- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, Tanya has I don't know why this came up,
- 0:05Speaker 1: but Tanya, is it a question about when you argue?
- 0:09Speaker 1: Is it a position about arguments? What is it about
- 0:12Speaker 1: arguments that you want to address?
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's a question to ask your partner when you're in
- 0:16Speaker 2: an argument.
- 0:17Speaker 1: George, listen to this, Okay, go ahead, Okay.
- 0:19Speaker 2: So this is something that I think I read it
- 0:22Speaker 2: in my therapy book. But it's basically, if you're arguing
- 0:26Speaker 2: with your partner, ask them this one question, then they
- 0:29Speaker 2: should ask it to you. How important is this to you?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Because sometimes when you argue, one of the two might
- 0:37Speaker 2: just be like, this is so silly, I don't care,
- 0:39Speaker 2: but it might really deeply mean something to the other person.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So I think you have to check in how important
- 0:46Speaker 2: is this to you. If you both say it's not
- 0:47Speaker 2: that important, you can just move on. But if one
- 0:50Speaker 2: person says this is really important to me, then you
- 0:52Speaker 2: take the time and you hash it out and you
- 0:54Speaker 2: figure it out.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I think that's a very good approach to not waste
- 0:58Speaker 1: time arguing about things that don't really matter. You know,
- 1:01Speaker 1: because arguments, you know, difference of opinion, you know, it's
- 1:05Speaker 1: not about winning or losing. It's really about making sure
- 1:08Speaker 1: the other person feels hurt or is not threatened. It
- 1:11Speaker 1: is I think, well, I don't argue. I like to
- 1:15Speaker 1: de escalate, but I think that you know, sometimes based
- 1:18Speaker 1: on where you are in the day, it's the end
- 1:20Speaker 1: of the day, you haven't eaten. Little things become arguments
- 1:23Speaker 1: and they just shouldn't. They're waste of time, energy, and
- 1:26Speaker 1: they're toxic and you need to move on. I love
- 1:30Speaker 1: this approach.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Thank you.
