- 0:39Speaker 1: us in this portion of the program, brought to you
- 0:41Speaker 1: by Superior Air Repair. Coming up here in a few
- 0:46Speaker 1: minutes one of our all time favorites, Darryl Razor Ray.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We shouldn't be talking this early. The stars should still
- 0:55Speaker 1: be playing hockey, but they're not. We told you earlier,
- 1:02Speaker 1: We'll tell you again. A couple of things. Former A
- 1:07Speaker 1: and M running back levy On Moss, who signed with
- 1:10Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins as a free agent, has been placed
- 1:14Speaker 1: on the retired list, according to a release from the Dolphins. Fortunately,
- 1:22Speaker 1: uh a career with with injuries and UH, it's a
- 1:26Speaker 1: shame he's very talented. But I know it's got to
- 1:30Speaker 1: be disappointing, but he'll be he'll be good, he'll be successful.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Bucky Ball headed to the Bahamas. I like the alliteration
- 1:42Speaker 1: battle for Atlantis, Big tournament every year down there, and
- 1:46Speaker 1: that's Thanksgiving Week. There's always some good teams there. They
- 1:52Speaker 1: were the Aggies were uh and this is from by
- 1:56Speaker 1: the way textags and they were supposed to play in
- 2:02Speaker 1: the Players Era that's in Vegas, but apparently they're going
- 2:08Speaker 1: to Atlanta, which is good. Lots of TV exposure that week.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I've said this many times. I love Thanksgiving Week for basketball.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Used to be college football, but NFL is not college
- 2:24Speaker 1: football out unfortunately not on Saturdays yet, but they probably will.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But man, there's good basketball. All the top twenty five
- 2:35Speaker 1: teams and more play and you get to see a
- 2:37Speaker 1: lot of games that week because there's tournaments everywhere. And
- 2:43Speaker 1: I've already volunteered, you know, to go cover Aggie basketball
- 2:48Speaker 1: Thanksgiving Week. Let's see new president of the cotton Ball
- 2:54Speaker 1: Rick Baker, of course, retired after like thirty eight years.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Dave Marmion, who was a cfp's chief financial officer and
- 3:05Speaker 1: chief revenue officer overseeing financial management, human resources, legal, contract sponsorship,
- 3:12Speaker 1: ticket sales, customer service. That sounds like a lot of work.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I had offered maybe to do that for a percentage
- 3:20Speaker 1: of the gate from college football playoffs, but I don't know.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It just seems like a lot of work to me.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So I'm I don't think I'm going to I don't
- 3:30Speaker 1: think I'm going to do that. Greg Sank says the
- 3:34Speaker 1: SEC is not going to play football on Friday nights,
- 3:37Speaker 1: that it's for high schools. He said they could make
- 3:40Speaker 1: more money, Greg, you don't need more money, honestly. Sank
- 3:46Speaker 1: also says he's still not for the twenty fourteen playoff,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and I don't disagree with that. You know, at twelve,
- 3:53Speaker 1: we've already seen first round blowouts. I don't disagree with that.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think sixteen is enough. We'll see. But he gave
- 4:08Speaker 1: his Greg Sank stamp of approval to college basketball going
- 4:16Speaker 1: to seventy six teams. I mean, it didn't matter because
- 4:19Speaker 1: they're already done it.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Well.
- 4:22Speaker 1: The Astros and Rangers will try to score runs tonight,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and that's that's a challenge. The Rangers are hosting Arizona.
- 4:31Speaker 1: The Astros are hosting the Mariners. We will have that
- 4:36Speaker 1: game on for you at six forty. That's a seven
- 4:42Speaker 1: to ten start and a programming note. The Astros play
- 4:46Speaker 1: at one ten Thursday afternoon, and we will be on
- 4:52Speaker 1: after Astros Baseball on Thursday. Okay, Scott Clendennon will join
- 4:58Speaker 1: us tomorrow. I'm sure we'll have topics. We always have
- 5:02Speaker 1: some topics. And NHL playoffs continue Sabers, Canadians, Ducks and
- 5:09Speaker 1: Golden Knights this evening. And speaking of that, we're gonna
- 5:15Speaker 1: jump out let's see, are we ready? Hey, right now,
- 5:24Speaker 1: we're going to jump out to the players fundset or
- 5:26Speaker 1: phone line and visit with the color analysts of the
- 5:29Speaker 1: Dallas Stars, the veteran the Hall of Famer Darryl Razor Ray.
- 5:36Speaker 1: We were just visiting. We shouldn't be talking right now.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We should be talking about six or eight weeks from now,
- 5:41Speaker 1: right true.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it is a little strange, you know, you become
- 5:48Speaker 5: accustomed to these wonderful runs in the spring, and when
- 5:54Speaker 5: the Stars are done, and when I'm done my job,
- 5:58Speaker 5: there's only two hockey teams to apply. It's a Stanley
- 6:00Speaker 5: Cup Final. And that's probably the weirdest part this year
- 6:06Speaker 5: is the fact that you know, on on any given night,
- 6:09Speaker 5: there's multiple games still going on, and that that feels
- 6:13Speaker 5: strange to a guy that's you know, followed a team
- 6:17Speaker 5: that's gone to back to back to back conference finals.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You know. I saw the postseason presser with with Jim
- 6:25Speaker 1: Nill last week, I guess, and honestly, it was kind
- 6:29Speaker 1: of like a deer in the headlights. I mean, he
- 6:31Speaker 1: was he certainly didn't expect to be watching other people
- 6:35Speaker 1: play right now but them And everybody's got injuries. I
- 6:41Speaker 1: get that everybody, But that was a long list he
- 6:45Speaker 1: put forth this year, wasn't it.
- 6:48Speaker 5: It was, you know, I was a little out of
- 6:51Speaker 5: the norm, especially going back and and you know, listing
- 6:56Speaker 5: out some injuries. I mean some of them happened in
- 6:59Speaker 5: training camp, yeah, you know, like, uh, but the ones
- 7:03Speaker 5: that that obviously impacted the series, the guys coming out
- 7:07Speaker 5: of the Olympics that that were injured in in Italy, uh,
- 7:12Speaker 5: you know, the stars. And I'm sure as much as
- 7:14Speaker 5: Jim was a participant as an assistant GM with Team Canada,
- 7:19Speaker 5: I don't think he's a huge fan. I know, our
- 7:22Speaker 5: owner Tom Gallardi is not a huge fan of of
- 7:25Speaker 5: participation because you come out of there, and you know
- 7:27Speaker 5: Raddock Fox that had a concussion and Ranton and had
- 7:32Speaker 5: injured his knee, and uh, you know, half a game
- 7:36Speaker 5: out of it. Uh, Rope Hints gets injured, he was
- 7:39Speaker 5: sick coming out of the Olympics. There was there was
- 7:41Speaker 5: a lot going on. And and that's the biggest thing,
- 7:44Speaker 5: like when you don't when you don't have a couple
- 7:47Speaker 5: of your your best players, and in particular a guy
- 7:51Speaker 5: like Hints, you know, a center hericeman and world class
- 7:55Speaker 5: two way guy, and you don't have that available when
- 7:57Speaker 5: you're playing as good a team as the Wild And
- 8:00Speaker 5: I know there. You know a lot of people are
- 8:02Speaker 5: going to say, well, they did it the year before,
- 8:04Speaker 5: they got through the Avs without Hayskin in and without Robertson,
- 8:09Speaker 5: but uh, and it was impressive, I mean, especially without
- 8:13Speaker 5: Miro heading into that series. But then you had the
- 8:17Speaker 5: all world heroic run of of Miko, Ranton and uh,
- 8:22Speaker 5: and it's sort of dampened all the losses of of
- 8:28Speaker 5: some offense from Robertson and and the guys on d
- 8:31Speaker 5: played great in h in Mirostead But it just felt
- 8:35Speaker 5: different this year. It felt like it felt like they
- 8:37Speaker 5: were they were missing a chunk and against a team
- 8:41Speaker 5: like the Wild that was, you know, hyper motivated to
- 8:44Speaker 5: ab Dallas and and get out of the first round
- 8:48Speaker 5: for the first time in forever. It was going to
- 8:50Speaker 5: be a daunting task that.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And hey, let's be honest, A really good team, Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: a really good team with some really good players. Which
- 8:59Speaker 1: takes me to the format. And I know it's been round,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but I guess Stars fans really pay attention this year
- 9:07Speaker 1: because of they had to play in the first round.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I mean, Anaheim's still playing in Dallas, isn't so to
- 9:13Speaker 1: me something's wrong with the format?
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I concur I wonder, I honestly wonder
- 9:20Speaker 5: what's going to happen here. You know, the commissioner of
- 9:23Speaker 5: the NHL, Gary Bettman, has been steadfast in his belief
- 9:29Speaker 5: in this system, like he loves it. And but the
- 9:33Speaker 5: change scene might come from the gms, who have a
- 9:38Speaker 5: lot of power in our sport. Because you're already seeing
- 9:42Speaker 5: in hearing even heading into our series. Bill Garon, the
- 9:45Speaker 5: GM of the Minnesota Wild, came out just like, hey,
- 9:48Speaker 5: this this is ridiculous. This needs to change. And I
- 9:52Speaker 5: would say probably, I don't know, eighty plus percent of
- 9:56Speaker 5: the players want it a different way because it like
- 10:01Speaker 5: like just look at this year, right, like the so
- 10:05Speaker 5: in the first round and you're got you have the
- 10:09Speaker 5: two three, and you have that in every division in
- 10:12Speaker 5: the league, all four divisions. Well, the team that had
- 10:15Speaker 5: home ice in every one of those series lost, so
- 10:19Speaker 5: there's there was no benefit to home ice, right, And
- 10:23Speaker 5: you you had a team that was that finished second
- 10:26Speaker 5: in their division, gone in a matter of two weeks
- 10:30Speaker 5: out of your out of your playoff scenario. And now
- 10:33Speaker 5: the Wilder looking at it, and you know, you're starting
- 10:36Speaker 5: to hear the rumblings because they lost last night. Yes,
- 10:39Speaker 5: they're like what how how can this be? Where you
- 10:43Speaker 5: finished third in the you know, in the in the
- 10:46Speaker 5: conference and you have to play Dallas and then Colorado,
- 10:51Speaker 5: who had the best record in the league.
- 10:54Speaker 1: We've seen that with the Stars too, right that the
- 10:57Speaker 1: gauntlet that they have had to run to get to
- 10:59Speaker 1: the intern Conference finals is really impressive.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, and then you you know, you gaze
- 11:06Speaker 5: over to the Eastern Conference and you're like, man, that's
- 11:08Speaker 5: a bit of a cake exactly, you know, trying to
- 11:11Speaker 5: get through, Like look at a team like Carolina and
- 11:13Speaker 5: they're a terrific hockey team. But they haven't lost the
- 11:16Speaker 5: game in the playoffs. Yeah, swept two rounds in a row.
- 11:20Speaker 5: You know, so if you looked at this year, you
- 11:22Speaker 5: bring up Anaheim, that that's who the Stars should have
- 11:25Speaker 5: been playing exactly in the first round like that, you
- 11:28Speaker 5: go one to eight, you go two seven. You know,
- 11:30Speaker 5: you run it like it used to be. And I
- 11:33Speaker 5: really believe that there's a groundswell of motivation to get
- 11:38Speaker 5: to get it changed, to get it changed.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Back Jason Robertson they're going to assign him.
- 11:45Speaker 5: God, I mean, there are so many different scenarios that
- 11:50Speaker 5: could take place. A lot of it is going to
- 11:53Speaker 5: be on Jason and his representation and how they view
- 12:00Speaker 5: you know, if they're going to strictly just go with hey,
- 12:04Speaker 5: here's the business and I'm worth this and I should
- 12:07Speaker 5: be making this, and you know he's going to feel
- 12:10Speaker 5: pressure from the NHLPA as well. You know, they're just
- 12:15Speaker 5: set a market. But if he just says, look, I
- 12:19Speaker 5: think we have the greatest chance to be a terrific
- 12:22Speaker 5: team and win championships here and I'll take a little
- 12:26Speaker 5: bit of the home town discount, then I think they
- 12:30Speaker 5: can sign them. But if it goes the other direction,
- 12:34Speaker 5: and you know, to be honest with you, the previous
- 12:37Speaker 5: contract negotiation doesn't give you a ton of hope just
- 12:41Speaker 5: because it was a holdout on that one too. I mean,
- 12:45Speaker 5: he could get offer sheeted. There could be a trade.
- 12:47Speaker 5: If they don't think it can come to agreement, you know,
- 12:50Speaker 5: maybe they can find a partner that way. It could
- 12:52Speaker 5: go all the way through the summer. He could hold
- 12:54Speaker 5: out in training camp, could miss a month of the
- 12:57Speaker 5: regular There's all kinds of things that could go on.
- 13:00Speaker 5: The biggest thing is the Stars want him, and on
- 13:05Speaker 5: his side of things, I think he wants I think
- 13:08Speaker 5: he wants to play here. I mean it's been a
- 13:11Speaker 5: terrific foundation for his career and he's certainly backed up.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Here's the problem though, right, He's backed up every number
- 13:21Speaker 5: and metric to say that he deserves a salary of
- 13:25Speaker 5: this level, and unfortunately, I don't know whether that fits
- 13:30Speaker 5: into the Stars scheme and plan and cap and all that.
- 13:35Speaker 5: The one thing that does help, though is the cap
- 13:37Speaker 5: going up this year overall, so there is extra money
- 13:40Speaker 5: in there to throw out a player like Jason. So again,
- 13:45Speaker 5: I think it's going to be one of those staring
- 13:48Speaker 5: contests for a bit and if he truly wants to
- 13:51Speaker 5: be here, it'll get done.
- 13:53Speaker 1: In your mind, what is lacking, if anything, for this
- 13:58Speaker 1: team to win a cup with this core group of
- 14:01Speaker 1: players over the next two three, four years.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Yeah, the one thing that has stuck out the last
- 14:08Speaker 5: couple of years is they've been probably too reliant on
- 14:13Speaker 5: their power play for offense, and it's been wicked. Like
- 14:16Speaker 5: it's a yeah, you know this year series this year
- 14:19Speaker 5: against the Wild and you can't point any finger at
- 14:23Speaker 5: the power play. It can't be better than really what
- 14:26Speaker 5: it was. But a lot of times those opportunities dry
- 14:30Speaker 5: up in the playoffs and they have if you look
- 14:33Speaker 5: at what went on against Edmonton, now what went on
- 14:37Speaker 5: this year in the opening round, Like they're struggling to
- 14:40Speaker 5: manufacture goals. So you know, that's some of your top
- 14:46Speaker 5: end guys on inability to score just in regular play,
- 14:51Speaker 5: and a lot of it is we call it the
- 14:54Speaker 5: middle six, if you will, So you sort of have
- 14:57Speaker 5: your second line and your third line, those six players
- 15:00Speaker 5: that are in there. Your fourth line is more of
- 15:03Speaker 5: a worker be thing and you know, penalty killers and
- 15:05Speaker 5: that type. But it's that middle six where if you
- 15:09Speaker 5: can get a little more offense out of there, which
- 15:12Speaker 5: they need at even strength, and and probably a little
- 15:16Speaker 5: bit more from from their defense corps. Yeah, I think
- 15:19Speaker 5: that would That would certainly help because a ton of
- 15:22Speaker 5: pressure has been put on Jake Ottinger and he look,
- 15:25Speaker 5: he wasn't the answer this spring. Like he was okay,
- 15:29Speaker 5: but they needed to be you know, exceptional. Yes, uh,
- 15:32Speaker 5: And he needs to be better consistently better come come
- 15:35Speaker 5: playoff time than what we've seen. He's had runs where
- 15:39Speaker 5: it's looked fantastic, and I always believe this. I think
- 15:43Speaker 5: you need I think you need some some wild cowboys
- 15:47Speaker 5: in there too. You need you need more of that
- 15:49Speaker 5: that can play if you know what I mean. Like
- 15:51Speaker 5: we used to call him rats or you know, they
- 15:54Speaker 5: were energy guys, but they could play up your lineup
- 15:57Speaker 5: and and contribute with with skill as well. I think
- 16:01Speaker 5: they need a little bit of that in my opinion.
- 16:05Speaker 5: They like they've got a very nice team. That's the
- 16:08Speaker 5: core of it is you know, finish and those guys
- 16:12Speaker 5: aren't extroverts by it stretch of the imagination.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Ye, you know, like you need it.
- 16:17Speaker 5: You need just a little more of that chess puffy Yes, Yes,
- 16:22Speaker 5: in the lineup. That's my belief anyway.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I always think they look half a step slow against
- 16:29Speaker 1: some teams, and maybe it's just Gwyn Hughes and McKinnon
- 16:32Speaker 1: make make everybody look slow. But still in the middle
- 16:37Speaker 1: they're skilled, certainly offensively, but you watch them every day.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I don't know what you think about that, but I
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't think this is the fastest team in the league.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Yeah, and I you know, it sticks out a little
- 16:50Speaker 5: bit more watching some of these other series, especially in
- 16:53Speaker 5: the East, like Montreal can fly. Yes, like there's a
- 16:57Speaker 5: ton of speed in their overall game. Some of it though,
- 17:01Speaker 5: is you know, like again I'll go back to you know,
- 17:06Speaker 5: if rope Hints is playing in that series, you might
- 17:08Speaker 5: not still the same way because there might only be one,
- 17:12Speaker 5: maybe two players in the league that are that are faster.
- 17:15Speaker 5: And some of it is how you play, like, yes,
- 17:19Speaker 5: like you know, nothing we've said since I was an infant.
- 17:23Speaker 5: You know, nothing moves faster on the ice than the puck.
- 17:26Speaker 5: You know, nobody skates faster than you can move the puck.
- 17:30Speaker 5: And that's where they got a little bit clogged at times,
- 17:33Speaker 5: and and probably fed what your eyes were seeing is
- 17:37Speaker 5: the fact that they just didn't. They didn't move the
- 17:40Speaker 5: puck well, and they didn't move the puck well in
- 17:43Speaker 5: that series, and because of that, they look they look
- 17:46Speaker 5: slow and choppy. But you know, you watched the game
- 17:49Speaker 5: last night between Colorado and the ass can fly. They've
- 17:51Speaker 5: got you know, McKinnon is a screamer and that, but
- 17:55Speaker 5: even they can get a little clunky in in in
- 17:59Speaker 5: games and that. So I think a lot of it
- 18:02Speaker 5: derives from from how you play, you know, maybe a
- 18:06Speaker 5: mix between like Pete de Bores teams were always kind of,
- 18:11Speaker 5: you know, stretch the ice and play fast and get
- 18:14Speaker 5: out of your own zone as quick as possible, and
- 18:16Speaker 5: Gullison's a little more tactical and you know you're gonna
- 18:20Speaker 5: have to piecemeal your way up the ice and hang
- 18:23Speaker 5: on to pucks and all that. Maybe something in between
- 18:26Speaker 5: the two of those would be the perfect scenario for
- 18:29Speaker 5: this team. But I'm not saying I'm in agreement with
- 18:33Speaker 5: you though. They could use a little more, They could
- 18:36Speaker 5: use a little more pace, And I think a lot
- 18:38Speaker 5: of that comes from probably from the back end. That's
- 18:41Speaker 5: where it sticks out right with a team like Minnesota, right,
- 18:46Speaker 5: you know, Thomas Harvey didn't have a great playoff he
- 18:49Speaker 5: can bring some of that. Miro can do more, Yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 5: you know he can. He's a beautiful skater, a guy
- 18:55Speaker 5: like Neil's Lund twist that got injured, skates beautifully. There's
- 18:58Speaker 5: three of your six, yes, just like that, right, So
- 19:01Speaker 5: it's it's there. Maybe some of it is just you know,
- 19:05Speaker 5: how it was deployed or how those individuals played.
- 19:10Speaker 1: How would you grade the first year under Gallison?
- 19:14Speaker 5: I thought it was fantastic, I really do you know
- 19:17Speaker 5: he tried to inject or he didn't try to. He
- 19:21Speaker 5: did inject into the into the group, this idea that
- 19:26Speaker 5: you're going to have to play a certain way come
- 19:29Speaker 5: playoff time. We're going to play that way as much
- 19:33Speaker 5: as possible all season long, and because it can't just
- 19:38Speaker 5: be a flick of a switch, you know, to take
- 19:42Speaker 5: you to you know, a harder game or whatever whatever
- 19:46Speaker 5: you want to call it. And unfortunately they did all
- 19:51Speaker 5: they did all that, I mean one hundred and twelve points,
- 19:53Speaker 5: and they set some records. They had two forty goal scorers,
- 19:56Speaker 5: They finished second overall essentially in the league. But come
- 20:01Speaker 5: playoff time they were dinged up and they didn't play
- 20:03Speaker 5: that way. And that must be really frustrating to Glenn
- 20:08Speaker 5: because they they had they had installed that all season
- 20:12Speaker 5: and they were starting to look like, all right, I
- 20:14Speaker 5: want to see the team that can get through this.
- 20:16Speaker 5: And then it's sort of evaporated in that series some
- 20:20Speaker 5: some because of who wasn't playing and a little bit
- 20:24Speaker 5: of how they were playing. So, you know, from a
- 20:27Speaker 5: media standpoint, you couldn't get a better guy. He's a
- 20:31Speaker 5: terrific individual to deal with, and I I understand and
- 20:36Speaker 5: and am in uh lockstep with a lot of what
- 20:41Speaker 5: his beliefs are. And I think it. I think it
- 20:44Speaker 5: can win. H So you know, going forward, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 5: you need a little bit of luck with with injuries.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Maybe it maybe it takes a whole season to sort
- 20:55Speaker 5: of get this to take hold and be truly a
- 20:58Speaker 5: part of their DNA. I don't I don't know. You know,
- 21:03Speaker 5: we'll see what they do coming back after a lengthy offseason.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Everybody gets to you know, train for the season and yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 5: and mend some wounds in that and see how it
- 21:13Speaker 5: works next year. But I thought he did an excellent job.
- 21:16Speaker 5: I really do.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Why does if this team show up in game one
- 21:19Speaker 1: of playoffs.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Oh my god, you know what, like it's it's become
- 21:26Speaker 5: I think it's become too much of a ah. That's
- 21:29Speaker 5: you know, there's the Stars again. That's what they do.
- 21:32Speaker 5: They lose Game one.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Like, well it cost him continuing to play in my opinion.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Well yeah, and what it what it does in a
- 21:41Speaker 5: lot of ways is you know, like I told the
- 21:44Speaker 5: story this year, I said, it's going to be difficult
- 21:47Speaker 5: to do this because you're playing Minnesota. But if you
- 21:51Speaker 5: look back, like the last time this team swept a
- 21:54Speaker 5: series was in nineteen ninety nine when they won the Cup.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Good gosh, I had no idea, And it was.
- 22:02Speaker 5: So important back in ninety nine that they got through
- 22:05Speaker 5: the Edmonton Oilers as quickly as possible, because the Oilers
- 22:08Speaker 5: came out and tried to kill them every spring. They
- 22:11Speaker 5: were incredible playoff series, but there was like I think
- 22:16Speaker 5: there was like a forty or fifty million dollar difference
- 22:19Speaker 5: in the in the payrolls, Like the Stars had this
- 22:24Speaker 5: massive amount of talent compared to the Edmonton Oilers, but
- 22:27Speaker 5: they even did with tenacity and physicality and tried to
- 22:31Speaker 5: kill them. Yeah, and when they you know, if you
- 22:35Speaker 5: can't get through somebody in four or five games early
- 22:38Speaker 5: in the playoffs, I think it. I think it takes
- 22:41Speaker 5: a toll and you just run it again. Teams run
- 22:44Speaker 5: again to get to the third round.
- 22:46Speaker 1: They have nothing left, which what And you just brought
- 22:50Speaker 1: that up, But that brings me back to the schedule
- 22:52Speaker 1: and having to play these kind of teams in the
- 22:55Speaker 1: first two rounds and go seven. You know, you know,
- 22:58Speaker 1: even if you win, you're going having against you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: really great teams.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I'm with you, like, I do not understand the mindset
- 23:06Speaker 5: behind it, because if you're spending all seasons just from
- 23:10Speaker 5: a marketing.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Stand exactly.
- 23:13Speaker 5: All season as a league and you're saying, Okay, these
- 23:17Speaker 5: are our best teams, these are our best players, you
- 23:21Speaker 5: want them to play as deeply into the playoffs as
- 23:24Speaker 5: you as you can without artificially manufacturing it. But you
- 23:28Speaker 5: kind of are with a different system because you want that.
- 23:32Speaker 5: You want your best teams meeting up in the second
- 23:35Speaker 5: third and then ultimately the Stanley Cup Final, but you
- 23:39Speaker 5: want them to have something left because the problem a
- 23:43Speaker 5: lot of times is, yeah, maybe those teams get through,
- 23:46Speaker 5: but they're so beat up and exhausted and injured that
- 23:50Speaker 5: the quality isn't there. The depth has been eroded a
- 23:53Speaker 5: little bit like I think it's a mistake, I really do,
- 23:57Speaker 5: and the stars have lived it a little bit because
- 23:59Speaker 5: of you know, back to your question, like I think,
- 24:03Speaker 5: I think it's ridiculous. I really do you go all
- 24:06Speaker 5: season long to earn home ice and then you you
- 24:10Speaker 5: just you know, squander it, like just kick it to
- 24:13Speaker 5: the curb in game one because you're not ready. You're
- 24:17Speaker 5: not ready to go. Like, to me, that's inexcusable, and
- 24:20Speaker 5: it's it's it's catching up to them and it forces you.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Even if you're the better team. You lose game one
- 24:27Speaker 5: at home, you're like, Okay, this is probably going at
- 24:30Speaker 5: least six yep, now yeah, and probably seven. And that's
- 24:35Speaker 5: what it has done over and over again. So they
- 24:37Speaker 5: need to fix that big time.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Well, I could talk hockey with you all night, but
- 24:42Speaker 1: I don't want to mess up your tea time this
- 24:44Speaker 1: time of year.
- 24:47Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I can't thank you enough. Man. I love watching your broadcast.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I hope you can do this just a few more
- 24:55Speaker 1: years because I'm not gonna be around too much longer.
- 24:56Speaker 1: But but I hope you're still doing games in a
- 24:59Speaker 1: few years.
- 25:00Speaker 5: Well, we'll make a pact with one another.
- 25:01Speaker 1: We'll keep doing it.
- 25:02Speaker 5: We'll keep doing it until one of.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Us says, no, mo, that's a great deal right there.

- 27:09Speaker 1: Looks like Dad has the bags. Daughter is bringing up
- 27:12Speaker 1: the rear.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Oh but the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys
- 27:17Speaker 2: are everywhere. Ooh but mom has just nailed the perfect
- 27:21Speaker 2: car seat buckle.
- 27:22Speaker 7: For the toddler.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And now the eldest daughter, who looks to be about
- 27:26Speaker 1: nine or.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Ten, has secured herself in the booster seat. Dad zips
- 27:29Speaker 2: the bag closed and they're off.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Ah.
- 27:33Speaker 2: It looks like Mom doesn't realize her coffee cup is
- 27:35Speaker 2: still on the roof of the car.
- 27:37Speaker 5: And there it goes.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Oh, that's a shame that mug was a fam favorite.

- 29:05Speaker 11: she said it was the best in all dy.
- 29:07Speaker 7: Lin No, no, no, no, I don't smoke it no more.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I'm tired to wake it up on the phone. You're
- 29:16Speaker 1: listening to the best of Mallory. Mallory is brought to
- 29:20Speaker 1: us by Southwest card World. And I know this is
- 29:26Speaker 1: shocking to all of us. But a new allegation of
- 29:31Speaker 1: domestic violets has surfaced against Taylor Frankie Paul. She's been
- 29:38Speaker 1: further thrust into the spotlight after, of course, the video
- 29:42Speaker 1: was released showing a violent altercation between her and her
- 29:47Speaker 1: ex partner Dakota. The footage, connected with an assault charge
- 29:52Speaker 1: in which she pleaded guilty, forced the cancelation of The Bachelorette.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Now NBC is reporting the Norman Mom fluencer, That's what
- 30:04Speaker 1: it says, Mom fluencer. Do you want this? Do you
- 30:09Speaker 1: want this person influencing other moms? Is being invested. I
- 30:15Speaker 1: just read it. I did write it. I just read it.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Is being investigated for another alleged domestic violence incident. The
- 30:26Speaker 1: NBC's reporting today that Utah police were investigating an allegation
- 30:30Speaker 1: of domestic violence brought against Paul by Mortensen in February,
- 30:36Speaker 1: stemming from an encounter in twenty twenty four. If you're counting,
- 30:41Speaker 1: that's three allegations. Jeez, do you think anger management would help?
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'm just saying, right, Okay, I don't know.
- 30:54Speaker 8: So it didn't.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I feel like, okay, it happened in twenty twenty something.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Who knows the first one? The first one was twenty three, okay,
- 31:03Speaker 1: then twenty four, then twenty five. I think there's like
- 31:06Speaker 1: one a year.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Guys, don't you think you should just stop? See? I mean,
- 31:12Speaker 4: I know you have kids, but maybe don't.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Don't don't slug each other in front of them. Maybe no,
- 31:20Speaker 1: just say it.
- 31:21Speaker 4: I mean, I think they're both probably terrible people who
- 31:25Speaker 4: were never told you no as children.
- 31:27Speaker 1: And by the way, by the way, now they are.
- 31:29Speaker 1: The opinions you hear on this show do not necessarily
- 31:33Speaker 1: reflect those of the station, the management, or the host. Okay,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I got that out of the way. You're good. Yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 1: you're good. No, you're good. Opinion, you're good, you're good.
- 31:47Speaker 1: We we did the disclaimer.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Just say no, I don't know, don't don't hit people
- 31:53Speaker 4: I don't know, I mean kindergarten.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, some some of it, some of it takes,
- 32:00Speaker 1: some of it just goes right over their heads, you
- 32:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And true, I just maybe an
- 32:06Speaker 1: anger management class might help, and and maybe maybe put
- 32:12Speaker 1: down the alcohol.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Now that's another great suggestion. Chip.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Now here's the deal. She's Mormon. She ain't supposed to
- 32:20Speaker 1: be having alcohol. But I don't think she's supposed to
- 32:23Speaker 1: be hitting her living partner. And I don't think she's
- 32:27Speaker 1: supposed to have a living living partner. She can have
- 32:29Speaker 1: seven husbands. That's okay.
- 32:32Speaker 4: But see, Okay, that's your opinion now, so you're jump.
- 32:36Speaker 1: No, no, not an opinion. I believe she's entitled.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Well maybe not legally, but maybe and there anyways.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Okay, right, let's do let's do this. Let's do let's
- 32:52Speaker 1: do a Sean Diddy Combe story. Usher Usher is explaining
- 32:58Speaker 1: why he still has a great deal of respect for
- 33:03Speaker 1: p Diddy Puffy. In a recent interview with Forbes The
- 33:07Speaker 1: Enterprise Zone, Usher spoke candidly about his decades long relationship
- 33:14Speaker 1: with the music mogul, who is currently serving a fifty
- 33:17Speaker 1: month prison sentence after being convicted on two prostitution related charges.
- 33:25Speaker 1: During the conversation, Forbes senior writer Jabbari Young did a
- 33:28Speaker 1: bit of word association, asking Usher his one word thoughts
- 33:32Speaker 1: on influential people when it came to Ditty. Usher replied
- 33:37Speaker 1: legacy Young reference to past interview Usher did around twenty
- 33:41Speaker 1: fifteen when he mentioned that he quote knew better than
- 33:44Speaker 1: to get distracted by certain things while on tour. After
- 33:48Speaker 1: Young said Usher managed to avoid quote a lot of
- 33:51Speaker 1: negativity that we obviously know shows up in Ditty's story,
- 33:55Speaker 1: Usher clarified his stance, saying his controversial take was that quote,
- 34:00Speaker 1: we can't ignore the reality of the history. So there
- 34:06Speaker 1: you and I'm assuming again he's talking about his musical history,
- 34:11Speaker 1: not his partying days.
- 34:16Speaker 8: Well, I'm gonna be real.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, I can't help.
- 34:19Speaker 8: But even music days are checkered.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I don't know, Yeah, but I can't. I can't help
- 34:24Speaker 1: but think that everybody that knew this guy and hung
- 34:26Speaker 1: out with this guy knew what he was doing. Right.
- 34:30Speaker 8: Of course he's probably he's probably a little scared. Yeah,
- 34:33Speaker 8: you know, there's blackmail.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Can you do?
- 34:36Speaker 12: There?
- 34:36Speaker 8: You go, maybe just say no comment.
- 34:39Speaker 1: No comment. That's what I'm doing.
- 34:42Speaker 8: Well, let's just get the.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Sad news out of the way too, Okay. So Savannah
- 34:46Speaker 4: gun three is speaking out about her mother, Nancy gun
- 34:49Speaker 4: three is kidnapping. In the first public interview, of course,
- 34:52Speaker 4: on the Today Show, they did play a preview of
- 34:56Speaker 4: the emotional interview between Savannah and Hode during Wednesday mornings,
- 35:00Speaker 4: This Morning's pod brought broadcast, and it shows a heart
- 35:04Speaker 4: broken Savannah describing the intense pain her family feels. She's
- 35:08Speaker 4: in tears and pleaded. Someone needs to do the right thing.
- 35:11Speaker 4: We are in agony. It is unbearable and to think
- 35:14Speaker 4: that of what she went through, Savannah continues, I wake
- 35:18Speaker 4: up every night, in the middle of the night, every night,
- 35:21Speaker 4: and in the darkness, I imagine the terror are her terror,
- 35:24Speaker 4: and it's unthinkable. But those thoughts demand to be her,
- 35:29Speaker 4: demand to be thought, and I will not hide my face.
- 35:32Speaker 4: But she needs to come home.
- 35:37Speaker 8: That's so crazy.
- 35:38Speaker 1: That's a long time. I just can't help but think
- 35:42Speaker 1: she's not with us well.
- 35:45Speaker 4: And I think you probably have come to that realization,
- 35:48Speaker 4: which is probably why she's saying, like the terror she
- 35:50Speaker 4: went through a past tense or it is pasted in
- 35:54Speaker 4: this kind of So I mean, I don't ever want to.
- 35:58Speaker 8: I don't know. I can't pretend like I know she's
- 36:00Speaker 8: going through. I never want to go through anything like that.
- 36:02Speaker 8: I don't think anyone does.
- 36:04Speaker 4: But that's really sad, and you know, I just hope,
- 36:07Speaker 4: I hope they do get her back. You know, Yeah,
- 36:09Speaker 4: obviously they kind of know what the conditions, unfortunately will be.
- 36:13Speaker 1: But sore. Here's some more sad news. Oh, disappointing box
- 36:20Speaker 1: office results in the John Wick universe. The spinoff is
- 36:26Speaker 1: officially set to start production next month. Okay, not only
- 36:33Speaker 1: will the Hong Kong film Legend return as the blind
- 36:38Speaker 1: assassin introduced in John Wick Chapter four, Donnie Yin has
- 36:46Speaker 1: also been tapped to direct, and he's aiming to deliver quote,
- 36:50Speaker 1: the most definitive martial arts a fuse infused action film
- 36:56Speaker 1: ever made. John Wick four Cain was introduced as an
- 37:03Speaker 1: old friend of John's who is forced out of retirement
- 37:06Speaker 1: in order to kill Wick or Caine's daughter will be
- 37:10Speaker 1: murdered in the end. I hope I'm not giving stuff away.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Cain teams up with Wick to defeat rival assassins and
- 37:17Speaker 1: returns to Paris to reunite with his daughter, having been
- 37:21Speaker 1: freed of the threat against him, but he soon approached
- 37:24Speaker 1: by a knife wilding a Kira who is looking to
- 37:29Speaker 1: avenge the death of her own father at the hands
- 37:32Speaker 1: of Kate Reeves. Telling Entertainment Weekly of bringing you into
- 37:39Speaker 1: the Wick world, he's obviously a legend in action movies.
- 37:44Speaker 1: He's such a fantastic actor and artist. Wick director Chad
- 37:52Speaker 1: Stahelski needed to get involved with the Anna Diarmis led
- 37:56Speaker 1: film and lead major reshoots being expanding the role of Wick,
- 38:02Speaker 1: but the battery of film ended up making three hundred
- 38:06Speaker 1: million dollars less than John Wick.
- 38:11Speaker 8: Four, so that the sad news.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it didn't. It didn't do well.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Yeah, didn't do it.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Before Steve Carell auditioned for the life changing role of
- 38:27Speaker 1: Michael Scott in The Office, Paul Rudd said, don't do it. Correl.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Appearing on the latest episode of Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast,
- 38:38Speaker 1: they discussed how negatively everyone reacted to the initial news
- 38:42Speaker 1: of NBC doing the remake of Ricky Gervas's British comedy
- 38:48Speaker 1: This is a terrible idea, Polar recalled, thinking no one
- 38:52Speaker 1: could be as good as Ricky Gervas. No one can
- 38:55Speaker 1: do that show. Rudd felt the same way as Carrel
- 38:59Speaker 1: was mulling over the chance to go over the role
- 39:02Speaker 1: of dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott. I just I laughed,
- 39:06Speaker 1: saying that Rudd, they were shooting Anchorman together, gave him
- 39:11Speaker 1: the worst advice of all time. He says. Rudd pulled
- 39:15Speaker 1: me aside, was like, don't do it, man, don't audition.
- 39:19Speaker 1: It was like, there's no way. Correll added he essentially
- 39:24Speaker 1: was told not to touch the show with a ten
- 39:27Speaker 1: foot poll. Correl said our pilot was the lowest testing
- 39:32Speaker 1: pilot in the history of NBC. People really hated it.
- 39:36Speaker 1: They actively hated it, and I don't know how it
- 39:40Speaker 1: got legs after that, but man, oh man, it was
- 39:45Speaker 1: a great show. Correll calls himself a poor man's Ricky Gervais,
- 39:51Speaker 1: admitting he has watched all of the Jervas shows. I
- 39:56Speaker 1: watched a minute of one and he was so good,
- 39:59Speaker 1: so specific, so funny. I thought, if I watched one
- 40:02Speaker 1: second more, I'm just gonna go in on audition with that.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I won't be able to even imagine it a different way. Well,
- 40:09Speaker 1: guess what, he knocked it out of the park, right.
- 40:14Speaker 4: So don't listen to your friend's advice.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Don't take any of your friend's advice ever.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Don't take any career advice from your friend.
- 40:22Speaker 8: Yeah, especially if they're in the same field.
- 40:25Speaker 4: To be fair, though, I don't know who else could
- 40:28Speaker 4: have right.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You're right, so you're right. But he did good for you.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Good for you, Steve Carrell. It you funny guy.
- 40:38Speaker 8: I get it.

- 42:21Speaker 4: The room had so much love for her all night.
- 42:23Speaker 4: It's probably because it was an intimate party and she
- 42:26Speaker 4: was so happy to be surrounded by family and friends.
- 42:30Speaker 4: She also marked to Milestone with her family members, including
- 42:33Speaker 4: her three children.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Wait a minute, you want to try, Yes, I do, Okay, okay,
- 42:40Speaker 1: Moses Apple, no, rumor no.

- 43:42Speaker 1: a better agent.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Well there's another thing you did miss out on. Okay,
- 43:47Speaker 4: Jennifer Gardner's.
- 43:49Speaker 8: Once again, you're talking.
- 43:51Speaker 1: You're talking about Jennifer Garner. Right, yeah, that's what I.
- 43:54Speaker 8: Said, Jennifer Gardner.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Okay, what did I say?
- 43:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you put a d in there. We no Ken

- 44:09Speaker 8: Okay, anyways, she has signed.
- 44:12Speaker 1: By the way, I love her. I'm a big Jennifer
- 44:15Speaker 1: Gardner fan. She's been here, you know, she's been she's
- 44:21Speaker 1: been to a football game.
- 44:22Speaker 8: It seems nice. I don't know her.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, her dad was in the military. They came to
- 44:27Speaker 1: a game a few years ago. It was all over
- 44:30Speaker 1: the social media and I'm missed her.
- 44:32Speaker 8: Come on back, Jennifer.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll treat you better. I'll take you to dinner.
- 44:36Speaker 1: We'll go to Jack on the Box drive through about midnight.
- 44:41Speaker 8: That's what It's real good.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Hey, how could she? How could she not accept that?
- 44:47Speaker 1: How could she not accept that invitation?
- 44:52Speaker 8: Who would it?
- 44:53Speaker 1: I mean, if you if you wouldn't get a salad,
- 44:55Speaker 1: get a salad?
- 44:56Speaker 4: I mean, you know, but maybe if you have higher standards.
- 45:00Speaker 4: But I mean why not?
- 45:01Speaker 1: I mean, how could you have How could you have
- 45:04Speaker 1: higher standards that Jack in the Box drive through at midnight? Seriously,

- 45:24Speaker 4: thirteen Going on thirty, which is a wrong com It
- 45:28Speaker 4: was very iconic when it came out for Netflix. Okay,
- 45:32Speaker 4: so Emily Vader, who I guess is People We Meet
- 45:36Speaker 4: on Vacation and Logan lure.
- 45:38Speaker 8: These people not have easier names for me.
- 45:41Speaker 4: We'll take on the leading romantic roles from Gardner in
- 45:44Speaker 4: Mark find of this guy and.
- 45:47Speaker 8: I can't say his name, Rephelia. It doesn't matter with
- 45:52Speaker 8: the script.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Mark Ruffalo, that one, that one, that's the one rhymes
- 45:57Speaker 1: with buffalo.
- 46:00Speaker 8: That's good, that makes sense. It's literally that with an R.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Okay, I gotta, I gotta stop overthinking these words and names.
- 46:07Speaker 8: Anyways.
- 46:07Speaker 4: The film will be directed by Brett Haley, reuniting the
- 46:10Speaker 4: director who recently helmed the Streamers adaptation of People We
- 46:14Speaker 4: Meet on Vacation, starring more of the people that I
- 46:18Speaker 4: already named. Anyways, it's gonna be funny, emotional, deeply human
- 46:23Speaker 4: with unforgettable performance past.
- 46:26Speaker 8: This is what they're talking about. Thirteen going on thirty.
- 46:29Speaker 1: So she's she's like, I'm a longtime fan. She's like
- 46:32Speaker 1: producing mess and getting paid for it.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Basically on her Yeah, she's an executive producer.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I mean she does those credit she does those credit
- 46:42Speaker 1: card commercials, you know, for Capital One. She's making a fortune.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And by the way, for people who are listening. I
- 46:50Speaker 1: want to be I want to make a commercial. That
- 46:53Speaker 1: is the sweetest money going. You spend half the day
- 46:57Speaker 1: you make a commercial. You keep getting the residual wells
- 47:00Speaker 1: long after it's done. These people make bank on these commercials.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I want to do one of those. I want to
- 47:06Speaker 1: do one with with Charles Barkley and Samuel L. Jackson
- 47:10Speaker 1: and Spike Lee and Jennifer Garner. That's that's I want
- 47:14Speaker 1: to do one of those Capital one basketball in C
- 47:17Speaker 1: double A commercials.
- 47:18Speaker 4: Okay, I'm pretty sure Charles Barkley. I could be wrong,
- 47:22Speaker 4: but I think he's one doing one of those diets.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he is. He's lost, he's lost forty five pounds.
- 47:28Speaker 1: He looks awesome.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Guys, look, if you don't have much of a career
- 47:33Speaker 4: to sign on to be a commercial, that.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Is, man, that is the sweet sweet spot right there.
- 47:40Speaker 1: And if you're hey, if you're if you're Shaquille O'Neil
- 47:44Speaker 1: or Peyton Manning or Charles Barkley, they're just gonna throw
- 47:49Speaker 1: barrels of money at you for standing in front of
- 47:52Speaker 1: the camera. Barrels.
- 47:55Speaker 8: How do they They probably lose track.
- 47:57Speaker 1: They're making bank. Man, I mean they are maying bank ten.
