Speaker 2: spirits of God in the seven stars. I know your works,

Speaker 2: that you have a name, that you are alive, but

Speaker 2: you are dead. Be watchful and strengthen the things which

Speaker 2: found your works perfect before God, remember therefore how you

Speaker 2: have received and heard. Hold fast and repent. Therefore, if

Speaker 2: say that some commentators, even a pastor Chuck Smith, I

Speaker 2: mentioned him before in other episodes, I believe he is

Speaker 2: one of the great and not the greatest Bible teachers

Speaker 2: in our generation, even though he's passed away. Now, I

Speaker 2: guess you can say the generation right before us. Right.

Speaker 2: He has great insight. He does verse by verse, chapter

Speaker 2: by chapter studying. This is the teacher that I've sat

Speaker 2: under for years. I love doing expositor touring type teachings,

Speaker 2: But we're gonna start off. We're starting off backwards, right,

Speaker 2: We're starting off in the Book of Revelation, and then

Speaker 2: we're gonna go to Genesis. Lord willing amen. But he

Speaker 2: church ages, and I just noticed when reading this one,

Speaker 2: the Church of Sartists. I believe that this is a

Speaker 2: church age we're in right now, because he mentions that

Speaker 2: if you don't watch, he will come as a thief

Speaker 2: in the night, and you will not know the hour

Speaker 2: for which he's coming. And I believe that we are

Speaker 2: living in the church age where Jesus is going to return.

Speaker 2: There's way too much going on around us to say otherwise. Right.

Speaker 2: We can see it on the news. We see the

Speaker 2: dealings with the nation of Israel. We see wars and

Speaker 2: rumors of wars. We see all these things. So I

Speaker 2: just wanted to take notice that I believe that this

Speaker 2: may be the church age. And while it's if you

Speaker 2: really look at it, it says that the church is

Speaker 2: dead man. So let's dive into it and let's see

Speaker 2: what's going on. Because I want to be one of

Speaker 2: those in the who's going to be put on a

Speaker 2: getting fitted for a white robe, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2: And the pastor Chuck teaches that this is the Protestant movement,

Speaker 2: the Protestant Church. Now, if you know history, the Protestants

Speaker 2: broke away from the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was

Speaker 2: very dominant during those times. People really didn't know how

Speaker 2: to read, so they would get the word from the

Speaker 2: priests and different things like that. And if you look

Speaker 2: up and study the life of Martin Luther, he was

Speaker 2: it the Seventh Feasts or something something like that. But

Speaker 2: he wrote a letter and he nailed it to the

Speaker 2: door of the Catholic Church, pinpointing all the things that

Speaker 2: they were doing wrong, the things that they did that

Speaker 2: were not backed up by scripture or the Bible. And

Speaker 2: that was the Protestant Reformation. And so a lot of

Speaker 2: people followed Luther. And now you have the Lutheran Church,

Speaker 2: the luther Movement. Man, you have the Protestant They protested

Speaker 2: against the Catholic Church and the things that they were doing.

Speaker 2: So you got the Protestants and the Catholics that have

Speaker 2: fought throughout history and I actually consider myself a Protestant

Speaker 2: right because I don't believe in the institution that will

Speaker 2: control the people. I'm completely against that. Right, we talked

Speaker 2: about the Nickeolations. If you haven't, if you missed that episode,

Speaker 2: I encourage you to look at was it. I believe

Speaker 2: it was the Church of Thiatyra where Jesus says he

Speaker 2: hates the work of the Nickelations. And that's basically the

Speaker 2: church ruling over the people. And that's what the Catholic

Speaker 2: Church did. And so you have a name that you

Speaker 2: are alive now. The Protestant movement wasn't complete. They fell

Speaker 2: short because they brought a lot of paganism with it, like,

Speaker 2: for instance, Christmas is actually a pagan holiday. They borrow

Speaker 2: a lot of stuff from the paganism the other day

Speaker 2: and I can't really break it down right now, but

Speaker 2: look it up. A lot of people know, and people ask, well,

Speaker 2: why do you celebrate Christmas? Well, you know, we changed

Speaker 2: the meaning. You know, we always focus on Christ. But

Speaker 2: that's another can of worms and hopefully the Lord will

Speaker 2: give us an opportunity to dive deeper into that. But

Speaker 2: right now, it says I know your works, that you

Speaker 2: have a name, that you are alive, but you are

Speaker 2: dead now also taking notice, like I said before, the

Speaker 2: style of these letters, Jesus describes who he is, and

Speaker 2: he says the seven spirits of God, which I believe

Speaker 2: it speaks of the completeness. Seven is a number of completeness,

Speaker 2: and he describes who he is. Right, And so Sartists

Speaker 2: was famous for his name, but spiritually dead. Inside. You

Speaker 2: could be known for something, right, but then when you

Speaker 2: look on the inside, it's not really true. This is

Speaker 2: a church filled with a lot of activity. This church

Speaker 2: had a great image people saw from a distance like wow,

Speaker 2: this church is doing great things, but it was lacking

Speaker 2: the intimacy with Christ. And we talked about that. Before

Speaker 2: everything goes back to being intimate with the Lord, we

Speaker 2: need to know it goes back to relationship, and relationship

Speaker 2: takes time. We need to spend time with Jesus. And

Speaker 2: that's all he really wants from us. I mean, working

Speaker 2: for him is cool and all this other stuff, but

Speaker 2: he really wants our intimacy. He wants our hearts. And

Speaker 2: so we're gonna see that in this church. Because this

Speaker 2: verse really hits hard. It hit me hard. I had

Speaker 2: to deal with myself. Because you can have the dopest music,

Speaker 2: you can have packed seats, you can be real popular, right,

Speaker 2: but still spiritually flatlined. God sees through all the hype.

Speaker 2: Are we performing or are we pursuing? Amen, that's a

Speaker 2: good one. Are we performing or are we pursuing? That's

Speaker 2: a reflection question right there, especially in the genre that

Speaker 2: we're in. And man, well let's go to verse two.

Speaker 2: Be watchful in strengthen the things which remain that are

Speaker 2: ready to die. Now there's still a spark, right, if

Speaker 2: you have a little flicker. God is so gracious, it's

Speaker 2: so merciful to where he doesn't even want to stuff

Speaker 2: that out. At least there's a little flicker, right, and

Speaker 2: Jesus urges them to watch, meaning to wake up. Artists

Speaker 2: a while. You know you've been in situation. I've been

Speaker 2: in situations like that, and that's where Sartists was spiritually.

Speaker 2: They were down down to like one bar. And Jesus says,

Speaker 2: plug back in before it's too late, find the charger

Speaker 2: before your phone dies completely. Right now, verse three, Remember therefore,

Speaker 2: how you have received and heard. Hold fast and repent.

Speaker 2: He's telling them to watch. He's telling them to hold fast.

Speaker 2: Jesus will always encourage us to hold fast. He even

Speaker 2: told one of the churches that we went through. He says,

Speaker 2: I'm not going to put any other burdens on you.

Speaker 2: Just hold fast to what you already have. He urges

Speaker 2: us to remember the original fire that was sparked in

Speaker 2: our relationship with him. Remember the gospel that you have

Speaker 2: first received. You see, it's not about innovation, right, It's

Speaker 2: not about finding the newest and ladies trend. We're living

Speaker 2: in a generation where we want the newest and the latest.

Speaker 2: We're always trying to innovate, trying to be the first

Speaker 2: around the curve, the first to create something. It's like

Speaker 2: a race right to be the first to grab on

Speaker 2: to something new. But no, it's about returning to the foundation.

Speaker 2: It's about returning to what we have already received. It's

Speaker 2: about coming back to truth. If you walked away from

Speaker 2: God's people that are gonna stay faithful. And we're gonna

Speaker 2: one and you're holding it down while everybody else is

Speaker 2: falling off, don't grow weary fam don't get get weary,

Speaker 2: don't get discouraged. Their walk matters more than you know.

Speaker 2: Could be that one remnant, that faithful member that can

Speaker 2: make a difference in your church where you fellowship. So

Speaker 2: stay faithful. That verse five and six you he who

Speaker 2: overcomes shall be clothed in white garments. He who overcomes

Speaker 2: blot his name from the Book of Life. Now there's

Speaker 2: a doctrine out there, actually a doctrine where I came

Speaker 2: up under. I actually got saved while they were teaching

Speaker 2: this doctor and this doctrine called eternal security. Eternal security,

Speaker 2: and my story, I got saved at a home Bible study.

Speaker 2: There was a woman that was teaching. I was fifteen

Speaker 2: years old. Her name was Benita. Shout out to Benita,

Speaker 2: and they would get materials from Charles Stanley. And if

Speaker 2: you know who Charles Stanley is, he is really like

Speaker 2: famous for known for teaching the of eternal security, like

Speaker 2: once you're saved, you cannot be lost. Well, this verse

Speaker 2: the overcomers. He didn't say everybody who calls up on

Speaker 2: people who call up on the name of the Lord,

Speaker 2: but they won't be saved even though they call up

Speaker 2: on his name. And the Bible tells us to call

Speaker 2: upon his name in order to be saved. So what's

Speaker 2: going on here. There's got to be a process of overcoming.

Speaker 2: There's gotta be some things that you have to overcome,

Speaker 2: because the truth is we can overcome and conquer all

Speaker 2: we can do, all things. Who Christ you strengthen us.

Speaker 2: We're not tapping in to the power if we're always

Speaker 2: getting defeated. Right, So Jesus, God wants us to overcome,

Speaker 2: says he will not blot out our names for the

Speaker 2: Book of Life. Be love it. If your name is

Speaker 2: not written in the Book of Life, you're not going

Speaker 2: to heaven. I'm not going to heaven. Nobody is going

Speaker 2: the books and we'll read it towards the end of

Speaker 2: Revelation that Lord willing the books will be open. And

Speaker 2: then the last book they've talked about it was the

Speaker 2: Lamb's Book of Life, and if your name is not

Speaker 2: written in the book, then you will be cast into

Speaker 2: the lake of fire burning in brimstone. So that is

Speaker 2: directly related to your salvation. And the fact he says

Speaker 2: that he will not blot it out tells us that

Speaker 2: he's able to blot it out. Like why would I

Speaker 2: say I'm not going to do something if I'm able

Speaker 2: to do If he's not able to block people's names

Speaker 2: stand for righteousness. But when Jesus calls your name in

Speaker 2: front of the Father, right. He says he would acknowledge

Speaker 2: real standing ovation. I want the Father and his angels

Speaker 2: to acknowledge me. I mean, yeah, we can. And I've

Speaker 2: struggled with that. I'll be honest. I've struggled with affirmation

Speaker 2: from man right and acceptance for man. Get man's approval

Speaker 2: or certain group I wanted to join or wanted them

Speaker 2: to acknowledge me, or I wanted them to confirm me

Speaker 2: or validate me. I went through all that on all

Speaker 2: different levels. But I pray right now that we're all

Speaker 2: at this point where all that matters is let's hear
