Speaker 1: International correspondence with ends in eye insurance peace of mind
• 0:04
Speaker 1: for New Zealand business. Michael of course went leading in France.
• 0:07
Speaker 1: Great example right there of losing track of the days
• 0:09
Speaker 1: while on holiday and maybe if you few red Wine,
• 0:11
Speaker 1: beautiful part of the world.
• 0:12
  Speaker 2: For sure.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: Yes, no, I'm glad we got that sorted out and
• 0:14
Speaker 1: you enjoy your time there. Quarter to six, Where are
• 0:18
Speaker 1: we going? The State's Catherine Ferkin, very good morning.
• 0:20
Speaker 2: To you, Hi there, mate.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: I reckon Boeing will be pretty pleased they got it
• 0:23
Speaker 1: off the ground at last, won't they?
• 0:25
Speaker 2: Yes, Thank goodness. It really was a case of third
• 0:28
Speaker 2: time as a charm for Boeing Starline a capsule which
• 0:31
Speaker 2: finally blasted off into space this morning. Of course, that
• 0:34
Speaker 2: came after two failed attempts, and in comparison to those
• 0:38
Speaker 2: two scrubbed launches, today's launch was as smooth as you
• 0:42
Speaker 2: could hope for. Starliner blasted off from Kate Canavil's space station.
• 0:46
Speaker 2: Within fifteen minutes, the spacecraft was flying free in space.
• 0:50
Speaker 2: It had a brief burn of its engines thirty minutes
• 0:53
Speaker 2: after launch, and that took it the rest of the
• 0:54
Speaker 2: way to orbit. So that effectively means that We've got
• 0:57
Speaker 2: two NASA astronauts now on their way to the International
• 1:01
Speaker 2: Space Station. They're going to spend eight days there and
• 1:04
Speaker 2: then they'll return to Earth. I do want to point
• 1:06
Speaker 2: out that today's launch is important for just a couple
• 1:08
Speaker 2: of reasons. Of course, the first that Boeing really did
• 1:13
Speaker 2: need a bit of a win for its brand and
• 1:15
Speaker 2: for its confidence. It's obviously come on the back of
• 1:18
Speaker 2: those really self inflicted wounds we've seen recently from Boring.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: You know, we saw that horrific incident of a door
• 1:24
Speaker 2: blowing out during an Alaska airline's flight. So the fact
• 1:26
Speaker 2: that this spacecraft was designed and built by Boeing is
• 1:30
Speaker 2: definitely a win for them. But it also makes the
• 1:32
Speaker 2: United States the first country that can now choose which
• 1:35
Speaker 2: model of spacecraft it will send astronauts to fly into
• 1:38
Speaker 2: orbit from its soil. And as we've seen just days
• 1:41
Speaker 2: ago with China launching managing to successfully land a craft
• 1:45
Speaker 2: on the far side of the Moon, that race to
• 1:48
Speaker 2: sort of win the global space exploration challenge is really
• 1:52
Speaker 2: heating up. We've got United States, China, even Japan now
• 1:56
Speaker 2: in the race to send astronauts back to the Moon.
• 1:58
Speaker 1: We're are we it with Hunter Biden.
• 2:00
Speaker 2: Oh, that's a great question. Aren't we living in crazy times?
• 2:03
Speaker 2: We've just had Donald Trump convicted on criminal charge in
• 2:06
Speaker 2: New York. Now we've got President Biden's son Hunter facing
• 2:09
Speaker 2: criminal charges in DC. Of course, this trial is all
• 2:12
Speaker 2: about his efforts to obtain a firearm in twenty eighteen
• 2:15
Speaker 2: while allegedly being addicted to drugs. We've heard a bit
• 2:19
Speaker 2: more information from FBI special agent Erika Jensen today, who
• 2:23
Speaker 2: was the trial's first witness. She was adamant that several
• 2:27
Speaker 2: photos that have been shown to the jury were of
• 2:29
Speaker 2: drug substances allegedly used by a Hunter. We also heard
• 2:34
Speaker 2: from Hunter's ex wife, Kathleen Buell, who described how after
• 2:37
Speaker 2: twenty five years, their marriage deteriorated under the weight of
• 2:41
Speaker 2: Hunter's drug and alcohol addiction. Her testimony was really quite compelling,
• 2:45
Speaker 2: I have to say, although under cross examinations she said
• 2:49
Speaker 2: she'd never personally seen him taking drugs. We are expecting
• 2:52
Speaker 2: a bit of a big finish today, though, Mike, because
• 2:55
Speaker 2: Hallie Biden might testify. That is, of course Hunter's one
• 2:59
Speaker 2: time romantic partner. She is also the widow to the
• 3:02
Speaker 2: late Borrow Biden, and as far as President Biden's the
• 3:06
Speaker 2: optics of all of these and how the Biden found
• 3:08
Speaker 2: you being dragged through the courts. Now, you know, it's
• 3:11
Speaker 2: certainly not the timing that the President would like, and
• 3:14
Speaker 2: they will be hoping this all wraps up pretty quickly.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: Oh, it's a pleasure, Katherine to go well. Katherine Ferking
