- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listenings KFI AM six forty the Bill Handles show
- 0:04Speaker 1: on demand on the iHeartRadio app. There's an old adage
- 0:13Speaker 1: and that is human beings they walk with their feet,
- 0:16Speaker 1: they stood with their face. No, no, that's not right. Okay,
- 0:21Speaker 1: it was right. No, no, it's it's not right. I
- 0:25Speaker 1: don't remember it correctly.
- 0:27Speaker 2: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:32Speaker 2: Bill Handle.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Good morning. You ever had one. It is a Wednesday,
- 0:38Speaker 3: October eighth, when we are into.
- 0:41Speaker 1: A holiday Wednesday, and wow, fair amount is going on?
- 0:47Speaker 3: Anybody?
- 0:47Speaker 1: See Pam Bondy yesterday appearing in front of the Senate,
- 0:52Speaker 1: the tucking smack ah man screaming at the senators every
- 0:58Speaker 1: time they a Democrat asked her a question.
- 1:01Speaker 3: She screams back, I mean screams back.
- 1:04Speaker 4: She wasn't streaming, she was screaming.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It was you talk about now in terms of people
- 1:13Speaker 1: appearing in front of the Senate, in front of the House,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and it is it used to be well on a
- 1:19Speaker 1: I would say quasi bad or a good level. People
- 1:22Speaker 1: were intimidated by you go in front of Congress and
- 1:24Speaker 1: go in front of the committee.
- 1:25Speaker 3: That is something really serious.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Now, now if it's a Republican committee, and you're a
- 1:31Speaker 1: Democrat or you're a pro Democrat, you scream right at him.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You just throw it back, and it's the other way around.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I think both sides are doing lots of screaming. But
- 1:38Speaker 2: she did call Adam Schiff a failed lawyer and a liar.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, that's terrific. And uh, when and when
- 1:47Speaker 1: it came to call me was brought up. Uh, and
- 1:51Speaker 1: Tom Homan was brought up, who is headed Border Security?
- 1:55Speaker 1: And she was asked, why wasn't he prosecuted because the
- 1:59Speaker 1: FBI allegedly has a videotape of him accepting fifty.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Thousand dollars in cash.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And she came back with, we investigated and there's nothing there.
- 2:09Speaker 1: There is no case. However, let's talk about Komy. By
- 2:13Speaker 1: the way, the Komy case is going to explode on them.
- 2:15Speaker 1: But it doesn't matter. You know, when you talk about
- 2:18Speaker 1: weaponizing the just Department of Justice or any governmental, any
- 2:25Speaker 1: governmental energy or the irs, it doesn't matter. You're on
- 2:28Speaker 1: their radar screen, you're in trouble because if the Justice
- 2:32Speaker 1: Department or the DA goes after you, whether or not
- 2:36Speaker 1: you are guilty or innocent, it's going to break you.
- 2:39Speaker 3: It's going to break you. A defense.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Kmy's defense is going to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars,
- 2:46Speaker 1: if not more.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's being funded.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It probably is by some organization, but it's at least
- 2:52Speaker 1: it's getting entertaining. I mean, when's the last time you
- 2:55Speaker 1: heard someone a witnessed scream at the center of the
- 3:00Speaker 1: congress person in the scream you are a liar, You're
- 3:02Speaker 1: a failed attorney. I have this great stuff. I mean
- 3:05Speaker 1: it just that's the way it's going these days. All right,
- 3:08Speaker 1: A quick hello, Hello.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Amy, Hi Bill.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I always calls me on my exaggeration. I always say
- 3:15Speaker 1: it's closer to screaming than not. But that's what's side
- 3:17Speaker 1: your point. Wearing the Dodger judgy. Oh, so, what happened
- 3:22Speaker 1: with the game? I didn't pay attention.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Well, that's because there wasn't a game last night. The
- 3:27Speaker 4: Dodgers played today. Game starts at six oh eight. They're
- 3:31Speaker 4: back at Dodger Stadium and leading the series two games
- 3:34Speaker 4: to none. So if they win today, they sweep and
- 3:36Speaker 4: go on to the championships. If they lose today, they
- 3:39Speaker 4: played game four tomorrow.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And you have tickets for that. I heard that, and
- 3:43Speaker 3: I have.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Tickets for that, so it's I'm really in a quandrum.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Now did you buy the tickets for that? Yes?
- 3:48Speaker 1: So what do you do if the Dodgers win tonight?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Do you get to go to just an empty stadium
- 3:54Speaker 1: and look at the grass?
- 3:57Speaker 4: They do refund you. It takes about six months, but
- 3:59Speaker 4: they do refunded.
- 4:02Speaker 3: By the way, how much were the tickets? Can I ask.
- 4:07Speaker 4: For this one? I think there were? There are different
- 4:12Speaker 4: prices for different series, like why I think it was
- 4:15Speaker 4: like three fifty or four hundred for these.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Per ticket per game. Wow. And then you have Super
- 4:22Speaker 3: Bowl tickets, for example.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Decent tickets, the three that are available thousands, tens of
- 4:29Speaker 1: thousands of dollars.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they're going for a lot more than that,
- 4:31Speaker 4: I would imagine, But we got them because we're season
- 4:35Speaker 4: ticket holders.
- 4:36Speaker 3: H of course you are, and well with a.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Bunch of other people, I couldn't four my own.
- 4:42Speaker 3: No, No, I get it, No, I get it.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And that's basically you almost have to be you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but they still charge you for all the championship games.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I get that. All right. Well, hello to
- 4:51Speaker 3: you and any Kate, Hello and Neil, good.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Morning, Good morning, Willie Wolf.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And Cono, good morning. Happy Uh fluff another day. Uh,
- 5:01Speaker 3: it's what today?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Fluffer nudder fluffer, noter nudder fluffer nutter. Now I know
- 5:08Speaker 1: what a nutter is, and I know what he is. Okay,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I don't know what those two combined are.
- 5:16Speaker 3: It's a peanut butter and a marshmallow sandwich done on
- 5:20Speaker 3: a Porno set.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Oh, it's delicious event in nineteen sixty, okay, by an
- 5:27Speaker 1: advertising company, just when porno really exploded, you know, when
- 5:31Speaker 1: the Supreme Court was making all those rulings on First
- 5:35Speaker 1: Amendment in porno and very How's that for a coincidence?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Huh uh? And good morning, Good morning Bill?
- 5:45Speaker 1: And uh it's got here I go again. Mike Morris,
- 5:48Speaker 1: Mike Harris.
- 5:50Speaker 4: No, it's Randy Fuller today.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's Randy.
- 5:53Speaker 3: That's close. Hello, Randy, Hello there, good morning. Who the
- 5:57Speaker 3: hell are you now?
- 5:58Speaker 5: I'm just some guy walked.
- 5:59Speaker 1: In heads obviously, I have no idea. Are you connected
- 6:03Speaker 1: to the station? We are a homeless guy on the
- 6:05Speaker 1: street that they grabbed. Are you a college stone?
- 6:08Speaker 3: Usually I'm I'm I come up in the afternoons.
- 6:11Speaker 5: When I do come up, but rare morning appearance for me.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see you know you sound like you're
- 6:17Speaker 1: about to fall asleep.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Oh okay, anyway, welcome aboard.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Thank you very much.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Oh okay, there we go all of it. Any other
- 6:26Speaker 1: bits of news is going on? I don't think really, no, No,
- 6:31Speaker 1: we have some news across the board. And of course,
- 6:33Speaker 1: oh is it going to be Trump news today? Just
- 6:36Speaker 1: a little tiny bit and we start with that. Oh
- 6:39Speaker 1: and today other than you know, Fluffer day national fluffer
- 6:45Speaker 1: one of the two.
- 6:45Speaker 3: You know, that's fine. What other national day is it?
- 6:48Speaker 1: I think we're now going to start a segment every
- 6:50Speaker 1: morning with Amy's going to go today.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Is and then we go through the list.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I used to do that.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we can start that again just for fine, just
- 6:59Speaker 1: throw you know, a couple of u a couple of
- 7:02Speaker 1: the of the national holidays, if you were, if you will,
- 7:06Speaker 1: out there for our our friends in radio land to appreciate.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Okay, guys, ready to do it.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I know I use radio Land all the time and
- 7:14Speaker 1: you always look at me, Neil, like I'm out of
- 7:16Speaker 1: my mind. All right, matter of fact, you look at
- 7:20Speaker 1: me like I'm out of my mind every time we
- 7:22Speaker 1: anytime we look.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And just said that it's national start the effing news
- 7:27Speaker 2: day today.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Ah, got it all right, So let's do that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and I handle on the news with Amy Neil
- 7:35Speaker 1: and me lead story. Well, let me start with Trump
- 7:41Speaker 1: news howe and highly unusual, uh the yesterday the President
- 7:45Speaker 1: floated the possibility that some of the furloughed workers, federal
- 7:49Speaker 1: workers are not going to get back pay. Now, the
- 7:53Speaker 1: law says they do get back pay. And it was
- 7:55Speaker 1: Trump who signed that law during his first term, and
- 8:00Speaker 1: so what is that about?
- 8:01Speaker 3: It goes we'll see, we'll see some.
- 8:03Speaker 1: People don't deserve back pay, and of course they're going
- 8:06Speaker 1: to get back pay unless he just decides I don't
- 8:09Speaker 1: care about the law at all. And but it may
- 8:13Speaker 1: go to court and you know he will lose on
- 8:16Speaker 1: that one because the law is very clear. So I
- 8:21Speaker 1: don't know if it's to pressure on the stopping of
- 8:27Speaker 1: this fight that's going on where the government is shut down,
- 8:30Speaker 1: maybe to avert that.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It's some people getting pretty upset about it. And air
- 8:34Speaker 1: traffic controllers. Man, there's a story there. But let's go
- 8:38Speaker 1: on and talk about pam Bondi yesterday.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Well, Pambondi was in the hot seat, and she was
- 8:45Speaker 4: firing off a lot of accusations and comments about the
- 8:52Speaker 4: Democrats who were questioning our attorney general. Pambondi was in
- 8:56Speaker 4: a battle with the Democrats. Of course, like we were
- 8:58Speaker 4: talking about, the republic were all very nice to her.
- 9:01Speaker 4: She said she took office with two main goals to
- 9:04Speaker 4: end the weaponization of justice and return the Department to
- 9:06Speaker 4: its core mission of fighting violent crime, and the Democrats
- 9:09Speaker 4: one by one accused her of doing the exact opposite.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that is the accusation. You're stopping the
- 9:16Speaker 1: weaponization by weaponizing. And when the senators asked, but when
- 9:22Speaker 1: you go after targeted people, when the president tells you
- 9:27Speaker 1: to go after a person specifically, that's not a weaponization,
- 9:32Speaker 1: And she went right back saying, no, you were weaponizing.
- 9:35Speaker 3: We didn't, Are you a liar?
- 9:37Speaker 1: I mean, just on and on and on, and she deferred,
- 9:40Speaker 1: it deflected everything.
- 9:42Speaker 5: And then Republicans would grill her.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, what Ted Cruz said to her, You know, we
- 9:52Speaker 1: thank you for upholding America and bringing America back the
- 9:56Speaker 1: Department of Justice to where it should be, and that
- 9:58Speaker 1: is dealing with the law because the pre this administration
- 10:00Speaker 1: did not it was weaponization.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It is crazy, horrible, it is crazy. It's crazy. It's
- 10:05Speaker 3: all crazy. It's all crazy.
- 10:06Speaker 1: The difference is that there is establishing a new procedure,
- 10:10Speaker 1: which there will be no procedures. These hearings, these congressional
- 10:14Speaker 1: incentive hearings, are simply going to be accusations. And then
- 10:18Speaker 1: who's ever on the hot seat screaming right back?
- 10:21Speaker 2: I mean, I just say, they keep the octagon. Once
- 10:24Speaker 2: it's there on the South Lawn, they keep it. And
- 10:26Speaker 2: that's where we'll hold these congressional sessions.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Okay, one more and then we'll take our break.
- 10:32Speaker 5: You got it.
- 10:32Speaker 2: US air traffic control, as you heard Bill just saying,
- 10:37Speaker 2: highly problematic during the governmental shut down, you now have.
- 10:42Speaker 5: More than three.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Thousand flights being delayed. And these are widening number of airports.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You've got Houston, Nashville, Dallas, Chicago, O'Hare, newer, these are
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know, we had our very own Hollywood Bob Hope
- 10:57Speaker 2: Urbank Airport, and this is going to be one of
- 11:03Speaker 2: the impacts we're going to see. Even though you know
- 11:06Speaker 2: there's a lot more going on, these are ones that
- 11:08Speaker 2: we can see immediately.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Well, yesterday was that for six hours there was no
- 11:12Speaker 1: one in the control tower because they didn't have staff.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I mean it was empty, and there was still control
- 11:20Speaker 1: There were still a quasi control tower out of San
- 11:22Speaker 1: Diego because there are some redundant systems. But you're going
- 11:25Speaker 1: to say, now they're starting to call in sick, and it's.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You're told you're not going to get paid, and it's
- 11:33Speaker 2: like one of the worst jobs in the world stress wise.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah, when you show up, you barely show up here. Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 3: isn't that.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, And and they don't give me back pay.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I get paid, you get paid.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You imagine you as an air traffic controller. It's like
- 11:51Speaker 2: you're coming back from microwaving your fintadas and there's three
- 11:54Speaker 2: planes crashing and.
- 11:56Speaker 5: I had to go to the bathroom.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much. So what's wrong with that you do
- 12:03Speaker 3: for Tata?
- 12:05Speaker 5: Why not?
- 12:05Speaker 3: If I'm putting a little bit, I would do it
- 12:07Speaker 3: in that tone of voice. Froz's not.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I don't do it in an apologetic tone of voice
- 12:12Speaker 1: and go, hey, I'm having a fortata.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You got the show's gotten in my way. Enough of that.
- 12:17Speaker 4: A whole lot of Latinos are living in the USA
- 12:20Speaker 4: for the first time in American history, one in five
- 12:23Speaker 4: people in the US identifies as Latino. The twenty twenty
- 12:27Speaker 4: four US Census Bureau shows that that was an increase
- 12:30Speaker 4: of two million persons compared to population estimates from twenty
- 12:34Speaker 4: twenty three, and altogether, researchers believe the Latino population in
- 12:38Speaker 4: the US is now over sixty eight MILLIONO.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The demographics, At what point I think they're on the
- 12:47Speaker 1: way to becoming the majority of Americans those that identify
- 12:52Speaker 1: as Latino. Is there any information on that, because I
- 12:56Speaker 1: think they're on the way to do that. I mean,
- 12:58Speaker 1: the population are of growth is very very well la
- 13:02Speaker 1: of course southern California. It's ridiculous in terms of the numbers,
- 13:05Speaker 1: but a lot of concentration here. But in general, I
- 13:08Speaker 1: think they're on their way to becoming the majority group
- 13:11Speaker 1: of people in.
- 13:11Speaker 3: The United States.
- 13:12Speaker 4: That information is not included in the census report.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Well there you go. Okay, moving on.
- 13:17Speaker 2: We do like the sexy time, and a lot of
- 13:19Speaker 2: us are Catholics, so no condoms AnyWho.
- 13:24Speaker 1: That's yeah, Well, I'm just saying, so you you practice
- 13:28Speaker 1: saying that you let two of us in.
- 13:30Speaker 5: One's a boy, one's a girl.
- 13:32Speaker 3: There's going to be a population bubble, not.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Necessarily, because if you're successful at practicing Vatican Roulette, then
- 13:39Speaker 1: you do well rhythm.
- 13:46Speaker 3: That's the rhythm method method.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's why God invented basil temperature thermometers.
- 13:54Speaker 3: And just look that up.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You know what, This is a perfect take away from
- 13:57Speaker 2: your mouth to trash fees going up, and.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yeah, why don't we do that?
- 14:00Speaker 1: Okay, that was not trash, by the way, that was
- 14:02Speaker 1: a legitimate Okay.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Moving on to Salialist City Council.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Just yesterday they were increasing the trash collection fees.
- 14:11Speaker 5: They voted on this.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It is going to go up to fifty five ninety
- 14:15Speaker 2: five a month per unit. But I mean, any hike sucks.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But it's been like seventeen years. These people bust their humps.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You ever see those drivers coming and dealing with our
- 14:30Speaker 2: refuse and yeah, they.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Don't get out of their trucks anymore.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Sometow they have those those automatic machines, those grippers that
- 14:38Speaker 1: the same company that makes those things at check that's
- 14:41Speaker 1: where you go and you grabble the toys, same company
- 14:44Speaker 1: that does that, just sideways and much bigger.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It's not this stupid stuff that we do. This is
- 14:49Speaker 2: uh no, but the money real work.
- 14:51Speaker 3: This is double in some cases. I mean, this is
- 14:53Speaker 3: a lot of money.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but this is what it comes down to.
- 14:57Speaker 2: First of all, the trash program has been subized big
- 15:01Speaker 2: time by LA to the tune of about half a
- 15:03Speaker 2: million dollars a day. Our budget is going spiraling out
- 15:07Speaker 2: of control, and we got to pay for it.
- 15:10Speaker 5: You know what's funny.
- 15:11Speaker 2: They talk about affordable housing, and nobody ever says about
- 15:16Speaker 2: property tax and the cost of utilities and everything. How
- 15:20Speaker 2: about those being affordable as well, because we're used.
- 15:23Speaker 1: To those that's already those are already baked in because
- 15:26Speaker 1: we know they're going up.
- 15:27Speaker 5: If they're going to go up, I don't mind that
- 15:29Speaker 5: it's the track, and.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I pay for my trash.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's a private trash collector because I mean, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: one of these gated communities, so the city doesn't touch it.
- 15:37Speaker 1: But we're charged per can, per bin, and if you
- 15:42Speaker 1: an extra bin, there's an extra twenty twenty five dollars
- 15:44Speaker 1: or whatever they charge you a month.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's really expensive. Some politics.
- 15:51Speaker 4: It comes Comy. Former FBI director James Comy is going
- 15:55Speaker 4: to be arraigned today. He'll fear appear before a federal
- 15:59Speaker 4: judge in l Lexandria, Virginia. The charges against him are
- 16:03Speaker 4: for providing false statements and obstructing a congressional proceeding. It
- 16:08Speaker 4: stems from Comy's congressional testimony back in twenty twenty, where
- 16:14Speaker 4: prosecutors claim he lied about his knowledge of a leak
- 16:17Speaker 4: of classified information that was later reported by several news outlets.
- 16:20Speaker 4: He had testified that, in his words, he had not
- 16:22Speaker 4: authorized someone else to be an anonymous source in news reports.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Actually that wasn't Comy that said that. That was the
- 16:30Speaker 4: prosecutors who said that. They said that statement was false.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to see from what I understand the
- 16:35Speaker 1: reporting is. It's pretty flimsy the accusation. I think it's
- 16:39Speaker 1: based on one person, a deputy of his, saying yes
- 16:42Speaker 1: he did know, and Comy says no, he didn't. Based
- 16:44Speaker 1: on that Comy's lying, and he's being brought in front
- 16:47Speaker 1: of a federal court.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Why would you even bring those charges if it's.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Flimsy, because it is a political trial. Because it doesn't matter.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Said earlier, it doesn't matter if you're weaponizing the Department
- 17:03Speaker 1: of Justice, any side that does that. So if you
- 17:07Speaker 1: throw something up, you know you're gonna lose and what
- 17:09Speaker 1: do you care because you've just broken that other person,
- 17:12Speaker 1: You've wiped out life savings because it has to be defended.
- 17:17Speaker 3: That's a win. That's also just dragging their name. I
- 17:23Speaker 3: don't you know what, I don't know.
- 17:24Speaker 1: It's a lot of people, uh, you know, would think
- 17:27Speaker 1: it's a badge of honor. And a lot of people
- 17:28Speaker 1: on Nixon's list, for example, his enemies list. You know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: the IRS went after people during Nixon days and it
- 17:34Speaker 1: was horrific. And if you've ever and they go through
- 17:37Speaker 1: it with a fine tooth comb, and they can make
- 17:38Speaker 1: your life so miserable. And it's just that the government
- 17:41Speaker 1: has the ability to do that when the government decides
- 17:43Speaker 1: that they're going to use their own governmental power to
- 17:46Speaker 1: go after people for political reasons. Uh, it's it's devastating
- 17:52Speaker 1: for those people. Not only is it it's it's it
- 17:54Speaker 1: tarnishes the administration. But you know, I mean call me.
- 18:00Speaker 1: They almost didn't get out of the grand jury. And
- 18:01Speaker 1: it's impossible not to get out of the grand juror
- 18:04Speaker 1: enough jurors said no, there's nothing here. They got it,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but it was close. Usually it's unanimous. Getting a grand
- 18:12Speaker 1: jury indictment is the easiest thing in the world. There
- 18:14Speaker 1: is no bar to it. No one defends you. You're
- 18:18Speaker 1: not in there. It's just the prosecutor goes, hey, this
- 18:21Speaker 1: is what we think we have. Okay, indictment. Almost half
- 18:25Speaker 1: of the grand jurors in this case said there's nothing there,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but they're going to go forward anyway.
- 18:30Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 18:30Speaker 1: There's probably gonna be a motion to dismiss and we'll
- 18:32Speaker 1: see what happens with that.
- 18:34Speaker 3: All right, we talked about this yesterday.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Trump cracked the door open about healthcare discussions, but then.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Shut it.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not talking, but now I'll talk, but only
- 18:48Speaker 1: if the Democrats cave big surprise. We'll see how far
- 18:52Speaker 1: this goes, because we're now into are we into our
- 18:55Speaker 1: second week already?
- 18:56Speaker 3: I think we are.
- 18:56Speaker 1: It's day eight, Yeah, second week of the shutdown, so
- 19:00Speaker 1: it's longer than most. A lot of shutdowns happened. You know,
- 19:02Speaker 1: they won two days and that's it, and so there
- 19:05Speaker 1: have been some two weeks shutdowns. The big one was
- 19:07Speaker 1: thirty five days during Trump's first term. Right now, the
- 19:11Speaker 1: Republicans are getting more blamed for this than the Democrats.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So politically speaking, this is not good news for the
- 19:17Speaker 1: Republicans because they get hit with blame. Interesting enough, they're
- 19:21Speaker 1: the ones that won the continuing Resolution. They're saying, hey,
- 19:24Speaker 1: just get the government going and then we'll talk about
- 19:27Speaker 1: everything else, and the Democrats are saying no, and the
- 19:30Speaker 1: Republicans getting blamed for it.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Earthquake news, Well.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I have one big quake when you could have two.
- 19:38Speaker 4: So there's a groundbreaking news study that was published recently
- 19:41Speaker 4: in the journal Geosphere, and it says that for thousands
- 19:46Speaker 4: of years, large earthquakes on the Cascadia Subduction Zone were
- 19:51Speaker 4: quickly followed by large earthquakes on the northern San Andreas Fault.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Of course, then San Andreas is in California. The Cascadia
- 19:59Speaker 4: Subduction is offshore. California is northern coast and runs up
- 20:03Speaker 4: a lot with Washington and Oregon and into British Columbia.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a huge story here.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I'm going to do this at seven o'clock because it's
- 20:10Speaker 1: something we probably didn't even know that we actually have
- 20:13Speaker 1: a series of Bogo faults in California.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Buy one, get one, all right, we can move on
- 20:27Speaker 3: if you want.
- 20:28Speaker 5: No, I'd like to sit in this awkwardness.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Aye, Hey, so you should you shouldn't you shouldn't you
- 20:38Speaker 2: should City of LA said it's going to appeal recent
- 20:43Speaker 2: court orders that says our a recent court order rather
- 20:46Speaker 2: that prevents the LAPD officers from targeting members of the
- 20:49Speaker 2: press with crowd control weapons. So I know this sounds
- 20:54Speaker 2: a little strange, but what you had.
- 20:56Speaker 3: What you had was.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Pushback during some of the Trump protests with using the
- 21:06Speaker 2: so called less than lethal rounds and things like that.
- 21:10Speaker 2: And now Los Angeles is looking at that saying, well,
- 21:14Speaker 2: they have to be able to do something for crowd control.
- 21:17Speaker 1: This is LA and the Department of Homeland Security together together,
- 21:23Speaker 1: they're taking the same side. Yeah, I'm saying, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 1: and true, how do you differentiate when you have a
- 21:29Speaker 1: crowd going? You have to use crowd control and all
- 21:31Speaker 1: of a sudden're supposed to see who is a reporter
- 21:33Speaker 1: who is.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Not a reporter.
- 21:34Speaker 2: And on top of that, bill it's not like the
- 21:37Speaker 2: old days when reporters were reporters. I mean, you have
- 21:41Speaker 2: they have all of their press IDs, You've got citizen journalisms,
- 21:45Speaker 2: you know, digital press, You've got all these different and
- 21:49Speaker 2: it's them. You can't recognize every you know, mic flag
- 21:54Speaker 2: in the same way.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Otherwise just people to come out with mic flags.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And there is no there is no legal definition of reporter.
- 22:01Speaker 1: There's no licensing.
- 22:02Speaker 2: You're a reporter, sure, so you gotta side with the cops.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Amy, you have a reporter's license, right, Okay.
- 22:13Speaker 5: What do you mean a reporter's license.
- 22:15Speaker 1: That's the whole point I'm making. There's a you can't
- 22:17Speaker 1: tell who a reporter is. To your point, everybody can
- 22:20Speaker 1: call themselves a reporter. There's no licensing, there is no
- 22:23Speaker 1: legal definition that.
- 22:25Speaker 3: If you are this, then you are that, then you
- 22:28Speaker 3: are a reporter. No one knows.
- 22:29Speaker 4: You can be like recognized by official agencies.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but what official agency? The AP?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Well, how about the National Association of the Digital Reporters
- 22:42Speaker 1: that you just create? Well, no law enforcement, law enforcement,
- 22:46Speaker 1: I understand, Yeah, launch understood. Right in the meantime, absolutely,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and you can go into places where the public is
- 22:54Speaker 1: not allowed to go, absolutely in the meantime in order
- 22:57Speaker 1: this story about telling who is a reporter who isn't.
- 22:59Speaker 1: So you have that little name tag thing, a little lanyard,
- 23:03Speaker 1: and you've got a crowd going crazy in front of you. Well,
- 23:07Speaker 1: and the sea and the Homeland Security are right, how
- 23:09Speaker 1: do you tell so We're going to use the same
- 23:14Speaker 1: the same force, and we just if they get caught
- 23:15Speaker 1: up in the if you get basically caught in the
- 23:19Speaker 1: same net, there's not much we can do now. The
- 23:21Speaker 1: issue of them using artillery to stop the demonstrations, that's
- 23:26Speaker 1: a different issue at some point.
- 23:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Moving on, chicken for every pot and a refrigerator for
- 23:32Speaker 4: every apartment. Governor Newsom has signed Assembly Bill six twenty
- 23:38Speaker 4: eight into law that requires the landlords to have refrigerators
- 23:43Speaker 4: and a working stove in their rentals. Apparently you don't
- 23:47Speaker 4: have to have that now. I do remember that when
- 23:49Speaker 4: I first moved here, going to apartments and going where's
- 23:51Speaker 4: the fridge? And they didn't have to supply them. But
- 23:53Speaker 4: that's changed.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Isn't that weird? I mean, you think about this.
- 23:55Speaker 1: People moving in apartments and have less money obviously than
- 23:59Speaker 1: people that are blind homes. And you go from an
- 24:01Speaker 1: apartment to an apartment, do you bring your own refrigerator
- 24:04Speaker 1: with you? It's I mean, it makes it makes no
- 24:07Speaker 1: sense not to have that, and it's I view this
- 24:10Speaker 1: as a loophole. I mean, if you're renting an apartment,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you have to produce a fridge and a stove.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Can you? How can you not?
- 24:16Speaker 1: But the loss is heating hot and cold water is
- 24:20Speaker 1: basically it weather proofing, and that's it. They don't have
- 24:23Speaker 1: to give you. I don't even know if they have
- 24:25Speaker 1: to give you a stove at this point.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Well they do starting on January first, twenty ten, which is.
- 24:30Speaker 3: And a refrigerator.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I've never gone into a place didn't have a stove,
- 24:35Speaker 2: but I haven't gone into them without refrigerators.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, I think practically speaking, but I don't
- 24:42Speaker 1: know if the stove is required under law, it certainly,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I have no idea. But refrigerators. People don't take refrigerators
- 24:47Speaker 1: with them. Of fact, most rentals, most rentals have washer dryers.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Now you know, that's just part and parcel of it. Also,
- 24:57Speaker 1: people put it in and they leave, and you know
- 24:59Speaker 1: not how many people take washer dryers and refrigerators with them.
- 25:02Speaker 3: It's a pain. It's not easy, all right.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Santa Catalina Island, if you remember they dealt with this,
- 25:09Speaker 2: I don't know last year or year before.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Something.
- 25:12Speaker 2: The mule deer they're back and they're problematic. You've got
- 25:16Speaker 2: like over I don't know, twenty one hundred of these deer.
- 25:19Speaker 2: They are not indigenous, so they cause problems and they
- 25:26Speaker 2: need to get rid of them. And if you remember,
- 25:28Speaker 2: people freaked out that they were killing them by rifles
- 25:31Speaker 2: or whatever from how about airborne from helicopters? And now
- 25:37Speaker 2: they said, okay, well we've got to still do it,
- 25:39Speaker 2: so we'll do it from professional contractors that would shoot
- 25:42Speaker 2: them on the ground.
- 25:44Speaker 3: What difference does it make.
- 25:45Speaker 5: That's the whole point to me.
- 25:47Speaker 3: We're going to kill them.
- 25:48Speaker 1: We're going to kill them, and they're eating and it
- 25:50Speaker 1: makes sense to get rid of them because they're eating
- 25:52Speaker 1: native plant that native yeah, which causes what well, what
- 25:58Speaker 1: ends up happening is they're invasive plants that that they're
- 26:03Speaker 1: eating the natural plants that are indigenous and then and
- 26:06Speaker 1: then the non native plants come in take over those
- 26:09Speaker 1: burn up. I mean, it's horrible. So you kill the deer.
- 26:11Speaker 1: By the way, deer are really just big rats. You
- 26:14Speaker 1: know that they eat everything. I had them in my
- 26:18Speaker 1: backyard and you couldn't kill them, and you couldn't.
- 26:22Speaker 3: It was horrible.
- 26:22Speaker 1: So anyways, they're gonna get rid of them, and they should,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and then you have, oh.
- 26:27Speaker 2: It actually protect protect them from wildfires because or protect
- 26:32Speaker 2: the island from wildfires, which is because again.
- 26:35Speaker 1: You've got you've got the non native, the invasive plant
- 26:39Speaker 1: life coming in and taking over, and the plant life
- 26:42Speaker 1: and non native stuff burns very quickly and easily.
- 26:45Speaker 3: And that's exactly it. Amy. You were going to say,
- 26:47Speaker 3: what are.
- 26:48Speaker 4: They going to do with all these dead deer?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Are theynison? Well?
- 26:51Speaker 4: Are they going to use it? Or are they going to
- 26:53Speaker 4: throw them away? Because I think that two thousand dead
- 26:56Speaker 4: deer could go and help feed a lot of animals, news,
- 27:00Speaker 4: it could go to feed people, fertilizer, It could be
- 27:03Speaker 4: done for a lot of things. If they're just going
- 27:05Speaker 4: to discard them, I'm totally against it. I think that good.
- 27:09Speaker 3: How do they use it? How do they use it?
- 27:11Speaker 3: You know you have to.
- 27:12Speaker 1: You just can't take a pile of dead deer and
- 27:14Speaker 1: then throw them someplace and they go here, you take
- 27:16Speaker 1: care of them in a slaughterhouse. I mean, it's all
- 27:19Speaker 1: regulated that. No, under the law, you couldn't, Amy, You
- 27:22Speaker 1: really couldn't.
- 27:24Speaker 3: You.
- 27:25Speaker 5: You could take them.
- 27:25Speaker 4: To the Alpine Zoo and Big Bear. They have all
- 27:28Speaker 4: kinds of what are they going to do with that?
- 27:30Speaker 3: What are they going to do with two thousand dead deer?
- 27:32Speaker 4: They could stacks.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Deer at the Alpine Zoo. I'd go see it. I'd
- 27:37Speaker 3: like to see a stack of two thousand dead deer.
- 27:38Speaker 3: I pay money for that.
- 27:41Speaker 4: I just think throwing them away is wasteful.
- 27:45Speaker 3: It is, but you still have no choice, at least
- 27:48Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Oh, here's some news, good news from the Amy Neils
- 27:54Speaker 1: School of Disney.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Oh, the spendiest place on Earth. Not really well doesny
- 28:00Speaker 4: World and Disneyland are going to be raising prices on
- 28:04Speaker 4: various tickets and annual prices effective annual passes, effective immediately.
- 28:12Speaker 4: But it's not raising prices on absolutely everything. So if
- 28:16Speaker 4: you go on non peak days, you can still get
- 28:18Speaker 4: the tickets for the same price, But the peak days
- 28:21Speaker 4: and passes are what's going up.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so early November, early December, in the middle of
- 28:26Speaker 1: a snowstorm, you'll probably get pretty decent prices.
- 28:29Speaker 5: But why would you want to go on the peak
- 28:31Speaker 5: day anyways.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I don't understand that. Yeah, I don't understand that at all. Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: I've shared this story. I've shared this story with you
- 28:38Speaker 1: before when I was a lot younger, in my twenties, thirties,
- 28:42Speaker 1: maybe March February, March midweek, going to the park. There
- 28:47Speaker 1: are five thousand people in the park. You wouldn't wait
- 28:49Speaker 1: for anything.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I was in the park yesterday and it was nothing.
- 28:53Speaker 2: It was the easy peas of getting around everywhere, all right,
- 28:58Speaker 2: Dolly part and sister speaking out free to Parton, pardon
- 29:03Speaker 2: you know a lot of people may or may not
- 29:05Speaker 2: know this, but she's got eleven total siblings. Man, that's all.
- 29:10Speaker 2: That's that's bigger than a small Mexican family. So she's
- 29:14Speaker 2: got her sister. Free to Parton, who said, pray for
- 29:18Speaker 2: her sister. She's up all night praying for her. Dolly
- 29:22Speaker 2: has some unknown ailment right now that made her postpone
- 29:26Speaker 2: her upcoming Las Vegas residency.
- 29:28Speaker 3: That is not a good sign.
- 29:30Speaker 5: She's seventy nine years old.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That's not a good sign. That we don't know what
- 29:35Speaker 1: she has. We know that she is, we don't know
- 29:39Speaker 1: where she is. And her sister says, pray for her.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And I'll tell you when when Dolly Parton dies, which
- 29:47Speaker 1: of course you will at some point, hopefully not soon.
- 29:51Speaker 1: It's that's going to be a loss where she is.
- 29:53Speaker 1: She is a national she is a national treasure.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I've seen her speak before and she's very powerful and compelling,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and she seems very lovely and kind. But she even
- 30:07Speaker 2: joked about it. She said that she had several procedures
- 30:10Speaker 2: needing to be done, and she joked they were all
- 30:12Speaker 2: part of her one hundred thousand mile checkup.
- 30:15Speaker 5: So she's in good spirits.
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's very funny. She's very self deprecating. She's brilliant songwriter
- 30:21Speaker 1: and performer, and everybody loves her.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I love her line about you know it costs a
- 30:25Speaker 2: lot of money to look this cheap.
- 30:28Speaker 5: It is a great line.
- 30:29Speaker 3: How do you beat that? You really don't.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Okay, we're done, guys, this is KFI AM sixty.
- 30:35Speaker 3: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
