- 2:57that go on behind the scenes here at five eighty Live. It is not
- 3:00for the faint of heart. Let me tell you that all right, So
- 3:04I got Milly Snyder from the Shape Shop. Milly is in a bit of
- 3:08a quandary this morning because, as you know, every Wednesday, they've been
- 3:13doing this for the I guess last couple of weeks. It is a food
- 3:15truck Friday down at Slight Plaza City Center at Slight Plaza. Well, Milly
- 3:21has had a little bit of an issue with getting her truck down there.
- 3:24So I've been making phone calls trying to help out Milly Snyder to be able
- 3:29to get her truck into position down there because kind of a situation that didn't
- 3:34not related to the food at all, was the truck. And so I've
- 3:37been trying to help my buddy Milly out. So she's getting that squared away.
- 3:39We'll have her here on the show here in just a couple of moments.
- 3:43Also coming up a little bit later on, as you know, festival
- 3:45is continuing at Charles Mackenzie Spencer's going to join us to talk about that.
- 3:47And a new person, a new to the world of politics anyway, has
- 3:51signed on the dotted line to run for State Senate, and that is Jerry
- 3:54Forred and he's going to join us coming up a little bit later on as
- 3:58well. Put your calls and Texter welcome Bigley Pickley Wiggly Hotline three zero four
- 4:01three four five fifty eight fifty eight and the Fruit Pharmacy text three zero four
- 4:05nine three five five zero zero eights. I got her in here, the
- 4:09lovely the talent of the radiant Millie Snyder. How are you don't stop?
- 4:14I mean, I'm enjoying listening to this glad to tell you get do we
- 4:17get you straighten out? You got me straightened out. And I am so
- 4:20grateful. The driver that I had for today broke down on seventy nine.
- 4:27He's waiting for a tow truck so he couldn't come to us. And this
- 4:30is all an effort to get the Shape Shop to Track Plaza Slack Plaza,
- 4:34okay, And we have to have it on to the Slack Plaza by ten
- 4:39fifteen and we're there until two. And people love our truck and they love
- 4:44our food, and we're grateful for that. And I am so grateful to
- 4:48your friend Tommy who found this gentleman Andrew Palmer of me, who is the
- 4:56man who's helping us. He knows exactly where we are. And I am
- 5:00so grateful to all of you. Thank you. That's that's what we do,
- 5:03you know, obviously. So I mean because I'll tell you, you
- 5:05know, I go out, I'm getting ready for the show. I'm in
- 5:09here and makeup, you know, getting ready for the radio show. And
- 5:12so I that was a joke. Ma. So I come downstairs and I
- 5:15see you've just you're out front talking to Leah are a lovely receptionist down here,
- 5:18and You've just got this concerned look on your face. And I'm like,
- 5:20Millie, what can I do to help you? And you know,
- 5:24you're like Mighty Mouse here I come to save the day. It's kind of
- 5:29what I remember that. Well, you probably don't remember Mighty I remember Mighty
- 5:32Mouse. Remember. But I see a friend in Nina do what I can.
- 5:35I'm glad that one of my one of my best friends, Tommy Clay,
- 5:40and we get you taken care of. So there you go. I
- 5:42am so grateful, all right, you, all right? So what's new?
- 5:45I want to say a bunch of things, all right, all right,
- 5:46go ahead, true, and I'm not going to name names, okay,
- 5:49all right, but I pay attention to some of the food commercials,
- 5:53okay, and especially some of these things that say, you know, the
- 5:57meat is sliced fresh every day. However there's slicing process meats and these other
- 6:02all these other fast food places they are selling processes. And what that means
- 6:09in English is we don't know what else is in the food, and it's
- 6:14those ingredients that are hurting our health over time. Yes, the argument is,
- 6:20but it tastes good and it's easy, and I don't have time to
- 6:25pack lunch, or I don't have time to go to a healthy place I
- 6:29e. Like the Shape Shop. So that's why I go to fast food.
- 6:33But we need to pay attention to what people are selling us. And
- 6:40that's my message. I want people to set up pay attention to what they're
- 6:46putting in their body, because you know, when our creator put all of
- 6:51us together, one at a time, there was no provision for chemicals,
- 6:57for preservatives, and that's what causes so many of our health maladies. Now,
- 7:02of course, I learned this in addition to eating healthy for the many
- 7:08years that I did it through Weight Watchers. Since I became the I guess
- 7:14the leader here in Charleston teaching the Mediterranean lifestyle. Mediterranean food is clean,
- 7:21it's not processed, and that's one of the things that helps us enjoy longevity.
- 7:29You know, people in the Mediterranean. I'm motioning over here, so
- 7:32you'll know that that's where the that's where the Mediterranean is. It's on the
- 7:36right side of your radio now, thank you very much. Yeah. So
- 7:41people there live without disease, with minimal, if any medication, and they
- 7:47live to one O six, one o eight, one o two. There's
- 7:51got to be something to it. What is that expression that we've heard over
- 7:55the years of our life, you are we eat? And if we can
- 8:00begin to reverse that through knowledge? Another expression knowledge is power and that's what
- 8:07I would like people to know they have. They have the power to make
- 8:11some changes, but they've got to get that knowledge in there. And if
- 8:15they can get that in there and make small changes. First, I don't
- 8:18want people to join Mediterranean and then go home and throw everything away. That's
- 8:24stupid and it's also full hearty from the standpoint of what food costs. But
- 8:28when you get rid of what's in the house and you begin replacing it,
- 8:33let's replace it with healthy stuff. Like as an example, we sell turkey
- 8:37the best turkey you've ever eaten, So we have a supplier who sends us
- 8:48turkey. The bones are not there, the skin is not there, and
- 8:50we bake it and that's all we do to it, and we season it
- 8:54and it's delicious and when you put it in your mouth, you can't believe
- 8:58that can compared to a turkey that you got somewhere somewhere else, that both
- 9:03things are turkey. It's fresh, it's not processed. It is turkey the
- 9:09way the turkey came off of that, the gobbler. And you know,
- 9:13soon we're gonna we're gonna inundate ourselves for turkey. But I'm talking about using
- 9:18it for sandwiches and different things through the course of the day and the week
- 9:22and the year. It's not process and it's healthy. And I think you've
- 9:26got to be careful too, because I don't know whether you know this or
- 9:30not, but people in the world have advertising sometimes lie or not. Yeah,
- 9:35now, let me say this. Sometimes it's not about it all about
- 9:39falsehood. Sometimes they just don't put all the truth out there about things.
- 9:43And when you see, you know, commercials on television or whatever and they
- 9:46talk about, well it's one hundred percent fresh, Well, you get into
- 9:52nuances. What is the definition of fresh and so it's one hundred percent white
- 9:56meat in those nuggets. What else is in it? How much bleach and
- 10:03chemicals was in it to make it white? That's what you got to be
- 10:07careful for. All right. Millie Snyder's here from the Shape Shop. All
- 10:09right, so we got you, We got you taking care of you.
- 10:13You'll be down at syck Posa to day. There are several other food trucks
- 10:16will be down there as well. Weather's going to be great, they say
- 10:20today it's going to be a picture perfect fall day. So if you're looking
- 10:22for something different to do and you want to say goodbye to the drive through
- 10:26it, you know, give it a try. Go down there. What
- 10:28are some of the things that they'll find on the food truck today? It's
- 10:30like BOSM, I think we have five or six different wraps. Yesterday I
- 10:35was at the post office taking care of finally getting my passport updated. Not
- 10:41that I'm going anywhere, but I wanted to get it updated. And this
- 10:43woman said, oh, I've been to the shape shop. I said,
- 10:46where do you know where it is? She says, I don't mean your
- 10:50shop, I mean your food truck. She said, I went there last
- 10:52Wednesday. We were there. She said that wrap that I ate was so
- 10:58delicious. Turns out more questions that I asked her. She had the chicken
- 11:03suziki. She said, every bite was unbelievable. So I'm only repeating what
- 11:11Yeah, not a potential but a real, living, breathing customer actually said
- 11:16to me, and I have said before, the salmon is of the best
- 11:18salmon I've ever had. I've had a lot of salmon in my life.
- 11:22Let me tell you your salmon that you have down there is fantastic. And
- 11:26once again, it's fresh and sweets too. I want to talk about sweets
- 11:30as we close out the segment here because you know, you may think,
- 11:33well, if I'm trying to get into a healthier life, so I can't
- 11:35have anything to after the meal. You know, some people like that.
- 11:39You got to have a little sweet or maybe a little You offer several things
- 11:43down there, like and we don't use sugar, which is deadly. It
- 11:46hurts our body. It tastes great in your mouth, but sugar is not
- 11:52a friend. In fact, with my breakfast this morning, I had one
- 11:56of our peanut butter muffins and I have to say, oh, yeah,
- 12:00okay, so I have to say it because it's my product. But if
- 12:03it wasn't my product, that peanut butter muffin was delicious. I had it
- 12:09with cottage cheese and fresh fruit. Sounds good. And that got a question
- 12:13here for you from a Texter And this will be the last thing we'll do.
- 12:16Text says dear Dave. Question for meliar wild game? Are you a
- 12:20fan such as venison, wild turkey, et cetera. Now this is wild
- 12:24turkey, not not the kind of the bottle wild turkey, not that kind
- 12:26of wild turkey. Not that such a drinker, she souths right now.
- 12:33The I'm kidding, she's not the other wild turkey though about I mean venison
- 12:39and wild turkey, that kind of stuff. And the beautiful thing is that
- 12:41all game are basically vegetarians and like venison. I mean they're Venison is a
- 12:50very wonderful preferred meat on Mediterranean as is wild game. It's great. I
- 12:56mean when I say wild game, I'm thinking of words, but you're thinking
- 13:01of deer. Absolutely, and there's no preservatives in it. I mean,
- 13:05that's the best thing about it. It's what you've been preaching since you went
- 13:07on this morning. They've been they eat, they eat from the forest.
- 13:13Maybe they eat each other. I don't know. I'm not going to go
- 13:16there. Yeah, but I guess that thought occurs to me. All right,
- 13:20Mellie, give us a location of the physical location of the Shape Shop.
- 13:24The physical location is seven six Central Avenue. If you go around the
- 13:30corner on Elm Street, you will see the food truck. But today it's
- 13:33going to be at Slack Plaza. And again, I am so grateful to
- 13:37you, Dave for making that connection for me. Thank you glad to help
- 13:41you out. I have more to talk about it, well, have you.
- 13:43Well you'll come back next month because I want to get your take on
- 13:46Thanksgiving. We've done it for the last couple of years. I want to
- 13:48get your take on a healthy Thanksgiving because when you come back, we'll be
- 13:52just a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving. But I do want to tell
- 13:54everyone, you know, in addition to everything else that I've done and continue
- 13:58to do, I am a cookbook author and I'm going to be at the
- 14:03book review this kind of book festival festival at the Colosseum, at the coliseum,
- 14:07I can't say Civic Center, but coliseum and convention Center. This coming

- 14:18buy for friends or for my children's book, for a grandchild or your neighbor's
- 14:26kid, please come down. I'd love to talk to you and I'd love
- 14:28to sign it. If you want my signature. You don't have to have
- 14:33it, but you might want it, of course you do, all right,
- 14:35We'll see you there and we'll see it. Slack files. Letterday Millie

- 18:11but she's she cares herself very well for her age, I will say
- 18:15that. And she makes me feel like crap about some of the things they
- 18:18ate sometimes. Jerry Farren is here, candidate for state Senate district and Jerry,
- 18:22good morning, how are you. I'm doing fine day, Thanks for
- 18:25having me this morning. Thank you for being here. So, District eight
- 18:29covers parts of Kanawa, Putnam, Rohan, and Clay Is that right?
- 18:33And Jackson and Jackson? I left Jackson now can I forget Jackson? So
- 18:37it covers all of those county It is a pretty big district with it,
- 18:41and it's a diverse district as far as you know, different different types of
- 18:45people in all in one district. Sure, And it's probably one of the
- 18:48largest in the state. You know, they redistricted in twenty twenty two,
- 18:53so this new district is significantly different from what the folks that ran for Senate
- 18:57in District eight ran four last time. Okay, and you are running as
- 19:02a Republican. Republican, Yes, Republican district Kate. So give us a
- 19:06bio on Jerry Ford. Who are you? How'd you get here? Well,
- 19:10it's been a long, long trip. I grew up in Beckley.
- 19:12I'm a native West Virginia Air Force veteran. I was in the Air Force
- 19:18for four years and then worked as a civilian for the Air Force for a
- 19:22couple After that came thank you for your service, by the way, Oh,
- 19:25I appreciate it, thank you. Came back to West Virginia in nineteen
- 19:27eighty nine or actually eighty eight, moved across lanes in eighty nine and been
- 19:33here ever since. Spent twelve years working for a law firm here in town
- 19:37Bowles, Rice. And then after that's when my service started with the state.
- 19:42Spent a couple more years with other companies, but then went to the
- 19:45state. I was appointed as the chief Information officer for the West Virginia Department
- 19:51of Environmental Protection back in two thousand and two. Stayed there until twenty sixteen,
- 19:56at which time I was appointed as the executive director of the West Virginia
- 19:59Real Estate Commission. Retired from there in May of this year, and that's
- 20:04what got me here today. Now I'm ready to move forward and try to
- 20:07do something with the legislature. To why the run for Senate many reasons.
- 20:12I've been on the other side of the table from the Senate for a long
- 20:15time. You know, working in leadership positions with state agencies, you have
- 20:21to deal a lot with the legislature. I just I know how the system
- 20:25works. I know how the system should work, and I think I've got
- 20:29some things that could be helpful that would help out the agencies and help out
- 20:33the legislature. What are some of the things that you would like to work
- 20:34on if elected? Well, you know, you always hear the standard ones
- 20:40like jobs and things like that, but this state has a horrible drug problem.
- 20:45It touches pretty much every family, and we try to take care of
- 20:51those folks with treatments and things like that, but then there seems to be
- 20:53a disconnect once they're treated and let out of that treatment, we just seem
- 20:57to forget about them. It's very difficult for them to even get a driver's
- 21:03license or an ID. So I think one of the things that we need
- 21:06to do as a as a society is try to take better care of those
- 21:10people, help them once they're out of treatment, integrate back into society.
- 21:14And I think that's one of the things that the legislature really needs to take
- 21:17a hard look at. Talking again with Jerry Forren, who is a candidate
- 21:21for State Senate in district date here on five eighty live at the Boys Charleston
- 21:25w c HS, Jerry, things are going well in West Virginia right now,
- 21:29especially if you are Republican with a super duper majority copyright Dave Allen Alright,
- 21:33reserved. But with success can come internal fighting. We certainly are seeing
- 21:41that now on the national level, still trying to get a House speaker because
- 21:44they're kind of breaking up at a different different groups. They have for some
- 21:48time, and we've seen a couple of minor dust ups in the legislature,
- 21:52not major yet, but any time that you are the leg you know the
- 21:56group in control, you're going to have factions. That happened to the Democrats
- 21:59for eighty some odd years. Are are you prepared for any infighting that may
- 22:06happen? And now that's the first part. The second part of the question
- 22:07is there are some Democrats. There's a lot, but there's some Democrats.
- 22:11And in order to get anything done, you are going to have you need
- 22:15to have You're not gonna have to anymore, but you're gonna need to have
- 22:17a buying from some of the Democrats. So I guess the two part questions.
- 22:19Number one, are you prepared for any infighting within the party? Number
- 22:22two, what about reaching across the aisle. I don't know if you're ever
- 22:26prepared for the in fighting. You know, like I said, I've been
- 22:30on the other side of the table and I've seen that happen for the last
- 22:32thirty years. I think I'm as prepared as I can be. And as
- 22:37far as reaching across the table, I think that's what we're supposed to do.
- 22:41You know, I run as Republican, but that doesn't mean that every
- 22:44view I have is the so called standard Republican view. I think the best
- 22:48thing we could do is work together because on the issues that we're looking at
- 22:52in West Virginia. You know, a lot of those issues aren't just Republican
- 22:56or Democratic issues. They're issues for everyone. If we don't reach out across
- 23:00the table to bring everybody into a consensus, we're never going to get anything
- 23:03done. And as far as the Republican Party itself, you see that in
- 23:07fighting more and more, which happens when you don't have a counterbalance on the
- 23:12other side. They're no longer fighting against the Democrats, they start fighting against
- 23:17ourselves, and we just can't do that. We've got to do better.
- 23:21Let's talk about some of these major problems in West Virginia, the prison crisis,
- 23:25some of these things we're addressed togeteroms you know, just wrapped up here
- 23:26in Charleston, and some of the things we're a dressed to their prison crisis,
- 23:30d h HR, the foster care system. Now, I know it's
- 23:33not a fair it's not fair to ask a man Jerry, who isn't even
- 23:37in office to solve the problems yet. But but on the surface, are
- 23:40you ready to get in there and start to tackle these things? Well?
- 23:42I think I am. You know, I keep up on the politics of
- 23:47the day just about every day. Listen to this station. This is a
- 23:49great resource for people that need to know what's going on in our state.
- 23:53You know, in some of these issues. You know, we have issues
- 23:56with the prison system. There's the pay issue. You know, I don't
- 24:00know exactly how you get around that because the state only has X amount of
- 24:03dollars. But as you mentioned earlier, we're doing very well. So I
- 24:07think now is the time that we need to add record surpluses right now,
- 24:10the second surpluses, that's right. And then as far as the foster care
- 24:14system goes, you know, that's something that I would leave to the people
- 24:19that are doing that to give suggestions. That's one area that I know that
- 24:23we need to hit. That area also affects my family. But exactly what
- 24:29to fix is I can't set right here this morning and tell you that I
- 24:32know how to fix that. Five Any Life is brought to part by Mix

- 25:03dot us. So have you been out doing the campaign thing yet? Really
- 25:07just now getting fired up. Got my website up and running about a week
- 25:11and a half ago, got the Facebook page up and running about the same
- 25:15time. It's amazing how much startup there is to do something like this.
- 25:21I don't know that I was really prepared for everything that we had to do
- 25:22to get ready, and then there's a whole other step that happens in January
- 25:26when you have to do more filings. But it's been busy hoping to get
- 25:30out and starting to do some meetings here in the next week or two.
- 25:33And I would like to get out to each of those different areas, you
- 25:36know, Ron County, in Jackson County, Clay County, they're more remote,
- 25:40but I want to get out there and meet those folks and hear what
- 25:41they have to say, because I'm sure with being in such a diverse district,
- 25:45you know, some of the issues that we might have here in Cross
- 25:48Lanes or Charleston aren't going to be the same what they might have in Jackson
- 25:52Clay in Rome. And so if I'm sitting on my couch and Jerry Fourren
- 25:56knocks on my door and says, I would like to talk to you,
- 25:59what would your campaign speech to me? What would you say? Well,
- 26:02I think the first thing I would say is are you happy with the way
- 26:04things are going now? And if you're not, tell me why? Why?
- 26:07What can I do for you when I get in office? And I'm
- 26:11not going to be someone that's going to make a bunch of campaign promises because
- 26:14honestly, I think going in as a junior senator or a junior delegate,
- 26:18whatever you do, uh, you know, there's a there's a curve there
- 26:21as far as being able to get things done. But I've got a lot
- 26:23of ideas that hopefully I can push. But I'm not going to be the
- 26:27guy that's going to sit out here and say, if you elect me,
- 26:30this is going to happen. And again, as someone once told me about
- 26:33the capital is when you get in the first session, you're just trying to
- 26:36find out where the restrooms are. That's it. But but now you've been
- 26:38inside the capital a few times. Do you know where the cafeteria in the
- 26:42restaurant and whether the paper towels are captain? That's right? All right,
- 26:45so Jerry give me like the well first till let me ask you this about
- 26:49your campaign. You got a website, you get a Facebook or anything like
- 26:52that? What do you got? Website is Foreign for Senate dot com.
- 26:56It's f O R R E N of course Senate all one word. And
- 27:02then the Facebook page is Jerry Forn for West Virginia Senate or my regular Facebook
- 27:07page. You can just find me by typing in my name. All that's
- 27:11up and running. Of course, we got the donations page there, which
- 27:15is very important for anyone that might like to help the campaign. We'd appreciate
- 27:18it. Yeah, I'm going to turn that down, all right. Final
- 27:21thirty uninterrupted for me? Why should somebody vote for Jerry Foreign for State Centate.
- 27:25Well, I have thirty years of experience in government, state government,
- 27:30military, time, select a service. I'm still with that for another couple
- 27:33of years. I know how the system works. I've worked on the other
- 27:37side of the system. I see how things can be improved, and I'm
- 27:42not afraid to make hard decisions. You know, sometimes that has to be
- 27:45done in a state. You just you got to make those tough decisions.
- 27:49And I'm ready to do this. I'm retired from my career and I'll be
- 27:53dedicating all my time to this. All right, So a little fun fact
- 27:57about you and then we'll let you go. I promise, because you and
- 28:02I were talking in the green room that you came on in this building or
- 28:07with these stations to be interviewed by the late John Dickens Sheets at one time.
- 28:11Why were you on the air with John Dickons Sheets. This is a
- 28:12little insight into your personality outside the world of politics. Tell us about that.
- 28:17I was on the show John Dickon Sheets. He invited me to come
- 28:19in to talk about a national championship I just won in powerlifting. Powerlifting?
- 28:25Yeah you still lifting? I still do Yeah, not lifting as much as
- 28:29I did back then, but yeah, at least two three times a week
- 28:32every week. Okay, Can we ask you what the record was? It
- 28:34was? My actually set numerous records. My best one was a bench press
- 28:40of four hundred and fifty two pounds unassisted, just t shirt and shorts.
- 28:44Well, I could do that. I just don't want to I want to
- 28:47show you up. I wish I could still do it. That was then
- 28:49that's right, all right, Jerry Ford. I appreciate you beat her.

- 32:51say, well, we know what the problems and right now what we're facing

- 34:07I just want to make sure that So what's going on with fest? Of
- 34:10all? We got? It started last week? How has it been so
- 34:13far yet? So we just a fall I need to say festive fall fall.
- 34:17But yes, we're starting to day six to days. We're officially aptway
- 34:20through. I thinks have been going great. I mean, you know,
- 34:22obviously mother nature has thrown us a couple curve balls with some some weather issues,
- 34:28but nothing too bad, nothing that we couldn't handle. So we had
- 34:31a wonderful weekend to Capital Market with the Harvest Heart Fair this past weekend.
- 34:37We had several theater events that have happened throughout the five days so far,
- 34:42and we're we're gearing up for another fun fat So what do we got on

- 35:34Federal Credit Union, Linda Vodie. And it's going to be a musician Ryan
- 35:38Kennedy who mount stage and yeah, Bob Thompson Unit and several uh, several
- 35:45bands throughout the area. So it's be a really fun night. Ryan is
- 35:49phenomenal. I mean I've worked events, you know, over the years with
- 35:52Ryan, not as a musician because that's not me, but i mean I've
- 35:54done different events with Ryan Kennedy over the years. He's absolutely fantastic. So
- 35:59looking after today, what do we got? So Tomorrow is going to be

- 36:07after Darkness play Center. But we're gonna be unveiling the fourth art Bus for

- 36:16bus this time, so we're excited to show it off. I've been seeing
- 36:20a lot of sneak peak pictures and it looks phenomenal, so we're excited about
- 36:23that and also in them. A great lecture with the West Virginia Humanity's Council

- 37:34And the thing about Festival is festival and Festival Fall Mackenzie. You and
- 37:37I have talked about this in the past. It's really the only event.
- 37:40And there are so many events that go on in Charleston and the Kanawa Valley,
- 37:44but it's really the only event that takes over the entire city. Because

- 45:05Who to second? Is a story posted at wv Metronews dot com and it
- 45:09has to do with the Kanah County Circuit Judge Mary Claire Acres, whom I'm
- 45:15now referring to pardon me here just for a moment as I say this as
- 45:17Judge kickass, she Judge Acres is asking why there hasn't been more consistency from
- 45:28the Kanawha County Prosecutor's office in getting more abuse in neglect cases in front of
- 45:32her bench. Now, this all happened yesterday morning in Judge Acre's courtroom,
- 45:40where she asked Prosecutor Chuck Miller why he is not in his staff, of
- 45:47course, in his office is not appointed an attorney to handle these type cases.
- 45:53In her courtroom and we're talking about abuse and neglect cases. The judge
- 46:00says that she asked mister Miller's office multiple times to file court orders, but
- 46:07got back what she called a quote disappointing response from mister Miller. Now she
- 46:15is asking who her office needs to be in contact with, and then referred
- 46:21to the prosecutor's office's failure to answer as a quote direct order from the court
- 46:29in quote FYI. Judges usually don't take kindly to direct orders being ignored,
- 46:37especially when it's judge kick ass, Judge Ajakers, I'm sorry. Prosecuting Attorney
- 46:42Miller talked about having issues with his staff. And we all know this is
- 46:45not just related to Kanawa County. I mean this is going on across the
- 46:47country having people to handle these type cases. But Prosecutor Miller talked about having
- 46:52issues with the staff and the inability to find people to handle the case load.
- 46:59Now, just for say a look at the numbers, there are well
- 47:00over eight hundred such cases in the court system in Kanawha County alone, right
- 47:07now, that's over eight hundred in Kanawha. That is compared to around two
- 47:15hundred and twenty seven I think was the number I saw when Judge Acres took
- 47:17the bench back in March. It's twenty twenty one, So in you know,
- 47:22two and a half years, we've gone from case loads of about two
- 47:28twenty seven to well over eight hundred in Canawha County alone. So a word
- 47:35of the whys for the Prosecutor's office. I would not want Judge Acres on
- 47:40my bad side just saying there's gonna be a big event. And you heard
- 47:46me talk about this a little bit benefiting the Clubs in Hand foundation. Now
- 47:51it's called a party. Parash Tee is being presented by the John L.
- 47:55Dickinson family at Embassy Suite Saturday, November the eleven, start to seven o'clock.

- 48:15night at Charleston City Council on Monday night. Nice little exchange between Mayor Amy
- 48:22Goodwin and Councilwoman Shanted Snodgrass over an investigation involving the Charleston Police Department. Now,
- 48:31Councilwoman Snodgrass asked Mayor Goodwin to confirm information that Counciloman Snodgrass had received regarding
- 48:43a subpoena issued to interim Charleston Police Chief Scott Dempsey. Of course, mister
- 48:51Dempsey called into action following the ty Kunt situation, and the subpoena apparently came
- 48:59from the State Auditors Office. Now, the mayor has said in the past
- 49:07that as far as for I guess Decoran purposes or whatever, she doesn't want
- 49:10to turn the council member remark portion of Charleston City Council into a Q and
- 49:19A session. And so basically what happens if you've never seen a Charleston City
- 49:24council, but any other cities do this as well. They take care of
- 49:28their routine business and so on and so forth, but they also have a
- 49:31session where the council persons can you know, just just say something that's on
- 49:38their mind. And sometimes it's a reminder so and so the East End yard
- 49:42sales going on, or you know, we're having a ribbon cutting, you
- 49:45know, it's that kind of thing sometimes. But Damayor said she didn't want
- 49:46to turn that into a Q and a session with council where we have council
- 49:51just using that opportunity to ask the mayor of various questions. And so that's
- 49:57pretty much what happened Monday night. And I'll pair paraphrase here in this question
- 50:01that went from council Woman Snodgrass to the mayor. She said, and I'm
- 50:05paraphrase and yes, Chief Dempsey did speak with the State Auditor's office, but
- 50:09I think you knew that already in reference to council Woman Shannon Snodgrass. Shannon's
- 50:16Snodgrass then ask who it was that represented the city at the meeting, and
- 50:24I don't think the mayor gave an answer on that. Now Councilwoman's Snodgrass is
- 50:30claiming that there has been an investigation by the auditor's office into the city's finances
- 50:38for a year or so. Now again no comment on that per se from
- 50:43the mayor. Councilwoman's Snodgrass said that she would again ask who represented the city
- 50:52in meetings or whatever you want to call it with the State Auditor's office.
- 50:57And she suggested, and kind of paraphrasing, that maybe she should send an
- 51:01email requesting the information. Now, Shannon Snodgrass has been asking for an audit
- 51:07as it pertains to overtime pay within the police department. There's been no comment
- 51:13from the State Auditor's Office on this, which there's not going to be.
- 51:15I mean, if it's if it is an ongoing investigation or discussions or they're
- 51:20looking into things whatever, they're not going to comment on it, as understandable.
- 51:24Also, no comment from the interim police Chief Dempsey on this. Not
- 51:29a lot from the city Attorney, Kevin Baker either, other than to say
- 51:31the city has a good relationship with the State Auditor's Office and that any questions
- 51:37should be directed toward them. And I do want to give credit for a
- 51:40part of the account that I just gave to Leslie Rubin and the folks over
- 51:45WCCHS No relation and Fox eleven Eyewitness News. All right, folks, it's
- 51:52been an interesting show today, from trying to get Millie Snyder a tow truck
- 51:57so she could head over to slack Plaza for food truck Friday, a Jerry

- 52:13to the governor's race, including the big lead held by Attorney General Patrick Morrissey.
- 52:16So we're to talk about that with Chreston Gallagher tomorrow. Also, were
