- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning DMV. I see you Bethesda pretending that you're awake.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's okay. You go ahead and pretend we're awake. So

- 0:16Speaker 2: with Toby and Chili in the morning. You feeling good today, Chili?
- 0:20Speaker 4: Why?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Well, first of all, you're assuming I'm awake. Just because
- 0:23Speaker 3: I'm here doesn't mean I'm truly awake.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Well, there's that.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yesterday was marathon meeting day here at work.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Oh, it wasn't just a marathon meeting day at meetings.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. You had medical stuff going on.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Oh, I had to go to physical therapy. Then I
- 0:36Speaker 2: had a doctor's appointment. Then I had another virtual doctor's appointment.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It's like they drop these meetings on us just to
- 0:45Speaker 2: have meetings sometimes, I feel, and it's The reality is
- 0:50Speaker 2: nobody stops to ask us what else we have going
- 0:53Speaker 2: on in life after we're done with the show, after
- 0:57Speaker 2: we get up at what time?
- 0:59Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 0:59Speaker 3: This is what we're talking about, why we're feeling good.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So I'm feeling good that there are currently. No meetings.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Knock on wood.
- 1:07Speaker 3: On the calendar. Now, they may stick one in between
- 1:10Speaker 3: now and the end of the show.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm sure they will.
- 1:12Speaker 3: But for now, I'm feeling good, Toby, because there are
- 1:15Speaker 3: no meetings today.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Well, hallelujah.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yes, and no medical appointments and whatnot.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Good for you. Good for you. I don't have any today.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So far, yes. Knock on wood.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But I'm feeling pretty good today because I'm hopped up
- 1:29Speaker 2: on DayQuil.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And hopefully it'll wipe out any kind of the sinusitis, gimmick,
- 1:34Speaker 2: mucus thing, whatever, that I have going on that is
- 1:39Speaker 2: not COVID or the flu. I know I have tests. But,
- 1:42Speaker 2: you know, little things, big wins. Why are you feeling
- 1:46Speaker 2: good today? Give us a call at 866-927-4361. Tell us,
- 1:50Speaker 2: because joy is contagious. In the meantime, hang out, because
- 1:54Speaker 2: the news is important in this town. Top stories at
- 1:57Speaker 2: the top of the hour coming up. What are you
- 2:00Speaker 2: working on this morning?
- 2:01Speaker 3: Apple fans will soon have a new iPhone option, and
- 2:05Speaker 3: it's a bit old school. I've got all the details
- 2:08Speaker 3: on the way.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Republicans opened their first ever midterm convention in Dallas yesterday.
- 2:19Speaker 3: The president spoke, touting border security, tax cuts and energy,
- 2:23Speaker 3: and also pledged $ 5, 000 checks to adults if the GOP
- 2:28Speaker 3: keeps Congress. But he did not say where that money
- 2:31Speaker 3: would come from. A 13-year-old Frost Middle School student was
- 2:35Speaker 3: killed yesterday when a truck struck the child's bike near
- 2:38Speaker 3: a Fairfax City shopping center. It was one of three
- 2:42Speaker 3: vehicle incidents involving Fairfax County students that day, and the
- 2:45Speaker 3: superintendent sent a letter to parents urging families to talk
- 2:49Speaker 3: safety with their kids. Two more people have been arrested
- 2:53Speaker 3: in connection with Friday's deadly shooting in Manassas. Police say
- 2:56Speaker 3: 19-year-old Xavier Wanzer and 23-year-old Talib Davis exchanged gunfire with
- 3:01Speaker 3: another man during the first Friday festival, killing a 16-year-old bystander.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Silver Diner is suing the operator of BWI, claiming that
- 3:11Speaker 3: it's trying to force the Rockville-based chain out after 20 years.
- 3:16Speaker 3: The diner says the airport concessions operator demanded an $ 8
- 3:19Speaker 3: to $ 10 million renovation and a year-long shutdown, far beyond
- 3:24Speaker 3: what was originally agreed. Move over, landscapers, because sheep and
- 3:28Speaker 3: goats are the newest workers clearing invasive plants at an
- 3:32Speaker 3: Alexandria park. They're spending the next week or so eating
- 3:36Speaker 3: their way through unwanted vegetation at James Mark's All Veterans Park.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And Apple fans will soon have a new iPhone option.
- 3:45Speaker 3: The company unveiled its first ever foldable, the iPhone Duo,
- 3:49Speaker 3: along with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The
- 3:53Speaker 3: new phones are going to be hitting the stores September 18th.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Forecast for today, cloudy with some scattered showers later on,
- 4:02Speaker 3: highs around 90, right now 74 in Lorton.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Now that you've got some news, top stories at the
- 4:08Speaker 2: top of the hour with Toby and Chili in the
- 4:10Speaker 2: morning at 97.1 Wash FM. Stay there because we want
- 4:12Speaker 2: to talk about you and how you're doing this morning,
- 4:16Speaker 2: your morning mindset. Hopefully this quote might help you to
- 4:19Speaker 2: take on the day in a bigger and even better way.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Stay there if you need a little pick-me-up. It is
- 4:27Speaker 2: time now for your morning mindset at 97.1 Wash FM
- 4:31Speaker 2: with Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 4:32Speaker 3: This is where we find a quote and share it
- 4:34Speaker 3: with you to think about as you take on the
- 4:36Speaker 3: rest of the day, especially if you need some motivation
- 4:38Speaker 3: or inspiration.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Here comes Mary Shelley, who reminds us the beginning is
- 4:44Speaker 2: always today. Mary Shelley says the beginning is always today.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We spend a lot of time waiting. waiting for the
- 4:52Speaker 2: perfect moment to start. Maybe it'll start on Monday. Maybe
- 4:57Speaker 2: it'll start next month. Maybe when things calm down, maybe
- 5:00Speaker 2: when we're more ready. But I think Mary's point is
- 5:04Speaker 2: much simpler. You don't need a clean slate to make
- 5:07Speaker 2: a new start. You just need today. So whatever you've
- 5:10Speaker 2: been putting off, stop. You don't have to wait. Your
- 5:13Speaker 2: beginning can be today and it can start right now.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And actually that's the way it always is. Don't wait.
- 5:22Speaker 2: The beginning is always today. Mary Shelley. That's your morning
- 5:25Speaker 2: mindset for today. I hope that it helps. If you
- 5:28Speaker 2: need it again, hit us up. You can find our
- 5:30Speaker 2: emails and such on the Toby and Chili page at
- 5:32Speaker 2: washfm.com or message us on Insta, wherever you find us,
- 5:37Speaker 2: and we'll be happy to send it to you. Now
- 5:40Speaker 2: stay there because in just a bit with Toby and
- 5:42Speaker 2: Chili in the morning, we talking.
- 5:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Allison, one of our listeners from Fairfax has a question
- 5:48Speaker 3: about whether it's appropriate to date somebody in her child's life. Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 3: She's going to explain, and we definitely want to hear
- 5:58Speaker 3: your take on it, and you'll hear all about it
- 6:01Speaker 3: in just.
- 6:01Speaker 2: A 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and Chili in the morning
- 6:06Speaker 2: in Fairfax. Allison, welcome. I understand you have a bit
- 6:10Speaker 2: of a dilemma you're facing this morning.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I do.
- 6:13Speaker 5: So I want to know if this would be a
- 6:15Speaker 5: jerk move.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Wow, jerk is a very strong word. Go ahead, tell
- 6:19Speaker 3: us what's up.
- 6:20Speaker 5: So I had a parent-teacher conference with my son's teacher,
- 6:23Speaker 5: and he's hot. And there was a little flirting going on.
- 6:29Speaker 5: And he basically is interested in me. And I wouldn't
- 6:33Speaker 5: know if I would be a jerk if I dated
- 6:36Speaker 5: my son's teacher.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You're like that old school Van Halen song. Hot for teacher. Nope.
- 6:41Speaker 2: It's not a problem at all. Thanks for your call
- 6:43Speaker 2: this morning. Before we before.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Before we truly unpack this, what are your reservations about it? Well,
- 6:51Speaker 3: because it's his teacher.
- 6:52Speaker 5: I don't want to embarrass him. And then, you know,
- 6:55Speaker 5: what if he gets picked on? I mean, obviously we'd
- 6:57Speaker 5: have to be like on the down low.
- 6:59Speaker 2: That sounds like it would be fun and adventurous.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Okay. Would you keep it a secret from your son, though?
- 7:04Speaker 5: I would be honest with my son.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Can you hear that conversation now? Son, mommy has something
- 7:09Speaker 2: to tell you. She has some feels for your teacher.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Isn't that fun?
- 7:14Speaker 3: He's so cute.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Well, what is understood need not be discussed, ma'am.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Well, here's what I'll say about this, Allison. Are you
- 7:22Speaker 3: a jerk?
- 7:23Speaker 4: No.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Feelings are feelings. I think it's probably inappropriate, though. If
- 7:28Speaker 3: I were you, I would either have your son transferred
- 7:30Speaker 3: out of that teacher's class or just wait until the
- 7:33Speaker 3: end of the school year because there is a conflict
- 7:36Speaker 3: of interest here.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I don't know yes there is i think that might
- 7:40Speaker 2: be overthinking it a bit no i think if my
- 7:43Speaker 2: kids involved i don't want your feelings towards me to
- 7:46Speaker 2: get in the way in any way shape or form
- 7:49Speaker 2: and even though we're all adults things can happen plus
- 7:52Speaker 2: if it did get out lord they would be making
- 7:55Speaker 2: fun of that kid or saying oh no wonder you
- 7:57Speaker 2: got a good grade 866-927-4361. All right, Allison, you hang
- 8:03Speaker 2: on the line. We will pull the class and get
- 8:06Speaker 2: their take on your situation. You have some thoughts to share?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Call us now and let's see if we can't help
- 8:12Speaker 2: Allison out with this situation. In the meantime, hang out
- 8:16Speaker 2: for the news. Top stories at the top of the
- 8:18Speaker 2: hour right around 610 this morning. Chili, what's going on?
- 8:22Speaker 3: A new survey reveals just how important living in a
- 8:25Speaker 3: gated or secure neighborhood is for people. I'll share the
- 8:29Speaker 3: results coming up in just a few minutes.
- 8:32Speaker 2: A list dropped this week of the happiest places for
- 8:35Speaker 2: you to reside. It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili
- 8:40Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Hawaii is the happiest state based on things like unemployment,
- 8:45Speaker 3: income growth, and life expectancy.
- 8:48Speaker 2: And Maryland came in third. Fifth on the list. So, Marilyn,
- 8:53Speaker 2: good luck trying to take down Hawaii. They've kind of
- 8:58Speaker 2: got a weird, interesting island type unfair advantage. But you
- 9:01Speaker 2: know what? Fifth is not shabby in West Virginia. They
- 9:05Speaker 2: came in dead last.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Enough said. 97.1 Wash FM.
- 9:11Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington.
- 9:14Speaker 8: An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories, top of
- 9:17Speaker 8: the hour.
- 9:18Speaker 3: The president pledged $ 5, 000 checks to adults if the GOP
- 9:23Speaker 3: keeps Congress. We've got the latest on that story and
- 9:26Speaker 3: others on the way.
- 9:28Speaker 6: With Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 9:29Speaker 3: On 97.1 Wash FM.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 9:37Speaker 3: The president made a big promise at the RNC's midterm
- 9:41Speaker 3: convention in Dallas yesterday, a $ 5, 000 dividend to every American
- 9:46Speaker 3: adult if Republicans keep control of Congress in November. Now
- 9:49Speaker 3: he offered no further details on how the plan would
- 9:52Speaker 3: work or whether it's even legal. The first wrongful death
- 9:56Speaker 3: lawsuit has been filed over Sunday's deadly Amazon car jet
- 10:00Speaker 3: crash at Miami International Airport. The widow of one of
- 10:04Speaker 3: five workers killed is suing Amazon and 21 Air, alleging
- 10:07Speaker 3: severe negligence and pilot error. Five others were injured. A
- 10:12Speaker 3: 13-year-old bicyclist was killed after being hit by a truck
- 10:15Speaker 3: after school yesterday outside a shopping center in Fairfax. The
- 10:20Speaker 3: teen was a student at nearby Frost Middle School. Starting today,
- 10:24Speaker 3: drivers who speed through three Stafford County school zones could
- 10:28Speaker 3: face fines of up to $ 100. Cameras are going to
- 10:31Speaker 3: be catching drivers going 10 miles per hour over the
- 10:33Speaker 3: speed limit at Stafford Middle, Colonial Forge High School, and
- 10:37Speaker 3: Edward Drew Middle School. While the commanders get ready for
- 10:40Speaker 3: their season opener, work is ramping up on the team's
- 10:44Speaker 3: new stadium at the old RFK site. A job fair
- 10:46Speaker 3: yesterday connected local small businesses with construction opportunities with major
- 10:51Speaker 3: building work expected to begin next May. And a new
- 10:55Speaker 3: survey finds that half of Americans would pay above market
- 10:59Speaker 3: price for a home in a gated or secure entrance neighborhood.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Nearly 70% say they now have security cameras or doorbell camera.
- 11:08Speaker 3: And 8 in 10 say they monitor it constantly. Forecast
- 11:13Speaker 3: for today, cloudy skies with some scattered showers later this afternoon.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Highs around 90. Right now, 74 in Laurel.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Now that you've got the news, we'll tell you the
- 11:22Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour here at
- 11:24Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM Hangout. We're going to get back to
- 11:28Speaker 2: Allison in Fairfax and her dilemma. She was thinking she
- 11:33Speaker 2: might want to date her kid's teacher.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Thoughts?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Of course you have some.
- 11:39Speaker 5: 866-927-4361.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We'll see if we can't help her out in a few.
- 11:46Speaker 2: If you're just joining Toby and Chili in the morning
- 11:48Speaker 2: here at 97.1 Wash FM, let's bring you up to
- 11:51Speaker 2: speed on Allison from Fairfax and the dilemmas she's facing
- 11:55Speaker 2: that she needs some help with from us this morning.
- 11:58Speaker 3: So her son has a very, according to Allison, hot teacher.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Recent meeting, he expressed his interest and now she's wondering,
- 12:08Speaker 3: would she be a jerk for dating her son's teacher?
- 12:11Speaker 2: 866-927-4361. Let's see if we can't help Allison from Fairfax
- 12:17Speaker 2: out with her dilemma. Craig from Kensington, is she a
- 12:19Speaker 2: jerk for wanting to date her kid's teacher? I don't
- 12:22Speaker 2: think they're a jerk.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I feel like it would complicate the teacher-student relationship. And
- 12:27Speaker 3: what would your advice to her be then?
- 12:29Speaker 2: Keep that on the down low until May and then
- 12:32Speaker 2: go public with.
- 12:33Speaker 4: It once the teacher is not the kid's teacher anymore.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Thank you very much for the call this morning, Craig.
- 12:38Speaker 3: In Warrington, Shailene, thanks so much for listening. Now, you've
- 12:41Speaker 3: got an interesting perspective on this.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Oh my God, I have dealt with this myself. It
- 12:46Speaker 4: is so weird. It's a total no-no. Can you just
- 12:49Speaker 4: find somebody else that's not the person your child's teacher?
- 12:52Speaker 2: Affiliate frustration, but the heart wants what it wants.
- 12:55Speaker 3: That's true, Toby, but there are steps that can be
- 12:57Speaker 3: taken to prevent conflict of interest. Either the kid can
- 13:01Speaker 3: be removed from the class... Or mom waits until May.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Oh, my God. My mom thought my teacher was so hot.
- 13:08Speaker 4: You know, she thought he was cute. She would come volunteer,
- 13:11Speaker 4: semi flirting with him. And then she actually told me,
- 13:14Speaker 4: I was like, mom, please do not date my teacher.
- 13:17Speaker 4: And she ended up not dating him after, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 4: I kind of. Told her how I feel.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Right on, Shailene. Thank you for the call this morning.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Now, Allison, you've been hearing the feedback. It seems like
- 13:28Speaker 3: if you're going to go through with this, you really
- 13:30Speaker 3: have to be careful, but perhaps avoid it altogether.
- 13:33Speaker 8: No!
- 13:35Speaker 2: To me, your situation doesn't pass the pancakes on Saturday
- 13:39Speaker 2: morning test.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yep, that's when the kid comes downstairs and sees you
- 13:43Speaker 2: at the kitchen table having pancakes on a Saturday morning
- 13:46Speaker 2: and he's a little freaked out by it. You know,
- 13:48Speaker 2: mommy and teacher early on a Saturday morning.
- 13:51Speaker 3: K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, that would be awkward for both of us.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:56Speaker 2: So what do you think you're going to do?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Are you sure you won't?
- 13:59Speaker 2: Until May and school's out. Have a great day and
- 14:08Speaker 2: good luck, Allison. It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili
- 14:12Speaker 2: in the morning hang out because the TSA is doing
- 14:15Speaker 2: something that they've not done since before 9-11. Let's talk
- 14:20Speaker 2: about it. The big idea this morning at 97.1 Wash
- 14:24Speaker 2: FM with Toby and Chili in the morning is that
- 14:26Speaker 2: the TSA is experimenting with bringing back something air travel
- 14:30Speaker 2: lost after 9-11, letting some non-ticketed people go through security
- 14:35Speaker 2: checks To meet loved ones or to hang with loved
- 14:38Speaker 2: ones at the gate while they're either coming in or
- 14:41Speaker 2: flying out. For seasoned travelers, this feels less like a
- 14:46Speaker 2: gimmick and more like restoring something we used to have.
- 14:50Speaker 2: It's bringing some humanity back to flying.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Now, you have to have TSA PreCheck and a known
- 14:56Speaker 3: traveler number. You can apply for it online for free.
- 15:00Speaker 3: The Gateside Pass, by the way, is available only one
- 15:03Speaker 3: to three days before you visit and only valid on
- 15:07Speaker 3: that approved date. Now, this is a pre-9-11 thing, so
- 15:10Speaker 3: there are lots of listeners who were not even alive
- 15:14Speaker 3: when we used to be able to do this back
- 15:16Speaker 3: in the day.
- 15:17Speaker 6: I will say.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I don't even know if I would take advantage of
- 15:21Speaker 3: this that often. Yes, with my son, of course I would.
- 15:24Speaker 3: As he gets older, I would want to be there
- 15:26Speaker 3: to send him off at the gate and certainly to
- 15:29Speaker 3: meet him when he arrives from college. And I've missed
- 15:32Speaker 3: him so much. But I'm totally cool with dropping somebody
- 15:36Speaker 3: off curbside, too. Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 2: TSA is testing this at 13 different airports right now.
- 15:41Speaker 2: None of them are in the DMV yet. But I
- 15:44Speaker 2: got to tell you, I'm for this because as somebody
- 15:46Speaker 2: who used to travel a lot more than I do
- 15:48Speaker 2: right now, anything that makes an airport more human to
- 15:52Speaker 2: me is a good thing.
- 15:55Speaker 3: You say that, but I really can't imagine you're going
- 15:57Speaker 3: to park your car and go inside every time you
- 16:00Speaker 3: send off a passenger.
- 16:02Speaker 8: I know.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I think so. You know, I mean, frequent flyers, I
- 16:05Speaker 2: think they know the pain of going to the gates
- 16:09Speaker 2: and having to say goodbye to family either out front
- 16:13Speaker 2: when you'd like to spend a few last minutes with
- 16:15Speaker 2: the family. You know, it's less cold and less mechanical.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe that's just me. If you want
- 16:20Speaker 2: to read more about it, get to the Toby and
- 16:21Speaker 2: Tilly page at watchfm.com. And if you've got thoughts, tap
- 16:25Speaker 2: the talkback microphone and tell us what you think about
- 16:28Speaker 2: this new, but not so new, idea from the TSA.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning, hang out for the news.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour, right around
- 16:36Speaker 2: 7.10 this morning. What's going on?
- 16:38Speaker 3: Grandma and grandpa are busier than you think. Coming up,
- 16:41Speaker 3: the surprising number of hours that today's grandparents are putting
- 16:45Speaker 3: into childcare.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Usher and Chris Brown. It's called the R & B Tour.
- 16:51Speaker 2: See what they did there. M & T Bank Stadium, October.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 16:57Speaker 2: And we would love to send you to the show
- 17:00Speaker 2: in just minutes.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Right around 7.10 after Toby and Chili's top stories. We'll

- 20:10Speaker 6: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Thursday morning, Chili Hiss with that question again. Some people
- 20:15Speaker 2: might have missed it.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Well, 59% of people say going here stresses them out.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Where is it?

- 20:31Speaker 2: What is your name and where are you from this morning,
- 20:33Speaker 2: por favor?
- 20:34Speaker 6: Hi, this is Corey. Call us from Washington, D.C.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Hey, Corey, I remember you. You tried earlier this week.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Welcome back. Yes, I'm going to keep trying until I
- 20:43Speaker 2: get them.
- 20:43Speaker 6: Thank you so much.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Well, what's your guess? You got the question.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 20:47Speaker 6: I'm going to say the doctor's office.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Okay, I can understand why you think that would stress
- 20:51Speaker 3: people out. I don't want to stress you out. That
- 20:53Speaker 3: is not the correct answer today, but you still have
- 20:57Speaker 3: one more chance because you get to play again tomorrow, okay?
- 21:00Speaker 5: I'm going to talk to you tomorrow morning.
- 21:01Speaker 2: All right, then. Call early, call often, and good luck,

- 21:12Speaker 2: Welcome, Nikki from Gaithersburg. You've got the question, what is
- 21:15Speaker 2: your guess?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Is it the airport? Does going to the airport stress
- 21:18Speaker 3: you out by any chance?
- 21:20Speaker 8: My husband more than myself, but yes.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Because it stresses Chili out big time. She has to
- 21:25Speaker 2: take multiple meds and such. No, no, no, that's flying.
- 21:27Speaker 3: The airport itself doesn't stress me out.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, she just hangs out at the bar to get
- 21:31Speaker 2: herself good and ready to go on that flight to wherever.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I show up early so I don't have to be
- 21:36Speaker 3: stressed out.
- 21:36Speaker 2: That's right, so she can spend more time forgetting about
- 21:39Speaker 2: the fact that she's going to fly because it's stressful.
- 21:42Speaker 3: That's an excellent guess, Nikki. And 59% of people say
- 21:46Speaker 3: going to the airport stresses them out. So you're right.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And that means you're going to fly up 95 to
- 21:54Speaker 2: M & T Bank Stadium to see Usher and Chris
- 21:56Speaker 2: Brown in October. Tickets are yours. Congratulations.
- 22:00Speaker 8: Thank you so much.

- 22:19Speaker 3: Coming up next, you know, the NFL season kicked off
- 22:23Speaker 3: last night. Well, we got an interesting talkback message from
- 22:26Speaker 3: somebody who is posing a question to the rest of
- 22:30Speaker 3: us about the NFL season.
- 22:32Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning. Football
- 22:37Speaker 2: started again in earnest last night. Patriots crossed the country
- 22:40Speaker 2: to take on the Seattle Seahawks. Listen to this talk
- 22:44Speaker 2: back that we got left. His name is Mike. He
- 22:46Speaker 2: lives in Centerville. I listen to this show every single
- 22:49Speaker 2: day and I have a debate for you guys. Agree
- 22:52Speaker 2: or disagree. I think that NFL is absolutely killing football
- 22:57Speaker 2: by having games being played every single day during the week.
- 23:01Speaker 2: It's ridiculous. Now everybody chime in. I want to see
- 23:04Speaker 2: what you guys think.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Let me know if I have an unpopular opinion or not,
- 23:07Speaker 3: but yeah, that's how I feel.
- 23:08Speaker 2: First of all, Mike, thank you for tapping the talk
- 23:10Speaker 2: back microphone and for listening to us on your I
- 23:14Speaker 2: heart app. Now let's break this down. First of all,
- 23:17Speaker 2: they're not playing football every day of the week, but
- 23:20Speaker 2: it is, in my opinion, a lot. Do you know
- 23:23Speaker 2: how much stress I had to go through on Wednesday
- 23:26Speaker 2: after a day full of meetings and then other appointments
- 23:29Speaker 2: and whatnot, and then to get home and have to
- 23:31Speaker 2: manage my fantasy team and put in picks and and
- 23:35Speaker 2: make some moves so that my fantasy team doesn't completely
- 23:38Speaker 2: implode in week one. That was too much stress. Nobody
- 23:41Speaker 2: has time for that. Not last night.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Well, then get ready for tonight. 49ers at Rams. So
- 23:47Speaker 3: there's another game that you can be watching. And then,
- 23:50Speaker 3: of course, Sunday and Monday. Look, I hear what you're saying.
- 23:54Speaker 3: It's really hard with our schedules to stay up and
- 23:57Speaker 3: watch games weeknights.
- 24:00Speaker 8: But.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Other sports, baseball, especially hockey, I.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Mean, multiple days of the.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Week you're watching games. I'm okay with it kind of
- 24:11Speaker 3: being spread out instead of being concentrated on just one
- 24:16Speaker 3: or two days of the week.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Hopefully it's just a one week thing and it calms
- 24:20Speaker 2: down a bit for week two, but week one's been
- 24:23Speaker 2: hectic and we're not even through the week yet. Anyway,
- 24:27Speaker 2: do you have thoughts?
- 24:29Speaker 4: 866-927-4361.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Too much football? Yes or no? The debate is on.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Call now and speak your truth. 866-927-4361. But we've got
- 24:39Speaker 2: to get to some news first. Top stories at the
- 24:41Speaker 2: top of the hour, right around 810. Here's what you
- 24:44Speaker 2: can expect.
- 24:45Speaker 3: A new study revealed the most expensive states to own
- 24:49Speaker 3: a car in. Tell you where Maryland and Virginia landed
- 24:53Speaker 3: on that list. Coming up.
- 24:56Speaker 2: People are very, very moved by this tree and its plight.
- 25:00Speaker 3: It's one of the trees that unfortunately fell during the
- 25:03Speaker 3: recent storm. And the stump is still there and people
- 25:07Speaker 3: are leaving notes on it. Maybe you can swing by and.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I guess do the same today.
- 25:11Speaker 2: It's become quite the thing. And if you want to
- 25:14Speaker 2: see more, check out our Insta. You'll find us. We're
- 25:18Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning at 97.1.

- 25:41Speaker 3: and Chili in the morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.
- 25:47Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 25:49Speaker 3: The president made a big promise at the RNC's midterm
- 25:53Speaker 3: convention in Dallas yesterday, a $ 5, 000 check to every American
- 25:58Speaker 3: adult if Republicans keep control of Congress in November. Now,
- 26:03Speaker 3: there were no details offered on how the plan would
- 26:05Speaker 3: work or whether it's even legal. The first wrongful death
- 26:09Speaker 3: lawsuit has been filed over Sunday's deadly Amazon cargo jet
- 26:13Speaker 3: crash at Miami International Airport. The widow of one of
- 26:16Speaker 3: the five workers who were killed is suing Amazon and
- 26:18Speaker 3: 21 Air, alleging severe negligence and pilot error. Five others
- 26:23Speaker 3: were injured. A 13-year-old bicyclist was killed after being hit
- 26:27Speaker 3: by a truck after school yesterday outside a shopping center
- 26:30Speaker 3: in Fairfax. The teen was a student at nearby Frost
- 26:34Speaker 3: Middle School. Maryland's Supreme Court has ruled against Tanya Sweat's
- 26:39Speaker 3: bid to run for Prince George's County executive as an
- 26:42Speaker 3: unaffiliated candidate, upholding the election board's finding that she lacked
- 26:47Speaker 3: enough valid signatures. Now, Sweat says she now plans to
- 26:51Speaker 3: run as a write in. The Washington Capitals are marking
- 26:54Speaker 3: America's 250th anniversary with a special jersey auction. The jersey
- 27:00Speaker 3: blends revolutionary era printmaking with six stars honoring the branches
- 27:05Speaker 3: of the U.S. Armed Forces and bidding on it opens
- 27:08Speaker 3: October 6th. And finally, according to a recent study, vehicle
- 27:12Speaker 3: upkeep is now costing Americans an average of nearly $ 5, 900
- 27:17Speaker 3: a year. And where you live makes a big difference
- 27:20Speaker 3: in insurance, gas and maintenance costs. Georgia tops the list
- 27:25Speaker 3: as the most expensive state at over $ 7, 600 a year.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And Maryland comes in a close second at $ 7, 100 a year.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Forecast today, cloudy skies with some scattered showers later this afternoon.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Highs around 90. Right now, 76 in Falls Church.
- 27:42Speaker 2: And that's the news. Top stories at the top of
- 27:44Speaker 2: the hour. It's 97.1. Seattle Seahawks fans are overjoyed this
- 27:51Speaker 2: morning because football is back and they beat the Patriots
- 27:53Speaker 2: last night. But while football is back and that's great.
- 27:57Speaker 2: It's everywhere. It's Wednesday night. It's Thursday night. It's all
- 28:01Speaker 2: day Sunday and Monday. At some point, does this make
- 28:05Speaker 2: football less special? At 820, we want to know if
- 28:10Speaker 2: the NFL is giving us too much of a good
- 28:12Speaker 2: thing because there's probably a point where football can become
- 28:15Speaker 2: background noise. We're talking about it. Is all of this
- 28:19Speaker 2: football bad for the sports? Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 28:23Speaker 2: The debate is on at 97.1 Watch FM. Join the
- 28:27Speaker 2: conversation at 866-927-4361.
- 28:29Speaker 3: The debate was brought forth by a talkback message we received. Now,
- 28:33Speaker 3: the football season started last night. We have another game tonight.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Of course, there's Sunday night and Monday night. And he
- 28:39Speaker 3: was saying that it's just ruined the sport too many days.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Tim and Damascus, you seem to agree. Yeah, there's too
- 28:47Speaker 2: much football.
- 28:48Speaker 3: How so, though? Other sports play multiple days of the week.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, what makes it different than, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 4: baseball and basketball.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Now there seems like games every day or something like that.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know. There's just too much.
- 29:01Speaker 3: So you want to stick to the OG two nights
- 29:03Speaker 3: a week?
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's enough for me.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Just Monday, Sunday.
- 29:07Speaker 2: That's enough for me. You shouldn't be every day. Right on, Tim.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Thank you. Now in Falls Church, Katrina.
- 29:14Speaker 7: I don't think there's enough football on television. I think
- 29:17Speaker 7: there's a great amount of football. I'm going to say
- 29:21Speaker 7: that there's the right amount of football.
- 29:22Speaker 3: So you think you could actually watch all those games?
- 29:25Speaker 7: I could definitely do a Thursday through Sunday as like
- 29:28Speaker 7: the perfect amount of programming.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Right. How many teams are you paying attention to?
- 29:32Speaker 7: I have more than one team because I move around.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Right?
- 29:36Speaker 2: Me too. And I have a lot of teams that
- 29:39Speaker 2: are my squad, but there's one that stands above all others.
- 29:42Speaker 2: What would that be for you? I love the Commanders.
- 29:46Speaker 7: I grew up watching what they used to be called,
- 29:49Speaker 7: but I also am a huge same thing because I
- 29:52Speaker 7: used to live in New Orleans for a long time.
- 29:54Speaker 2: You saw Stevie Wonder in town for Jazz Fest, and
- 29:57Speaker 2: while he was performing at DC Jazz Fest, he dropped
- 30:01Speaker 2: this on everyone.
- 30:02Speaker 3: He is going to be in D.C. Capital One Arena

- 30:49Speaker 3: Now, before we leave, we want to share with you
- 30:52Speaker 3: a quote to hopefully get you to a good morning mindset.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Mary Shelley says, the beginning is always today. Whatever you've
- 31:02Speaker 2: been putting off, whatever it is, changing, fixing, maybe finally
- 31:06Speaker 2: choosing something for yourself. You don't have to wait for
- 31:09Speaker 2: some magical day in the future. You don't have to
- 31:11Speaker 2: wait till Monday gets here. Your beginning can be today.
- 31:16Speaker 2: It always is today. Mary Shelley, the beginning is always today.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So keep that in mind and start new if you
