you could build a
- 28:24Speaker 2: lot of trust. And I think people would appreciate it
- 28:27Speaker 2: and understand. We get it. Mistakes happen. It's a human thing. Now,
- 28:31Speaker 2: there's a mistake that happened that cost a lot of
- 28:32Speaker 2: people a lot of money, and it had a lot
- 28:35Speaker 2: of stakes, but it was a mistake. Nobody's perfect. I
- 28:38Speaker 2: get it. And if you thought one thing or misinterpreted it,
- 28:41Speaker 2: but at some point, you got to put the book
- 28:44Speaker 2: down and just look with your eyes. Anything, any way
- 28:48Speaker 2: a ball goes backwards– if your hand is going so
- 28:51Speaker 2: forward and it goes.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Backwards, it doesn't matter. It just does not.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And that has been the rules.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Even, even golf himself, like he had fully given himself
- 28:59Speaker 1: over to, it was a turnover. He was on the
- 29:01Speaker 1: bench sitting down with a hat on. And then when
- 29:03Speaker 1: they said that it was actually not like you saw
- 29:06Speaker 1: like his face, he.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Was like, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. So yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 2: it's a pretty wild. I don't like, I, I don't
- 29:15Speaker 2: know if anybody out there can actually with a straight face, uh,
- 29:18Speaker 2: agree with that.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah when they said yeah but when your intent is
- 29:23Speaker 1: to throw it forward it doesn't matter where it lands
- 29:26Speaker 1: i can't imagine i can't imagine the rage from saints
- 29:30Speaker 1: fans and hearing that because i was like what what
- 29:33Speaker 1: are we talking about so like your intent i i
- 29:36Speaker 1: intended not to fumble but it happened i intended not
- 29:39Speaker 1: to throw it in but it happened.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Let me ask you this let me pose this question
- 29:42Speaker 2: a little hypothetical what if jared goth had been scrambling
- 29:45Speaker 2: at the time and he accidentally goes one yard in
- 29:48Speaker 2: front of the line of scrimmage and that happens would
- 29:50Speaker 2: it be an illegal forward pass it's a good question
- 29:54Speaker 2: something to think about Because it went backwards. Let's just
- 29:59Speaker 2: say it's dumb. Because his wrist did this little thing.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Oh, man. That's one of the– and I know Taylor
- 30:06Speaker 1: hates this, but, like, if I was a Saints fan,
- 30:10Speaker 1: I swear I'd be like, man, I keep– we keep
- 30:16Speaker 1: getting calls against us that just aren't natural.
- 30:21Speaker 2: They don't happen to anybody else. They're talking about it
- 30:23Speaker 2: here in the chat. What's a worse, that or the
- 30:27Speaker 2: no call? They're both egregious. Obviously, way more stakes. I
- 30:31Speaker 2: get it. But just from a bad call standpoint, you
- 30:34Speaker 2: could argue that pass interference is always a little bit subjective, right? Yeah, right.
- 30:39Speaker 2: This was objectively. Yeah, I agree.
- 30:43Speaker 1: This was to the letter of the law.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Apparently, they knew a different law. But at least these
- 30:50Speaker 2: types of things is reviewable because there is supposed to
- 30:52Speaker 2: be clear-cut evidence. It looked pretty clear-cut to me. Pass interference,
- 30:57Speaker 2: you can't review that. There is a little subjectivity to that,
- 31:00Speaker 2: as bad as it was, from a bad call standpoint.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. No one's going to be
- 31:06Speaker 2: able to explain and convince me that it's a forward pass. Yeah. Nope.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Because it wasn't.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Because they even said it was backwards. But his intent,
- 31:15Speaker 1: he had a hard try.
- 31:17Speaker 2: To throw it forward. It was a good try.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It was a good try. I took a touchdown off
- 31:22Speaker 1: the board.
- 31:23Speaker 2: What if you throw a bubble screen from under center,
- 31:25Speaker 2: and it goes backwards, but you were trying to throw it?
- 31:28Speaker 2: I was trying to throw it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I had that happen to me one time. I ran
- 31:31Speaker 1: like an M route, and me and Phillip were kind
- 31:34Speaker 1: of like on the same level. Now, I thought it
- 31:36Speaker 1: was a forward pass because I had to try to
- 31:38Speaker 1: go down by my shoes and put my arms fully extended,
- 31:41Speaker 1: and it skipped on the ground. When it skipped, it
- 31:44Speaker 1: went like 10 yards, and the Patriots picked it up
- 31:46Speaker 1: and started going the other way after like five seconds.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Because their coach is like, get.
- 31:50Speaker 2: On the ball, get on the ball, get on the ball.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Is this a snowflake situation? Like that backward pass identified
- 31:55Speaker 2: as a forward pass? That took you a second.
- 32:01Speaker 1: At first, I don't know.
- 32:03Speaker 2: That backward pass is going to go into the forward
- 32:06Speaker 2: pass's restroom. It's going to go into their bathroom.
- 32:08Speaker 1: When you said snowflake, I started going to Ace Ventura.
- 32:13Speaker 1: the dolphin his name's Snowflake.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Okay and I was just like do you know him
- 32:16Speaker 2: I was.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Like all right how's he gonna tie this all back
- 32:18Speaker 1: together I didn't call you at home I didn't know
- 32:21Speaker 1: what you were doing too yeah that's uh that's brutal
- 32:24Speaker 1: and again we'll show that more uh tomorrow once we
- 32:27Speaker 1: get back in studio and have the capability to uh
- 32:29Speaker 1: throw that up there on the screen so tough tough
- 32:34Speaker 1: tough break tough break but again Saints played their butts
- 32:38Speaker 1: off in the second half and In and over time
- 32:41Speaker 1: as well, and it's remarkable they gave themselves a good chance. Taylor,
- 32:45Speaker 1: inside the chat, the Saints have never actually lost a
- 32:47Speaker 1: game on their own. Every loss is on the referees. Taylor,
- 32:50Speaker 1: as somebody that's on the outside looking in, the Saints,
- 32:53Speaker 1: they kind of do have an argument. They really do.
- 32:56Speaker 1: They get a lot of bad ones. Some of the
- 32:57Speaker 1: calls that have gone against them are wild and not
- 33:01Speaker 1: actually the right, correct call, so I'll back Saints fans
- 33:04Speaker 1: up in this one. And by the way, you should
- 33:06Speaker 1: worry about the Cowboys sucking like our teams suck.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Hey, I want everyone to know, big announcement. Announcement.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You're not Marler.
- 33:12Speaker 2: On this non-Marler Monday.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Announcement. I found myself, like, not even trying, subconsciously cheering
- 33:22Speaker 2: during the Saints game for the Saints. Does that mean
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'm becoming a fan?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Oh, well, yeah.
- 33:27Speaker 2: That's a big deal, I feel like.
- 33:28Speaker 1: If the Saints aren't playing the Chargers, I'm rooting for
- 33:31Speaker 1: the Saints. I kind of had to force myself to
- 33:33Speaker 1: watch a little bit. And you played for the Saints.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I was there. I mean, you got paid by them.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I was there.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Did you cash a check that said New Orleans Saints?
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. I sure did.
- 33:43Speaker 1: There you go.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I almost got in the game a couple times. Not
- 33:46Speaker 2: a big deal. But, yeah, but I subconsciously was cheering yesterday. Yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 2: I was. I found myself on the touchdown going, yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I was, too. And I looked at my fist and
- 33:56Speaker 2: I was like, what am I doing?
- 33:57Speaker 1: I mean, and you know me. I love Dan Campbell,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and I love Kelvin Shepard and the grit and all that.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So I like Detroit as well. But, hell, yeah, I
- 34:04Speaker 1: was cheering for the Saints. No offense scored that. gave
- 34:07Speaker 1: a little let's go yeah Harlow was sleeping I think
- 34:11Speaker 1: she was napping so it was like a quiet let's
- 34:12Speaker 1: go you know I get it and I love I
- 34:17Speaker 1: loved going for two absolutely loved.
- 34:19Speaker 2: It oh it's a right call it's a right call
- 34:21Speaker 2: just didn't like it I don't know I don't know
- 34:23Speaker 2: if I've really seen anybody that didn't like it I
- 34:25Speaker 2: mean a minute and a half no I'm true but
- 34:28Speaker 2: it's it's a decision that you have to either critique
- 34:31Speaker 2: or celebrate certainly but I mean what do you come
- 34:36Speaker 2: for the time and then they can still drive down
- 34:38Speaker 2: and kick a field goal.
- 34:39Speaker 1: And, again, like you have to take all the factors.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Like they have a really good kicker.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Like if you kick the extra point and then they
- 34:47Speaker 2: drive down, get to the 45, and make a 58-yard
- 34:50Speaker 2: field goal to win it, like you're sitting there hammering
- 34:53Speaker 2: Kellen Moore. Like why didn't you do this? Why didn't
- 34:56Speaker 2: you go for two to end it? That was twice
- 34:57Speaker 2: that you could have gone for two and ended the game.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Like you're hammering. Like it was the right decision in
- 35:03Speaker 2: all accounts, 100%.
- 35:09Speaker 1: And now it doesn't get any easier for you. You
- 35:11Speaker 1: travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah. It doesn't get any easier for your Chargers either.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I think from here on out, they got like the
- 35:18Speaker 2: second hardest schedule. They do. That was supposed to be
- 35:23Speaker 2: the layup. I know. Cardinals. But you know what?
- 35:26Speaker 1: I mean, the Bush League Bolts are known for doing this.
- 35:30Speaker 1: If you go back to a year ago, they lost
- 35:33Speaker 1: to some bad football teams. Like, let me, I want
- 35:36Speaker 1: to make sure I get it right. Cause I know
- 35:37Speaker 1: they lost to the giants last year and the giants
- 35:39Speaker 1: were obviously not great. It's why they were picking in
- 35:42Speaker 1: the top five, but yeah, last year they lost to
- 35:45Speaker 1: the giants and to the commanders. Both those teams were
- 35:48Speaker 1: picking in the top seven of the draft. Now the
- 35:52Speaker 1: other loss was Jacksonville. They got absolutely hammered. Jacksonville was
- 35:55Speaker 1: a good team, but then they lost the last two
- 35:57Speaker 1: games to Houston and Denver. So yeah, but they still
- 36:00Speaker 1: lost to two teams picking in the top seven a
- 36:02Speaker 1: year ago. Now they won their first three, lost those two,
- 36:06Speaker 1: lost to the Colts as well. The Chargers are going
- 36:11Speaker 1: to charge her, bud. Anytime you put any kind of
- 36:13Speaker 1: expectation on them, they are going to charge her.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Make no mistake about it. Is it a little bit
- 36:18Speaker 2: of an indictment? I think the move was celebrated when
- 36:22Speaker 2: Harbaugh brought on McDaniel. Oh, for sure. I was excited
- 36:25Speaker 2: about it. But Harbaugh's an offensive guy. Do you think
- 36:28Speaker 2: it's a little bit of an indictment that he, I
- 36:32Speaker 2: don't know what the word is, outsourced his offense?
- 36:35Speaker 1: I mean, Greg Roman was gone the last couple years.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I mean, Greg Roman's been in the game so long,
- 36:40Speaker 1: he's not going to not call his offense.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Again, McDaniel's a really good offensive coach. He's made Tua
- 36:49Speaker 2: look really good for at least a couple of years.
- 36:52Speaker 2: We know how that's played out outside of those couple
- 36:54Speaker 2: of years.
- 36:55Speaker 1: So, to your point, real quick.
- 36:56Speaker 2: To my point?
- 36:59Speaker 1: About the Chargers. They do get Las Vegas next week.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Who did win?
- 37:02Speaker 1: But then they go at Buffalo, at Seattle, Denver, at
- 37:06Speaker 1: Kansas City, at L.A. Rams, Houston, at Baltimore.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Giddy up. Giddy up. Let's go.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Bolt up, should I say. You better bolt something.
- 37:17Speaker 2: All right.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Let's go ahead and... Get ready for a little Ask
- 37:21Speaker 1: the Bench brought to you by Ice Cold Dos Equis.
- 37:24Speaker 1: And before we get to that, I do want to
- 37:25Speaker 1: remind you about our friends over at RejuveMe, RejuveMeMedical.com, 13

- 37:32Speaker 1: in Mississippi, although maybe this week we don't recognize that location.
- 37:36Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 37:36Speaker 1: We'll see how the week goes. But no matter what
- 37:39Speaker 1: location you go to, remember, blood work, easy. Consultation, easy.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Get you on a plan for success and get you back.
- 37:47Speaker 1: to feeling like your youthful self, first step, it's going
- 37:49Speaker 1: to be back. Even if you lost it, it's going
- 37:51Speaker 1: to be back there. Don't do that. Don't do that.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Somebody's going to fall hurt. If you do that, go
- 37:56Speaker 1: to RejuvenateMedical.com. Again, get those labs done. Get that consultation
- 38:00Speaker 1: set up. RejuvenateMedical.com.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I can't wait. I'm about to get on
- 38:03Speaker 2: that NAD +. My brain. Yeah. I told you. I
- 38:07Speaker 2: had my consultation last week. Went back there and did
- 38:10Speaker 2: my NAD +. It's not a big deal. It's just
- 38:11Speaker 2: going to make me smarter. I told you.
- 38:14Speaker 1: That's a lot of heavy lifting.
- 38:15Speaker 2: It's a lot of heavy lifting. Get rid of that
- 38:18Speaker 2: brain fog. Help the brain power a little bit. It's
- 38:22Speaker 2: going to be awesome.
- 38:23Speaker 1: All right.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Something your body already makes. It just helps.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Helps support it.
- 38:27Speaker 2: A lot of it. It helps you. They kind of
- 38:29Speaker 2: explain to me.
- 38:29Speaker 1: They give you double the dose?
- 38:30Speaker 2: They kind of explain to me, like, it's going to
- 38:32Speaker 2: help you. You know that feeling when you can't think
- 38:34Speaker 2: of that word? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the feeling. It's
- 38:36Speaker 2: going to help a lot of that. And I was like, well,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I get that about 14 times a day from 7
- 38:40Speaker 2: to 10 a.m. right here. 1 to 4, 5, ESPN.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Ask the bench to wrap it up when we come
- 38:46Speaker 1: back here live from U Club. Off the bench. 14

- 40:23Speaker 1: We'll ask the bench brought to you by Ice Cold
- 40:25Speaker 1: Dos Equis. And again, we'll be back in studio tomorrow.
- 40:29Speaker 1: We'll go through some of the tape. Also, we've got
- 40:32Speaker 1: our Eye in the Sky film review. It's going to
- 40:34Speaker 1: be filmed tomorrow after the show. And then the great
- 40:38Speaker 1: Alondra Blank Space Villarreal will load that up. And we'll
- 40:40Speaker 1: have it sometime tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night. We'll make sure
- 40:44Speaker 1: we let you know whenever that episode does drop. We
- 40:47Speaker 1: just got to keep Flynn on time.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Pro. If anybody.
- 40:51Speaker 1: You'd be going like in on some plays.
- 40:54Speaker 2: I know. I was watching. So I was trying to
- 40:55Speaker 2: get a little film study in yesterday at the house.
- 40:58Speaker 2: And I was about 90 minutes in to my film study.
- 41:01Speaker 2: And there was still like three and a half minutes
- 41:03Speaker 2: left in the first quarter. And I was like, oh,
- 41:06Speaker 2: maybe I'd be watching too much. Yeah. It's all right.
- 41:10Speaker 2: We'll tighten it up.
- 41:11Speaker 1: We'll hone you in.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I don't know if you're going to change this. We
- 41:14Speaker 2: have to.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I mean, I can stay for an hour on Tuesdays.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I got an hour for you. So from 11 to 12,
- 41:21Speaker 1: I'll be there. After that, just like I disappeared in
- 41:24Speaker 1: the last.
- 41:24Speaker 2: One, I'll disappear in this one. It wasn't because you
- 41:27Speaker 2: had to go number two. It was because you had
- 41:28Speaker 2: to go do a radio show. Yes.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Hashtag Ask the Bench is Coach O. Okay, I saw
- 41:33Speaker 1: the video over the weekend and it didn't look great
- 41:35Speaker 1: praying for his health. He did have a little bit
- 41:37Speaker 1: of a health issue, but he's on the other side
- 41:39Speaker 1: of it. And so each and every day getting better
- 41:41Speaker 1: and better. And so I saw him a couple weeks
- 41:43Speaker 1: ago and certainly looked better than he did. And so
- 41:45Speaker 1: he'll continue to progress. And I would imagine Coach O
- 41:49Speaker 1: is going to find a way probably to find his
- 41:51Speaker 1: way to Oxford, Mississippi some way, somehow, and be.
- 41:54Speaker 2: There for that game. Got to.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I had like three more. They jumped on me. Hashtag
- 41:59Speaker 1: Ask the Bench. My daughter has a bunch of Pokemon
- 42:02Speaker 1: cards she wants to sell, and I know nothing about them.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Any place in Baton Rouge that can give her an
- 42:06Speaker 1: honest assessment of them? I know AJ's does Pokemon cards.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I mean, there's apps and stuff that can give you
- 42:15Speaker 2: kind of a– that can comp them. I think there's
- 42:18Speaker 2: one specific to Pokemon. I think my kids downloaded it
- 42:21Speaker 2: where basically you take a picture of it, and it
- 42:23Speaker 2: kind of shows you what the sales are on that card. Now,
- 42:26Speaker 2: I have one.
- 42:27Speaker 1: eBay does it too. eBay with added Pokemon cards, it
- 42:30Speaker 1: will scan your card and tell you the recent sales.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Card ladders, for those accurate, it is a paid one.
- 42:36Speaker 2: You do have to pay a monthly fee. I mean,
- 42:38Speaker 2: I do it enough to where it makes sense for me,
- 42:41Speaker 2: but it is a paid one. Yeah. But there's other
- 42:43Speaker 2: sources out there.
- 42:44Speaker 1: When I was moving a bunch of cards, I had
- 42:45Speaker 1: card ladder, but I hadn't sold enough lately.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Well, I actually sell them in town. But I'm sure
- 42:51Speaker 2: if the good folks over at AJ's would do it
- 42:53Speaker 2: as well. great folks.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Uh let's see hashtag ask the bench who's going to
- 43:02Speaker 1: be the leading receiver for lsu this weekend trade is
- 43:06Speaker 1: trade is the fastest way to the end zone matt
- 43:10Speaker 1: is where over the middle who's really good over the
- 43:13Speaker 1: middle trade is he did he he looks so much stronger.
- 43:17Speaker 2: He is a lot his he had i don't hadn't
- 43:19Speaker 2: really seen him make a real piss poor block yet No.
- 43:22Speaker 2: He's getting his face in there. Yeah. He's getting his hand.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Good hat placement.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Breaking tackles when he catches it, too.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Breaking tackles. You know, a lot of these guys, you
- 43:30Speaker 2: look at these individual plays and you're watching this film and, like,
- 43:32Speaker 2: you're like, man, that wasn't a great route. Or what's
- 43:34Speaker 2: he doing backside? And then I often forget. I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 43:38Speaker 2: they are going so fast. And this is, like, play
- 43:40Speaker 2: 12 of the drive. A lot of these times they're
- 43:42Speaker 2: probably exhausted. But on the film it kind of, like,
- 43:46Speaker 2: looks like they're a little bit heavy-footed here and there.
- 43:48Speaker 2: But I always have to remind myself that. Like the
- 43:50Speaker 2: pick six. We hadn't really discussed the pick six too
- 43:53Speaker 2: much in the loaf.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to show that one.
- 43:57Speaker 2: We'll talk about that a little bit tomorrow. But you
- 43:59Speaker 2: also got to remember, it was the 21st play in
- 44:00Speaker 2: the drive, and he might not have heard it. He
- 44:03Speaker 2: might have been just absolutely gassed. But if you isolate
- 44:08Speaker 2: that one play, it looks really bad. But there's a
- 44:11Speaker 2: lot of things to factor in.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And that's what this offense is.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 1: That's a player that's played in it for multiple years,
- 44:19Speaker 1: so nobody knows it better than he does. And so,
- 44:22Speaker 1: you know, I'm not saying I.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Can do it.
- 44:23Speaker 1: 21 plays in, I'm tapping my head. Hey, where's Charles Scott?
- 44:28Speaker 2: Where's Keelan?
- 44:29Speaker 1: Hey, y'all come on. Y'all got one?
- 44:31Speaker 2: Come get one. I'd be tired as a quarterback. Come
- 44:33Speaker 2: get one.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, would you tap your head for a parallel to
- 44:35Speaker 1: come in?
- 44:36Speaker 2: Absolutely. Hammer hatch.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Our Jimmy Welker.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Let's go. Let's go. Next man up.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Jimmy Welker, shout out. Arena football legend.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Hashtag ask the bench, is the show going on the
- 44:50Speaker 1: road to Oxford?
- 44:51Speaker 2: No, it's not. We talked about it once, but then
- 44:54Speaker 2: we didn't talk about it again.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Is any show going? Alondra, Tay-Tay, no shows are going.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Shockingly, no businesses in Oxford want to host an LSU show.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Touche.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Touche.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I bet our friends over at Blue Delta Jeans would
- 45:14Speaker 1: have done it.
- 45:14Speaker 2: I don't think doing our show from 7 to 10 a.m.
- 45:17Speaker 2: on the day before the game would get real the
- 45:20Speaker 2: vibe that you want.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Oh, we get the juices flowing.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Always.
- 45:23Speaker 1: No doubt about it.
- 45:24Speaker 2: All right.
- 45:25Speaker 1: We love you. We thank you. Tomorrow's a big day
- 45:27Speaker 1: on the show. Get back in studio. Show you some tape.
- 45:30Speaker 1: LSU versus Ole Miss. We're going to show you some
- 45:32Speaker 1: tape from the Saints game. All that coming your way
