- 0:00Of what the Gamal talks about, Hasidou doesn't directly say the
- 0:04word Hasidou, but what it says is each rabbi was asked what you
- 0:08do, what was your item to help you live a long life and all
- 0:13gave different answers. And our point is that each one
- 0:16is that the rabbi took a certain topic and he took it all the
- 0:19way. It was his passion.
- 0:20So the example we tell yesterday was what Rabbi said.
- 0:23I never enjoyed my friend's embarrassment.
- 0:27Someone said joke about my friend in my presence.
- 0:30I didn't laugh, I didn't pile on, I didn't make him feel
- 0:34better. An item.
- 0:35That's a tough one. And that's his thing.
- 0:37That's his rabble. He told me about an Amora rabble
- 0:39from the Gemara who probably that's his idol and that was his
- 0:44idol. He was careful and sensitive in
- 0:46that area and that became who called his passion.
- 0:49And that's why he married a long life.
- 0:51A few more. Another one on 347.
- 0:55My fellow's cursed. Never climbed with me into my
- 1:02bed. Now, what does that mean?
- 1:04Before he went to sleep around the bottom, before he went to
- 1:07sleep every night, he wished well on everybody.
- 1:10You know, we have in our Karachi, Malamita, we forgive
- 1:13people every single night. All right?
- 1:20I am forgiving anyone who upset me, who angered me every single
- 1:24night we say that. That's a reality for all of us.
- 1:28Why do we say that every single night?
- 1:29Because we don't want other people to have to suffer because
- 1:32of us. We do not want ourselves to be
- 1:35caring and harming other people. I know people wronged us.
- 1:38I know they don't have a right and deserve to just be rolling
- 1:41in life while they mess us over. I'm not understand that.
- 1:44But we don't want at the same time us to be the source under
- 1:47and the reason that they have problems in life.
- 1:50Nobody wants that. OK, so he says every single
- 1:53month. And this rabbi is saying I was
- 1:55sincere every night when I said it, I was real.
- 1:59Some people, you know, you play lip service to this concept.
- 2:02I actually meant it. It's hard to mean.
- 2:05It's hard to really wish well on the entire Rd.
- 2:09There's always a guy out there who messed you over as it being
- 2:12business. Block your driveway did
- 2:15something to you, something severe.
- 2:18So you're small. I stole big money from you,
- 2:20stole money from you. So I I can't help to have a
- 2:23smile on my face when I see something bad happening, right?
- 2:26I agree, it's very difficult. This is a lot of work.
- 2:29This is a lifetime doer. But I understand.
- 2:33I'm not saying you're normal. I'm not saying you're not
- 2:35normal, but I am saying the goal, the goal is to have a
- 2:40sense that I'm good with everyone.
- 2:42I don't wish any well, anybody, for example, dare Mara Katve.
- 2:51Firstly, he never reads the story.
- 2:53I'm reading the words. There was a rabbi who was
- 2:56cowering a spade in his shoulder.
- 3:02A rabbi came and attempted to help a mother of when I told
- 3:05him, if you're used to carrying this thing, carrying my spade,
- 3:12the love. If you're not used to carrying
- 3:14such a tool, don't. I don't want to be the one that
- 3:18causes you Bouchard. I know you see a rabbi carrying
- 3:20something and you want to step in.
- 3:22Don't do it. Just my sake.
- 3:24Only if he's doing am I going to allow you to carry and you see a
- 3:27rabbi carrying a bunch of packages.
- 3:29It looks IE, but it looks like Azit, you want to help him.
- 3:32The rabbi would say in this example, I'm only allowing you
- 3:36to help me if you're used to doing so.
- 3:38You know, I used to doing so I'm not allowing you.
- 3:41I don't want to be stressful. I don't want you to embarrass
- 3:44yourself or didn't degrade yourself for myself.
- 3:48That is the way Rabbi is saying I do.
- 3:50I am not willing to allow somebody else to get any
- 3:54disrespect for my own sake. Now you'd say the guy is doing
- 3:58him. It's far from me.
- 3:59He's giving the rabbi kavod. True, but this rabbi wasn't
- 4:02willing to even accept kavod if it meant another person being
- 4:09diminished even the slightest bit.
- 4:10Now this is a high level and nobody is saying it has to be
- 4:13across the board. What did you say that cop What
- 4:15said that Conde can English things say that cop because you
- 4:18don't want to harm the other guy's funds?
- 4:21No, that's not embarrassment. That's the difference has to be
- 4:25the other person is doing an act.
- 4:27It's someone embarrassing. So the guy is a beautiful thing
- 4:30and therefore there's nothing wrong with giving it actually
- 4:32better. But they gotta give right?
- 4:34That's what it means. Hayesh Avapi, you have in this
- 4:38example, even though this is not really embarrassing a guy
- 4:41helping a rabbi's not embarrassing.
- 4:43Shamashmo dekund javido, when we said before the rabbi stated I
- 4:47would not allow myself to enjoy someone else's embarrassment.
- 4:51We said the better example is laughing with so make funny a
- 4:55friend, not allowing someone to carry a package for you who are
- 4:59Misha de la Bazzot Javido? The real example of enjoying
- 5:05someone else's embarrassment is enjoying someone else's real
- 5:07embarrassment. Not this case.
- 5:09This rabbi was so sensitive to the concept, he wouldn't even
- 5:13allow somebody else to get embarrassed at the slightest.
- 5:16And the idea for all of us is let's take this example as our
- 5:20example. Be very careful for all the
- 5:24people around you. Make sure and no one's getting
- 5:27embarrassed or hurt, even inadvertently.
- 5:30It's one thing not to say anything negative to another
- 5:33person. It's one thing not say anything
- 5:35negative about another person, but it's a whole another level
- 5:39to be conscious about other people getting hurt in the
- 5:43process. There are many good people out
- 5:45there who would never say derogatory term, who would never
- 5:49put someone down. What about kidding?
- 5:52But they but be careful. But they would allow you're
- 5:55kidding them up, right? They would allow someone say
- 5:58something in their presence and they laugh, they'd smile, they'd
- 6:01enjoy it. His rabbi, his passion, his
- 6:04life's work was don't allow that to happen in my presence.
- 6:08I don't want to be the 'cause you know, there's damage and
- 6:12then there's a cause of damage. There's hurting a person and
- 6:15there's hurting and there's about causing another person to
- 6:17hurt. I always say this, the worst guy
- 6:20in the room. When insults fly, negative
- 6:25comments go ashore. What happens?
- 6:28Who's the worst guy in the room? The third party, the guy who is
- 6:32there on the side, who's laughing along, who's nodding
- 6:35his head, who's absorbing, who's actually probably doesn't
- 6:39realize it. He's probably adding fuel to his
- 6:41fire by being there. That guy is the worst guy
- 6:44because he is the reason. Often and the words I even said,
- 6:47they're saying and because they want to hang the left, they're
- 6:49saying because they want to hear you, how you react.
- 6:52And you have to be conscious of that.
- 6:53If you were part of the picture, you have to make sure you're not
- 6:58allowing it to pile on. And that's a level of
- 7:02recognition of the cavort of other people.
- 7:05How far do other people cavort go?
- 7:08It goes all the way to the fact they want to make sure and
- 7:12nobody is hurt or my presence. Nobody is hurt because of my
- 7:16presence, right? That means I'll give you an
- 7:18example. A Hashouf person is going to go
- 7:22visit a certain place and there's ready a Hashou person
- 7:25there. An important person is going to
- 7:28visit a, I don't know, visit Hanukkarta Bait Zohar, a small
- 7:34garden is right and there's ready.
- 7:38Let's say you're having a Hanukkarta Bait.
- 7:40There's 12 people that come to Hanukkarta Bait, right?
- 7:43The uncles and brother in laws has to hold you and you invite a
- 7:46rabbit and you invite another rabbit.
- 7:49All rabbis have to be conscious. If there's another rabbi there,
- 7:54I'm there, another guy's there. I have to be conscious.
- 7:56I can't steal the show. Well, he's there.
- 7:59He can't steal the show. Well, I'm there and he has to be
- 8:01careful of what he's causing to me if he's not conscious.
- 8:05I was once by a Hanukkah by it, and they told me beforehand.
- 8:12Rabbi, can you please? No, it's a Zod.
- 8:15Rabbi, can you please leave the Zod to my rabbi?
- 8:17Did OK. Another guy in the shoe.
- 8:20I come to the Zod in the middle. Someone walks in.
- 8:25Who walks in? I just need someone out of the
- 8:28rabbi. Hamid Tak yourself was in
- 8:31America. God's dying, right?
- 8:33And he was still chief Rabbi and he walked in and he obviously
- 8:36was the king of the show. But he made sure, and I noticed
- 8:40this, he made sure to agree with me.
- 8:43He has no ham and no clue ham. I look like another guy, but
- 8:46he's agree with the proper attention, if I remember
- 8:48correctly, because you have to be conscious.
- 8:50There's another rabbi sitting there.
- 8:51I'm nothing compared to something like that.
- 8:54Another element is sitting there, but you still need to be
- 8:56conscious. He's there.
- 8:58He probably gave up with his night.
- 9:00He probably risked his class and all those things for the sake Be
- 9:04conscious, be careful and recognize his existence.
- 9:07It's true with rabbis and it's true to anybody.
- 9:10If you're sitting here, you know, you're a little Lenny.
- 9:12Go pay respects. There's someone there, and then
- 9:15you all came and you have relationships.
- 9:17So you basically just turn toward you.
- 9:20Be careful. The other guy took time from his
- 9:22day and he cares and he's there too, right?
- 9:25These are actually both examples.
- 9:27Happened to me yesterday. That's what they come.
- 9:28Into my mind that's happened to me and it felt uncomfortable to
- 9:31me. I sitting there in the front and
- 9:34he's they're talking to me in the 2nd row.
- 9:36Yeah. So what do you do?
- 9:37You have to be always thinking about the people in room and try
- 9:41to either turn towards them as you're talking to the bill, do a
- 9:45trick that basically pulls people in because if you're
- 9:48recognizing the whole room and you're reading the whole room,
- 9:52you want to keep the whole room happy.
- 9:54It's a very difficult life to live, actually.
- 9:56It's actually an overly sense of likely, but it's a real 1.
- 10:01You didn't come to make that person feel good and make the
- 10:05people around you not feel good. If that wasn't your goal.
- 10:07Your goal is to make the people there, everyone feel proper.
- 10:11So you don't want to hurt anybody you had.
- 10:13That thing in your backyard, you probably went over to everybody,
- 10:17right? Right.
- 10:17Yes. And that, yeah, in fact, I very
- 10:19much do. I just.
- 10:20Want to have my family over my grandkids.
- 10:22I make sure I pay attention to everyone.
- 10:24Yeah. You know, it's a big quarter
- 10:25though. It's a big thing.
- 10:26You know what happens when you do that?
- 10:28People are happy to be there. Yeah.
- 10:30Someone asked. In fact my wife asked me.
- 10:33To your point, why do you think people were happy?
- 10:35I had a middle of get together for the families and my backyard
- 10:38is passing up the man and honor my baby.
- 10:42Why do you think people are happy?
- 10:43I said, I think I hope because we tried to make them
- 10:47comfortable and because we wasn't all about, you know, T
- 10:51owing all those words and all that sort of, you know, greedy
- 10:54one person, not another person. There's no, you know, one
- 10:57speaker that stole the show and stuff like that.
- 10:59You know, you have to be cognizant.
- 11:02I give another example. You make a share of it and you
- 11:06can't have everyone speak too much speeches.
- 11:08So you have one person's speech and that one person is not does
- 11:13not recognize the fact that there are many people in this
- 11:15room. And you know what?
- 11:17There are many people who are behind the chevre hood.
- 11:19And again, many people who gave up their night with the chevre
- 11:22hood, many families got the babysitter and all these things
- 11:25to figure it out. If you don't recognize that and
- 11:29you ignore half the room, half the room was in a walk away
- 11:32saying, yeah, it didn't feel so good.
- 11:34This Hannah is all flat. Why did I do that?
- 11:37Why did I come here? You know, right, This is life.
- 11:39He doesn't even. And that's called recognizing
- 11:42the room around him. And this robber's example, he
- 11:45made sure to avoid enjoying someone else's embarrassment,
- 11:48which means make sure to be conscious every person's
- 11:51feeling. I just opened up a job can yaze.
- 11:54I'm not abuserrar me, am I? Look, Badi, but talk about tea.
- 12:04Two major items already. Lloyd Baldi.
- 12:08We talk Petit. This is probably a lifetime job
- 12:11and a year's worth of a class. What is this like?
- 12:15I never was mug beat in my home. Literally the meaning is I never
- 12:22was particular about something that happened in my home.
- 12:26I'll give you multiple examples. For example, the class is 1.
- 12:29They always tell you, you come home, you're ready for dinner
- 12:32after a long day of work. And you're right.
- 12:34You might bring the soup, right? The line that they think men say
- 12:38and no man says this anymore. They think men say, come, come
- 12:42on, honey, why do you burn the soup?
- 12:44You ever heard of men say that in your life?
- 12:46No man says that and stays married or no man says about the
- 12:48stays in the house you want to live, you don't stay in that,
- 12:50right? They don't say those lines, but
- 12:53that's the line they give you as an example.
- 12:54But the truth is there are many people who don't verbalize those
- 12:58words that clearly just got to burn your head.
- 13:01Yeah, yeah. OK.
- 13:02But they have another way of getting that point across,
- 13:04right? That's an example, an extreme
- 13:06example, an example of Iqbal di Bitakmati.
- 13:10That means there are many good people out there who when they
- 13:14come home, they show frustration towards certain areas.
- 13:19Certain people who will never show any disappointment to
- 13:21anyone around but to their children that show
- 13:24disappointment. Certain husbands who will never
- 13:26show any anger to anyone around but they have a way of showing
- 13:31to the wife that they don't have any patience.
- 13:33These different medoth that come out in our home are examples of
- 13:38this concept called Hikpati Petoch Peti.
- 13:42I was particular in my house. I got nervous over things in my
- 13:48home and the rabbi is saying my lifetime mission that we have
- 13:51many of these examples. My lifetime mission is to avoid
- 13:54that. One of the worst me daughter
- 13:56person can have is they call him Matil Emma to create fear on his
- 14:02home. What does it mean?
- 14:04Create fear on his home? That means his wife is nervous.
- 14:08Life is nervous to say something 'cause he might jump.
- 14:11He's nervous, says something 'cause she might jump.
- 14:14That's Matthew, Emma, Matiola, Ramiz.
- 14:17You have a certain tenseness and you create because you have
- 14:23create tendency. You create because you don't.
- 14:27You're very particular. When someone says something, you
- 14:29jump and say why do you say that?
- 14:30What do you mean by that? Come on, how could you say that?
- 14:33These reactions, we're certainly speaking our reactions, or they
- 14:36do is they create a cloud over the home.
- 14:40But the husband and wife cannot be real with each other.
- 14:43Now we all know if we ever were too real, we got a real, you
- 14:47know, back in our face. But you can't be too real.
- 14:50I understand you can't just be, you know, everything comes to
- 14:52your mind and you say. But to apply a sense of fear and
- 15:00a sense of particularness is a terrible me doubt because it
- 15:06means that people around you are nervous in your presence.
- 15:10And what that does, it creates a ya, a fear as it was special.
- 15:15There's only one to fear in the world, and that's God.
- 15:19There's nobody else we should be afraid of, and we shouldn't be
- 15:22creating fear in the presence of anyone else.
- 15:24I don't care if you're a parent, a a father, a husband, a wife
- 15:30that matter as well a rabbi. I don't care if you're a
- 15:33community leader and I'm making them as who you are.
- 15:36The sense that you have a right to create fear in other people
- 15:40is nothing more than gava gava gava.
- 15:45It's all made-up arrogance. And this rabbi made sure that no
- 15:49one was afraid of him. No one was afraid.
- 15:51Of him, hey. No one was afraid of him.
- 15:53Why should people be afraid of you?
- 15:54Who are you? Who are we in?
- 15:55The old days, they were afraid. That wasn't the you were afraid
- 15:58of the hate to you, no days you're afraid of the hate.
- 16:00My father was something called but the father was something
- 16:04called respect in that sense, but the fear, the tenseness to
- 16:09might be the angry. That's all nonsense.
- 16:12That type of fear of sketch. Go stop this.
