It's still leaving living all right, Let's complain to see the faith tells people
0:38
lost the song back thanks to see he leaves Basbee Young Girl said that N
0:50
said, I don't tell, Gety tell, Jill, Jimmy. Welcome,
1:04
everybody, Welcome. So this week's edition this No Real, No Show Episomber
1:10
seven or thirty two for February twenty second, twenty twenty four. This year
1:15
at we Elimination Chamber BREVI and Predictions edition of as r TE you I am
1:22
one after the show, I am Jeff Pack, joined every single week by
1:26
my homes going only, Doctor Prey, Franklin, Doctor Trey. Happy fourteenth
1:30
anniversary of SRTU. My friend. Yeah, I know we can legally.
1:34
We can legally almost buy beer on the show. We're getting closed. I
1:38
mean, we can almost legally vote. We can almost legally drive right now.
1:44
I'm just impressed that we've both hit SRTU. Puberty and NONI of our
1:48
voices are cracking. That is true. That is true. You know,
1:51
I thought about throwing up the first episode with with myself and Eric Ardullo,
1:55
throw up the first episode with you and I because it's always fun to like
1:59
listen back and hear how our voices sounded back then, Oh, the torture
2:05
would be real because I think, like even on the first episode I called
2:07
in on, my voice was cracking. So I was nervous. By the
2:13
way, I don't ever I told you I was so nervous to call in
2:15
to you guys that first night that was the you're talking about the Bower showtime,
2:20
right, No, I mean like when you like the when you guys
2:23
went live and a blog talk live calls yep, yep. I was so
2:29
nervous to call in because you know, Eric had the impressive resume, and
2:34
at that point I was just, you know, this dumb, lonely,
2:37
fat guy that loved wrestling in the north North Carolina. I didn't have anything
2:40
on my resume. It kind of brought myself up when it came to wrestling,
2:46
So I was I was really nervous that Eric would just basically because Eric
2:49
knew that you and I were friends, and you know, there's that little
2:52
bit of jealousy that kind of comes into play when you're competing for the attention
2:54
of a Velvettne voice podcaster, and I was afraid that ar would like just
3:00
be super dismissive and if anything I ever had to say so, I was
3:04
kind of completely terrified of Eric Garzulo that first time I called in. Yeah,
3:07
shout out to Eric. I haven't spoken to him in a really long
3:09
time. For those who may not know, Eric was the original co host
3:15
of SRTU. He was on the show for about like two years with me.
3:19
The first two years of SRTU, it was always like that preview prediction
3:23
special heading into WrestleMania twenty eight that I always remember, the one in Miami
3:29
where Doctor Trey joined, and that was the beginning of Doctor Trey and I
3:32
doing the show together for a really long time. Eric popped in every now
3:37
and again, like in that first year that Doctor Trey had taken over as
3:43
the full time co host of SRTU, but he hasn't been on in a
3:46
really long time. Eric is a good dude. He used to hold a
3:50
host of a show called Pro Wrestling Radio. He was the original voice,
3:54
the very first commentator for Ring of Honors first show, and he was with
4:00
cz W for a really long time. I actually saw a clip the other
4:02
day of a young Kevin Owens then known as Kevin Stein or his real name
4:09
Kevin Stein in a match with Elgenerica. I think it was their CZW debut,
4:13
and Eric was doing commentary for the match, and I was like,
4:15
holy shit, there's Eric, and yeah, him and I are still Facebook
4:18
friends, but I have not spoken Eric in a really long time. I
4:23
hope he's doing well. He had left the show because he had just gotten
4:27
married, and yeah, he was a busy guy at that point. I
4:30
think he's basically not doing anything with professional arrests anymore because his old blog,
4:33
caml Clutch Blog, I don't think it exists anymore. Yeah, and at
4:38
one point, that was one of the biggest, you know, websites for
4:43
wrestling information and opinions in a lot of time. Emember talking to you and
4:47
you're talking about like, hey, I got an article, I got a
4:49
post up on Gamba Clutch and I was always kind of envious of that of
4:55
that stuff. But no, Eric is fantastic. Funny you mentioned Facebook friends
5:00
a couple of people from uh, you know, the Old Wrestling Show,
5:04
the old on the Trivia Show, Like, are still friends with those guys
5:09
on Facebook? So ea game show? Who are you friends with? Stell
5:13
Zach Oliver? Okay? Eighty eight Del junior fan eighty eight Dale junior fan.
5:16
Uh you know who I remember roasting pretty badly on one of the episodes,
5:25
what about why MoU Whymu I'm still friends with on Facebook and also Pokemon
5:31
go okay wow wow. Yeah. And then the guy that Bauer used to
5:38
do the show with was his name, the skinny guy, Eric Gray.
5:42
Eric Gray, I'm still friends with on one of my face on one of
5:45
my Facebook accounts with Eric Gray as well. Yeah, it's uh, it's
5:47
a wild ride. I mean, we launched the show back in February twentieth,
5:50
twenty ten, so I'll be actually coming up on my fifteenth year of
5:56
podcasting here relatively soon, which is insane. And the world that we had
6:00
built from that Wheelhouse podcast that launched into this podcast and everything else in between,
6:08
wrestle chat Net and various other forms Camic Clutch Blog that that we were
6:13
all part of it was. It's definitely shedded away a lot over the years.
6:17
There's not many people left hanging around. You know. The Wheelhouse is
6:21
no longer a podcast, The Bower Shows no longer a podcast, Camic Clutch
6:25
Blog no longer exists. Pro Wrestling Radio with Eric Cardruilo no longer exists,
6:31
Rust, Chattnet is all gone. It's like everything that we were all tied
6:36
to, and we're like the sole survivors here, Doctor Trey. Are we
6:40
the last Blockbuster? I think? So we're that blockbuster Blockbuster and what Oregon?
6:46
Yeah, it's actually uh my my old cameraman Lauren Lauren Campbell for uh
6:50
Raga City actually lives in Bend, Organ where the last Blockbuster is. Does
6:56
he have a membership? I actually so, I went about five years ago
7:02
up to do a job up there, and you didn't have to me,
7:04
you didn't have to have the membership card to get in. But I think
7:08
in one of my old storageingits because I don't know if you remember this,
7:12
that I actually managed a Blockbuster at one point. Oh yeah, remember And
7:15
when our store closed down, I took the uh the new arrival sign up
7:21
that they used to have the all the new all the new movies and new
7:25
releases I used. I took that sign I took the Blockbuster a little log
7:30
book they had that you had to sign in on when you first got there,
7:33
and I took a bunch of the racks that the movies were on,
7:35
and I actually did my living room with a lot of I had all my
7:40
DVDs on Blockbuster racks in my living room at one points. I think they're
7:43
actually a storage and I were in North Carolina. Still, that's pretty cool.
7:46
Yeah, I mean we're getting a little nostalgic here because uh yeah,
7:49
Doctor Trey. I mean the amount of times we've We've mentioned it every now
7:54
and again on the show, but like literally I think we've done this show
7:57
every hour in the day. Like legitimately, there have been times that we
8:01
did the show at midnight into one am. When I was working for ESPN
8:05
Radio and Bristol, Connecticut, we literally were doing shows at like four am
8:09
Eastern Standard time, and we were doing that because I was coming off of
8:13
work. Doctor Trey was getting ready to go into work, and that was
8:16
like legitimately the only time that him and I could record the podcast and keep
8:20
it going. And we were doing that at like four four am, five
8:22
am talking professional wrestling. I mean, we've done it like anytime any place
8:28
anywhere, it's it's it's apropos. Doctor Trey's recording the podcast this week sitting
8:33
in his car, which was a huge studio location for you. Most of
8:39
the time in the beginning stages of the show Doctor Trey. One of these
8:43
days, I'm gonna sit down and actually do the math on how many states
8:46
I've actually recorded the podcast in, because I'm pretty sure I've done the podcast
8:54
in basically, I would say over half the states in this country. I
9:01
think that would be a fair assumptionect because for a while, I mean,
9:05
I think if you're coming up on fifteen years, I'm probably coming up on
9:09
close to eleven. And for a good chunk of that, for probably good
9:13
seven years I was traveling. Yeah. So remember when I used to always
9:18
we would do the intro and I would be like, where in the world
9:20
is doctor tre Franklin this week? Yeah? So I mean if I sit
9:22
down, I actually do the math and think about, like, you know,
9:26
the place I've stayed in more than a week, I would say I've
9:28
probably done the show in at least twenty five to thirty different states. Wow.
9:33
Yeah, no, I believe it. And you and I have done
9:35
the show probably at least now maybe five hundred and fifty to six hundred episodes,
9:43
and so subtract two years, which would be one hundred and roughly one
9:48
hundred and four episodes. Yeah, something like that, right, Yeah,
9:52
so, and I think the only time that you and I have ever recorded
9:56
a podcast in the same room was the very first year that I started,
10:01
when you came up to New York City. It was like my second podcast
10:03
of all time, starting with Bower. Yeah, we've never done this show
10:09
together. Yeah, we were ahead of the technological curve when it came to
10:16
being able to record the show wherever, whenever, and now like Zoom and
10:20
Google Meet and what have you have taken over, and we continued to be
10:26
able to host a show in different parts of the country away from each other
10:31
and still do it like it's we're in the same room with one another.
10:35
Yeah. I mean it's funny. As much technology has progressed, we're still
10:39
in like twenty eleven, so we're still doing on Skype with no video for
10:43
anybody to watch. What was the most memorable times for you in SRT Usually
10:50
like obviously the episodes when people have passed away, so like you know,
10:54
most recently the Bray White episode, the Luke harpress. I remember the Dusty
10:58
Rhodes episode was hard for me because there were certain people I like. Once
11:01
I got into wrestling, there were certain people I wanted to meet, and
11:05
then it was just like a rush of them passing away. Roddy Piper,
11:09
you know, Dusty, Like just a bunch of guys that were on the
11:11
indies had passed, and I was just like, damn, is this another
11:15
one my hero's going down? Let's see the you know me getting stopped by
11:20
the police episode is up there I have, which apparently I think you told
11:28
me a couple weeks ago that that is no longer your favorite episode where something
11:31
happens to me. It's the Sammy hitting me with a feign object episodes now
11:35
your favorite one. Yes. When I came to with some of my favorite
11:39
sound bites of all time, it was like you were doing something all of
11:43
a sudden you got hit with a bull by Sammy just out of nowhere,
11:48
the old RKO out of nowhere, the some of the ones I did.
11:54
There was a a we did like three or four weeks in a row when
11:56
I was working overnights that we record the show at like one o'clock in the
12:01
morning, and I was literally behind a store, like in a random shopping
12:05
center, sitting out back on the basically the little lonely area recording the show,
12:11
like one o'clock in the morning and you're like, who's in the store
12:13
with you? I'm like, nobody's just me by myself at one o'clock in
12:16
the morning putting beauty supplies on the shelf. So those are some good old
12:20
days. And then you know, most recently, like you know, you
12:26
getting married was a great episode for me because I just I was I always
12:30
felt like it's like I knew you and Kim were going to catch up to
12:33
me at some point because I was just like, I think I've been hounding
12:35
you for about seven years about getting there. Yeah, so it just took
12:41
a little while, just took some browbeating to beat it into you a little
12:45
bit. But uh, you know, like seeing you go from the young
12:48
man that was kind of like just just happy to be there and be a
12:54
part of broadcasting to where you've progressed you now, like I'm so proud of
12:58
it. I've seeing how far you've come this. Yeah, I appreciate that,
13:01
man, I appreciate that a lot. Like when I think about some
13:03
podcasts too, that stood out to me. I just think of like the
13:07
pandemic era all the time now, like that was that was almost forty years
13:11
ago, and I just remember we had like nothing to do, and we
13:16
were doing watch along shows. Remember we interviewed Dave Willis, the guy who
13:20
said it's still real to me, damn it, who just reached out to
13:24
me a few weeks ago. Really, he just randomly reached out to you.
13:28
Well, what happened was I think somebody had posted a clip of the
13:33
whole you know, It's still real to me, damn it. And it
13:37
was somebody I knew, and I tagged him in the post. It just
13:41
you know, made a nice little compliment what a nice you know, how
13:43
gracious and nice Dave was. I think I said, you know, that's
13:46
actually where our show got our name from. Dave came on the show,
13:48
was super nice and gracious, and he messaged me He's like, hey,
13:52
I just want to say, really appreciate it. Still revery on the show.
13:54
Its great time, Thank you guys so much. Yeah, yeah,
13:58
he was. He was a lot of fun. I remember where he just
14:00
like would start talking about stuff like in depth wrestling that he grew up on.
14:07
But yeah, that pandemic era was wild because we were just basically we
14:11
had nothing to do. I remember like watching WrestleMania, like it was the
14:16
most insane thing of all time. That entire time period was really really wild
14:20
and insane. It's also got a lot of creative juices going in professional wrestling.
14:24
You about to say something, Doctor Tryck, Yeah, doesn't like the
14:28
Thunderdome era. It's just kind of feel like a fever dream. Yeah,
14:33
it feels like it wasn't that long ago, but it's coming upon four years
14:35
and I think the farther we get away from the better off feel. Yeah.
14:39
It. What's weird is like they actually have that in one of the
14:43
WWE games. I think it might be two K twenty two, they actually
14:48
have the screens up around the ring and there's like random faces popping up.
14:52
I'm like sitting there like it's almost like a weird dream that that whole time
14:56
period didn't happen in a sense, but it's like, yeah, like it's
15:01
a constant mind, but like it was all like you and I try to
15:03
stay so positive, but in reality it was like doom and gloom everywhere.
15:07
It was just like, look, we have to do the show just because
15:11
A we owe it to our we owe it to the audience, and then
15:13
b we owe it to ourselves to like just have an hour to two hours
15:18
a week where we can just like not think about, you know, the
15:22
calamity crashing down around us, and just talk about wrestling. And even though
15:26
wrestling wasn't really good, it was still something different that other than just what
15:31
we were hearing on the news and from everybody else. Yeah, yeah,
15:35
that was It was a time period, man, it was really real wild.
15:39
Cheers to everybody who's been in there supporting us involved for fourteen years of
15:43
the Still Realta Show. So we're proud of obviously seven hundred thirty two straight
15:48
episodes. We have not missed a week and we continue to give you,
15:52
guys, professional wrestling from two wrestling fans who just love watching wrestling each and
15:56
every week. So thank you all for the support for teen years of srt
16:03
UGH Getting nostalgic here, Doctor Trey seems aproposen fitting because on Friday's edition to
16:10
SmackDown, I got really nostalgic as the Rock came out and it was throwback
16:15
rock, full blown heel rock, and I got admit, Doctor Trey,
16:21
I loved every second of it. What were your thoughts as the Rock came
16:23
out this past Friday and aligned himself officially with the bloodline. I mean,
16:27
it was it was funny because it's been so long since the Rock has actually
16:33
been a heel character in WWE THATWT you almost forget how good he is at
16:37
just kind of flipping the script. And I had just came across a clip
16:41
of Rock Hogan after Wrestlemany eighteen when they when Rock had gone heel and Hogan
16:48
was a babyface, and I forgot that, Like I just for a moment
16:52
forgot how good he was in the mic in those moments, and we got
16:55
a taste of it on SmackDown. And it does it feels weird? I
17:00
will say, is it? Does? You know? Rock's you know,
17:02
right around fifty now, maybe fifty one, and he's standing in the ring
17:07
and there's Solo and there's Jimmy and there's Roman, and I don't want to
17:11
say he feels out of place, but it does kind of feel like Romans.
17:15
I don't say Roman's dead. It feels like the you know, the
17:18
big uncle stepped in the room, you know and just shut the kid's table
17:23
down a little bit. So I right now I kind of feel like Rock
17:29
is going to overshadow Roman for a little while. That might be the storyline
17:32
they go with to get to where they want to go at some point,
17:34
But it just it's a different energy and a different vibe. And I don't
17:41
I don't know how to say it's just but vintage rock being a heel though
17:45
like he's I will say that there are times I feel like he sounds a
17:48
little cornyish or a little bit of a pair, like a little bit of
17:53
a self. And I don't try to think it wasn't it a Parody's like
17:57
he's almost like a parody of himself at times. But I think it's just
18:00
because it's getting the Like we talked about ring rust, I think there's also
18:03
a little a thing called probo rust. If you haven't kind of good probo
18:07
in a while. I mean, I gotta admit I loved the line where
18:10
he's like, uh, where were they this past week? Utah? Like
18:12
Salt Lake City, Utah? Yeah, Like, listen, I want to
18:15
congratulate you. First off, I want to congratulate you all that you have
18:18
set an attendance record and the crowd starts cheering and crowd, you know,
18:23
going nuts, and an indoor attendance record for the most pieces of trailer park
18:29
trash I've ever seen. I thought that was a great line. Ironically enough,
18:33
Salt Lake City was actually the last Dynamite before the pandemic hits. Oh
18:37
yeah, well, good times, very good times. According to Wrestling Observer
18:41
newsletter, Dwayne the Rock Johnson over the weekend following his appearance on SmackDown where
18:48
Cody Rhoads removed himself from the match put Rock in there, said it was
18:52
best to be out of the Roman Reigns match and put Cody Rhads in,
18:56
which by that point everyone conceded by Rock, who then pitched the heel turn
19:00
and the idea of the Reins and Rock versus Roads and Rollins match for Wrestlemting
19:04
nine one that is still not official, so maybe things could potentially change.
19:10
But according to reports, Rock was the one who pitched the He'll turn and
19:14
I mean doctor Trey, he turns heel and then turns babyface in like the
19:18
same segment because the fan base ate it up and loved it. Rock from
19:25
ninety seven to ninety nine, just before in even a little bit up further
19:29
on worry he turned Babyface was probably some of his best work as the Rock
19:33
and why he got so over like nineteen ninety eight is a huge year for
19:37
the Rock into ninety nine, and I love that he came out and he
19:41
was wearing the five hundred dollars shirt which was a vest, Like, I
19:47
love that throwback. The stuff that he was saying was very reminiscent of that
19:51
time period as well. He still needs to throw in a little bit of
19:53
Rudy Pooh candy asses in there, but it was like, man, this
19:59
is this is great, this is awesome, this is fun. This was
20:03
the right move, and it's very well possible because he was getting such a
20:08
good reaction in Salt Lake City that rockets cheered no matter who he's across the
20:14
ring of. In Philadelphia at WRESTLEMANI forty, I loved it. I thought
20:19
it was great, right turn. But it's like he went from babyface to
20:23
heel and then heel to babyface all in the span of two weeks. Amongst
20:29
the fans' eyes. I just can't see fans hating on the Rock right now.
20:33
They're gonna eat this up like him trash talking them yes and so on
20:38
a much smart scale. There there have been times in my career like I've
20:41
bounced back at fourteen heel and babyface, but I'm a way better heel than
20:45
I have a baby face. And I have had fans come up to me
20:52
after the show and like have been yelling at me, booing me, cussing
20:59
me out during the show, and then come up to me after the show
21:00
and go, I just want to say, what a great job you got,
21:03
Like, what a great job you did. That was fantastic. I
21:06
loved every minute of it. And I'm like, and I kind of get
21:08
that same vibe from the rock where we are happy to be booing him,
21:15
like it makes us feel good because he's doing his job so well. It's
21:18
a little bit like you know, when the miss is really when the miss
21:22
is really you know, killing it as a heel, you and I say,
21:26
here, go, he's doing such a great job, Like I want
21:27
to punch him in the face. He's doing such a great job. It's
21:30
like this weird admiration because we know what you're like, what you're doing.
21:37
We admire the work in it, but we also love the fact that our
21:41
emotions get taken for the ride with him. So I just think a back
21:44
a couple weeks ago, when you know the Rock was on Pat mcabee's show
21:48
and he's basically tell everybody to like shut their mouths and enjoy the ride.
21:51
This is what he was talking about. And I think it's it's part of
21:55
it too, is like they love them to saw jact like it's so cool
21:57
and it's not something we saw just figured that he would come back out the
22:00
way that he was at the kickoff special for WrestleMania and that would be it.
22:04
But for him to go throw back, it's like, oh man,
22:07
this is this is gonna be fun, this is gonna be good, and
22:11
I'm I'm happy to be part of the ride and people are gonna cheer him
22:14
and eat it up. I think the other thing is to Doctor Trey,
22:18
is the vibe around this entire thing is that Rock will probably be turning on
22:22
him within the next eight weeks Roman reigns. I still think Roman solo.
22:27
Would Jimmy turn on him? Really yes, because like if he turns on
22:33
Roman, yeah, the crowd will eat it up and they'll cheer him.
22:36
But if he gets beat down by them, then he gets the sympathy behind
22:41
it too. And Babyfaces need to overcome obstacles and Rock against the rest of
22:47
the bloodline is an obstacle, where if Rock just turns on him straight up,
22:52
it's not as much of his obstacle. I think you need a little
22:55
bit of a factor. But what's a bigger What do you think is a
22:57
bigger pop him getting beat down by Jimmy Solo and Roman at Wrestling and forty
23:03
Maybe they take an l on the tag team match, or Rock costs Roman
23:08
or helps cost Roman the WE Championship against Cody Rhodes. I think it's Cody.
23:15
I think it's him helping Cody somehow Cody, but I still don't see.
23:19
And this is also I love it, like how like fancy Bookie.
23:23
I like the slow builds. I kind of want to see Rock and Roman
23:29
be kind of like a dominant thing on SmackDown for a little bit and then
23:33
get the Summer Slam or get to wrestleming a forty one with the payoff of
23:37
Rock and Roman. But that's me. I like the long, slow builds.
23:41
But I can see it. I can see them shotgunning it, and
23:45
you know, Rock costing Roman the match. I mean, there's all those
23:48
little subtle innuendos that people are picking up like easter eggs in a Deadpool three
23:52
trailer. You know, Oh he didn't do the one correctly. He made
23:56
an L and he was talking, he was looking at Roman while he was
23:59
talking to and all those little innuendo things like that. I can see them
24:02
pull the trigger earlier. But me, I'd like to see this play out
24:06
a little bit like what the two man ego trip of Austin In Triple A
24:08
or Austin Triple H was supposed to be before Triple H got hurt, that
24:12
it was gonna play out and they were gonna run rough shot over the company
24:15
for a while, until their egos got too big and they blew up,
24:19
you know, mega powers explode things like that. Like I like seeing those
24:23
two big egos try to work together for a while and then explode. I'm
24:27
with you, I just don't think that works because of the Rock schedule.
24:30
I'm in total agreement with you. If I thought Rock was gonna be around
24:34
from like now to August Summer Slam, I would say, let it play
24:37
out, let this grow, let them continue to work together. But because
24:41
of Rock schedule, I just feel like it's going to be heel until Mania
24:45
turns babyface, and then that takes us into like Rock returning at SummerSlam or
24:51
whatever at that point. Well, I just I don't know what his schedule
24:55
is now that he's actually on the board and is trying to be a part
25:00
of all this. I mean, that's that's the one thing that nobody's really
25:03
said, is what's his schedule? Like, I mean, honestly, his
25:06
last couple of movies haven't been huge successes. The us the XFL and the
25:11
USFL merged. I know he's still part of that organization. Yeah, he's
25:17
like the face of it basically. I mean, he's got seven other companies.
25:19
I love. I love when Tyler Braings always mentions every single company that
25:22
Rock runs on their up, up, Down Down show. But you know,
25:27
you really don't know what his schedule is. So I mean they him
25:32
and Rome could almost sync up schedules, and I still think we would kind
25:34
of eat that up if it got us to a big Summer Slam or WRESTLINGIA
25:40
forty one payoff match. All right, last question, or Doctor Trey,
25:42
was this character change for the Rock everything that you saw on Friday SmackDown the
25:48
right move and are you excited for what's coming forward? I think it is
25:52
the right move. Because what it does is it sets up obstacles for Cody
25:56
to overcome, which you need to become a big baby face star. And
26:00
if you're building the company around Cody, you don't need Cody being overshadowed by
26:07
the Rock. So if Rock came in to fight Roman, Cody's gonna get
26:11
overshadowed until he finally gets his own breakout moment. So this kind of appeases
26:15
the masses and still gets people to tune into WrestleMania, So you're kind of
26:19
getting the best of both worlds here, Greed, Greed, I think it's
26:23
really exciting. I love the segment, love the character change, and I'm
26:27
pumped to see where things go for the Rock moving forward into WrestleMania season.
26:33
Doctor Trey. Something I've noticed on WE programming lately has been the changes with
26:40
the way that they deliver programming on WWE as of late, whether it be
26:45
these walk ups into the arena where it's always like one twenty two Eastern time
26:49
or two twenty two Pacific Standard time, whether they're showing Cody Rhoades or Ridea
26:55
Ripley entering a stadium, little subtle things. I really am digging that and
26:59
enjoy in it. If you go within the arena, you're seeing graphics now
27:04
which aren't so busy as they used to be, Like around the barricades and
27:10
the ring apron themselves, it's just a simple black background with the raw logo
27:14
w E logo. You got that around the arena as well. The lights
27:18
now are no longer the colors of the show, whether it be red or
27:22
blue. Red for Raw, blue for SmackDown. It's back to that clear
27:27
coloring that we all kind of grew up. In the attitude area. You
27:30
could see the crowd a lot better. It's it's these subtle things since Kevin
27:36
Doune left that are very noticeable with the graphics, the production, the way
27:40
things are promoted on television that I'm really digging lately, and I've really enjoyed
27:45
this turn that w W has taken with their with their programming as of late.
27:48
Have you noticed it and is it noticeable to you where it's it's in
27:52
a good way per se. Yeah, I've noticed it that in like the
27:59
busyness of it, Like they're not graphics flashing up all the time. It's
28:02
not constant movement going around when it times time for matches, it's we focus
28:07
on the entering stuff. We focus on you know, the promotions or stuff
28:12
like that when we're doing the backstage show, on the walk ups and things
28:15
like that, Like the little things like that. And it's one of those
28:18
things I try to teach when i'm you know, teaching guys in marketing and
28:22
sales is sometimes you know, less is more, simple is better. You
28:26
want to keep things as simple and as easy for people to understand and not
28:30
divert their attention in three or four different ways, like keep it straight to
28:34
the message. And I think that's what they're delivering now, is you're giving
28:37
it a little bit more of an authentic vibe with it still being a wrestling
28:42
promotion. A lot of it is you're seeing a lot of the throwback to
28:45
what black and NXT Black and Gold was or why it was successful and why
28:49
you know, a lot of diehard wrestling fans fond over it. It was
28:52
a little bit of the realism mixed in with you know, the storytelling that
28:57
is WW He's also what made you know, Nitro great back in the day,
29:02
was you kind of blurred these lines sometimes between what's real and you know,
29:06
what's a shoot and what's the work and those walk ups, those things
29:10
like that is part of that. I just always think it's funnyhen I see
29:12
guys walking up at like one o'clock in the bell time seven, because then
29:17
independent wrestling at the bell time seven guys are showing up at like six fifteen.
29:21
So it's a little bit different in the independent world as opposed to wrestling,
29:23
but they're actually showing up six hours before bell time. Yeah, there's
29:26
a little bit more of a sport to what we're seeing, Like it's more
29:30
of a sports presentation for professional wrestling then it has been in years past.
29:36
And it's been very It started subtle and it's starting to grow where you're starting
29:41
to see people online really start to notice it. And it's been enjoyable.
29:45
It's been an enjoyable watch. It's not as busy, it's just straightforward and
29:48
it is what it is and I'm digging it and I hope it continues moving
29:52
forward here in we because it's been a nice change. And all of that
29:56
is doing part to Kevin Dunn retiring. Base From all accounts is these changes
30:03
are happening because Kevin Dunn is no longer in charge of WA programming. And
30:06
what you see on television each week for the last twenty five to thirty years,
30:10
and I'm digging it. I'm digging the change. It's noticeable. Thumbs
30:14
up all around world wrestling Entertainment switching gears our weekly segment here heading into Wrestlemanning
30:19
the Wrestlemaning forty Card roundup. Nothing was confirmed this past week. We're still
30:25
sitting on Eosky and Bailey and Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Some rumored expected
30:30
matches that we saw potentially progress forward. I think the easiest one here Doctor
30:33
Trey is Jay us versus Jimmy USO is Jimmy cost Jay the Intercontinental Championship on
30:40
Monday's Raw. It's clearly now showing that we're going to be getting Jimmy and
30:44
Jay at Wrestle Many. A lot of the camera shots that they took place,
30:48
going back to the way that the show is being filmed, was a
30:51
lot of motions towards the big WrestleMania logo that sits up over in the top
30:57
of the arena during every show, Jay Jimmy pointing to it at one point.
31:03
It seemed like a lot of the shots were meant for the package that
31:06
will eventually air heading into their match at WRESTLEMANI forty. Like the wrestle Mania
31:11
of forty log was kind of like the thought bubble that they used to have
31:14
in the comic books and stuff like that. It's like, uh huh,
31:17
yeah, you want to fight, And then the slow turned towards the WrestleMania
31:21
sign. It's like, oh, there's the thought bubble. But yeah,
31:22
it does feel like they were heading that way, and it's it's fantastic.
31:26
I mean, we've we've had father and son. Now we're gonna get twins
31:30
going at it. I mean, and if the Bellas cann't pull this off,
31:33
I don't know who else can except for Jimmy and Jay. So there
31:34
you go. The other thing is here is gunther right. I don't know
31:40
what they're gonna do with Guntherer. Because the rumor has been Brock listener,
31:44
it was basically confirmed that Brock and Gunthroer we're going to be having a match
31:48
of Wrestleman of forty. Up until Brock was dragged into the vincick Man allegations.
31:55
I thought that maybe bron Breaker could be the person meant to take on
31:59
Guntherer but then he signed with SmackDown. I saw the exchange with Pat McAfee
32:06
going crazy for Jay Usso's theme song, putting his hands up in the air
32:10
and Gun They're looking at him and then calling him a stooge on Twitter.
32:14
I'm like, can they be doing Pat McAfee versus Gun through Wrestumani, which
32:19
I would not be down for whatsoever? And then the wave they're building the
32:23
New Day right now makes me wonder, could we see all three members of
32:29
Imperium take on all three members of the New Day and Big Eye returns to
32:35
save his brothers of the New Day. You know, there's a lot of
32:37
rumors out there he may never wrestle again, his career may be over.
32:40
But there's three of them, there's two of them. I'm like, could
32:44
they be going that direction? I guess that's really the only other thing from
32:47
a potential Wrestum and he forty card perspective. I wanted to bring up this
32:51
week, Doctor Trace because there's a little bit of a cloud right now on
32:53
what they're gonna do with the Intercontinental Championship. Maybe it's Sammy's name, Maybe
32:58
it's a three on three with Imperium and Day with Biggie returning. I don't
33:01
know, but there's a lot of question marks right now. I've since Braun
33:06
signed with SmackDown Friday Night, I've been leaning kind of Sammy's aying, just
33:09
because we need something for Sammy to do, I've been trying to figure out.
33:13
Usually when you have a match like the Elimation Chamber and that's coming up,
33:17
and Gunther's in that match, but for all intentsive purposes, once again,
33:22
what if it might be gunp it still might end up being Gunther in
33:25
seth you know and the how. But isn't Gunther in the Chamber match?
33:32
No? No, he's not. Oh that's my mistake. I thought he
33:36
was in. He confused the shit out of me. I was like,
33:37
how are you? How do you see this taking place? I'm interested?
33:43
So yeah, I've been trying to figure out then, like where do they
33:47
go from here with with Gunther? Because I'm with you, I thought I
33:52
was gonna be bron breaker. You know, he signs with SmackDown, so
33:55
that kind of takes him off off the menu, so to speak. You
34:00
know, Sammy Zay, you know, maybe it's a John Cena match at
34:05
WrestleMania. Maybe we go that route. But once again, like, I
34:07
don't think he brings Sena back to fight Gunther after he just you know,
34:10
kind of took the ass kick against Solo not too long ago. So yeah,
34:15
it's really up in the air. I don't know if we're gonna do
34:17
some kind of crazy, weird gauntlet match or you know, elimination match.
34:22
You know, got me out after Chamber to pick his opponent. But I'd
34:27
be on board and bring it back to Chad Gable stuff because Gable's still super
34:30
over, so I'd be fine with circling Gable back around. Yeah, Gable
34:34
was a lot of fun. He got a big win over IVR on Monday's
34:36
Raw as well, so that'd be pretty cool. So that's really it for
34:39
me, Doctor trey On on the RUSTLMANI forty card stuff. I obviously will
34:44
have a clearer picture on next week's edition in the podcast, But is there
34:45
anything that you saw from programming this past week that I may be missing.
34:50
I'm still like the I still kind of think it's gonna Becky winning the Chamber
34:53
and getting the real Ripley match because of the interactionally Becky, Naya and Rhea.
34:59
But the yeah, we might do it they might do a three way
35:01
at Wressell, Jamesween and all three of those ladies. That would be interesting.
35:05
Yeah, yeah, that would that would be interesting. But I think
35:07
with doing the elimination chairing match, I'm not really too keen on just adding
35:12
another person in there that maybe not was not in the match. This upcoming
35:15
Saturday, well, I mean, maybe there's some kind of weird finish with
35:20
Rhea and Naya. Naya comes out and complains about the finish and blames it
35:23
being in Australia. Becky's won the chamber if Nya, If Nya blamed it
35:29
on Australia, I would be like, but you knew where you were wrestling,
35:32
but she didn't get to pick it. But yeah, she just woke
35:35
up and all of a sudden was in Australia. That'd be a trip,
35:37
you know. But then you know, Nya is tied to the Bloodline stuff,
35:40
and it wouldn't surprise me if she gets factored into, you know,
35:45
a main event women's title match, you know, with you know, her
35:46
cousin kind of helping run the company right now, or being on the board
35:50
directors with the company. Yeah, okay, that would be interesting. I
35:52
mean she's tied to that behind the scenes. We haven't seen that play out
35:55
too much on television evers, but that would be pretty cool. Or maybe
35:59
uh Ava throws herself into the match just because the GM's backdown in the rocks
36:02
to Dad. Yeah, I'm sure fans wouldn't revolt at all on that.
36:07
No. Forget, she did have interaction with Paul Hayman on NXT a couple
36:12
months ago. As she mentioned it when she got the position that a wise
36:15
man told her blah blah blah blah. Sure it all right, let's switch
36:22
gears to w W Elimination Chamber Premium live event. This is our previeum predictions
36:28
this Saturday from Uptus Stadium in Burstwood, Western Australia, Australia. Uh,
36:34
it'll be airing five am here for me, four am for Doctor Trey Dot
36:38
Trey. Will you be watching live? Uh? If I am, that
36:43
means the wife and I have got a huge fight and I'm sleeping on the
36:45
couch. Okay, fair enough, Yeah, I I probably am not.
36:50
Maybe I catch half of half of the show and I wake up on Saturday,
36:54
because I do wake up pretty early. Yeah. The only way I'm
36:57
watching it is if I find out Billy K will on the show, and
37:00
then I might tune in to see Billy K because I do love some Billy
37:04
K. Yeah, little Peyton Royce as well. Peyton and you know Sean
37:08
Spears are having kids and doing all that stuff. But uh, you know
37:13
Billy, Billy's free to roam around. Billy just had a kid, Doctor
37:15
Trey. Well, then there you go. So maybe uh we just do
37:20
like a big daycare thing with all the misses kids and the daycare match kids,
37:24
and yeah, we just have a baby rumble and that's how Dominic wins.
37:29
Dominic wins match. All right, let's get into it here. The
37:31
Judgment Day defend the undisputed WA Tag Team Championship against the newly known New Catch
37:37
Republic Pete Dunn and Tyler Bate Doctor Trey. Who do you like in this
37:42
match? Well, I want to take the I'm gonna take the Judgment Day
37:45
just because I hate the name. I hate the name because they have the
37:50
No Catch quarter crew in NXT. Yes, doesn't they get confusing? I
37:54
was literally like, this is confusing to me, So I'm taking. I'm
37:59
taking. Well then again, Judgment Day is named after an no old pay
38:00
per view. So these horrible names, they really need to hire somebody come
38:05
up better names. But I'll think Judgment Day Getty Way. I'm going to
38:07
take the Judgment Day to retain as well. Next match is Rhea Ripley defending
38:12
the WA Women's World CHAMPIONIP against Naya Jacks. I've really enjoyed this bill that
38:15
they have done a fantastic job of making Naya Jacks the first real competitor to
38:22
take it to Rhea Ripley, who continues to beat up Rhea Ripley each and
38:24
every week. We have not seen that during this title run, not at
38:28
all since this dominance of her in the last near two years. They've done
38:31
a really good good job of making this a believable opponent for Ria Ripley on
38:37
Saturday. But nonetheless, you don't let the hometown girl lose in her hometown.
38:43
She is going to get a Heroes welcome, probably the biggest pop of
38:46
the night. I would even make a case that this should be the match
38:50
that closes out the show, but I don't think it will, being that
38:52
the elimination chamber is on the card. With that said, of course,
38:57
I'm taking Ria Ripley in this one, Doctor Trey, we don't let the
39:00
hometown girl lose, but we had Drew McIntyre lose to Roman Reigns at Cardiff.
39:05
Well, unless she's taken on Roman, I don't think that's gonna happen.
39:08
Well, she's taken on Roman's family, Jeff, No, it's if
39:14
this is the Vince big Man era. There's part of me that would pick
39:16
Niage because that'd be a Vince move to let the hometown girl lose. Yeah,
39:21
he would like insult in like ten seconds. Yeah, he'd make her
39:23
join the Kiss My Ass Club after the match. But New World that we
39:28
live in. Ria is being booked as the baby face in this angle heading
39:31
into Australia, so I'm taking to Rea to retain as well. All right,
39:36
next match, here's the Women's Elimination Chamber match winner gets a w Women's
39:39
World Champion match at Restraining forty. They will take on either Ria Ripley or
39:44
Naya Jackson. There's Becky Lynch, Bianca bell Air, Live, Morgan,
39:46
Tiffany Stratton, Naomi and ra Kel Rodriguez in this match, Doctor Trey,
39:51
who do you like in this one man where Kel Rodriguez came out of nowhere.
39:53
Uh totally almost forgot about her. But that being said, this is
39:59
heading into Mania, you look for who your biggest draw is going to be.
40:01
I'm taking Becky Lynch get the win because we haven't had Becky Henria yet,
40:07
so I will take Becky Lynch getting the win. Yeah. I think
40:08
they alluded to it at the Kickoff Special a couple of weeks back, with
40:14
Becky Lynch confronting Mary Ripley. So I'm gonna be taking Becky Lynch as well
40:16
to win this match and then the next match here is the Man's Elimination Chamber
40:21
match for a w W World aweight champion match against Seth Freakin Rollins. At
40:23
Wrestlminging forty, You've got Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, La
40:28
Night, Kevin Owens, and Logan Paul. Up until Monday, I thought
40:31
that I was gonna be picking Randy Orton for this match, and then Drew
40:35
McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes semi clean on Monday's raw. I don't think you give
40:40
Drew McIntyre that win if you're not going to be putting him into a championship
40:44
match. At WrestleMania. Drew's run as this tween er heel has been a
40:49
lot of fun. It's been very entertaining. He seems refreshed in this role
40:52
as well. And I'm going to be taking Drew McIntyre to win this match.
40:55
Doctor Trey. I am too, because I think this is how you
41:00
get the Damien Priese cash in at WrestleMania's because we've seen Drew and Seth go
41:04
at it. If they do at wrestlemands be the third third pay per view
41:07
they've headlined in the last six months, So I think that's where you get
41:12
the cash in for Damian Priest. So I will take Drew McIntire getting to
41:15
win as well. So there you go. There is our Elimination Chamber preview
41:20
and predictions. We will recap it on next week's edition of the podcast,
41:23
which will be February the twenty eighth last show of the month heading into March
41:28
