- 0:00Hello there , market enthusiasts !
- 0:02You are listening to Spy Trader , your goto guide for navigating the financial seas without getting seasick .
- 0:09I am your host , Barnaby Bull , and I am so glad you could join me today .
- 0:13It is currently 2:30 pm on Friday , September 11th , 2026 , out here on the sunny Pacific coast .
- 0:21We have had a busy week , and since we check in every few hours , there is plenty to talk about as we head into the weekend .
- 0:29To start us off , let’s look at the big picture .
- 0:32We are currently navigating a Mature Growth phase in the US stock market .
- 0:36Remember the wild volatility and high inflation of the mid2020s ?
- 0:40Well , the market has finally transitioned into a more stabilized , productivitydriven environment .
- 0:46The broad market , represented by the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF , or VTI , and the S&P 500 through VOO , has shown a lot of resilience this year .
- 0:59The Federal Reserve has shifted to a neutral stance , which has provided a predictable backdrop for corporate borrowing .
- 1:06This has finally halted the decline in the iShares 20 plus Year Treasury Bond ETF , ticker TLT , as inflation hovers near a comfortable 2.4 percent mark .
- 1:17We are also officially in the AI Execution Era .
- 1:21In 2026 , the market is no longer trading on the mere promise of Artificial Intelligence , but on actual earnings growth .
- 1:29Companies that have integrated AI to improve their margins are the ones winning the day .
- 1:35For instance , Apple , ticker AAPL , just had a product launch this week focused heavily on Sovereign AI integration , which has boosted confidence in a major hardware refresh cycle .
- 1:47This is helping the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund , or XLK , and the Invesco QQQ Trust continue their leadership .
- 1:57In other sectors , the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund , known as XLV , is a top performer .
- 2:04The massive success of weight loss and metabolic drugs has turned pharmaceutical giants like Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk into genuine growth stocks .
- 2:14On the recovery front , the Vanguard Real Estate ETF , or VNQ , is seeing a resurgence now that interest rates have plateaued and the workfromhome fallout has finally bottomed out .
- 2:27Even banks like JPMorgan Chase are reporting strong interest margins , benefiting the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund , or XLF .
- 2:36Now , what does this mean for your portfolio ?
- 2:39We are currently seeing a typical September Slump , which is a seasonal weakness as institutional investors rebalance .
- 2:46This is actually creating a buy the dip opportunity for longterm holders of the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF , ticker IVV .
- 2:56For a solid strategy , I recommend a Core and Satellite approach .
- 3:01Keep 70 percent of your portfolio in a foundation like VOO or VTI .
- 3:06For the remaining 30 percent , you could split your focus between QQQ for tech innovation and XLV for defensive growth in healthcare .
- 3:15If you are looking for income and stability , consider increasing your exposure to the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF , ticker BND .
- 3:25With the ratehiking cycle over , BND offers monthly income and capital preservation .
- 3:31You might even add a small 5 to 10 percent position in VNQ to capture those attractive real estate yields .
- 3:38Finally , for those looking abroad , the Vanguard FTSE Developed Markets ETF , ticker VEA , offers a great margin of safety as European and Japanese markets are trading at lower valuations than the US .
- 3:54The market in late 2026 is all about quality and established giants with high cash flow .
- 4:00Use this September dip to your advantage .
- 4:03That is it for this update !
- 4:05I am Barnaby Bull , and I will be back in a few hours with more insights .
- 4:10Happy trading !
