- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I'm Anna, singer of the band Anna.
- 0:06Speaker 3: I'm the lead singer.
- 0:08Speaker 4: The only singer and the only.
- 0:15Speaker 3: I'm Josh and I played guitar Banana.
- 0:19Speaker 5: I'm Mark. Hell yeah, I play keys in Enna.
- 0:24Speaker 2: He just recently started.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Oh no, it's very nice.
- 0:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I just have the bend this year.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Oh and we've got one more.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And god here, yeah, we've got made. How are you?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us? Yeah it works, Oh.
- 0:39Speaker 7: My god, perfect background, perfect, Thanks for coming in.
- 0:45Speaker 6: No worries, no, right, So Adam had been pretty busy
- 0:48Speaker 6: of late, but we'll start off with the next festival
- 0:50Speaker 6: date the band's got, which is Rockdale Metal Festival on
- 0:53Speaker 6: September twenty seven, so it's not far away now.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It goes with the home starting to kick here. It
- 0:58Speaker 1: looks like a pretty good festival.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so excited and also it's our first time and
- 1:05Speaker 2: gonna play in Sydney and first time in festival in Sydney.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we're just.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So excited and.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Looking forward.
- 1:20Speaker 8: Yes that's the word.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 6: It's a great festival as twelve bands including yourselves, as Heretic, Alficium,
- 1:28Speaker 6: Nobody's Full, shock Wave and more. But it's gotta be
- 1:30Speaker 6: a good feeling for you guys to headline an Australian festival, like,
- 1:34Speaker 6: especially with the amount of talented bands during the realms.
- 1:36Speaker 1: At the moment, we were.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Just like, I was so.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Shocked when we received the post and we were on top,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and I was like, oh that feels good and scary
- 1:54Speaker 2: the same time. The pressure yeah basically right, yeah, so
- 2:01Speaker 2: excited all the meeting everybody. Yeah, it's going to be great.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Cool. It's been a huge year already, Frandon.
- 2:08Speaker 6: We started with nine headline shows across Germany, Poland, Czech Republic,
- 2:12Speaker 6: Slovakia and Hungary back in January, So how are those shows?
- 2:18Speaker 4: Europe was really interesting because that was a slightly different lineup.
- 2:24Speaker 3: We currently have Cody over there.
- 2:27Speaker 4: He's currently the bass player, but in Europe he was
- 2:29Speaker 4: the keyboard player okay.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And it just we didn't have a full lineup.
- 2:38Speaker 4: We needed someone to play keys, and Cody took on
- 2:41Speaker 4: the possible task of learning how to play keys.
- 2:44Speaker 3: In six months.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Wow, nice work, brother, nice way. The European market like
- 2:51Speaker 6: the band like they traditionally like Loss Evans. But how
- 2:54Speaker 6: do you guys go down over there?
- 2:59Speaker 4: Our biggest prize is that we have quite a decent
- 3:03Speaker 4: fan base in Budapese, Okay, which we didn't know about
- 3:08Speaker 4: until we turned up.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Nice fighters.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a nice surprise to get there and
- 3:14Speaker 4: see the club four and people coming up to you
- 3:16Speaker 4: saying they know the songs, which we had no idea about,
- 3:19Speaker 4: which was really cool.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yes. How different of the crowns over there in Europe? Like,
- 3:24Speaker 1: are they like Australia?
- 3:25Speaker 6: Are they sort of in your face and loud or
- 3:28Speaker 6: they stand off a bit more?
- 3:30Speaker 4: No, I would say Europe's pretty similar to here. We
- 3:34Speaker 4: went to Japan in April. That was a bit of
- 3:36Speaker 4: a you know, difference in culture. Yeah, they're a bit
- 3:41Speaker 4: of a mixed bag. They tend to keep pretty quiet,
- 3:44Speaker 4: and when you finish a song, they keep quiet to
- 3:47Speaker 4: make sure you really have finished before they clap. Yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 4: and they kind of make you think, like did I
- 3:53Speaker 4: fuck up do something wrong.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's a whole different world over there.
- 3:57Speaker 6: I opened over with a few different bands and it's
- 4:00Speaker 6: a great music environment over there. But their clubs are
- 4:03Speaker 6: twenty or thirty people in some of them. In the
- 4:04Speaker 6: life house is early small, but yeah, cred a lot
- 4:07Speaker 6: of energy.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it changed a lot from city to city, and
- 4:11Speaker 4: Japan was fun for us. Too, because Mark that's when
- 4:14Speaker 4: he joined the band officially doing the tour, so we
- 4:18Speaker 4: had one rehearsal with him in Tokyo before we started
- 4:21Speaker 4: like another nine shows.
- 4:23Speaker 8: Right, that was that was amazing, bet, But the quality
- 4:28Speaker 8: of musicians over there too, Like I think I've seen
- 4:30Speaker 8: about over one hundred bands while I've been over there,
- 4:32Speaker 8: and I'd probably pay to see ninety of them again.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Like they just gorgeous masters of what they do, aren't they.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely the first show we played in Tokyo it
- 4:43Speaker 4: felt like a festival, like every band.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Was so good, a great game.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Yeah, there's definitely that, like a nice healthy competition, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 4: where you want to put on your best every night.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Plus we also we do something whenever we go on tour,
- 5:00Speaker 4: we pick a song to cover that is special to
- 5:03Speaker 4: that country or that city.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Nice what did you change for your band?
- 5:06Speaker 4: So for Japan, we tossed around for what we should
- 5:09Speaker 4: do and we settled on heavy chains by loudness. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 4: it didn't go down well. There was a lot of
- 5:17Speaker 4: nerves leading up to that because this is almost like
- 5:20Speaker 4: something sacred, you know, going there to play that. But
- 5:23Speaker 4: they definitely I think we did.
- 5:25Speaker 3: We did it. Justice.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good idea. It's good.
- 5:29Speaker 6: That's like already this year, you guys have done heapes
- 5:32Speaker 6: of international touring, especially for band less than three years old.
- 5:36Speaker 6: So has it always been a focus of the band
- 5:38Speaker 6: to get out of Australia and get over the stage.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Look, we love playing just about anywhere, but we did
- 5:46Speaker 4: feel we wanted to travel. We want to see the world,
- 5:50Speaker 4: and you know, playing all these different places, I think
- 5:53Speaker 4: that really attracts us.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Going to somewhere brand new, and those.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Cities that we went to in Europe are not that
- 5:59Speaker 4: common and for a lot of the bands who are
- 6:02Speaker 4: first of all, not many bands go to Europe, and
- 6:06Speaker 4: even those that do go, they tend to go to
- 6:08Speaker 4: the UK and some of the more major cities. But
- 6:12Speaker 4: where we're adventures and we're broke.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Yeah and crazy.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Yeah, so we drive through snowstorms and go to Poland
- 6:23Speaker 4: and Slovakia.
- 6:25Speaker 9: It's good the car was sleeping from the world because
- 6:30Speaker 9: Josh never drew in that condition before.
- 6:34Speaker 7: And I know it's like it was it was a storm,
- 6:39Speaker 7: like you can't really see.
- 6:41Speaker 3: It was really bad.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But yeah, like Cody.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Will tell you, we've got a lot of history with
- 6:46Speaker 4: bed driving stories.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Gives the best bad driving story, it's the one I'm
- 6:53Speaker 1: thinking of.
- 6:55Speaker 10: It's gonna be a Q.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Is it a bit too bad of a memory for you?
- 7:04Speaker 10: It's all good?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 10: So we ended up long so sure, winning a sort
- 7:10Speaker 10: of competition to get up to play in Early Beach
- 7:14Speaker 10: in Queensland, and we decided to make a big road
- 7:17Speaker 10: trip out of it, So driving all the way from Melbourne,
- 7:20Speaker 10: Victoria all the way up there, and yeah, we had
- 7:26Speaker 10: a plan, we had the stops along the way everything,
- 7:28Speaker 10: and was the very very first day.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Driving up there.
- 7:33Speaker 4: You know.
- 7:33Speaker 1: First ye I was all good.
- 7:34Speaker 10: And then one of the cars pretty much just died,
- 7:39Speaker 10: just died. Yep, Like everything that went wrong on the
- 7:43Speaker 10: trip up there basically did.
- 7:47Speaker 1: When you got there. Early Beach is a great place,
- 7:49Speaker 1: so isn't it.
- 7:51Speaker 10: Oh it was lovely. It was really lovely and like
- 7:55Speaker 10: playing up there, even just being there for the festival
- 7:58Speaker 10: itself was really wonderful.
- 8:00Speaker 6: I'll prop up that wild from Cannes, so I've may
- 8:02Speaker 6: do a couple of the Early Beach festivals and I
- 8:04Speaker 6: put on a good spice, really good.
- 8:07Speaker 4: But to get there it was, Yeah, we're to drive
- 8:15Speaker 4: back and forth, so much the night.
- 8:17Speaker 1: That's just stupid, trying to drive from the over daily beach. First.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 3: The second time.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The second time, the car broke down just literally we
- 8:31Speaker 2: had no wheels, not me.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Such as car help.
- 8:35Speaker 3: The wheels just shredded.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you could see through the through the tire completely.
- 8:42Speaker 2: That's the second time.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Don't let it be third.
- 8:47Speaker 2: We honestly, we're honestly thought we will never we will
- 8:51Speaker 2: never make it.
- 8:53Speaker 7: Really because we arrived just before almost just before the
- 8:58Speaker 7: gieg this it was.
- 9:00Speaker 1: At least you made it.
- 9:02Speaker 9: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, then go then goodness, and that's
- 9:07Speaker 9: how we we have this amazing.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Memories.
- 9:13Speaker 6: You can't create memories three good times all the time,
- 9:15Speaker 6: can't have some bad ones.
- 9:16Speaker 7: Yeah, absolutely, yeah, I pretty much all my memories is
- 9:22Speaker 7: like that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Anyway, now, you guys released your debut album, The Art
- 9:31Speaker 6: of Letting Go last year, So how was the response
- 9:33Speaker 6: to that.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Response to that was yeah, really good. We didn't know
- 9:38Speaker 4: what to expect as that was new. It's just a
- 9:41Speaker 4: five song EP. We got a lot of In fact,
- 9:46Speaker 4: there was a lot of where our listeners were coming from.
- 9:48Speaker 3: That we decided where to go in Europe.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Okay, we actually wanted to go to Finland because for
- 9:54Speaker 4: some reason that's where we had the most listeners, but
- 9:57Speaker 4: we couldn't book a venue mhm. So the plan changed
- 10:01Speaker 4: and we're still trying to get back there, but it
- 10:05Speaker 4: still seems to be a it's so far away from
- 10:07Speaker 4: everything else and it's yeah, it's just hard to get there.
- 10:11Speaker 4: So hopefully this time we'll get a little bit closer.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Tell us a bit more about about the EP, the
- 10:18Speaker 6: Hot to Let Go, So tell us about it from
- 10:20Speaker 6: a musical point of view, I guess, and what you're
- 10:22Speaker 6: going forward with it being a debut album.
- 10:25Speaker 3: We honestly, we're just trying. We didn't We're just like.
- 10:31Speaker 9: I know what I like, I know what Josh like,
- 10:35Speaker 9: and I had like a melody and the lyrics done
- 10:41Speaker 9: and then we just jam and that's how our genre.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a misshmash of you know, different people.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I don't think we put that much thought into.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It at that stage.
- 10:58Speaker 4: And right now we're finishing up our full length album
- 11:03Speaker 4: and now we have Cody and Mark in the band,
- 11:06Speaker 4: and having you know, done two tours with Cody and
- 11:09Speaker 4: one tour with Mark, we went into a studio for
- 11:12Speaker 4: two days and wrote the whole.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Thing music to what was on the epain.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It's gonna be eight brand new tracks.
- 11:24Speaker 4: I think it's if you listen to the EP, you'll
- 11:27Speaker 4: be familiar with what we're doing, but there's quite a
- 11:29Speaker 4: few surprises, and it's it's like a more polished version
- 11:32Speaker 4: of us, you know. Definitely touring together with everyone. I
- 11:37Speaker 4: think you know, Mark and I talked about this as well.
- 11:39Speaker 4: It was really good that we went into the studio
- 11:41Speaker 4: straight after the Japan tour because we've been playing night
- 11:44Speaker 4: after night with everyone. So two days was nuts the
- 11:48Speaker 4: rite and a range eight songs, but it came together
- 11:51Speaker 4: so easily.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, very cool, very good.
- 11:54Speaker 6: Now that there was a line in the press release
- 11:55Speaker 6: that I read that I want you guys to elaborate
- 11:57Speaker 6: on a.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Bit for us.
- 11:57Speaker 6: It refers to it when it's tony music. It refers
- 12:01Speaker 6: to the cinematic orchestration within your music. Can you elaborate
- 12:05Speaker 6: on that a bit for us? Uh?
- 12:07Speaker 5: So, basically, when we were making the album, before we
- 12:13Speaker 5: started going into the studio, Josh actually put me aside
- 12:18Speaker 5: and told me that, you know, Anna likes all the strings,
- 12:24Speaker 5: likes to have the strings in in the songs. But
- 12:27Speaker 5: if I could have my way I would love to
- 12:30Speaker 5: have a lot of synse.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so I.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Kind of okay, took that, took that into into mine
- 12:39Speaker 5: when when when we were writing the album and tried
- 12:44Speaker 5: to come up with a good balance that we could
- 12:48Speaker 5: have uh, cinematic stringlines along with synth sounds and synth
- 12:58Speaker 5: sound design in the song. So that's how it all
- 13:02Speaker 5: came came about. It was like a mix of everyone's
- 13:06Speaker 5: ideas and and when we went into the studio, it
- 13:10Speaker 5: was it was honestly, it was quite magic.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I've never seen anything like that.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Like writing a full album in two days. And yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 5: I really think that the Japan tour helped us a
- 13:22Speaker 5: lot because we knew what each one what each other
- 13:28Speaker 5: was thinking, Like I look over at Cody, I know
- 13:31Speaker 5: what he's going to play.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I look at it at our drama, I.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Look over at Josh, and I looked at Enna and
- 13:36Speaker 5: everything just just came together in a very short amount
- 13:39Speaker 5: of time and it was it was perfect. Couldn't have
- 13:43Speaker 5: asked for a better experience than this, right, Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Very cool?
- 13:50Speaker 6: Yeah, And it was essentially your music blends symphonic metal,
- 13:53Speaker 6: power metal and heavy metal together, so how difficult is
- 13:56Speaker 6: it to get the balance.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Between genres right and the creative process.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Well, I'll think you something funny about our band.
- 14:02Speaker 4: There's five of us, and between the five of us,
- 14:05Speaker 4: there isn't a single artist that we all agree on
- 14:08Speaker 4: that we like already. Yeah, everybody listens to a different
- 14:14Speaker 4: kind of music or band. I think what brings it
- 14:19Speaker 4: together is we enjoy playing with each other. You know,
- 14:23Speaker 4: we will never go to the same concerts. You know,
- 14:25Speaker 4: we don't sit down and listen to the same music.
- 14:27Speaker 4: But when we get in a room, you know, it's
- 14:31Speaker 4: five people who are great at what they do, but
- 14:33Speaker 4: there's no egos.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Very important.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Yeah, so we spoke to be at the festival. You
- 14:40Speaker 6: playing at Rockdale, But what else has only got played
- 14:42Speaker 6: for the rest of twenty twenty five.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Six we have our first like little mini tour, two
- 14:50Speaker 4: shows in Victorian, two shows in New South Wales in October.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because we've.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Played everywhere except like Sydney Wollongong. So we're going to
- 14:59Speaker 4: finally go and do it. And then we've got a
- 15:03Speaker 4: whole bunch bunch of releases coming.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Out in the new year. We'll have the new album
- 15:09Speaker 3: out along with four music videos.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Very cool, and after that we should be planning to
- 15:15Speaker 4: head back to Europe and Asia again.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And probably some Australia shows dotted in between.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah cool. And what's the best place for people to
- 15:23Speaker 1: keep up to date with the bad and get your music.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Probably Instagram and Spotify.
- 15:28Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, but we do have all the social medias. Yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 7: we were active pretty much on every social media, but
- 15:37Speaker 7: mainly it's like, yeah, Instagram, but yes, spoty five YouTube, Yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 7: any any any platforms fine, not really, not really helpful.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yet, or buy a CD of the website.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah cool, that is a right.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Yeah, guys, well, thanks very much for your time. It's
- 15:58Speaker 6: been a pleasure. He is getting nights. We'll make sure
- 16:01Speaker 6: you let me know when you come to Brisbane and
- 16:03Speaker 6: I come down check this out. But in the maintime, okay,
- 16:06Speaker 6: thanks Chris, thank you, Thank you, Chris.
