- 0:00Hello, Hello, Hello, Welcome back to another episode of gate Leapers,
- 0:04And as you can probably tell from the title of this episode, we are
- 0:07leaping back into the sitcom realm, this time with the seminal the Influential,
- 0:14the third adjective TV show that is thirty Rock, Tina Pha's masterpiece. Look,
- 0:21whether you've seen any thirty Rock or not, I think you'll really enjoy
- 0:25this episode. Our sitcom episodes always tend to be a bit looser, a
- 0:29bit more fun, and yeah this one, this one goes off the rails
- 0:33a few times, but in that way that we all love. And of
- 0:36course we were joined by two very special guest players. Returning guest one of
- 0:42my favorites, one of your favorites, Drew Shulman of the Carrying Wayward podcast.
- 0:47If you are a supernatural fan, you absolutely must must check out Carrying
- 0:52Wayward. Audra is a big fan and highly endorses the podcast, but she's
- 0:56not here to say that, so so I'm saying it on her behalf.
- 1:00But they are her words that I've heard come out of her mouth. So
- 1:03yes, Drew is on cracking form as usual. But we were joined by
- 1:07a new guest player as well. JP you may have seen him online at
- 1:12Jay Underscore Pantaloons on Twitter. He is a gate Leaper's super fan and just
- 1:18an all round positive and inspiring person. We had such a fun time recording
- 1:23with JP. He was an excellent guest player. He geeks out about thirty
- 1:26rock a ton just yeah, he gets gate Leapers. I mean he's maybe
- 1:30listened to all of the episodes, so maybe that's why. But he's still
- 1:34a fantastic player. It was an absolute riot to record with him. And
- 1:38look, if you listen to this, if you are a fan of gate
- 1:42Leapers and have been for some time, and you think, well, I
- 1:45could, I could play gate Leapers, I could come on this podcast,
- 1:49then get in touch gate Leapers at gmail dot com. Send me an email,
- 1:53just be like, hey, I want to be on the show.
- 1:55Here are fandoms that I like. And I mean, I'm bad at admin,
- 1:57but I'll make it happen. I'm good at making things happen. I'm
- 2:01terrible at admin, good at making things happen. So, speaking of making
- 2:06things happen, let's get to today's episode. Oh just before though, if
- 2:08you want episodes without this little preamble before it, this awkward part where it's
- 2:15not as fun or entertaining, then consider supporting us on Patreon. That's patreon
- 2:19dot com Forward slash Gate Leapers link in the show notes unless you like this
- 2:23bit. If you like this bit, then everything's backfired. And if you
- 2:28can't support us financially, there are other ways to support us too. Go
- 2:30back listen to old episodes. If this is your first time, welcome,
- 2:35We've got a whole archive of just I mean, look, at this point,
- 2:39it's seventy five hours of absolute madness. So if you enjoy this episode,
- 2:45please do check out our archive or share this episode with a friend with
- 2:49a thirty rock fan, someone in your life who loves sitcoms, games,
- 2:53trivia, that sort of thing. This will be the podcast for them.
- 2:55And I promise you, I promise you you will be able to waste seventy
- 3:00five plus hours at work just listening to this, Like don't you want to
- 3:05do that? Don't you want to just not do any work? Or like
- 3:07pretend like you're doing some work, but you're actually listening to some sort of
- 3:10pop culture based comedy trivia. Isn't that better than working? I mean,
- 3:15unless you work with like animals or something cool like that then then working is
- 3:19probably better than better than this. Okay, I'll get to it once again.
- 3:23Thank you so much to Drew and JP. They made this episode what
- 3:25it is and here it is. Join us as we leap into the fandom
- 3:30of thirty Rock. Hello, and welcome to gate Leapers, the pop culture
- 3:53game show that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master
- 3:59and Cable t Own CEO rival Matt Watson. But of course we couldn't play
- 4:03these games without our head writers and captains. First, I want to go
- 4:09to there. It's Ordra Stevenson. Hello, Yeah, you're my wife.
- 4:13It's wholesome, it's not creepy, and a man who lives every week like
- 4:17it's shark week. It's Jason. I get that reference. Nice, get
- 4:23hello. Captain's ready for a series of games about a sitcom that advanced women
- 4:27in comedy but also made everything really very matter. M Yes, I enjoyed
- 4:32this. Yes I no, I knew nothing about this, like nothing,
- 4:39and now I know very little. That's some. That's good. Yes.
- 4:44Yeah. My my my partner, who I'll introduce here later in the episode,
- 4:47was kind enough to give me like an episode list nice and so I
- 4:51hit some of those. I get it. I think I get it.
- 4:56I mean, that's good. You've done some research, Like you've gone from
- 4:58not knowing what thirty Rock was to now knowing a bit about it. I've
- 5:01grown, I think as a person. I think in previous gate Leapers episodes,
- 5:04I would have said, ah, fuck it, sure, but you
- 5:08know twenty twenty three you right, yeah, But now there's just so much
- 5:12good out there that we're just gonna be like, you know, maybe I'll
- 5:14give it a yeah. Me. I love thirty Rock. I've watched all
- 5:18of thirty Rock a couple of times, but it's been quite a while since
- 5:21my last watch through, and it's something that I had just like, oh,
- 5:26we'll watch this new show and we'll watch this new show. And before
- 5:29this episode, we watched a couple episodes of thirty Rock and I was like,
- 5:31oh, thirty Rock is so good. It is I'm very ready.
- 5:35Yeah good, it's good. Okay. Well, it sounds like the teams
- 5:39are currently a touch touch unbalanced, So to play these games about thirty Rock,
- 5:44you'll each need a bright eyed NBC page to help guide your way.
- 5:47Jason, who is your teammates today? He's a personal trainer who loves pop
- 5:53culture. It's oh god, waiting I have to do? Is reading?
- 6:08You could understand. It's literally one thing I do. I have to say
- 6:14the whole thing again, say the whole thing again, right, God damn
- 6:15it, it's one sentence. Shut up. He's a personal trainer who loves
- 6:19pop culture. It's Gaily superfan JP. Hello, JP, welcome to the
- 6:24podcast. Very very lucky, not lucky if Yeah, we're very lucky to
- 6:29have you and you don't know about yet. Well, right off the bat,
- 6:33JP, I've got to thank you for being such a strong supporter of
- 6:38this silly little podcast on Twitter. Your words really are genuinely encouraging in terms
- 6:43of when I'm feeling a little bit like can I be bothered to edit the
- 6:46final thirty minutes of this thing? No, there's there's people out there like
- 6:49JP who who say positive things. So that's that's really nice man. Thanks.
- 6:54Well, then giving me a lot of suppressfully like laughing, and I
- 6:58like bandoment even when I don't know things, it's pretty fun. Um.
- 7:01So yes, it's given me many hours of happiness and I'm just feel very
- 7:05fortunate to be here. Oh, thank you man. Yeah, okay,
- 7:11now it's a business. Now that now that we've got all the best about
- 7:14the way JP thirty Rock, are you a fan? Oh yeah, so
- 7:17I would have been a fan since the beginning. I've seen it a few
- 7:19times. I'm through. It's been a while. Like I just said,
- 7:23for her, the first few seasons, I feel it's like kind of like
- 7:27the Simpsons or any real fandom, you know, even if you're a hardcore
- 7:30fan. You know, like he's in one through five, and then it's
- 7:33like, yeah, I watched the last couple, but it's not I'm gonna
- 7:38go and rewatch season two through five. You know, Parks and Record thirty
- 7:42Rock or Posisions or even the office, you know. So it depends on
- 7:46where the questions come in. I feel pretty confident, but um, you
- 7:49asked some memory issues and names I'm not great with. So I had a
- 7:53friend of mine best, um, he's a thirty Rock fan, and so
- 7:57I throw me some questions and I felt pretty common, but it I couldn't
- 8:00get a suitable name. We do. I really love the show, fantastic,
- 8:07fantastic. I think you'll be a you'll be a good partner to pick
- 8:09up on Jason's maybe he's got plenty of enthusiasm but lack of knowledge. Jason,
- 8:15how many did you watch? How many episodes did you watch? I
- 8:18got to Tracy Tracy does Conan, which I freaking loved. So I think
- 8:22that's four or five episodes I got into. I gave him a lift of
- 8:28six that I said and see him one just to give him a flavor.
- 8:31Yeah, yes, yes, I'm very much the Tracy Jordan of this show.
- 8:35Aren't sure if you want to put that on yourself. Yeah, I
- 8:39don't know, Like I don't know if he murders someone, you know,
- 8:45his vibe, his vibe is me right, I don't know. Maybe hope
- 8:48not, Okay, Okay, I think I think you're going to be a
- 8:54very good team. And Ultra who is joining you? He a podcaster,
- 9:01voice actor, a graphic designer, and co host of the Carrying Wayward podcast.
- 9:05It's Everyone's favorite guest player. Drew Shulman. Hello, welcome back,
- 9:09Drew. Hello, Oh are you doing doing fantastic? I am very excited
- 9:16for this one. I to put a little bit of a shimmer of time
- 9:18on this. I just listened to the Parks and rec episode you released,
- 9:22not too long ago. Nice, So I feel like I'm kind of like
- 9:24in that mindset of like this style of show. Yes, sitcom episodes,
- 9:30they tend to be a bit looser, like no one's quite as we're not
- 9:33precious about lull or anything like that. They tend to be Lisa episodes for
- 9:37sure, So big big rock fan. Yeah, I remember watching it when
- 9:43it first aired, loving it. The wife and I did a rewatch several
- 9:46years ago, and it's one of those shows that just like anytime we kind
- 9:50of have like a moment that we were like reminded of a character or an
- 9:52episode, we have to go find the YouTube clip and rewatch it, which
- 9:56are usually some of Lizz's quotes or tracy moments. Yeah, definitely, definitely,
- 10:03And just a quick quick sidebar here. Since last we spoke Drew on
- 10:07this podcast, I believe you and Jason had a Pokemon battle and did absolutely
- 10:15to use the word spanked him. Is that rivalry going to continue today?
- 10:20Can we expect some some heat between the teams here? Oh? I haven't.
- 10:24I haven't considered that, but uh yeah, well that's unfair because part
- 10:28of me feels like you you laid out the challenge Jason, but I don't
- 10:31think Gabriels of enough time for how much I had time to prepare. So
- 10:35I feel like coming into this repeated again today, Drew, I don't know
- 10:41if I'm gonna be coming in hot and heavy but also unprepared, Like,
- 10:46how much prep did you do? Watch exceptions? What did I do?
- 10:48I'd watch the entire show right, all the scripts, had lunch with the
- 10:50cast. What about? Oh you didn't do all that? No, Oh,
- 10:54we'll see. We'll see how the rivalry goes. And we're still do
- 10:56for a Pokemon rematch one of these days when you're ready. Yeah, it's
- 11:00true, that's true. Okay, good, good to know. Okay,
- 11:03So we have our players, we have our teams, but our teams don't
- 11:07have good branding. So, as it's your first day as vice president of
- 11:11East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming, I'll need some snappy branding from each
- 11:16of you. A thirty rock themed team name. Please. Let's start with
- 11:20Jason and JP. A little inside. JP has pre sent me a list
- 11:28of names. I glanced over them. They're fantastic. Uh. What's the
- 11:31difference between precent and sense? Yeah, that's a good clarification. Sense free
- 11:43to the show show notes. Uh, they're great, but in regular fashion,
- 11:48I want to put some terrible names in the ring just because I think
- 11:50they're really funny to say. Let's say the ones we won't use. Yeah,
- 11:54when I have is twenty nine Rocks and one Big Boulder as a teammate.
- 11:58Okay, really it's a thirty rock. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't
- 12:03know why I was called thirty rock for like in my episode watching tons of
- 12:07Rocks in it. Yeah, I lovely show about geologists recently. Why it's
- 12:13called thirty rock? Uh? And then I did like this one the Blue
- 12:16Man Group, but that just sounds like the Blue Man Group, but it's
- 12:20like a reference to like Tracy does Conan, that little weird blue Man.
- 12:24He's yeah, it's not it's not. So we're gonna go with some of
- 12:26jps. Please okay, JP, please save the day please. I want
- 12:31to hear at least three more three the glove is down. Okay. So
- 12:39the four that I thought of, um, well, because it's Daily Birds.
- 12:41So I kind of thought Elie Day Williams, and I thought Delie Day
- 12:46Williams was a good name. Um. Yes, So the other one where
- 12:50Milf Island man, is that accurate, Jason, would you say, um,
- 12:56no, Milf Island men. We know how I feel as a person
- 13:01on no here at gate Leapers. We know how I feel about that,
- 13:03but I'm not going to further explain. So the other one I really like
- 13:07is the pose Man's um so if anyone's just fan. So there's this video
- 13:11where Jack tries to record and you know, introke for this type of add
- 13:16product places they want to do for their or you know, for the early
- 13:20show, and he says positive mentions or pause mans, And so I thought
- 13:24the pose man so I really good ones. And I think it's Jason's decision.
- 13:31I think it's my decision. I don't feel like pause men. I'm
- 13:33gonna go. This is Pauseman's also kind of easy to say during the quick
- 13:37fire runs. That is true. It is true. Yeah, let's move
- 13:41on. If it's Ultra and Drew, Okay, So I have one just
- 13:45because it is my favorite joke the show has ever made. Oh yes please.
- 13:48The only problem is it will be really annoying to yell during the lightning
- 13:52round. But I want to be the werewolf Farman's fuzz. It's good.
- 14:01Did you have anything please? Go anything else please. I have a couple.
- 14:09A couple of mine are good. A couple of mine are like mid
- 14:13Um. One that I really like is the Beeper Kings. Another good reference.
- 14:18Um, this one. It's it's just good God Lemon. I love,
- 14:24I love. It's such an iconic line. It's the boy he says
- 14:28it too good God, superte your name, but it makes it even better.
- 14:33Yeah, um, chuckle hut. Oh yeah, the laugh like the
- 14:39Last Factory. Yeah. And the TGS with Drew Shalman. Oh oh,
- 14:52it's like a thirty rock writer's room. You've got your choice of taxi.
- 14:54Oh wow. Um. I like the chocole huts a lot too, actually,
- 15:00but the Good God Lemons just sounds so fun. Werewolf far Mitzvah is
- 15:03one of my favorite things is all of the original songs in thirty Rock,
- 15:07and Werewolf bar Mitzvah is my favorite all of them. Are we the Good
- 15:13God Lemons or the were Wolf bar Mitzvah's which One's gonna be harder to yeldhill
- 15:22The decision here I do because I just come out with absolute nonsense. I'm
- 15:28trying to see what is the nonsense that might come out of me? When
- 15:31I try to like, I mean, good God, lemon is not bad
- 15:35because you could just be like good God, you know, and I could
- 15:37also Oh, year, wolf Farms, how are you howl? Howm accept
- 15:46that? I'm going I'm gonna throw my hat in for werewolf bar mitzvah,
- 15:52betting on Matt's goodwill by the time we come to the Okay, Okay,
- 15:56well we'll say how far I make it through this pint? Okay, So
- 16:02the Werewolf bum mitzvah. I think, yeah, it doesn't need to be
- 16:04the Werewolf bum mitzvah. Yeah. I think it's a collective down but we
- 16:10are Yeah, yeah, oh absolutely, yeah. The Posmen versus Werewolf bumb
- 16:15mitzvah be our boy band name. There you go, the Puzman, the
- 16:21pause Men at the Werewolf ar mitzvah. That's your first album. Oh my
- 16:25god, the pawf Men absolutely play'll do well on this show. JP.
- 16:32Oh all right, hey, if you're listening to this and thinking, well,
- 16:37I don't know anything about thirty Rock. I missed it when it was
- 16:41first on due to the two thousand and eight recession, and now we're approaching
- 16:44another recession, and I can't just if I a peacock subscription. Don't worry
- 16:48his order with a little segment we like to call passing knowledge. Thirty Rock
- 16:53is an American satirical sitcom created by Tina Fe that aired on NBC in two
- 17:00thousand and six to twenty thirteen. The series is based on Phay's experience as
- 17:03the head writer for Saturday Night Live, except instead of Lorne Michael's yelling in
- 17:08his ear, it's Alec Baldwin. But don't worry, ladies, he was
- 17:12not armed. You must be ruthless, you must be absolute. Remember always
- 17:18you are the exterminator phase. Liz Lemon and Baldwin's Jack Donneghie were often at
- 17:23odds with their liberal and conservative worldviews. So if you want to know who
- 17:27started this horrible and tedious culture war, it was conservatives in the nineteen eighties.
- 17:33But thirty Rock didn't help. If birth control pills fixed boners, you
- 17:37would get them free with your driver's license. And how do we know that
- 17:41God isn't a tree? Ladies and gentlemen, this is Elizabeth Lemon. Tracy
- 17:45Jordan, played by Tracy Morgan and Jenna Moroney are the two lead actors on
- 17:49the sketch show. Tracy is an outgoing, blissfully unaware, loose cannon.
- 17:55Jenna is true to herself, offbeat, and doesn't like it when she doesn't
- 17:59perform well. Mat I mean, Liz must wrangle. I see what you've
- 18:06done that? Why does he have a rolled up towel against the bottom of
- 18:07the door. It's so creepy, Jenna. I just want you to know
- 18:11that if we find any human remains in it, I'm gonna throw up all
- 18:15over your face. Thirty Rock one several Emmy's remains a cult hit and successfully
- 18:21predicted the direction of network television in the streaming age. It's remakes, reboots,
- 18:26and milk violence all the way down. This show is the worst.
- 18:30Didn't one of those MILFs die during production? She had too much champagne and
- 18:33a monkey knock. Turn it some quick sand. It could happen anywhere.
- 18:37So let's revisit this gag, a second character filled sitcom about television, a
- 18:41whole decade after it ended. That's right, you're now as old as Liz
- 18:45Lemon was at the start of the show. You'll never work for NBC.
- 18:48You'll never work for Lorne Michael all right or right on? A successful sitcom
- 18:52okay, or star in that stage. Right, that's enough. Okay,
- 18:56I get it. I get what you're saying. Thank you, Ultra.
- 19:00I hope that that caught everyone up on thirty Rock and my own shortcomings in
- 19:03the professional world. So moving on from that, just before we get to
- 19:10the games, I've asked each player to bring in a muse that's something that
- 19:14inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom. Even Tracy Jordan can
- 19:18be inspiring, like when he offered this advice. I'm going to say to
- 19:23you what I say to all my sharks right before they die. Let's go
- 19:26outside. So Audra, what's inspiring you from the world of thirty Rock?
- 19:33I am inspired by SuRie Xerox. Yeah, I normally consider I am more
- 19:41of a Liz Lemon, like I let people really get to me, like
- 19:45frazzled, Like I am good in my job, but I'm not going to
- 19:48really take care too awful much for my appearance. But I am going to
- 19:52people walk all over me. It's like a whole thing. Surree receptionist at
- 19:56thirty Rock. She is smart and how um does not give a shit.
- 20:02Yes, So I have brought in some examples In one of the episodes,
- 20:07there's a Halloween party and people are like, who are you? She's just
- 20:11in a Bikinian. She's like, I'm an Italian senator. I was not
- 20:14smart enough to understand the complex political satire that was at play at the time
- 20:19of this. There was a I think she was actually a member of parliament
- 20:25in Italy who was elected to represent a district, was a sex worker and
- 20:30was still making adult content with another member of parliament. So that is a
- 20:36very good joke. She is engaged to her partner and they're going to get
- 20:41married, and he keeps trying to apologize to her, but he wants to
- 20:45have a Greek Orthodox wedding, but she disagrees with the Greek Orthodox's church views
- 20:48on Cyprus, like the whole party. What's her tunity husband's job? Can
- 20:57you remember? Though it's not quite oh my gosh, throwing it out there.
- 21:07Oh, Ultra, you've filtered this to make her out like a genius.
- 21:11I really feel like this is history now. The other example that I
- 21:18had, I'm still gonna I'm gonna forge ahead with my argument because Sirie would
- 21:23right, she would what would do? There was one point in time when
- 21:27they're trying to like get her, like do you see this or like is
- 21:30it coming through? And she's like, well, light travels at one hundred
- 21:33and sixty eight seconds per whatever. I don't remember. I'm a scientist,
- 21:37but I should know. She's like, so, I don't know how fast
- 21:41I'm supposed to see this. She just knew that out of nowhere. Yeah.
- 21:45She is in a lot of ways very dumb. But in a lot
- 21:49of ways she's very smart. She doesn't let people push her around. She
- 21:53acts her wage, and I respect this in her, and I hope she
- 21:57acts her wage. Yes, and one day I hope to be that person.
- 22:06That's as that is a good news you've I mean, that's yeah,
- 22:10that's the nuance of the character. She's she's pretty intelligent despite the appearances and
- 22:15the stereotypes they give her. Um, yeah, let's let's hope it pays
- 22:19off for you channeling Surree because I wanted it to be Siri, and then
- 22:23I was like, no, every time I hear it. Every time I
- 22:26hear it, like because I went and listened SuRie. But then the second
- 22:30I read it, I'm like, Siri, the number of devices you've just
- 22:34triggered moving on to Alexa. No, okay, your teammates on Werewolf bar
- 22:45Mitzvah drew What's inspiring you from thirty Rock. I know it might be really
- 22:49cliche to go with a main character like Liz, but she is truly so
- 22:53inspirational, absolutely to be so good at her job and so funny and so
- 22:59on top of everything. Yet when she's not at work, she can be
- 23:03a little gremlin on the couch just eating cheese out of a bag. Yeah,
- 23:06that's what I want in life. I want to be successful outside and
- 23:10then when I come home, I want to close the lights, gender a
- 23:11blanket for and just eat cheese and watch garbage TV. Yea, everything I
- 23:15want in life. She's living the dream. She's living my dream. Yeah,
- 23:23she's a fantastic character. Was just one of the best sitcom characters of
- 23:27all time. I think the amount she did as like a leading woman,
- 23:32Like I looked back at the history of sitcoms as like a little refresher thing
- 23:34for this, and it's like, there are leading women in sitcoms in the
- 23:40years between things like I Love Lucy and The Married Salamshaw all the way up
- 23:44to thirty Rock, but they're always moms. That's all they are. They're
- 23:47just mothers. No disrespect to mothers. But for forty years straight, that's
- 23:51all women were allowed to be in leading roles in sitcoms. And for then
- 23:55like Tina fair To come along right star, produce everything. She's just she's
- 24:00an inspiration in front of and behind the camera, phenomally well said, Yes,
- 24:04fantastic mused Drew Love, Tina Fey Love, Les Lemon. Let's move
- 24:08on over to your opponents, the Paul's man. Let's begin with the actual
- 24:12thirty Rock fan. Let's begin at JP. What's inspiring you from thirty Rock?
- 24:18Uh? Unless Jason will I mean, you can't shake the same one,
- 24:22because I'm gonna stay first. I didn't put a list out there.
- 24:25So Lea William is going to be my inspiration. He's my favorite character beautiful
- 24:30on Therapy Rock and it's probably one of the best. It's not my favorite
- 24:33episode, but definitely one of the best episodes. And you know, for
- 24:37those who don't know, there was a holiday that was invented called, you
- 24:41know, a Leisa Holiday. Least is not Holiy that's invented that they invented
- 24:44the way that everybody celebrates it and the joke was that Liz was sick one
- 24:48year and then four years later something else happened, so she had no idea.
- 24:52And the main character of leap Day is Leide william a man who comes
- 24:55from the sea and had gills and if you cry in front of him,
- 24:59he'll throw tappy at your feet. Anyway, the whole the whole idea is
- 25:03like lead day, like that one extra day to do something good or to
- 25:07kind of have like an extra little whatever. And it treated as like a
- 25:11positive and I thought that's kind of cool, but just HILARI. So I
- 25:15think we say Williams were the same age. So I think that's that's good.
- 25:23That's that's good. It's it is a good gag. It's a good
- 25:26bit. But also yeah, a good sentiment live every day like its leap
- 25:30Day. I think it is a good, good little sentiment. There,
- 25:32I've said it. Now, let's hope it's a inspiration, yeah, and
- 25:36that people get behind it as a thing. You don't have to stay I'd
- 25:40also rather stay at home and just watch trashy TV and eat cheese. That's
- 25:44that's also what I would rather do. Um, okay, what I want
- 25:47to do with my leap day. That's true. That's true, and you
- 25:48should all get together on leap Day and just eat cheese. Oh fantastic in
- 25:52our planket. Yes. And finally, Jason, you need to iraq.
- 25:59But if you found a mute, is this something that inspires you? I
- 26:00almost have zero to this show. I haven't like watched enough to connect with
- 26:07it in that deep way. However, one of my first touchstones to this
- 26:11show prior to actually watching it in preparation of this episode was this YouTube series
- 26:17called Binging with Babbish, And so, for those who don't know, Binging
- 26:19with Babbish is a YouTube channel where he takes or he used to take foods
- 26:23from pop culture or TV shows or television and try to recreate it. So
- 26:27like famously he tried to what does the crabby patty actually taste like in real
- 26:32life? And it evolved into a show where he just kind of taught people
- 26:36how to cook and like the methodology behind cooking, and so he's kind of
- 26:38like the modern day Alton Brown. But I find it more accessible and really
- 26:42like his channel is where I found my love for cooking and the courage to
- 26:48cook new things as well. Nice. So that's my Touchstone to thirty Rock
- 26:52because he has an episode where he creates the Liz Lemon, which, for
- 26:56memory, is a specific sandwich that she orders, which, from also memory,
- 27:00is a pretty basic New York sandwich from what I also understand. Yeah,
- 27:06maybe that's neither here nor it's a basic New Yorker. Yeah, I
- 27:08think that's like part of the joke is like that's it's her sandwich and it's
- 27:11the most like generic sandwich everyone orders. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:17getting confused, like I'm confusing because as a sandwich. Oh yeah, and
- 27:22I think it's a horrible sandwich, but she only eats it because its named
- 27:26after her. Yea, I think, But I think lizard really and lizard
- 27:30is really basic, right, but I can't remember what it is. It's
- 27:34something like just it's essentially a Ruben, I think, Oh yeah, I
- 27:38think it is. I think it literally is just a Rubens. So that's
- 27:45not basic, thank you, it's I mean, you can also be basic
- 27:49things get major market penetration because they're good. Also, is the Ruben named
- 27:55after someone named Reuben? Maybe that's also I don't know. I've lived here
- 27:57for five years now and I haven't asked yet, and I'm too afraid too.
- 28:07I mean, it's like we learned in third grade here. I'm not
- 28:10sure what John Rubens and his amazing basis sandwich a compliment. Tell me that
- 28:22Matt grew up in a place that taught him how to make tea and me
- 28:25it was just maple syrup. So really yeah yeah, so yeah, um
- 28:30I although I was friends with the earl of Sandwich, that's a that's another
- 28:33story, right, teams, those are some fantastic muses. I love the
- 28:37inspiration in the air. But now it is your first day on the job,
- 28:41so let's have Kenneth guide us into the madness that is Round one.
- 28:52Round one is called really fake show, Really fake. That's a seventy year
- 28:57old reference. I just felt like I could because thirty Rock is full of
- 29:02old TV references. Yeah, it really is. It's it's absolutely is.
- 29:07I love it. It's a love letter to TV history. Thirty Rock is
- 29:11known for its parodies and satires of real TV shows and movies, and I
- 29:15want to know if our players can recognize them hidden amongst some real shows and
- 29:21some really fake shows. Yeah, yeah, let's do it. So I'll
- 29:26give our teams a list of three shows each with a similar theme. They
- 29:30then have to identify which one is a thirty Rock joke, which one is
- 29:36from real life TV or movies, and which one was made up by me
- 29:41two seconds ago. And that's literally impossible. So potential three points per question
- 29:48here if you can get them in the right order, three lists per team.
- 29:51We'll go back and forth between the teams. Are we ready? Let's
- 29:55do it. We'll begin with the pus men. Here are your three games,
- 30:00hots Breakers, deal Breakers, ice Breakers. Okay, deal Breakers is
- 30:11clearly one from thirty Rock, right, So what are the other two?
- 30:14Again? Clearly? Yes? Okay, you can trust your teammate on that
- 30:18one. Yeah, she said that scares me if the gay show or like
- 30:22a talk show in a book. Um the other one though, So the
- 30:27other two are hots Breakers and ice Breakers. I feel like they're both real
- 30:34shows. Yeah, I feel pretty strong about Jay said. I feel Heartbreakers
- 30:38is for sure a show. Right. I'm on the fence with them.
- 30:42So all I know is I'm writing about the thirty Rock one. Okay,
- 30:47thro Knowlledge is down. Thank you, JP. We got one point.
- 30:49JP knows thirty Rock. We now need you to know, Matt, I
- 30:56was going to study out for this, and I was like, I don't
- 30:57need to know thirty Rock. I just need you know, like what the
- 31:00masters serve. You just need to know all of pop culture history. Yeah,
- 31:11I'm gonna go with JP's guy. I do feel like Heartbreakers is a
- 31:14show too. I know it's it's kind of in the love game show type
- 31:18of situation. Icebreakers could easily be it. But so you're saying we're gonna
- 31:22go Heartbreakers. Deal Breaker is the Iraq Heartbreaker is the real show, and
- 31:26Icebreakers is the one I made up. Yeah, three for three, three
- 31:30points right out of the gates. Wow, Yes, Heartbreakers is a real
- 31:37twenty eighteen mini series about a pasta who has an affair. What's my favorite
- 31:45rom com? Oh it's It's Gaga Minute with those real things we all experienced
- 31:51growing up in a church um and Icebreakers. Yet I just tried various breakers
- 31:56for things that hasn't been made yet. So if you want to make a
- 31:59showbreak it's just so close. It was so close. That's why it was
- 32:01so good itself. Yeah. Yeah, Okay, let's move on over to
- 32:06Werewolf bar Mitzbah. Here is your first list call of Jury Runaway Jury,
- 32:14All the rural Jura. So I know I know the real one. Okay,
- 32:20I know Rural Juror is. Um, that's the thirty Rock one.
- 32:24Yeah, equal to Urban Fervor. I don't remember that one. I remember,
- 32:30Um, I remember coming up a lot and herd I'll be able to
- 32:32say it properly, just the super head of her going and the interview where
- 32:42you can't understand dammit, did heard her? And then call of Jury is
- 32:50just so fake but such a Matt joke to make, so it has to
- 32:52be the fake one. Yeah, And I do think I remember Runaway Jury.
- 32:57I remember I remember Runaway Bride, So do I Runaway Jury? I
- 33:02know Runaway Jury sounds more plausible than call of Jury being a parody of call
- 33:07of Duty. So come on, don't doubt the TV industry like that.
- 33:13Oh no, don't worry. I just say, is it a complimentary insult
- 33:17that I think it's more likely than the TV. It's definitely a compliment from
- 33:22my perspective. I don't know how listeners would feel about that. So we
- 33:25think so Rural Juror is from thirty Rock. Uh, Runaway Jury is a
- 33:30real show, and call of Jury you made up? That is also spots
- 33:36on. Why three points. I also can't say the word jury anymore.
- 33:38It's a losing meaning. Yeah, absolutely, where I knew what you were
- 33:44saying, and I kept waiting, I'm like, I know one of them.
- 33:52Yes, Runaway Jury is a real film based on a John Grisham novel,
- 33:58and we all know the Rural Jura is based on a Kevin Grisham novel.
- 34:04And yeah, Cold of Jewry It just yeah, but spot one.
- 34:09Okay, back on over to the pause. Man, here is your next
- 34:14list. America's Kids Got Singing, Global Idol Superstars or Connecticut's Top Country Star.
- 34:24Okay, I know the thirty rap one is the first one. First,
- 34:32America's Kids Got Singing? Yeah, Yeah, that's the thirty rap one?
- 34:36So what are the other two? Again? You have Global Idol Superstars
- 34:42or Connecticut's Top Country Starr. Are these purported to be like American television shows?
- 34:49That sounds like it's that a Japanese show or something where yes, I
- 34:55was thinking the exact same thing. He's sad I would rule out. I
- 35:00would go for the next one being the real one. Yeah, only in
- 35:02the light of if it's a weird translation. But what do you feel dacent
- 35:06you want to roll. Honestly, I don't even need to Matt to explain
- 35:07if it's all American ones. I so solidly agree because I was thinking the
- 35:12exact same thing. I'm watching a lot of physical one hundred. I'm not
- 35:15that much into K dramas, but I think the same thing where it's like
- 35:19that could a real show, just translated differently. So it's first, let
- 35:23the other ones, the Connecticut one. I feel like that's too niche.
- 35:28Okay, no, no, but I think I think Matt would do that
- 35:30because it's funny to Audra because she's from what Connecticut is Connecticut? Where is
- 35:37Connecticut? Yeah, I had no idea. You do have an excuse tream,
- 35:43Yeah, the same one I had. I'm a West Coast kid my
- 35:45back. I live in Michigan, and when I live in the Army,
- 35:50like three years ago or whenever, everybody you always thought Minnesota or Missouri,
- 35:54and they I don't know what it is. It was like a blind spot.
- 35:58There's a lot of a lot of them states. There are a lot
- 36:00of m states. Absolutely. Okay, So all right, so we're saying
- 36:04the first one is thirty yep, the second one is made up the third
- 36:07one is real. No, no, I think the second one is real.
- 36:12Right, Sorry? Yeah, yeah, So you're saying Global Idol Superstars
- 36:15is real. Yeah, Connecticut's Top Country Star is fake. Yeah, I'm
- 36:21gonna I'm gonna be handing out one point. You have identified the thirty rock
- 36:25but Global Idol Superstars is fake. There was a show called Global Idol,
- 36:30and there was a show called Global Superstars, but no show called Global Idol
- 36:34Superstars, and Connecticut Country Star is real. It ran for one season,
- 36:38all right. I feel like after the American Idol craze, like everyone tried
- 36:43to do their version of it, so I'm not shocked that it's real.
- 36:45Yeah, it was definitely like mid to late two yea. All right,
- 36:51all right, but Canada tried it. You would say, oh, it
- 36:53was going to be an American show. I think that would have pushed me
- 36:55over. Yeah, but I just want Jason. I was loving this,
- 37:02this, this the positive energy, you know. Yeah, it was good.
- 37:07We've got one point. Yeah, I'm happy, but absolutely Okay,
- 37:12let's have another list for Werewolf bom mitzvah homophone homonym or no homo No.
- 37:22I feel like I can remember them pitching Homophones to Tracy or Tracy pitching it
- 37:28to them. I think I have a memory of Homophones. I don't know
- 37:34whether it was from a sketch show or from this, but I do think
- 37:37Homophones might be thirty Rock. Yeah, I think so too. No Homo
- 37:44I can't imagine being a real show. But then again, America is a
- 37:47thing. I feel like it might be a real show. I think No
- 37:52Homo. You know, if I wasn't here, I'd be watched in Milk
- 37:55manor with my wife right now. That is a very good point. The
- 38:00Milk Manner is an actual show now. So I almost I had to just
- 38:04not include it in this game because I was like, it's going to be
- 38:07so obvious because it's on right now. So we're saying, No Homo is
- 38:12a real show, and Homophones is the thirty Rock show. Yes, and
- 38:16then whichever one the other one was is fake. He's saying homonym is fake?
- 38:21Is the one I made up? Yeah? Yes, Okay, I'm
- 38:23going to be handing out one point because the real one is No Homo.
- 38:29That is a real, horrible straight to TV movie from twenty fifteen. That
- 38:34is just just a homophobic premise as you would assume it has no but it's
- 38:38homonym is the thirty Rock oneophone is the one that's completely made up. It's
- 38:44homonym is the game show that they play. You've remembered it, right.
- 38:46It is a sketch, but I've tricked you up there. So one point
- 38:49there, David. They're getting harder, all right. I got one final
- 38:53list of media properties for each team's head on back over to the pause.
- 38:58Men, dark and stolemy pawn Police, coffee and Kareem. Oh oh,
- 39:07black cup, white cup. Okay, I feel pretty confident on this.
- 39:13That to me, the third one strange thirty rock joke. I know the
- 39:16second one is an actual movie I watched, so that one is pretty what
- 39:22it's a I was thinking coffee with Kareem was real, just because like Kareata
- 39:28bul Jabbar would try to do coffee with comedians. Coffee and Kareem. I
- 39:32think ed Helms is in and if it's not that one, I'm gonna feel
- 39:36really embarrassed. But um, I mean, what was the first one,
- 39:39Matt? The first one was dark and stormy, pawn Police. Yeah,
- 39:45I feel like that face only because the third one, I guess it could
- 39:47be the one or three. But that seems like such a thirty rock.
- 39:51Yo, what was it? White white back? Almost black cup, white
- 39:55cup. That's a Tracy that's a Tracy Jordan movie. I just watched this
- 40:00episode, right, And then there's also Honey, Grandma, watch, Let's
- 40:08do it. Let's do it. Okay, So you've got black cup,
- 40:13white cup is now okay? First one's fake. Yeah, coffee and Kareem
- 40:17is real? Black Cup, white cup rock. That is spot on JP.
- 40:22That is excellent niche Netflix knowledge of an ant Helm's movie from twenty twenty
- 40:28God, the pressure is on quick fun fact. Actually was a producer on
- 40:37Veronica Mars and Roading episode. Oh there's a weird spect about him for the
- 40:40day, a bit of Kareem knowledge, and that episode was called Coffee with
- 40:44Kareem En. That's what we were talking about. I didn't put the guy.
- 40:51Why did I not? Oh? Good stuff there, Mars there it
- 41:00is the final list. The Wywolf Bomb, Mitzvah, Hunchbacks, Swamp Monsters,
- 41:07two and a half, Headless Horseman. Can I get the first two?
- 41:15Again? I was? So we have we have it's a little it's
- 41:22a little Crypti themed. It's it's themed for Drew and carrying Waywood and Supernatural.
- 41:27There you go, Hunchbacks, swamp monsters, or two and a half
- 41:31Headless Horseman, Audrew. Do you have an inkling on any of these?
- 41:35No? I have no inklings. Okay, I feel like if if one
- 41:39of them had to be a real show, I could see like the History
- 41:44Channel doing a swamp monster show. So that's my bet for the real one.
- 41:50Hundless Yeah, two and a half Headless Horsemen just seems so out there,
- 41:54but it could still work. But I could also see hunchbacks being a
- 41:58sketch on their show of just like a recurring hunchback of Notre Dame joke.
- 42:02Oh, actually, now that I say it, I think it is.
- 42:06Maybe we'll go with that. If you have any memory of it, it
- 42:08is better. I can. I can see Jenna like with a hunchback like
- 42:13costume for some reason. If this is wrong, it's gonna be so weird.
- 42:17Oh God, I'm gonna be it's gonna be weird. If it's right,
- 42:22it's gonna be weird. If it's wrong, I think we just gotta
- 42:23we could just agree. It's all very way, it isn't it. I
- 42:25think the saddest part is I have to say that the two and a half
- 42:28Headless Horseman is fake, and that really makes me sacks. I want to
- 42:30see that now. I want to watch two and a half headless. If
- 42:32it's fake, that's so funny. Man. If it's if it's not yours,
- 42:37that's also very funny. But I could see it being your joke,
- 42:40and that just gets here. Okay, So I think I've got your your
- 42:45line up here, your answers. You're saying, hunchbacks is the ir rock
- 42:49yep, you're saying swamp monsters is real, well, yep. And two
- 42:52and a half Headless Horseman is a very funny joke that everybody loved. That
- 42:59was pretty much you got all three. Yeah. I watched Sam and Deane
- 43:05fight the two and a half hand those horsemen next time. Just the half
- 43:08one is just this little little cute guy. Um oh yeah, it's half
- 43:15half yeah, because you've lost the head so he's only half manly. When
- 43:25they have the drawing of a centaur and then Tom had it repainted him,
- 43:30I got part and then and he said that the pants behind the front legs
- 43:36or the back or the front arms or the back, that's such a good
- 43:40there's ns like Carrie, I'm like, God, is this a crossover episode?
- 43:47Way? And yes, Swamp Monsters drew almost exactly spotned. I think
- 43:52it's a discovery. Maybe not history, but it's definitely It's one of those
- 43:55type shows. When you said that I want to hold back I was thinking
- 44:00of I thought you were. You were absolutely correct too. I'm thinking of
- 44:04river monsters though, is it That's what I think I was thinking of.
- 44:08Yeah, exactly. And of course hunchbacks. I think it's when Jack's trying
- 44:13to come up with programming that it's during the whole Twilight thing of like werewolves
- 44:16and vampire as a populace, and let's try and make hunchback sexy. They
- 44:22should have gone mummies. I'm telling you, mummies can be sexy. Yeah,
- 44:24absolutely plenty to unwrap that one. Unlike my copy, that wasn't scripted.
- 44:36Okay, that's the end of round one. This is scripted. Let's
- 44:37take a look at what Frank's post ironic hat text is this week. It
- 44:42says scores time, and those scores are it's all tied the pasmtor on seven
- 44:47were Wolf Barmitzvah also on seven. Oh, I'm liking that. Okay.
- 44:54Up next is round two, But first we have to cut to our first
- 44:59set of ads. Ads drive this business lemon, getting someone to buy something
- 45:02they don't need based on a few lines of copy. That's real art.
- 45:06See you after this. Round two is called flash fiction. Thirty Rock is
- 45:16known for its joker second scripts, carefully crafted over a six month period in
- 45:22a professional writer's room. However, we'll be doing none of that today.
- 45:28In this game, I'll be asking our teams to compose a synopsis for a
- 45:31brand new episode of thirty Rock The Twist. They have to compose that synopsis,
- 45:36one word at a time, back and forth until they've reached a satisfying
- 45:40conclusion to their little piece of flash fiction. I'll give each team a word
- 45:45to start from, and they'll have a few minutes to say words back and
- 45:49forth until they compose a plot synopsis. Oh and I have a random word
- 45:52generator right here in principle, so I'll give you a bonus point if you
- 45:58can also include that word somewhere within your fiction. Oh yeah, totally optional.
- 46:02You don't have to, but it's it's there for a bonus point.
- 46:06If anybody listening to the show is not a Patriot subscriber, and they want
- 46:10an excuse to do it. To watch Audra's body language in the moment of
- 46:15described I've just get so stressed, Like I hate to put you on the
- 46:23spot, but it was so good. It's just I just turned to you
- 46:29and I don't know if you saw it, but I just robbed. I'm
- 46:31so sorry. I've done this before. I'm ready. Yeah. Each team's
- 46:37got a got a strong, strong improviser for sure, and I'm JP and
- 46:40new to the game, but I'm sure you'll do well. Yeah, Ultra,
- 46:45I gut panic in an entertaining way. Yeah, that's that's my that's
- 46:49my brand. It's less stressful than I think I make it out to be.
- 46:54Oh yeah, we would all like in all seriousness, yes, it
- 46:58absolutely is. Yeah, we'd be supportive of any word that comes out of
- 47:00your mouth. But no, let's begin with the pause. Men. Okay,
- 47:07um, your first word. The first word that you're going to start
- 47:12from is Liz okay, and Jason will then pick up from that, and
- 47:15then it will go to JP and back and forth. But the word to
- 47:19try and include at some point, I'm going to generate it now, lemon
- 47:22is if only imagine if out of all of the words in the English language,
- 47:28that's what it came up with me. The word is the word is
- 47:32pretty interesting. The word is tight. So the word is tight, and
- 47:38the starting word is Liz. Okay, take it away whenever you're ready.
- 47:42Jason Lemon discover Jack and cancer. Lemon discovers that Jack had discovers Jack has
- 47:55cancer and tight. There it is. What's that word tight? And what?
- 48:07Oh Mike, no, no tight? The word that that? Oh
- 48:10yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely no, no, no worries. Liz
- 48:15Lemon discovers Jack has cancer and tight. He screwed you over. I'm knock
- 48:25to the first word that comes to mind. Police, I don't know.
- 48:29I could do this. I could do this and started in a round and
- 48:32schedule. That's good. I always try to make them save butts a full
- 48:39stop jointing you sentence. So yeah, sure, yeah, going period.
- 48:44Yep. She decided to recruit Tracy two. Give doctor speckman. Yes,
- 48:58I'll take it. I'll take it. Whizz uh cyril in Uh, who's
- 49:07it? What's it? Archer? Yes? Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
- 49:09um do you give doctor's face man a a nice ante. Okay,
- 49:16that's your time. Okay, you're thirty rock flots and up. This is
- 49:22this Liz Lemon discovers Jack has cancer and tight schedule. She decides to recruit
- 49:29Tracy to give doctor Specheman antidote or are you too he needed medicines? I
- 49:49get so happy that I would really if he can pull up Doctor's faith man
- 49:52from watching those days. Point all right, look out of Look, I'm
- 50:00going to knock a couple marks off for the grammar, but out out of
- 50:06five points, I'm gonna give you three points. But I'm also going to
- 50:07give you the bonus point for getting getting tight in there. So four points.
- 50:10Yes, yeah, not anywhere would normally put the words tie schedule well
- 50:22with bar mitzvah. Are you ready? I'm feeling great. I'm good.
- 50:27You did good. You can chill now. Okay, So the starting word
- 50:30the order is going to pick up from is Tracy. So that is the
- 50:36first word there. And the random word that I will now randomly generate,
- 50:39just genuinely proving that I'm doing this randomly. Yeah, is the word owner
- 50:45owner. I hardly know her now something. Oh no, So whenever you
- 50:54are ready, order to pick up from Tracy find out that his worth it
- 51:10um dog nice secretly has I didn't know if you could hear that. So
- 51:23I heard it. I'm so tended to use it. Another owner feeds him
- 51:38while jogging. The feeds while jogging. Would you like into the sentence,
- 51:44yes, yes, it's not you sentence aldra grizz, griz lovely What was
- 51:52the word grizz? One of Tracy's bodyguards chases the other owner. You don't
- 52:06get double points, I can't. You can't trying out of town, beautiful,
- 52:16there's your there's your episodes. Enough says right there here it is.
- 52:21Tracy finds out that his dog secretly has another owner who feeds him while jogging.
- 52:27Grice chases the other owner out of town. That's actually a really good
- 52:32I'm mad at how good of an idea. It's pretty solid. Like I
- 52:37can't remember if Tracy has a dog at any point, but I like dog.
- 52:40But just imagine him getting jealous because when the dogs going to the bath
- 52:45room like a job or maybe talking to me and on him, it's not
- 52:51just a random passer by giving food to a cute dog. He thinks it's
- 52:53like a secret, like he's a supercon owner. There we go. Yeah,
- 53:00perfect he's a good he's a good episode idea. I think we're gonna
- 53:02up the anti I'm gonna give I'm gonna i mean, four points out of
- 53:07five then plus the plus the bonus point. I'm not gonna give you the
- 53:09bonus point twice for getting the word in twice. That's good. It's a
- 53:14good effort though, of course, of five points there to wear wolf bum
- 53:17mitzvah. Very fair. But hey, look, we're all about second chances
- 53:22here. I mean, I don't know if we are. I've just said
- 53:23it now, maybe we're not. Um, So we're gonna have another pass
- 53:28each to come up with a synopsis and a bit of flash fiction. So
- 53:30let's move back on over to the pos men. Your first word this time
- 53:37is the word disaster. Oh so, disaster is going to be the starting
- 53:43word, and your bonus words generated randomly right now? Vessel, terrible,
- 53:50vessel, I'm so sorry. That's a roughin so JP, you're gonna kick
- 53:58this one off following on from disaster whenever you're ready struck exclamation mark perfect,
- 54:07okay, nice um and liz An a n oh and no, just just
- 54:20the word like a but oh oh uh uh yeah, it's not. It's
- 54:30not another Parks and Bright crossover. I get it now, I get it
- 54:32now. Uh? And vessel is it? Uh? And uh? What
- 54:44are words that? What's the one English I have to start with? Okay?
- 54:51Uh? An alien? Hold on? I can't use that because you
- 54:55just said and ant eater? Okay and antia broken broken? Uh thirty thirty
- 55:17another exclamation point, very shouting. Episode synopsis of us. But you got
- 55:22another sentence? One more sentence? Okay? Uh? Uh? Another character
- 55:29who's Kenneth see saying? Kenneth? Yeah, Kenneth learn his rat catching.
- 55:39I like it? What rat catching? Is that a reference to something?
- 55:46I'm taking it? Okay, rat his rat catching? Come on? Okay
- 55:55his rat catching? Does it make any sense? Vessel? Vessel? All
- 56:00right? Will will catch catch anteater? We've done it. I mean,
- 56:15how big is this rat catching vessel? Yeah? That's the much more humorous
- 56:22way to look at it. Thank you, Joe. Your episode synopsis for
- 56:27this fantastic episode of thirty Rock is disaster has struck an antiter has broken into
- 56:32thirty Rock. Kenneth learns his rat catching vessel will catch the antiter. I
- 56:40love it, ant eaters. I would watch that episode in a heartbeat.
- 56:44I love that that was the exact kind of chaos that I reward well on
- 56:50this show. I'm going to hand out another four points with the bonus point
- 56:53for the use of the word vessel, for five points total. There for
- 56:57the buzz men. I mean, I'm in fun. I just forgot how
- 57:05grammar works. I was like, what proceeds? What's end? Succeeds an
- 57:09end? Yeah, it's the English language. It's the worst language. It's
- 57:23got a bit, gotta be a vowel and a verb. It's gonna be
- 57:29two. Also from the show Good Reference Soldier, Um okay. One final
- 57:37plot synopsis from Werewolf bumts for Last Chance that points in this round, your
- 57:42first word that you'll be starting from and following on from Drew is love.
- 57:47So love will be the first word you have there and the word randomly generated
- 57:52that you must include shower. So U yeah, love is I can't just
- 58:07say patient. But it's your's your it's your improgram in the air. Oh
- 58:20do you also want an exclamation point? Yes? Okay, tonight, swap
- 58:28it out? Are we having? Love is in the air? Tonight?
- 58:32Love is in the air? Ellipses or exclamation mark or both? Got yeah,
- 58:36got yeah, got yeah. Yeah. Tonight's Jenna. We haven't used
- 58:42Jenna. Jenna falls four her shower repairman. I was trying to psychically see
- 58:59I was doing the same don't you worry one more sentence? He secretly loves
- 59:10only shower. Yes, it's just the greatest refixing of the format. And
- 59:20then as Adre gets stuck on the org, She's just like, when when
- 59:25this word say showers, do you call you calling it on that called time?
- 59:30Even I was really starting butts for the last word. Okay, love
- 59:42is in the air. Tonight Jenni falls for her shower repairman. He secretly
- 59:50loves only showers. That sounds very dirty rock. That sounds like a website
- 59:55I subscribe to only showers. Oh they've got a filter on their shower heads.
- 1:00:01Oh my god, shower headed baths power. Yeah, it's not being
- 1:00:10sexible, it's just people showing the shower heads. Just actually good interior design.
- 1:00:15I think that at one point in time, Tracy has a magazine on
- 1:00:20his table that's just one hundred best buckets. It's just his bucket list,
- 1:00:29the best that is so good. So it fits the vibe. It's the
- 1:00:35right, Okay, I'm I'm gonna go just reading out loud. It was
- 1:00:39very funny in the moment, reading out loud not show how well it is
- 1:00:44done competed to the other. I'm gonna have three points plus the bonus point
- 1:00:47for that one. That's a four points total out for possible sex. I
- 1:00:52think we're still tied up. Yep, I think we are. Oh man,
- 1:00:55I didn't need to steal your lightning. No, no, you could
- 1:00:59know you listen, JP, you've listened to a fair few episodes of gate
- 1:01:02Leapers. I think I think you know what kind of tricks I'm playing here.
- 1:01:06I'm intentionally tying it up to make it more tense. What's liar?
- 1:01:12Okay, that is the end of the round. Let's ask Josh or Danny
- 1:01:15or one of the other Pointless cast members to deliver the latest scores. Seriously,
- 1:01:21did they ever do anything good in the show? I don't know.
- 1:01:22Okay, the Puzman on sixteen points well with barmits, but also on sixteen
- 1:01:29points, it's still tied the bonus points hung up on the words. Up
- 1:01:43next is round three, and we'll just be playing a normal trivia game and
- 1:01:46absolutely nothing weird will happen. I promise, but we'll be right back after
- 1:01:51this ad aimed at the elderly. Round three is called Leite Gapers. It's
- 1:02:02the NBC Universal Family Commission spinoff game show of the not so successful podcast gate
- 1:02:08Leapers. For this game, they hired someone to pose for us, a
- 1:02:14leite gaper, if you will, someone who is elite at a well,
- 1:02:19you know, god, no, I think it just occurred to me.
- 1:02:23Here is my crude drawing. Oh, you are ridiculous. I can't read
- 1:02:34it, but so don't worry, JP, don't worry, JP. I've
- 1:02:37got you. I've got you. So in turn, I will ask our
- 1:02:40teams to pick a word from the leite Gaper board. It'll transpond to an
- 1:02:46IMDb style trivia question that I have here with a very simple question, very
- 1:02:52simple answer. Um, you can choose between the word on the left cheek,
- 1:02:55the right cheek, the left thigh, the right thigh, and the
- 1:03:00left hand or the right hand. And finally, after all six questions are
- 1:03:05answered, our teams will go head to head deep inside the whole of knowledge
- 1:03:09with one final question for both teams. So you know, it's a really
- 1:03:15crazy thought that I had to Yeah, as if NBC actually made a lead
- 1:03:19gaper show, which they never will, but if they would, I would
- 1:03:22watch the ship out of it because I'd be like, who's the Jason on
- 1:03:24this? Who they cast for? Jason? Really vain in that way?
- 1:03:29Yeah, yeah, about I could probably be so happy, I kind of.
- 1:03:40So we'll begin with the pause. Men, your words that correspond each
- 1:03:45to a question are clothes, photo, Disney, audition, absent, or
- 1:03:54marriage. I think I like Disney just because I know I feel like I
- 1:04:00know we picked one and that reveals a question or the words going to need
- 1:04:04to answer to that. No, they will just reveal a question. It's
- 1:04:09just thematic to a question. Yeah, he'd the ask man go with them,
- 1:04:14all right, Yes, you reveal a lot on this podcast, Jason.
- 1:04:19I'm not gonna lie. Okay, so you are going you are going
- 1:04:24with the question on the left thigh. But by the way, if anyone's
- 1:04:28not picking up, this is me trying to do a thirty rock style skit
- 1:04:30in the form of a gate leaper's round, just for any listeners at home.
- 1:04:32I don't just like drawing gaping anuses. Okay, So, but I
- 1:04:38assume he had to practice at some point today. I did rub it out
- 1:04:42a few times away. It's on a white board. Okay, your question
- 1:04:50from the left, I relating to Disney. Scott adds it. Who plays
- 1:04:54producer Pete is also the voice of one of Disney's leading characters. Who does
- 1:05:00he voice? Is it a bay Max from Big Hero six, b Stitch
- 1:05:05from Leelo and Stitch or see Pete from Pete Dragon? O? N I
- 1:05:13know the answer you anwer know? Just say it? Why? Aday?
- 1:05:20Oh? Is it b Max? Wow? Huh? I think you throw
- 1:05:25Pete for Pete Dragon throw off there, but I'm pretty sure you caught me
- 1:05:31on. No, it's not the second one, so that's how I got
- 1:05:33there. Yeah, it is absolutely bay Max from Big Hero six. He
- 1:05:38voices bay Max good stuff. That's why I didn't know that he's killing it.
- 1:05:43Yeah. Okay, so we'll move on over to Werewolf bar mitzvah.
- 1:05:45Disney is gone, but you can choose any other word. Clothes, photo,
- 1:05:49audition, absent, marriage, Nothing jumps out to me right away,
- 1:05:56how about you? Yeah, Um, absent could be nothing out. Yeah,
- 1:06:00let's go for absolutely nothing. Since yes, that is the word on
- 1:06:05the right hand, which is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Um,
- 1:06:10why or a stretching motion. It's kind it's a kind of lifting.
- 1:06:16I'm going to delete all this. Your question is this, why did Tracy
- 1:06:21Morgan have to be written out of several episodes in season five? Was it
- 1:06:28A he had to have an emergency kidney transplant? Was it B he was
- 1:06:32filming an actual Tracy Jordan like movie called cop Out? Or was it C
- 1:06:40he got stranded in Europe for three weeks due to that whole icelandic ash cloud
- 1:06:44thing. Oh I hearing B. I really thought that was it, but
- 1:06:48because I think I do remember cop Out, Yeah, that sounds too familiar,
- 1:06:54Like I kind of wanted to be seeings. That's much a cooler thing
- 1:06:57to you know, reason to be stranded. It's because of a crazy cloud,
- 1:07:00and I do remember that being a thing, but I can't imagine it
- 1:07:03timing up. But neither gonna hit the movies. So one of those two?
- 1:07:08Yeah, we got fifty fifty? Um, do we want to go
- 1:07:13for the ash Cloud? Let's go with ash Cloud? More fun for the
- 1:07:15ash Cloud? Yeah, lovely, lovely bit of fun, lovely bit.
- 1:07:18They've been a poisonous gas for everyone. Just pump a too appropriate, very
- 1:07:25appropriate? Oh god, Okay, you are saying the icelandic ash cloud.
- 1:07:33It is not. He had to have an emergency kidney transplants. It was
- 1:07:36actually are screwed either way, the one that seemed really dangerous and serious.
- 1:07:46He wasn't cop out, but it was filmed between season four and season five,
- 1:07:49so it's been a trek. Okay, back on over to the pause,
- 1:07:56men, I will display the anus towards Jake Mack. You just can
- 1:08:00you just rub the words that are out from the police. Yes, just
- 1:08:04like this, Yeah, harder for the viewers at home. This is match
- 1:08:11wiping an ass. There we go, all right, thank you? Essential
- 1:08:15uh clothes, audition, photo and marriage. Do you know any trivia that
- 1:08:19might come into play right off the bat? JP, Okay, just take
- 1:08:24a word. He's ready for I'm intrigued by clothes. I have no idea
- 1:08:29what how do they were, where do they come from? What happens when
- 1:08:35we're done with it? The reference is just fantastic stuff. Okay, your
- 1:08:42question is from the left cheek. It is clothes who loved their wardrobe so
- 1:08:47much that they gave NBC a huge check at the end of the final season
- 1:08:53so they could take all of their characters clothes home. Was it a Alec
- 1:08:57Baldwin, b Tracy Morgan or see Jane Krakowski. I feel like, go
- 1:09:05ahead, who are you leaning towards? I was gonna say Tracy Morgan would
- 1:09:09do that if he's anything like Tracy Jordan. See. Okay, So here's
- 1:09:12my first audience that you put Jack out because all of his ships absolutely,
- 1:09:17absolutely, I mean they're nice suits, but sure, um. And then
- 1:09:20I think Tracy kind of dresses like Tracy does you know a big oversized shirts?
- 1:09:26Absolutely? You know, she's had to wear like a lot of fake
- 1:09:30opera opera, fake Oscar ceremonies and fake you know, pad and so I
- 1:09:34feel like she's got such a wide number of outfits. I don't know i'd
- 1:09:40lean towards her personally, but I'll go with what you can feel. Oh,
- 1:09:44I also thought she had a really great wardrobe. Would she pay money?
- 1:09:47I don't know much about her. Would she pay money for that?
- 1:09:50I feel like I know enough about Tracy Morgan that he might pay money for
- 1:09:54the track suits and so on. So was it paying money or was it
- 1:09:57just keeping them with thank you? Or yeah, it was giving NBC a
- 1:10:01huge check at the end of the final season to buy their wardrobe. Yeah
- 1:10:05all right, Jordan, then yeah, we're going with Tracy for that one.
- 1:10:12It's not this one's actually Alec Baldwin. Alec he wanted you did the
- 1:10:17same thing we did were Yeah, yeah, alright, cool by me because
- 1:10:23they had them all tailored, like yeah, yeah, you need tailored suits.
- 1:10:27Yeah, this is a good act. Well see that's just boring to
- 1:10:31me. But yeah, yeah, it's just the other two have much like
- 1:10:35fancy a ward that's what suits all the time. If I were oh yeah,
- 1:10:42weil for his daughter whatever. Yeah, older covered the joke at the
- 1:10:48top, I reckon okay, oh yes, sorry, no, I should
- 1:10:56set up the next thing. Okay, started looking into I prefer games Master.
- 1:11:10Okay, back over to Werewolf bumts. But you have three words left
- 1:11:13on your board. I still want to see where we did as already marriage
- 1:11:18yeahs wings us toged or this questions not about the Princess Bride. Well,
- 1:11:28there's a Gaatelier's episode right there. Yes, everyone made the references so it
- 1:11:32could work with this exact same crew. Um, okay, your question is
- 1:11:36from the right thigh. Two of the fictional writers in the writers room are
- 1:11:43married in real life and are also real life writers. But which too.
- 1:11:47You just have to name the characters that you think are married to each other.
- 1:11:51Oh, we don't get a multiple choice on this one. No multiple
- 1:11:54choices on this one. I'm sorry, don't remember. This one's a test
- 1:11:57to see how well you remember the names of the people in the well.
- 1:12:00I can start listen to the ones I know that was. It could be
- 1:12:08Um two Fur, Frank Lutts, blonde Girl. I'll accept. I'll accept
- 1:12:16that if you pay blonde girl with someone else, specifically any inkling. I
- 1:12:23don't know why, but because they shit on LUTs so much, I would
- 1:12:27want to say that it would be her and him, either her and Frank
- 1:12:31or her and Lutts. Who is the one who always wants to eat subway?
- 1:12:35Oh my god, I forgot about that bit I would go with.
- 1:12:39I mean, like, I guess this is fairly like heteronormative. I was
- 1:12:44about to say I would vote for Frank and two for they have the most
- 1:12:49they give each other the most shit. But I feel like if there was
- 1:12:53a gay couple in that show that I would know who they were. That's
- 1:12:58just the way member. But I think it's the real people are a couple.
- 1:13:02But even then, I think I would have like come across at some
- 1:13:04point in like the trivia of the show. I would have been like a
- 1:13:06standoun thing for me. So being hetero normani is why I don't remember it.
- 1:13:11I assume, yeah, that's that's normative working for good for once,
- 1:13:16or it's the most boring gay couple and you're like, yeah, sure,
- 1:13:20whatever, there has to be one somewhere, blonde girl in LUTs. Blonde
- 1:13:26girl and LUTs, let's do it. Her name a better. I don't
- 1:13:30have a better shout than that. Her name. Yeah, I'd like it,
- 1:13:32I'd I would, I would like it. Guess at the name I
- 1:13:34was also going to offer is I will take it. But also if JP
- 1:13:38knows the name of that, right, or I will give that team a
- 1:13:41point as well. My god, it's not it's not sorry, it's a
- 1:13:47good guess though, alright, no, not right, I'm gonna give you
- 1:13:54the point for it is LUTs and the blonde right. Her name is Sue,
- 1:13:58So you got the right couple. They're married in real life. I
- 1:14:00said Sue, like I did remember that? Remember that? Still still not
- 1:14:05clicking for me. I'm like, no, but she yeah, because she
- 1:14:10is or something like that, or German maybe yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:15They definitely make jokes about In my head, I knew who they were talking
- 1:14:18about it. Yeah, they were right, But I had no idea of
- 1:14:20her name either. I don't know why. I mean, if you think
- 1:14:25I think she is German, I think she does have a German surname.
- 1:14:28So so it's Stilly German. That's in my mind. There we go.
- 1:14:31Look, it's there's a lot of stereotypes in thirty Rocks, so it's if
- 1:14:35it's if it's okay, we have one word left each for each team.
- 1:14:41Back on over to the pos men. I feel like JP's going to kill
- 1:14:45audition. You're gonna go with gonna go with audition. Your question corresponding to
- 1:14:51audition is, thus, which actor who would go on to appear in thirty
- 1:14:57Rock later on originally auditioned for the role of Jack Donaghee. Was it a
- 1:15:03Steve Martin, b John Hamm or see Jason Sadakis mean of them doing this,
- 1:15:14they've all done it, They've all me and they've all come on the
- 1:15:15show. Um, I immediately thought John Hamm before he even I read the
- 1:15:21options, because like that's like a Donne type of mad Men's type. But
- 1:15:26they're all great options, but I'm just saying that I'm gonna say that one
- 1:15:30was my guest because before I even heard the options, I'm like, it's
- 1:15:32gonna be John Hamm because I know he was also in it. Yea,
- 1:15:35Okay, that's that's huge because I of those three, I would think John
- 1:15:39A. Ham because he, like you said, played in mad Men,
- 1:15:44but also played a similar character in the way that he gave that performance in
- 1:15:49Madmen, like the vocal patterns is very Jack Donnigh and the character he played
- 1:15:55later. I think he was in a bubble of handsomness if I'm not mistaken,
- 1:15:58so he was unaware how bad he was everything. Yes, and you
- 1:16:02guys fancy too. I think he has to cutting his hands off or something
- 1:16:05at the surgeon because he's just really dumb and he realizes he's not the bubble
- 1:16:10or something. Yeah, I'm really something that's so funny. He's so funny.
- 1:16:16You should search out his snls. He's one of those guys who's not
- 1:16:19reading any of the You can tell he's not reading the promise, he's not
- 1:16:24rehearse, and she is natural and he just killed at anything you see him.
- 1:16:28I love it. He's like he's done the show, comedy, bang
- 1:16:30thing, this podcast too, and he's just always willing to make fun of
- 1:16:32himself or be goofy. And I love celebrities like that. Yeah, and
- 1:16:38hopefully you know what of that? He is also the right answer to this
- 1:16:42question. John hamp did originally audition, but Jack Dunnigan, I thought that
- 1:16:46was like the compout, what if it was way too easy of like,
- 1:16:49well, he wouldn't play like the mad Men character again, but in a
- 1:16:51comedy, that's like such a fake, such a set up. Nope,
- 1:16:57I don't know timing wise though that I don't know if mad Man very first.
- 1:17:00Actually they must have started around the same time. Yeah, pretty close,
- 1:17:03Yeah, close to it. I think if I can be the funny
- 1:17:08businessman, I'll be the serious business man. So that's audition gone, which
- 1:17:15leaves the final word, which is photo. It's a photo? Is your
- 1:17:19final word? On the left hand? There? Where did this photo of
- 1:17:23a gaping asshole? Comes my mind? Okay? And previously a mirror I'm
- 1:17:36more impressed with a contortion is quite skillet? Yeah, okay, I'm just
- 1:17:47looking for the word. I love how your thumb is bigger than the rest
- 1:17:50of your fingers. Which famous friend of Tina phase appears in a photo on
- 1:17:59Jack donag He's window sill behind his desk throughout season four? WHOA Is it
- 1:18:04a Amy Pola, b Julia Louis Dreyfus or see Kristen Wig damn it?
- 1:18:14Amy Polar is where my mind went initially? Yeah, yeah, but I
- 1:18:18don't I can't think of any reason why why would Jack have Maybe it's not
- 1:18:24intentional, but I could also see, like Julia Louis Dreyfus being like such
- 1:18:28a serious businesswoman kind of character that would make sense for him to like admire
- 1:18:31her for some reason. Yeah, but I don't know. I can't think
- 1:18:36of a reason why Amy them would be there. And Amy Polar was kind
- 1:18:40of like the John Hamm was the one that came to me first as an
- 1:18:42obvious choice. So so I I think, yeah, let's go with it,
- 1:18:48saying Amy Pola, Yep, it's no, it's Kristen Wigg is there.
- 1:18:55I don't know if it's meant to be her or she's just meant to
- 1:18:57be like a stock photo or a different family mber or something, but yep,
- 1:19:00she's there throughout season four on a photo on Jack's window. Um.
- 1:19:05I only find out about that because of IMDb trivia. Everyone, okay,
- 1:19:11scrolling through Hulu for season four. So now we enter the black hole of
- 1:19:18knowledge. Oh right, both teams, both teams, you have now and
- 1:19:27entered the whole. I was going to use a different word there, but
- 1:19:30no, okay, instead of the I was gonna say my now, I've
- 1:19:45so welcome to the whole of knowledge. Um. There is one final question,
- 1:19:51thank you, I like to like to accommodate. Um. There is
- 1:19:56one final question that will be for both teams that is numerical. The closest
- 1:20:00answer wins. All right, So here's the question. One clue confirms which
- 1:20:08year the Immortal page Kenneth Parcel started working at NBC. So what year did
- 1:20:15Kenneth start working at NBC. I have a vague memory of a rough year
- 1:20:20this happened, Like, I don't know why this comes to mind is a
- 1:20:24trivia thing, but I think I know it. Okay, Audred, you
- 1:20:27have it to any like speciation? Well, no, do you want to
- 1:20:31throw out your your gambit first? Then, Drew, I feel like I
- 1:20:35remember, like even like one of those like today I learned on reddits or
- 1:20:39something, but I think he started in like nineteen seventy five or something.
- 1:20:42What Okay, okay, Like it's a running joke like he gives an age
- 1:20:45and he's like secretly immortal that he's been there forever. Oh okay, so
- 1:20:49we've got nineteen seventy five from Werewolf bar mitzvah? Can we can? We
- 1:20:54have a guess from the pas met is the goal to get closer without going
- 1:20:58over right, well or to get closer. It's just purely purely closer on
- 1:21:03this one. I think whoever has the closestne but it doesn't matter if you
- 1:21:06both all below. Okay, well they needed way nineties day. Um,
- 1:21:12you're right, you're on the right track, and I definitely agree. I
- 1:21:15just think it's earlier because Kenneth is like one hundred and sixty years old.
- 1:21:18Um, as this slowly throughout the entire season, little things come up to
- 1:21:24indicate he's very old, and I think he's like one hundred and six one
- 1:21:27hundred and nine when he meets lizzs Brand. But I just really feel like
- 1:21:30when those guys came on, like Hardy Corman type or like not hard because
- 1:21:34it. It was like, yeah, pretty in something us so much more
- 1:21:45knowledgeable than Alice. I'm shook. So I feel like he was there in
- 1:21:48the fifties or sixties, and I feel like that's just say nineteen sixty one.
- 1:21:56You happy without Jason. Jason's mouth is open. There's this like a
- 1:21:59lot like Platoists that I just completely have. Kenneth was the smoke monster.
- 1:22:05Let me yeah, let me ask Jason. You have watched four out of
- 1:22:10seventy five episodes and you're like, yeah, he never saw it. This
- 1:22:17is this is when they reboot the timeline flashpoint style, Kenneth is in the
- 1:22:24bottom of the hatch to actually be any the whole time. He was a
- 1:22:30ghost the whole time with his wife. Wasn't just not talking the whole time?
- 1:22:38So, uh, the six sense maybe. Okay, So we've got
- 1:22:43a couple of answers. I've got the right answer in front of me,
- 1:22:46But who is closest the point is going to the pause? Men? Yeah,
- 1:22:50because the Colt answer is nineteen thirty six like them? Okay, all
- 1:22:56right? As as he refused, he reveals that during his first year of
- 1:23:00employment, an eight year old Shirley Temple taught him how to roll a cigarette.
- 1:23:08So that's how fans have put together that he started working there in nineteen
- 1:23:11thirty six. So he really is immortal, Jason, It's not just so
- 1:23:15it's just a gag. It's real. I didn't know that Shirley Temple is
- 1:23:18eighty years old back then. That's eighty eight years old. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:23eight yeah, an eight year old old cigarette. Oh that's the end
- 1:23:29of a round. Three. Let's head on over to our appointment with doctor
- 1:23:31spur Cherman to see if he can use that big science brain to calculate the
- 1:23:36latest scores. And those scores are Werewolf bar Mitzvah are on seventeen points,
- 1:23:44but the pos men are in the lead with nineteen points. We finally did
- 1:23:48it. Still play you got to you gotta slight lead. But anything can
- 1:23:57happen in the quick by a round, of course. But before the quick
- 1:24:00fire around, let's talk prizes. It's a famous Rocks mat Is. Honestly,
- 1:24:08that might be better than what I've got. I'm not I'm not actually
- 1:24:10confident on these ones. They're not as strong this. These are all better.
- 1:24:19You're all such good I'll read it anyway, but I'll leave what you
- 1:24:25said in and this episode, star prize is the concept of innovation. Nothing
- 1:24:30would get made at thirty Rock without the innovative business practices of Jack Donaghee and
- 1:24:36Ge and Ge, and we believe in that here too. That's why our
- 1:24:40format has been roughly the same for fifty episodes. But our winning team will
- 1:24:45also receive a lifetime subscription to Peacock the Cock, but it will end in
- 1:24:53twenty twenty five when NBC Universal is bought by Amazon. We do not cover
- 1:24:57that the right before they go out of business, almost almost suddenly. If
- 1:25:02they listen to my letters, they will. How do you listen to a
- 1:25:08letter He's got your millennial? All right? All right, okay, we
- 1:25:24have one round left to go and it's all to play for. But first
- 1:25:27let's have one last set of commercials. And remember they are smart ads,
- 1:25:31so the body pillar you're about to be sold is based on your browsing data.
- 1:25:35Okay, James franco. Oh final quick fire round is called RSVP two
- 1:25:48dot dot dot exclamation mark. In this game, I'll reveal the fictional address
- 1:25:57from a major media property. Because as always, the final round will test
- 1:26:00your broader pop culture knowledge. All our players have to do is named the
- 1:26:05show or movie that address is from, so obviously with thirty Rock, we've
- 1:26:10got thirty Rockefeller Plaza is the location, and RSVP in this game stands for
- 1:26:16real storytelling venues. Please, what is the two for the two? That's
- 1:26:24just like, oh, okay, yeah, it's t t O. I
- 1:26:28know we've had problems with words on this audio media in this episode so far,
- 1:26:32but we genuine genuinely I might cut this, I might leave it in.
- 1:26:36Until I was about fourteen fifteen, I thought that RSVP stood for reply
- 1:26:42as soon as very please. I love that. I love that. I
- 1:26:49love that so much, so pure Okay, you guys, you guys know
- 1:26:54the winds familiar with that term. Yes, So, up until I was
- 1:26:59very I mean in my twenties, I thought it was windshield factor the whole
- 1:27:02life as a kid. Uh No, my brother who's won like every school
- 1:27:06award he could and graduate at the top of his class, uh sat with
- 1:27:11me in a restaurant and legitimately had the realization that pancakes are cakes made in
- 1:27:15a pan. Nice. Nice. I never thought of it. Yeah,
- 1:27:20are you all just realizing that? But look, while we're doing this,
- 1:27:25I had this is I believe I've got the cherry. On top of all
- 1:27:27of this, I had a friend at age eighteen who read a girl's name
- 1:27:31out loud in the in the college class, genuinely and read it as pino
- 1:27:35Lope and never once in his entire life because the name Penelope or seen the
- 1:27:43name Penelope. And so he was like, pinot is literally happened in my
- 1:27:49life, and I was the one who did it. I'm dead, he's
- 1:27:54gone. He's gonna say no, You're gonna say penelope because I read it
- 1:27:59so much as a kid. And then they were like all these words like
- 1:28:01I wasn't these social you don't say them out? Oh yeah yeah, and
- 1:28:05yep, pino Lope was one of mine. I could think of a couple
- 1:28:10others. Definitely one we were doing mythology and I think I said when we
- 1:28:17were it was APIs or something maybe anyways, Yeah, that was me who
- 1:28:20did that. But it's universe. It's universe. Yeah, I've done it
- 1:28:27with grotesque you like I remembers the Phone. We've all done that one.
- 1:28:38I definitely did that. As I said, urs the phone and pino Lope,
- 1:28:41those are the two that I remember. These, it's these pe names
- 1:28:45honestly, Yeah, um, okay, should we get to quick fire around?
- 1:28:48Sure we do. Yay. There is a little gate leaper's twist,
- 1:28:55of course, because it can't just be simple. I would like you to
- 1:28:58say, Liz Lemons in multiple words of I want to go to there before
- 1:29:02you give your answer. So whatever your answer is, I want you to
- 1:29:05say, I want to go to there, and then the name of the
- 1:29:09media property. So for example, if I said, yeah, I got
- 1:29:15a package here for seven forty two ever Green Terror Spring Wolves, Yes,
- 1:29:21Drew, I want to go to there, Simpson's perfect. That's exactly how
- 1:29:26you do it. That's exactly how you play this game. So you remember
- 1:29:30the buzzing I want to go to there, and then the answer. It's
- 1:29:32a lot of things to hold in my mind. It's a lot of things.
- 1:29:34It's messy, okay, yes, yes, let's practice the practice the
- 1:29:41things. Uh we got pas men? And are you saying werewolves by mitzpah?
- 1:29:46Where wolves? Where wolves? You need to where something? You have
- 1:29:50something? Now you both have the same signal. But that's not confusing.
- 1:29:59It like over surfing a little mad individuals, So it's not confusing because you
- 1:30:05see the hands attached to that's true. That's true the patrons get Yeah,
- 1:30:12that's the same. I don't know who I'm seeing it. I'm just gonna
- 1:30:15I'm just gonna stop the timer and stop reading questions, all right. Yeah,
- 1:30:18I got a package here for a two to one b Baker Street Werewolves.
- 1:30:25That's gonna be Drew. I want to go there, Sherlock Holmes Spawn.
- 1:30:30That's the points many right, the books, the show, it's always
- 1:30:36been too want to be Baker Street. Yeah, I got a package here
- 1:30:41for one two four con Street Bikini Bottom Pacific Ocean Werewolves. I think it's
- 1:30:48gonna be JP. I haven't watched it, but I'm pretty sure. Square
- 1:30:53fans, I'm so sorry. I can't give you it. I can't give
- 1:30:57you it. I'm gonna throw it over Aldred You is it Swooper or Patrick?
- 1:31:01Oh, but it's just the show. I want to go to their
- 1:31:04SpongeBob Square. Yes, I'm sorry, it was that. I want to
- 1:31:08go to that. By my own rules, you absolutely had the right answer.
- 1:31:14But I've got to make the madness of gate leapers be a thing.
- 1:31:17I literally will never buzz in correctly. Wait what you can buzz in?
- 1:31:23And then Jason can say I want to go to there for you, So
- 1:31:26that'll work as long as as as as long as I hear it from Okay,
- 1:31:32next one, Yeah, I got a package here for back end,
- 1:31:36back shot. I think it's I think it's just Audre. I think it'd
- 1:31:42be just Audre. I want to go to their Lord of the Ring.
- 1:31:45Yes, the Lord of the Rings are the hobbit, I'll take it.
- 1:31:47This is where we come back. Hold on next address. Yeah, I've
- 1:31:51got a package for four private drive little Winging. I kind of I honestly
- 1:32:00cannot tell, and the recording will either absolve me, i'll condemn me,
- 1:32:03but for tension, I'm going to go for JP. I do think it
- 1:32:06was, like I know it's not with my team, but I do think
- 1:32:08it was. Yeah, I really knew it at the time, and then
- 1:32:11we talked about I want to go I want to go to their nice Harry
- 1:32:17Potter and and any number of things. Yeah, that'll do. That was
- 1:32:23my favorite one, any number of things. Also, it's so funny that
- 1:32:27she called the town little Wening and now that's what she does all day.

- 1:37:51it's not that, only because it depends on the entire game, Oh my
- 1:37:56god, I'm gonna throw it back and forth until the correct answer. Say,
- 1:38:00I want to go to their thirty Rock. It's not the actual building,

- 1:42:13to be fair. Okay, let's get to the final scores, and it
- 1:42:18was this was the most thrilling episodes for me as a games master. Back
- 1:42:24and forth throughout that quick fire around constantly one upping each other, and it
- 1:42:29came down to the final question, which obviously the pos Men got right.
- 1:42:32So today's winners JP and Jason the pos Men with twenty four points, coming
- 1:42:38in second with a very valiant twenty three points. It's well Wolf bar mitzpah,
- 1:42:42but winners all round. I feel yeah, it's a great episode.
- 1:42:45That was phenomenal. We have been gate leapers. Thank you so much for
- 1:42:50listening. Subscribe to this feed for more geeky game shows. We've leaped into
- 1:42:54the fandoms of Supernatural, The Simpsons, Thaw, and so much more.
- 1:42:58Didn't mean for that to rhyme. Please leave us five star review if you
- 1:43:00had a good time, and ignore this sentence if you didn't to share this
- 1:43:03episode with a friend, a thirty rock fan, a comedy fan, Alec
- 1:43:08Baldwin before he does hard time, anyone at all. Really, we'll be
- 1:43:12back next time when will I'm still scheduling, so it could be like one
- 1:43:15of three or four things because we're ahead on recordings. But until then,
- 1:43:19I'll leave you with these inspirational words from Liz Lemon. My New Year's resolution
- 1:43:25is to say yes more yes to love, yes to life, Yes to
- 1:43:29staying in more because anything is something as long as you're mindful, We'll see
- 1:43:32you in two weeks. Goodbye,
