States are still waiting nearly a year for billions in federal reimbursement for immigration enforcement costs, despite a law mandating funds be distributed within 90 days of July 4, 2025. Texas Senator John Cornyn threatened to support a different immigration bill over the delay, after a White House call about a “notice of funding.” The DOJ will approve grants on a rolling basis, while DHS hints funds could begin flowing as early as August 1 — finally, the wheels are turning.
