- 1:00SPEAKER_03: And guys, we are boots on the ground today in what we call the center of the universe, Carlinville, right here in Mid-Ellinois with our lovely 10X partners, First Choice Realty Pros, Lisa Miller and Lydia Emmons.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: Hey, we've got a lot of stops today, don't we, ladies?
- 1:17SPEAKER_03: We do.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: We do.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: And today, what we're basically trying to tell you guys is potential buyers that are wanting to come into the area.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: We want you to know there is everything and beyond that we have to offer here.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: So much more.
- 1:32SPEAKER_04: It's just amazing how much a little town like Carlinville has to offer.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: And and you know, before we start recording, Lisa brought up a good point was, you know, after the fact that you've sold people their homes and closed, you're educating people, informing them of what we're doing here.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: People will call us after they have moved here and say, what's what's there to do in Carlinville?
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: And then we can tell them about Room's Orchard and all the festivals that they have, the the ice cream socials that the town has, all of the things that go on here that people don't really realize there's always something to do.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: And our business owners today that we're gonna be checking in with, you guys do not want to miss.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Make sure you're tuning in to the entire episode.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of little nuggets here.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Like we said, Brooms Orchard.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Who else are we?
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: Old fashioned.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: That was a good one.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: Um one of the top restaurants in the area for sure.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: So there's gonna be a lot of information, a lot for all of you to do.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: We can't wait to share this with you.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: Hey, we are here today in Carlinville at Brooms Orchard.
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: Everybody knows Brooms Orchard with their new owners, Marcus and Kelsey.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: We're so thrilled to be doing this segment with Brooms Orchard today.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: So when people move to Carlinville, they're always trying to make those new traditions.
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: What's one of those things that Brooms offers that they could start doing with their family?
- 2:59SPEAKER_12: Well, I would say for sure the Apple and Pumpkin Festival that we do every year.
- 3:04SPEAKER_12: It's a great event.
- 3:05SPEAKER_12: We got vendors, we got the you pick um apples and pumpkins, and it's a great time to bring your family out and spend some quality time together.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: I make sure I'm there every time.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: Apples, the pumpkin fest, all of that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: It's the it's a great time for all families.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: So tell me what's here.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: What do you guys have to offer?
- 3:24SPEAKER_07: We got a little bit of everything.
- 3:25SPEAKER_07: So right now, what's in season is we've got our um juicy freestone peaches.
- 3:30SPEAKER_07: I've got Cresthaven peaches on uh I have to take some home today.
- 3:33SPEAKER_07: They're great.
- 3:34SPEAKER_07: They're uh they're really good.
- 3:35SPEAKER_07: One of our uh most popular peaches is the Cresthavens.
- 3:38SPEAKER_07: We've also got some apples, we've got polar red apples, they're a great late summer apple, great for eating, a really nice, versatile apple.
- 3:44SPEAKER_07: So, and then we've also got plenty of market goods.
- 3:47SPEAKER_07: We've got uh your old-fashioned caramel corn, kettle corn, we've got uh fresh local honey, um cobbler mix, syrups.
- 3:54SPEAKER_07: We've got all kinds of stuff uh that you can't necessarily find everywhere else.
- 3:58SPEAKER_04: Sounds good.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: One of the things I love about Carlinville and the businesses around town is that they all collaborate together and they help each other and they use each other's products.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: What's going on with Brooms and some of the businesses in town?
- 4:12SPEAKER_07: Well, yeah, I mean, ever since we took over this winter, we've had nothing but support from the community of Carlinville, not just from the residents and business owners just coming out and supporting us and buying fruit, but also collaborating with us.
- 4:22SPEAKER_07: So, you know, we're already working with old-fashioned, providing them peaches for their peach salads and their peach smoothies there at the bar.
- 4:28SPEAKER_07: We've been working with potrios, getting them uh some fresh peaches to make their peach margaritas with.
- 4:33SPEAKER_07: Uh, we've been working with Star's Primal Meats.
- 4:35SPEAKER_07: They need some apple butter for some of their meat products, their bratwurst patties.
- 4:38SPEAKER_07: So um it's been really good and really welcoming uh to get that kind of support from uh from other business owners and you know, folks we grew up with.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: So you came from Louisiana.
- 4:48SPEAKER_07: We were born and raised here, but we spent 14 years in Louisiana after college and uh built a beautiful life down there, had three kids, and uh really enjoyed um the life we'd built down there, but we just felt like we needed to be closer to family and uh you know, family's everything.
- 5:02SPEAKER_07: We wanted to be closer to uh to our family and our moms and dads, wanted our kids to grow up around family.
- 5:07SPEAKER_07: So this opportunity came available and it just uh it just made sense.
- 5:11SPEAKER_07: And we we thought about moving back closer to home, maybe the Metro East, maybe a little bit further away.
- 5:16SPEAKER_07: But every time we'd come home and visit, Carlville is what what called us back.
- 5:19SPEAKER_07: We love Carmelville specifically.
- 5:21SPEAKER_07: We grew up here.
- 5:22SPEAKER_07: There's no better people in America than the people in Carlonville.
- 5:25SPEAKER_07: So that's that's what really sold it to us.
- 5:28SPEAKER_07: And uh when this opportunity came available, it just it just kind of made sense.
- 5:31SPEAKER_07: And we uh might be crazy, but we're uh we're making it happen.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: So well, that's fantastic.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: And Carlinville wants to welcome you home.
- 5:39SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
- 5:39SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: We are sitting here with Kelly Beam at Route 66, old-fashioned.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: Kelly, I just want to know if we have a closing today with new clients coming into town.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: They are fresh to Carlinville, they have not been here before, and they just moved here.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: We get done with our closing and we recommend them to come here for dinner.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: What would you tell them to have for their specialty entree and a special cocktail for their celebratory dinner tonight?
- 6:04SPEAKER_09: To be honest, I think probably my favorite entree that we serve would be the salmon with a bourbon glaze.
- 6:10SPEAKER_09: And then I would have to do the warm bacon salad on the side.
- 6:14SPEAKER_09: Um, that's my absolute favorite.
- 6:16SPEAKER_09: Um, for the cocktail, I'm actually partial to wine.
- 6:19SPEAKER_09: And we have a beautiful red wine selection.
- 6:22SPEAKER_09: But if you had to twist my arm on a cocktail, it would probably be an eprow spritz.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: And I just have another tip.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: I do work here as well.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Um, so in my opinion, I would offer and recommend them to have the chicken bacon a lote panini with rustic fries.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: And we always have a specialty menu each month that shows what, three to four drinks, usually fruit-based.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Um, any drink on that is a good selection as well.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: Chicken bacon a lote is one of my favorites.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: That's my number one.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: Now we have Chris here, Kelly's husband.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: We have a true speakeasy right in the heart of Carlinville.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: You are from Carlinville, this is your hometown, and your speakeasy brings just such a cool, unique vibe to the town and just everyone in general here in the surrounding areas.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: What do you want people to feel the second they walk in here and when they walk down to our speakeasy?
- 7:11SPEAKER_06: Thanks, Lydia.
- 7:12SPEAKER_06: And I really do want everybody to just feel comfortable.
- 7:15SPEAKER_06: Whether you're coming from far or you're just coming out to celebrate the end of a day and a great stretch cooked meal, we want everybody to just feel right at home.
- 7:24SPEAKER_06: So the vibe that we're trying to do is something that's uh unique choice.
- 7:29SPEAKER_06: And that's why we have the kind of the hidden door.
- 7:32SPEAKER_06: That's why we have all the features we have, but it's really is uh just an alternative, something different to try in right here in Carlinville.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: I think being a part of Route 66 and just being, like I said, right here in the heart of Carnival, what does that bring different to us as well?
- 7:48SPEAKER_06: Well, Lydia, that's a great question because we have so many visitors on Fridays and Saturdays, and literally we just had a group from Brazil this morning that stopped through.
- 7:59SPEAKER_06: But we have these groups that are always trying to experience the mother road.
- 8:04SPEAKER_06: So they come in and they want a unique experience.
- 8:06SPEAKER_06: And I really feel like that's where Carlinville shines because this is our hometown.
- 8:12SPEAKER_06: We're proud of every part of it.
- 8:13SPEAKER_06: And I think that's what they see and they feel when they come to Carlinville.
- 8:17SPEAKER_06: They see all of the different businesses working together, whether it's the hospital or Blackburn or all of the businesses around the square, we work together to hook them.
- 8:25SPEAKER_06: And we've had so many visitors say, When I get all the way through 66, I'm coming back to Carlinville because this was my favorite spot so far.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: They truly do.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: We have Carrie with us now from Apothecary.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: The first question I have is what made you come up with the name for your business?
- 8:44SPEAKER_10: Well, my name is Carrie, and I wanted to have a pretty natural store.
- 8:48SPEAKER_10: And so I thought Apothecary sounded perfect.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: It works out perfect, doesn't it?
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Um, one of my first questions is we want our buyers' new house that they just got their keys to.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: We just closed on it to feel like home.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: What are a few suggestions in your store that you would want them to love and go home with?
- 9:06SPEAKER_10: Okay, well, we have a lot of variety here.
- 9:09SPEAKER_10: I have some uh soy candles, natural candles.
- 9:12SPEAKER_10: They smell amazing.
- 9:13SPEAKER_10: They're really good sellers.
- 9:15SPEAKER_10: Everybody loves them.
- 9:16SPEAKER_10: And then we also have the refillery, which is uh clean, all natural.
- 9:20SPEAKER_10: You have cleaner, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner.
- 9:23SPEAKER_10: And then we also have like fresh baked breads and stuff.
- 9:26SPEAKER_10: So you can't go wrong with some fresh bread and some butter.
- 9:29SPEAKER_10: I love that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: What's your favorite thing in the store?
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, I love that.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: And those are new, right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Yep, we just got those today.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Perfect.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: Um, my last question is this specific store.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: What made you bring it to Carlinville?
- 9:44SPEAKER_10: Okay, so well, we live here and um I just love the shops in Carlinville.
- 9:49SPEAKER_10: I love the variety, I love, you know, the small town feel and how everybody kind of works together for the shops.
- 9:55SPEAKER_10: And um, so I'm also a nurse and I got tired of, you know, in Carlinville, we just have Walmart to get clean ingredient groceries, products.
- 10:05SPEAKER_10: And even when you think it's clean, it doesn't mean that it actually is until you read the ingredients.
- 10:09SPEAKER_10: So I take the guesswork out of it and I just have everything here, and you don't have to read the ingredients unless you really want to, and you have allergies, and we have stuff for sensitive skin and all natural.
- 10:20SPEAKER_10: So perfect.
- 10:21SPEAKER_10: Well, I love that.
- 10:22SPEAKER_10: Thank you so much.
- 10:23SPEAKER_04: You're welcome.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: We are here today with Holly Crow at Crow Boots, and we have some questions for her.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: So, Holly, when a person is doing a lot of walking, what shoe do you recommend?
- 10:36SPEAKER_11: Hands down Brooks.
- 10:37SPEAKER_11: We have so many customers who have come in and switched from other brands to Brooks that that's number one winner.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and so not just tennis shoes, but also for tradesmen.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: My husband comes in here and gets his Red Wing boots.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: So you have lots of boots for tradesmen as well.
- 10:53SPEAKER_11: Definitely.
- 10:54SPEAKER_11: We have a lot of uh different brands of work boots as well.
- 10:58SPEAKER_11: We've got a whole work boot wall, and we always help customers sit down and measure their feet and make sure that we're helping them get the right thing for what they're doing and that they're fitted properly.
- 11:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm sure that you've got the cowboy boot for the boot scoot scootin' boot book.
- 11:13SPEAKER_04: We do have a few of those, yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 11:17SPEAKER_04: And I know that um you partner with Royal Family Kids, and I am also a partner with Royal Family Kids, and that helps uh kids who really don't have a home have a living in foster care.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: Yes, yeah, yes, and so we partner with them because why?
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: We want to make sure these kids know that they're loved and that they have shoes on their feet, yeah, and um it's just a big part.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: And I know that you make sure that those sizes and the quality is there for them.
- 11:50SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 11:50SPEAKER_11: We love royal family kids and what they're doing, they're helping foster families meet the needs of these children.
- 11:56SPEAKER_11: Yes, and so we are just grateful that we can be a small part of helping these kiddos, and so some of them never had a new pair of shoes.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 12:06SPEAKER_04: True, very true.
- 12:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it it's and I've got to see the faces of the kids who get the new pair of shoes.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: They are shining, yes, running out with a big smile on their face, showing off their shoes.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: It's great.
- 12:20SPEAKER_11: It is fun, it is fun to work with them.
- 12:22SPEAKER_11: We go in and we measure their feet and um make sure that they're fitted properly.
- 12:26SPEAKER_11: And then what happens is Royal Family Kids gives those shoes to the kids kind of at a birthday party.
- 12:32SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 12:32SPEAKER_11: So they get them like as a birthday gift.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: So, what made you want to put a boot store or shoe store right here in the greatest town ever, Carlinville?
- 12:44SPEAKER_11: Oh, that is so funny.
- 12:45SPEAKER_11: We are just kind of in love with um restoring buildings and things like that.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: And it looks great in here.
- 12:52SPEAKER_11: Thank you.
- 12:52SPEAKER_11: Um, so this building had been empty for several years, and we saw a for sale sign, and you know, we never really planned on opening our own business or anything like that, but we just felt like something needs to go here.
- 13:04SPEAKER_11: And we asked ourselves, what is it that Carlomville needs that we don't already have here?
- 13:09SPEAKER_11: And we landed on a shoe store.
- 13:11SPEAKER_11: And primarily the first thought was Red Wing work boots because they're in such demand.
- 13:16SPEAKER_11: There's so many tradespeople.
- 13:18SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah, and farmers in this community and you know, surrounding town.
- 13:22SPEAKER_11: So we landed on a family footwear store.
- 13:25SPEAKER_11: That's fantastic.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Woo! What a great afternoon we had exploring the lovely town of Carlinville, Illinois, with our wonderful 10x partners, Lisa Miller and Lydia Emmons of First Choice Realty Pros.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: And you guys might be hearing some, you know, vehicles revming up because, like I said, we have been around town.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: We're sitting on center stage.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: We're center stage right now.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: We're sitting on the gazebo.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: We are.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: And it's raining, we don't even care.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: We don't even care.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: We do not even care.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: So, what was the biggest takeaway you got from today, Lydia?
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: How much everyone loves Carlinville?
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: What every business in this town has to offer the residents that live here, other businesses, how everyone is so kind and has a big heart and open arms to new people that are coming into this town, people that have been here since they were born, just anyone that is around, how welcoming the whole town is.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I felt like all these businesses were like amazing today.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: Like, like, just like again, the welcoming and they truly want to make a better living experience for everyone who lives here.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: They want to find out what your needs are as a resident of Carlinville.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Which is so awesome.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: And you know what?
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: First Choice Realty Pros is here to meet your needs, whether it's buying or selling.
