- 0:00In this lessons episode, uncover why lasting success depends on consistent effort rather than
- 0:04instant results. Discover how embracing small actions creates long-term breakthroughs.
- 0:09Understand why focusing on progress instead of perfection builds resilience and explore how
- 0:13acting quickly on ideas turns opportunities into reality.
- 0:24You hear that spiritual message in a lot of different religions where you're trying to
- 0:29reach that level of consciousness. And I do believe that a lot of people don't take the first step
- 0:36into improving their lives just because there's this abundance of pessimism and negativity that
- 0:43really stop people from understanding what they can do. And I think that what is tough for people
- 0:50to figure out or wrap their mind around is to see the full path. So they don't understand how
- 0:56the micro action they take is going to eventually lead to the success they want in 10 years. And
- 1:01they just want the immediate and that's it. And if it's not immediate, it's not real. Or if it's
- 1:06not immediate, it's not valid. And that's wrong. Because I, you know, people that aren't entrepreneurs
- 1:13that don't go through this struggle. Entrepreneurs know this better than anything. I don't mean to
- 1:16speak to entrepreneurs in particular, but you ever ask an entrepreneur or anybody who's a success
- 1:20sports, you know, politics, anybody who has any sort of credibility in their, in their field,
- 1:25it's not overnight. It's, you know, a thousand of all these different. So it's like, just take that
- 1:30same mentality, apply it to any person. And if you want to be successful, it's not going to be the
- 1:35one thing. It's going to be the hundreds of thousands of things that you have to do. Um,
- 1:39anyway, that's that that's my, I don't want to take over this session. This is all, you know,
- 1:43just something I'd be a passionate about. It's very wise and people need reminded of that. That's
- 1:47also true in my case. I've often told people, yeah, I'm an overnight success. If you define
- 1:53overnight as 30 years. Yeah. It is none of us that I am aware of had an overnight success. Everybody
- 2:00put in their time. They put in their hours. They put in their work. And over time, they had little
- 2:06breadcrumbs of success that kept them going. But the, the vision is what kept them going.
- 2:12And the belief in themselves and the possibility of the vision becoming reality is what kept them
- 2:16going. And then at some point, you break through and you, you reach a level where people notice
- 2:22your success and to them, it seems like it was overnight because you just appeared. It's much like
- 2:30before the movie, the secret in 2006, I was pretty well known as an internet marketer as a copy
- 2:36writer because I was one of the first to go on the internet. I was considered an internet pioneer.
- 2:41And from that level of success, a lot of people took notice of me, a lot of people hired me.
- 2:45But then the movie, the secret comes out. And that thing blows across the planet. And suddenly,
- 2:52everybody sees me and everybody recognizes me and I go on Larry King live twice. And Oprah
- 2:58does three specials on the show and Newsweek and New York Times. And I'm being invited to speak
- 3:04all over the world. Suddenly, overnight, overnight, Joe is noticed. Yeah.
- 3:11All the time before, I was doing all the work to be in preparation for a phone call that I didn't
- 3:18even know was coming that would say, Hey, we read one of your books, which I wouldn't have written
- 3:22had I not taken the action to get it done. And we want to put you in this movie, which I didn't
- 3:27know was going to do anything. And then when I'm in the movie, it ends up being this intergalactic
- 3:33historic making film. But all of this was because I was working for 30 years to get to that point.
- 3:42So your point is well taken. And I think people need reminded of that. If they open their
- 3:47business today, they should not expect to sell out today. If they write a book this week,
- 3:53they should not expect it to be a best seller next week. They should be doing the plugging
- 3:58along, doing the action steps, and trusting that yeah, planting seeds. And a little later,
- 4:04you'll get the pluck the fruit. So let's talk about, let's talk about taking the first step.
- 4:12I was, you know, I was reading a little bit of the money, love, speed. So that's like that's
- 4:18your latest book. And I was, I was thinking about, you know, how do I, because obviously there's a
- 4:23whole bunch of things that I wanted to speak about in your life and what you've done. But
- 4:28it's sort of dovetailing quite nicely into this. How do you take that first action? You know,
- 4:33I think that that's primarily what the book is about. But I'll let you sort of say it in your
- 4:37words, because I want to, I want to build out on that. So I think that's very valid for like right
- 4:41now, because people for the first time are realizing jobs aren't secure. They don't know what's going
- 4:46on all time high unemployment. How do you take an action now? What's the next step?
- 4:51Yeah, that's a great question. There's so many things I want to say relevant to that question,
- 4:55because I want to kind of unpack it. Do it. Go forward. Go forward. All right. Well, first of all,
- 5:01you know, we're in a pandemic right now. And people are worried about the virus. And I've made
- 5:09some videos for Twitter and social media, Facebook and Instagram where I said there's two viruses.
- 5:16There's two viruses. Everybody's hearing about the first virus and everybody's nervous about
- 5:21the virus and everybody's going home and hiding because of the virus. And
- 5:27rightly so, we should pay attention to what the health authorities are telling us. Wash your
- 5:32hands, do the social distancing, stay at home, do all of that stuff, because you need to take
- 5:37care of your health. But I'm not dismissing that. But there's a second virus. And the second virus
- 5:42is worse than the first. The second virus is the virus of the mind. The second virus is fear.
- 5:50When people fall into fear because they're watching the news media, which I say the solution is turn
- 5:56it off. The mainstream news is just going to make you shudder in your shoes and they're great at
- 6:02programming you for fear and insecurity. So I say turn it off. And if you're really concerned
- 6:07about what's going on in the world, go on a mainstream news diet. Listen to the headlines
- 6:12for five minutes. See what you need to do. Turn the sucker off. The other thing that's going on
- 6:18is when we fall into fear, ironically, we lower our immune system. When we lower our immune system,
- 6:23we make it easier for the first virus to come and visit us. So what I've been advising people is
- 6:30we got to focus on the positive. Jason Miraz has a new song right now called Look for the Good.
- 6:36And boy, do I love that message because I wrote it. I recorded a song called Look for the Light.
- 6:41It's the same concept. Look for the good. Look for the light. Look for the positive. It's always
- 6:46there. It's the old Mr. Rogers thing. He says even in disasters, look for the helpers.
- 6:52There are people doing good things. In fact, I think the warriors of our times right now are the
- 6:58Amazon delivery drivers and the food service people who are coming to our door bringing us
- 7:05grub to eat. So we have new heroes out there. But what I say is you got to focus on the positive.
- 7:12Now this ties into what action do you take? If you focus on the positive, you can start to see
- 7:18with a little bit more clarity that there are opportunities here. In fact, you mentioned that there
- 7:22are millions of people who are unemployed. In my mind, I translate that to say there are millions
- 7:27of people who are about to become entrepreneurs. I think that what's going on with
- 7:34this pandemic is almost a divine conspiracy. It's almost like the divine, which I some people
- 7:42would call that God. You can call it the universe. You can call it source. You can call it the higher
- 7:47power. You can call it nature. Whenever you want to call it, that's bigger than all of us.
- 7:52I think it's sent us to our room. I think it's put us on notice.
- 7:57I think what this divine conspiracy is is a conspiracy for good. So let me explain that real quick,
- 8:07because when people are told go inside and what they're looking at is go inside your room,
- 8:12go inside your house. I reinterpret that in a metaphysical way. Go inside means go inside yourself.
- 8:21Go inside. This is our time to meditate, to contemplate, to reset, to reconnect. This is our
- 8:28time to be alone. And we're being told, stay away from others, at least six feet away,
- 8:33social distancing kind of a thing. So it's almost like we've been put on an enforce spiritual
- 8:39retreat. So okay, so now we're inside, we're meditating, we're contemplating, we're reflecting,
- 8:45and maybe we get to see that, what are some opportunities here? All those times we said,
- 8:50I wish I had time to fill in the blank. You now have time to do it.
- 8:55Anybody who's ever said, boy, if I had time, I'd write a book. Boy, if I had time, I'd learn how to
- 8:59play the saxophone. Boy, if I had time, I'd learn a language. Go to YouTube, type in how to fill
- 9:06in the blank. And there will be tutorials free for you to watch over the great gift that we didn't
- 9:13have a hundred years ago. And we had the other pandemic, the great gift being the internet,
- 9:17Facebook, social media, and what you're doing right here, using and leveraging it for good.
- 9:23So all of this is to say it's our time to go within. Now as we go within, we're going to get ideas.
- 9:29And as we get ideas, this is where action comes up. The whole point of the title, the title of the
- 9:36book is Money Love Speed. It's one of the eight laws of money. And Money Love Speed means that when
- 9:42you have an idea for a product or service, you want to speedily, quickly, rapidly act on it.
- 9:50Partly because when you have an idea, it feels good. And that feeling good is an energy, is an
- 9:58electricity that you can use to manifest your idea. One of the reasons I've had 80 some books, and in
- 10:06fact, you listed this as my most recent book. But while you were speaking, I released another book,
- 10:12the art. And this is because I know money loves speed. Yeah. So here we are acting on it. And this
- 10:22is what I tell people to do. And you have an idea, you see an opportunity, you need to act. Part of it
- 10:28is just using the momentum of the energy that came with the idea. Another part of it is I believe
- 10:35the universe, the cosmos, whatever you want to call it, collective unconscious, is feeding ideas
- 10:41to us. And they're gifts. And the sooner you act on an idea that comes as a gift, the sooner you will
- 10:46profit from it in the marketplace. I want to say one more thing because I'm on a roll with this.
- 10:51And like I said, I have a lot of things to say. It's good. One more thing when people consider action,
- 10:56they often say, well, I don't know what to do or I don't know where to start. And that's when they
- 11:00procrastinate. Well procrastination comes from overwhelm. And what I tell people, it's the old
- 11:07Theodore Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt said, do what you can with what you have right where you are.
- 11:13That's it. I tell people, look where your shoes are. All right, on your feet. What is the first
- 11:20baby step you can make right now? The baby step. I'm not asking you to complete a business plan
- 11:26or open the business or finish the book and write the end. I'm saying, what is the first step you
- 11:32can take right now? There's always a first step. An easy baby kindergarten simple first step.
- 11:40That's the step you take. And here's the profound great news. You take that step.
- 11:46The next baby step becomes apparent. You take that step. The next baby step becomes apparent.
- 11:53Steve Jobs said, you cannot connect the dots of your life looking forward. You can connect them looking
- 12:00backwards. But looking forward, you sit here looking out into the future and you don't know what the
- 12:05dots are. You don't know where the dots are going to lead. You can't explain it. You can't create the
- 12:09map to it because it doesn't exist yet. But if you look backwards, you can tell the story like I can
- 12:17now of how I got here. But the story of how I got here is so incredibly unpredictable. That I
- 12:23never would have been able to tell anybody how I got on the internet. We didn't know what the
- 12:27internet was. It didn't exist when I was in college or on an unemployed and broke in the 70s.
- 12:34Same with the movie The Secret. I never would have guessed I'd be in a movie because I didn't know
- 12:38that the movie was ever going to be made. You cannot predict, but you can look and see the baby step.
- 12:45And that, Scott, is where the first step is. But baby step, take that.
