- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey, welcome to Trap Souls Podcast.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: We're here with another Beyond the Spirits with Chris Boggs, the mortician, the daily coffee conversations, they bring light into your day, I guess you want to say, make you think a little bit.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, absolutely.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: One reason we want to invite you on, plus mortician, paranormal.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: It's it's a lot.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, but one of the issues that I have is being able to do invest going and doing investigations places because people won't allow Skylar to become because of her age.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: So we we're very tapped in where we can go unless I I rent things out privately and stuff like that, which can get very expensive very quickly.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: 100%.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: One of the things that you know I find when we go on these public investigations is that you know, if you go in and there's a group of a bunch of guys and like, oh, we don't believe, you know what I mean?
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: We're just here because our girls are making us come and this, that, and the third.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: I mean, the energy the error and interaction we get matches what's being given.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: So if people go in there and they're cocky and arrogant, you know, you might get a little bit of that back, or they might just say, Screw you, I'm not here to talk to you because you guys are just you know buttheads, so nothing happens.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Or they're you know, I've seen it to where these guys are like, okay, we're done, we're out.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: This is for this is too much, we're scared, because they're like, get out of my house, they don't want you here, get out of my face.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: And then if it is something nefarious, uses whatever you're going through emotionally to be able to break you down to then be able to attach or do whatever it would want to do to you.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: I get very leery, and especially again when we're we're doing public, and it's not people that are true like other investigators, they're just there to try and have an experience or something.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: When they start doing the you know, the Gandalf the gray, like I'm not a cheap conjurer of cheap tricks, you know what I mean?
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Trying to provoke in things.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Man, I've been to places where there is absolutely no need to provoke, it's just gonna happen.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: And if you provoke, you don't know what type of can of worms you're gonna be opening, you know, especially like Pennhurst.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: When when we go there, you know, there's absolutely no need to provoke, but people try to provoke, and I mean you're not gonna like what you're gonna get.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: I've seen grown men cry there, you know, because again, it's not that it's something nefarious, but they just they're showing themselves that you you want me to show you, I'm gonna show you, but you better be ready for what you're asking for.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: And like, I mean, we we dealt with the run the one and everything, because I think now we're up to like 10 something investigations being there.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's in our our local uh backyard and everything with the base team now and everything, helping the owner and stuff.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: So, I mean it's not our first run and then everything, but I mean, there that that was the first time that like it's it hit me to my core.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: I'm like so.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: I mean, I only have two major events that really kind of struck me to my core and everything.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: And then uh we're going back to the other one, middle point, when I was using our new device as a direct link and stuff where it kind of uses your energy and stuff, and that's where I ended up with the three scratches on the back of my neck that and one of the scratches drew blood.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: And then after they've noticed when I felt the burning, I asked them come check the back of my neck, and they're like, dude, you guys scratched.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: I'm like, okay, who'd done that?
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: We hear audible females sitting there saying, It was me.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: Oh wow, stuff.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Chris, I had a question for you here.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Um kind of it's a big deal.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Have you ever gone into a place that something happened and just leave because it was that bad?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I kind of want to like with Skylar, have you ever gone into something where that you had to like pull Skylar out?
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: No, like I said, most of anytime we go out and you know we're doing investigations, it's it's places where I can do some some digging, some research on to know what type of activities have been done there and things like that.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Um I've never I've even personally never been to where you know when I was younger, like I said, the first time I went to that um that uh hospital in Maryland, it was just one of those things that was just uncomfortable.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: And it's like, you know, just something doesn't feel right.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: And it was, you know, again, 16 years old, let's let's get out of Dodge type of deal.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but I personally have never been to a location, um, never been with Skylar to where it's like, all right, we we need to stop, we need to shut down every we we need to get out of here for for you know safety, or you know, we felt like something may, you know, possess or anything like that.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: I've never personally had that.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you have you guys ever had anything like that.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think I've had where I told my group like leave the area because I don't want to put my group in any type of danger.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: But I'll go back.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, especially if the females or my daughters involved, I will go back and face that whatever was down there.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Now, are these locations that you previously investigated, or were were these like investigations you were going in and uh the ones that investigations were just going in?
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: So I go in my like the big names, I guess.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: If we're not helping someone out, I don't I don't do any history into the places because I don't want to be influenced.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And once I get you know evidence or EVPs, then I'll go back and do history, then I'll go back to that place and ask questions.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: But usually if something's like hair getting pulled or scratches, yeah, why don't you guys take a step out?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: But I'm going back in and we're gonna get to the bottom of this because majority of places and Nacho knows that you know when women get scratched or more harassed, it's because it's back in the you know early 1900s where they could be someone like me and Nacho going in that you know, bigger dudes that they're not gonna step up to the plate, usually haven't had that happen yet, but um nacho, I never really asked you this protection-wise, anything.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: So I I have a I have a cruci crucifix that I wear.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Um, I've also got a St.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Michael on it.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Um and I only recently got the St.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Michael, I am not Catholic, um, but I did a a psychic reading in Johnstown, and the lady told me that she highly recommended me to get a St.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Michael, and I'm like, okay, so I I kind of humored her, but I still felt like I needed to get it.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Um I do have a Saint Benedict bracelet and a ring, and usually I wear the ring around my necklace as well.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Um I've a couple times forgot to take them with me.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: And like we'll be on the road and I'm like, oh, I forgot to take them.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Usually things are more active when I don't have them.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Um it could be that I'm thinking, oh, you know, I don't have them.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Um but I don't really I don't really know that they do anything for me, right?
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I'm an ordained minister, so I wear the cross anyway.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: But I don't I have not encountered anything myself that would make me fearful of something.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Uh we were just at a location that other people encountered something.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: The person that actually encountered it has been doing this like 25 years and he was like, I'm getting the fuck out of here, I'm just done.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And to me, that that speaks volumes.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: I did not experience it, and I stayed there.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, I stayed there all night.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: But at no time did I feel like I was in danger.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: I think it boils down to again the mentality of the person and each individual, we all have something that gives us a level of of comfort, yeah or confidence, whether it be uh a crucifix, you know, because again, you know, these are just symbols.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Intentions, your your intentions are a lot, exactly.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Your intentions and your state of mind.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: If if you go in there and you're you're down or you're depressed, you're more likely going to encounter something that's gonna be more on the negative side.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: We we try to on most of our investigations get our team together beforehand, maybe sit down and eat a meal, kind of gather our energies, make sure everybody's where we need to be.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: If somebody's down, we lift them up, we get them ready.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Because you want everybody going in there on the same key.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Somebody with that that is, and just Travis said, you know, he he was he was down, he was hurting at the moment, and it affected him.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: They will look for a weak link, right?
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Any chink in the armor is is the easiest place to to jump.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I'm a big believer in positive energy.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Um, I think positive can reflect negative energy, negative energy will bring negative energy in.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Trap souls, hoodie, you know, yeah, swag, little demon trap.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: You guys want some?
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Let me know.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: But no, I mean merch plug here.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, it's my podcast.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: I'm out of plug some merch.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Not you.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Come on, dude.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Oh man, we got some merch.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Skyler has merch.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: When it got washed, there was a sticker on it.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: So this was back, and I don't know if we'll be able to see it well, but this was back in June when we were out on an investigation and her back.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I remember seeing it.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: You know, and she got through the uh she was doing the S's method, and it would say, you know, I will scratch you, I will scratch you.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: And then she started feeling like that on her arm, lifted up her shirt and showed me.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: I was like, All right, but it's time to go.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Let's go.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: You know, and because she's just like, you know, I don't feel comfortable.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: And once she gets to that point, you know, I'm not I'm not gonna force her to stay there.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: It's like you don't feel comfortable, it's time to go.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: And um that that was very interesting that night, and that was that was at Saks Cover Bridge.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: So I mean that's it.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: That's for anybody out there that's doing paranormal.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: When you stop start feeling uncomfortable, just walk out.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: No one to go.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean to know your limits.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're not proving anything to anybody by staying there.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're if you get scratched in.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, I've never been scratched, but I've had people scratch and they felt fine with it.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: But once your demeanor starts going down, get out.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: There's not saying you can't come back, but just go clear your head, you know, maybe bring some of that positive energy back because once you start getting scratched and your demeanor going down, you're starting to think negative.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: It's very important to keep yourself grounded.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, you have to ground yourself, whether whatever you believe in, what whatnot, you know, make sure you're you're level-headed and you are grounded when you go into these places.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, whether it be, and I mean, whether it's been in a place that you've gone into you know a hundred times before in the past, you you have to make sure you you have that right set of mind that your intentions are pure.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: You know, um, we talked about you know, people provoking things like you know, like grandma used to tell us all, you know, you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: So there's no reason to go in there and do the you know the ZB method of investigating.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: That's on that there's no reason that yeah, you know, punching the walls and stuff like that, or climbing on top of dummies.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: Uh-uh, I'm being affected.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: I think that there somebody if somebody asks, do you believe that there's actually like human spirits there, or is it like demons pretending or just spirits chilling out?
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think it's gonna be depending on where you're at, is what you're you're gonna be dealing with, what you're looking for.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: Is the energy just displaced at that point, or you know, yeah, but what what happens to that?
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: That energy has to go somewhere.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because I mean uh like uh like when um Nick Groff done his investigation there at Broadwell, like he said there.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: Uh I I agree with him firm believer once energy is created, it can't be destroyed.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: Our our our energy when we die, it's not destroyed, it goes somewhere.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's physics.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: I don't I I I don't have the I don't have the answer to that and everything.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: Uh I mean I would like to believe when I do die, I do get to go to heaven, and I'm not stuck in this limbo and everything, and wandering the earth and everything, wondering if I uh because we have some cases, I'm sure most of you get all of you and everything on your interactions and everything that you communicate with these possible spirits of they don't realize they're dead and everything.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: I don't want to be that way.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, when my time comes.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I think demonic is 0.00001%.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: You're gonna just get more you know, asshole spirits than anything, evil spirits, whatever.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Would I ever go into a demonic situation?
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: No reason to, my my belief.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Unless you're trying to help a family out that think they have a demonic, then personally I would go in there and say, Yeah, you might have something bad, then I'm gonna find someone that knows what the hell they're doing.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Because oh yeah, I don't have pay grade, man.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, but if you want to know if something's in here and something's bad, I believe 90% of the things are just I guess you want to say misunderstood.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: Again, like someone rolling a ball or like, oh my god, they're scared because a ball or something fell off a table.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: They're just trying to get your attention, they just want to be heard too.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: So that's what Simon we like people talk about like biting or scratching and things like that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: You have to keep in mind that the environment of where you're at.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Um, one of the investigators um that I go to that uh with Pennhurst, is you gotta think of the mentality of those those children that were there.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: They couldn't audibly communicate.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: So they may they may pull your hair, they may scratch you to try to try and communicate with you.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: You know, that there they might even try to like bite, they're not trying to hurt you, but that is their way of communicating, and that's where you know a lot of people don't understand.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: You have to know where you're at and know who you're talking to to know the level of questioning and the way of communicating with these type with with those types of spirits, because though they passed away, that their their mentality is that of when they passed away, you know.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: They're they're not gonna, you know, um mature educationally and things like that.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: So for somebody to say, Oh my, they they grabbed my hair, this is evil.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: No, no, they're they're just trying to talk to you.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: That's how they talk, that's how they communicate.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Evan King, I mean Broadwell, Travis.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: You guys go there a lot, obviously.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have not been there.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Try to get down there sometime.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: Uh more than welcome and everything, hit us up and everything.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: I'm sure we can kind of get you in on good call.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: So I am doing a new series, like I guess you want to call it series, where I'm gonna go to dark basements and spend hours down there by myself.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I just I love basements.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: I'm fascinated with dark basements for some stupid reason.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Uh uh I mean uh that the basement alone and everything is awesome there because I mean sometimes it it it depends and everything.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Uh the one might be up to his we call it the no-good and everything.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: And he like he he's ready to just sit there and play and everything, or there for a while and everything, you actually be able to talk to what we believe is Christopher Bravo or Carl Carl Grotney and everything.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: That is, I mean, we we've had had a couple of responses where they're still doing work and everything because they're in the basement and everything.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: We try to show decently with the lights and everything where the actual embalming room was and stuff where they would prepare the body and stuff.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: So that I mean this is a funeral hump?
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Huh?
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: This is a funeral hump?
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Broadwell, you yeah, it was this.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: I mean, you you you joined in on the on uh first lesson and then.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: I didn't put two and two together.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I mean uh it was uh why do you think there's there's residual energy there?
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: Do you think it's the Broadwells?
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: I I think a lot of it is Broadwell and Carl, especially the Broadwells and everything.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: A lot of KKK memor memorabilia, a lot of things about the Underground Railroad that turned in a huge huge fit fiasco and everything where it was like on a hiatus, no one wants to work there for three months because like we can't believe this town was like it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: It's like we're right on the edge of where the south and north was divided.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: You had a lot of people that did support to end slavery, and then still a lot of people that did not support.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was an old country town and everything.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, it I think some of it's more residual in energy and everything, and some of it still doesn't have, especially with Rosalie and everything.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: Um we're gonna release some videos that she just she's upset and doesn't fully understand why she was treated the way she was.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: That I mean that's sad.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: But I mean that was such a common thing back then.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: You know, look at Penner's, that's where people ship those children to.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Yes, put them on a they had a train that would take the train and it would end there.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: They would just put the kids on the train and the train would just take them.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: You know, like like concentration camp style.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: But you know, when there, if you look back, there have been major historic events where there have been very horrific funeral directors that have done very, very bad things.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: If you look back at um there's the HBO documentary series now, it's called The Mortician that goes back about the lamb funeral home.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Uh that property is now open for well, it's an escape room, but you can actually go there and investigate.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: And now I think things like that where the bodies maybe have been desecrated or mutilated, you know, yeah, they they have a valid reason for wanting to be there to be involved and things like that.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: So I can see something with that type of energy being trapped there, that makes sense.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: You look at um what's the Nobles Georgia um tri-state crematory?
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: That was one of the biggest, biggest issues uh in funeral in the funeral profession, where they just weren't cremating the bodies and burying the bodies on the property.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: Um you know, so the question is, would there possibly be some would there would that be something where you know there could be residual energy because they the person was never truly put to rest?
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: True.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: Uh I mean, like sitting there like going back and like in the timeline of when that funeral was first created and everything.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, who's to sit there and say that and murder didn't happen and they just like slip cash money?
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Hey, cover it up, get rid of the yeah, get rid of this body for me and stuff.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: That's what a lot of people you never think you know, Jimmy Hoffy Hoff is under a giant stadium or whatever.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: A lot of people believe that he was just paid by they paid off a funeral director to cremate the body and the ashes have just been disposed of.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: Like when we was uh sitting there announcing in like in the the town's uh uh they call it the Friends of Felicity Facebook page, um one of our posts and everything.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: Someone sat there and commented on it, and sit there and said, Hey, I used to live right across the front of the street and everything when Carl Grotney ran it from ran it.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: I lived from this year to this year and stuff, was real good friends with Carl Grotney, but I always remember him.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: He would sit there and pour the blood into these large clay pipes out by the garage and stuff.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: It's like when you embalm it, it all goes into the the general, it just goes into the toilet base and then it gets flushed.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Yes, we're trying to like find records of who's been through there for funerals and stuff.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Uh the last remaining um funeral home and everything, they have all the bearer part plots location.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: Well when the funeral closed, the funeral home would have had to give in the records to a um designated funeral home.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: So uh they get um uh uh broad uh not broad uh the McIntyre funeral home, they have all the locations of where the bodies were buried and stuff.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: That's what the owner said.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: I haven't personally got a chance to talk to him and sit there and see, like, hey, can we kind of get some like possible names or something when you guys got time and everything?
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Just try it the problem.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Look, you're still bound by HIPAA, okay, even though the person's deceased, like we would only be able to give information out if the legal next of kin gave us permission to release information.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: That's why I also kind of figured anything because I mean I know quite a bit of HIPAA.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: So yeah, now you can go back and start doing obituary searches if you have like Ancestry or Newspaper.com subscriptions, just start looking up the name of the funeral home on those searches and start looking at those obituaries.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: That's how you can circumvent that.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's good because like uh doing some good like Google search and everything, of course.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, of course, during that time and everything, it's like not a lot of stuff was really posted online wasn't existence.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I mean, we've been hitting some roadblocks there, but I mean on our downtimes, we've been really going through and trying to try and find out.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: More history because each time we go in there, we have like questions and everything.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: We might get some answers, but we're always leaving there with a lot more questions.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: And I mean that just goes to show you.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's there's something there's that's the best part though.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: When you walk away with more questions than answers, that's where you feel like, okay, I I got my experience worth tonight.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: And you know, because when you come in and you got the answers to everything, I think we walk away all the time, never having answers.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: If we had the answers, we wouldn't be continuing to go out and investigate.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: True.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, most of these podcasts I come out with more questions than answers.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: So and that's I bet you didn't know when we embalm it, it goes right into the the the regular, you know, sewage.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we're so we're hour 40 minutes into this.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: I think Travis, we may do a little collab with us for down there, yeah, investigation.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, sit there in the summer, yeah.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: I mean, we can start planning something out and everything.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: Um I'm sure I can get Austin to sit there and kind of make it where it's um pretty reasonable and stuff.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: So I mean, we can bring we can bring the mortician down.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: But that's what I'm saying.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: You know, you you can bring it in and be like, hey, look, I got my card carry a membership here.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Let's go, let's talk.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, talk about you and Skylar.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: So what is do you have a bucket list place that you would want to investigate?
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Oh man, we did we did a um a Facebook live and a YouTube live a couple months back where we did our uh we were supposed to do our top 10, and I think it turned into like a top 20 of where we would want to investigate somewhere over in the UK, um, overseas.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, she she just chipped one off of her list yesterday because she just she wanted to do a private at Jenny Wade.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: She wants to do um Ferrar.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: She's been invited to be able to come out there.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: I know there were one that I know I will never ever ever be able to investigate is I would love to investigate the Vatican.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's Travis's right there.
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: I think it would be epic to investigate the epic the Vatican.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: I think the there's a couple places, uh, you know, Trans Allegheny, we'd love to get out there.
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: There's just so many.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: There's so many because there's just so much that you see everyone else's investigations, but you know as well as I do your investigation today, and then you go back tomorrow and it's completely different.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: It's a different activity, it's a different experience, um, whether it be who you bring with you or it's just who you're actually interacting with.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: So we're we're so excited, you know.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Skylar, you know, she's loving the um, you know, just the friends she's making.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: You know, we went to Para Unity yesterday over in New Jersey, and it was so cool.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: We were we got through the security, got through security there, and as we're walking around just going to different vendors, like people are coming up to her recognizing her and like, oh my god, you're Skylar.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: It's so cool to finally meet you.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: You know, we follow you on YouTube or Facebook and things like that.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: And you know, she was just she was loving life, and I can't as her dad, I'm just sitting there, I because she's happy, it's making me exceedingly happy.
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: The best feeling in the world, and everything see that something on her child's face.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: I can see Chris back there behind her be like, Hey, I'm Chris.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: Hey.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: She's got little business cards now, so she hands out little business cards.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: So and she's like they're like, Oh, is that your dad?
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: And she's like, No, that's my cameraman.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: I was like, Really?
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: I'm the cameraman and the show.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: It's like good luck with that.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: That's cool.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: So I always ask everybody these generic questions, like equipment-wise, what's your like your go-to piece of equipment?
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Uh SB, we use the SB11 Spirit Box.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: We like that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: Um, Skyler has a whole line.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: We use uh Vortex Ghost Gear, who um Bob, Christopher, and Gina Benston, Bangston.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Um, they're the ones that put on Pennhurst Paracon every year, but they also own Vortex Ghost Gear.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: They make all their gear.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Uh, they live here in Pennsylvania.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Uh, they give a lifetime warranty with the equipment, too.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: So if your equipment ever goes south, something happens, they will either fix it or replace that equipment for you.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: No questions, no cost to you.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: Um, so definitely if you ever look for we actually just have, I should have brought it down.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna start beta testing um uh piece of equipment that he just started making.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Uh it's called the Nexus, and it has it's a yes or no device, but it also does sound motion and temperature regulation to be able to determine and the the yes or no.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: So we'll I'll uh have some videos of that shortly.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: Uh they gave it to us yesterday when we were in Jersey to start testing out for them.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: So I'm really excited for that.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: Um met them at Gettysburg this summer and phenomenal people.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, were you at the bash?
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we were at the bash.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: Their prices are amazing.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: Uh like uh if if you want a custom music box, any music you want on it, they'll put it on there, any skin you want on it, they'll put on it.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: It's like 110 bucks.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was just it was amazing.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: They're the easy skin to be true is like 200 bucks, but it's absolutely amazing because you don't have to sit there and you're fumbling with all the little buttons and reverse and all like that.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: You turn them on, you've one, two, three, or four for your speed, and it you know, we've gotten good results with that.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: And like I said, what I really love is that if something goes wrong, you pick up the phone, Bob will either help you troubleshoot the issue over the phone, or he'll say, Send it back to me, I'm sending you a new one.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: And that's for the lifetime of that as long as you own that product or that piece of equipment, they'll stand behind it.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's cool.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: The trigger product.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: Um, we've got the trigger uh animals.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: We have one of the cats that's really cool.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: And when we go into the Gettysburg Orphanage with the kids, they like to pet the cat versus having the REM pod just out.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: It's built into a cat or a dog.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: Um, they actually made a special one for Skylar.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: Um, it's in a little fox.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Um, they gave it to her at the bash, so she's got pictures posted on her Facebook page of that.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: So a lot of people don't realize.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: So Gina, who is Bob's now fiance from Vortex, that's how Skylar got her name, para kit.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: So, para kit, you have para for paranormal, and then kit is a baby fox.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: So Skylar loves foxes.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Well, Gina's Bob's fiance Gina is known in the field as the para fox.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: So she called her her little kit.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: So that's how Skylar got her name, para kit, in in the paranormal.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: That's cool, that works.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: I mean then that's just so now Gina, it's like her namesake and all, it's pretty cool.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: But yeah, if you ever get a chance, check out their website, check out their Facebook page.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: I mean, they they're amazing people, they will literally give you the shirt off.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: They are so nice.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: That's you might want to reach out to them, um, Ryan, and they'll they'll they'll come on the podcast with you.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, actually, I was just thinking about that this last probably last month.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: I because I've had owners on, I've had you know other people on other groups on.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: Like I want to get someone that makes equipment on and why they do you remember the old TV show Ghost Detectives?
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's Bob, Bob Christopher.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, I'll reach out to them.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: See, that'd be that'd be cool to have on.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, because again, like you said, I mean, I've had owners on, and I'm very specific on who I have on the show.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Um, you won't be able to tell because Nacho's on all the time, but no, I mean, I always tell people I go through your Facebook page, I go through your YouTube page.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: If you're just asking for followers, I don't invite you on the show.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: That's just like truly like vet people, you know what I mean?
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and same with owners.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Are you just buying the place just to try to make a profit, but to let you know you're not going to because owning a paranormal building is expensive?
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: I'll reach out to them and see if we can get them on a show sometime.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: It'd be cool to see the different equipment out there.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, we always have questions how it works, why it works, and why you do this.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: So Gina's got her own show on Thursday nights on YouTube and Facebook, the Fox then with Gina B.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: So you can go back and look at all her per.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: I mean, she's been doing it for years now.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: But so you got 10 minutes.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: What are the questions you truly ever wanted to ask a mortician and funeral director?
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, somebody out there.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: Uh uh while uh people sit there.
- 31:10SPEAKER_03: So you kind of mentioned everything earlier, and everything you guys are the last responder and everything.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, so I mean, like I uh for me being a first responder, I'm in fire emails and everything.
- 31:23SPEAKER_03: We see it while it happened and stuff.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: How I'm sure there's probably a little more difference and everything from when we first see it and everything and see how the family is and stuff compared to when you're seeing it and everything.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: Kind of like explaining that because I also know that there's sometimes that you got you have to know when to kind of take a step back and decompress and everything.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: How is that for you?
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: You again, you you have to you have to know your limits.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: You have to know your limits.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: And you know, before I had Skylar, I would handle any of the children calls and stuff like that.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: Because I didn't have that, like my co-workers had children and things like you know what I mean.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: But now it's it's a different um it's a different feeling, it's a different atmosphere.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: One 100%.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: I I understand where you come from there.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: You know, as far as you know, we still I see a lot of families raw with PTSD when when they come in to make arrangements, and it we we have to, you know, carefully walk them through, and and again, that's where the term funeral director comes in.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: We're there to direct, you know, and and that's where a lot of people that are starting in the profession have trouble because you you need to know when you need to take control of the situation and direct the family, because the family has no idea what they're doing.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: Oh no, no.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: You may only in your lifetime, if you're lucky, have to plan one funeral.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: I do it every single day.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: So let me do.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: I always I tell people, I said, just step back and let me do my job.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: You know, your your mom, your dad, your your sister, your brother, whomever, they're in excellent hands.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna take care of them.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: I am your family for the next you know, 72, 48, whatever hours that we're gonna be working together.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: I'm still your family.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: And then I always tell people at the end of the service, just because the service ends doesn't mean I'm not here for you.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Pick up the phone and call me if you need something.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: That's what we're here for.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: Um the trauma is real.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: Like people don't understand that, you know, when you leave the scene, that family's still there, and then the problem is a lot of times when you clear a scene and you know the the per their their loved one is still there, and then we we show up, and then you know, we get involved.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: We're we're taking the person out of the residence, bringing them into our care.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: And some of the sometimes that's the most difficult part for the family.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: You're physically letting that that's when reality starts to set in that this person is never coming back.
- 34:06SPEAKER_02: I am taking that person from you.
- 34:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it can get it can get very emotional in those settings.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: And we have to you have to know you you can't sit there and yes, you you feel for that family, and you like I said before, we give a piece to everyone we work with, but we can't get emotionally you can't show it and everything this is just like there and everything because I mean we I'm very sympathetic, you know.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: I and one of the things I will never when I when a family comes in to meet with me, I will never say the words, I'm sorry for your loss.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: Because a family can tell when you're full of BS very quickly.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: Oh especially in that moment.
- 34:49SPEAKER_02: I'll never forget uh old older lady, she was a widow, and I said, You know, Mrs.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Mrs.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Smith, I'm I'm sorry for your loss.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: She said, No, you're not.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: You're here to do a job, you're protecting, you're you're collecting a paycheck, you know.
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: And I'm like that that that that resonated with me.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I understand how she could interpret that.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: You know, I I legitimately was sorry.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: So now I always explain to people, I'm sorry we're meeting under these circumstances.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: And it's it's it's all about words matter.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: And even in a paranormal and investigations, like we talk about intentions and things like words matter.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I mean, a lot of people, I mean, we were going out, we we were doing the same thing.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: We were during during the pandemic, you know, we we had we were running out of room, we were, you know, backlogged, we were, you know, trying to one of the hardest things is sitting there with a family to make arrangements and you know explaining to them, well, how can you choose which three people you can bring into the building for the funeral service?
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: You know, and it's and it's a grandmother that has 20 ch grandchildren.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: You know, I mean, it it was rough times, and a lot of people didn't give the funeral directors or the morticians the thought of the day.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: It was no granted, you the first responders, the doctors, and all like that, but it once once the person passed, you gotta be very tactful and you handle people with kicks.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Here's the thing I treat everyone with the same amount of respect as if it were my mother or my father.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: What whether I'm embalming, whether I'm cremating, down to placing flower arrangements.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna treat that person as if they were my mom, they were my dad, they were my wife.
- 36:42SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 36:43SPEAKER_02: They get the same nobody whether it's a a$50,000 funeral or whether it's a a thousand dollar cremation, they get the same service no matter what.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: And a lot of people have a hard time differentiating that in this in this profession, and it's sad.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: Chris, what happens when somebody doesn't have any family or somebody just can't pay?
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: And how often does that happen?
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: A lot, a lot.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: That's why I asked because I'm sure it happens a lot.
- 37:19SPEAKER_02: And so from my previous role with my company before we were a state contractor.
- 37:25SPEAKER_02: Um, for and and so in the state of Maryland, if you pass away in a hospital and you're not claimed by your family or funeral director within 72 hours, they notify what's called the Maryland State Anatomy Board.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Um, the decedent is transported to the state.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: They try to make contact with the next of kin and see if they're planning on you know making arrangements or things like that.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: If not, and they say, you know, we just don't have the finances or anything, um, the decedent becomes a ward of the state.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: And the Maryland State Anatomy Board will see if the decedent will qualify for any type of um research or donation programs.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: So, like as an EMT and things like that, a lot of times when you guys do your intub intubation training, you would be using cadavers.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: So as if the body is in good enough shape to be able to be used for those types of programs, they'll go through those programs and then they'll sign a death certificate over, and then most they're sent to the crematory, they're cremated.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: The cremated remains are then sent back to the anatomy board, and then once a year, what they do is they buy a grave liner, it's a like a concrete box, and they'll put the temporary urns into that concrete box and bury them in a state cemetery.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Um, and every state has different programs.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Um, some have with local funeral homes, depending on how small the the towns are or the states are, they may offer you know a minimal fee for the funeral home to be able to handle the cremation and things like that.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: And then they go to like um a Potter's Field or a pauper's grave.
- 39:06SPEAKER_02: So and it happens a lot, like I said, the people don't don't forecast, and you know, most of the no one's ever in a hurry to see me, and it's one of those things that they no one ever thinks about it until it's too late.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: I'll sit down with people making arrangements, and the first words out of my mouth are okay.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: What did mom or dad or whom what what what are we gonna do?
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: And the first they'll they'll look at me and they say, We we don't know, we never talked, we never had this conversation.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: And most people don't want to talk about it.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't want to talk about when I'm gonna die, right?
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's well, we're a death denying society, and I'll I'll tell you why.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: So if you ever go to the hospital, and as an if you guys are first EMTs or whatnot, if as a funeral director, when I go to the hospital, if I'm looking for the morgue, there's one particular object I will look to find, and I will find the morgue.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: The dumpsters.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Most morgues are by the dumpsters.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: They're there, they don't want people to be seen coming out of a facility.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Nursing homes now.
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: If you go to pick someone up, you got to go out the back door.
- 40:21SPEAKER_02: There's there's no, you know, we're we are so death denying, it's not even funny.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: There's only one veteran, there's a veterans um hospice unit that when the veteran passes, we go to the room, they will drape the cot with a flag, they will do an honor walk lining the the whole route to the car.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: You go right out the front door, and I mean it is the most amazing sight to see because everywhere else they'll hurry up and push people in their rooms and shut the doors and this, that, and the third.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: No, Chris, again, thanks.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: Um, if you anybody out there has never followed Chris on Facebook, follow him.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: His was it coffee daily coffee conversations?
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: Yep, you have morning coffee conversations with your friendly neighborhood mortician.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, they're unbelievable.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: Um, you did talk about that that one time on yours, and it hit home with me about how people don't want to talk about it.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: You know, make the plans, you know, find out what your loved ones want.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Um, so everything he says in those just quite you don't question yourself, but they all make sense to me.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, I love them, I look forward to them every day.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they're a little later in the day, they're not mornings, but you're a busy guy, so we understand that.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: Um keep being you.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: I always say that to everybody, but again, a mortician is they're special people, and yes, I don't know if I can say it's not a jealousy thing, but the way you just outlook in life is just unbelievable.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: I know I have my one good friend's a mortician, and you know, growing up with him in high school, he was called Wild Thing, and then I appreciate you coming on.

- 42:39SPEAKER_02: So there'll be a lot more uh video content from the funeral home showing is that like tomorrow I plan on you know, I got caskets coming in for some services, so I'm actually gonna show, you know, you know, make a video of you know how we like how a casket's received, how we check them in, what we look over and stuff like that.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, once I build a little bit of rapport with the community, it's you know, I will never show you an embalming, but I I plan on bringing you guys into the embalming room, talking about the instruments, explaining you know what the instruments are used for, and you know, even going into you know, like what the different types of embalming chemicals we use.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: So that's stuff that I'll you know, just again follow along.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: And if you have questions, drop them there, and I'll be sure to you know either make a video or answer the questions.
