- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's happened? Everybody?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of De Checko Daily. Andrew di
- 0:14Speaker 2: Checo here with you, Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds dot Com.
- 0:18Speaker 2: We have day one of mandatory mini camp notes to
- 0:22Speaker 2: get to today, and please bear with me if I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: a little scatterbrained, because I have a lot of my
- 0:27Speaker 2: notes here that are written out, and I will try
- 0:30Speaker 2: my best to formulate them so that it makes sense.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I have not yet written my observation, so I'm getting
- 0:36Speaker 2: it to you guys first. But before we get started,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I thought it was really interesting that Mike Garriffolo of
- 0:42Speaker 2: NFL Network reported that former Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown
- 0:46Speaker 2: visited the facility last week to pick up some items
- 0:49Speaker 2: and say goodbye, and then he also signed a photo
- 0:53Speaker 2: that was there and it said the best to ever
- 0:56Speaker 2: play here, always open and he signed it.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Interesting. If he's talking about the best.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Receiver to play in Philadelphia, which is how I sort
- 1:08Speaker 2: of perceived it and interpreted the message, you could certainly
- 1:12Speaker 2: make a case. In my opinion, I would say yes.
- 1:14Speaker 2: But there's a lot of great ones. DeShawn Jackson, My Quick,
- 1:18Speaker 2: Harold Carmichael, There's there's so many. If he's talking about
- 1:22Speaker 2: the best player in franchise history, man, uh no, there's
- 1:29Speaker 2: there's no shot. There's no shot at that, especially when
- 1:34Speaker 2: you have someone like Lane Johnson on the team he
- 1:37Speaker 2: used to play for no less. But if he's talking
- 1:41Speaker 2: about the best wide receiver to come through Philadelphia, he
- 1:45Speaker 2: certainly has a case. And that might be something fun
- 1:47Speaker 2: to do in the six weeks where there's no football
- 1:51Speaker 2: or practice or anything like that to kind of go through.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It could be something that we re revisit later on.
- 1:57Speaker 2: But let's get to the practice opsers from.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Tuesday, and.
- 2:06Speaker 2: The Eagles started off well, let you know what, Let's
- 2:08Speaker 2: do an attendance report because the only player to my
- 2:11Speaker 2: eye that was not there was edge rusher Joe Tryon
- 2:14Speaker 2: show Yanka. And for the days that the media has
- 2:18Speaker 2: been there for, we have not seen Joe try On
- 2:21Speaker 2: show Yinka. But present and not practicing today wide receiver
- 2:27Speaker 2: Makay Lemon, who is still nursing the hamstring injury even
- 2:31Speaker 2: no surprise, because you don't want to run the risk
- 2:34Speaker 2: of reaggravation. This gives him time to let it heal
- 2:37Speaker 2: fully and you're able to get to training camp full strength.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He has enough time to work through that. No surprise there.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Wide receiver Britain Covey was present and didn't practice, so
- 2:49Speaker 2: was Jehide Campbell, Carson Steele, the running back, linebacker Chandler Martin,
- 2:57Speaker 2: tight end Grant cal Kata, and defensive.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Back Tucker Large.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Tucker Large is on the reserve non football injury list,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and I actually saw Chandler Martin and Tucker Large working
- 3:07Speaker 2: on the second field. I guess it would be with
- 3:10Speaker 2: the trainer and they were doing some sprints. So they
- 3:14Speaker 2: are working and trying to get you know, trying to
- 3:16Speaker 2: get some work in while they are sidelined. And I
- 3:20Speaker 2: think after the ball security drill, my focus diverted to
- 3:24Speaker 2: the offensive line, where I really wanted to fixate on
- 3:28Speaker 2: offensive line coach Chris Cooper because for one, of course,
- 3:32Speaker 2: he's replacing a legendary figure in Philadelphia and in the
- 3:37Speaker 2: organization in Jeff Stoutland.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But I also wanted.
- 3:41Speaker 2: To see how he was teaching and just his presence
- 3:45Speaker 2: in practice, and what we've seen, or what I've seen
- 3:48Speaker 2: for the last handful of times that it's been open,
- 3:51Speaker 2: is that you see someone who is very intense. He's
- 3:56Speaker 2: has a lot of energy, he's implementing some different things
- 3:59Speaker 2: in terms of, you know, tools to work with, and
- 4:04Speaker 2: there's a lot of tempo to his offensive line session
- 4:08Speaker 2: when he's working with those players. But I think most
- 4:12Speaker 2: interestingly was that he's overseeing a group now that has
- 4:17Speaker 2: a lot of veterans there, those who have worked only
- 4:21Speaker 2: with Jeff Stoutland, and so how do you go about
- 4:26Speaker 2: sort of commanding that buy in or you know, trying
- 4:30Speaker 2: to convince someone like Elane Johnson or Jordan Mylotta that
- 4:34Speaker 2: this is what we're implementing here is for the best.
- 4:38Speaker 2: And he mentioned Lane Johnson mentioned after practice his playing experience,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and then talking to former Minnesota Vikings players like Brian
- 4:46Speaker 2: O'Neill who spoke very highly of Chris Cooper. So I
- 4:53Speaker 2: was able to kind of really pay attention to, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 2: his coaching, his directives and things of that nature. Cross
- 4:59Speaker 2: training could end up being something that you see some
- 5:02Speaker 2: more of with him. And I look at even in
- 5:06Speaker 2: the early going, during the early stages of practice when
- 5:09Speaker 2: it was just the offensive lineman, I saw Drew Kendall
- 5:12Speaker 2: getting some work at left guard, Markel Bell, who had
- 5:15Speaker 2: been replacing Lane Johnson at right tackle.
- 5:17Speaker 1: When Lane wasn't there.
- 5:19Speaker 2: He was working at left tackle, someone like Michael Morris
- 5:24Speaker 2: and Cameron Williams were working on the right side. Just
- 5:27Speaker 2: some observations there, and it's something that I noted and
- 5:30Speaker 2: I will be keeping an eye on seeing if that
- 5:32Speaker 2: trend continues in training camp. And so you saw that,
- 5:36Speaker 2: and then eventually they got into seven on sevens. So
- 5:43Speaker 2: seven on sevens, I feel the need to I've said
- 5:46Speaker 2: this on this podcast, I've written about it, but I
- 5:48Speaker 2: feel it needs reiterating. The Eagles are in the early
- 5:51Speaker 2: stages of this offense offensive implementation under first year coordinator
- 5:56Speaker 2: Sean Mannion. So this is where it's the introductory phase.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You're learning verbage, You're trying to figure out the strengths
- 6:05Speaker 2: of your players. The players are trying to learn the personnel,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and the personnel is trying to find ways to best
- 6:11Speaker 2: utilize the players that they have and maximize their ability.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And so with that growing pain should be expected. That's
- 6:19Speaker 2: what spring practices are for. You're trying different things. You're
- 6:23Speaker 2: working on implementing it through the vision of Sean Mannion
- 6:26Speaker 2: and in a collaborative approach really with his coaches as
- 6:29Speaker 2: well that are versed in the background that he's bringing in,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and you really won't be able to see the total molding,
- 6:37Speaker 2: and it probably won't be fully repped up until you
- 6:40Speaker 2: get the training camp, even in the later stages of camp.
- 6:44Speaker 2: But it shouldn't really be a surprise that the defense
- 6:46Speaker 2: looked cohesive, they looked poised, and they were fast flowing.
- 6:51Speaker 2: They made a lot of plays early on.
- 6:53Speaker 1: They were.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I guess, closing on the football quickly. And when you
- 6:58Speaker 2: have players that have played within that system for three years,
- 7:02Speaker 2: many of them and many of them have also learned
- 7:05Speaker 2: under Vic Vangiel for the three years that he's been
- 7:07Speaker 2: in Philadelphia, that shouldn't really.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Be a surprise.
- 7:11Speaker 2: But what I can tell you from an offensive standpoint
- 7:13Speaker 2: is that you're seeing Jaywen Hurts do a lot of
- 7:15Speaker 2: under center.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You're seeing motion being implemented.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You were seeing some of the eye candy type of
- 7:22Speaker 2: things that you were hoping to see with Kellen Moore.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You're seeing that. Now we'll see how.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It continues to develop and evolve when the Eagles return
- 7:31Speaker 2: for training camp. They still have one more day of
- 7:33Speaker 2: mandatory mini camp, but I think that this is all
- 7:37Speaker 2: something that's going to greatly benefit Jaywin Hurts not only
- 7:40Speaker 2: jaywhen hurts, but the entire offense, the offensive line and
- 7:44Speaker 2: learning this new outside zone schemes and some of the
- 7:49Speaker 2: different things that the offensive linemen are going to be
- 7:51Speaker 2: tasked with doing. And you know that the defense had
- 7:56Speaker 2: some plays early. Jeremiah Trotter Junior is a player who
- 8:00Speaker 2: continues to stand out to me. He nearly picked off
- 8:03Speaker 2: Andy Dalton. He plays with great anticipation. He always seems
- 8:07Speaker 2: to be in the right place at the right time.
- 8:08Speaker 2: He's highly instinctive, and it seems like whenever he's on
- 8:12Speaker 2: the field, he finds a way to make plays. Jay
- 8:15Speaker 2: loox Hunt is another player that deserves a mention here
- 8:18Speaker 2: because he looks increasingly more comfortable dropping in the coverage.
- 8:22Speaker 2: He has a good feel for landmarks and when he
- 8:25Speaker 2: sinks into the coverage, he's able to read the eyes.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Of the quarterback. This is the guy who led the
- 8:31Speaker 1: Eagles in interceptions last season.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He picked off Andy Dalton in seven on sevens and
- 8:36Speaker 2: then during a situational period he stormed into the backfield
- 8:39Speaker 2: that likely would have been a sack. I think, and
- 8:42Speaker 2: I've said that this will be a breakout season for
- 8:44Speaker 2: jaloks Hunt. I think he could approach double digit sacks
- 8:47Speaker 2: a certainly playing the opposite Jonathan Bernard, and I think this.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Is sort of the start of it.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Every year he's made leaps, this one feels like he's
- 8:57Speaker 2: primed for the breakthrough, the door down and announcing his
- 9:01Speaker 2: presence to the rest of the NFL. Certainly don't want
- 9:04Speaker 2: to never put too much pressure or get too carried away.
- 9:08Speaker 2: But when you look at his build and he's growing
- 9:12Speaker 2: into this position, he was a converted safety last season.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He led the edge rushers and snaps, he led the
- 9:19Speaker 2: Eagles and interceptions, quarterback hits.
- 9:22Speaker 1: He's just a productive football player.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And I think that he's proven that the more he's
- 9:27Speaker 2: out there, the more snaps and reps that he's getting,
- 9:30Speaker 2: the better he's becoming. And Riek Wohen is another player
- 9:35Speaker 2: that deserves to be talked about here because in every
- 9:39Speaker 2: practice he's made a play. I've talked plenty about his
- 9:43Speaker 2: size at six foot four, his blazing speed, the uniqueness
- 9:48Speaker 2: of his frame makes it so difficult for players to
- 9:51Speaker 2: sort of get around him. He made another nice play
- 9:53Speaker 2: on a ball over the middle to Devonte Smith, and
- 9:57Speaker 2: I think what I'm most taken about is his ability
- 10:01Speaker 2: to flip his hips and run with receivers normally not
- 10:05Speaker 2: normally often when you see players of that makeup, they're
- 10:10Speaker 2: usually stiff or they don't run particularly well.
- 10:14Speaker 1: He can do all of that. It's not about ability
- 10:17Speaker 1: with him.
- 10:17Speaker 2: It's about consistency playing within the confines of that defense and.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Being a dependable player down in and down out.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And if he's able to do that, and it certainly
- 10:27Speaker 2: seems like vic Vangil, at least in the early going,
- 10:29Speaker 2: is bullish enriek one, and why would he not be.
- 10:33Speaker 2: They're still in the you know, the early process of
- 10:35Speaker 2: things here. But if he's able to really hone in
- 10:38Speaker 2: and fine tune some things and master the details of
- 10:41Speaker 2: this defense, the Eagles are gonna have a big time
- 10:44Speaker 2: player there at corner because he's gonna see a lot
- 10:47Speaker 2: of action and he's equipped to handle that and make
- 10:50Speaker 2: some plays on the football, as we've seen early in
- 10:53Speaker 2: his career.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But Jalen hurts.
- 10:57Speaker 2: In seven on seven's there was an overthrow Tovante Smith.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Davante got behind looked like it was Marcus EPs Enrique Wollen.
- 11:06Speaker 1: This is the first or early throw in the seven
- 11:10Speaker 1: on seven sessions. Davante won the pass was just out
- 11:13Speaker 1: of reach. It was a little too far.
- 11:16Speaker 2: The the second team corners initially for seven on sevens
- 11:22Speaker 2: Jonathan Jones on the outside, Keilely Ringo on the other side.
- 11:25Speaker 2: The linebackers were Chance Campbell, who had a nice practice
- 11:30Speaker 2: and Smile Mandan who also had a nice practice. Then
- 11:33Speaker 2: you had the secondary of Andre Sam, Michael Carter and
- 11:38Speaker 2: Mac McWilliams playing nickel. Andy Dalton again took the second
- 11:43Speaker 2: team work at quarterback, which is now notable because for
- 11:48Speaker 2: the practices that we've been there for at least the
- 11:50Speaker 2: last three, Andy Dalton's been working with the second team.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Maybe that's just the day that it falls, but you know,
- 12:00Speaker 2: it was my understanding that there have been rotating between
- 12:03Speaker 2: Tanner McKee and Andy Dalton. But it seems like Andy
- 12:07Speaker 2: Dalton is becoming or growing into the number two role.
- 12:12Speaker 2: But that's not to say that previously in the other
- 12:16Speaker 2: ota days that we weren't there because we were there
- 12:18Speaker 2: for two of the six that Tanner McKee wasn't working
- 12:20Speaker 2: with the twos. But on this day, what I can
- 12:23Speaker 2: tell you is that it was again Andy Dalton working
- 12:25Speaker 2: with the second team.
- 12:26Speaker 1: And it was a mixed bag. Really, it was a
- 12:28Speaker 1: mixed bag for the offense.
- 12:29Speaker 2: There were some good and there were some plays that
- 12:32Speaker 2: I'm sure they would like to have back, but it's
- 12:34Speaker 2: all part of this process of growing and installing a
- 12:39Speaker 2: new system and trying some different things. And Jaywen had
- 12:42Speaker 2: some nice throws, Andy Dalton had some nice throws.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Tanner McKee had sort of a nice bounce back practice.
- 12:48Speaker 2: The quarterback who didn't necessarily make the most of his
- 12:52Speaker 2: I believe six reps was rookie Cole Payton, who I
- 12:55Speaker 2: thought and the practice last week did a did some
- 13:00Speaker 2: good things. But in this one, and we'll get to
- 13:03Speaker 2: it later, I thought that there were he left something
- 13:06Speaker 2: to be desired. But there's a lot of passes to
- 13:10Speaker 2: the running backs, is what I've noticed. And Saquon Barkley's
- 13:15Speaker 2: been a popular target from to Jalen Hurts. He's been
- 13:18Speaker 2: a good outlet receiver, dependable one. And Will Shipley has
- 13:23Speaker 2: factored in a little bit as well as a receiver.
- 13:26Speaker 2: We'll see if that becomes something that the offense looks
- 13:29Speaker 2: too a little bit more this year, because it hasn't
- 13:32Speaker 2: really been a facet of the offense in recent years.
- 13:35Speaker 1: We seem to be tantalized with that or.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Maybe even deceived in the summer because it doesn't manifest
- 13:41Speaker 2: in the regular season despite seeing an influx of that
- 13:45Speaker 2: during training camp.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 13:51Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 13:54Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 13:58Speaker 3: the dispense for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly,

- 14:42Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans. Twenty
- 14:45Speaker 3: one and up.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I thought there were times in the seven on seven
- 14:49Speaker 2: sessions that maybe Jalent held on to the ball a
- 14:51Speaker 2: little bit too long. There is a play that he
- 14:53Speaker 2: ends up hitting Saquon over the middle, the play that
- 14:57Speaker 2: I'm referring to and Smile mind and have really good
- 14:59Speaker 2: coverage there. Smile Monn also had really nice coverage on
- 15:03Speaker 2: Hollywood Brown. It was on a Jay when hurts ball
- 15:06Speaker 2: at the force the incompletion on what looked to be
- 15:10Speaker 2: a busted coverage, Andy Dalton hit Elijah Moore for a
- 15:13Speaker 2: touchdown which was probably twenty five or thirty yards down
- 15:17Speaker 2: the right sideline. I'm not exactly sure who was in
- 15:21Speaker 2: coverage on that play. It looked like it could have
- 15:23Speaker 2: been Mac McWilliams or Andre Sam but it definitely looked
- 15:26Speaker 2: like it was a busted coverage.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And the play that I was.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Talking about that Jeremiah Trotter Junior almost picked off Andy Dalton.
- 15:31Speaker 2: He jumped in front of will Shipley and in that session,
- 15:36Speaker 2: in that period there, Cole Payton got three reps. Nice
- 15:43Speaker 2: pass breakup on one of the tryout players, Bryce I got,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I got, Yeah, I gotta figure out the name here,
- 15:52Speaker 2: but I want to get that too.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Because the Eagles while I'm thinking.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Of it had some tryout players that were here, and
- 15:59Speaker 2: it was Bryce Ford, Wheaton, Brandon Hayes who was recently
- 16:03Speaker 2: waived when the Eagles signed defensive tackles Ion Wilson.
- 16:07Speaker 1: James Proche who's been in the league a little bit.
- 16:09Speaker 2: He was also at Eagles practice as well on a
- 16:12Speaker 2: tryout basis, but.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Three castro fields broke up a play to Bryce Ford.
- 16:19Speaker 1: We special teams.
- 16:23Speaker 2: The punt returners were Hollywood Brown, James Proche, and Cooper
- 16:28Speaker 2: Dejen something maybe to file away. Remember Britain Covey did
- 16:32Speaker 2: not practice today, So without Britain Covey, without Kaye Lemon,
- 16:37Speaker 2: I think that that's probably why you saw four different
- 16:41Speaker 2: tryout receivers. The fourth player who was wearing number forty
- 16:45Speaker 2: one the last name Davis. I haven't been able to
- 16:46Speaker 2: pinpoint just yet, but there were four players at receiver
- 16:50Speaker 2: during the mandatory mini camp Day one session. You saw
- 16:57Speaker 2: bass when the Eagles went the team Cooper Degen drew MCA,
- 17:00Speaker 2: but safety Byron Young was in for Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter,
- 17:04Speaker 2: while he was present, he didn't participate in team drills.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Not really surprised as he's sort of you know, recovering
- 17:11Speaker 2: from from the shoulder, and Jonathan Jones had a nice
- 17:19Speaker 2: pass breakup during a situational period, Andy Dalton threw it
- 17:24Speaker 2: to Elijah Moore deep left. Jonathan Jones was all over
- 17:28Speaker 2: for the past breakup and there was an end around
- 17:33Speaker 2: to Danny Gray, but Chance Campbell sniffed that one out.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Chance Campbell has has flashed a little bit again.
- 17:41Speaker 2: We're not gonna get carried away, but all you have
- 17:44Speaker 2: to base your information off of is what we you know.
- 17:48Speaker 1: For me is what I've seen, and.
- 17:51Speaker 2: For what I've seen, Chance Campbell has he's an active player.
- 17:57Speaker 2: He's he's physical, and he's willing to mix it up,
- 17:59Speaker 2: and he seems to be more often than not in
- 18:01Speaker 2: the right place. Still has a long ways to go
- 18:05Speaker 2: to elbow his way in roster for roster consideration, at
- 18:09Speaker 2: least in my estimation right now, but I thought it
- 18:12Speaker 2: was notable that he was able to produce when his
- 18:15Speaker 2: number was called. Johnny Wilson has made some nice plays
- 18:20Speaker 2: over the past few practices. Really, he seemed to be
- 18:24Speaker 2: a player that Andy Dalton feels really comfortable with, especially
- 18:26Speaker 2: on those inbreaking routes. He uses his frame well to
- 18:29Speaker 2: snatch the football way and shield defenders. Highwood Brown's been
- 18:33Speaker 2: another option for Andy Dalton, and I thought that that
- 18:38Speaker 2: was something worth mentioning. Is that Johnny Wilson seems to
- 18:43Speaker 2: be and the pads aren't on yet. We'll see what
- 18:45Speaker 2: happens when the lights come on in training camp, and
- 18:47Speaker 2: you know that's sort of the big stage, the ultimate
- 18:50Speaker 2: proving grounds. But Johnny Wilson seems to be building off
- 18:53Speaker 2: of what he was able to do before he suffered
- 18:55Speaker 2: the injury last summer, and the more reps that he
- 18:58Speaker 2: gets it seems the more comfort well he's becoming. No
- 19:01Speaker 2: coincidence there. Jaywen Hurts had a really nice deep ball
- 19:05Speaker 2: to e J Jenkins down the scene. It was Drew
- 19:09Speaker 2: mccooba and Riq Wollen and coverage there. And you have
- 19:13Speaker 2: to remember the way that at least for seven on
- 19:16Speaker 2: seven is the way that it's geared is for the
- 19:19Speaker 2: offense to have that advantage. That's just a nature of it.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's a passing essentially, a passing drill. But when you
- 19:26Speaker 2: get the team that's where I wrote. You wrote really
- 19:28Speaker 2: able to see the defense bear down and how active
- 19:31Speaker 2: and intense they are and how they sort of operate
- 19:34Speaker 2: in unison. I thought early in practice DeVante Smith was
- 19:41Speaker 2: a popular target for Jalalen Hurts well. Later in the session,
- 19:45Speaker 2: it looked like he forced one to Davante as he
- 19:48Speaker 2: was sort of rolling to his right.
- 19:50Speaker 1: That pass was incomplete. Yeah, kay Jenkins again.
- 20:00Speaker 2: As I'm looking through my notes, Andy Dalton hit him again,
- 20:04Speaker 2: which smile monded in coverage. Smile Monded is pretty sticky
- 20:08Speaker 2: in coverage. In fact, I thought both second team linebackers today,
- 20:12Speaker 2: as I outlined the chance Campbell, I thought Smile Monden
- 20:14Speaker 2: showed well.
- 20:16Speaker 1: As well.
- 20:17Speaker 2: So here's a sequence for Cole Payton because he had
- 20:21Speaker 2: three more reps. Later on, there was a Damian Pierce
- 20:25Speaker 2: carry that went up the gut. Maximus Polley, the undrafted
- 20:29Speaker 2: safety OUTA Wafford, had a pass break up on Samori Torre,
- 20:33Speaker 2: the wide receiver who was recently signed over the middle,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and then he hit Brandon Hayes on a deep over.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Remember Brandon Hayes was a player who was with the
- 20:43Speaker 2: Eagles last week and then when they signed defensive tackles
- 20:47Speaker 2: Ion Wilson, he was waived. He was participating on a
- 20:50Speaker 2: tryout basis. It was like a deep over with tary
- 20:54Speaker 2: castro fields in coverage. There was dump off to Dallas
- 21:01Speaker 2: Goddard in the session. Look, the tight ends are going
- 21:03Speaker 2: to be a big part of this offense as it
- 21:06Speaker 2: pertains to the passing game, but also when it comes
- 21:08Speaker 2: to blocking, tight ends have to be able to block
- 21:11Speaker 2: in the system. Dallas got ter talk a little bit
- 21:13Speaker 2: about that after practice, about how much Johnny Munt has
- 21:16Speaker 2: has helped.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Him in this regard.
- 21:18Speaker 2: But you can see it if you go back to
- 21:20Speaker 2: watch it and watching any of these offenses, you see
- 21:22Speaker 2: how paramount it is to get blocking production from the
- 21:26Speaker 2: tight end position. There was another play that Quenyon Mitchell
- 21:32Speaker 2: essentially ran the route for Davante Jaylen just missed him
- 21:36Speaker 2: in the right corner of the end zone. Really well
- 21:39Speaker 2: played by Quinnon who just matched them step for step.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But that's kind of just.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It reiterates something that I wrote about a couple of
- 21:47Speaker 2: weeks ago, a couple of days ago for Inside the
- 21:49Speaker 2: Birds dot Com about Quenyon Mitchell taking the next step
- 21:53Speaker 2: and he doesn't believe that he's an.
- 21:55Speaker 1: All pro anymore.
- 21:55Speaker 2: He's turned the page from that, and because he's wired
- 21:58Speaker 2: in that way, because he is a ultimate competitor and
- 22:01Speaker 2: thrives in that setting. It's gonna bring out the best
- 22:04Speaker 2: of him and I cannot wait to watch Quinnon versus A. J.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Brown.
- 22:08Speaker 2: For the two day Joint practices in Foxborough in August,
- 22:15Speaker 2: Andy Dalton lofted a pass in the end zone to
- 22:17Speaker 2: Johnny Muntz. That's right, Johnny munt was targeted, but Andre
- 22:22Speaker 2: sam was called for a defensive pass interference there. He
- 22:26Speaker 2: ends up hitting Quez Watkins on the next play. Then,
- 22:30Speaker 2: on this occasion, Andy Dalton holds the ball, he rolls
- 22:35Speaker 2: to his left and he rifles a throw to will
- 22:40Speaker 2: Shipley and he overshoots him and it chance Campbell again.
- 22:47Speaker 2: He probably overran the play a little bit, but he
- 22:50Speaker 2: was sort of trailing and he was sort of in
- 22:53Speaker 2: position to make a play on the football, but it
- 22:55Speaker 2: just sort of zipped in there and he sort of
- 22:57Speaker 2: got a hand on it as he was passing it by,
- 23:01Speaker 2: and then he hit Cameron Lotsu underneath. With mac McWilliams covering,
- 23:07Speaker 2: Andy Dalton goes to Danny Gray, who was sort of
- 23:11Speaker 2: running it look like a shallow drag route to the
- 23:15Speaker 2: left corner of the end zone. With mac McWilliams and coverage,
- 23:18Speaker 2: Danny caught that for a touchdown, and then on the
- 23:21Speaker 2: next play, Andy Dalton overshot Danny Gray in the right
- 23:25Speaker 2: corner of the end zone.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I believe that was Keiley Ringo in coverage there.
- 23:32Speaker 2: As far as standouts on the offensive side, I thought
- 23:35Speaker 2: Elijah Moore made the most of his opportunities. He caught
- 23:39Speaker 2: a flurry of passes, including the one that I told
- 23:41Speaker 2: you went for a twenty five thirty yard touchdown.
- 23:44Speaker 1: And he's an interesting.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Guy because Nick Sirianni has mentioned him before about his
- 23:48Speaker 2: ability to kind of separate.
- 23:50Speaker 1: He's shifty, He's had some productive seasons in the NFL.
- 23:53Speaker 1: He's bounced around a little bit.
- 23:55Speaker 2: But maybe, just maybe he's able to establish staying power
- 23:59Speaker 2: here in Philadelphia. But one would presume he's gonna have
- 24:02Speaker 2: to offer some kind of special teams upside to warrant
- 24:05Speaker 2: a roster spot or justify one.
- 24:08Speaker 1: But uh jalhen Hurts.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Hit him sort of in the middle of the field,
- 24:16Speaker 2: found the He found the saut spot in the zone
- 24:18Speaker 2: right in front of Drew mccuba, and Elijah Moore is
- 24:21Speaker 2: able to bring that one in. Then he goes to
- 24:25Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard, who's tagged short of the end zone by mccuba.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Probably the best catch of the day was on a
- 24:33Speaker 2: Tanner McKee ball where Hollywood Brown reached behind him and
- 24:37Speaker 2: extended to you on an intermediary throw to grab the pass,
- 24:42Speaker 2: and then he hits him again right after that short
- 24:45Speaker 2: left and that's where Maximus Pulley comes up to tag him.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Tanner McKee did overthrow Johnny Wilson on at first glance,
- 24:55Speaker 2: was a fade ball with Kashina a Capina gushikin, and
- 25:00Speaker 2: there Samori Torre came up with a touchdown reception with
- 25:11Speaker 2: undrafted rookie linebacker Deontay Lawson in coverage, and then Samori
- 25:17Speaker 2: Torre had sort of a quick out to the right
- 25:19Speaker 2: side for the two point conversion with Maximus Pulley in coverage.
- 25:25Speaker 1: He threw the left corner to Tank Bigsby, but I'm
- 25:29Speaker 1: talking about Tam McKee here.
- 25:30Speaker 2: He threw the right corner or the I'm sorry McKeith
- 25:33Speaker 2: throws to the left corner to Tank Bigsby, but cornerback
- 25:37Speaker 2: Ambry Thomas had him tightly defended and the pass was incomplete.
- 25:41Speaker 2: There wasn't a lot of space to fit that throw in.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And then practice ends on a touchdown to wide receiver
- 25:48Speaker 2: Hollywood Brown with undrafted rookie defensive back Copino Kashikin in coverage.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Practice covered nearly just shy, probably an hour and forty
- 25:59Speaker 2: five Irish minutes on this day, and then they'll have
- 26:03Speaker 2: one more mandatory mini camp practice tomorrow before breaking for
- 26:07Speaker 2: the summer.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Ahead of Eagles training camp.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That's gonna do it for this episode of The Checko
- 26:13Speaker 2: Dealy Andrew de Checko, We'll catch you all on the
- 26:16Speaker 2: next one.
