- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you. Always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Alright, it's time. Hello and welcome back to another episode
- 0:23Speaker 2: of Star Wars Alliance. Of course, I'm your host Clay
- 0:26Speaker 2: and with me Like, every single week, of course, is Katie. Katie,
- 0:31Speaker 2: how are you doing today?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little better than it was last week. So.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I, like, you just said before we jumped on the
- 0:43Speaker 2: air that you had a kind of a hectic day,
- 0:45Speaker 2: and so did I. Guys, Katie already has to deal
- 0:50Speaker 2: with this, and so I have to share. If you
- 0:54Speaker 2: haven't already noticed, if you are a frequent listener... I
- 0:57Speaker 2: am a very heavy procrastinator, and that is because I
- 1:02Speaker 2: have ADHD. It's 100% the reason. And I will tell
- 1:07Speaker 2: you this. If you need to go to the DMV
- 1:16Speaker 2: to get your license changed, renewed, or whatnot, do not
- 1:23Speaker 2: wait until the last minute. Guys, I am dangerously close
- 1:29Speaker 2: to not being able to vote next month because of this.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I am literally doing it on the day. I'm forced
- 1:40Speaker 2: to now do it on the day that is like, hey,
- 1:43Speaker 2: if this isn't done by X amount of hours on
- 1:47Speaker 2: this day, you will not be able to vote this year.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And that is because we waited so long And I
- 1:55Speaker 2: say so long. We've been back for three months, right? Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Three-ish months. And... Having changed your licenses? When we went
- 2:09Speaker 2: there today, we got half of the documents that we
- 2:14Speaker 2: had in hand. We were like, oh, we can't just
- 2:18Speaker 2: use digital of these? And they're like, actually... It all depends,
- 2:24Speaker 2: because you guys did say that you lived in Texas before, right?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I was like, yes, exactly. We lived in Texas before,
- 2:30Speaker 2: so you have all of our stuff on file. And
- 2:32Speaker 2: they're like, okay, what's your name? Oh, well, actually, give
- 2:34Speaker 2: me your licenses, blah, blah, blah. They looked it all up,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and they're like, oh, Mr. Hinojosa, we actually have bad
- 2:40Speaker 2: news for you. And I was like, oh, great. I
- 2:43Speaker 2: was like, what's the bad news? And they're like, oh, well,
- 2:47Speaker 2: your entire record was deleted completely. And you need to
- 2:52Speaker 2: basically act like you're getting new of everything. And I'm like, what?
- 2:58Speaker 2: And they're like, yeah, so.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You have to retake your test and everything?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Not retake the test, but essentially because my original Texas license,
- 3:09Speaker 2: because again, I moved to Indiana. We had to get
- 3:11Speaker 2: Indiana licenses. We had to get Indiana license plates for
- 3:16Speaker 2: our car. Mm-hmm. My original Texas license, I remember, expired
- 3:26Speaker 2: on my birthday in 2025. But I had it renewed
- 3:32Speaker 2: before then, in 2024. But the record still shows here
- 3:40Speaker 2: in Texas that that old license expires January 7th, 2025.
- 3:44Speaker 2: That has already passed. And so much time has passed
- 3:52Speaker 2: since that expiration date where Texas was like, oh, delete.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And I'm like, that's almost asinine. Like, that is a
- 4:04Speaker 2: public record of a living individual. And you're just going
- 4:09Speaker 2: to delete everything? Like, that's so messed up.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Texas be Texas.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Texas definitely be Texas. Um, so now we have to
- 4:24Speaker 2: get all of our ducks in a row tomorrow and
- 4:28Speaker 2: Friday and then go back on Monday, the fifth, which
- 4:32Speaker 2: is the last day to get registered in order to
- 4:37Speaker 2: vote and hope that like, Hey, everything is in order.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And we are good to go. Otherwise, we are unable
- 4:47Speaker 2: to vote this year. And I was like, God dang it.
- 4:53Speaker 2: If we would have just done all of this the
- 4:58Speaker 2: very next week that we had gotten here, like we
- 5:01Speaker 2: had thought of, because it came up. The conversation came up,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and I was like, we can wait. It'll be fine.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And then life got ahead of us. And then boom,
- 5:12Speaker 2: now we're here. Crap. But yeah, that's my life. And
- 5:17Speaker 2: so I will always say, if you are somebody with ADHD,
- 5:24Speaker 2: it's called body doubling. Have a body double with very
- 5:30Speaker 2: important tasks that you need to do, like registering and
- 5:34Speaker 2: all of that stuff. But Katie, we actually have not
- 5:40Speaker 2: only just this comic review. Surprisingly, we have some news
- 5:44Speaker 2: to talk about. And I still haven't gotten your reaction
- 5:49Speaker 2: to it. We're going to talk about this. I'm interested
- 5:53Speaker 2: to see what you have to say about it, because
- 5:56Speaker 2: my God, do people have stuff to say about this?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Including me. And I think, surprisingly, it's not a hot take,
- 6:08Speaker 2: but for some reason... because of the state of the
- 6:12Speaker 2: world it is a hot take it's really it's really
- 6:14Speaker 2: weird it's really dumb but we'll talk about it um
- 6:18Speaker 2: guys we are going to be talking about of course
- 6:22Speaker 2: the new star wars director that being john watts.
- 6:30Speaker 3: For supposedly star wars episode 10.
- 6:35Speaker 2: For is it is it just.
- 6:36Speaker 3: 10 That's all it says.
- 6:40Speaker 1: That's right.
- 6:40Speaker 2: That's right. So, so it is, it's just 10, but
- 6:45Speaker 2: from reports that we had seen previous to this, when
- 6:48Speaker 2: they were just outlining everything, when they were preparing this trilogy,
- 6:53Speaker 2: the rumors are that they've fleshed out like what is
- 7:02Speaker 2: actually going to happen throughout the trilogy and, rather than
- 7:06Speaker 2: doing what they did with the sequel trilogy. Well, yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 3: So the... Kenberg, who directed... I'm.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Kenberg wrote on Star Wars Rebels and X-Men Days of
- 7:23Speaker 3: Future Past. I believe he directed Dark Phoenix.
- 7:30Speaker 2: That sounds familiar, yes.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So he is.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Writing the trilogy. He's been working on this trilogy since 2024. So,
- 7:41Speaker 3: they have a plan.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yes, he is best known for writing, producing, and directing
- 7:48Speaker 2: for the X-Men franchise. You're right. Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 3: So, he's been writing the entire trilogy since 2024. So,
- 7:58Speaker 3: it sounds like they are going in with a plan
- 8:02Speaker 3: for what is to happen. As much as I would
- 8:05Speaker 3: like to see a director take on the whole trilogy,
- 8:07Speaker 3: at least it sounds like there's a full script for
- 8:11Speaker 3: all three movies or at least an outline. Yeah. I'm
- 8:15Speaker 3: sure each director is going to come in and go, well,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I want to change this. I want to do yada, yada, yada.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But it sounds like there's an overall plan. So I
- 8:23Speaker 3: think some of the people's reactions that I have seen is, oh,
- 8:26Speaker 3: it sounds like we're going back through the sequel trilogy again.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I do think they're approaching it differently. because we knew
- 8:33Speaker 3: for a fact that each director in the sequel trilogy
- 8:37Speaker 3: was writing their own scripts and like doing their own
- 8:42Speaker 3: development and stuff on it. Whereas at least it sounds
- 8:44Speaker 3: like that there's a development plan for where all three
- 8:48Speaker 3: movies are supposed to go here.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I like the choice of John Watts as a director. Okay.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I think he's done an incredible, he did an incredible
- 8:58Speaker 3: job with Spider-Man. He did an incredible job with skeleton crew.
- 9:01Speaker 3: As a show runner. And so I think it makes
- 9:04Speaker 3: logical sense. To go man. This guy made four billion dollars.
- 9:09Speaker 3: For Sony and Marvel. Doing the Spider-Man trilogy. Skeleton Crew.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Was nicely reviewed for most of it. Let's bring this
- 9:18Speaker 3: guy on. And have this guy.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Start the next movie.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I think that makes sense. I. Like I said I wish.
- 9:28Speaker 3: That they had said. Oh he's going to do the
- 9:30Speaker 3: whole trilogy. But I also get, don't count your chickens
- 9:33Speaker 3: before they're hatched. Like, any, any other. I had a
- 9:39Speaker 3: nightmare while I was driving my daughter, Mara, to my
- 9:43Speaker 3: sister's house for daycare. And I immediately voice texted Clay,
- 9:49Speaker 3: and Siri just garbled it. But I said, I just
- 9:53Speaker 3: had a horrific thought. What if, because this... is episode
- 10:01Speaker 3: 10 of the skywalker saga what if they're being super
- 10:05Speaker 3: sneaky about it and decide hey this is actually going
- 10:08Speaker 3: to be the prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy instead
- 10:13Speaker 3: of going after the sequel trilogy To kind of fit
- 10:16Speaker 3: in the Skywalker saga. Because all of the detractors. Online
- 10:20Speaker 3: are like. Rey is not a real Skywalker. The Skywalker
- 10:24Speaker 3: saga should be done. Which I totally agree with. The
- 10:26Speaker 3: Skywalker saga should be done. We should be able to
- 10:29Speaker 3: carry those characters forward. But the whole let's continue the
- 10:32Speaker 3: Skywalker saga. Is dumb. So I had the nightmare thought.
- 10:38Speaker 3: That it was going to be. Hey Luke is training
- 10:41Speaker 3: Ben Solo. We're going to see a bunch of. body
- 10:44Speaker 3: doubles and cgi and ai recreations and i'm just like
- 10:49Speaker 3: health fucking.
- 10:51Speaker 2: No no so so there is a it's not a
- 10:58Speaker 2: rumor but it's a voice of concern through some people
- 11:05Speaker 2: and i feel like it should be a voice of
- 11:07Speaker 2: concern if this is something that could actually happen um
- 11:12Speaker 2: There are some people that believe that the wild twist
- 11:18Speaker 2: in Starfighter is that the young child is not Luke's son.
- 11:26Speaker 2: But Ryan Gosling is. And so he is in fact
- 11:34Speaker 2: Cade Skywalker. And he will be leading the charge in
- 11:39Speaker 2: the new trilogy. That would be.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I'm not going to say I would be done with
- 11:46Speaker 2: Star Wars, but like, I would be very pissed.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I don't know if Gosling wants to commit to that
- 11:55Speaker 3: many movies, especially when he has Ghost Rider coming up
- 11:58Speaker 3: with Sean Levy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: But that's, that's the thing. If Starfighter works well enough,
- 12:10Speaker 2: they go do Ghost Rider and, And they're like, hey,
- 12:13Speaker 2: let's just jump right back into Star Wars. And it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: just the two of them hanging around for, like, because, hey, yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 2: John Watts does one as, like, the ramp up. And
- 12:28Speaker 2: then you give 11 to Sean Levy.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Which, and that was the other piece of news that
- 12:35Speaker 3: I saw on Star Wars News Net was that Sean Levy...
- 12:41Speaker 3: is actually moving his TV production deal from Netflix to Disney.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And it came into play because Disney saw the Starfighter
- 12:54Speaker 3: cut that he has currently circulating. And they were like,
- 12:57Speaker 3: we love this. We want more. So good sign. Good sign.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Good sign. But that's something that could very well happen. Now,
- 13:08Speaker 2: my take on John Watts. I like the Spider-Man trilogy.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I like Skeleton Crew. I am really meh about the
- 13:25Speaker 2: choice of him leading the charge of the new trilogy.
- 13:32Speaker 2: And I saw somebody else online say that he is
- 13:35Speaker 2: not an offensive pick. It should not Like, it legitimately
- 13:43Speaker 2: should not offend anybody that he is making this movie.
- 13:49Speaker 2: But it's not exciting that he's directing this movie.
- 13:55Speaker 3: No, it's not. Like, it's definitely more of a safe pick. Like,
- 14:03Speaker 3: Sean Levy, as much as probably some people make fun
- 14:06Speaker 3: of this for being, Sean Levy is more of a
- 14:08Speaker 3: risky pick. And a more exciting pick than John Watson's.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I would say.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But that's just.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Because I know. Sean Levy does different genre types of films.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And stuff.
- 14:21Speaker 3: That I like Star Wars bringing in.
- 14:25Speaker 2: My hot take. Because. I can't remember when. We were
- 14:32Speaker 2: talking about it. In the Geekverse Discord. But. we were
- 14:38Speaker 2: talking about, like, oh, what should come next for Star Wars? Like,
- 14:42Speaker 2: who should be the next big director in Star Wars? And, like,
- 14:49Speaker 2: of course, they were choosing all of their, like, cinema directors,
- 14:55Speaker 2: you know?
- 14:57Speaker 3: They're too famous for Star Wars.
- 14:59Speaker 2: There is a rumor that I want to bring up
- 15:01Speaker 2: that kind of goes along the lines of my hot take.
- 15:05Speaker 2: But with John Watts.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I was like, okay, this is literally the safest pick
- 15:18Speaker 2: you can do. Because one thing that we talked about
- 15:22Speaker 2: in Skeleton Crew is, and the one thing that was
- 15:26Speaker 2: told to us even before we saw episode one was, oh,
- 15:31Speaker 2: this feels like classic Star Wars. It is the, hey,
- 15:37Speaker 2: let's go back to our roots. You know?
- 15:40Speaker 3: And I don't think When you say that, I don't
- 15:44Speaker 3: think John Watts was reusing too many elements.
- 15:49Speaker 2: No.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think he knows how to hallmark back to the
- 15:55Speaker 3: creativity that was the original Star Wars. He knew how
- 15:59Speaker 3: to do that with Spider-Man by bringing in some of
- 16:01Speaker 3: the elements there. So I'm not saying I lack confidence
- 16:05Speaker 3: in this. This is definitely a safe choice.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 3: And it looks like Obey Janoy's New Jedi Order film
- 16:12Speaker 3: that was supposed to star Ray with Daisy Ridley is
- 16:17Speaker 3: Ray obviously has been shelved to make way for episode 10.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And that's what I am like really annoyed with is
- 16:28Speaker 2: you had somebody right there. Why couldn't you give her
- 16:34Speaker 2: episode 10? Yep. You know, now, Again, unfortunately, I had
- 16:41Speaker 2: this conversation with Travis yesterday. I was commenting on his show.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And it's just like, unfortunately, you have to kind of
- 16:54Speaker 2: choose the safest, most classic-looking Star Wars picks to adhere
- 17:04Speaker 2: to all of the loudmouths. That are going to be
- 17:07Speaker 2: talking about this.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Like we've talked about forever. The negative voices will always
- 17:13Speaker 3: sound louder than the positive voice. Unfortunately. But that's just
- 17:17Speaker 3: the reality of today's day and age.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah. And... For me.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Like I said, I like Spider-Man. I like Skeleton Crew.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I think with this.
- 17:36Speaker 2: We will have fun, but I, and I can always
- 17:42Speaker 2: be surprised. Like John Watts can always surprise me. Don't
- 17:46Speaker 2: get me wrong, but I do feel like this is
- 17:56Speaker 2: just going to be okay. Continuing the Skywalker saga, uh,
- 18:03Speaker 2: And that's it. Like there is not going to be,
- 18:06Speaker 2: and even Travis said this, you're not going to have
- 18:09Speaker 2: your last Jedi moment. You're not going to have this crazy, like, Hey,
- 18:19Speaker 2: let's put star Wars like on its head type of
- 18:23Speaker 2: move with John Watts. Now they can move in that
- 18:29Speaker 2: direction for episode 11 and episode 12. They very much could.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It all depends on what John Watts does. For this
- 18:38Speaker 2: first movie. I think that overall. The people who are like. Dramatically.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Complaining about this. Like I'm sorry. Get the hell out
- 18:51Speaker 2: of here. I think you're pretty stupid at this point.
- 18:56Speaker 3: It just. It definitely. The biggest thing that this does
- 19:00Speaker 3: for me. Is it makes me sad. that we're missing
- 19:04Speaker 3: perfect like great people who look different to the average
- 19:09Speaker 3: white guy to come in and direct a star wars
- 19:12Speaker 3: film we still haven't had a female director of a
- 19:14Speaker 3: star wars film give me fucking bryce dallas howard sorry
- 19:18Speaker 3: guys i'm really like jammed up about like bryce dallas
- 19:22Speaker 3: howard like everybody has loved everything she does give the
- 19:26Speaker 3: girl a movie like i want to see it happen
- 19:30Speaker 3: I need to see somebody else behind the camera. That's
- 19:34Speaker 3: not just the average white guy.
- 19:38Speaker 2: We, we were, like I said, we were joking around
- 19:40Speaker 2: in the Geekverse Discord. People were saying Tarantino. Somebody had
- 19:46Speaker 2: joked around with Nolan. Yes. The Tarantino thing turned into, like, hey,
- 19:54Speaker 2: let's race swap and gender bin literally every single character
- 19:58Speaker 2: and see what we can come up with. And it lasted, like,
- 20:01Speaker 2: almost a full day, which I thought was hilarious. But, like...
- 20:05Speaker 2: It started getting into a more deeper conversation. And I
- 20:08Speaker 2: even brought up Hiding from the Dark, the recent novel
- 20:12Speaker 2: that we reviewed here on the show, about how you
- 20:17Speaker 2: can do so many crazy different things with storytelling like
- 20:22Speaker 2: these books that I'm afraid we'll never get to see
- 20:26Speaker 2: that type of storytelling in live action. For the fact,
- 20:30Speaker 2: and this is tiny spoilers for Hiding from the Dark,
- 20:34Speaker 2: Darth Vader is literally a nightmare shadow for three-fourths of
- 20:42Speaker 2: the entire story. You could do that kind of thing
- 20:49Speaker 2: in live action, but nobody will be willing to do
- 20:55Speaker 2: that because they would be too afraid of like, oh, well,
- 20:58Speaker 2: there won't be enough Darth Vader. It'll just be his voice.
- 21:02Speaker 2: It'll just be you know, his respiratory machine. Like, it
- 21:08Speaker 2: won't be him, and so people will get mad. And
- 21:11Speaker 2: I think that's dumb. I think that's dumb to think
- 21:14Speaker 2: like that.
- 21:15Speaker 3: It goes back to the, we're developing movies and TV
- 21:18Speaker 3: shows now for the person who has their phone in
- 21:20Speaker 3: their hand the entire time.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:24Speaker 3: It just sucks.
- 21:27Speaker 2: But I eventually said, and this goes along with our
- 21:31Speaker 2: second topic, um, Of course, we don't really talk about things.
- 21:38Speaker 2: We don't talk about rumors too much because we usually
- 21:40Speaker 2: just talk about things that have been confirmed that have
- 21:43Speaker 2: been confirmed by Star Wars. This is a rumor that
- 21:48Speaker 2: is worth talking about because this is something that we
- 21:52Speaker 2: have been wanting for so long. Katie, I sent you
- 21:56Speaker 2: a scoop and I said grain of salt, no sources,
- 21:59Speaker 2: just a rumor at the moment. That Star Wars Lucasfilm
- 22:05Speaker 2: is developing a... Is it one or two? I think
- 22:11Speaker 2: it might even be two.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I think you said two.
- 22:13Speaker 2: They are developing two 2D animated Star Wars movies and
- 22:21Speaker 2: one CGI movie in development.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yep.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And this is when we were talking about who should
- 22:28Speaker 2: be making a movie for Star Wars, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I said, you know what? Fuck it. Star Wars animated
- 22:34Speaker 2: movie directed by Brad Bird.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Who's Brad Bird?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Director of The Incredibles. He's making that new movie on
- 22:45Speaker 2: Netflix called Ray Gun. I don't know if you've seen
- 22:47Speaker 2: the trailer for that one yet. Think of The Incredibles animation,
- 22:55Speaker 2: but for Star Wars. Yeah. Pixar type of animation. 3d
- 23:04Speaker 2: i would love to see that that would be amazing
- 23:07Speaker 2: like i don't know why disney hasn't thought about it
- 23:11Speaker 2: like years ago you know and especially with.
- 23:14Speaker 3: The success of visions and if you want to argue
- 23:18Speaker 3: the success or not they've kept doing it like the
- 23:22Speaker 3: success of visions has shown that people are interested in
- 23:26Speaker 3: seeing star wars in other animation types yeah and if
- 23:30Speaker 3: those animation types be the development of like where it's
- 23:36Speaker 3: like studio Ghibli animation, for instance, like anime is the correct,
- 23:42Speaker 3: it's not animation.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Um, like if we want to switch around stuff, I'm
- 23:49Speaker 3: not necessarily like, I think resistance was everybody's hot take
- 23:52Speaker 3: of like, Ooh, I don't like this animation style, but.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Like, we don't need to see animation all the time.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah. rebels it took people two seasons before they're like
- 24:01Speaker 3: oh okay i can get into this animation style yeah
- 24:04Speaker 3: like so we had to give people time to adapt
- 24:08Speaker 3: and say you know what we're just gonna commit and
- 24:10Speaker 3: you're just gonna have to suck it up like.
- 24:13Speaker 2: And like the fact that they're developing two 2d animation
- 24:20Speaker 2: movies here tells me that uh and and i don't
- 24:25Speaker 2: know if you saw this before um And I don't
- 24:29Speaker 2: remember if you, uh, Oh, Oh my goodness. Uh, what
- 24:33Speaker 2: is that podcast that, uh, I know that a few
- 24:36Speaker 2: of us in the, in the GUA used to listen to,
- 24:38Speaker 2: I love movies.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Um, yeah.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So I had heard from that podcast several years ago
- 24:46Speaker 2: that there was a really big push in Hollywood to
- 24:50Speaker 2: go back to 2d animation. That studios were yearning to
- 24:56Speaker 2: go back to it. And I think the genuine reason
- 25:00Speaker 2: why is that the fact that 3D animation has started
- 25:09Speaker 2: to become a little bit more expensive. Go back to
- 25:14Speaker 2: the roots where you're also having... tens of thousands if
- 25:20Speaker 2: not hundreds of thousands of artists are yearning for a
- 25:24Speaker 2: job like this the market is is ready for it
- 25:28Speaker 2: to have another renaissance for 2d animation i would love
- 25:33Speaker 2: to have a 2d animated star wars film in the
- 25:39Speaker 2: same light of let's say.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Um uh.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of like the last like darker
- 25:50Speaker 2: 2d animation that was also like kind of geared towards
- 25:54Speaker 2: kids um oh what is what is is it.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I think prince of egypt is always when i go
- 26:00Speaker 3: back to like.
- 26:02Speaker 2: What and i know like is that is it a
- 26:06Speaker 2: dark crystal what's what's the one with the with the
- 26:10Speaker 2: with the animals in it um i have no idea Oh, shoot. Oh,
- 26:20Speaker 2: my gosh. This is going to drive me crazy. 2D
- 26:24Speaker 2: animated Dark Crystal. I know that's not right. It's not
- 26:31Speaker 2: Dark Crystal. It's 2D animated.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Oh, gosh.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But like the Black Cauldron is another one. If you
- 26:40Speaker 2: remember Disney's Black Cauldron. Nope. You know what? I think
- 26:50Speaker 2: I made you watch this movie, Treasure Planet. Did we
- 26:53Speaker 2: do that for your film podcast? We never did. Damn it.
- 26:58Speaker 2: That was one that I've always told you to watch.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Treasure Planet. An amazing, amazing movie. And you get to
- 27:08Speaker 2: see how the amalgam of old school... 2d animation can
- 27:17Speaker 2: still flourish with like some CGI scenes. Like it's, it's perfect.
- 27:24Speaker 2: It would be perfect for star Wars. And we've seen freaking,
- 27:29Speaker 2: like you said, visions, visions showed so much 2d animation
- 27:34Speaker 2: and how, Hey, this is still relevant. This is still
- 27:37Speaker 2: something that is, uh, uh, that is still drawn in
- 27:43Speaker 2: by the masses because of, like you said, anime, um, and,
- 27:46Speaker 2: and things like that. I, I just really hope this
- 27:50Speaker 2: rumor is true. Like genuinely, I hope that we get
- 27:53Speaker 2: more on it. Um, which does bring the question with
- 28:02Speaker 2: John Watts being announced as the director right now, right
- 28:12Speaker 2: before October, do you think we get anything at Celebration?
- 28:22Speaker 3: Maybe casting, but I think they're going to wait to
- 28:26Speaker 3: see how Starfighter does in Celebration before Starfighter comes out.
- 28:32Speaker 3: So I think they're going to be going ham on Starfighter,
- 28:38Speaker 3: talking about how Ahsoka... So.
- 28:42Speaker 2: You think the earliest we get anything might be San Diego? Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I don't see anything at Celebration other than maybe a casting.
- 28:53Speaker 3: But I think.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I could even see just a title card. I don't know.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Because that was going to be my next little fun question.
- 29:05Speaker 2: We know nothing about this movie other than the fact
- 29:08Speaker 2: that Rey is going to be involved. Two like unknown
- 29:14Speaker 2: actors are going to be the lead of this film. Yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 2: We don't know anything about plot. We know nothing. So
- 29:27Speaker 2: my question to you was going to be, what is
- 29:31Speaker 2: your out of left field title of this movie? Star Wars,
- 29:43Speaker 2: episode 10, what?
- 29:48Speaker 3: The beginning of the end.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I saw a post of the Revenge of the Sith.
- 30:00Speaker 2: poster and the uh the rise of skywalker poster and
- 30:11Speaker 2: they both said uh the trilogy concludes and somebody was
- 30:17Speaker 2: like man this thing just keeps going like The fact
- 30:25Speaker 2: that they're like, oh, the saga concludes. The saga concludes.
- 30:30Speaker 2: The saga concludes. It's just like.
- 30:34Speaker 3: We just have to commit and move on.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and guys, this does remind me that next week
- 30:41Speaker 2: we are having another discussion topic of where we personally
- 30:49Speaker 2: think Lucasfilm should go as far as ABY or BBY?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Before the Battle of Yevon, after the Battle of Yevon.
- 31:08Speaker 2: And I know what all y'all are thinking. Well, we've
- 31:11Speaker 2: seen both of those already. We're talking about far off
- 31:19Speaker 2: in both directions. We're going to come in with our
- 31:23Speaker 2: opinions and a little bit of like a reasoning why
- 31:26Speaker 2: we think that now uh i did post a question
- 31:30Speaker 2: over in the geekverse discord over in our little star
- 31:34Speaker 2: wars discussion chat uh for anybody who wants to kind
- 31:37Speaker 2: of give their opinion and their reasoning why uh but
- 31:41Speaker 2: yeah i i think that like the fact that we
- 31:45Speaker 2: know this is going to be like with ray right
- 31:49Speaker 2: but ray is only supposed to be a small piece
- 31:52Speaker 2: of it. There is rumor. Is it rumor or confirmation
- 31:57Speaker 2: that Rey is also in Starfighter?
- 32:00Speaker 3: Rumor.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Rumor. So, like, that is something that Travis brought up
- 32:05Speaker 2: that I really, like, also is kind of like, hey, yeah, like,
- 32:09Speaker 2: why are we just throwing Daisy away? You know?
- 32:15Speaker 3: Daisy clearly wants to come back.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Like, there was somebody to do the New Jedi Order.
- 32:21Speaker 2: There was somebody that was like, oh, yeah, and we
- 32:24Speaker 2: could totally recast Rey as an older individual for the
- 32:28Speaker 2: new films. And I'm like, Daisy is still alive. She's
- 32:33Speaker 2: right there.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Why?
- 32:34Speaker 3: You know?
- 32:34Speaker 2: The only reason why I would say recast... I would personally,
- 32:46Speaker 2: and I think this would be a really, like genuinely, Lucasfilm,
- 32:50Speaker 2: John Watts, somebody, anybody, listen to this. Because I think
- 32:54Speaker 2: this would actually be a really fun story that you
- 32:56Speaker 2: could do through all three freaking movies. Maybe not all three,
- 33:02Speaker 2: but I'm getting a little ahead of myself. So, if
- 33:05Speaker 2: you cast an older Rey, two timelines, same movie, same
- 33:14Speaker 2: villain and they are just fucking with ray.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Like our comic that we're going to be talking about
- 33:22Speaker 3: today by kevin scott.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yes and and and i i think that would be
- 33:29Speaker 2: really fun like if you were to show ray like
- 33:33Speaker 2: in the beginning of the film you show like this
- 33:35Speaker 2: whole new actor that's older and it's ray skywalk and
- 33:39Speaker 2: you're like wait what the hell happened to daisy ridley
- 33:41Speaker 2: And like she confronts this enemy and that enemy is
- 33:44Speaker 2: all like, oh, do you remember when we first met?
- 33:46Speaker 2: And then like it goes into a flashback where where
- 33:49Speaker 2: Daisy is like still there. Yeah, I think that would
- 33:53Speaker 2: be really fun. And like not like not have it
- 33:57Speaker 2: to where it's only flashbacks, but like actual dialogue and
- 34:00Speaker 2: like like actual transition through time. That would be fun.
- 34:07Speaker 3: And this is coming, guys. This is coming from the
- 34:09Speaker 3: guy who hates multiple timelines in books.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Exactly! And I genuinely just thought about this last night
- 34:18Speaker 2: when the guys over at Geekverse were talking about this
- 34:22Speaker 2: whole thing. I'm just like, that would be a really
- 34:25Speaker 2: cool concept. It genuinely would. But yeah, that's really all
- 34:30Speaker 2: my take. Again, like... no hard feelings for John Watts whatsoever. Like,
- 34:38Speaker 2: I think he did an amazing job as skeleton crew.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I'm just not expecting him to make a last Jedi. Like, and,
- 34:47Speaker 2: and it's a little disappointing, but I do hope that like,
- 34:55Speaker 2: he wows us like, because although I look at homecoming
- 35:00Speaker 2: as a good Spider-Man film, I didn't leave Homecoming like,
- 35:06Speaker 2: oh my God, that was the best Spider-Man film I
- 35:09Speaker 2: have ever seen in my entire life. You know? Yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 2: But somebody will have that feeling because it will probably
- 35:19Speaker 2: be their first Star Wars. And that's all that matters.
- 35:24Speaker 2: You know?
- 35:24Speaker 3: At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
- 35:26Speaker 2: That's all that matters. But speaking of, Katie did bring
- 35:32Speaker 2: it up. We're going to be now jumping into our
- 35:37Speaker 2: main discussion, which is Tales from the Nightlands. Of course,
- 35:43Speaker 2: this was written by Kevin Scott, drawn by.
- 35:49Speaker 3: We have the first issue is art by Sue Lee.
- 35:55Speaker 3: The second issue is art by Vincenzo Riccardi. And Robert
- 36:01Speaker 3: Hack did the third issue. And that's just generic art by.
- 36:06Speaker 3: So I'm assuming they did both the penciling and the coloring.
- 36:14Speaker 3: And the ink. It is lettered by Comicraft's Tyler Smith
- 36:19Speaker 3: and Jimmy Betancourt. And with concept designs by Ian McKaig
- 36:25Speaker 3: and Francesco Francovia. With cover art by Francesco Francavia. I'm
- 36:34Speaker 3: assuming that's the double L. So I apologize if that
- 36:38Speaker 3: was Villa. But my Spanglish came out. So if you
- 36:49Speaker 3: guys don't know. We are coming into October. And one
- 36:54Speaker 3: of the things that Claire and I have not done.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Is we have not reviewed the Halloween comic. That Kevin
- 37:00Speaker 3: Scott has famously done. For the past five years. He
- 37:03Speaker 3: did not do one this year. So we're going back.
- 37:08Speaker 3: To last year's. Comic. And this is a Dark Horse publication. Where.
- 37:18Speaker 3: We face the same villain. Across three generations. The three trilogies.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Issue one.
- 37:25Speaker 2: We go.
- 37:26Speaker 3: We start with Anakin. And Obi-Wan on Ryloth. Issue number
- 37:32Speaker 3: two is on Ravnir with Luke and Leia. And then
- 37:40Speaker 3: the last issue is on... Oh, I.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Forgot the planet that that one was on.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Aloth in the Gull sector. And we have two continuous characters.
- 37:59Speaker 3: throughout the three issues we have oh my gosh it's dayla.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Day dayless daylith daisha daisha daisha sorry.
- 38:11Speaker 3: And the nightlander queen.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Which her name is um oh gosh it says it
- 38:22Speaker 2: it's not in the first issue no it's it's in
- 38:25Speaker 2: the third issue i know for sure The Hitanaga?
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds right.
- 38:39Speaker 2: The true form of the Hitanaga, yeah. Katie, I'm going
- 38:47Speaker 2: to be completely honest with you. This book was good.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Two-thirds of this book were good. Well, probably I'm going
- 39:02Speaker 2: to say 85% of this book was good.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 39:05Speaker 2: The conclusion. It's cheesy. I wanted to throw this book
- 39:12Speaker 2: at the wall. On top of nonlinear storytelling, one of
- 39:19Speaker 2: the most, I feel like, annoying. I don't even know
- 39:25Speaker 2: if this is a correct word. I'm gonna have to
- 39:27Speaker 2: look at the dictionary conclusionary like storytelling elements is we
- 39:35Speaker 2: will win by the power of love we will win
- 39:38Speaker 2: by the power of our words We will win without
- 39:42Speaker 2: laying a single figure on this giant supernatural being that
- 39:48Speaker 2: has been overpowering everybody for literal millennia. I'm just like....
- 39:57Speaker 3: You can't handle the cheese.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I really can't. I really can't. There's some times where
- 40:05Speaker 2: I'm like, damn. That was cool. Sometimes. but like the
- 40:12Speaker 2: ending of issue three, it was like five pages.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Where they just have hammering it in.
- 40:25Speaker 3: Five pages. And I get that Scott was probably going
- 40:30Speaker 3: for impact, um, with every single character talking about hope.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Um, Oh my god, the word hope was spoken like
- 40:39Speaker 2: ten bajillion times in those five pages. It was annoying.
- 40:43Speaker 3: And that's what they talk about in the first issue, right?
- 40:45Speaker 3: Is that the Nightlander Queen I'm just going to keep
- 40:50Speaker 3: calling her that because the other name is too complex.
- 40:54Speaker 3: The Nightlander Queen is all about consuming the hopeless, basically.
- 40:59Speaker 3: So it is a trend through all three issues. I...
- 41:05Speaker 3: My major dislike with this was I did not like
- 41:10Speaker 3: that Finn is chosen to be the one who falls.
- 41:14Speaker 3: And now in The Rise of Skywalker, looking at it,
- 41:17Speaker 3: it looks like he still didn't learn his lesson. I
- 41:20Speaker 3: hate that choice.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Yeah, like this technically would be a better choice if
- 41:26Speaker 2: Rey was the one. Given the fact that if, like,
- 41:31Speaker 2: did Kevin Scott not get the outline for Legacy while
- 41:34Speaker 2: writing this?
- 41:35Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Like, I'm sorry, like, where is our canon Bible people here, guys? Like,
- 41:46Speaker 2: this is something that should, now, granted, granted, I don't
- 41:52Speaker 2: know how long it took Rue? Roe? How do you
- 41:56Speaker 2: pronounce that last name? We never really figured that out
- 41:59Speaker 2: for Legacy.
- 42:00Speaker 3: The first issue?
- 42:01Speaker 2: No, no, no. Legacy. The author of Legacy. Is it
- 42:06Speaker 2: Rue or is it Roe? I think it's Roe. Roe. Okay. Granted,
- 42:10Speaker 2: Roe probably hadn't finished Legacy by the time this book
- 42:18Speaker 2: was finished. You know?
- 42:20Speaker 3: I would think so, yeah.
- 42:24Speaker 2: And so, like, it's in that awkward stage of, like, hey, like,
- 42:29Speaker 2: this just so happened to come out before that. And so, like,
- 42:35Speaker 2: it doesn't really mesh, but it could have meshed if
- 42:38Speaker 2: they would have worked a little bit harder at it,
- 42:40Speaker 2: you know? Yeah. And I just think, like, Rey should
- 42:44Speaker 2: have been the one. And I understand. I understand in retrospect...
- 42:51Speaker 2: Right after The Last Jedi, Rey is the one that
- 42:54Speaker 2: is the most hopeful. But seeing the doubt that she
- 43:00Speaker 2: has in Legacy, with Leia still being alive at this point,
- 43:07Speaker 2: it's right there in the timeline. You know? And so
- 43:12Speaker 2: it's just unfortunate. Because this is after Legacy.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Because Rey calls her Master. Yeah. In this. So, I
- 43:21Speaker 3: would assume that it's after.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's technically true, yeah. I guess so.
- 43:27Speaker 3: I think... But you could have been like, oh, this is, like,
- 43:33Speaker 3: her final test.
- 43:35Speaker 2: For her hope. Yeah, for sure. Genuinely. Like, it still
- 43:40Speaker 2: would have worked. But, like, I also, like... Bravo for
- 43:46Speaker 2: the artist on issue three, by the way. It's not
- 43:51Speaker 2: my favorite art, but it's the fact that it's not
- 43:54Speaker 2: my favorite art that I'm like, hey, like, you got
- 43:58Speaker 2: the vibe, you know?
- 43:59Speaker 3: And I think all three artists managed to blend each
- 44:05Speaker 3: other's art style and kind of play off of all
- 44:09Speaker 3: of the issues. My favorite art is probably issue number
- 44:13Speaker 3: one with Sully's art. I really enjoyed it.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I actually like issue number two's art.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Issue number two gave me the heebie-jeebies.
- 44:25Speaker 2: So issue two, we're more familiar with their arts because
- 44:30Speaker 2: of High Republic Adventures.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 44:35Speaker 2: And I just really love the vibrancy of issue two.
- 44:42Speaker 2: The pinks, the purples, the reds, the blues, like it
- 44:46Speaker 2: all just looked really good.
- 44:49Speaker 3: And I think if we hadn't reached more into the
- 44:52Speaker 3: heebie-jeebies of, and I get, I'll give you a run, guys.
- 44:55Speaker 3: This is a horror comic. Like, it's supposed to be Halloween,
- 44:58Speaker 3: horror themed, the whole shbang. It's just not my vibe.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Well, and that's what I was going to ask you
- 45:05Speaker 2: for issue three specifically. Because, like, you see Rose, right?
- 45:10Speaker 2: Rose is there talking to Finn. I immediately was like,
- 45:15Speaker 2: where was she on that other panel? I didn't see Rose.
- 45:18Speaker 2: why are you here rose why are you here and
- 45:22Speaker 2: like the very next panel she's in the background her
- 45:26Speaker 2: eyes are all glowy she has this like creepy smile
- 45:28Speaker 2: that's like super creepy and it like she has like
- 45:31Speaker 2: an overbite in that too and then when the light
- 45:34Speaker 2: actually like shines on her in the next panel like
- 45:38Speaker 2: her eyes are all like dysfunctioned and like her mouth
- 45:42Speaker 2: is like 17 times wider like it's.
- 45:45Speaker 3: It's wild I think if Hatch had chosen to go
- 45:49Speaker 3: in a similar direction to Riccardi's artwork, I would have
- 45:55Speaker 3: been more creeped out by it. Because it's not as vibrant,
- 46:00Speaker 3: I don't get quite as creeped out from it. I
- 46:03Speaker 3: still got creeped out from it. Like you said, I
- 46:08Speaker 3: enjoy all three issues of art.
- 46:11Speaker 2: This panel right here with Darth Vader... and and uh
- 46:17Speaker 2: han uh being in carbonite and stuff love the art
- 46:21Speaker 2: love the art and then there's like these huge double
- 46:24Speaker 2: page spreads excuse me um and one in particular like
- 46:29Speaker 2: yoda showed excuse me yoda showed up and stuff like
- 46:33Speaker 2: that was all so good i really really dug the
- 46:37Speaker 2: art so So how did you feel about the character
- 46:51Speaker 2: of Daisha? We see her, like you said, she is
- 46:56Speaker 2: in all three issues. She is a child in the
- 47:03Speaker 2: first one. She is like, I would say a little
- 47:09Speaker 2: younger than middle age.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's 30 years between each issue because that's
- 47:14Speaker 3: when the convergence happens.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Yes. So I would say she's like maybe 40 in
- 47:24Speaker 2: issue number two. And then in issue number three, she's
- 47:27Speaker 2: anywhere between 70 and 80 years old. I really like
- 47:35Speaker 2: this character.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:38Speaker 2: The fact that she is also the connecting point to
- 47:42Speaker 2: all of this, I think is really, really fun. Um,
- 47:47Speaker 2: because of like this, like superstition slash like spiritual ritual
- 47:59Speaker 2: thing that happens within their clan and stuff like this
- 48:03Speaker 2: is what brings about like the Nightlander queen, the whole
- 48:12Speaker 2: premise starts off with her not being able to say
- 48:15Speaker 2: goodbye to her grandfather. And there's this idea about, oh,
- 48:27Speaker 2: people mourn in different ways, and it's not fair that
- 48:33Speaker 2: I never got the chance to mourn. and it's a
- 48:39Speaker 2: it's a crazy connection to Anakin Skywalker because in the
- 48:44Speaker 2: midst of this Nightlander Queen coming out and like causing
- 48:47Speaker 2: havoc she confronts Anakin and she's like oh you don't
- 48:52Speaker 2: want to defeat me because you just want to be
- 48:55Speaker 2: the hero you want to see somebody you lost and
- 49:03Speaker 2: dummy me I didn't even think like When she said it,
- 49:08Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, his mother. I'm like, oh, wait, his
- 49:11Speaker 2: mother is still alive at this point. And it was
- 49:14Speaker 2: Qui-Gon Jinn. like he the person that he wanted to
- 49:17Speaker 2: see was qui-gon jinn because it also arcs back to
- 49:22Speaker 2: um a comment that daisha had said about like oh
- 49:27Speaker 2: so what do you do with uh those who have
- 49:33Speaker 2: passed and he oh what does he say um oh,
- 49:39Speaker 2: you don't, don't your dad lie in state? Because her
- 49:45Speaker 2: grandfather is just, like, in a tomb. And he says, no,
- 49:49Speaker 2: we return them to the force, and it has a
- 49:51Speaker 2: panel of Qui-Gon Jinn burning. I'm like, damn. Like, we,
- 49:58Speaker 2: there was never a time, and I don't know if
- 50:01Speaker 2: there is one in canon that we just have not
- 50:04Speaker 2: read yet. Like, Anakin never got his time to like,
- 50:12Speaker 2: or at least I haven't seen Anakin have his time
- 50:15Speaker 2: to mourn Qui-Gon. Now, again, I think more so it's
- 50:19Speaker 2: because the Jedi are like, Hey, there's no need to mourn.
- 50:24Speaker 2: He's with the force.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 50:26Speaker 2: And this is still a child who has lived most
- 50:29Speaker 2: of his life outside of a Jedi council and just
- 50:33Speaker 2: now learning to be a Padawan.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 50:34Speaker 2: So like, This does make sense for a kid who's
- 50:37Speaker 2: just still learning about all that stuff. But I love
- 50:43Speaker 2: the way this whole thing ends because even the first
- 50:47Speaker 2: issue ends with cheese because then you have Obi-Wan Kenobi
- 50:51Speaker 2: he's like, he's never alone and then he uses the
- 50:54Speaker 2: Force too. This whole book is cheese. Unfortunately the third
- 51:00Speaker 2: book does push it a little too far. like because
- 51:07Speaker 2: you even have at the end of issue two like
- 51:12Speaker 2: Luke has this of course very Luke mentality of oh
- 51:16Speaker 2: I have to do everything by myself you know I
- 51:18Speaker 2: have to do all this on my own and then
- 51:21Speaker 2: who saves his ass Leia and it was like idiot
- 51:25Speaker 2: like I'm gonna help you too I like I just
- 51:32Speaker 2: think sometimes when it comes to the cheese factor, I personally,
- 51:40Speaker 2: I don't see it as an attack towards me. I
- 51:42Speaker 2: think that's silly to ever think that, but I do
- 51:46Speaker 2: think it is a, Hey, so that way I don't
- 51:52Speaker 2: have to think about this story anymore. Let's just write
- 51:55Speaker 2: it like this.
- 51:58Speaker 3: I do think, though, that you are... This is an
- 52:01Speaker 3: all-age comic, and so they have to incorporate that in
- 52:04Speaker 3: some way. Like, reading the different Star Wars.
- 52:09Speaker 2: The power of love. The power of love.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Reading the different Star Wars books tomorrow that, like, I've
- 52:14Speaker 3: accumulated that are, like, the young readers' books. Like, Jedi,
- 52:17Speaker 3: Brave Every Way, and I Love You, I Know. Like,
- 52:24Speaker 3: they all have... some element of cheese in.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Them oh yeah like there's uh i have one of
- 52:30Speaker 2: the little golden books of star wars that's like uh
- 52:36Speaker 2: is it oh man i can't remember the title it's
- 52:38Speaker 2: like star wars uh uh uh like a galactic princess
- 52:44Speaker 2: or something like that and it's talking about the the
- 52:46Speaker 2: three princesses had may leia and technically ray but not
- 52:52Speaker 2: really you know type of thing um So, like, I
- 52:57Speaker 2: get that. I do. But, like, one of the things that, like,
- 53:03Speaker 2: I feel like Kevin Scott and everybody really pushed on
- 53:09Speaker 2: this whole release of these three individual books was, like, hey,
- 53:14Speaker 2: this is going to probably be the scariest one that
- 53:16Speaker 2: we've made, you know? Like, you thought the Darth Vader
- 53:19Speaker 2: ones were scary? Hey!
- 53:21Speaker 1: Like.
- 53:22Speaker 2: here we go. This is going to be a supernatural
- 53:24Speaker 2: being that you've never seen before. It's like, cool. And
- 53:28Speaker 2: then you're like, by the power of love, it's like,
- 53:33Speaker 2: you're this close. You were this close. And again, like
- 53:38Speaker 2: this is literally everything that I have personally asked for
- 53:41Speaker 2: in star Wars. I always say, Hey, let's get weird.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Let's get more supernatural beings. Like this is what I
- 53:48Speaker 2: want in star Wars. Where it gets sci-fi, supernatural, like,
- 53:55Speaker 2: all of that stuff. I will say, and, you know,
- 54:01Speaker 2: this is just the process of me not knowing how
- 54:07Speaker 2: certain species age. When Daisha was introduced in the third book,
- 54:13Speaker 2: I was like, that's not her. What? But she's old.
- 54:18Speaker 2: And old people don't look like... how they look when
- 54:21Speaker 2: they were young. So, you know, it is what it is.
- 54:24Speaker 2: I do kind of like how she became the crazy
- 54:29Speaker 2: old coot, you know, that's just like, Hey, you know,
- 54:35Speaker 2: it's the, it's the supernatural blah, blah, blah. That comes
- 54:38Speaker 2: every 30 years. Like, I think that's fun. And I
- 54:45Speaker 2: think that like, you could genuinely, I would like to
- 54:54Speaker 2: see Daisha cameo in some stuff from here on out.
- 55:00Speaker 2: With her being solidified as this key thing. Again, because
- 55:08Speaker 2: the Bindu was a huge thing in the Rebels, right?
- 55:12Speaker 2: And I feel like the Nightlander is such an entity
- 55:19Speaker 2: that you could be like, hey, she should be as
- 55:22Speaker 2: big as the Bindu.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I could definitely see that where it's like
- 55:27Speaker 3: the dark side aspect of it. Like that eternal life seeker.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Um, integrating it in that sort of way. I don't
- 55:36Speaker 3: know if we'll ever do see that just because of
- 55:38Speaker 3: the way Lucasfilm is in their lackluster desire to incorporate
- 55:45Speaker 3: things from books and comics.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Unfortunately. Yeah.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Um, But yeah, I really enjoyed this one. It did
- 55:55Speaker 3: give me the heebie-jeebies. Can't say that it didn't. I'm
- 55:59Speaker 3: just never going to be a horror person. But I
- 56:02Speaker 3: really enjoyed the art. I enjoyed getting that multi-timeline aspect
- 56:09Speaker 3: of the villain facing the heroes of our trilogies and
- 56:17Speaker 3: getting it knocked out. Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 2: But guys, I think that is it for this episode. Uh,
- 56:26Speaker 2: we did spend a while on the conversation of John Watts, uh,
- 56:30Speaker 2: was not entirely expecting it to go that long, but
- 56:34Speaker 2: I think it's, it's, we got something, you know? And,
- 56:38Speaker 2: and I think that's the big thing is that we
- 56:40Speaker 2: are slowly moving towards like, Hey, we're going to see
- 56:46Speaker 2: star Wars more often now. Um, so yeah, I, I
- 56:51Speaker 2: think it'll be, it'll be fun. Of course, you can
- 56:54Speaker 2: always find me at fanboyclay on Instagram and on threads. Also,
- 57:02Speaker 2: if you guys could please go check out Volume Comics
- 57:06Speaker 2: on Instagram and threads as well. Things are happening. I'll
- 57:14Speaker 2: say that much. I can't say much more. But things
- 57:17Speaker 2: are happening. And it's exciting. I will eventually be able
- 57:22Speaker 2: to say something. I just don't know when yet. But
- 57:28Speaker 2: things are happening. Speaking of Ranger Alliance as well, Jake
- 57:32Speaker 2: and I finally got back together and recorded an episode
- 57:37Speaker 2: of Ranger Alliance. We decided, hey, we're going to stick
- 57:41Speaker 2: through it. We really like the show. We talked about
- 57:45Speaker 2: the cancellation of Power Rangers movie. We talked about the
- 57:49Speaker 2: failure of of the last Jason David Frank movie, of course,
- 57:54Speaker 2: Legend of the White Dragon. We talked about, hey, we're
- 57:58Speaker 2: probably going to review the Matt Damon Power Rangers spinoff,
- 58:02Speaker 2: whatever it's going to be movie, whenever that releases. So
- 58:08Speaker 2: that'll be fun and looking forward to that. But yeah,
- 58:13Speaker 2: so if you have been enjoying us over at Ranger Alliance,
- 58:16Speaker 2: please go check us out there as well. But Katie,
- 58:19Speaker 2: what about you?
- 58:21Speaker 3: Y'all, you can find me on most social media platforms.
- 58:23Speaker 3: It's at Slice of Katie. Remember, the show is available
- 58:26Speaker 3: on Instagram and threads, even if we don't seem like
- 58:30Speaker 3: we are. We're there. We promise you. You can also
- 58:34Speaker 3: use that username and shoot us an email with that
- 58:38Speaker 3: username at gmail.com. So with that, guys, I want to
- 58:43Speaker 3: wish everyone a great day or night, whatever time of
- 58:45Speaker 3: day you're listening or watching. And we will see y'all
- 58:47Speaker 3: next time. May the force be with you.
