- 0:25Speaker 1: and that's exactly what our next guest is doing today.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We're excited to welcome Kendrick as Bridges to our broadcast today.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You guys may know Kendrick because of his music. For
- 0:33Speaker 1: those of you, of course, who follow us on Amazon,
- 0:35Speaker 1: you know he has singles like Trippin' Over You and
- 0:37Speaker 1: You Are the One. But he also is an entrepreneur
- 0:39Speaker 1: as well. He's involved in business too. We're going to
- 0:41Speaker 1: talk to Kendrick not only about what it's been like
- 0:43Speaker 1: for him to do what he loves, but also to
- 0:45Speaker 1: be able to share that with all of you and
- 0:46Speaker 1: to see the response. If you all are not staying
- 0:48Speaker 1: connected with Kendrick, we'll let you know how to do
- 0:50Speaker 1: that too. But Kendrick, welcome to the program, man.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Matt.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Look, it's glad to have you on. First of all,
- 0:56Speaker 1: let me say congratulations to you on another big year, 2026.
- 0:58Speaker 1: You've been involved in a lot. As I mentioned to
- 1:01Speaker 1: you before you went on here, I've been following you
- 1:03Speaker 1: when it comes to the music, but also on what
- 1:05Speaker 1: you're doing in business. So, Kendra, what has it been
- 1:07Speaker 1: like for you to kind of reflect on this year
- 1:10Speaker 1: and think about all the things you've been able to do?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Man, you know, it's such a blessing. You know, I'm
- 1:15Speaker 2: very blessed to even have opportunities come to me, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: so I can pursue the things that I like doing.
- 1:21Speaker 2: the things that I love, you know. And, man, it's
- 1:24Speaker 2: just been, you know, a wonderful year. Man, God has
- 1:27Speaker 2: blessed me with my strength, you know, to persevere through,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, certain things that happen in and out of life. But,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know, it's still such a blessing to be able to,
- 1:37Speaker 2: you know, even have a functioning business, you know. And
- 1:41Speaker 2: I was blessed to have a great business partner, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 2: and just different stuff like that, you know. So, man,
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm very blessed.
- 1:49Speaker 1: So let's go back a little bit, Kendrick, for those
- 1:52Speaker 1: who have not been following you, and as I mentioned,
- 1:53Speaker 1: we're going to let people know how to do that.
- 1:55Speaker 1: When did you first realize that you had a gift,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and particularly with music? When did you know that music
- 1:59Speaker 1: was something that you definitely were interested in?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Man, listen, I've been involved in music all of my
- 2:05Speaker 2: life ever since I was a small child. I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I grew up in a church, and my father, he
- 2:12Speaker 2: had a gospel group. So I was always around music.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You know, my niece played the piano in the church.
- 2:20Speaker 2: We had a quartet group, you know, when I was
- 2:24Speaker 2: very young and, you know, doing talent shows and different
- 2:28Speaker 2: stuff like that, you know, early on in my life. So,
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, music kind of, you know, it kind of
- 2:34Speaker 2: chose me, you know. So, you know, I've been, like
- 2:39Speaker 2: I say, I've been blessed and God blessed me with
- 2:41Speaker 2: the gift of music and, you know, So, I mean,
- 2:44Speaker 2: it follows me throughout my life, everywhere I go. I
- 2:48Speaker 2: hear it all the time. I see it all the time,
- 2:50Speaker 2: you know. It's like a switch, man, that, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I can't never set off. So, you know, and I've
- 2:55Speaker 2: been around it all of my life. I come from
- 2:57Speaker 2: a musical background, a musical family. So I've been around
- 3:00Speaker 2: it all of my life, and it kind of chose me.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You know, I was like, you know, it was one
- 3:04Speaker 2: of those gifts that God gave me at birth.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So that's interesting then. So what about your own particular style?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Because I think that's one thing that people appreciate you.
- 3:13Speaker 1: We see you on Facebook in particular. You go live.
- 3:15Speaker 1: You'll be singing a bit. How did you decide on
- 3:18Speaker 1: your own style, Kendrick, and what type of music you
- 3:21Speaker 1: wanted to do?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Because I've been around it all of my life. Grew
- 3:24Speaker 2: up in a house where my mom played music all
- 3:26Speaker 2: the time. You know what I mean? She always had
- 3:28Speaker 2: it on Kixie 107 or 9.1 or even going to
- 3:31Speaker 2: blues shows when I was younger. You know, so, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I kind of developed that style from, you know, the
- 3:43Speaker 2: type of music that I grew up listening to. But,
- 3:46Speaker 2: you know, I'm very diverse because I like all kinds
- 3:48Speaker 2: of music. It's not just one particular style of music
- 3:52Speaker 2: that I like, but, you know, I do prefer to
- 3:57Speaker 2: just sing soul music. But, you know, I like all
- 3:59Speaker 2: different genres of music, and I write all different types.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Of music, you know?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 4:06Speaker 1: And our audience can definitely be able to enjoy that,
- 4:08Speaker 1: not only here on Amazon, but also, of course, through
- 4:10Speaker 1: other sites as well. But the other side is, as
- 4:12Speaker 1: I mentioned in my intro, Kendrick, you not only are
- 4:15Speaker 1: making a name for yourself in music, you're making yourself
- 4:18Speaker 1: for a name in business as well. You have the
- 4:20Speaker 1: Vintage Hotspot. I've been seeing you post about that. Talk
- 4:23Speaker 1: to us about that. How did you kind of not
- 4:25Speaker 1: only be able to develop your own love of fashion yourself,
- 4:29Speaker 1: but also to be able to go into entrepreneurism and
- 4:32Speaker 1: be able to show that in different ways?
- 4:34Speaker 2: You know, it's kind of funny how that came about.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I've been in the estate business for 15 years. Me
- 4:41Speaker 2: and my partner, David Murrow, we started that business about
- 4:45Speaker 2: 15 years ago. And, you know, so I used to
- 4:50Speaker 2: always see like the older clothes. I've always been attracted
- 4:54Speaker 2: to Venice clothes anyway. And, you know, I always have
- 4:58Speaker 2: had like an online store business. sold vintage clothes and
- 5:02Speaker 2: different stuff like that. And then, you know, with me
- 5:06Speaker 2: having the estate business with my partner, David, you know,
- 5:11Speaker 2: and then I was thinking, I was like, well, you know,
- 5:13Speaker 2: this is a great opportunity right here to be able
- 5:16Speaker 2: to create some and see, you know, my online business with,
- 5:21Speaker 2: you know, the apparel. And so, you know, I was
- 5:24Speaker 2: selling out of my garage and then, you know, one
- 5:27Speaker 2: day David called me because I posted something online, and
- 5:30Speaker 2: he saw it, and he was like, hey, man, listen,
- 5:33Speaker 2: you know, we're getting ready to, you know, reinvent our
- 5:36Speaker 2: business and move to another location. He was like, why
- 5:39Speaker 2: don't you, you know, create the Vintage Hotspot there, man,
- 5:44Speaker 2: you know? And so that was an opportunity for me to,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you know, create the store and open the store and,
- 5:50Speaker 2: you know, feed the public, not just people online, but
- 5:53Speaker 2: just actually feed the public, you know... with things from
- 5:58Speaker 2: the past, you know, like Venice Clothes, and, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 2: I noticed that, you know, I started developing, you know,
- 6:04Speaker 2: a good following online, and, man, people was reaching out
- 6:07Speaker 2: from different cities and different stuff like that and wanting
- 6:10Speaker 2: to come because I was selling out of my garage, and,
- 6:13Speaker 2: you know, people was wanting to come out of state
- 6:16Speaker 2: to my house, to my garage, man, and that was
- 6:18Speaker 2: mind-blowing to me, man, and I, you know, I realized,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I was like, you know, if I must have some
- 6:23Speaker 2: very good pieces, you know, people would taking their time
- 6:27Speaker 2: to leave their state and come to my garage here
- 6:29Speaker 2: in Mississippi, man. So, you know, that was like, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: that was mind-blowing to me, man, and I really do
- 6:35Speaker 2: appreciate every customer that came and saw me and done
- 6:38Speaker 2: business with me, man. And so, you know, I say this,
- 6:42Speaker 2: I say that to say this, like, you know, if
- 6:44Speaker 2: you've got a dream, you know, hold on to it, man, because,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you know, be very appreciative of humble beginnings. You know
- 6:54Speaker 2: what I mean? Because you never know, you know, something
- 6:57Speaker 2: small can turn into something gigantic. You know, if you
- 7:00Speaker 2: stay consistent and you keep good people around you, man,
- 7:04Speaker 2: God will bless you and put you in certain positions
- 7:06Speaker 2: that you never thought you would be in.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Man, that's such a great point, man, and I totally
- 7:11Speaker 1: agree with you. And I think your life and what
- 7:15Speaker 1: you've been able to do, Kendrick, is a great example
- 7:17Speaker 1: of that, right? But you said something I want to
- 7:19Speaker 1: go back to, because especially when it comes to the
- 7:21Speaker 1: vintage hotspot, and again, we're going to let our audience know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: how to stay connected with you so they can find
- 7:25Speaker 1: out more information. Here you are, you started with something,
- 7:28Speaker 1: as you mentioned, you know, in one place, and now
- 7:30Speaker 1: you've been able to see it grow, you know, there
- 7:33Speaker 1: in Canton. And as you mentioned, you know, not only,
- 7:35Speaker 1: of course, being able to share it online, but also
- 7:38Speaker 1: have a physical place. Do you still have those wow
- 7:40Speaker 1: moments when you think about how it all started and
- 7:43Speaker 1: where you are today?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Man, you know, I reflect on that all the time.
- 7:47Speaker 2: As far as, man, I was just, you know, the
- 7:50Speaker 2: other night, man, you know, when I wind down and
- 7:52Speaker 2: get to the house, man, I just... you know, I
- 7:54Speaker 2: sit and I think, you know, and I like to
- 7:56Speaker 2: drink a little wine before bed, man, and I just
- 7:58Speaker 2: sit and just, you know, and talk to my wife
- 8:01Speaker 2: and just, you know, think about how far, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 2: we've came, you know, together, and man, yeah, man, it's always,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, like, wow, you know, you never know how
- 8:13Speaker 2: things are going to work out, and people always worry
- 8:16Speaker 2: about how things are going to work out, but see,
- 8:18Speaker 2: the thing is about you know, having, you know, faith,
- 8:22Speaker 2: you know, God even already worked that thing out for you. Right.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And you worry about it, but it's already worked out
- 8:29Speaker 2: for you. So the thing that you're worrying about, you
- 8:31Speaker 2: don't even have to worry about because when he puts
- 8:34Speaker 2: it together, it's always the wow factor. It's always like, man,
- 8:38Speaker 2: I never thought that it would come together this way
- 8:40Speaker 2: because in your mind, you're thinking that it's going to
- 8:43Speaker 2: work another way. But then he has such a beautiful
- 8:47Speaker 2: way of working things out for you that, you know, it's...
- 8:49Speaker 2: Your blessings, you know, arise right on time.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Exactly. I think that's it, man, and you're living proof
- 8:57Speaker 1: of that. I want to say for those who are
- 8:58Speaker 1: just tuning in, welcome. You're listening to Conversations Live. We're
- 9:01Speaker 1: excited to welcome Kendrick S. Bridges to our broadcast today.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You know him as a recording artist. He's an entrepreneur,
- 9:08Speaker 1: an individual who's been able to not only have a
- 9:10Speaker 1: dream but also turn it into reality. He has music
- 9:13Speaker 1: that's available on all the platforms, including our partner here
- 9:15Speaker 1: at Amazon, but also he has the Vintage Hotspot in
- 9:19Speaker 1: Mississippi where you're able to visit. We're going to remind
- 9:21Speaker 1: you of that as well. And, Kendrick, the other side
- 9:23Speaker 1: of this, too, and this has always been big for
- 9:25Speaker 1: me in my life, it's not enough for me to
- 9:27Speaker 1: be able to do what I love. I love the
- 9:28Speaker 1: fact that I can inspire other people. How does that
- 9:31Speaker 1: feel to know that we're talking about in business or
- 9:34Speaker 1: in music or just in your attitude how you've been
- 9:37Speaker 1: able to inspire other people and motivate them when it
- 9:39Speaker 1: comes to pursuing their own goals and dreams?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Man, you know, that's really a touchy subject for me because,
- 9:47Speaker 2: you know, I mean, you know, it's not easy being
- 9:50Speaker 2: an entrepreneur. And then, you know, it's a lot of
- 9:52Speaker 2: years that you're going to go through, you know, hard
- 9:55Speaker 2: times and, you know, trying times. But if you believe
- 9:59Speaker 2: in something within yourself and then you have a community
- 10:02Speaker 2: of people that show you love and appreciate the things
- 10:05Speaker 2: that you do and they believe in you too, then,
- 10:08Speaker 2: you know, you'll get through it. You know what I'm saying?
- 10:10Speaker 2: You'll find yourself, you know, experiencing inspiring others without you
- 10:16Speaker 2: even realizing that you're inspiring others. So, you know, always,
- 10:20Speaker 2: you know, you know, be attentive and be, you know, grounding,
- 10:26Speaker 2: you know, because people are always watching you, even if
- 10:30Speaker 2: they don't, you know, support you or tell you, they're
- 10:34Speaker 2: always watching. And, you know, you are inspiring a person to,
- 10:38Speaker 2: without you even knowing it, just by them watching you.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And because a lot of people don't have the courage
- 10:44Speaker 2: to do certain things that they want to do, they
- 10:47Speaker 2: might have a dream, but, you know, they're afraid of
- 10:49Speaker 2: what people might think or what, you know, how society
- 10:52Speaker 2: might view them. But through watching you, you give them
- 10:55Speaker 2: the encouragement that they need. You know what I mean? So,
- 10:59Speaker 2: you know, you have to be that light, man. Even
- 11:03Speaker 2: when things look dim, even when things look dark, you
- 11:06Speaker 2: just have to pray and find your way because... you know,
- 11:10Speaker 2: it was many times that I wanted to quit. It's
- 11:12Speaker 2: still many times that I have trying times, but I,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you know, I, I try to persevere and push through,
- 11:19Speaker 2: push through that thing because I have so many people that,
- 11:23Speaker 2: that love what I do. I have so many people
- 11:25Speaker 2: that come up to me and tell me, you know,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I'm such a blessing to them. And that's what keeps
- 11:29Speaker 2: me going. You know what I mean? And, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 2: for a stranger to walk up to you and tell
- 11:34Speaker 2: you that, you know, uh, uh, you're the reason that
- 11:39Speaker 2: they got through something. Or, you know, your song helped them.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Or you have such a wonderful story. You have, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I love the way that, you know, you curated everything.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You know, that means a lot because, you know, when
- 11:53Speaker 2: you build it from the ground up with your own
- 11:55Speaker 2: hands and then somebody tells you how much they appreciate
- 11:59Speaker 2: what you built, man, that's a beautiful thing. Exactly.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You repost a lot of things on your Facebook page, Kendrick.
- 12:07Speaker 1: There's something when I was preparing for this conversation with you,
- 12:11Speaker 1: something that you shared on September the 3rd I wanted
- 12:13Speaker 1: to read and for us to talk about. You re-shared
- 12:16Speaker 1: something that said, I'm obsessed with where I want to
- 12:19Speaker 1: be in life, and I'm delusional enough to believe I
- 12:22Speaker 1: can do it. How important has it been for you,
- 12:25Speaker 1: no matter if you don't get the support, how important
- 12:27Speaker 1: has it been for you to never– doubt yourself and
- 12:30Speaker 1: always believe that you can, even when things don't look possible.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It's very important. It's very important to believe in self.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And you like, like, you know, the quote said that
- 12:40Speaker 2: you have to, you have to be man downright delusional,
- 12:45Speaker 2: downright crazy, obsessed, you know, over your dream because nobody
- 12:51Speaker 2: is going to put forth the effort and the belief
- 12:55Speaker 2: and the know-how and the grind, you know, in it
- 12:59Speaker 2: like you. You know what I mean? You can have
- 13:02Speaker 2: a dream, but, you know, nobody's going to believe in
- 13:05Speaker 2: your dream the way you do. People will be with
- 13:09Speaker 2: you to a certain extent, and then once one thing
- 13:12Speaker 2: goes wrong, they out of here. Yeah. You know what
- 13:16Speaker 2: I mean? You know what I'm saying? Right. So, you know,
- 13:21Speaker 2: if you believe it, you know what I'm saying, you
- 13:23Speaker 2: can achieve it. You know what I mean? And I
- 13:26Speaker 2: stand on that, you know, and I know that's such
- 13:27Speaker 2: a cliche, but Man, listen, that is so true. You
- 13:31Speaker 2: have to believe in what you're doing in order to
- 13:33Speaker 2: bring it into fruition. You know what I mean? So,
- 13:37Speaker 2: you know, believe in yourself. No matter what happens, no
- 13:40Speaker 2: matter who come and go in your life, God gave
- 13:43Speaker 2: you that vision. He didn't give it to them. God
- 13:46Speaker 2: gave it to you. And so, therefore, people are not
- 13:49Speaker 2: going to be able to see what you see. You
- 13:52Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Because it's not meant for them
- 13:54Speaker 2: to see it. He gave that vision to you. He
- 13:56Speaker 2: gave that dream to you. You know where you want
- 13:58Speaker 2: to be in life. You know where you're trying to go.
- 14:00Speaker 2: You know how many steps it's going to take to
- 14:04Speaker 2: go up the ladder to get to where you need
- 14:06Speaker 2: to go. You know what I mean? So do what
- 14:09Speaker 2: you got to do. Protect your dream. Always stay away
- 14:13Speaker 2: from small-minded people because they will never understand a big brain.
- 14:19Speaker 2: They will never. You know what I mean? Just love
- 14:21Speaker 2: what you do. Protect your dream. Believe in yourself. And
- 14:27Speaker 2: just go for it. That's all you have to do.
- 14:29Speaker 2: You have to jump. I heard Steve Harvey say something
- 14:32Speaker 2: one time that I was listening to him. He said that,
- 14:35Speaker 2: you know, you have to be able to jump off
- 14:38Speaker 2: the cliff. You see everybody else jumping off the cliff, gliding,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and you're standing there. And you're wondering which way they
- 14:45Speaker 2: went when they jumped. Standing there, you know, being stagnated,
- 14:49Speaker 2: knowing that you want to take that chance, take that leap,
- 14:52Speaker 2: but you're afraid to. The moment that you get comfortable
- 14:56Speaker 2: with being uncomfortable, that's where the blessing is.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree, man. I totally agree, man. You're
- 15:02Speaker 1: definitely showing people by example what's possible. Again, everyone, Kendrick S.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Bridges has been our guest. He's a recording artist, entrepreneur,
- 15:09Speaker 1: someone who's been able to dream big and see those
- 15:12Speaker 1: dreams become a reality. Kendrick, man, congratulations to you again
- 15:15Speaker 1: on everything that's been happening this year, everything that's led
- 15:18Speaker 1: up to this year for sure.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 15:21Speaker 1: How can our audience, I know the music's available through
- 15:23Speaker 1: the streaming platforms, our friends here at Amazon, but also
- 15:27Speaker 1: the other places, too. How can they stay connected with you?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Listen, you can find me on Facebook, Kendrick S. Bridges.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You can find me on Instagram, Kendrick S. Bridges, Kendrick
- 15:39Speaker 2: Bridges Music, Music Recording. You can follow my Instagram page
- 15:44Speaker 2: at TheVintageHotSpot. You can follow my TikTok page. vintage and
- 15:50Speaker 2: blues music. So, you know, and I'm on all streaming platforms,
- 15:54Speaker 2: you know, Apple music, Spotify, uh, Amazon, you know, I'm everywhere.
- 16:01Speaker 2: So you can even Google me, Google me and everything
- 16:04Speaker 2: will pop up on what you want to know about me,
- 16:06Speaker 2: the story and et cetera.
- 16:07Speaker 1: All right, man. Well, look, looking forward to our next
- 16:11Speaker 1: chat together, man. Thanks again for stopping by. I really
