Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, now it's time for the radio from Hell
- 0:03Speaker 1: x Pole. Now this can only happen if you participate
- 0:07Speaker 1: to participate in the ex Bowl. And it's a simple question,
- 0:11Speaker 1: name something or tell us about something that you are
- 0:14Speaker 1: just ridiculously bad at. I can tell you for me,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I am ridiculously bad at giving gifts.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You are not.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I am.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We had this argument last week. You are not bad.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I am bad at giving gifts. It was just just
- 0:32Speaker 1: now the gift I recently gave, which was a pretty
- 0:34Speaker 1: good gift. Yeah, but that was just a man. That
- 0:38Speaker 1: was a one off. I'm telling you it's true.
- 0:42Speaker 4: We talk about the gift you gave because I think
- 0:44Speaker 4: it's a Yeah. So Bill's wife, missus Bill, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 4: she's she's a roller derby.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And her roller derby name is Jammy Dodger.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Which is which a British a British cookie, and it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: a cookie that has a little bit of jam in
- 1:01Speaker 1: the center of it. Okay.
- 1:02Speaker 4: And so the other day when Bill came in, He's like,
- 1:05Speaker 4: I stayed up till till way too late. I'm like,
- 1:07Speaker 4: what were you doing till ten o'clock at night? He said, well, well,
- 1:11Speaker 4: you can tell the story.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I was making cookies I made. I made a batch
- 1:15Speaker 1: of jammy Dodgers for my wife, little round cookies, and
- 1:18Speaker 1: then I cut a little cut a little they're they're
- 1:20Speaker 1: like sandwich cook if you put jam in the middle
- 1:22Speaker 1: of them, it's essentially short bread cookies. Oh, and you
- 1:26Speaker 1: put jam in the middle. And I and I cut
- 1:28Speaker 1: a little heart in the top so you could see
- 1:30Speaker 1: the red the red jam. There's a heart in the Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And so I made those. But that was just luck.
- 1:36Speaker 3: That's not luck. That's a great year. It is.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, But I'm not good at that. I'm generally not
- 1:41Speaker 1: good at thinking up those things.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Eight seven seven six or two six?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Dare you tell me what I'm not good at. You know,
- 1:50Speaker 1: you're ridiculously bad at.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I can't cook at all.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I thought we were gonna say sing, well.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I mean seeing in the promo, I said singing. I'm
- 1:58Speaker 4: not a good singer. But but my kids love to
- 2:01Speaker 4: tell this story. This will be told someday when I'm
- 2:04Speaker 4: dead at my funeral.
- 2:06Speaker 1: They will say, maybe we should save it.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Remember when mom made mac and milk, mac and milk.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So I was my husband was gone, and I said,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm going to make you mac and cheese, and I
- 2:22Speaker 4: don't eat that right, so so, and it's a packaged one.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It wasn't like a fancy, you know recipe.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You didn't think to look in the box and you
- 2:31Speaker 1: didn't know there was a packet of cheese in there.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I think I knew, but I didn't. You know, the
- 2:36Speaker 3: cheese is not important to me.
- 2:37Speaker 4: So I made the I made the noodles, and then
- 2:40Speaker 4: I heat it up the milk and the butter, and
- 2:42Speaker 4: then I just poured that over the themodles and I
- 2:45Speaker 4: didn't realize I hadn't put the cheese in it. And
- 2:48Speaker 4: I set it in front of my kids and they're.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Like, what what is Did they eat it?
- 2:52Speaker 4: No?
- 2:53Speaker 5: They're like, what is this? It's noodle, cereal mac and milk.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You ridiculously bad at We had to have somebody on.
- 3:02Speaker 5: We have can Camille?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Hi, Camille, how are you today?
- 3:06Speaker 3: Hey?
- 3:07Speaker 6: I'm fine, just fine that.
- 3:11Speaker 5: I want to talk about how bad I was the
- 3:13Speaker 5: last play last time I played soccer in eighth grade gym?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Oh was that a long time ago?
- 3:19Speaker 3: A little while?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Uh?
- 3:22Speaker 4: Oh?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yeah, a bit?
- 3:24Speaker 6: Uh.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Basically, I in eighth grade gym. We were actually playing
- 3:30Speaker 7: inside because the who I was at.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Was too cheap to have a field.
- 3:35Speaker 7: And uh, everybody was.
- 3:38Speaker 1: It was.
- 3:38Speaker 6: It was basically kickball where everybody.
- 3:40Speaker 7: Like congregates around the ball and they keep kicking until
- 3:43Speaker 7: it escapes the cluster of an eighth grader cluster around
- 3:48Speaker 7: it again.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, So I am on defense.
- 3:51Speaker 7: Where the non athletic kids were, and at one point
- 3:55Speaker 7: I'm just standing by the goal.
- 3:57Speaker 2: The ball escapes the cluster, hits my legs into the goal.
- 4:01Speaker 7: And that was not the last time that happened. The
- 4:03Speaker 7: second time it happened, it hit me in the chest,
- 4:07Speaker 7: hit me in the face, and then went into my
- 4:09Speaker 7: own goal.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, way to go. Yeah, nice goals, nice play.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Can horribly injured myself.
- 4:16Speaker 1: No, I was okay, but nice. Stay away from soccer, thanks, Camille.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Uh, we have a few texts coming in.
- 4:23Speaker 4: You can't text your answer to if you want three
- 4:25Speaker 4: three nine eights.
- 4:27Speaker 3: We'd love to hear from you on the phone.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Mike, Hey Mike, this is doctor Mike. Yeah, yeah, doctor Mike. Uh,
- 4:34Speaker 1: what are you just terrible.
- 4:36Speaker 6: At I'm terrible at throwing away receipts.
- 4:40Speaker 4: You mean you keep them or you throw them away,
- 4:43Speaker 4: which okay.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And you you know it's got gotten to the point
- 4:47Speaker 1: where when when they say at the store, would you
- 4:49Speaker 1: like a receipt with that? I say no, because I
- 4:52Speaker 1: don't need You.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Don't want to.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You don't need them.
- 4:54Speaker 3: You don'tant to end up like doctor Mike.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't end up with a whole bunch of
- 4:58Speaker 1: them in your car. What and why do you still
- 5:01Speaker 1: get the mic? You don't You have a bank statement
- 5:04Speaker 1: that'll tell you what it is.
- 5:06Speaker 6: I know, I just have to get over it, because
- 5:08Speaker 6: you in life, you never know what you have to
- 5:10Speaker 6: keep and what you can throw away.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:13Speaker 5: My mom always taught me to hold onto receipts, so
- 5:16Speaker 5: I do understand this, all.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Right, Well, okay, just try throw them away, Mike, throw
- 5:21Speaker 1: them away?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Thanks to Bill.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Okay, suh, really quick. Let's go to Robin.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Hi, Robin, what are you bad at?
- 5:30Speaker 7: I cannot wrap a gift to save my life.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Oh I'm not good at that either.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I'm not too good at it all.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I'm a gift gift bag and tissue. Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 7: While my kids were little, in order to know that
- 5:46Speaker 7: Santa was like a thing, I had to put everything
- 5:49Speaker 7: in gift backs because if I wrapped it, they knew
- 5:51Speaker 7: it was from me.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Smart.
- 5:54Speaker 1: All right, thank you, Thanks Robin. What are you just
- 5:58Speaker 1: extraordinarily bad at?
- 6:00Speaker 4: We do have a couple of text coming and falling
- 6:02Speaker 4: asleep in a reasonable amount of time.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yes, I'm horrible at life. That's just that's that's true.
- 6:08Speaker 2: General.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I'm horrible at giving gifts that are not practical. I
- 6:13Speaker 3: like a practical gift. That's nothing.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Oh here, here, honey, it's a rake.
- 6:19Speaker 4: I'm bad at relationships. Somebody says running. If I'm running,
- 6:24Speaker 4: you better run too. Something scaries behind me. That's from Lizabrarian.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I'm not good at that either, Lizabrarian. I'm bad at
- 6:31Speaker 4: keeping up with my laundry. Somebody says arts and crafts,
- 6:36Speaker 4: although I continually try to use my meager skills to
- 6:38Speaker 4: help my son with his elaborate history projects.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just see. My family likes to make gifts
- 6:44Speaker 1: for one another, and they do remarkable things, and I
- 6:47Speaker 1: can't do them.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Ever since I started crocheting. Everybody's gift in my family's.
- 6:53Speaker 4: When first divorced, my dad made us mac and cheese,
- 6:56Speaker 4: but didn't drain the water, so we had mac and
- 6:58Speaker 4: cheese soup.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Gina, you're not a okay, I can't.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I just can't quite imagine being that pathetic that you
- 7:05Speaker 1: you couldn't make mac and cheese out of a box.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Well, I just because I don't eat that, and I
- 7:10Speaker 4: don't think about the cheese.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I just didn't. I just thought it was done.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You didn't. There's a pocket of something there. Oh, maybe
- 7:19Speaker 1: i'd better put that into it.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe I thought it was I don't
- 7:22Speaker 3: know what I thought it was.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I'm terrible at cleaning. In one spot, my ADHD cleaning
- 7:27Speaker 5: is so bad that I'll start cleaning the living room
- 7:29Speaker 5: and then I take something to the kitchen, and I
- 7:31Speaker 5: start cleaning the kitchen because something dirt is dirty in there.
- 7:34Speaker 5: But then I need to take something to the bathroom,
- 7:36Speaker 5: so I start cleaning the bathroom. Then the laundry goes
- 7:38Speaker 5: to the bedroom, and then I'm starting. I'm going all
- 7:40Speaker 5: over the place. I can't stick in one place to
- 7:43Speaker 5: clean it to save my life.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Somebody says my issue is ADHD. I losed interest in
- 7:49Speaker 4: things that I'm terrible at. I tried my hand at crochet.
- 7:51Speaker 4: My potholders were always triangles rather than squares. I have
- 7:54Speaker 4: no idea what I was doing wrong.
- 7:56Speaker 5: I'll teach you how to crochet. It looks like we
- 7:58Speaker 5: have Sarah on the phone.
- 8:00Speaker 7: Right, Hey, good morning.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you notoriously bad.
- 8:04Speaker 2: At time management? I have a coworker who calls me
- 8:11Speaker 2: a time optimist, where I see, I think I can
- 8:14Speaker 2: get stuff done a little bit faster, but it seems
- 8:17Speaker 2: to take twice as long as I thought.
- 8:19Speaker 3: It was always every time.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Optimist. It's a nice way to insult.
- 8:26Speaker 6: What is that?
- 8:27Speaker 1: What problem does that cause you? As a general rule.
- 8:31Speaker 7: Oh, running late and then being in traffic and feeling
- 8:37Speaker 7: frustrated and rushed, you know, and then and then and
- 8:40Speaker 7: then not like notoriously I get caught by the train,
- 8:43Speaker 7: like I get stuck waiting at the train, and I'm like, ahpist.
- 8:49Speaker 4: My husband is a time optimist and that He always like,
- 8:52Speaker 4: what are you going to do today?
- 8:53Speaker 3: And he rattles off this list.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I'm like, there's no way you're getting to all of
- 8:57Speaker 4: those things today. There is no way all of it?
- 8:59Speaker 3: He sometimes, but often not.
- 9:04Speaker 1: All right, Thank you, Sarah.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Thanks, I have a great day.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Somebody says I'm terrible at going through mail junk or not.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Am always piles up. I'm terrible at surfing.
- 9:16Speaker 4: One time I tried, I drifted away from the instructor
- 9:19Speaker 4: for five minutes till I fell off the board and
- 9:21Speaker 4: stepped on a rock with a baby sea urchin. I
- 9:24Speaker 4: almost paralyzed my foot. Yeah, I think you need to
- 9:26Speaker 4: give up surfing.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But are you bad at? Extraordinarily bad at let.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Us that we're doing the X pole? A couple of
- 9:43Speaker 4: texts that have come in Tree of Maine. I'm extremely shy,
- 9:46Speaker 4: so I'm horrible at calling in.
- 9:48Speaker 3: To you guys. Also horrible at taking compliments. Just say
- 9:51Speaker 3: thank you.
- 9:52Speaker 5: I have a friend like that who just can't accept
- 9:55Speaker 5: a compliment.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I'm terrible at drawing games like pictionary.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. There are a lot of things I'm
- 10:04Speaker 1: extraordinarily bad at.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Somebody says I can't stay awake to watch a movie
- 10:09Speaker 4: for the life of me, and I love movies.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I'm terrible at skateboarding. I can't even stand on one.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I even managed to trip on them or kick them
- 10:19Speaker 4: when they're around they're after me.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I am also a really bad cook. My husband can't
- 10:26Speaker 4: stand my cooking, therefore he cooks every meal.
- 10:30Speaker 1: If you would like to participate on the telephone, what
- 10:32Speaker 1: are you extraordinarily bad at putting.
- 10:35Speaker 3: My clean clothes away.
- 10:37Speaker 4: They go from the basket to the bed, back to
- 10:40Speaker 4: the basket, ultimately goes on the floor. Geez, I call
- 10:44Speaker 4: it my floordrobe instead of the wardrobe.
- 10:47Speaker 5: I have been there.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I have a floordrobe right right in front of where
- 10:51Speaker 1: all my shirts are hanging. Yeah, there's usually like a
- 10:54Speaker 1: pair of shorts and a T shirt and maybe two
- 10:58Speaker 1: pair of shorts because I don't know which ones I
- 11:00Speaker 1: so I just leave him on the floor.
- 11:02Speaker 4: It's terrible, ridiculously bad at being a decent human being
- 11:06Speaker 4: with empathy for others? Is this Mike Lee writing that
- 11:09Speaker 4: in Let's See, I was so bad as the pilot
- 11:15Speaker 4: on the Smugglers Run that my children ban me from
- 11:17Speaker 4: the position when we go to Disneyland.
- 11:21Speaker 5: That's unfortunate. It is a hard that is a hard
- 11:24Speaker 5: role to do.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I will say, I am a horrible swimmer.
- 11:28Speaker 4: My wife always wants me to go swimming in the
- 11:30Speaker 4: ocean or a pool, and I always feel like I'm
- 11:32Speaker 4: going to drown. But I've been scuba diving. It was
- 11:35Speaker 4: a fun and interesting experience.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Let's see, what are you ridiculously bad at?
- 11:42Speaker 5: A TEXTA says bad at fishing. I've never been fishing,
- 11:45Speaker 5: never been fishing, never been fishing.
- 11:47Speaker 3: How have you never been fishing?
- 11:49Speaker 5: My family doesn't they're not fishers.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I guess yeah, if you're, I don't know.
- 11:53Speaker 5: I had one person that promised me he would teach
- 11:55Speaker 5: me how to how to go fishing, and then he died,
- 11:58Speaker 5: unfortunately Key. And then it was Deve, our engineer, my
- 12:03Speaker 5: best friend. Unfortunately he never got a chance to before
- 12:06Speaker 5: he passed away.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I'm sorry to hear that.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm terrible at fishing because I've never gone.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I feel it.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Apparently I'm bad at literally everything that every other listener
- 12:18Speaker 4: is bad at. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm good
- 12:20Speaker 4: at anything.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I keep thinking it. Yeah, no, I'm not good at
- 12:26Speaker 1: that either. People are extraordinarily bad at calling into the
- 12:29Speaker 1: radio fish Ron.
- 12:32Speaker 4: The carpenter says he can build nice things, but horrible
- 12:35Speaker 4: at gift wrapping. Oh this is one I wish my
- 12:41Speaker 4: daughter were in town. She would like this one. I
- 12:44Speaker 4: could not do my daughter's hair when she was little,
- 12:48Speaker 4: like you know, cute little ponytails or braids or everything.
- 12:52Speaker 4: And she'll look at pictures of her when she was
- 12:54Speaker 4: little and she's like, Mom, why did you let me
- 12:55Speaker 4: run around like that? I'm like, I can't. I don't know.
- 13:00Speaker 1: You don't know how to do a ponytail.
- 13:02Speaker 5: I mean it's hard to do on other people.
- 13:04Speaker 4: It can be I could, but like a cute hairstyle,
- 13:07Speaker 4: like you know how moms do their little girl's hair.
- 13:10Speaker 1: See, you have a wallet, and you have a car,
- 13:13Speaker 1: and you could take them, take them to a stylist.
- 13:15Speaker 4: But not every day like like you know, sending her
- 13:18Speaker 4: to school kind of thing. You have.
- 13:20Speaker 1: You get that kind of haircut that doesn't have to
- 13:22Speaker 1: have anything done to it, it's just just it's just short.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I did that once, could spike It got mistaken for
- 13:29Speaker 5: a boy when I was wearing a skirt. Never never
- 13:32Speaker 5: had short hair after.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Never did them.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Nope.
- 13:35Speaker 4: More people that are awful at knitting, lots of crocheers
- 13:38Speaker 4: and knitters.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Knitting is really hard, though, isn't it.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Knitting is a I think knitting is harder than crocheing
- 13:43Speaker 5: because it has to do with both of your hands
- 13:44Speaker 5: working together. Crocheing, in reality, is just one with yarn
- 13:47Speaker 5: on the other. I learned from I used to not
- 13:50Speaker 5: be great at it. I learned from YouTube YouTube videos
- 13:53Speaker 5: have been my best friend, and I have made shawls
- 13:55Speaker 5: and crop tops.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Thank god you weren't being taught by somebody who then died.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Oh jeez, we have a collar.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Let's see who's this hunter?
- 14:05Speaker 2: Hunter?
- 14:05Speaker 1: H Hunter? How are you all right?
- 14:08Speaker 6: Well?
- 14:09Speaker 1: What are you extraordinarily bad at? Hunter?
- 14:12Speaker 6: Returning things that I don't need that I buy. I
- 14:15Speaker 6: have like a hardware that I bought last year that
- 14:20Speaker 6: that didn't work for me, but I ever returned it,
- 14:22Speaker 6: so I'm stuck with it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: You know, that's money you could be casing.
- 14:27Speaker 4: That's just like you have to look at it when
- 14:29Speaker 4: you see it, like that's a stack of cash sitting there.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Maybe maybe you could sell it on eBay or something.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, it's Hunter, see you later.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Yep, let's see.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I have done that though, purchase something that turned out
- 14:47Speaker 1: to be kind of the wrong, yeah thing, and then
- 14:49Speaker 1: I just I should take this back.
- 14:51Speaker 3: And then it's so easy to return things anymore though.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 14:55Speaker 3: It really is. Like if you buy stuff on Amazon,
- 14:58Speaker 3: you can just go to Whole Food Boots.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah oh really, Oh yeah, they have a whole counter there,
- 15:04Speaker 4: or they will take your Amazon returns.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It's so easy.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You don't even have to put it in a box.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Or them, Oh it's great. Cool.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Let's see, I'm extraordinarily bad at ordering food at the
- 15:19Speaker 4: drive through. When we get to the speaker and my
- 15:21Speaker 4: kids call out what they want, I get completely overwhelmed
- 15:24Speaker 4: and my wife has to tell me.
- 15:25Speaker 3: One by one what everybody's stop.
- 15:28Speaker 1: One at a time.
- 15:28Speaker 5: Look, I don't we don't have kids, and my husband
- 15:30Speaker 5: still gets like that.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Sometimes.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Somebody says Bill is bad at remembering my name? Is
- 15:36Speaker 4: that from Tanner?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Tanner? He's raising his hand.
- 15:42Speaker 5: The one behind you that was giving a thumbs up.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he gave me the thumbs up, Elden.
