- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Now a friend of the show is out here with us.
- 0:09Speaker 3: I'm really pumped the golf today with you to hang out.
- 0:14Speaker 3: We know this last twelve months justin we've been able
- 0:17Speaker 3: to kind of travel around a little bit together.
- 0:19Speaker 2: We have. It's been fun.
- 0:21Speaker 3: I h some of you know, not every trip is
- 0:25Speaker 3: enjoyable because sometimes I'm running around like crazy. But I
- 0:29Speaker 3: think every trip that I've been on with you, we've
- 0:31Speaker 3: had some good moments. And especially I think when I
- 0:34Speaker 3: look at Carmel, it was a trip that I actually
- 0:36Speaker 3: really enjoyed being on.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I did as well, Yeah, it was Uh. I don't know.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I like that you guys do these because, like you
- 0:42Speaker 4: said last night, you know, obviously it's it's fun to
- 0:45Speaker 4: do the podcast and stuff like that, but it's it's
- 0:47Speaker 4: fun to spend time with people that you otherwise wouldn't
- 0:49Speaker 4: get to be around too much, just because geographically we're
- 0:52Speaker 4: all over the place, we're all so busy. So I
- 0:54Speaker 4: appreciate you guys putting these together so we uh get
- 0:57Speaker 4: a little bonding in.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So it was a good time.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And it's it's interesting that you say it because I
- 1:01Speaker 3: think when you first get off the show, it's almost
- 1:04Speaker 3: like feels like one more thing to do, mm hmm.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Because and typically when you first get off of and
- 1:10Speaker 3: this is just something I've noticed over the years, the
- 1:12Speaker 3: Bachelor or the Bachelorette, Like your friends are very tight.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Everybody's hanging out all the time. You know, you're doing
- 1:18Speaker 3: the events together. Give it four years, five years, not
- 1:22Speaker 3: that the friendships have changed, but lives have changed and
- 1:25Speaker 3: you don't get around those people like you used to.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And I'm hoping like that's kind of the group when
- 1:30Speaker 3: we do, you know, bring people together that can come
- 1:32Speaker 3: back together at these things because you know what, like
- 1:36Speaker 3: you said, life moves on fast before you know, it's
- 1:38Speaker 3: been a year, two years since you've seen some of
- 1:40Speaker 3: these people.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think it's actually interesting when you look
- 1:42Speaker 4: at those relationships because when you first come off the show,
- 1:44Speaker 4: it's like so fresh, and you guys have that shared
- 1:47Speaker 4: bond and experience, right, and then over time as your
- 1:50Speaker 4: life's move on, I think that that actually shows the
- 1:54Speaker 4: real relationships, right because it's like, you know, the guys
- 1:57Speaker 4: that I hang out with still, it's like now it's
- 1:58Speaker 4: not just a convenience as a choice to hang out
- 2:00Speaker 4: with those people, right, And even though we don't, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 4: it's like you choose who you want to be around, right, So,
- 2:06Speaker 4: even the people that you only see a couple times
- 2:08Speaker 4: a year, it's like you guys are choosing the people
- 2:10Speaker 4: that are good company that you want to keep fostering
- 2:12Speaker 4: those relationships with, which I think is pretty cool.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Well, it's it's been a lot of fun. And I
- 2:17Speaker 3: know life for you. So you're living in La. I
- 2:20Speaker 3: am any big updates outside of romance that we'll talk
- 2:25Speaker 3: about a bit, but like any big life updates for
- 2:28Speaker 3: you in La. I've been watching your social media. I
- 2:32Speaker 3: actually kind of I saw you do an ad with
- 2:35Speaker 3: a car the other day and I kind of copied
- 2:38Speaker 3: it because I thought it was so good. Yeah, I
- 2:40Speaker 3: showed the person that was helping me out with it.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I said, look at this, this is like, this is
- 2:44Speaker 3: what I need to get to someday. This guy that's
- 2:46Speaker 3: so funny. It's about the one that I just did.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, no, I mean it's been it's been amazing.
- 2:52Speaker 4: And I'm super grateful, unfortunate for a lot of the
- 2:56Speaker 4: opportunities that LA has presented me with. And I'm glad
- 2:59Speaker 4: that I did kind of take myself out of my
- 3:02Speaker 4: comfort zone of Baltimore.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And make that move.
- 3:07Speaker 4: You know, you just you just get exposed to so
- 3:09Speaker 4: many different things that you don't get in other places. Right,
- 3:14Speaker 4: Like I love Baltimore. It's it's home. It's where my
- 3:17Speaker 4: close friends and family are. But I mean to your
- 3:19Speaker 4: point of the car stuff, right, Like, whenever I do
- 3:21Speaker 4: these ads, like I don't know, I always try to
- 3:23Speaker 4: think outside the box and get creative and I really
- 3:26Speaker 4: love like the storytelling aspect of it, and just I
- 3:30Speaker 4: don't know, like scenery, prop wise all that stuff, like
- 3:32Speaker 4: you just don't get it in Baltimore.
- 3:33Speaker 2: You're gonna be in LA.
- 3:34Speaker 4: It's just like You've got so many talented videographers and
- 3:37Speaker 4: creative minds that it really helps me to you know,
- 3:41Speaker 4: kind of pouring what into what I love to do.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You're it's it is.
- 3:45Speaker 3: And I don't just say this to like, you know,
- 3:48Speaker 3: pump you up. You're really good at it. And so
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'm curious and I don't know how to ask this
- 3:52Speaker 3: question without I'm making it sound like you're not doing
- 3:54Speaker 3: enough now, because you are and it's impressive and it's great,
- 3:57Speaker 3: But like is this something let's say ten years from that. Right,
- 4:00Speaker 3: maybe you aren't getting the deals that you're getting today,
- 4:07Speaker 3: but you've you've you have such a talent and you've
- 4:11Speaker 3: built such a name for yourself. Would this be something
- 4:13Speaker 3: you'd want to continue just in another way? Yeah, it's
- 4:16Speaker 3: a great question.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I mean, I definitely my plan is to not be
- 4:19Speaker 4: doing this ten years from to be clear, like you don't,
- 4:23Speaker 4: Oh my god, No, I have a lot of other
- 4:25Speaker 4: stuff in the works that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Oh you always have.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so this is just like fun stuff right now.
- 4:31Speaker 4: I'm always thinking three steps ahead. Been But you know,
- 4:34Speaker 4: it's funny, that's very timely for you to ask, because
- 4:37Speaker 4: I have been having conversations recently with several people about
- 4:41Speaker 4: just the idea of creative direction in general. And I've
- 4:45Speaker 4: been reached out to, you know, from some agencies that
- 4:48Speaker 4: are like, hey, we love like the skits and ads
- 4:51Speaker 4: and all that, like the way you go about doing them,
- 4:53Speaker 4: Like is this something you'd be interested in kind of
- 4:56Speaker 4: working with us on and you know, we have people
- 4:59Speaker 4: come to us and then you can help copyright or
- 5:02Speaker 4: do those sorts of things come up with scripts and
- 5:04Speaker 4: creative ideas. I mean, I was literally just at a
- 5:08Speaker 4: Bruno Mars concert with a brand and they had built
- 5:11Speaker 4: out some new lounges in the into It dome and
- 5:17Speaker 4: and they're like, hey, like, could you help us, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 4: come up with a creative direction for how we helped
- 5:23Speaker 4: to amplify the design of these lounges for the certain
- 5:26Speaker 4: liquor brands and stuff like that. Right, So, just that
- 5:28Speaker 4: whole idea of creative direction, whether that is with you know,
- 5:33Speaker 4: social media stuff or interior design or whatever it may be.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I think that that's something that I could see myself
- 5:39Speaker 4: doing down the line.
- 5:41Speaker 2: But we'll see. That's I mean, I would I need that.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why. That's why I look on your social
- 5:47Speaker 3: media to see what you've posted so I can copy you.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I appreciate it. It's always so good. Now.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think a year ago when we were together, this
- 6:07Speaker 3: not in Carmel, because I don't know if I have nastis,
- 6:09Speaker 3: you were working a full time job.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Still in finance, in finance. Are you no longer doing that? Correct? Okay? Yeah? Yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 2: when did you make that switch? Oh? Was I still
- 6:22Speaker 2: working in karma? Actually in finance.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Actually it may have been a little bit before that.
- 6:28Speaker 4: So shortly after moving to LA. Actually, I made that
- 6:33Speaker 4: decision because, you know, working, I was working so much.
- 6:39Speaker 4: You know, I was working in institutional investment sales and
- 6:41Speaker 4: then I was working for a fintech startup, and it
- 6:43Speaker 4: was just both very very demanding jobs, and so I
- 6:47Speaker 4: was trying to balance that with.
- 6:49Speaker 2: The social media stuff.
- 6:50Speaker 4: And you know, I've always kind of been a right brain,
- 6:53Speaker 4: left brain kind of guy. And you know, the finance
- 6:56Speaker 4: stuff was really good at it, really good at my job,
- 6:58Speaker 4: but my passion eyes in the creative side of things,
- 7:02Speaker 4: and so I wasn't able to do both to my
- 7:05Speaker 4: fullest potential. And so you know, there were weeks where
- 7:08Speaker 4: I would lean in on the finance and then the
- 7:10Speaker 4: social media was sacrificing being sacrificed, right, and then vice versa.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I would lean in on the social and my job,
- 7:15Speaker 4: you know, was kind of on the back burner, which
- 7:17Speaker 4: you know, either one is an ideal scenario.
- 7:19Speaker 2: So I had to just knowing some other things that
- 7:22Speaker 2: I had.
- 7:23Speaker 4: In the works of what I wanted to do with
- 7:24Speaker 4: my life and what I wanted to build for myself,
- 7:27Speaker 4: I made the decision to remove myself from the nine
- 7:31Speaker 4: to five and focus and double down on me and
- 7:34Speaker 4: my creative and I mean it has paid dividends again
- 7:38Speaker 4: not go on wood, very fortunate, but it has allowed
- 7:40Speaker 4: me the space to not only explore my creativity, but
- 7:45Speaker 4: also has allowed me the space to you know, build
- 7:47Speaker 4: something for myself outside of the social media stuff, which
- 7:51Speaker 4: is really exciting.
- 7:52Speaker 2: It is hard to do both too.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, for a period of my life, I
- 7:57Speaker 3: was in finance actually, and you know, coming off of
- 7:59Speaker 3: the show being the Bachelor, two years in finance after that,
- 8:02Speaker 3: and then it kind of I kind of hit that
- 8:04Speaker 3: point where I said, I have to make this decision.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Either I'm going to stay in this and choose this
- 8:08Speaker 3: you know world, or come and kind of separate myself
- 8:11Speaker 3: because it's.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Hard to manage both. Yeah, you know, obviously.
- 8:16Speaker 3: And and just on these trips, and I mean obviously
- 8:21Speaker 3: just through social media. You know, you had a very
- 8:23Speaker 3: public relationship. I think a lot of people are curious
- 8:28Speaker 3: where that stands. And I only asked this for to
- 8:32Speaker 3: you because I think people were so much celebrate you
- 8:37Speaker 3: and Susie. But there is this kind of unknown right now.
- 8:42Speaker 3: So anything that you feel comfortable or anything that you
- 8:46Speaker 3: mind sharing about kind of where the status your relationship.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Is yeah, And I mean I understand, you know, people
- 8:53Speaker 4: are confused and want to know, and I totally respect that.
- 8:57Speaker 4: You know, even prior to Susie and I dating, you know,
- 9:01Speaker 4: we are always on the same page about where we're
- 9:04Speaker 4: at and prioritizing each other in our relationship. And it's
- 9:07Speaker 4: funny because you are in this public relationship, right, but
- 9:10Speaker 4: I think people lose sight of the fact that we
- 9:13Speaker 4: still want to be private when we can, right, And
- 9:15Speaker 4: I understand that people, you know, I feel like they're
- 9:18Speaker 4: owed something because you know, we do put our relationship,
- 9:22Speaker 4: you know, on social media and stuff like that. But
- 9:24Speaker 4: we are people at the end of the day, and
- 9:26Speaker 4: this stuff is hard, right, So it's not you know,
- 9:29Speaker 4: it's not easy. But now Susie and I were not
- 9:32Speaker 4: together and we are, you know, doing our best to
- 9:36Speaker 4: kind of, like I said, protect each other and keep
- 9:39Speaker 4: things private, you know, as we try to navigate what
- 9:42Speaker 4: this looks like for us. So it has not been easy.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I mean, we still have a ton of love for
- 9:48Speaker 4: each other.
- 9:49Speaker 2: We you know, we're on great terms.
- 9:50Speaker 4: We still we still talk and are in communication and
- 9:54Speaker 4: like I said, still prioritizing each other, ourselves, our relationship,
- 9:59Speaker 4: and and yeah, I.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Don't want to dive too deep in this because I
- 10:03Speaker 3: do want to respect that and having a public relationship
- 10:08Speaker 3: is difficult. As you said, there is a balance. You
- 10:14Speaker 3: two aren't together at this point. So now looking back
- 10:19Speaker 3: at that relationship and looking at maybe what the future
- 10:21Speaker 3: of that relationship looks like, what have you learned about
- 10:25Speaker 3: having a public relationship, Like would you enter back into
- 10:28Speaker 3: one again? Is there things you would have done differently?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Does it now feel like there's too much pressure on
- 10:34Speaker 3: you to give the masses more information than what you're
- 10:38Speaker 3: comfortable with.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I mean, honestly no, right, Like we.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I mean, it was my first time navigating a public relationship,
- 10:48Speaker 4: and I think that I have the ability to kind
- 10:52Speaker 4: of block out, like I don't succumb to any pressures
- 10:55Speaker 4: of giving anyone anything that I don't want to give
- 10:58Speaker 4: when it comes to my private life.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Right, there's comments all the time like what happened? What happened?
- 11:02Speaker 4: You have to tell us like no I don't and
- 11:05Speaker 4: no she doesn't. Right, So that doesn't really affect me.
- 11:11Speaker 4: I don't know that there's anything that I would do
- 11:14Speaker 4: differently in terms of navigating it publicly. I mean, I'm
- 11:19Speaker 4: very fortunate to have someone like Susie in my life, right,
- 11:23Speaker 4: and like we are always on the same page about
- 11:25Speaker 4: our relationship, right, So when this first happened, we decided, like, hey,
- 11:29Speaker 4: we're not going to make some joint post, right, We're
- 11:32Speaker 4: going to figure this out together.
- 11:34Speaker 2: We're going to keep it private, you know.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I'm sure people will catch on eventually, and then you know,
- 11:39Speaker 4: when we're ready to talk about it, that's what we'll do.
- 11:41Speaker 4: And we were on the same page about when we
- 11:43Speaker 4: would want to talk about it, you know, and how
- 11:45Speaker 4: we want to go about navigating all this. So I'm
- 11:48Speaker 4: just very fortunate to be at the place that we
- 11:51Speaker 4: are at right now. What I do it again, I mean,
- 11:57Speaker 4: I don't want to put any limits on myself and
- 11:59Speaker 4: say yes or no, like you never know what the
- 12:01Speaker 4: future holds, so.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Man, I don't know. We'll say.
- 12:05Speaker 3: One of the things when I had my public breakup
- 12:08Speaker 3: that was so hard was the comments like we're like
- 12:14Speaker 3: little stabs, like every time you see it, like it
- 12:17Speaker 3: reminds you like most of the time in life you
- 12:20Speaker 3: have a relationship, you break up, you do your best
- 12:23Speaker 3: to like separate however you need to do it, you know,
- 12:26Speaker 3: but when it's public, you do get the comments, you do,
- 12:29Speaker 3: get the pictures, you do, get the questions. How like
- 12:33Speaker 3: you just talked about, you know that you're going to
- 12:36Speaker 3: kind of do what you feel like is best, but
- 12:38Speaker 3: how do you emotionally manage that that? Like being reminded
- 12:42Speaker 3: of it consistently?
- 12:44Speaker 4: It's tough because you know, like I'll post something and
- 12:46Speaker 4: then it's like, oh, like where is she?
- 12:48Speaker 2: We miss you guys's content together, like what happened? What happened?
- 12:51Speaker 4: It's just like, I mean, I ignore them, but it's like,
- 12:55Speaker 4: you know, my mom sees them, so she'll call me
- 12:57Speaker 4: and be like, hey, are you okay? And I'm like,
- 12:59Speaker 4: I'm trying to you know what I mean, But it's
- 13:01Speaker 4: like you just like this constant reminder and I don't
- 13:04Speaker 4: respond to a single one of them. Unfortunately, there are
- 13:07Speaker 4: people out there I have to remind myself like, and
- 13:11Speaker 4: I don't want to degrade anyone or speak poorly, but
- 13:15Speaker 4: like the people that care that much about somebody else's relationship,
- 13:18Speaker 4: like I mean, I let them be right.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And there are people that have some sense that'll come back.
- 13:22Speaker 4: And just be like, hey, let them handle how they
- 13:25Speaker 4: want to handle it. And I see those in the
- 13:26Speaker 4: comments as one, I'm like, thank you, you know what
- 13:28Speaker 4: I mean. So again I get it because it was
- 13:31Speaker 4: a public relationship, but I don't know, it's just it
- 13:35Speaker 4: is tough having that concert reminder. But it comes with
- 13:37Speaker 4: the territory, right, so it's like you just got to
- 13:38Speaker 4: deal with it and keep pushing.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it does. It was hard for me, it was really,
- 13:44Speaker 3: I mean, and I think you just nailed it. I
- 13:45Speaker 3: didn't even think about it that way. But the hardest
- 13:47Speaker 3: part was the family, like the mom, yeah, dad, because
- 13:51Speaker 3: they see it and for them, you know, they don't
- 13:53Speaker 3: necessarily have the callouses built over time to be like no,
- 13:57Speaker 3: I'm good, like I've learned how to push this aside
- 14:00Speaker 3: and you know, move forward. But for them there's still
- 14:04Speaker 3: they still care one about you. And then too, they
- 14:06Speaker 3: don't have the calluses built in life, so they just
- 14:09Speaker 3: see this like any other situation, be like I'm worried
- 14:11Speaker 3: about my son.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, And I mean, unfortunately there hasn't been too
- 14:17Speaker 4: too much of it. But I think a lot of
- 14:19Speaker 4: times in public relationships, people think like, oh, who did
- 14:23Speaker 4: something wrong?
- 14:23Speaker 2: What happened right?
- 14:24Speaker 4: And it's like it doesn't have to be that way,
- 14:25Speaker 4: Like there has doesn't have to be a good guy
- 14:27Speaker 4: and a bad guy, right, and so some of the
- 14:29Speaker 4: comments kind of lean towards that, and it's again like
- 14:32Speaker 4: I don't care, Like I like, I know.
- 14:34Speaker 2: What's like, I know what's up. Susie knows what's up,
- 14:36Speaker 2: and like that's all that matters.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Like we're good, right, And again like it's more so
- 14:40Speaker 4: like the family my mom. It's just like I'm her son,
- 14:42Speaker 4: so of course she's gonna be super protective. And it's
- 14:44Speaker 4: just I'm like, mom, stay out the comments.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Like but she can't.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I can, and you're not alone, and that we all
- 14:52Speaker 3: have those people and we got to love them because
- 14:54Speaker 3: they do care, I know. I mean, I think to
- 14:57Speaker 3: sum this all up, the question that does matter, and
- 14:59Speaker 3: I think the question that people should be asking, and
- 15:02Speaker 3: I think it's probably the question they want to ask,
- 15:04Speaker 3: they're just not knowing how to do it well, is
- 15:07Speaker 3: like how are you as a human and as a person,
- 15:12Speaker 3: how are you doing.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It?
- 15:23Speaker 2: It's really tough man, Uh sorry, sorta good. I think.
- 15:40Speaker 3: You're a good man, and I appreciate you being out here.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I hope it's a lot of fun today. And when
- 15:48Speaker 3: you're ready to answer that question, I can't wait to
- 15:51Speaker 3: have you back here.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Appreciate you.
