Latest / Wicked and Grim: A True Crime Podcast / John Lang Predicts His Own Death
Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: The Internet is a fantastic place to find debates. Many are,
- 0:11Speaker 1: of course, not necessarily worth a time, but occasionally you
- 0:16Speaker 1: find two sides of a story that just draw you.
- 0:20Speaker 1: In the story of John Lang is one of them.
- 0:25Speaker 1: John was a man who found himself uncovering the truths
- 0:28Speaker 1: of corruption in his city. Some say he was just paranoid,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and they didn't really believe him, but when he seemingly
- 0:36Speaker 1: predicted his own death, it became almost impossible to deny
- 0:40Speaker 1: that he may have been on to something.
- 0:44Speaker 2: My name's Ben and I'm Nicole and you're listening to
- 0:47Speaker 2: Wicked and Grim.
- 0:49Speaker 1: A true crime podcast.
- 0:54Speaker 3: The following podcast and material in our audience listener discuss.
- 1:21Speaker 2: So I didn't get that memo?
- 1:23Speaker 1: What memo?
- 1:26Speaker 2: That memo?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Ohkay? Well's you're up opening that one? Thanks? Sounding good?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah that was probably my best one.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah, probably. So we're chilling down in Victoria. This episode
- 1:37Speaker 1: is a little bit late because we did all the
- 1:39Speaker 1: research everything while on vacation. But what's really cool is
- 1:44Speaker 1: we're staying in an airbnb right now. And do you
- 1:47Speaker 1: want to tell.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Them no, your own a role? Keep going.
- 1:50Speaker 1: We just started. How am I on a roll?
- 1:51Speaker 2: I don't know you sound good.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Okay, Well, this airbnb we're living in for the next
- 1:56Speaker 1: few days here was built in nineteen twelve and chilling
- 2:00Speaker 1: on some farm property. This is an old farmhouse.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of been they've redone it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: They have it's quite lovely, but there is a very
- 2:10Speaker 1: mysterious and odd looking basement door to like the underneath area.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure there's at least four or five bodies
- 2:18Speaker 1: buried in the walls of this home potentially.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I thought you were gonna talk about the lizards.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Oh, there's a lizards fucking everywhere here. Anyone from Victoria?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Since when have you had fucking lizards here?
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, they're everywhere. I didn't know that, even apparently downtown.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently I didn't realize that anywhere in Canada had
- 2:38Speaker 1: legit like lizards. Sure, salamanders and like amphibians and shit
- 2:41Speaker 1: and snakes, but lizards.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And they've invaded. They're all over there.
- 2:47Speaker 1: They're invasive species. So it's it's interesting.
- 2:50Speaker 2: But bends in like lizard Heaven.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I fucking love lizards.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And I'm just like, please don't touch me. But they're
- 2:58Speaker 2: too fast, you wouldn't. You can't even get to them.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Really, Oh they're so quick. Yeah, so quick. I think like,
- 3:03Speaker 1: if you're going to actually like try and catch one
- 3:04Speaker 1: of these lizards, you need like a butterfly net.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Or something something. Yeah. But we've actually really I was
- 3:09Speaker 2: just gonna say, really lucked out on all of our
- 3:12Speaker 2: are Airbnb's hotels this trip, Like we have, we've done good.
- 3:18Speaker 1: We stayed stayed in like a heritage place in Vancouver
- 3:21Speaker 1: that again is probably like early nineteen.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Hundred yet least, and they were just so lovely and
- 3:26Speaker 2: nice and accommodating and.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Uh yeah, so and places some cool places.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah. The place that we were in Colemos wasn't. It
- 3:34Speaker 2: was like a converted garage made into an airb It
- 3:36Speaker 2: was still really nice, but not really like the heritage
- 3:39Speaker 2: to it.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But no, ac that fucking sucked.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was our northern asses, couldn't hap.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, we were melting, that's for sure. So do you
- 3:49Speaker 1: want to just like dive right into this one? Yeah? Okay,
- 3:51Speaker 1: we got we got patrons to thank first up before
- 3:53Speaker 1: we and then we'll dive in. Okay, so we're gonna
- 3:55Speaker 1: thank patrons. So we have Dawson, I'm going to butcher
- 3:59Speaker 1: your last name, but I'm going to try you got
- 4:01Speaker 1: this Zaya Joson Zaya Okay, Lexis Costa, Kato Cato full
- 4:09Speaker 1: Kato fll Zindia hair Rara. You guys are like, I
- 4:15Speaker 1: swear you're putting me to the test. You're like, my
- 4:17Speaker 1: name is gonna be difficult for him to pronounce because
- 4:19Speaker 1: he's terrible at this. So I'm gonna sign up for Patreon.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that's what they do every time. Oh
- 4:23Speaker 1: my goodness, we have Janine Wilson and Sarah Joe Larson.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Awesome, thank you so much.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So much for joining us over on Patreon. They're gonna
- 4:31Speaker 1: be able to have access to that that after show
- 4:36Speaker 1: post chat that we're gonna have with this one.
- 4:38Speaker 2: And then it's the end of the month soon too,
- 4:40Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It is so there's gonna be an extra case coming up.
- 4:42Speaker 1: H okay, so under the case.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So I do know full disclosure a little bit about
- 4:49Speaker 2: this one. It's very bizarre, but I'm excited to like
- 4:53Speaker 2: kind of do a bit of a deeper dive because
- 4:54Speaker 2: I don't think I know all the dates.
- 4:56Speaker 1: So there's I mean, there's so many details with this one.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I had to omit some because if I were to
- 5:03Speaker 1: be talking about all the details I would be talking about,
- 5:07Speaker 1: for example, police history for like two whole episodes, So
- 5:12Speaker 1: we can't be doing that. That's just far too much.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So I'm kind of skimming over talking about the main ones,
- 5:18Speaker 1: some top one sort of thing. But other than that,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I definitely do go into some pretty deepcare depth on
- 5:23Speaker 1: this one too as well. So hey, let's do it well.
- 5:26Speaker 1: This case is the case of John Paul lang So.
- 5:30Speaker 1: John was a fifty one year old former US marine.
- 5:36Speaker 1: John resided in the beautiful, warm city of Fresno, California.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He was a hard, hardworking individual and made an honest
- 5:43Speaker 1: living working at payless breaks and tires.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Okay, right on, John, Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Doing his thing, you know, blue collar job, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: a little respect in his life sort of thing, getting
- 5:53Speaker 1: a little dirty, just doing his thing. And I mean
- 5:56Speaker 1: it may not have been the most glamorous job, like
- 5:58Speaker 1: I said, a little bit more blue collar, but he
- 6:00Speaker 1: earned an honest living and he was happy. So John
- 6:04Speaker 1: unfortunately had been divorced. He was previously married to a
- 6:07Speaker 1: woman by the name of Almah. But as some relationships go,
- 6:11Speaker 1: they begin to grow apart, and they officially separated in
- 6:14Speaker 1: twenty eleven. So between the two of them, they did
- 6:18Speaker 1: have a child together, and the child would go on
- 6:22Speaker 1: to live in with the mother after the separation. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: didn't really go in to figure out if it was
- 6:27Speaker 1: a daughter or son, A little irrelevant for the story,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but they did have a child together, so before their separation,
- 6:34Speaker 1: though before the divorce did eventually kick in, John was
- 6:37Speaker 1: living his life minding his own business and would go
- 6:39Speaker 1: about his days at work and returning home during two
- 6:42Speaker 1: thousand and nine when this all began to start, So
- 6:47Speaker 1: he was out doing his thing one particular day when
- 6:49Speaker 1: something peculiar caught his eye. Now, perhaps what happened to
- 6:54Speaker 1: John in the coming few years and this day would
- 6:58Speaker 1: be the catalyst for eventual divorce in twenty eleven.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh, okay, it's already something that I didn't wasn't really
- 7:05Speaker 2: quite aware of it's.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Potential, Okay, But what did happen was this one day
- 7:11Speaker 1: John was at the grocery store. He was coming out
- 7:13Speaker 1: into the parking lot and he noticed something odd with
- 7:16Speaker 1: police cruisers in the parking lot. So he actually eventually
- 7:19Speaker 1: left the parking lot and he got pulled over outside
- 7:22Speaker 1: of the parking lot, a routine traffic stop and he
- 7:24Speaker 1: got a a citation, okay, And John was a little
- 7:28Speaker 1: bit perturbed by this. He's all like, well, who whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Weren't you guys just like cruising through the parking lot
- 7:33Speaker 1: and didn't you just follow me out of the parking lot?
- 7:35Speaker 1: And how is this a routine traffic stop? Seems like
- 7:39Speaker 1: you're kind of stalking me or something like. This isn't
- 7:41Speaker 1: very fair here. So after he got home, he started
- 7:44Speaker 1: doing a little bit of online digging and what he
- 7:46Speaker 1: discovered that this situation was that the police cars were
- 7:49Speaker 1: in fact illegally stalking citizens. The patrol cars were going
- 7:53Speaker 1: into parking lots and running the license plates of vehicles
- 7:57Speaker 1: that were parked, and they would do so until they
- 7:59Speaker 1: found someone with something on their record, say an outstanding
- 8:03Speaker 1: parking ticket, an expired license, an arrest warrant, who knows whatever, right,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and then they would target that individual. They would wait
- 8:12Speaker 1: for them to leave the parking lot, get back into
- 8:14Speaker 1: their vehicle whatever, yeah, and then the police would follow
- 8:17Speaker 1: them a few blocks and then pull them over for
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know, a routine traffic stop.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Really yeah, and this is of course illegal entrapment.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that would be.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Because, for example, you're sitting there saying, this person has
- 8:35Speaker 1: an expired license. Okay, but they're not driving yet, but
- 8:38Speaker 1: I'm going to sit here and wait and wait for
- 8:40Speaker 1: them to drive. You can't. You technically can't be doing that.
- 8:43Speaker 2: It's almost like kind of doing the easy route, like
- 8:46Speaker 2: kind of it's any like the easy button for their
- 8:49Speaker 2: job kind of it is, but it's.
- 8:51Speaker 1: It's entrapment, is what this is. So it's highly illegal.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Police cannot be doing that. So the police, sorry, the
- 8:58Speaker 1: Fresno Police actually worked on a quota system. The more
- 9:01Speaker 1: arrests that they made, the more money they would make
- 9:04Speaker 1: in return.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 9:05Speaker 1: So essentially they are trying to raise their quota. Like
- 9:08Speaker 1: you say, an easy button, an easy way to get
- 9:10Speaker 1: higher numbers, aka an easy way to have our money come.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So John, figuring this out, began making posts that he
- 9:20Speaker 1: witnessed this so again posting on Facebook.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I just have to say, though, that's almost a little
- 9:24Speaker 2: bit like he's kind of things outside the box a
- 9:27Speaker 2: little for him to even like realize and notice this
- 9:30Speaker 2: and take note.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yep, he does. Yeah, So he was on Facebook telling
- 9:35Speaker 1: everyone that he, you know, he did notice this. He's like, hey,
- 9:37Speaker 1: you know, I figure this out. This is what they're doing.
- 9:39Speaker 1: It's kind of basically a scam that the police are running.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And he also took to the Fresno B website. Now,
- 9:46Speaker 1: the Fresno B is a local newspaper, and he was
- 9:49Speaker 1: commenting on many of their articles saying, Hey, you know what,
- 9:51Speaker 1: this is what I discovered. The Fresno police are kind
- 9:55Speaker 1: of running this quasi scam. You guys should run a
- 9:58Speaker 1: story in this, look into it, research it, what ever? Right,
- 10:00Speaker 1: trying to get like the voice out there. Wow. No
- 10:05Speaker 1: one however, took John seriously, and his comments and Facebook
- 10:10Speaker 1: posts all fell on deaf years.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Really, Okay, I'm a little bit surprised by that. Well,
- 10:15Speaker 2: that no one would kind of. I mean, I feel
- 10:18Speaker 2: like nowadays, lots of times people see stuff like that
- 10:20Speaker 2: and just take it and run.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And that's true. But I do want to play Devil's
- 10:24Speaker 1: advocate here, and I'm going to do it a couple
- 10:25Speaker 1: times in this case, potentially with people not liking my
- 10:31Speaker 1: opinions or not even opinions, but Devil's advocate here. Okay,
- 10:34Speaker 1: so bear that in mind. I'm simply playing Devil's advocate
- 10:37Speaker 1: with this one. As far as I could find John
- 10:40Speaker 1: had no proof to back up his claims that he
- 10:44Speaker 1: was seeing officers stalking people in the parking lots, So
- 10:48Speaker 1: I can't really blame anyone for necessarily not taking him seriously.
- 10:51Speaker 1: All he's saying is I saw this. Okay, where's the proof?
- 10:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 10:57Speaker 1: How do you know this is actually happening?
- 10:59Speaker 2: So it could it could almost have just been like
- 11:02Speaker 2: a coincidence.
- 11:03Speaker 1: It could have been maybe there was an officer who
- 11:05Speaker 1: on his lunch break was going in and buying a
- 11:07Speaker 1: bag of bread because he or beggels for the morning, right, Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: And then John pulls out of the parking lot and
- 11:13Speaker 1: two blocks later got pulled over by maybe a similar
- 11:16Speaker 1: looking officer.
- 11:17Speaker 2: And it was just completely random o sorts.
- 11:20Speaker 1: So I'm not saying John is lying. I'm not saying
- 11:23Speaker 1: John is wrong, but I'm saying John doesn't have evidence
- 11:27Speaker 1: to back up his claims.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Okay, So it's not like he had at that point
- 11:30Speaker 2: seen this prior to or or something. At this point,
- 11:35Speaker 2: he's kind of just pissy that he got a ticket.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Potentially, John could be right, This could be exactly what's happening.
- 11:40Speaker 1: He just doesn't have the evidence to show anyone else
- 11:43Speaker 1: this is factual.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So in the same breath, though, the Fresnel Police Department
- 11:50Speaker 1: didn't exactly have the greatest reputation, so it's not surprising
- 11:52Speaker 1: if they were to do something like this. Okay, So
- 11:58Speaker 1: many actually believe that the Fresnel Police Department is one
- 12:00Speaker 1: of the most corrupt police departments in the United States,
- 12:05Speaker 1: really one of the most corrupt. It's been plagued by
- 12:09Speaker 1: corruption and police brutality throughout much of its one hundred
- 12:13Speaker 1: and thirty year history. According to federal and state investigators.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Up to the late nineteen seventies, Fresno police chiefs so
- 12:24Speaker 1: successors after another made a habit of connecting and dealing
- 12:29Speaker 1: with Vice Lords, which were a notorious and infamous street
- 12:31Speaker 1: gang that was started in nineteen fifty. So they made
- 12:34Speaker 1: connections with these guys, and they made dealings with the gang,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and they were able to make a massive amount of
- 12:41Speaker 1: money by turning a blind eye and being a part
- 12:43Speaker 1: of the gang operations.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yes serious, Yes, so much so.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That these police officers were able to buy huge vineyards,
- 12:52Speaker 1: horse ranches all for their own personal properties.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Okay, that is like super fucked yes wow, I mean
- 13:01Speaker 2: some people listening and would probably not be super surprised
- 13:05Speaker 2: by that. But that's bad.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It is very bad.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Wow.
- 13:10Speaker 1: One chief, for example, would eventually find himself in federal
- 13:13Speaker 1: prison for tax evasion. In the late nineteen eighties, one officer,
- 13:17Speaker 1: officer Jerry Dyer, had allegations against him of raping a
- 13:22Speaker 1: teenage girl while being employed with the department.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Okay, that's that's quite the allegation there.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I don't know if the allegation was ever gone past
- 13:33Speaker 1: a simple allegation or if there was any proof to
- 13:36Speaker 1: back it up. But after the allegation, he was promoted
- 13:39Speaker 1: to sergeant shortly after and eventually became chief in two
- 13:42Speaker 1: thousand and one.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. So if that's true, that is so
- 13:45Speaker 2: disturbing and so disgusting. Yes, wow, you mean you hear
- 13:50Speaker 2: about it? Dirty cops, right, that's like basically what this is.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent.
- 13:56Speaker 2: That them being at a higher power and thinking that
- 13:59Speaker 2: their king shit and do whatever.
- 14:00Speaker 1: They want, right exactly, so, taking bribes, taking money, dealing
- 14:04Speaker 1: drugs of course, taking advantage of individuals. It seems to
- 14:07Speaker 1: be like countless stories of this sort of stuff involved
- 14:10Speaker 1: with the Fresnol Police.
- 14:11Speaker 2: That's so sad.
- 14:13Speaker 1: There's also police brutality. Over the past decade or so,
- 14:16Speaker 1: there have been an ungodly amount of lawsuits filed against
- 14:21Speaker 1: the department. There's been nearly two hundred lawsuits filed for
- 14:26Speaker 1: excessive force used. Now almost half of them were dismissed
- 14:30Speaker 1: by the judge too.
- 14:32Speaker 2: So maybe the judge isn't in on this too.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Potentially, well, there's potential of that. But I'm going to
- 14:37Speaker 1: play devil's advocate here. This is particularly the one where
- 14:40Speaker 1: I think people may not like what I have to say. Okay,
- 14:43Speaker 1: but bear in mind, it's not necessarily my opinion, it's
- 14:46Speaker 1: not necessarily fact. It's just I'm trying to get I'll
- 14:50Speaker 1: explain myself here shortly, and I'm going to play devil's
- 14:52Speaker 1: advocate and I'll explain because it'll make better sense that way.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So excessive force is not something that's justifiable, you know that.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I'm going after the other half here, But the just
- 15:04Speaker 1: judge sided with the officer saying it was not excessive force.
- 15:08Speaker 1: So Fresnel crime rate is at five hundred and ninety
- 15:11Speaker 1: four point four per one hundred thousand of the population,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and the national average in the US is three hundred
- 15:18Speaker 1: and ninety five point seven per one hundred thousand of
- 15:21Speaker 1: the population.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Okay, so they actually have more crime there.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yes, at higher crime rate, higher crime rate above the
- 15:27Speaker 1: national average in Fresno, California. At times, appropriate force may
- 15:33Speaker 1: be needed for a situation, right, we can understand that
- 15:36Speaker 1: appropriate appropriate force. Now that's a very subjective term appropriate
- 15:40Speaker 1: force is, but appropriate force may be needed for a situation.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So appropriate force is easy to judge in hindsight. But
- 15:50Speaker 1: in the heat of a moment, an officer may come
- 15:52Speaker 1: close to that line of excessive force. Right. It may
- 15:56Speaker 1: happen even I'm assuming here it's not a corupt officer.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Think the perfect police officer, okay, cookie cutter, exactly what
- 16:04Speaker 1: a citizen would want. It could potentially be easy for
- 16:07Speaker 1: him to come close to that line in a heated situation.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Well, I mean their jobs are scary at
- 16:13Speaker 2: times too, and like their lives and stuff are on
- 16:16Speaker 2: the line.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Right, So they have someone coming in swinging out watching
- 16:19Speaker 1: him a weapon of some sort, force is going to
- 16:21Speaker 1: be necessary, and that excessive might like not say it's
- 16:26Speaker 1: right to do so, but it could be reasonable to
- 16:29Speaker 1: think that you might get close to that accidentally in
- 16:31Speaker 1: the heat of a moment. So we have higher crime rates,
- 16:35Speaker 1: which means a higher potential for higher numbers of coming
- 16:41Speaker 1: close to that excessive force okay accidentally, and we're also
- 16:49Speaker 1: going to have a higher number of lawsuits actually being filed.
- 16:56Speaker 1: So what I'm trying to basically say is that those
- 16:59Speaker 1: ones that the judge may have very well been situations
- 17:02Speaker 1: where the officers use force and was not a corrupt asshole.
- 17:06Speaker 1: It may not be a corrupt judge. Maybe it legitimately
- 17:09Speaker 1: was simple force was used, a little bit more force
- 17:13Speaker 1: had to be used, and it was appropriate. And then
- 17:16Speaker 1: we have individuals that are fighting it saying, hey, it
- 17:19Speaker 1: was excessive, but it's like, no one actually really was
- 17:21Speaker 1: necessary in the situation. Yeah, So assuming all these excessive
- 17:26Speaker 1: force pieces that the judge throughout, let's assume those were
- 17:31Speaker 1: not actually excessive force. I'm going to assume that the
- 17:33Speaker 1: judge is not corrupt. Okay, That's what I'm basically trying
- 17:36Speaker 1: to say.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Well, and I was also see my mind went somewhere
- 17:39Speaker 2: a little bit differently. It was just basically like if
- 17:43Speaker 2: there's an allegation against a police officer, that's like a
- 17:46Speaker 2: really big deal on a big can kind of being
- 17:48Speaker 2: open too right, and so I don't know exactly where
- 17:53Speaker 2: I'm going here, but like the judge could be not
- 17:56Speaker 2: wanting to like open that can. For each one of
- 17:59Speaker 2: these they have a problem where they have a higher
- 18:02Speaker 2: crime rate and in the heat of the moment or
- 18:05Speaker 2: adrenaline or whatever, they're you know, they're they're having to
- 18:08Speaker 2: do things that maybe they could learn from or change
- 18:12Speaker 2: in the future. But the judge isn't wanting to like
- 18:15Speaker 2: go there, you know what, do you know what I mean?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Kind of well, and I know exactly what you mean.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And there's a reason why, a specific reason why I
- 18:22Speaker 1: really wanted to touch on this. I think it's really
- 18:26Speaker 1: important to talk about this, especially with conspiracy cases, because
- 18:29Speaker 1: conspiracies get out of control. Generally, when someone really believes
- 18:33Speaker 1: in one side, they will skip over or purposely misinterpret
- 18:37Speaker 1: information on the other side to really paint their picture.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Okay, So there's no allegations even of a
- 18:43Speaker 1: judge being corrupt here. Okay, So that's what I want
- 18:46Speaker 1: to say. I'm like, don't make that assumption that it's
- 18:48Speaker 1: a corrupt corrupt judge. It's a difficult situation, difficult town.
- 18:52Speaker 2: The higher crime rate, higher cases going through him, like,
- 18:56Speaker 2: you know, higher allegations, like, yeah, we kind of I
- 18:58Speaker 2: get what you're you're totally saying.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So I think it's really important to consider the facts
- 19:02Speaker 1: basically on an unbiased opinion. So that being said, the
- 19:05Speaker 1: police did some serious shitty stuff.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yes, there was still some people in there that were
- 19:11Speaker 2: not peer yes one to put it nicely, yes.
- 19:18Speaker 1: So back off that here, back onto some more shitty
- 19:22Speaker 1: stuff the police officers, actually we know they did.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Okay.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Police officer Brian Ridner was arrested in a sex working
- 19:30Speaker 1: staying in June of twenty ten, where he quote will
- 19:34Speaker 1: be placed on modified duties pending the outcome of the
- 19:38Speaker 1: internal affairs investigation.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Okay, so what does that even mean? Like he was
- 19:44Speaker 2: caught with a sex worker?
- 19:45Speaker 1: No, like he was operating a sex ring, Like he
- 19:48Speaker 1: was like pemping people basically for a lack off. Yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 1: that's bad. Yeah, so it was like a whole online
- 19:56Speaker 1: type thing.
- 19:56Speaker 2: That he had going whoa Okay.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Former police detective Darren Kumaggie pleaded guilty in February of
- 20:04Speaker 1: twenty fifteen on charges of accepting a twenty thousand dollars
- 20:08Speaker 1: bribe from a drug trafficker.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Oh my, gosh, I mean, twenty thousand dollars a way
- 20:15Speaker 2: in front of her. It would be hard to turn down.
- 20:19Speaker 2: But there is an ethics there, there's an asshole.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Would there be corrupt as fuck? O?
- 20:24Speaker 2: Heay, No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying
- 20:26Speaker 2: twenty thousands a lot of money.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But you just outed yourself.
- 20:30Speaker 2: You gotta consider the ethics.
- 20:32Speaker 1: So no, yes, nice safe, nice safe the ethics. No
- 20:39Speaker 1: that that's definitely bad that you don't accept that.
- 20:41Speaker 2: No, no, bride.
- 20:43Speaker 1: In March of twenty fifteen, Deputy Chief Keith Keith Foster
- 20:47Speaker 1: peddled heroin and marijuana. He was sentenced in twenty seventeen
- 20:50Speaker 1: to forty eight months in prison. October twenty fifteen, Officer
- 20:54Speaker 1: William Wyatt received probation over prison time for raping a
- 20:58Speaker 1: woman who was unconscious. Whoa The list goes on. As
- 21:03Speaker 1: I mentioned, I admitted a lot of this because there
- 21:05Speaker 1: is far too many to talk about.
- 21:08Speaker 2: And well a lot of those are quite bad too, yes,
- 21:12Speaker 2: And the fact that, like, I don't know, the one
- 21:14Speaker 2: mit you mentioned was like forty eight months, that's not
- 21:17Speaker 2: very long. No, I feel like they should almost get well.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I don't know if I should say that I was
- 21:21Speaker 2: almost thinking they should get longer sentences.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Almost because they're an officer.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Well yeah, because they are the ones like they should
- 21:29Speaker 2: be held at a higher.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Standard almost they're supposed to be upholding the law.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so geez, so yeah, it's kind of a problem. Yeah,
- 21:38Speaker 2: this is a problem there.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah. So basically, in short, the Fresno police officers are
- 21:47Speaker 1: absolutely so corrupt, but that like they're like one percent
- 21:51Speaker 1: less corrupt because of that argument made earlier, Okay the
- 21:54Speaker 1: judge maybe not of necessarily being corrupt. I don't it's
- 21:57Speaker 1: such a small portion, but it's I just feel like
- 22:00Speaker 1: it's important to still talk about those one percent pieces.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Ah well, I mean there, Yeah, I'm sure there was
- 22:07Speaker 2: some police officers in that force that were amazing.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Oh definitely. Yeah. So moving forward, as you guys continue
- 22:13Speaker 1: to listen to this, I do want you to kind
- 22:15Speaker 1: of keep an eye open or an ear open, and
- 22:17Speaker 1: really pay attention to not trying to be biased on
- 22:20Speaker 1: certain things, because that is really important in this case. Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 1: So John was certain he found them doing, of course,
- 22:27Speaker 1: more shady stuff, the whole license plate running little scam
- 22:31Speaker 1: they had going on, but no one believed him. This, however,
- 22:35Speaker 1: is where the story really takes a bit of a
- 22:36Speaker 1: nod turn. Since he had basically blown the whistle online
- 22:41Speaker 1: about the police allegedly potentially with their operation, he found
- 22:46Speaker 1: themselves he found himself being targeted by the Fresno Police Force. Okay,
- 22:51Speaker 1: so what he'd do is both to basically offer proof
- 22:55Speaker 1: and to watch his own back. John would install security
- 22:58Speaker 1: cameras around his property, and over the course of a
- 23:01Speaker 1: total of almost seven years, John was able to accumulate
- 23:05Speaker 1: footage of the alleged police harassments. They would to quote him,
- 23:11Speaker 1: harass and intimidate him.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, that's scary, it is.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't imagine having that situation. And I understand
- 23:22Speaker 1: there's so many people in the world today who feel
- 23:25Speaker 1: very much so like John. They don't have the police
- 23:28Speaker 1: to turn to, and that is such a scary thought.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Well yeah, because then it's like, well, who else do
- 23:33Speaker 2: you have to turn to? Right, right?
- 23:35Speaker 1: It's terrifying. Oh yeah, And so this is what happens
- 23:39Speaker 1: if you are dealing with corrupt individuals in a authority figure,
- 23:46Speaker 1: police force sort of position.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, or you'd kind of have a lack of trust
- 23:50Speaker 2: or something there.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yep. So John basically decided to take this all
- 23:53Speaker 1: online right, trying to blow the whistle on Facebook where
- 23:56Speaker 1: he could. And what he would do is he would
- 23:58Speaker 1: create a YouTube channel for himself called lang Marine and
- 24:01Speaker 1: the YouTube channel is still up today and this is
- 24:04Speaker 1: where he would upload a total of seventeen videos from
- 24:07Speaker 1: his home security footage. The first video he posted was
- 24:10Speaker 1: from January thirteenth in twenty fourteen, where it shows a
- 24:16Speaker 1: silver or kind of a white pickup truck. Some people
- 24:18Speaker 1: say white, some say silver. I'm pretty sure it's silver,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but anyways, it drives by his house and like slows
- 24:24Speaker 1: down and then kind of picks up and drives away again.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And then moments later it returns again to drive by.
- 24:32Speaker 1: It doesn't slow down this time, but it does drive
- 24:34Speaker 1: by a second time. So John would write and believe
- 24:38Speaker 1: that this is an unmarked police vehicle and he'd actually
- 24:41Speaker 1: seen this vehicle follow him around town many times. He
- 24:46Speaker 1: also received a phone call shortly after the drive by,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and as soon as he answered the phone, the person
- 24:51Speaker 1: on the other end click hung up.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Okay, that's a bit alarming, a little for sure. Okay,
- 24:58Speaker 2: I don't mean I should probably save this later, but
- 25:00Speaker 2: I'm just gonna throw one tiny little tidbit out go
- 25:03Speaker 2: for it, so I don't forget is basically it kind
- 25:06Speaker 2: of also seems like the police department had friends in
- 25:10Speaker 2: scary places too, so that when I think, when I
- 25:14Speaker 2: what initially popped my head is it was like it
- 25:16Speaker 2: could be you know, like the they had like drug
- 25:20Speaker 2: trafficking relationships or whatever, and it was like them just
- 25:24Speaker 2: like trying to scare this guy that was like going
- 25:27Speaker 2: off online kind of thing.
- 25:29Speaker 1: That entire time you were talking Garth Brooks was playing
- 25:31Speaker 1: in my head. Why I've got friends?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Okay, that's why.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But no, I definitely agree there is a very high
- 25:39Speaker 1: potential of it. Yeah, not necessarily being the officers, but yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 1: being there they're friends.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And yeah, so that's what I was kind of thought
- 25:47Speaker 2: when I heard like this truck going by sort of thing.
- 25:49Speaker 2: So yeah, but let's see what else happens here.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Well, each one of his uploaded videos does contain a
- 25:54Speaker 1: lengthy written explanation in the description, Okay, basically in what
- 25:57Speaker 1: John believes is going on in the clip. He's got
- 26:00Speaker 1: seventeen videos, so I'm not going to sit here and
- 26:02Speaker 1: describe to you each and every one of his videos, right,
- 26:05Speaker 1: But basically, some clips show police vehicles driving by. Others
- 26:09Speaker 1: show suspicious unmarked vehicles driving by. Some are more than
- 26:15Speaker 1: just drive bys. Really. There are clips of police making
- 26:18Speaker 1: arrests outside his house. There's videos of individuals attempting to
- 26:24Speaker 1: break into his property, oh wow, and alleged gaps in
- 26:28Speaker 1: his security footage where he claims the cameras were tampered
- 26:30Speaker 1: with or hacked.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Okay, that's I don't like that.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, there are all allegedly as far as John is concerned,
- 26:41Speaker 1: coming from the Fresno police.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Okay, so he's very convinced.
- 26:46Speaker 1: He's very convinced. Now, many people who heard John's story
- 26:49Speaker 1: at this time played him off as paranoid or even
- 26:52Speaker 1: potentially schizophrenic. But one video that John captured may may
- 26:57Speaker 1: very well be so convincing that it may be even
- 27:02Speaker 1: able to change the mind of someone who's super skeptical.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Ok So, this video, in particular, the caption begins by
- 27:10Speaker 1: saying this, This is quoted right off his YouTube channel,
- 27:13Speaker 1: his writing, this is the same Fresno, California sheriff crew
- 27:19Speaker 1: that has been illegally entering my property and home when
- 27:22Speaker 1: I leave my house. Here they are using an infrared
- 27:26Speaker 1: thermal imager to see if I am home. They then
- 27:29Speaker 1: phone a waiting second party with information as to whether
- 27:33Speaker 1: or not I am home. Fresno Police Department fails to
- 27:36Speaker 1: fully investigate my complaint on this incident, which I fully
- 27:40Speaker 1: detailed in my Fresno Police Department internal affairs complaint. If
- 27:44Speaker 1: anyone can identify any of the Fresno Sheriff personnel in
- 27:48Speaker 1: this video, please forward their names. So the video was
- 27:53Speaker 1: taken on April fifteenth, twenty fifteen, and again his channel
- 27:58Speaker 1: is up. The video is there, you can watch. I'll
- 28:00Speaker 1: put in the description below, and it shows a black
- 28:03Speaker 1: van on the street on the other side of John's house.
- 28:06Speaker 1: The side door of the van is slit open, and
- 28:09Speaker 1: you can see a man holding an elaborate camera rig
- 28:12Speaker 1: pointed directly at John's house. This is no question that
- 28:16Speaker 1: it's a camera rig. This is plain as day. So
- 28:20Speaker 1: after a few moments, the man shuts the door of
- 28:23Speaker 1: the van, talks to someone in the front driver's seat
- 28:25Speaker 1: who is clearly also talking to someone on the cell phone,
- 28:28Speaker 1: and then they simply drive away. Oh man, the van
- 28:32Speaker 1: or men inside the van have never been identified.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Hmm, okay, well, I mean especially if that's happened. Okay,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I feel like I would notice that, be a bit alarmed,
- 28:43Speaker 2: for sure, But that if that was really the only thing,
- 28:47Speaker 2: you kind of probably you know, you'd make up, Oh
- 28:50Speaker 2: it's this happened, it was because of this, right, You
- 28:52Speaker 2: always make up different scenarios in your head or make
- 28:55Speaker 2: it seem okay. But if there was a bunch of
- 28:57Speaker 2: other things already happening and then that happens, shit, right,
- 29:03Speaker 2: like shit, I.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Mean it like shit, for sure. It's sketchy as fuck.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I do want to say one thing though, for sure,
- 29:09Speaker 1: because I know quite a bit about cameras, and so
- 29:11Speaker 1: do you. I'm almost positive this is not an infrared camera,
- 29:16Speaker 1: Like I am like ninety nine nine percent sure it's
- 29:20Speaker 1: not an infrared camera. It does appear to be like
- 29:22Speaker 1: a DSLR of some sort. Its like a digital like
- 29:25Speaker 1: a cannon or a Nikon camera, a high end one,
- 29:27Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. But it does seem to have
- 29:30Speaker 1: like a kind of a lower end cinema lens. And
- 29:32Speaker 1: it's all on a gimbal, so like a two handed
- 29:35Speaker 1: gimbals and steady, easy footage.
- 29:37Speaker 2: And they're not filming the neighbors and stuff it's just
- 29:40Speaker 2: literally his.
- 29:41Speaker 1: House pointed directly at his house, and that's it.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, how can you justify that? I guess because
- 29:49Speaker 2: I mean if it was kind of this van was
- 29:52Speaker 2: driving and getting his neighbors too, then then you could
- 29:55Speaker 2: justify it. But just his house is kind of odd.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Well, there was a comment, and I didn't copy copy
- 30:02Speaker 1: it off Reddit, but I did find this one individual
- 30:04Speaker 1: talking about it. It's not a fool proof idea, but
- 30:09Speaker 1: it's not a bad potential explanation. They said, well, he's
- 30:13Speaker 1: been contacting news sources, right, what if it is a
- 30:17Speaker 1: local news source who is maybe getting clips of his
- 30:19Speaker 1: house or something to report the story. I mean we
- 30:22Speaker 1: just don't know. Yeah, but no one's come forward to
- 30:24Speaker 1: say it's them.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because even if he has this YouTube channel
- 30:29Speaker 2: and people are kind of aware of his allegations and stuff,
- 30:32Speaker 2: there are people out there that just like to fuck
- 30:34Speaker 2: with other people too. Yeah, and they and they, if
- 30:37Speaker 2: they found on his address, they could just be doing
- 30:39Speaker 2: shit to like scare him more.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Not just anyone has this camera gear though, especially we're
- 30:44Speaker 1: looking at twenty sixteen, I mean nowadays, yeah, but even
- 30:49Speaker 1: still even five years ago.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I did just want to mention though, because I'm pretty
- 30:55Speaker 1: sure this isn't infrared. I'm like ninety nine point nine
- 30:58Speaker 1: percent censure. John did say it's infrared, which to me
- 31:02Speaker 1: says John is jumping to conclusions in this incident. Oh Okay,
- 31:05Speaker 1: he's making.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Assumptions because he thinks it's it's there to check to
- 31:09Speaker 2: see if he's home.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Yes, I mean what if. What if it's a real
- 31:15Speaker 1: estate agent who's maybe making a video for houses in
- 31:18Speaker 1: the neighborhood and they just like the architecture in his
- 31:20Speaker 1: house and he went into this real estate agent's video.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I've honestly taken photos of people's houses
- 31:28Speaker 2: and stuff before because I'm like, oh, I like the
- 31:29Speaker 2: design of that. Yeah, and if they see you doing that,
- 31:32Speaker 2: they'd probably like what the fuck.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, But in this defense, this was like a crew.
- 31:36Speaker 1: There was like three.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a bit more than just some chick walking
- 31:40Speaker 2: by with a camera.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, he's to me, kind of jumping to
- 31:47Speaker 1: conclusions potentially in a little bit of at least this video,
- 31:50Speaker 1: potentially more.
- 31:51Speaker 2: But he's also scared at this point too.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Oh yes, thoroughly.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So the sum of his content posted it seems to
- 31:58Speaker 1: be that the police were not only stocking and intimidating him,
- 32:01Speaker 1: but also trying to set him up to be arrested
- 32:04Speaker 1: on charges. So he alleged in one of his online
- 32:07Speaker 1: posts that he believed the police had entered his home
- 32:09Speaker 1: while he was away one day and copied his hard drives.
- 32:14Speaker 1: His theory was that they were potentially wanting to set
- 32:17Speaker 1: him up on child pornography charges to get him arrested.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Okay, did he have that, No, but that that's what.
- 32:25Speaker 1: He's sitting here saying. He's like, they're probably trying to
- 32:27Speaker 1: do this. He's like, so if you see me like
- 32:29Speaker 1: this is going to come down here soon, I bet
- 32:31Speaker 1: you this is what could be what's happening. He's not
- 32:33Speaker 1: outing himself saying I'm like, I.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Got child are almost planting something just to get okay.
- 32:38Speaker 1: He's trying to stay one step ahead of the cops.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He's basically got like, I've got a copy of my
- 32:43Speaker 1: hard drives. They now have a copy, and they're planting
- 32:46Speaker 1: shit in my heart drives and when they arrest me,
- 32:48Speaker 1: they're going to say these are my heart drives.
- 32:50Speaker 2: To say that the police entered his home without you know,
- 32:54Speaker 2: a warrant or anything.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Is quite that's a heavy allegation.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that really is.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah, And I do want to say that, like John
- 33:01Speaker 1: wasn't certain on like saying, oh, they're definitely trying to
- 33:04Speaker 1: get me rested on child pornography charges. He's just saying, like,
- 33:07Speaker 1: it's probably gonna be something like this. They might be
- 33:09Speaker 1: trying to get another way. There was another one where
- 33:13Speaker 1: he saw a garbage truck drive by and his wife
- 33:15Speaker 1: had just recently been had her ex wife now by
- 33:19Speaker 1: this time, had had her purse stolen, and so he's like, well,
- 33:22Speaker 1: maybe check the neighbor's garbage cans and stuff like this, right,
- 33:25Speaker 1: because maybe like someone stole out of your car and
- 33:27Speaker 1: like dumped it and stole cash and dumped it in
- 33:29Speaker 1: a garbage can down the house, right, Yeah, And so
- 33:32Speaker 1: he's thinking his phones, all that sort of stuff is tapped. Now,
- 33:36Speaker 1: this garbage truck is driving by, which by the way,
- 33:39Speaker 1: did have police officers not far behind it, drive in
- 33:42Speaker 1: front of his house. He was thinking that what they
- 33:45Speaker 1: were going to do was plant the purse in his
- 33:48Speaker 1: garbage can with this garbage truck and the police were
- 33:50Speaker 1: going to come up and then catch him on that.
- 33:52Speaker 1: But he didn't have his garbage can out that day,
- 33:54Speaker 1: not yet, and he missed it.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 33:57Speaker 1: So he's coming up with these different theories on potential
- 33:59Speaker 1: things that they might be trying to do.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Okay, that, okay, I can kind of understand that one
- 34:06Speaker 2: a little bit. But it also seems like it's kind
- 34:08Speaker 2: of like an overactive imagination too. Potentially.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yes, definitely, I agree. He's really reaching for a lot here,
- 34:17Speaker 1: and many people believe the same sort of thing. Many
- 34:20Speaker 1: are like, he's like, something's going on, maybe mental health,
- 34:24Speaker 1: potential schizophrenic, as I said earlier, a severe paranoia, something's
- 34:29Speaker 1: going on, like this stuff isn't happening. But he's basically
- 34:32Speaker 1: their attitude. So one day, though, John's Facebook post became
- 34:37Speaker 1: much darker than anything he had posted before. John knew
- 34:41Speaker 1: that if the police weren't able to set him up
- 34:43Speaker 1: for a false arrest and get him on some charges
- 34:45Speaker 1: or whatever, there would only be one other way to
- 34:48Speaker 1: silence him. So on January fourteenth, twenty sixteen, he said
- 34:53Speaker 1: this in a Facebook post. Just wanted to give you
- 34:56Speaker 1: guys a heads up. If anything happens to me in
- 34:59Speaker 1: the next day or two, it will be the result
- 35:01Speaker 1: of the Fresno Police Department, my neighbor and an employee
- 35:04Speaker 1: yet my pay less breaks and tires on Blackstone, basically
- 35:10Speaker 1: saying something's gonna happen. These are the people responsible.
- 35:13Speaker 2: So wow.
- 35:14Speaker 1: He believed other people were corroborating and helping the police
- 35:16Speaker 1: with information on him and gaining access and stuff.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, is he saying I just need to clarify
- 35:21Speaker 2: something that his neighbors and his employer are also in
- 35:24Speaker 2: on this?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Well, he said, my neighbor and an employee at my job.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Okay, okay, so specific individuals, right, okay.
- 35:33Speaker 1: The next day, on the fifteenth, he reached out to
- 35:36Speaker 1: a reporter named Corn Hogard from Action News and on
- 35:40Speaker 1: Facebook he said, this, Cooran, you want some news. Corrupt
- 35:45Speaker 1: Fresno cops are going to try and kill me this weekend,
- 35:48Speaker 1: possibly tonight. This is no joke. Please follow up on
- 35:52Speaker 1: my story regardless of what happens or what version the
- 35:55Speaker 1: cops and the Fresno be come up with. Please check
- 35:59Speaker 1: out Jody Murray dot com and my YouTube site. Thank you. Oh,
- 36:05Speaker 1: I want to brush up on who Jody Murray is.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Jody Murray is from the Fresno b the police. I'd
- 36:09Speaker 1: sorry the newspaper. Okay, he was an individual who worked there,
- 36:12Speaker 1: and John believed was responsible for supplying his IP address
- 36:16Speaker 1: and many other people as well who would comment and
- 36:20Speaker 1: because I'm und okay, So when he originally approached the
- 36:23Speaker 1: Fresno b he's like, hey, you know, this is what's
- 36:25Speaker 1: happening with the little scam they're running. He believed this
- 36:28Speaker 1: individual was the one responsible for telling the police department
- 36:32Speaker 1: who he was via his IP address, and then they
- 36:35Speaker 1: re routed and started harassing him that way.
- 36:37Speaker 2: I wonder why he thought that, Like there had to
- 36:40Speaker 2: been a reason, you know. So that's interesting.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Yeah. On the sixteenth, he posted his last YouTube video.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It shows a white van parked in front of his
- 36:49Speaker 1: neighbor's house just right beside him. The van has a
- 36:52Speaker 1: business name across the side, Guarantee Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning.
- 36:56Speaker 1: A man can be seen standing next to the van
- 36:58Speaker 1: and glancing towards John's house a few times before shoving
- 37:03Speaker 1: a flyer in the neighbor's mailbox and driving away.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Okay, I look around a lot oddly, though, So I'm
- 37:10Speaker 2: just saying, like me, if someone were to watch me,
- 37:12Speaker 2: they'd probably think I'm up to no good.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Sometimes that's true. And I mean there is like a
- 37:16Speaker 1: phone number and a whole business thing on this and
- 37:18Speaker 1: people have tried to dive into this business. Apparently it
- 37:21Speaker 1: was absolved shortly after this case occurred. The website seemed
- 37:28Speaker 1: very like sketchy, like very little information on.
- 37:31Speaker 2: It, like it didn't exist.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Almost Some people have said it is legit business, maybe
- 37:36Speaker 1: just not a very well put together one or something.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Others are saying no, like not really, Well did.
- 37:43Speaker 2: They not give John a fly er too? Do they
- 37:44Speaker 2: just literally give it to the neighbor and.
- 37:46Speaker 1: That's it just the neighbor.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Oh okay, that's really weird. That's weird.
- 37:50Speaker 1: One neighbor too, that's a bit odd. Yeah. So John
- 37:53Speaker 1: posted that security footage with that guy in that van
- 37:56Speaker 1: on his YouTube video that was his last one posted,
- 37:59Speaker 1: and it went along with this caption, if I turn
- 38:01Speaker 1: up missing or dead tomorrow, remember this van. I think
- 38:04Speaker 1: I seen a couple guys sneak in the side door
- 38:07Speaker 1: and into the building where it was parked in the
- 38:09Speaker 1: carport this afternoon. I've been causing the city of Fresno
- 38:14Speaker 1: a lot of problems recently, which I now regret. Sign
- 38:18Speaker 1: on the door said guarantee carpet cleaning Fresno.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, he should almost leave if he literally
- 38:26Speaker 2: thinks that he's about to die here. He needs to
- 38:28Speaker 2: like go on our little vacation and get the shit
- 38:30Speaker 2: out of there.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Well, he did kind of reach out for help a
- 38:32Speaker 1: little bit, like he's saying this sort of stuff online, right, right,
- 38:35Speaker 1: And he also posted and asked for some help from
- 38:38Speaker 1: friends and family on Facebook. He posted and said, anyone
- 38:42Speaker 1: want to crash at my pad tonight must be a
- 38:44Speaker 1: legal gun owner. I think the bad guys might come
- 38:47Speaker 1: and get me tonight, Oh my gosh. And then someone
- 38:51Speaker 1: responded on that post saying wtf, and he went and
- 38:55Speaker 1: commented back, totally serious, Any serious patriots out there. I've
- 39:00Speaker 1: seen a couple of guys sneak into the vacant building
- 39:02Speaker 1: next to me. I've been under some threats recently because
- 39:05Speaker 1: of my activism lately.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Okay, he's so scared, he is, but he maybe he doesn't.
- 39:11Speaker 2: He literally doesn't have anywhere else to go.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's possible. Well, four days after that post, on January twentieth,
- 39:18Speaker 1: John was found dead in his home.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he basically predicted he.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Did so death he really really did.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Wow.
- 39:30Speaker 1: So on January twentieth, twenty sixteen, Fresnel Fire Department responded
- 39:34Speaker 1: to a fire at six four eight North van Ness
- 39:37Speaker 1: Avenue in Fresno, which is John's house after having to
- 39:41Speaker 1: force their way inside due to John securing the home
- 39:44Speaker 1: very well because.
- 39:45Speaker 2: He was scared shitless exactly.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, firefighters found John laying on the floor in the
- 39:50Speaker 1: kitchen of his home. John did not burn to death, however,
- 39:55Speaker 1: he did have multiple stab wounds. There were medical personnel
- 40:01Speaker 1: who did attemptal attempt medical attention on John, but he
- 40:05Speaker 1: was eventually pronounced dead a short time later at the
- 40:07Speaker 1: Fresne Community Regional Medical Center.
- 40:10Speaker 2: So he was locked in his house with stab booms.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Correct, that was on fire.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Okay, that's a lot to kind of just like process.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It is like a lot, it really is. Okay, I
- 40:26Speaker 2: need to hear a bit more about these stabs. Okay,
- 40:30Speaker 2: I'm trying to hear.
- 40:31Speaker 3: So.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Lieutenant Joe Gomez of the police Department's Public Information would
- 40:37Speaker 1: speak publicly about the incident and told the press that
- 40:40Speaker 1: John had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and
- 40:43Speaker 1: back and that his house was set on fire. It
- 40:48Speaker 1: seems like John had been attacked and of course murdered,
- 40:52Speaker 1: which is where all of our minds are going. Yeah,
- 40:55Speaker 1: but not only that, he of course predicted his own death.
- 40:58Speaker 1: He saw this coming.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he really did. Like there is a lot to
- 41:03Speaker 2: look back on there to see that.
- 41:05Speaker 1: The next piece, though, is really interesting. The story was
- 41:09Speaker 1: released to the public and then it suddenly changed. So
- 41:15Speaker 1: Tony Body was a spokesperson for the Fresno County Sheriff
- 41:18Speaker 1: and Corner. He said John had three superficial self inflicted
- 41:23Speaker 1: stab wounds to the chest and no cuts on his back,
- 41:26Speaker 1: despite what was initially reported to by law enforcement.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay, so that really changed because before it
- 41:34Speaker 2: wasn't like the abdomen in the back, correct, and now
- 41:37Speaker 2: there's superficial.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Three superficial ones to his chest.
- 41:40Speaker 2: But like, if he was trying to kill himself, what
- 41:42Speaker 2: would be the point of him doing that? Yeah, like
- 41:46Speaker 2: three superficial stab wounds to his chest. Yeah, that doesn't
- 41:51Speaker 2: make sense, it doesn't.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I mean everyone was literally confused, just like you are.
- 41:55Speaker 1: You're staring at me with a blank ster right now,
- 41:57Speaker 1: You're like, what the fuck been? I'm pretty sure that's
- 42:00Speaker 1: it's the same stare everyone had when they were watching
- 42:01Speaker 1: some TV and looking at their phones, like what the
- 42:03Speaker 1: fuck president?
- 42:04Speaker 2: Well, yeah, yeah, uh so.
- 42:06Speaker 1: They're basically, why was it reported that he had stab
- 42:09Speaker 1: wounds on his chest and his back and all of
- 42:11Speaker 1: a sudden, now it's changed to three superficial wounds on
- 42:14Speaker 1: his chest.
- 42:15Speaker 2: It's not really something even just take away one percent.
- 42:18Speaker 1: So Lieutenant Burke Farah, who's the head of the homicide unit,
- 42:21Speaker 1: said that it was incorrect information that was released at
- 42:24Speaker 1: the scene by Lieutenant Joe Gomez and he basically just
- 42:27Speaker 1: made a mistake. It's a pretty significant mistake to make.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah, is that did that lieutenant get fired because he
- 42:37Speaker 2: said the wrong thing? Though, Like he's probably is getting
- 42:40Speaker 2: some heat because he didn't cover up something that he
- 42:43Speaker 2: was supposed to cover up.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Potentially, Yeah, but they changed. It's fine. Well, on May sixteenth,
- 42:49Speaker 1: which was four months later, the Corner's report would be released,
- 42:53Speaker 1: and I do have the full Corners report available, Okay,
- 42:56Speaker 1: so that's gonna be the show.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I also feel like a private autopsy of sorts maybe
- 43:02Speaker 2: needed to be done.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Potential, but the report stated manner of death suicide, cause
- 43:08Speaker 1: of death inhalation of smoke and soot, due to fire
- 43:12Speaker 1: with multiple stab wounds as a contributing factor. So when
- 43:16Speaker 1: John's body was brought in, police also brought in two
- 43:19Speaker 1: kitchen knives with John. One was a bread knife, so
- 43:22Speaker 1: a serrated bread knife, and the other was a Japanese
- 43:25Speaker 1: style kitchen knife. So the report said that it was
- 43:27Speaker 1: possible John used the bread knife to stab himself. However, however,
- 43:33Speaker 1: the other knife was inconsistent with the size of the
- 43:35Speaker 1: third stab wound in his chest. What's interesting in this
- 43:40Speaker 1: report is that it does not make any mention of
- 43:42Speaker 1: the stab wounds to the back, but it does, however,
- 43:45Speaker 1: detail the stab wounds to the chest, which penetrate through
- 43:48Speaker 1: the sternum and one even making contact with a ventricle
- 43:53Speaker 1: of his heart.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, So those aren't really superficial that No,
- 43:57Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, could you imagine doing that to your.
- 44:00Speaker 1: With abserrated bread knife?
- 44:03Speaker 2: Holy shit, Because I mean, if you was suicidal, I
- 44:07Speaker 2: feel like I don't know that he might have done
- 44:11Speaker 2: it a different way than that you.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Would potentially think. I can't imagine anyone even trying to
- 44:19Speaker 1: consider potential mental health situations. I can't fathom someone being
- 44:24Speaker 1: able to do that with a serrated bread knife that
- 44:27Speaker 1: has a blunt tip. Usually yeah, breaking through their sternum
- 44:33Speaker 1: into their.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Heart, because that's like that would be like a lot
- 44:36Speaker 2: of force. Oh you bet, But I mean sometimes like
- 44:41Speaker 2: the sometimes mental health illnesses do make you like do
- 44:49Speaker 2: almost I can't think of the word.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Like superhuman sort of very goal. Yeah, no, I totally gotcha,
- 44:57Speaker 1: But I I just I don't see a way. I
- 44:59Speaker 1: don't see that being able to happen because he would
- 45:04Speaker 1: have had to have light the fire first. He would
- 45:08Speaker 1: have lit the fire and then stabbed himself and then
- 45:13Speaker 1: succumb to the exphyxiation from the fire, right, so he
- 45:18Speaker 1: would have been in a rush probably adrenaline. You're right,
- 45:21Speaker 1: but I think it would have taken like some serious thought.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Your first attempts probably going to fail, guaranteed fail, But
- 45:29Speaker 1: there was no such failure found.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Well yeah, and then too, like if he did a
- 45:35Speaker 2: first attempt, though, you might be like, what the what
- 45:37Speaker 2: the fuck am I doing here? And you know, kind
- 45:39Speaker 2: of wake up and realize, oh my gosh, like I
- 45:41Speaker 2: want to live.
- 45:42Speaker 1: So to me, they either did not get the correct
- 45:46Speaker 1: knife or weapon or how he did it or something
- 45:51Speaker 1: is superfishy.
- 45:52Speaker 2: And if he did it himself though, it would be
- 45:54Speaker 2: very much so obvious what the correct weapon would be, yeah,
- 45:57Speaker 2: because it would be right there, right yeah, So that
- 46:00Speaker 2: wouldn't be something you'd mess up.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Correct. So of course his death was ruled a suicide,
- 46:07Speaker 1: meaning John did this to himself. The knife is now
- 46:10Speaker 1: identified as this bread knife. He apparently stabbed himself in
- 46:13Speaker 1: the chest three times with it, hard enough to break
- 46:16Speaker 1: through his sternum and rate one reach towards his heart gosh.
- 46:22Speaker 1: The report also mentioned John had cameras inside his home
- 46:26Speaker 1: and on the day of his death, the report claimed
- 46:28Speaker 1: John walked in front of the cameras twice with a
- 46:30Speaker 1: knife and in his hand, sorry, knife in his hand,
- 46:35Speaker 1: before shutting the cameras off, But no such footage has
- 46:38Speaker 1: ever been released really correct, so, no such footage has
- 46:42Speaker 1: ever been shown of John walking in front of a
- 46:45Speaker 1: camera twice with a knife before shutting off the footage, because.
- 46:47Speaker 2: You don't think that he would shut it off for himself.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Which actually, now that I think about it, I do
- 46:54Speaker 1: have the crime scene photos for this as well, and
- 46:56Speaker 1: I do recall them showing the case every single camera
- 47:01Speaker 1: on his house. I wonder if they do show any
- 47:05Speaker 1: camera inside his home. I never even thought to look
- 47:07Speaker 1: at that until just now. No, Okay, okay, we're gonna
- 47:11Speaker 1: look that up in the post show. We're gonna look
- 47:12Speaker 1: that up in the post show. For show.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Ben's is like, now he's you've already gone down a
- 47:17Speaker 2: rabbit hole, but you're continuing to go down.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Oh you know it. So so many people call bullshit
- 47:23Speaker 1: in this whole Corner's report. In the story on what
- 47:24Speaker 1: actually happened, basically, the matter that death is just like
- 47:28Speaker 1: not the fuck, no way, No one really realized that
- 47:31Speaker 1: it was potentially true. John was just paranoid, but he
- 47:36Speaker 1: did potentially predict his own murder. Yeah, so maybe he
- 47:41Speaker 1: was actually onto something.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, this okay, this is just such a bizarre story,
- 47:47Speaker 2: and it really is because it's also just like, okay, yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 2: he could have predicted his own murder or was this
- 47:54Speaker 2: all just like some sort of crazy ass story that
- 47:58Speaker 2: he went about doing and then and then did commit suicide.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Potentially because maybe he was trying to frame the police.
- 48:07Speaker 1: There is a potential of that maybe he was has
- 48:09Speaker 1: struggling with mental illness to such a degree that he
- 48:13Speaker 1: did this to try and bring down the police, saying
- 48:16Speaker 1: if I frame them, then maybe I can get some
- 48:20Speaker 1: shit going on. There is a potential of that. I'm
- 48:24Speaker 1: not going to deny that.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 1: So, after John's suicide or potential murder or whichever one
- 48:31Speaker 1: you potentially think it, cause of course a lot of
- 48:34Speaker 1: outrage among his now social media followers and everything. However,
- 48:38Speaker 1: media outlets barely touched the story at all.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Really, really, I thought the media would be literally all
- 48:46Speaker 2: over this.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Nope, hardly touched it at all. What the fought And
- 48:50Speaker 1: his online diary that he kept basically kind of like
- 48:52Speaker 1: a like a blog sort of thing where he documented
- 48:55Speaker 1: many of the incidents and stuff was immediately taken down
- 48:58Speaker 1: after his death as well.
- 49:00Speaker 2: And who took that down? Then?
- 49:02Speaker 3: Whoa?
- 49:04Speaker 2: I mean, well that could do that. Could probably have
- 49:06Speaker 2: been the police of sorts that took that down.
- 49:08Speaker 1: It also could have been the fire that took it down. Yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 1: maybe he stored it all in a hard drive in
- 49:13Speaker 1: his home and the fire it got damaged.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I guess. But if it was like literally online, you
- 49:19Speaker 2: wouldn't think once it's online, it's online.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Maybe it was not online, it was stored in like
- 49:23Speaker 1: a hard drive. And then when you go to this
- 49:25Speaker 1: website to access is the hard drive. Maybe he didn't
- 49:27Speaker 1: actually stored it on the internet. Okay, so there is
- 49:31Speaker 1: potential of that that might explain it.
- 49:32Speaker 2: You're really looking at all angles, you're playing Devil's Advocate it.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I think it's important to do that with it.
- 49:37Speaker 2: It is no, it is Yeah, where.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Did I find myself here? Oh right. One thing that
- 49:44Speaker 1: is really interesting is the group Anonymous, you know, the
- 49:47Speaker 1: activist group. They publicly targeted Fresno police and representatives with
- 49:54Speaker 1: this really basically saying that like, shit's going to go down.
- 50:00Speaker 1: I'm going to play you guys the video because the
- 50:02Speaker 1: video disc does still exist, So I'm going to play
- 50:04Speaker 1: you what they said directly to the Fresno police and
- 50:08Speaker 1: city representatives. Okay, okay, So here we go, Hello.
- 50:11Speaker 3: And welcome, brothers and sisters of the world. Today we
- 50:14Speaker 3: have a very important message one of our deceased brothers,
- 50:18Speaker 3: John Lang. It has come to the attention of the
- 50:22Speaker 3: collective that the murder of our brother has gone without
- 50:24Speaker 3: a whisper from the Fresno media. John Lang was an
- 50:28Speaker 3: activist doing what most of us have set out to do.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Exposed option, bring lies to the service for all to see,
- 50:35Speaker 3: stand up for people who have not yet learned to
- 50:37Speaker 3: stand up for themselves. He was exposing the Fresno Police
- 50:41Speaker 3: Department for running a ticketing scam, scanning parts civilian vehicles
- 50:46Speaker 3: in parking areas and using the gathered information to pull
- 50:49Speaker 3: the vehicle over shortly after departing. He repeatedly reported this
- 50:53Speaker 3: find to the local media. The Fresno b unemployee named
- 50:58Speaker 3: Jody Murray from the Knight gave the Frasno Police his
- 51:01Speaker 3: IP address and information. That is when the harassment began
- 51:05Speaker 3: that eventually led to our brother's death. Jody Murray of
- 51:09Speaker 3: the Fresno be claims he gave John's information away because
- 51:12Speaker 3: he was mentally ill, an overuse tactic used by most
- 51:16Speaker 3: mainstream media outlets. Attack one's character and people will no
- 51:20Speaker 3: longer care you were wrong. If you look into the
- 51:24Speaker 3: alternate media reports of John Lang, you can see and
- 51:27Speaker 3: judge for yourself, and in fact, I encourage al.
- 51:30Speaker 1: To do so.
- 51:31Speaker 3: This is a call to action, Brothers and sisters. We
- 51:35Speaker 3: cannot let this go without further investigation. Since the people
- 51:39Speaker 3: John Lang reached out to investigate this have failed to
- 51:42Speaker 3: launch fun, including the FBI he also reached out to
- 51:45Speaker 3: for help, then we will This is a call for
- 51:48Speaker 3: Operation Fresno and Operation John Lang. To kick off the operation,
- 51:53Speaker 3: the Fresno city website got taken down today. Consider this
- 51:57Speaker 3: a taste of what is to come. John Lang will
- 52:00Speaker 3: have justice to Jody Murray and the City of Fresno.
- 52:05Speaker 3: We are anonymous, we are a legion. We do not forgive,
- 52:10Speaker 3: we do not forget. Expect us.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, they took down the city's websites.
- 52:18Speaker 1: You bet you well.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I mean they usually mean like business they do, and
- 52:23Speaker 2: like I don't know a lot about them.
- 52:25Speaker 1: I don't think anyone does. I think that's why they're
- 52:26Speaker 1: called anonymous touche.
- 52:29Speaker 2: But they generally seem like they for them to go
- 52:33Speaker 2: and do something like that, that like there's some backing
- 52:38Speaker 2: behind it, do you know what I'm saying?
- 52:40Speaker 1: Yeah, there's usually reason.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Yeah. So like they've like they've done their their research
- 52:47Speaker 2: in a sense. Yeah, and they really do believe this.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Yes, So so that's that that holds some weight.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:55Speaker 1: There is another little strange tidbit here I want to mention,
- 52:58Speaker 1: and it could be potentially again John being paranoid. Many
- 53:01Speaker 1: people act this way for their own reasons. But strangely enough,
- 53:05Speaker 1: John does not have a single picture of himself on
- 53:08Speaker 1: the internet, not one. We do not know what John.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Looks like, really, correct, We have no idea.
- 53:15Speaker 1: No, I mean, we have descriptions from his coronary report,
- 53:19Speaker 1: his autopsy, and there are technically two photos that do exist.
- 53:24Speaker 1: One person from Reddit who claims to have gone to
- 53:26Speaker 1: high school with John and has this old, blurry kind
- 53:29Speaker 1: of photo from a high school.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Well you think someone out there does not have loved
- 53:34Speaker 2: ones would have photos of him.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Well, potentially, but not online. There's nothing online. No confirmed
- 53:40Speaker 1: photos of John exist online.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Does John exist?
- 53:43Speaker 1: There is his driver's license in the corner's report again, okay,
- 53:48Speaker 1: however it's a photocopy and it looks absolutely terrible. You
- 53:51Speaker 1: can barely see what he looks like at all. Wow, barely.
- 53:55Speaker 1: So it could be like a male and that is
- 53:58Speaker 1: basically what that's right, Hey, that's a dude. I think
- 54:01Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, but there.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Could be a lot of people out there, like say,
- 54:04Speaker 2: if they didn't they haven't had a job where they
- 54:07Speaker 2: have had to have their photo out on like the website,
- 54:11Speaker 2: on the company's website, or they haven't done any sort
- 54:14Speaker 2: of social media things like it. It might not be
- 54:18Speaker 2: super rare that they wouldn't have a photo o.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and some people decide, you know, IM just going
- 54:22Speaker 1: to take photos offline or something. Yeah, it's potential. So
- 54:26Speaker 1: this is the end of John's story. His death was
- 54:29Speaker 1: officially ruled as suicide, and it's believed that he both
- 54:33Speaker 1: stabbed himself three times in the chest with a serrated
- 54:36Speaker 1: bread knife and set fire to his own home. Little
- 54:39Speaker 1: to no evidence has been brought forward to show that
- 54:42Speaker 1: this is what was done on his own and little
- 54:45Speaker 1: to no evidence has been offered to disprove anything about
- 54:48Speaker 1: his claims either. So whether it's true what John says
- 54:52Speaker 1: or true what the police say, we really don't know
- 54:55Speaker 1: because no evidence has really been brought forward either way.
- 54:58Speaker 2: It's almost kind they're hoping it to just get swept
- 55:00Speaker 2: under the rug. But the fact that the media has
- 55:04Speaker 2: not really said anything, like the Fresnel media is really bizarre.
- 55:08Speaker 2: It is this is that's a big story.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Especially if it is a corrupt police force. Right.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's I mean unless the police are just.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Wrapped up in it, paying them off, not letting them
- 55:18Speaker 1: do it.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Yeah, right, it has to be something like that, because
- 55:21Speaker 2: why would they not be sharing this story?
- 55:26Speaker 1: So many people believe that John was of course attacked
- 55:29Speaker 1: murdered by the police, But then many believe that it
- 55:34Speaker 1: was paranoia and health and he did take his own life.
- 55:38Speaker 1: It's hard to say one way for another for sure,
- 55:40Speaker 1: but I mean, which other side you do land on?
- 55:43Speaker 1: It's kind of hard to refute much of the things
- 55:45Speaker 1: John was able to do, like predict his own death jeez.
- 55:51Speaker 2: But then the other question is why, you know, why
- 55:55Speaker 2: would they have really? But we can talk chat about
- 55:58Speaker 2: that more in our pay drum post show.
