- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. Do you believe that it's
- 0:31possible to change? I think it's an important
- 0:34question to ask ourselves is are we capable of change as human
- 0:38beings? And here's what's really
- 0:40interesting about this. If I ask individual people, are
- 0:44they capable of changing their mindset, the way they think, the
- 0:47way they look at the world, they always say yes.
- 0:49But if I ask them if people in their lives are capable of
- 0:54changing, they often say I don't think so.
- 0:56I think that that person is stuck.
- 0:58I think that this this situation is stuck.
- 1:01And they'll talk about how that that is true, but if they asked
- 1:05it about themselves, they would have a different answer.
- 1:08Don't you find that curious? Because they believe in
- 1:10themselves, but they don't believe in other people.
- 1:12So that puts the question back to what does it say when you're
- 1:17in the spot and change needs to happen?
- 1:20I mean, honestly, when change needs to happen, it, it requires
- 1:24humans changing. It's not just other situations,
- 1:27it's what we're doing it it's, it's we control those other
- 1:32things that are around us. And we have to make sure that
- 1:37we're tapped in to the change factor.
- 1:40And the change factor is allowing the belief to not only
- 1:46permeate your yourself that you can change, but that other
- 1:50people can change. And it all always comes back to
- 1:54do they want to change? And asking that very critical
- 1:57question, well, does this person want to change or are they happy
- 2:01the way they are? Because sometimes that's the,
- 2:03that's the key to the every single tough situation that
- 2:06you're working through is does this person want to change?
- 2:10And if they do, fantastic because then they can shift.
- 2:15But if they're just giving Idlib service and they're not willing
- 2:17to do the work, then it's just that it's lip service.
- 2:20They're not willing to do the work and they're not going to
- 2:22get where they want to go. So as you, as you try to
- 2:26delineate this for yourself, you have to first start by asking
- 2:29yourself what's, what's the state of the union for you, not
- 2:33for anybody else. Start with yourself and say, OK,
- 2:37where are the parts that I'm really strong and that I feel
- 2:40are good on? They're on the lighter side of
- 2:42things. These add value to it.
- 2:45And then you do the opposite. Where am I on the darker side
- 2:49and where do the my things take away from the situation?
- 2:52So get really clear on your deficits so you know where you
- 2:56need to change first because again, you can't expect someone
- 3:00else to change if you're not willing to work on yourself.
- 3:04And in that process, you have to say, am I really committed to
- 3:08this? Am I willing to know I did all
- 3:11the work? Am I willing to know that I've
- 3:13stepped up and this works for personal or professional?
- 3:17So you ask that first always of yourself.
- 3:20It's put the mask on yourself first.
- 3:22Then you can go to the other side and say, OK, where do I
- 3:25believe that this person is good?
- 3:27Start with where this person or this situation is good and then
- 3:30go, where do I believe that this person could be better?
- 3:34Where the shifts could take place?
- 3:36Where is their dark side? And you're not going to share
- 3:39that with them. And not unless that you have the
- 3:42relationship or even the situation.
- 3:45You're not going to go into your boss's office and say, hey, this
- 3:48is where I see us having a deficit.
- 3:50If he doesn't want to know it. But you're doing it for your own
- 3:53clarity to see. What am I really upset at?
- 3:56Because oftentimes what happens is we start to conflate issues
- 4:00and everything becomes part of one nasty big hairball stuck in
- 4:05a drain. And then the water will go
- 4:07through, but slowly. And it's not good.
- 4:09And that's where emotion gets clogged up as well.
- 4:11So it's important to discern with that in mind, understanding
- 4:17both sides, your side, their side, or your, your
- 4:21interpretation of a situation and the actual situation itself.
- 4:26You have to say, I've got to break it out.
- 4:29I've got to delineate it. Otherwise you're going to
- 4:31continue to stay in that swirling water and get and drown
- 4:36because you're just keep seeing it and conflating all the issues
- 4:39and separate the issues. Understand this falls in this
- 4:42category and this falls in this category so that you can really
- 4:45work through it because otherwise you will be building
- 4:49frustration, irritation. You know, we go back to all the
- 4:52shuns and that that is not a way to stay.
- 4:57Can you do it? Of course, but it's not a way to
- 5:00get yourself out of it. Remember, those emotions show up
- 5:02to help us know what has to take place for change.
- 5:05But they should not be in charge.
- 5:07Keeping them in charge is dangerous.
- 5:09It's like leaving children unattended with a bunch of sugar
- 5:12around. So hopefully that's helpful.
- 5:15And I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will talk to
- 5:18you tomorrow. Bye.
