- 0:02Speaker 1: Minnesota basketball fans. Welcome back to the Living and Loserville Podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I am your host, Chris Carlson. We are live on
- 0:10Speaker 1: a Sunday night, and now we officially know who the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Timberwolves are playing, and that of course is Oklahoma City,
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Oklahoma City Thunder. They are the favorites. I saw
- 0:24Speaker 1: a tweet now just saying that sentence, can you know,
- 0:30Speaker 1: be a bad thing as far as lies and misinformation. However,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm wondering if this is true. It said that, and
- 0:39Speaker 1: I think it was just the Western Conference Final that
- 0:43Speaker 1: they have like the the biggest it's like the largest
- 0:47Speaker 1: gap when it comes to odds ever over the Timberwolves.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And you know, I'm a Timberwolves fan. I try to
- 0:57Speaker 1: be somewhat non biased as a fan and kind of
- 1:00Speaker 1: a part time media member, but that kind of blows
- 1:06Speaker 1: me away. I think that's Vegas is Vegas, don't get
- 1:10Speaker 1: me wrong, but it kind of feels a little disrespectful
- 1:17Speaker 1: considering they just got of it out of a seven
- 1:20Speaker 1: game series. But I'll have to do a little bit
- 1:24Speaker 1: more research on that if that is in fact a
- 1:29Speaker 1: true statement. I knew they were the clean favorite, no doubt.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Even I think it was when that series was three
- 1:40Speaker 1: to two, the thunder her up and so I knew
- 1:44Speaker 1: because they kind of had the odds for Denver and
- 1:47Speaker 1: Oklahoma City going against Minnesota once Minnesota advanced last Wednesday,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and it was about a fifty to fifty even you know, odds.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I think we're just a slight favorite. Both of them
- 2:00Speaker 1: are minus nobody had a plus number, and you know,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I guess on on the same side, Minnesota fans this
- 2:10Speaker 1: year and coming off of last year's playoffs would be like, dude,
- 2:14Speaker 1: that's bullshit. We should be a larger favorite. So and
- 2:19Speaker 1: it has been what six straight against them or something
- 2:21Speaker 1: like that, so that obviously plays into it. But in
- 2:23Speaker 1: the same breath, I like that we're underdogs because think
- 2:29Speaker 1: about it, our team, in our best player ant, we've
- 2:34Speaker 1: won six in a row. We won what three out
- 2:38Speaker 1: of four in Denver to win that series, So yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: we've won six in a row. Now against Denver, you
- 2:45Speaker 1: know that would probably have our result in having our
- 2:49Speaker 1: guard down, especially game one like we just did if
- 2:53Speaker 1: you remember correctly, in game one in this series. So
- 2:59Speaker 1: I don't know what I think about that. I understand,
- 3:02Speaker 1: like analytically, point differential and all this stuff. And I'm
- 3:08Speaker 1: not trying to act like point differential doesn't mean anything.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But you know, okay, SE is like on paper the
- 3:18Speaker 1: best regular season team almost you know it's up there.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Obviously it's not. But the way people talk about it
- 3:26Speaker 1: mostly analytically though, and like I said, a lot of
- 3:31Speaker 1: times the eye tests. You can look up the stats
- 3:34Speaker 1: and go, oh, yeah, that's about right right. Sometimes you know,
- 3:38Speaker 1: things surprise you or whatever. But I like it. I
- 3:42Speaker 1: love that we start on the road. I love that
- 3:45Speaker 1: worthy underdog because it suits us best. It just does,
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know, it just does. So we will kind of
- 3:55Speaker 1: when I say we, it's just me today, but we're
- 4:00Speaker 1: we are going to get this through together, right, We're
- 4:03Speaker 1: going to talk it through, even though it's a one
- 4:05Speaker 1: sided conversation with myself. We're gonna talk through a little
- 4:10Speaker 1: bit of the Laker stuff, I know, or the Golden
- 4:13Speaker 1: this it's been so long I forgot who the hell
- 4:15Speaker 1: we played the Golden State kind of how the last
- 4:19Speaker 1: few games, and just talk a little bit about that.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Life got in the way last Sunday. I did mean
- 4:26Speaker 1: to do a show, but I had to work much
- 4:28Speaker 1: later than expected, and I was just the way this
- 4:32Speaker 1: series was going. It was like, all right, we're up
- 4:34Speaker 1: three to one. Why do a show and then have
- 4:36Speaker 1: to turn right around or even do it at this
- 4:38Speaker 1: last Thursday? Okay, great wrap up Golden State and then
- 4:42Speaker 1: you know, two days later to a show. So I figure,
- 4:45Speaker 1: why not just get a fresh start. So obviously Tuesday
- 4:49Speaker 1: and everybody, you know, I'm a night out, but everybody's
- 4:51Speaker 1: pretty happy about you know, the seven thirty starts. I
- 4:54Speaker 1: think there's even a seven start if I remember correctly. Anyway,
- 4:58Speaker 1: so we're going to talk a little bit about the
- 5:00Speaker 1: Golden State series, you know, and clearly that would have
- 5:05Speaker 1: been a much more difficult series with Steph. I'm not saying,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you know, you lose the series, per se. I wouldn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: just base it off that game one because that Game
- 5:16Speaker 1: one was kind of like the Timberwolves. You know, they
- 5:19Speaker 1: came out lacking, they came out without urgency, and I
- 5:25Speaker 1: don't think that'll be the case in this series. But yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 1: we'll kind of talk about how we got here with
- 5:35Speaker 1: the five game stuff and in some of the keys
- 5:38Speaker 1: to it, and I'll and I'll do a little bit
- 5:40Speaker 1: of my notes from the games, trying not to bore
- 5:42Speaker 1: you too much with that and then preview and predict,
- 5:45Speaker 1: not just preview, but this podcast predicts. And yeah, that's
- 5:51Speaker 1: a little bit of a shot out there the series,
- 5:56Speaker 1: so you know before where I get too far into it.

- 7:20Speaker 1: you want the Ultimate package, that's eighty nine ninety nine.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That's over one hundred and sixty channels. That's for the
- 7:26Speaker 1: first month, and then the premiere package. Okay, this is Cinemax.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I almost said Skinmax Max, which they're going to turn
- 7:36Speaker 1: back to HBO Max Showtime or Paramount with Showtime Stars
- 7:41Speaker 1: one ninety nine for the first month. Okay, that's direct
- 7:47Speaker 1: TV stream. So you know the players, obviously, we don't
- 7:54Speaker 1: want them reflecting on the season and patent each other
- 7:58Speaker 1: on the bat back too much, right, And you could
- 8:01Speaker 1: kind of tell maybe it was because they've kind of
- 8:04Speaker 1: been there, done that a little bit and then kind
- 8:07Speaker 1: of not got smoked. They didn't get smoked in the
- 8:11Speaker 1: even though it was only five games against Dallas, the
- 8:13Speaker 1: first three games they get, they didn't get smoked. You know,
- 8:17Speaker 1: they just didn't execute offensively. Obviously. We know Kat struggled
- 8:22Speaker 1: from three in that in that series. Maybe it was
- 8:26Speaker 1: because Curry you know, left that game one. But they
- 8:31Speaker 1: were they were happy, but they weren't freaking out. They
- 8:35Speaker 1: weren't popping champagne, not like you do that. What is
- 8:37Speaker 1: the only sport you do that? Each round is baseball, right,
- 8:41Speaker 1: which I always I know it's a long season, but
- 8:46Speaker 1: that always rubbed me the wrong way, and let you know,
- 8:49Speaker 1: when I was a kid, I liked it. But anyway,
- 8:55Speaker 1: they did seem more business like. After that Game one,
- 9:00Speaker 1: they knew Kurry was out. Obviously you didn't know if
- 9:04Speaker 1: he's gonna be able to come back. Game six, it
- 9:06Speaker 1: was likely not the case, but you had an opportunity
- 9:09Speaker 1: there that these next four games, you know, you got
- 9:13Speaker 1: to handle business, whether it's ugly, whether it's pretty, whether
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's a mix of it. And it kind of was
- 9:20Speaker 1: you have to take care of business. You just you
- 9:22Speaker 1: just do, and they did. They did, so that is
- 9:29Speaker 1: a step in the right direction. So I do. I
- 9:34Speaker 1: do think the experience kind of that hunger, kind of
- 9:38Speaker 1: that focus. It sounds you know from Finch anyway, it
- 9:42Speaker 1: sounds like in the practices they've been very business like.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I think the whole thing last year really helps us
- 9:49Speaker 1: as far as experience. Now OKC has experience and they
- 9:54Speaker 1: got to the second round lost a Dallas last year.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They just got done facing a former shamp a couple
- 10:00Speaker 1: of years ago right from Denver. Not the same squad
- 10:04Speaker 1: as they had that year, but still a very fierce
- 10:08Speaker 1: competitive team. It went seven games, so they're probably getting
- 10:13Speaker 1: something out of that too. But either way, it's not
- 10:15Speaker 1: like we kind of blew our load. Let's put it
- 10:20Speaker 1: that way, because we know that seven game series the
- 10:23Speaker 1: way it played out, to be down three to two
- 10:26Speaker 1: after being up to oh on the road and to
- 10:30Speaker 1: dramatically have a comeback, you know, in that seventh game,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it took a lot onto us and and we had
- 10:38Speaker 1: to go right into it, right into that next series.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And that's exactly what OKAC has to do. Now. It
- 10:43Speaker 1: didn't necessarily we get a little sip of water. It
- 10:48Speaker 1: didn't necessarily it wasn't that, it wasn't that you know,
- 10:52Speaker 1: where they did this dramatic comeback or whatever. But I
- 10:55Speaker 1: still had to go seven. And they're a young team
- 10:59Speaker 1: for the most part. But it can be mentally and
- 11:03Speaker 1: physically right not to get that extra day or two.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And by the way, it's every other day from here
- 11:10Speaker 1: on out in this series. Obviously, knock on wood, if
- 11:14Speaker 1: you make the finals, you get gaps in there. But
- 11:18Speaker 1: and just in case it goes Sunday, June first game seven,
- 11:25Speaker 1: there would be three days off because it would start
- 11:31Speaker 1: the fifth, Thursday. Is that the fourth or the fifth? First? Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 1: so yeah, it'd be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off. So it's
- 11:41Speaker 1: the fifth. So even if we went seven, we'd at
- 11:43Speaker 1: least get some time off. But that's neither here or there.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Here I am getting ahead of it. I'd say, I
- 11:50Speaker 1: just obviously we're in a better spot. We know, we
- 11:53Speaker 1: didn't beat a top level team, per se. Now, that
- 11:56Speaker 1: team in Golden State played really great defense, and I
- 12:00Speaker 1: think that was a very good experience. But you know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: once you lose Curry, it's you know, it's tough to
- 12:09Speaker 1: duplicate that. Now, Kaminga was acting like he was putting
- 12:14Speaker 1: up Curry numbers at times, maybe not three, but just
- 12:18Speaker 1: in general then seemed like he couldn't miss a damn shot.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But you know, the big flip in these last two
- 12:27Speaker 1: series has been crunch time, right, putch the up up
- 12:36Speaker 1: or down by five five minutes remaining what were we
- 12:39Speaker 1: like twenty two and twenty six or some just horrible record.
- 12:45Speaker 1: We were garbage in it. And we've turned that around,
- 12:48Speaker 1: which is pretty damn impressive, and we needed to do that.
- 12:52Speaker 1: In that Game three, you know, Green had picked up
- 12:56Speaker 1: a fifth foul and it was a tight, tight game,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and they had like somewhere in the fourth quarter they
- 13:04Speaker 1: had like thirty bench points, and I mean they Golden State.
- 13:09Speaker 1: But it was it was tight. It was very tight.
- 13:12Speaker 1: With four fifty six left, it was eighty four or
- 13:15Speaker 1: eighty seven, eighty four or something like that. It was
- 13:17Speaker 1: a very tight game. And you know, Rudy was hitting
- 13:22Speaker 1: his free throws. That's something that he kind of turned around.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He had a bad stretch early in the season of
- 13:29Speaker 1: it with his free throws, but then he did tighten
- 13:31Speaker 1: up when it came to that. But yeah, eighty seven,
- 13:34Speaker 1: eighty four, three fifty eight to go. Jaden hits a
- 13:36Speaker 1: three very late in the shot clock. Rudy did get
- 13:40Speaker 1: a charge to get his fifth fall, but Randall passed
- 13:44Speaker 1: the Rudy for an N one dunk. Of course, you
- 13:49Speaker 1: know healed came right back and it hit a three.
- 13:53Speaker 1: But you know, Randall drove, he had a nice drive.
- 13:59Speaker 1: He also hit a three. He was up to a
- 14:01Speaker 1: triple double at that point. Ant went off in the
- 14:05Speaker 1: second half. In fact, he really started to Game three.
- 14:08Speaker 1: In Game four, he went off in the second halfs
- 14:12Speaker 1: whereas you know, not so good when it came to points. Anyway,
- 14:17Speaker 1: in the early going game four Nas had some foul issues.
- 14:23Speaker 1: They were getting a ton of offensive rebounds. I think
- 14:26Speaker 1: in the first half they had nine offensive rebounds, and
- 14:30Speaker 1: and once again Tim Roves are having some some issues
- 14:35Speaker 1: with his zone. It seemed like Randall showed up and
- 14:41Speaker 1: started getting it go in the second I think he
- 14:43Speaker 1: had fourteen and a half in that game. But it
- 14:49Speaker 1: was it was a tight game. It was a very
- 14:52Speaker 1: tight game for quite some time, and then it kind
- 14:56Speaker 1: of like late third they blew it open a little
- 14:59Speaker 1: bit and what nuts, you know, at the five thirty mark,
- 15:03Speaker 1: he had fourteen points. In the fourth it was eighty
- 15:05Speaker 1: to sixty eight. The rebounding and the defense in the
- 15:09Speaker 1: second half from Jayden didn't he have Like he had
- 15:12Speaker 1: like one or two I think it was one rebound
- 15:16Speaker 1: in the first half, and then he ended up with
- 15:17Speaker 1: a bunch of them and they were hitting their threes.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Aunt did get in a little bit of foul problems.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He actually picked up his fifth foul fairly early in
- 15:26Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. But we had I think it was
- 15:30Speaker 1: like a nineteen to two run something like that, and
- 15:32Speaker 1: really blew open that that game for ninety seven to
- 15:36Speaker 1: seventy seven. And of course we had early turnovers, right,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Like I said, Aunt picked up some foul, his fifth foul,
- 15:47Speaker 1: but then so early turnovers. But then they controlled the
- 15:52Speaker 1: court like it was like, all right, some turnovers, but
- 15:55Speaker 1: we got it. But then the bench for Golden State
- 15:58Speaker 1: made a run. And I gotta admit, like that that
- 16:03Speaker 1: last few minutes, I never felt like they were gonna
- 16:07Speaker 1: win it per se, but it was getting shaky. And
- 16:10Speaker 1: for that to be one seventeen to one it did
- 16:13Speaker 1: it is very misleading, let's put it that way. But
- 16:16Speaker 1: they they got the job done. Alton, right, that was
- 16:20Speaker 1: the big thing. The closed out game Punky with turnovers.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Randall was like, hey, I got it. I'll turn it
- 16:29Speaker 1: over early and even know and then he tightened up
- 16:34Speaker 1: and then Aunt and I would say, Nas, those two
- 16:38Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter were just like turn the ball over,
- 16:43Speaker 1: especially Nas just throwing silly stuff. But I think although
- 16:46Speaker 1: he had twelve assists, not trying to take away anything
- 16:51Speaker 1: from from Ant there, but I believe let me double check, Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 1: seven turnovers, So that's still a lot of turnovers, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: if you're asking me so, which you are asking me,
- 17:06Speaker 1: because I'm just saying it, I guess, but anyway, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: Rudy was definitely active early again another closeout game where
- 17:13Speaker 1: he was very active and you could tell Amazon his
- 17:17Speaker 1: assist game, and Dante was hitting threes and we had
- 17:20Speaker 1: a thirty to twenty three lead at half or at
- 17:24Speaker 1: the end of the quarter. First quarter, Dante had like
- 17:27Speaker 1: a nasty two handed dunk and it was thirty eight
- 17:30Speaker 1: to twenty nine very early in the second, and then
- 17:33Speaker 1: some sloppy play, you know, some sloppy play came into it.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Kind of back and forth though, because Rudy, like I said,
- 17:41Speaker 1: he was five of five ten points, Randall had fifteen
- 17:44Speaker 1: points on six and nine shooting. They closed like with
- 17:49Speaker 1: a seventeen to five run or something, so they were
- 17:51Speaker 1: up sixty two to forty seven. Randall had a nice
- 17:54Speaker 1: end one to close. Conley was going crazy. He had
- 17:58Speaker 1: eight points three or four. Then he hit another three,
- 18:03Speaker 1: forcing Golden State to you know, take a time out.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So it felt really good at half, and you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: I'm looking at the thing, I almost almost started talking shit.
- 18:18Speaker 1: So twenty assist in the first half. The ball was moving,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and when the ball moves, obviously we know good things
- 18:25Speaker 1: to happen, and especially for Ant, but both and in Random.
- 18:31Speaker 1: But when the ball moves early, it can come back
- 18:34Speaker 1: to Ant or Random, but especially Ant, and he can
- 18:39Speaker 1: get more catching shoots and he get just it's just better.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It's just better overall. As we know now, if you're
- 18:45Speaker 1: on a heater, that's different, right, But sometimes Ant we'll
- 18:51Speaker 1: just heat check, just the heat check, and it's like, hey, buddy,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you're oh of eight from three. You don't need the
- 18:56Speaker 1: heat check. We're in the playoffs. But you know, we
- 19:01Speaker 1: started out pretty damn well. More Rudy dunks, Randall was
- 19:06Speaker 1: really going off. It was eighty four to sixty eight.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Late in that third quarter, Ant was up to nine
- 19:12Speaker 1: assist Randall on nine of twelve from the field, twenty
- 19:17Speaker 1: one points, and we really blew it up ninety three
- 19:21Speaker 1: to seventy two to close that quarter. Now it did
- 19:27Speaker 1: Golden State. You know, they started grinding. We had some
- 19:31Speaker 1: early just stilly turnovers and Nas. I think in this
- 19:34Speaker 1: one too, where you're like dude and Aunt where you're
- 19:39Speaker 1: just wonder, what in the fuck are you doing? You know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: they got it to like nine, then Aunt hit three
- 19:45Speaker 1: and I think Jaden had a steal in that dunk.
- 19:49Speaker 1: If I remember correctly, but I thought, well, they didn't
- 19:54Speaker 1: lose their shit completely, right, so that was a positive.
- 19:57Speaker 1: But also Randall, he had eight points in that fourth quarter,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and it felt like most of them were like very needed,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you know, like it was like it came at a
- 20:05Speaker 1: great time, you know. And so we closed out the series,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and like I said, who knows what would have happened
- 20:15Speaker 1: win or lose the series with Curry. And there were
- 20:21Speaker 1: times where, you know, the term played with your food.
- 20:24Speaker 1: We did play with our food at times, and I
- 20:27Speaker 1: don't know if we would have played with the food
- 20:29Speaker 1: is long at times if Curry was in the game,
- 20:33Speaker 1: because we just would have been sharper. But that said,
- 20:36Speaker 1: we didn't come out you know, the first game. It's
- 20:40Speaker 1: not about sharp, right, it's about like it's not that
- 20:45Speaker 1: they didn't play hard, but like it just seemed like
- 20:48Speaker 1: they weren't ready to match the intensity. And I remember
- 20:53Speaker 1: saying this on the NBA Playoff Banter podcast, which by
- 20:57Speaker 1: the way, will be tomorrow night. I remember saying that,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you know, like these heading into this second round, that
- 21:06Speaker 1: the teams that are off six and seven games ultimately
- 21:11Speaker 1: it'll probably affect them in the series. But in the
- 21:15Speaker 1: short term meaning game one. It's kind of like you're hot.
- 21:19Speaker 1: And if someone if someone like the terms are out
- 21:21Speaker 1: for five, six games or days, I should say, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 1: there could be a little issue. And I and I
- 21:28Speaker 1: use the example of the playing uh or not the play, well,
- 21:33Speaker 1: the playing a little bit actually you do see that,
- 21:35Speaker 1: but the the play for the NCAA tournament, right, and
- 21:41Speaker 1: how we've seen like an eleven seed go really far,
- 21:45Speaker 1: but it's like you just played, you just played, boom,
- 21:48Speaker 1: You're in. You know. It's so there is something to
- 21:49Speaker 1: be said about that. But ultimately I think going seven
- 21:53Speaker 1: or seven games will help them. You know, there's just
- 21:58Speaker 1: no I don't care if they're younger not. It's all
- 22:01Speaker 1: about your legs. And and and even said that after
- 22:04Speaker 1: that seven game series of Denver and he went to
- 22:07Speaker 1: go the next day, he was like, you know, they're
- 22:11Speaker 1: having a little practice and he said his legs were gone.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So he's like, well, this is this isn't probably gonna
- 22:16Speaker 1: go so well, you know, and like I said, was
- 22:21Speaker 1: very strong for scoring, especially in games thre in game four,
- 22:27Speaker 1: kind of up and down on defense though, either really
- 22:31Speaker 1: all the way into it or not so much. And
- 22:35Speaker 1: that kind of that kind of was him in those
- 22:39Speaker 1: games A couple of those games, and I remember maybe
- 22:43Speaker 1: it was, I can't remember. I was game four, Game
- 22:46Speaker 1: three where Finch, you know, chewed him out saying, dude,
- 22:49Speaker 1: what's going on? Like the first half you guys are
- 22:52Speaker 1: just giving up. There was some bad bad defensive plays obviously,
- 22:57Speaker 1: or just lacking not necessarily defensive plays, but just you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: just lack of defense, lack of Hey, dude, that's your
- 23:03Speaker 1: guy out backdoor, you know, like picking somebody up. And
- 23:08Speaker 1: you know, when we one of the keys is gonna
- 23:11Speaker 1: be shooting right, we're a better shooting team than them,
- 23:14Speaker 1: especially from the outside, right from three like ya a
- 23:18Speaker 1: fair amount by a country mile, like they would say
- 23:22Speaker 1: in the UK. And but we got to knock him down.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And when we don't knock him down, then you're on
- 23:29Speaker 1: a three on three or you're you're either way, no
- 23:32Speaker 1: matter if you have numbers or not, you're not set.
- 23:35Speaker 1: And so you have to pick people up. And that
- 23:37Speaker 1: is that could be an issue for us, and that
- 23:40Speaker 1: is something that we're gonna have to watch out for it.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But overall, though Aunt was pretty damn solid. Julius Random though,
- 23:47Speaker 1: for me, was the MVP on both sides of the ball,
- 23:51Speaker 1: playing that point forward, timely buckets, timely passes, the way
- 23:56Speaker 1: he uh the way he drew the attention and then
- 23:59Speaker 1: kicked it out. And that is the one thing about
- 24:03Speaker 1: you know about Randall at the four compared to Cat,
- 24:09Speaker 1: He's quicker footed. He's just a better four. It's just
- 24:14Speaker 1: in general, offensively and defensively. You know, we Cat was
- 24:20Speaker 1: up there this year when it came to like end ones,
- 24:24Speaker 1: not even just centers, like he was the year before
- 24:27Speaker 1: Rudy came here where he led the league and end
- 24:29Speaker 1: ones for centers, he was one of the top end
- 24:33Speaker 1: ones uh N one getters, if that makes sense, in
- 24:38Speaker 1: the league. So he's a My point is he's much
- 24:41Speaker 1: quicker off the dribble when a center's playing him right
- 24:45Speaker 1: as we know, and he's just not as good as
- 24:49Speaker 1: power for it. He's just not. And and also you
- 24:52Speaker 1: know Rudy's in the damn lane, so like he just
- 24:56Speaker 1: Randall's just a better power forward in a variety of ways.
- 24:59Speaker 1: But also now when it comes to passing, he fits
- 25:04Speaker 1: our system better for passing, you know, whether you're backing
- 25:08Speaker 1: somebody down, whether you're off the dribble, and the defense
- 25:12Speaker 1: collapse to kick it out to a three and they're
- 25:14Speaker 1: wide open. And it's been working really well. Right, It's
- 25:18Speaker 1: really good at drawing it, and he doesn't draw as
- 25:21Speaker 1: many offensive falls. He doesn't fall as much over all
- 25:24Speaker 1: this cat as we've even seen it when he's having
- 25:27Speaker 1: great games. Sometimes a thirty five point game in the
- 25:31Speaker 1: playoffs could have been his if he just would have
- 25:33Speaker 1: been healthy. I think you could say that in at
- 25:35Speaker 1: least one, if not two of these games that he
- 25:37Speaker 1: just played, you know, in the Boston series. So he's
- 25:44Speaker 1: been phenomenal and like I said, on both sides of
- 25:47Speaker 1: the ball. And he just like I said, he does
- 25:51Speaker 1: it when he he offensive rebounds really well and he
- 25:55Speaker 1: gets followed a lot in that spot. So he's just
- 25:58Speaker 1: he's kind of not kind of he's put it all
- 26:00Speaker 1: together Randall for us on both sides of the BAM.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Like I said, I think he was the MVP of
- 26:05Speaker 1: this series. I really do. So he was phenomenal. Right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I thought McDaniels was very sturdy, right, rebound, strong, two
- 26:18Speaker 1: way play, still scoring, you know, Ever since we needed
- 26:23Speaker 1: more out of him once Dante and then eventually Randall
- 26:27Speaker 1: went out, and then even when Randall and Rudy were
- 26:30Speaker 1: out when we had him at the four. Actually, it's
- 26:33Speaker 1: kind of interesting because we had two games where Nas
- 26:37Speaker 1: was the five and Rudy or sorry, McDaniels was the
- 26:40Speaker 1: four against ok see, so that will be a feature
- 26:45Speaker 1: that we can definite. We know we can go small,
- 26:47Speaker 1: but we proved it on the court against them that
- 26:50Speaker 1: we can go small. So I did think McDaniels was
- 26:55Speaker 1: just steady, real steady eddie instead of like you know,
- 27:00Speaker 1: him randomly hitting four or five threes like we've seen him.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I think he had a game where he hit like
- 27:06Speaker 1: six and nine or something last year where he'll get
- 27:10Speaker 1: hot from three, but it just won't happen that much obviously.
- 27:14Speaker 1: But the cool thing is, even you know, when we
- 27:17Speaker 1: needed him more to be offensive, he really answered that
- 27:22Speaker 1: bell and he did it not just cutting to the
- 27:24Speaker 1: basket or corner threes, but he did it in his
- 27:26Speaker 1: own mid range way. And it's really about either straight off,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you know, straight up dribble driving and getting to the hoop,
- 27:34Speaker 1: or just dribbling in enough to where you're within like
- 27:39Speaker 1: eight feet and just raise up because no one really
- 27:43Speaker 1: can shot block you straight up. Not a many anyway,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and then we've been playing these small excuse me, we've
- 27:51Speaker 1: been we've been running the centers off the court in
- 27:55Speaker 1: these first two series. That's something you can say about
- 27:58Speaker 1: Rudy and he has said it. McDaniel's saying, hey man,
- 28:03Speaker 1: when they took that dude off, I was the tallest
- 28:05Speaker 1: dude on the court, you know, And that's true. So
- 28:07Speaker 1: his mid range game, he's really leaned into it. And
- 28:13Speaker 1: I wanted to see as Dante came back from more
- 28:17Speaker 1: scoring and of course as Randall came back and get
- 28:20Speaker 1: our starting lineup back and everything, you know, the full
- 28:24Speaker 1: strength was he going to be able to keep that up?
- 28:27Speaker 1: And he did. And it's not like a great thing
- 28:32Speaker 1: that he wasn't shooting. He wasn't hitting threes at that time,
- 28:36Speaker 1: but it didn't matter. In fact, it's better in a
- 28:41Speaker 1: sense that it wasn't just some kind of oh I
- 28:43Speaker 1: got hot for a couple of games, but it wasn't
- 28:46Speaker 1: really wasn't real right, wasn't something he could depend on.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Whereas he still if you look at you know, parts
- 28:53Speaker 1: of January and February or whatever, like his three point
- 28:56Speaker 1: shot didn't all of a sudden start falling right. But
- 28:59Speaker 1: he still scored like and I want to say, was
- 29:05Speaker 1: it February or January, I can't remember now, but he
- 29:08Speaker 1: he scored like eighteen points a game. You know, so
- 29:11Speaker 1: he was really really sturdy, and magically he has somehow
- 29:17Speaker 1: not falled as much. I mean the previous years we
- 29:22Speaker 1: had the like top five, top six, two guys McDaniels
- 29:26Speaker 1: and kat in the top five or top six of fouling.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I mean, when you're a great defensive team, you're gonna
- 29:35Speaker 1: follow more. It just happens. But like it was as
- 29:39Speaker 1: excess Rudy. You know, he was steadied defensively. He got
- 29:45Speaker 1: better at the free throw line as the series went on,
- 29:49Speaker 1: and when he was in there his on and off
- 29:52Speaker 1: defensive you know, analytics and some of these matchups that
- 29:56Speaker 1: always gonna get cooked and all that, he wasn't really
- 29:58Speaker 1: getting cooked. You know, he really wasn't. And he didn't
- 30:03Speaker 1: go twenty you know, seven and twenty four or something
- 30:07Speaker 1: like that, but he did have a very good closing
- 30:10Speaker 1: game and he had these little spurts where he was
- 30:13Speaker 1: making him pay, and you know it'd be interesting to see.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Obviously they're not going to approach, you know, like they're
- 30:25Speaker 1: not going to approach putting little guys on Rudy all
- 30:29Speaker 1: the time like they just did with Jokic. We saw that,
- 30:32Speaker 1: you know, this last part of the series, Caruso was
- 30:37Speaker 1: on him. It's a whole different beast with the Yolkicic obviously,
- 30:41Speaker 1: but it will be interesting to see, you know, how
- 30:47Speaker 1: big of a role Rudy can play because they do
- 30:50Speaker 1: have two bigs now, you know, they do have two
- 30:52Speaker 1: legit bigs, Conley and Dante. Are they turning the core them?
- 31:01Speaker 1: You know, I would lend itself to Conley maybe doing
- 31:06Speaker 1: what he can do. Obviously, coming off what sixteen points,
- 31:09Speaker 1: eight assist or whatever, he was hitting it. He was
- 31:12Speaker 1: hitting some clutch shots right when we needed it. But
- 31:16Speaker 1: Dante got it going. And even though him and Alexander
- 31:19Speaker 1: Walker hit their threes are way off, Dante's still been
- 31:23Speaker 1: able to get like four or five assists here and there,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, Like he still has
- 31:28Speaker 1: been pretty solid even though he is shooting just god awful.
- 31:33Speaker 1: He did have thirteen points in this close out game,
- 31:35Speaker 1: four steels, six assists, only took seven shots too, So
- 31:42Speaker 1: are they turning the corner? Like I said, Conley's much
- 31:46Speaker 1: healthier than he was going in the conference final this year.
- 31:51Speaker 1: But he's only gonna give you so much, right, He's
- 31:56Speaker 1: clearly been past his prime for a while. But Dante
- 32:02Speaker 1: needs the needs to be better offensively, especially just shooting
- 32:06Speaker 1: the three, I mean, and he is very capable, you know,
- 32:10Speaker 1: he's very capable of it, and so I expect him
- 32:13Speaker 1: to to turn that corner Alexander Walker. Don't get me wrong,
- 32:23Speaker 1: I'd say nas in nah, I think you know Dante
- 32:27Speaker 1: in there too. It's just been inconsistent. He had that
- 32:31Speaker 1: twenty point game and then he had an al right game,
- 32:34Speaker 1: but he also had two games in a five game
- 32:36Speaker 1: series where he didn't get a point. Nas defense and
- 32:40Speaker 1: turnovers has been funky, but he still will hit like
- 32:45Speaker 1: buckets when we need it. Not necessarily, oh the fourth
- 32:48Speaker 1: quarter clutch and all that, but just in general, because
- 32:51Speaker 1: you know, I mean those those late late in the quarter,
- 32:55Speaker 1: early in the second or fourth quarter, those are really key.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And he has been in the lineup for some that
- 33:00Speaker 1: and you know, we've seen more than one time Must
- 33:04Speaker 1: make a run without Ant in the game, and we
- 33:07Speaker 1: actually saw that down the stretch of the season too.
- 33:11Speaker 1: So Alexander Walker needs to play better in nas, like
- 33:19Speaker 1: I said, sometimes defensively, it's kind of like scratching my head.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And a lot of folks are talking about and I've
- 33:26Speaker 1: talked about it too, about maybe the future is Randal
- 33:30Speaker 1: and NOAs together. Obviously that'd be trading Rudy and you'd
- 33:34Speaker 1: have to get like a solid rim protector rebounder in there,
- 33:41Speaker 1: just a solid one. Nothing that you'd have to start,
- 33:43Speaker 1: but you'd have to have one in there because neither
- 33:45Speaker 1: of those guys are protecting the rim on, you know,
- 33:48Speaker 1: like on a consistent basis. But so both of those
- 33:52Speaker 1: guys are very capable of having a great series too,
- 33:57Speaker 1: but we you know, we just need need more of them,
- 34:01Speaker 1: need more out of it. And you know, kind of
- 34:06Speaker 1: just actually saw multiple people tweet this and they said,
- 34:10Speaker 1: we just have to be eight and six and we'd
- 34:15Speaker 1: win the championship. And when you hear that, you go, man, eight,
- 34:21Speaker 1: And I mean you could go, you know, you could obviously,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I don't know, that's just crazy. Now you could lose
- 34:29Speaker 1: your first you know, four out of five out of
- 34:31Speaker 1: the you know, and you're not even in there. But eight,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I don't know, it's like eight and six is like, man,
- 34:37Speaker 1: that is fucking doable. But literally everybody has that right
- 34:41Speaker 1: eight and six and you win the championship. But just
- 34:43Speaker 1: to hear it, you're like, damn, dude, that's that's not
- 34:47Speaker 1: that tough, you know, but that's just a silly way
- 34:50Speaker 1: to look at it, to be honest with you. You know,
- 34:54Speaker 1: Rudy just kind of lining up the series your preview
- 34:57Speaker 1: and predicting it Rudy will be needed. Obviously he hasn't
- 35:04Speaker 1: been as needed in these first two series because they've
- 35:08Speaker 1: been small balling the shit out of us. But once again,
- 35:16Speaker 1: it's never been about Rudy getting played out the Ford floor,
- 35:21Speaker 1: excuse me, defensively. It's always been him offensively getting played
- 35:25Speaker 1: off the floor. Really hasn't been defensively. And even when
- 35:30Speaker 1: you look at that five game series with Dallas last year,
- 35:36Speaker 1: those first three games and could have, would have, should have,
- 35:40Speaker 1: but they were all winnable. We could have been up
- 35:42Speaker 1: two to one or down one to two, not down
- 35:45Speaker 1: three zero. Then, like I said, could have, would have,
- 35:48Speaker 1: should It doesn't matter ultimately, but it wasn't that we want.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We weren't what we It wasn't defensively, it wasn't all
- 35:55Speaker 1: we couldn't stop Luca Lucas just gonna fucking get his dude.
- 36:00Speaker 1: But it was all about not executing on the offensive
- 36:05Speaker 1: side down the stretch of a game. That's actually what
- 36:08Speaker 1: it was about, because as we know, we had a
- 36:11Speaker 1: rule change that actually helped us in a game. You know,
- 36:15Speaker 1: in the playoffs that you know, Kyrie bumped McDaniels and
- 36:19Speaker 1: that there's a good chance that Luca play wouldn't even
- 36:22Speaker 1: look like that because they wouldn't have had the time
- 36:24Speaker 1: and it would have been different and blah blah blah.
- 36:27Speaker 1: But Rudy's going to be needed. If we can make
- 36:30Speaker 1: it back to this series, He's going to be needed again.
- 36:33Speaker 1: So that's something that will be interesting to see and
- 36:37Speaker 1: see if they can activate him intelligently right because the
- 36:45Speaker 1: first year he was here, and even at times the
- 36:48Speaker 1: last two years, the Timberwolves have either, you know, right away,
- 36:54Speaker 1: we pushed it too much, like you know, finding him
- 36:57Speaker 1: in the post way too many times and it just
- 37:00Speaker 1: look like shit. But there's also many times that he's
- 37:04Speaker 1: wide open for a dunk and we just don't see him.
- 37:07Speaker 1: It's not just an it's just not you know whatever,
- 37:10Speaker 1: It just but we miss them a lot for dunks
- 37:13Speaker 1: every every single game, and of course you're gonna miss
- 37:16Speaker 1: them from time to time, but literally multiple times a game.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I mean maybe maybe if someone at home wants to
- 37:24Speaker 1: keep track of it. It's a lot. It's actually a lot.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So it's finding that you know that in between you
- 37:31Speaker 1: don't want to feature him whatsoever. But if he's got
- 37:34Speaker 1: a little dude on him, you got to make them
- 37:37Speaker 1: pay and at least try to get in the ball
- 37:40Speaker 1: and don't do any kind of funky pass to him
- 37:42Speaker 1: or you know what I mean. And we'll see a
- 37:46Speaker 1: lot of times you can kind of tell, you know how,
- 37:49Speaker 1: where it's where his head's at, where he's at aggressively,
- 37:53Speaker 1: where he's at with holding on the goddamn ball. You know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: like you kind of know fairly early with him, like, oh,
- 38:00Speaker 1: this might be a rooty game, dude, you know so,
- 38:04Speaker 1: But Rudy's gonna need to be here and be active,
- 38:07Speaker 1: no doubt about it. Like I said, Nah and Dante,
- 38:13Speaker 1: we're gonna need those guys. We're gonna need those guys
- 38:16Speaker 1: on defense. Who's really gonna need those guys on defense
- 38:19Speaker 1: and just overall, but especially on defense. Nah, is the
- 38:22Speaker 1: hell of a defender, you know, s g a McDaniel's like,
- 38:29Speaker 1: we gotta we got a couple of guys that we're
- 38:31Speaker 1: gonna use on on s g A will be interesting
- 38:34Speaker 1: to see, you know who they put con Lee on.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Maybe it's a dort I don't know, we'll we'll see.
- 38:44Speaker 1: One of the biggest things, just the obvious thing if
- 38:47Speaker 1: you've ever even watched an Oklahoma City game, is turnovers, right, turnovers,
- 38:55Speaker 1: Like they do a great job of both forcing turnovers
- 38:59Speaker 1: and then manning turnovers on offense, and that's key. And
- 39:07Speaker 1: we were sloppy in this last series. Really we had
- 39:10Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of turnovers. And then when
- 39:16Speaker 1: we talk about turnovers or them limiting turnovers, you're getting
- 39:20Speaker 1: off the ball pretty early on our side of it, right,
- 39:24Speaker 1: moving the damn ball. But also it's been more physical
- 39:30Speaker 1: per usual as far as being more physical, allowing more
- 39:33Speaker 1: physicality in the playoffs. But this year it's even up
- 39:39Speaker 1: a notch. They have allowed it more, so you wonder,
- 39:44Speaker 1: you know, even though we had that crazy comeback and
- 39:46Speaker 1: we won it in overtime in that game against Okay see,
- 39:51Speaker 1: you know many of us remember Finch saying it, it's
- 39:54Speaker 1: basically fucking irritating to play this team. You know, and
- 39:58Speaker 1: we had the chant at Home Free. You throw a merchant,
- 40:01Speaker 1: you know, like Sga is good at fucking getting fouls.
- 40:05Speaker 1: He just is. And you know, there's there's a variety
- 40:12Speaker 1: of high level dudes that just get know how to
- 40:15Speaker 1: get fouls and whether they're flopping or not, they just
- 40:19Speaker 1: do and they are but they just they just know
- 40:23Speaker 1: how to do it. Dude. They're just or if you
- 40:26Speaker 1: have a you know, a fourth fall or a fifth
- 40:30Speaker 1: foul or you're one fall away from the bonus. You know,
- 40:34Speaker 1: they know if someone's gonna put their hand there, they're
- 40:36Speaker 1: just gonna they're just gonna rip through and get a
- 40:38Speaker 1: follow easy foul. You know. So it's being like on
- 40:44Speaker 1: focus on, plugged into this. But I will say this,
- 40:49Speaker 1: as we know with this team and especially Ant and
- 40:53Speaker 1: his decision making, we've really thrived with these days off.
- 41:00Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if they'll come out cold
- 41:03Speaker 1: as shit again, I don't know, I mean to be fair,
- 41:07Speaker 1: Like we didn't come out cold against the Lakers Memembory.
- 41:10Speaker 1: We hit with like twenty one threes, you know, so
- 41:15Speaker 1: game one so and some of that is will okay,
- 41:20Speaker 1: see you know, like switch a lot because they're very
- 41:25Speaker 1: confident in their defensive you know players in general, Will
- 41:29Speaker 1: they blitz or will it be more like you know
- 41:33Speaker 1: the old boxes and elbow right feel the like get ready,
- 41:37Speaker 1: So he can't just have a free you know, lane
- 41:40Speaker 1: can't have a free path to the to the who
- 41:43Speaker 1: and they do have some guys that can protect, which
- 41:46Speaker 1: we haven't had in these last two games or two series.
- 41:52Speaker 1: You know, I don't, I don't know. Or if they
- 41:54Speaker 1: go zone right, I mean, why wouldn't you mix in
- 41:58Speaker 1: some zone against our dumbasses at times? Right? I would?
- 42:02Speaker 1: So I think the boxes and elbows where they're really
- 42:05Speaker 1: protecting shit saying you know, we're going to cheat this way,
- 42:09Speaker 1: so you can't just come in mixing the zone. But
- 42:13Speaker 1: also in switching, I think they'll switch a lot. I
- 42:16Speaker 1: think the most common thing they'll do is boxes and
- 42:19Speaker 1: elbows or just switch a lot. It just be confident
- 42:23Speaker 1: that they're a hell of a defensive team. Now, I'm
- 42:25Speaker 1: not saying they'll never blitz him, and because I think
- 42:29Speaker 1: they will, but he we did see an improvement, you
- 42:33Speaker 1: know with that pass through the double and it usually
- 42:39Speaker 1: right right around the elbow, right around the nail free
- 42:43Speaker 1: throw area, right, it was it was the passes like
- 42:47Speaker 1: right there and then it in a lot of times
- 42:49Speaker 1: it's Alexander Walker or somebody else, and they were able to,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you know, keep the ball moving. So I did notice
- 42:55Speaker 1: on the flip side, Denver having success in the zone.
- 43:00Speaker 1: See Mike Conley would probably appreciate some zone. And we've
- 43:06Speaker 1: always we've not always, but we've had a hybrid of
- 43:09Speaker 1: like drop, like Rudy's in drop and everybody else is
- 43:13Speaker 1: like in high wall, you know, like very aggressive. So
- 43:16Speaker 1: we we are very that's the one thing. We're very
- 43:20Speaker 1: We're versatile now on offense and defense, which is something
- 43:25Speaker 1: that you can, you know, you could say we we
- 43:27Speaker 1: haven't been and even the year before Rudy we were
- 43:30Speaker 1: up there. And defense, we're a pretty solid defensive team.
- 43:32Speaker 1: But the style of the high wall and just going
- 43:36Speaker 1: crazy with Vando and everybody running around speaking of boxes
- 43:41Speaker 1: and elbows like but that wasn't sustainable to do for
- 43:45Speaker 1: a whole season or a whole series because it just
- 43:48Speaker 1: wears you the fuck out. So but they're a damn
- 43:52Speaker 1: good off a defensive team. Are they as good as
- 43:55Speaker 1: we were last year? I don't think so. But analytically
- 43:59Speaker 1: they're like the best thing ever. You know, that's what
- 44:02Speaker 1: the computers say. And then you know with Rudy, you know,
- 44:08Speaker 1: will they go small on Rudy to try to hide
- 44:11Speaker 1: somebody or you know, we're on Randall too. You know,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I wonder, I wonder exactly what's gonna happen. There a
- 44:22Speaker 1: lot of people I've heard talking about this throughout the week,
- 44:26Speaker 1: thinking that especially when it's three to two, but just
- 44:30Speaker 1: kind of thinking that, okay, see would win either way.
- 44:33Speaker 1: You know a lot of them talked about Williams will
- 44:35Speaker 1: beyond them, a lot of them. You know, I've heard
- 44:37Speaker 1: a variety. The Randall thing is kind of interesting. I
- 44:40Speaker 1: will say that who is going to guard Randall? I think,
- 44:50Speaker 1: you know, my guess is that it will be Williams.
- 44:55Speaker 1: That's that's who I'm guessing. But I don't know, you know,
- 45:00Speaker 1: And then who's whose ant getna guard? Is he gonna guard? Uh?
- 45:07Speaker 1: You know, maybe you know, is he gonna guard Williams
- 45:10Speaker 1: in the starting lineup? Or would they put him on
- 45:15Speaker 1: like I don't know, someone ran him like like home
- 45:19Speaker 1: Grin or or Dort or you know, that's the thing
- 45:22Speaker 1: they like us with McDaniels, they do have Dort and
- 45:29Speaker 1: so it is nice to be able to have a
- 45:31Speaker 1: guy like dort In, to have a guy like Cruso
- 45:33Speaker 1: to to just be like, you're taking on an ant dude,
- 45:37Speaker 1: that's your job this series. So yeah, it'll be the
- 45:41Speaker 1: matchups will be very interesting to see. I will say this,
- 45:49Speaker 1: Heartenstein has actually played pretty decent against Rudy kind of
- 45:54Speaker 1: going through the games. And it's regular season, right, it's
- 45:58Speaker 1: regular season. We know if any team knows, we know
- 46:03Speaker 1: right that that shit ultimately doesn't matter. I mean, remember
- 46:10Speaker 1: Phoenix just kicked our ass like throughout the year. But
- 46:14Speaker 1: then the last was it the last game of the
- 46:15Speaker 1: season where they just whooped us and then we got
- 46:18Speaker 1: five days off and we're like, all right, cool, we're
- 46:20Speaker 1: gonna sweep you. You know. So the game won. I
- 46:25Speaker 1: think it was right around New Year's okay, see one
- 46:28Speaker 1: one thirteen, one oh five. The Wolves had count them
- 46:32Speaker 1: twenty three turnovers. NA had five Randall and NAS had four.
- 46:38Speaker 1: NAS had a great game up the bench, nineteen points,
- 46:41Speaker 1: but twenty three turnovers. Honestly, you're you're gonna turn the
- 46:47Speaker 1: ball over obviously, but if we're if we can keep
- 46:52Speaker 1: it like below say fourteen or something like that, now,
- 46:57Speaker 1: but we could win a game and you know, have
- 47:00Speaker 1: eighteen of them. But like, as long as we don't
- 47:03Speaker 1: get into that, seventeen eighteen, maybe anywhere from like sixteen
- 47:07Speaker 1: to twenty seventeen to twenty two seventeen sounds like a lot. Yeah,
- 47:11Speaker 1: it is, especially if the team's not turning the ball
- 47:15Speaker 1: over like they tend not to do. But we just
- 47:21Speaker 1: we have to figure that shit out. And this is
- 47:25Speaker 1: where it's a big challenge, you know, for the offensive
- 47:32Speaker 1: as a whole, but especially for and and especially for Randam.
- 47:37Speaker 1: And I would throw in mister we don't, you know,
- 47:42Speaker 1: call a play, mister Finch, because if shit's not going
- 47:47Speaker 1: their way, then we got to tighten up and we
- 47:50Speaker 1: gotta be more we got we gotta be more organized,
- 47:54Speaker 1: however that may be. And literally I just saw a
- 48:00Speaker 1: little you know, they're doing a bunch of interviews, like
- 48:02Speaker 1: press conference stuff with all the players and the coach
- 48:05Speaker 1: and and it's like, well, as long as you play
- 48:08Speaker 1: hard defense, he'll let you do whatever you want on offense.
- 48:11Speaker 1: That's what he said about Finch, And it's fucking true.
- 48:13Speaker 1: And I've always said he gives his players. These players,
- 48:17Speaker 1: not Chris Paul or you know, someone that can like
- 48:22Speaker 1: a maestro of basketball Lebron and Luca and you know,
- 48:29Speaker 1: not those guys. He gives guys that You're like, hey, dude,
- 48:33Speaker 1: what you got a leasha on that thing? Dude, you
- 48:35Speaker 1: need to fucking pull pull that thing in. So, yeah, dude,
- 48:41Speaker 1: if we keep turning the damn ball over, we need
- 48:43Speaker 1: to be more organized, we need to play call, we
- 48:44Speaker 1: need to do something. And so let you know that's
- 48:48Speaker 1: gonna be something. They're Game two one, sixteen to one
- 48:52Speaker 1: oh one. And by the way, getting into point differential,
- 48:56Speaker 1: it was two to two, but point different A lot
- 49:01Speaker 1: of analytics around that stat. You know, I think we
- 49:08Speaker 1: had the series by three. So there you go. We're
- 49:10Speaker 1: gonna win the series because we have a point differential
- 49:12Speaker 1: of three. But in that game, first of all, no Rooty,
- 49:17Speaker 1: no Random, no Dante. Okay, so you had Nas at
- 49:21Speaker 1: the center, McDaniels at the four lot. Jalen Williams played
- 49:27Speaker 1: really well, twenty points eight to seventeen. Okay, see was
- 49:32Speaker 1: seven of twenty nine from three, and we held SGA
- 49:37Speaker 1: to six of twenty one from the field. He did
- 49:40Speaker 1: if you can believe it, he got to the free
- 49:42Speaker 1: throw line. He was eleven of eleven from the free
- 49:44Speaker 1: throw line. Now and on the flip side, we won
- 49:47Speaker 1: the game by fifteen, but he was three or twelve
- 49:49Speaker 1: from three. He did get to the free throw line
- 49:52Speaker 1: ten of eleven, but he was five of eighteen overall,
- 49:54Speaker 1: Like I said, three thirteen or three of twelve from three,
- 49:58Speaker 1: So they didn't should the ball well from three. They're
- 50:01Speaker 1: not great three point shooters on average. I say that,
- 50:06Speaker 1: but they have a game where they hit like eighteen
- 50:08Speaker 1: against us, but actually so game three. So it's one one,
- 50:14Speaker 1: game three, Oklahoma wins. The Oklahoma City wins that one
- 50:18Speaker 1: thirty one twenty three. The Timberwolves did have eighteen threes
- 50:25Speaker 1: in that game. I still think there was no uh,
- 50:34Speaker 1: still think there was no Rudy and uh and Randall
- 50:38Speaker 1: in this one. Nasen and Jaden shined. Those two shined
- 50:42Speaker 1: in this season series. And I think actually, speaking of zone,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure they got in the zone in the
- 50:53Speaker 1: fourth quarter in that game, because remember that was like
- 50:57Speaker 1: the crazy comeback. I think was twenty four points in
- 51:01Speaker 1: the fourth quarter, twenty five overall. We had been down
- 51:04Speaker 1: in the second quarter of the game four. Oh wait,
- 51:08Speaker 1: hold on, I totally just skip games DENI SGA in
- 51:12Speaker 1: the in the game they won, he was thirteen to
- 51:15Speaker 1: twenty four. I'm talking about Game three, he was thirteen
- 51:19Speaker 1: to twenty four to thirty seven points. He did turn
- 51:21Speaker 1: the ball over five times. They shot fifty nine percent.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And here here's what I was talking about. Nineteen threes
- 51:29Speaker 1: they hit in this game, nineteen and thirty five. Now
- 51:31Speaker 1: we hit eighteen, but and had five turnovers. And maybe
- 51:36Speaker 1: that was the game that they actually win zone on us.
- 51:39Speaker 1: But I believe we went zone in the fourth quarter.
- 51:42Speaker 1: That helped spark that. I think I wrote that down
- 51:46Speaker 1: in some notes there. Yes, that crazy comeback. And this
- 51:50Speaker 1: is game four of the season series. Second quarter thirty
- 51:54Speaker 1: two to seventeen, the thunder right fourth quarter forty one
- 51:58Speaker 1: to nineteen. They made it up all right. There only
- 52:04Speaker 1: thirteen turnovers. Like I said, it was that huge crazy comeback. Naw,
- 52:10Speaker 1: Shannon Dilly, I call Dilly, Rob Dillingham Dilly. They all
- 52:16Speaker 1: did really well, like I said, Nas and Jaden had
- 52:20Speaker 1: some really great games in this season series. So it's
- 52:25Speaker 1: two to two. You know, we we remember Game three
- 52:29Speaker 1: in Game four a lot because we either beat him
- 52:31Speaker 1: or we pushed them without a full squad, and you
- 52:40Speaker 1: know Jay, like I said, Jayden really becoming dependable as
- 52:47Speaker 1: just an overall player, but especially offensively dependable. Not getting
- 52:52Speaker 1: as many falls either, and there's gonna be some games
- 52:55Speaker 1: where he gets the fall problems NAS. And I'd say
- 52:59Speaker 1: NAS probably hasn't those balls. I don't know that for
- 53:02Speaker 1: a fact, but I bet you it's up there for
- 53:05Speaker 1: the playoffs anyway. But but Nas, he had that great
- 53:12Speaker 1: stretch and then he kind of you know, up and
- 53:15Speaker 1: down since then, and he had like that crazy game
- 53:22Speaker 1: was a game won against the Lakers. He actually had
- 53:26Speaker 1: a really good game win I think against Golden State too.
- 53:30Speaker 1: But he just has to tighten up overall. That that's
- 53:36Speaker 1: a big thing. He just has to tighten up overall,
- 53:38Speaker 1: and the team does as well. And I could sit
- 53:41Speaker 1: there and talk about this, talk about that. But when
- 53:45Speaker 1: push comes to shove, man, you know, be smart with
- 53:51Speaker 1: the turnovers, right, and you know, their biggest thing when
- 53:57Speaker 1: you talk about Oklahoma City, we've talked about the on
- 54:00Speaker 1: the NBA podcast that we do here under Ropodove Radio.
- 54:07Speaker 1: A lot of times it's been SGA and then who
- 54:09Speaker 1: the hell's gonna step up? And in the playoffs, you know,
- 54:14Speaker 1: Williams is averaging nineteen points, just a little down from
- 54:17Speaker 1: his season average. You know, he's shooting forty two percent
- 54:23Speaker 1: from the field, shooting twenty four from three. I think
- 54:28Speaker 1: Caruso is their hottest three point shooter, and maybe Wallace.
- 54:33Speaker 1: We're not that great at three point shooting right now either.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But so on the surface, when you look at well
- 54:42Speaker 1: Home gruns At, you know, averaging sixteen points, Hertenstein ten points,
- 54:49Speaker 1: like a cruse of nine door eight, like just but
- 54:53Speaker 1: does he have enough help? In my point, and in
- 54:55Speaker 1: this series with Jalen Williams, like you know, it's been
- 55:00Speaker 1: up and down, Like let's be honest, Like he had
- 55:02Speaker 1: a ten point game, he had a six point game,
- 55:05Speaker 1: he went off in that overtime game that they lost,
- 55:10Speaker 1: he had thirty two points, but then, like I said,
- 55:12Speaker 1: followed up with a ten point game. So and then
- 55:19Speaker 1: I gotta admit this kind of feels like so in
- 55:22Speaker 1: that last series he was sixteen, seventeen, thirty two, ten, eighteen,
- 55:26Speaker 1: six and twenty four right and from three it was
- 55:32Speaker 1: two to nine, three, three of seven, five, two of five,
- 55:36Speaker 1: four and two of five. Some of his shooting just
- 55:40Speaker 1: from the field eleven of twenty one pretty good, five
- 55:44Speaker 1: of twenty, five of fourteen, three of sixteen today, ten
- 55:48Speaker 1: of seventeen. So is he going like it sounds weird,
- 55:54Speaker 1: but Jalen Williams, who is kind of big, but he's
- 55:58Speaker 1: a little skinny. He's six I think he's like six
- 56:02Speaker 1: five six six four six five sixty six somewhere in there.
- 56:07Speaker 1: He's a little thin, but he is long. And you
- 56:11Speaker 1: wonder if they're going to go with him, you know,
- 56:17Speaker 1: on Randall, or they go with one of the bigs
- 56:20Speaker 1: on Randall. And this is gonna be key for both
- 56:25Speaker 1: At and Randall. Can they get off the ball? Can
- 56:29Speaker 1: they involve their teammates. Can they take advantage of matchups
- 56:34Speaker 1: when it's there? That's something Julius has done a phenomenal
- 56:38Speaker 1: job at and to be fair, and has done a
- 56:41Speaker 1: pretty damn good job of getting off the ball early
- 56:45Speaker 1: and Randall and others bringing the ball up and getting
- 56:48Speaker 1: the ball to him in different spots. So, I mean,
- 56:55Speaker 1: do they have enough help? Last year SGA, they had
- 57:02Speaker 1: some good performances but overall not enough. This year it
- 57:06Speaker 1: kind of felt like they weren't gonna have enough, but
- 57:09Speaker 1: they ultimately did. Now I gotta give credit to Denver
- 57:14Speaker 1: for playing excuse me, better defense. Pretty much everybody plays
- 57:17Speaker 1: better defense in the in the playoffs though, but they did.
- 57:22Speaker 1: They were a better defensive team. They found a way
- 57:28Speaker 1: to get some points off their bench. Westbrook, you know,
- 57:32Speaker 1: was either really good or like, what in the fuck
- 57:35Speaker 1: are you doing, dude? You know, it was one of those.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I think his his plus minus was like minus eighty
- 57:44Speaker 1: three or minus I can't remember the name. I can't
- 57:46Speaker 1: remember the number for the series, but it's bad. So
- 57:50Speaker 1: my point is they you know, I talk about how,
- 57:55Speaker 1: you know, Nah and Dante have to fucking wake up
- 57:58Speaker 1: from three, because they do. But we're a deeper team.
- 58:05Speaker 1: But how much deeper really? Though this time around it's
- 58:11Speaker 1: a it's obviously a lot tighter. We we haven't been
- 58:14Speaker 1: playing teams that were that deep. But when you can
- 58:17Speaker 1: bring Caruso and Wiggins and Wallace even that Joe dude,
- 58:24Speaker 1: obviously the other Williams like they are deep too, and
- 58:27Speaker 1: and Caruso is probably there, well, he is their best
- 58:30Speaker 1: bench player. And he's been you know, he's been in
- 58:34Speaker 1: a player, he's been in, he's been around, let's put
- 58:36Speaker 1: it that way. And for being off the bench, he
- 58:41Speaker 1: was in double figures the last four games. Some of
- 58:45Speaker 1: it's just timely, but a lot of signs when they
- 58:47Speaker 1: make it run. You'll see him on the court, you know,
- 58:52Speaker 1: and you know with dort Caros, Caruso, Carrosso in somebody
- 59:01Speaker 1: else that they'll throw at and you know, and just
- 59:05Speaker 1: gotta be baseent man, And you know I'm rambling. Let's
- 59:09Speaker 1: be honest. I'm fucking rambling now. I'm just gonna keep
- 59:11Speaker 1: going over the same old dumb shit I'm talking about.
- 59:16Speaker 1: It's prediction time. I get the Wolves in three, No
- 59:23Speaker 1: Wolves at eleven. I have the TIMBERWL. Okay, so I
- 59:30Speaker 1: still have. I haven't done the research, you know, Like
- 59:34Speaker 1: I said about that tweet about like the largest here,
- 59:40Speaker 1: actually let me pull it up real quick that we're
- 59:42Speaker 1: basically the biggest underdogs of all time. So this comes
- 59:46Speaker 1: from the daily Wolves. Don't quote me on this ship
- 59:49Speaker 1: the thunder of the highest favorite team in NBA Western
- 59:53Speaker 1: Conference Finals history going into their matchup versus the Wolves
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: highest favored team. Does that mean hold on the highest
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: favored team? You know how you read something and then
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you're like, wait a second, I read that wrong. The
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: highest favorite Okay, so they the history part got me
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: though I first read it saying, yeah, they are, they've
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: been the they have the best odds to win the championship.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: But this is saying in the history, so they have
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: the largest gap pass between two teams according to the
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Daily Wolves. Right, that's fucking crazy, dude. That's like, that's
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: downright disrespectful dude. Like I said earlier, we did get
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: a three point margin. Though I mentioned that, No, they
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: should be favorites. I'm not saying they shouldn't be favorites.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: They should now in clutch time, they haven't been as good. Now.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I'm not saying they haven't won tight games, because of
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: course they have. The Game six was really close until
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: it wasn't right. They won a game. They hit a
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: couple buckets down the stretch and were able to win
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Game five pretty cleanly, but it was a tight game.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: They lost an overtime game, they lost the first game.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: So they haven't been all that great in clutch either
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: or not. I shouldn't say either because we're four and
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: oh and clutch. So will that carry over? Are we?
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: You know, we're playing our the best defensive team in
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the league on paper, But there's just something about like
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: when we're disrespected. When we're the underdog, it really bodes
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: wealth for us. And you know, can we win game
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: one again? You know, like we have the Memphis series obviously,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: last year Denver series, we won the first two games
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: the Lakers series on the road to win the Western
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Conference Finals, and I guess become the biggest underdog to
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: ever win in the Western Conference Final. I don't think
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: that's true. We will have to win the first one
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: of the first two games. We're not the best at home,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: but we are getting better as we saw now. I
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: said that we lost game one at home with home court, right,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: So I think being the underdog, I would tell I
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: would show aunt that tweet every other hour and be like, dude,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: do you realize that we are the lowest rated team
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: against the highest rated you know what you know? Or
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: the the biggest underdog ever. That's what this fucking tweet says. Man,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: So get pissed off now, I'm rambling, like I said. Okay,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: So if I think it's it's closer to a fifty
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: to fifty, then I hear a lot of people saying
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: seventy thirty. I don't agree with seventy thirty. Sixty forty.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: You could sell me on I'm closer to like, you know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: like like fifty seven point five. No, I'm I'm closer.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's fifty to fifty, but I think
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: it's a lot closer to a fifty to fifty. I
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: would put a sixty forty in down maybe fifty five
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: forty five whatever, you know. I think that they're an
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: experienced team now, no doubt. But they you know, they
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: just got by a team that is not as deep
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: as us. That team was really banged up, especially, I
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: mean Porter Is. You can't totally lie on him anyway,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: but what you can do is get like some big
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: games out of him, maybe two of them where he'll
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: just go off right, he'll hit a bunch of threes,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: but then other times not as much. We do a
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: good job against But I think Gordon was such a
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: key and Gordon was hurt. You know, it wasn't much
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: of a game obviously today. But long story short, I'm
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: picking the Wolves. I'm picking the Wolves. What I was
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: trying to say is like it's very like cliche to
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: be like, dude, it's a tough It's gonna be a
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: tough series. Just seven games Bro. But if we were
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: to go to Game three one to one, then I
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: think there's a possibility of closing out Game six. But
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: this team, I'm gonna say Wolves in seven because of
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: this team, where we could be up three to two,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: you know, going into game six and we're like, yep, dude,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: here we go. We're going to the finals, and then
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: we just get beat, you know, like you mother efforts
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and then turn right around and play great. You know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: like we lost that first game to Golden State Boom
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: one four in a row. We saw that, like, you know,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: losing to the the B team of Indie and then
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: playing pretty good, right losing to Milwaukee Boom, turn right
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: around and beat a team in Memphis who was hot
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: at the time. So yeah, that's my story. I'm sticking
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: to it. Let's see Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the next time we're gonna
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: do a game or a show Monday. Let's see Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: So maybe I'll do it after game four. I don't know,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: it'll be next week for sure. I don't like to
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: do it on a on a you know, on a
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: day where they have a game. Obviously it's it's just
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: not it's not cool. It's not cool to do. So
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I'll be back maybe after like four games. I'm not
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: solely sure when I'll be back, but I will be back,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: damn it. Uh maybe Tuesday night, maybe Thursday. Not obviously
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: not this week, but next week. So within somewhere somewhere
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: in there, I'm gonna try to do a show. I
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: wouldn't doubt if it's not this Thursday, but next Thursday.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I don't know. As you can see, I'm very confused.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: So I'm gonna try to do a show. I'll do
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: another show before the end of the series, that for sure,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: but I'm just gonna try to fit one in. I
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: may have to do two shows next Tuesday, I don't know.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: But either way, enjoy the series and remember, as a fan, dude,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: we don't want the players doing this because that as
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: a fan, soak this up, you know, soak it up
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: like it feels great. Don't get too high and mighty,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: don't get too confident. Don't be underwhelming though. Don't be like,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: oh we're gonna lose bro, We're down one zip or
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: you know, we're down fifteen, you know, we're getting our ass.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Like this team does bounce back even when it I
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: mean even when they were winning three, losing three, winning three,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: losing three. You know, like this team does have a
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: lot of fight back. And it feels like they have
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: more you know, tools to fix the parts. You know,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: like they have more tools in the in the in
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: the in the the toolbox. That was bad anyway, I better.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: I think that's a sign that you needed to shut
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: it down. Wolves and seven. Just enjoy it though the
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: shit doesn't happen much. Enjoy it. I can't believe that
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: shouts out the Kat that he made the Conference final
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: two and shots out to the Knicks. Dude, they're they're
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: fun to watch about that Pacers team. Oh boy, I
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: really like these matchups. By the way, I think the
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: NBA would want the Knicks in Minnesota because we know
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: large markets, we know small markets. But people don't know
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: is there's mid markets TV market and google that NBA
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: TV market and you'll see that we may be perceived
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: as flyover country in like one of the smallest markets
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: in the entire country, but we are not. Look at Detroit,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: look at Miami, look at some teams that you think,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: huh wow, we have more TV homes than them. And
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: that's what it comes down to. NBA TV market. We're
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: a mid size market and AUNT these last two years
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: has gotten great ratings. Most of the games these last
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: two years has improved upon the previous slot from the
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: previous year. I'm not saying it's you know, New York
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: in LA or obviously Boston LA, because the rivalry and
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: speaking of rivalry, I mean New York in Indy go
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: back to the nineties, dude, that shit. Okay, I'm doing
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: a Minnesota Goodbye. My apologies for people that are listening
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: to this podcast outside of Minnesota. It's called a Minnesota Goodbye.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: So let's say you're in a restaurant right and you're talking.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Time you get up, you start talking talking talk, Or
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: if you're at someone's house, you're at the front door,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: you're talking, you're talking to the driveway, you start talking
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: about the house or the grass or some shit. And
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: then you're in the car and the shotgun windows rolled
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: down and you're talking and you're talking. And that's what
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I'm doing right now. I'm doing in Minnesota. Goobye. So
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I'm going to shut this thing down, have a great week.
